You're listening to One-on-One with DP.
Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 937 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back.
Some reason that hit this morning.
That hit this morning.
Like, I, that, okay, that rejoined.
I felt that one this morning.
Again, 402, 4664-5, sorry, hand me a text line.
If you're joining in, uh, the conversation immediately turned towards grilling,
I have scratched my entire script for this hour to talk grilling because a couple of things going on.
So, Friday, June 10th, 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. grill off.
93.7 the grill off.
Do me your favorite. Run in the office and grab the two jerseys so I know or just look at those two jerseys and let me know which ones we have and it lets me know if I need to get more.
but we will give 93 to 7 the ticket t-shirts to everybody that that participates.
Hats.
We'll do that.
We will actually have red balloons.
We will have red balloons.
Okay, so I've got a Neil Smith, a Wistram.
I've got another Jason Peter sign Husker jersey.
We will, for one, two, and three.
So the top three of how many ever there are,
we will donate those as prizes.
Culligan is on board.
Ambition Electric is on board to get them a part of it.
We'll reach out to some of the other folks
to see if they'll contribute it and participate as well.
So Neil Smith, Grant Westram, Jason Peter,
and I might be able to pull a rosier.
Okay.
Right?
And then we'll let, depending on,
where you finish, that'll be, like, you get to choose first.
So grand prize winner will get to pick the jersey of his choice, his or her choice,
and then up and down the line.
Sounds like a blast.
Okay, so we'll come up with a graphic.
We'll put it up there.
We'll have folks register.
Put a banner on the website, right?
So people can register on there, just go on there, click on there and say, I'm in.
So we know how many people to expect.
Uh-huh.
To do that.
And then for the Dublin opener, we do want to do that.
here in the
here in the space
actually here at the station that morning
we will do the
we will have a joint pregame show so
we will be we will spend
Friday Saturday Sunday
in Grand Island at the State Fair so we'll
be broadcasting from there but we will also have
personnel here so we will split we will also
send some Husker athletes
to Grand Island and some
here at station to help us cover it.
Of course, Jake Sip, probably Jay Foreman, probably Strickland, will be in Dublin and can
contribute that way and they'll be able to call in and do that.
And then the rest of the crew will be split between Grand Island and 93-7 ticket station.
Then post-game shows will be split between, I think this.
I think we'll have somebody at the postgame at the state fair as well.
Okay.
Because if anybody's out there, we're not going to ask everybody to just pack up and drive the two hours or whatever it is,
miss the game and then try to do a postgame on it.
Yeah.
Like, that's not how it works.
Although if they left right at kickoff or 30 minutes before kickoff, they would get back in time to see three quarters of the game.
Yeah.
So we're working on that.
but we want to, I think a
you know, I think a Dublin pregame
tailgate would be amazing.
Crowbate has this question,
DP, sorry off topic a little bit.
Do you think eventually we can get snapback
or fitted ball caps?
We have them and they're available
on the ticketfm.com.
Yes.
They are.
We're going to add headbands.
Yes, sir.
Well, I'm also going to add some more jerseys.
So go to the Ticket FM and hit.
shop and we've got some shirts that are on there but we also have some here at the station
so if you stop by and just want to buy it just you can do that but we've got the ticket the white
ticket logo we've also ordered some red and black they should be arriving soon speaking of
headbands uh-huh look what i got last week so you got the corn headband shout out to beck
aleck yeah well done she got it started for everybody they're awesome
Um,
we're going to add some more shirts.
More shirts?
More shirts to the website because we've got the Foreman 44 T-shirt.
Uh-huh.
We should.
We've got the 40, uh, we've got the, the Strickland 21.
We need to add the captain shirt.
Uh-huh.
We need to do that.
We need to add a Sunday morning pancakes.
Okay.
Uh, we need to add talking trash.
Yes.
Because we can do the Nicklin and Kenzie.
shirts we can do that as well
we should have added
the baseball ones the truth
Gritty boys
slash up the middle
yeah
yeah so we'll add
some others
some other things along the way
but the hoodies are on there
and we have some here
so the ticket headband
oh it's on there for 10 bucks
10 bucks
right
so it's on there
nicely done I like headbands do we have visors
we can we can do that i don't i don't own a visor but i feel like i feel like i would be a visor guy
i'm going to be a headband guy because i'm just going to sit here every day with a headband on
i do love headbands especially when i grow my hair out yeah i it just looks ridiculous and it's
awesome right to go through and we had some listeners come in last week and bought and purchased
t-shirt so you can come and buy the t-shirt if you want um just come in and
ask for the t-shirts.
T-shirts or hats we have.
And then in the next week or so,
we'll have more items
that you can just come in and buy.
So tons to work on.
Tons to work on in the meanwhile.
I'll say this.
And again, if you have, you know,
we have red shirts.
I think we'll have some white shirts.
We may have a couple of gray shirts.
Waiting for black shirts.
That's what we're waiting for.
Black shirts.
Well, I think that's a thing, right?
Yeah, no, yeah.
I mean, we could have, can we have 93-7 the ticket black shirts?
And use the phrase, black shirts?
As long as we put a space in the middle.
Right?
Because I think they have it with no space.
Well, I know they have it with no space.
So if we put a space, we should be fine.
Right?
Should be.
Right.
That means absolutely nothing.
You know, that's fun.
That's funny.
And we can add items, but I mean, I think that's the thing is that we had people who came in to do that.
And then for anybody who, if you go to LovePrints, L-O-V-E-P-R-I-N-T-S, dot U.
And if you buy one of my books, I'll get your T-shirt.
Boom.
Just today.
Just today.
Just today.
Go to Love Prince, or you can find me on social media, and there are clips out there where you can go
and buy any of the books.
And there's five books for you to buy.
There's a lot.
There's five.
There's a lot of typing and writing from this guy.
I'm so tired.
I'm so tired.
Sleep means nothing.
I need to do better at that.
I need to do better at that.
Yeah, you do.
Like, I'm proud of it.
Oh, yeah.
I'm proud of it.
Definitely be proud of it.
But also, like, take care of yourself.
I don't know
I'm not saying you don't take care of yourself
This was a vacation
This was supposed to be a holiday weekend, right?
Yeah, you didn't.
And I did.
You didn't.
I kind of did yesterday
where I watched three movies
and I can't remember any of the three.
Your mind was on other things.
Well, I wanted to get away from
from everything.
Just sports, sports, sports, sports, sports.
And this book that came out this week
week when was not a sports book.
It was kind of a love book.
Mm-hmm.
But then next Saturday, this Saturday's book is a sports book.
And it's talking about coaching and impacting.
And I want to say this, so folks get it.
To find a circle of people who want to be positive is important to me.
It's important to me.
And we all have, I'll say this so people lock into it.
And I say this about the text line all the time.
Everybody has impact and influence.
everybody does
but not everybody
chooses to be positive in it
and so
the events and the stuff that I want to have around me
are positive people
like people who are rooting for each other
you're rooting for other people
you're not rooting against anybody
you know
to go through and recognize that
if you are given voice
and amplification like this text line
amplifies our listeners like we
do a better job of that than most sports stations in the country,
is that we amplify our listeners as much as we amplify ourselves.
And so when you have that opportunity to be heard,
I hope that you choose to say something good with it,
something positive with it.
It's okay to disagree to redirect toward something better.
So going against isn't awful,
as long as you're striving for something better
in your result, in your redirection.
So in these books, it's just our way of thanking people
who helped us become the better version of ourselves.
Like that's literally, like it could be somebody in your neighborhood
that looks out for you when you needed help
or when your parents weren't around or a coach who reached out
or a player who exemplified the best version of ourselves.
teachers, right?
That's what it is.
And so if you have the chance to amplify something good, do that.
And so that's what these books are for.
And so these books, the five books,
the opportunity for us to amplify positive is important.
But I want to bring these books and these authors,
to Lincoln in full form.
Like for Lincoln to say, hey, listen, we're contributing, and this is a part of what we're doing.
But we get sent on book tours all over the country.
So as a matter of fact, what was funny was last night I got a call from an agent in Toronto
who wanted to book me and me specifically, but the other authors,
for a book signing in Toronto
over two weekends.
And the publishers are like,
yeah, you can do that because there's a large volume
of sales from Toronto.
And it's funny.
I was asking the question, I'm like, man,
why is it that a more popular
other places than I am
here?
Because I'm here, I read out.
Like, I'm here now.
But because Lincoln doesn't buy en masse,
I can't book
I could do an autograph
signing here if I just wanted to buy the books and do that
myself. But I don't get the support of the publishers.
Yeah. So I'd like to
do that. I'd like for Lincoln
to care. And there is a project
coming.
There is a project coming
that I think
Husker fans can get behind.
That folks in Lincoln can get behind.
You know the project. I appreciate.
your confidence.
I think you will definitely have a book signing
with that one.
Right.
Maybe multiple.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Right.
Like that's the idea.
But to do this, you know, it requires some push.
As a matter of fact, I'm probably going to reach out to some local businesses to
support this project.
Yeah.
Because this one's good for everybody.
This one's good for everybody.
It's going to be interesting.
Right.
It's going to be really interesting.
Right.
I'm not wrong in that.
I'm not wrong in that.
I think this one will appease folks.
But to get to that, you know,
I need folks to go buy the current books, man.
Again, I got another one coming out this weekend.
Look, I'll say this.
Folks can be mad if they want.
But if you asked me three years ago
if I was going to be in Lincoln, Nebraska,
yeah.
If you asked me if would I be writing books?
If you ask me, would I be doing radio in Lincoln?
Would you ask me, would I own a radio station in Lincoln?
Would you, if you would ask me if I'd done two TED Talks, I would go, you're insane.
That's a lot.
And the reason that I amplify that is this.
Those are positive things.
And no matter where you are currently in your own space, in your life, for the things that you aspire to and the things that you dream about,
and the things that you want to accomplish.
I am walking, talking, living proof
that your cycle and circle changes
when you decide to do so.
None of this was planned.
None of this was planned.
And as many listeners will tell you,
who DP's nothing special.
It's true.
Right?
Nothing special.
So if I can do it,
whatever thing you would,
want to do, whatever that thing is.
Go do it.
There's zero reason
for these things to be happening
except they are.
And I want that for other folks.
Like I don't want it for me. I know what it's
done for me. I want it for you.
Like I told you personally.
I fully expect that
years from now you will change this space
because you should.
And it happens for you
whatever way Rico decides for it to happen.
I'm looking forward to the version of this
that you make it
because, again, you care about it enough,
you love it the right way.
The opportunity is there.
We'll see where the road takes it.
That's all there is.
We'll close out one-on-one
and then hand it over.
No, Vashon today.
Send out,
shouts to Vichon and his family.
They had a tough loss this weekend.
And he is taking care of business.
He will be back tomorrow.
But for today, we'll let that man handle his family business.
Nick Rico and the crew will all stand up for Vashan.
And, you know, we'll talk some sports in his honor and his family's honor today.
Watch live on Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch.
You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
on 937 the ticket and the ticketfm.com.
