You're listening to one-on-one with DP.
Brought to you by Beatrice Bakery.
On 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back, final segment of 101.
Again, thanks for making this hour of sports radio conversation to us.
Barry Thompson.
I want to read this text and then we'll get to what's good.
Dusty says get the players to one.
want to play for you, develop players to reach their full potential,
teach them to deal with adversity and success,
to give more when they don't think they can,
and to expect to win every game.
Any of those resonate with you, kind sir.
Yeah, those are all, I mean, Dustin describes, you know, a good team,
but the question is how do you get the players to get to that point?
And, you know, I keep going back to the things that I said.
the motivation is in the choosing.
You're talking about college.
High school. High school is a little different.
But in college, you have the opportunity to pick and choose who comes to be with you.
So that motivation is in the choosing.
You don't choose somebody and then try to wake them up.
You choose a person who's already awake.
You say, I want you over here.
You look at a person, Dusty, in my opinion, Dusty, that has all those qualities.
and you're trying to find a lot of those people,
and those are the guys you bring in.
You know, at the upper levels,
and I'm not, you know, coaches don't give big pep talks.
You know, it's like, hey, we practice all week,
but get out and play.
Or, hey, it's half-time, you know, we didn't play well, let's go.
It's not the hooping and hollering and all that stuff.
At this level, you're getting to be professional.
You know, maybe somebody raises their voice,
but otherwise it's pretty common there.
and, you know, sometimes there's some antics, but, you know, it's just, when you say something, the right thing for the right person, it doesn't.
Go to Kentucky Derby.
It's my favorite thing to watch.
Watch jockeys when they come down the stretch.
They all have that crop in their hand, right?
But they do different things with that crop depending on the horse that they have, right?
Some of them just kind of show that crop and that, all that horse needs to know, that crop is there, and they take off.
Those are the type of guys that you want, right?
Well, you just show them the crop and they take off.
Good players will make you a great coach, you know.
And the Dutti brings up some great points,
but we hope to recruit that person rather than develop them into that type of person.
It's, you know, my listeners are familiar with my phrase that great players make great coaches.
Yeah.
Great coaches.
They make you smart and everything else.
Great coaches.
make great players.
And they are so connected.
And no matter how you spend those words,
they're all true, they all are valuable.
They just need to be remembered.
They just did.
Like if there's a great coach, he's a great person.
Yeah.
He's doing some things,
and he's going to make great people.
Yeah.
Am I talking about winning coaches?
I'm talking about great coaches.
There's a difference.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it's so funny that that relationship is so,
symbiotic, they feed off of each other.
Yeah, man.
You know, a great player will tell you, like Michael will tell you how much you learned from Phil.
Phil will tell you how much you learned from Michael.
Right, right.
Because they know.
They know.
They know, no islands in the game of success.
There just are no islands into themselves.
They don't exist.
Hey, brother, it's that time?
What do we eat?
Yeah, we're eating.
My Japanese is not good.
It's Ono Nagiri.
I think I talked about it.
Dona Nagiri is just right, and you kind of poke a little hole in it, and you put a filling in it,
and you shape it all in the shape of a triangle.
It'sona Nagiri.
There's another version of that, which is kind of fold.
So I'll try to describe this.
I practice doing this.
So everybody says here with me.
Imagine you have a square piece of paper in front of you, and this exercise, that would be the dry sheet.
seaweed. And one part of that, but halfway, you're going to take the scissors and you're going to cut
from one side all the way to where you think the middle is. All right. So now you're going to turn
that around so that the cut is to your right. Now, in front of you, you have four quadrants,
essentially, and you're going to put four things on this quadrant, and you're going to fold them,
and this becomes this, I'll call it Fold at Kembach. I went from Japanese to Korea,
Korean, old a kemba.
Got it.
So in the top right quadrant, you're going to take this right.
It needs to be cool.
And you can season it a little bit, but you're going to make it in a square in the top right quadrant.
And the top left quadrant will take some lettuce, maybe a few Julianne piece of cucumber, and then some tuna fish.
Okay.
I suggest you season your tuna fish.
Like I put two tablespoons of mayonnaise and a tablespoon of syracobes.
or a hot sauce in there.
So it makes it a little spicy, and that goes over the top of the left.
So the top half of this thing, rice on one side, one square, lettuce,
maybe a few cucumbers and tuna on the left side.
Come down to the left quadrant, shredded carrot.
You shredded or Julianne Carrots, saute them just a little bit,
so they're a little soft and brings out the sweetness,
and you put that on the lower left quadrant.
And then on the last quadrant, you can put a little bit of egg,
The way of cooking it like an omelet, you just low heat, right?
It just cooks it, it doesn't turn brown, you flip it over when it's done,
you cut a little square, and you put that on.
So now you've got rice, you've got lettuce and tuna,
and then you have carrot, and you have eggs.
So you pick up the egg flap, get you underneath,
and you fold it over the top of the carrot,
and then you take the carrot and egg,
and you fold it over the top of the tuna fish,
and then you take all three and you fold it over top of the rice.
Now all this is done over a cellicine piece of paper and you wrap it up and then you slice it down the middle.
I'm telling you, go on YouTube, look up on the nigeria, the folder kembop.
You can do this at home.
You will love it.
And the best thing I got full, I made a couple of them.
I got full after 8-2 and I couldn't figure out why.
When you look at it, it's a whole meal.
There's rice, there's vegetables, there's tuna, there's proteins, and it's really, really,
good.
You can play around with whatever you want to put on this quadrant.
But, yeah, that's been this week.
Folded Kimbop is what I would have said.
Rico, you can see the picture.
What are your thoughts?
It looks pretty good.
Guys, I'm telling you, it's so delicious.
And you're different feelings.
And for anybody that's intimidated out there, look it up and then just put
Western Missoubi or Western Ona Gazzaro or Western kembop.
And they'll give you some more, like, even bacon or American cheese.
But I made one with cheese, spam.
I forget it was in the other quadrant, right?
But those are pretty American things.
I watch...
Really, really, really good.
I watch enough anime where I've always wanted to try Onigiri.
Yeah.
Well, you should just try.
Don't be intimidated.
I was at first, but don't think.
I'll send D.P. a link of something that I use.
You can do it.
There we go.
And even if you messed up.
Even if you messed up, the ingredients are good.
You just don't sit over thinking, eat it anyway.
Yeah, it don't have to be pretty all the time.
Sometimes that first one is a real.
Hey, Barry Thompson, thank you.
Love you, brother.
I'll talk to you later today.
Appreciate you, man.
Thanks for having me.
That is Barry Thompson.
Again, folks from Ambition Electric.
Making that happen, greatly appreciate it.
Don't go anywhere.
Captain Schope for Sean Jackson.
Lots to talk about.
He asked me to hang around, so I guess what fires we're going to start.
Stay tuned.
Thank you.
