Because we spent a pretty good amount of time on Nebraska football, but there's this other thing that happens in the fall. There's several other things, but another other thing. So that, you know, baseball, I'm sure they had a song. I just don't know what that is. I found it so weird that the Nick's song was who let the dogs out. Did you catch that on the podium? Well, because, yeah, I mean, I think that it was a Mike Brown sort of practice thing. At some point, I guess we need to know the story behind how that became a thing. And again, no. different than Delta Dawn.

Like it, okay. Right? Like, oh. I mean, if you were, if you were assigning a song to this year's Husker football team, what would it be? Oh, that's a good question. Right? If you're assigning a song, and it could be any song.

I, and you know what, it could be any song. So I was going to say any song, but I can't really say that. I can't say any song and then not have it be. do you know the words to hail varsity no i don't think so do you know any of the the words to the nebraska fights on uh let me i mean i'd have to get it in my head i'm sure i do once i get it how many people do you think actually what percentage of of husker fans know the words to the fight time it's probably a fair amount right yeah uh tap on the window let's get austinorman in here Let's get Austin Norman in here because I think that's a fair question.

Just for a moment. Again, it was like late era of Tim Miles. I distinctly remember that. But in terms of Nebraska football, is there one? I mean, I think he would go to the tunnel walk, but that's not really something they do afterwards. But isn't that the Space Odyssey?

Isn't that the Rick Flair, original Rick Flair, Space Odyssey, right from Space Mountain? Yeah. That he would play that before he, and then he would just hit the woo. Wasn't that Flair's first? Well, it was the Bulls first, at least in terms of like big four.

Oh, they got, the text not got mad at me the first time I said that that was the Bulls first. That the Bulls intro. I feel like the Bulls made it iconic first, even if Nebraska was using it earlier. But Flair was using it before 92. So he, okay. Okay, then he used it. Maybe he used it first, but. This was Flair hot and happening.

Like, I know it's Rick Flair. But the first time I think about it is the Bulls. I mean, the tunnel walk is serious by Alan Parsons' project. Is Flares different? What was Flares? What was Flares?

The bigger problem with that for him is when they roll out the, you know, they go out on those four-wheelers or whatever and throw out all the shirts is that you can see for the rest of the day the tracks on the field. Like you can see exactly where the four-wheeler went and they go out and play football on it afterwards.

Well, that'd be worse on grass. You're going too fast is what it's saying. Hey, slow down and get it done. Right, it's the thing. So why did they stop with DJ Cool? Let me clear my thought. Because Riley. Trying to wash your hands of it like Callahan is my assumption.

Why did they stop? Can you feel it by the Jackson's? That I don't know. I mean, that was a build up to kick off, build up to tip off even at basketball. I don't think they could ever quite get the beat right. And it's hard, you know, in a stadium of 86,000.

wasn't in an arena of what, let's call it 18,000. Like, it's hard, but I don't think the clapping was ever consistently on beat. I'm glad. I am so glad Austin said that because people, again, I have asked the question. We can figure out a lot of things. Look, Lincoln is a college town and there's an institute of higher learning. And if we can't get people to clap on beat, we got some other things we need to deal with. Like here's the thing. I'm a sports guy, but I also did the whole band thing in high school.

Like I grew up in the music realm. Like, don't we all sing in the shower? Don't we all like, you know, tap along the songs. They come on to us. Like, nod our heads and tap our feet to the beat. Is it that hard to clap on beat? Like, people. This is what happens here in Lincoln, Nebraska.

I sound so much like the guy on the reels. Because no. No. No. People do that. And so we do this on the rhythm? No. No.

No. Because that's not the beat. That's literally what it is. Which saw huskish is you sure got a pretty mouth. Yeah. That's always interesting. Eric goes, we white D.P. Rhythm, it really isn't our thing.

But I don't know how that's, how is that still true? It should transcend race. It should transcend background. Some people might have an easier time with. it, but the beat is the beat. But isn't this a church town? I feel like God abandoned our society long ago, and it's a shame, but it should be. You would think that in church, if you clap in church, that's the simplest clap ever.

Yeah. They have people demonstrating how to do it up front most times. I mean, we're not even giving you Southern Baptist church clap, right? Which I know could throw you off. Like, I know. The whole town would have a heart attack if you did that. I know where you go to. church is where there's a preacher. And the clapping is a little, little, little challenging.

But how are we missing the one, two, three, four? I mean, it's, or just clap on the downbeat, you know, like, do we not know what a downbeat is anymore? Look at your neighbor. Clap when they clap. Like their hands start to go together. Maybe start putting yours together. And if you're not sure, you don't have to clap. It's okay. Yeah, RD says this. He says, you need the red bouncing ball, the jumbo try to get everybody on the beat. that may be the greatest text I've ever read. That is... I think they're too far gone.

I'm not sure it would work. In theory, great. In practice, I don't know if I have confidence it would work. But Texas A&M actually has yell practices the day before. And what do we think about that, D.P? I think it's necessary because the idea that they would do yells and not practice is a far greater crime than just assuming that, meh, whatever happens.

How you play the game is how you practice the game and vice versa. I at least give the Aggies credit for saying, we don't trust y'all on game day to get this, right? Let's get in here and practice. Dress rehearsal. You know, there is, oh, my goodness. There's no place like Nebraska, apparently. There's no place like Nebraska.

I know you've seen Chappelle's show, white folks can't dance or clap and rhythm. I think that then maybe you need something with the lead guitar, right? So everybody can at least air guitar together. I don't know. I mean, I think that used to be a tip-off thing at some point as well, and then they abandoned it. But my thing is you can't have new old traditions. What it's going to take is you're going to have to have a signature win at home. Whoever is on the ox is going to have to just play something. You go with it and then, oh, we did this last time. Let's do it again. And then after you do a big win every year and then you do it and it starts to become an old tradition. But you're not just going to say, oh yeah, that's the thing right away. But you got, I mean, it happened for the Knicks. It happened like Delta Dawn wasn't on the lips of every 20 year old girl. Well, what happened for a season?

I'm talking about like the longevity. Like you can point back to, oh, this is when it started for sure. But then it's got to carry over. Which I think is what makes the tunnel walk. So, I mean, they started that in 94. Things were fantastic for the first couple of years. Mm-hmm. And they haven't been the same sense.

Did Alan Parsons project ruin Nebraska football? Withhold the money until it works. Change it. I mean, so what, now, now you're out walking on dangerous territories. You're saying change.

Now? Well, have we started? I think now. Well, I don't think there's as much, there's as much fan base that cares about the killigans and they do the walkout. I'll have to resurface my tweet about the kill again because it went like,

quasi-viral. I got it wasn't even third. I got like probably 80% approval with a very loud minority that said, you're anti-Nabrasca, how dare you, they're good people, they're doing good work. I didn't make a comment on them as people. But that's, there's no different than if Austin wrote a song

and began singing it in the streets of linking, hoping that it would catch on. And people would just go like they do about the Killigan's. Oh, look, there's the Ormond board. We're going to support him because he's one of us. But the song, the song's not very good. Yeah.

They're like, oh, there's the Bachovin boy. Stick to sports. You're bad at that too, but stick to sports. I just, I, listen, there is an unlimited number of songs. You just can keep searching and find something that resonates, because it's important, right? Am I wrong in that? Well, because it's important and also because it's superstitious. I think those things are all hand in hand.

It's got to work. I think, to be fair, I think serious and back in black are like, if you're a Nebraska fan, that's your jam. That's what you do. I mean, they've already got a few pretty much set in. I don't know if the kill against again are right there, but. But there's a large portion of the Nebraska fan base that hates the black uniforms. There's a, again, a vol.

I was talking with Jason Grant about this. It was so funny to hear them talk on Tuesday. You guys didn't need to go find the clip or the show. I was all over it. Because they're talking about, yeah, you know, when we were here in the 90s, you know, the defense, we were the stepchild, and all those offense, this, look at these guys getting all the headlines, no it appreciates us, and that's how we like it.

And I had to turn it around on him. Guys, you understand the most enduring tradition. Most enduring thing that people know about Nebraska football is this little thing called the black shirt. So maybe he didn't get the credit then. I feel like you've more than made up for it after the fact. You're the thing now. You think about corn,

you think about black shirts. There's no offence of identity. It hasn't been for a while. As a matter of fact, the defensive identity is the identity of the program in full. Sense them. Like it hasn't, we've had quarterbacks.

They try to put up and go, hey, this is it. But hey, I think there's more push. to when the black shirts are announced, than when the starting quarterback is announced. And that's weird to me. That's weird to me.

What happened? Riala had a moment, but again, fleeting. Yeah, it's, and we, was it right?

I'm just saying, I'm just saying it happened. Was the moment, right? Was the moment, right? I don't know. So what,

I always do like when they play Triple H's music. Like, time to play the game. Is that really music? Well, it gets me pumped up. Okay. That's all that matter. Bok is the sole person. Yeah.

And Bats, spit, and water. I'm not the old. I mean, they do it. They do this everywhere. A lot of arenas across the nation. Baccus spewing water. That's right. And no one else in the crowd is like,

What are we doing? What's what's what's what's hunters connections in Nebraska? We don't we don't have any. What would you play between third and fourth quarter? Um, I don't know. I was I was a big fan of let me clear my throat before it came before we came in Nebraska thing. So that would be one of my first thoughts to begin with. Hey, I know the club that they actually recorded it. So I'm all with it being let me call all. All right, Austin. Uh, leave the, uh, leave the, the tunnel walk alone? So, yeah, probably. I am not against changing it, but I'm not sure it's going to take.

So, okay, fine, leave it alone. I can deal with it. Kickoff, I didn't mind the, can you feel it, Jackson 5 version. If you're going to do that, I think you can do that football, basketball, volleyball, at the very least. Make it more department-wide, potentially.

I'm not sure they would love that overlap, but I think you could at least try it there. I mean, the Timmy trumpet thing had a moment. The kids liked it, but I think it's a- The Mets ruined it for me. Well, of course they did. The Mets ruined everything. So what do you really say?

The Mets ruined it for me. And then I'm not anti-Thundercrack. The light shows maybe overblown, maybe overdone, but cool enough, I think you can keep it. If that's going to be your tradition, your thing moving forward, I can be on board with that. I was, it was suggested as Maryland went through a thing, Virginia went through a thing, Utah went through a thing.

Utah said that they were ready for this. They had a discussion that they were going to just use Michael Jackson songs in each of those things. But the list was incredible. And then Minnesota said, we'll want up you. We're just going to use prints. Because they're in Minneapolis. They were like, oh, if you started every quarter with a print song, let's go crazy, you know, the full list.

When do you put, let's go crazy? Is that, is that first quarter? Kickoff? Okay, that's what I'm thinking. If I'm, if I'm the Minnesota gophas, I'm PJ Fleck, I need for your, I think, let's row crazy.
