Hey, what's up y'all? Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair. My favorite thing about the holidays?
Decking out my whole house. It's not a competition, but if it was, well, I'd win the season with Wayfair.
Outdoor inflatable Santa? Got it on Wayfair. Trees, lights and ornaments? Wayfair. Hosting must-havs, like dining sets, beds, sheets, and towels. Wayfair.
For everything in your style delivered with fast and free shipping, visit Wayfair.com or the Wayfair app to win the season. But again, it's not a competition.
It's time to go one-on-one with D.P.
Coming at you live from the heart of Lincoln America, a 93-7-a-ticket and the ticketfm.com.
Here is your host, Derek Pearson, brought to by Canopy Street Market.
Four o'clock.
Tuesday.
Boom.
Boom.
And in your face, in a car in your face, in the office, in your face, on the apps, in your face, on the text line.
It's by the nature in your face.
55 days, beautiful.
Technically, the National Weather Service is 59.
It feels great.
No wind.
59.
Nice and calm.
Yeah, I'm fully accepting of it.
I want to stop looking at the weather
because I never get the same story
I can go to three different weather
actually tell me three different things
all the time
like I just went to a different one 57
I think is that a Midwest thing to check the weather every day
I suppose down in Utah
you're doing the same thing farmers farmers
farmers I mean the agriculture
what do you think tomorrow's high is
no one is too good today
27.
38 is the hide.
Okay.
That's not bad.
So get your fresh air in.
Enjoy yourselves a little bit.
Cubs,
good to hear from you, bro.
Happy afternoon.
We see Chubbs Jr.
outside.
We put some new peanuts out there.
So he's,
he's storing up for the next.
Oh, they all are.
He's storing up for the next snow.
Like he knows some businesses
about to take place.
He's like,
Oh, we're going to melt some stuff.
Let me store some stuff so I can find it.
So none of my friends can find it.
But all of his friends have the same nose he does.
Yeah, I think we're talking about it.
They're getting a little more aggressive down the stretch here.
They're really starting to shove each other around for that last harvest.
Box out drills, man.
Yeah, they don't squirrel box out drills for peanuts, man.
It is the time of year.
4-2-464.
5-6-85, start a Havenat, you want to be a part of what we're doing.
Hit us with a watch up and we'll include you in the show and shout you out.
You know, you've got a birthday.
you want to celebrate, you got an anniversary, celebrate, you got a special person,
you want a shout out, can do.
We're live at all the video streams, Facebook, YouTube, X, Adel Channel 961.
Harrison, I just got the email asking, or the emails, plural,
asking which college basketball games we were willing to carry.
And so I think we found a pretty good assortment that if you mix them with Lincoln Public
School basketball,
We have a pretty good schedule, a nice cross-section, as a matter of fact, of ballgames that we can carry over the course of the next few months.
Of course, some of them do a better job of spreading out and extending the schedule far enough that you can kind of tell what we're doing.
sometimes one of the
I want to say it's the Westwood one
only has January
but
between the two it has a pretty good idea
of what we can carry
some of the games that we can carry
Marquette and St. John's
we can get
Houston and Texas Tech
which is both
you know
top 20 action will have
Louisville and number 6
Louisville, number four, Duke.
We can carry Alabama and Florida, both top 15.
We can carry Duke in North Carolina, both top 16, Arizona and Kansas.
We can get a little UCLA and Michigan Action, a little Indiana in Illinois.
So there are some games in the schedule that we can get in.
And then we have a pretty good idea about the Lincoln High School.
And here's some of what Nick Sanders put together.
We shout out to Nick Sandor for putting it together.
And then, of course, we're voicing it all.
If you are part of any of these programs or another program that you want featured,
I've given Nick permission to come out to practice and kind of do a feature on any of these schools that we're going to carry,
especially those we're going to carry on a regular basis.
But if you are part of an athletic program, and it doesn't have to be basketball.
It can be men's basketball, girls and boys basketball, it can be wrestling, whatever.
Like, you just have to reach out to Nick Sanger.
to do that along the way.
But some of the games, we're going to pick it up December 16th,
December 16th.
We're Lincoln Northeast and Lincoln North Star on a Tuesday night, 715.
So it looks like we're going to do Tuesday, Friday, for the most part,
except for that week of Christmas and New Year's.
We'll jump ahead on the 19th to Lincoln North Star and Lincoln High.
that's at North Star.
So North Star apparently has been very welcoming to us
because a lot of these games are at Lincoln North Star.
Lincoln Northeast versus Lincoln South East.
That will be at Northeast on January 6th.
Thursday game on January 8th,
Lincoln North Star versus Lincoln East.
That'll be at Lincoln North Star 715.
Saturday, January 10th, Lincoln Southwest versus Omaha Westside
at Lincoln Southwest.
So we're going to load that one up for you.
And then February, January 16th,
North East, Lincoln Northeast versus Lincoln Southwest.
That'll be from Lincoln Northeast High School.
January 17th, Lincoln North Star versus Millard West.
That'll be from Lincoln North Star.
So any of the opportunities where we get to be in gyms where we're familiar
with the layout, the Wi-Fi, the outlets, the gym frame,
we can participate in.
And again, in any of these cases,
I would imagine that we could probably get with North Star, Northeast,
Southwest, East, and Lincoln High
and be able to have some conversations about introducing them to our audience
this year's team.
And then to do the same, we're working on that for Lincoln North Star Wrestling.
I can't speak to the other wrestling programs as to, you know,
if they would allow us to do that or want us to do that.
But that's kind of the expanded version of what the ticket
to look like in 2027 is that as we get into basketball and of course that'll be
postseason football in the NFL some bowl games championships along the way things that
we're going to carry we'll get through all the way through the boys district tournament
February 28th through March 3rd March 4 through the 7th the girls state tournament
all the games that we will carry from PBA and then March 11th through March 14th
The Boy State Tournament, also those events at PBA and carry it through its version.
Of course, you'll get Nick Sainer, Jay Foreman, Austin Orman.
You may even get the old, the old Grey Geese are out there to sit down and talk a little hoops.
In previous years, we had Huskers sit down and call some of the games.
As a matter of fact, there was a year we had Trey McGowan, we had Bryce McGowanes, we had Derek Walker.
John Gary helped them.
All sat down and called some ball games with them.
us. So we'll see how that plays out. As a matter of fact, I was down in Devaney today,
spoke to Fred Hoyberg for a bit after he did his presser.
Saw a lot of the guys ran into Cade's Iola from wrestling, who made a just spectacular debut
wearing the Husker colors, athletic 285, athletic big, big man.
It was a good weekend. I was talking about Ridge. You got that 125 figured out a little bit as well.
you come out there and you get a big win there.
Getting wins will do that.
I'll say this and keep repeating.
In most situations, in most cases, there's nothing wrong that a win won't cure.
Oh, yeah.
But getting that cure tells you whether you're healing or not, whether you're fixing some things
or not.
And you can tell the state of a program by the number of questions you have about it.
That was how I was often evaluated as a coach and as an administrator being brought
into high school teams, college teams, pro teams, national teams, and then asking, well,
what's the state of the program? And then they would tell you how deep you need to go or get it
right, or at least to help them amend. I was asking, I asked this earlier, what is the state
of affairs for Nebraska football? So text line, I'm going to ask you, because I don't think that
my brain will process this the way I need for it to process. So,
In politics, they will have a state of the union and you'll have somebody to get up in front and they will tell you, here's financially where we are, here's where we stayed, here we feel about it, how's the economy, how are we emotionally as a group?
Yeah, that's an important one.
Right. How are we emotionally dealing with Husker football? Because if we had said in,
in July that at 7 and 5 and we're going to face Utah in the Las Vegas bowl game.
I'm not sure that people would be unhappy or dissatisfied with it.
I was asked the question earlier today as well that Jay Foreman had said yesterday
that next year if they get 7 and 5, you have to be happy with it and ask my thought of it.
And I was like, ew, ew, like I added extra Ws.
Ew.
Ew.
I know.
You know, but the reality
might be that that might be progress.
Because some would say,
and again, we don't know, right?
But some would look at the schedule of
the list of the teams to be played next year
and location of those games
that people would say next year's schedule is tougher.
And you throw on some of the new coaches
that have made their stops at these new schools.
And I know I keep saying,
but Michigan State just that looks like another
school that's going to be a lot more competitive and it might be next year.
Well, but I mean, here's, here's the real. We don't know. No.
We have no idea what any, what any team is going to look like next year because we don't
know what happens between now and then. We don't know who gets who in the transfer portal,
who loses who in the transfer portal. How much does it matter too? What coaches, Penn State,
Michigan, you down, quote unquote, down years for them. Nobody. We don't know anybody that would
have picked Penn State going to the Penn Strikeball. We don't know anybody.
we don't know anybody we just we just don't it was a bad year well we a four lost clemson team
who had that really you had that in the pool you had that in the pool did you did you have
LSU fired another coach did you have that in the pool like here's the thing I know that we
are in the we're in the opinion business and we're the in the entertainment side
hey what's up y'all Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair my favorite thing about the holidays
decking out my whole house
it's not a competition
but if it was
well I'd win the season with Wayfair
outdoor inflatable Santa
got it on Wayfair
trees lights and ornaments
Wayfair
hosting must-havs like
dining sets, beds, sheets
and towels, Wayfair
for everything in your style
delivered with fast and free shipping
visit Wayfair.com
or the Wayfair app
to win the season
but again it's not a competition
Wayfair every style
every home
But in the informing side
I just have to remind people
It's just talk because I don't really know.
So Harrison, I'll ask you the state of Nebraska affairs,
the state of the union.
How do you feel about this program,
not just, not this team, the program?
Because this year's team is what it is.
And we aren't going to know any more about it until Vegas.
And even then, I'm not sure we're going to know more about it.
I think we're going to know different about it
because we don't know who's going to play yet.
We don't know how long they're going to play, right?
We don't know who's going to be the leading rusher.
We have no idea.
We can guess.
Harrison, who would you guess?
Oh, we'll throw on knives.
Ives are mozy.
How much have we seen those guys?
Which is the perfect shoulder shrug.
Yeah.
I don't know.
It's the girl.
I don't know.
It's a little girl who throws her hands.
or palms to the sky.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Who's going to be,
if we fast forward a year
or nine months
to next camp,
we don't know.
We don't know.
I mean,
we'll spend the next several months
comparing young quarterbacks.
Right?
And then you'll have to compare them
to the last starting quarterback
that we went into training camp.
with you'll have to compare new running backs to the recent running back we'll have to compare
offensive lines to the old coach and the players who were in the program who will no longer be in
the program and the portal is probably going to be up to 4,000 this year right you have names
dropping in the hat every day in there well but we we don't know we don't know many of them
we can look at and go oh well this is texas tech this is b yu this is
This is USC.
But we don't know.
We don't know what this guy's problem is and why he's in the transfer portal.
So when you look at the transfer portal, the part people forget is to ask,
why are you in there?
Why are you in there?
Because something didn't work where you were.
Now, it means you have, you have something to offer because you, you got,
you convince somebody, but it's the same difference.
If you meet somebody who's divorced, you can say, this is an amazing woman.
but somebody broke up with you or you broke up with them what's going on what's what's really going
on right because yeah it's money or something else money's at least the one easy one to
understand what but but are you something else does that make her more attractive to you if
she tells you he didn't make it a month no no it doesn't it doesn't it doesn't it doesn't make her
more appealing to you because ultimately that's why you date her and what you're willing to
accept is exactly why you're going to break up with her that's exactly what count it count it
it's is she just treated somebody like that a pretty good dude as a matter of fact a dude who
was willing to marry her as a matter of fact right so to a player or a coach when you bring in
a new coach remember that coach just had to divorce somebody
either by their choice or his.
Which one was it?
And do you feel good about it?
Because, wait a minute, you were San Diego, bro.
You had no pressure.
You had four people at your press conferences.
You had zero evaluation.
Oh, you've got programs and sports all around.
you. It's San Diego.
You're going to come here and be the
focus. You know what you're going to do? You're going to go
to the hate market.
Everybody's going to know you went to Haymarket.
You're not going to be
anonymous anymore.
There's no Tony Quinn in town.
Now we get a little bit of a Husker media mob,
especially around that football program. It's a gang, right?
Yeah, you're going to... It's a gang.
I'm just...
I'm just saying.
Cubsker says this.
We'll go through some of these texts.
He goes,
I'm certain,
I'm certain,
uncertain on how to feel currently
on Husker football
and the changes to be,
to be honest.
But by the way,
who are you voting for,
D.P.
More specifics.
I need more specifics,
Cubson.
I need more specific.
What am I voting for?
Not who am I going to vote for?
What am I voting for?
that is a much great people forget to ask that question it's not who you're voting for it's what
you're voting for that tells me way more about a person than who you're voting for what are you
right what are you voting for learn to ask that question to people like don't ask who you vote for
i don't need to go in the booth with you well once you do that then you just get the script well what do
you what are you voting for and and listen if you're if you're doing basic stuff you're dealing with
the basic person.
Fair?
Okay.
Okay.
Thomas DeLegis says, what up, D.P.
And Harrison, do you trust the Eagles to make it through the Super Bowl?
In full disclosure, Harrison, I'll let you answer that first.
You answer that first.
Not trust, but yeah, there's still contenders for me.
Here's the thing.
I don't think I trust anybody.
That's kind of where I'm landing.
on it. Like, I think they're contenders, but I think there's a lot of teams in that group that
nobody's won me over. Like, I don't have any belief that anybody is going to find a way
to do everything that's required. There are holes in the ship. Right. I don't mean,
splinters. I mean, there are holes in the ship. No matter who it is, there's some things we see.
So I don't know. And again, I'm not real good about telling you who's going to play in a
Super Bowl anyway. But I can tell you, I do not know. And I do not trust.
any, there's not a team in the NFL that I'm willing to wager good DP money to say they're
going to be in the Super Bowl, let alone win it. But to make it to Super Bowl? Oh, no. No, no, no, no, no. And
I can say this. There's, there's not one team this year that's just sticking out above the
others. I'm just going through the entire team. Well, here's, here's, so they, they let out the
odds today. This is based on Yahoo Sports. Who do you think that the number one favorite, the odds
a favorite to to to to i'm still going to go ram to win the super bowl so they have the rams at
plus 400 then the seahawks at 750 green bay at 800 buffalo at 850 is the as the top of the of
the afc which okay uh really really is that what we're doing well they beat the chicago bears
the team that apparently isn't good that you deserve no credit for being and i don't we got
some factors in here lethal broncos plus 100 page
Patriots plus 100, Eagles plus 1,100, Texans plus 1,500, lions plus 2,000,
Jaguars plus 2,000.
So the Detroit Lions and the Jaguars are at the same level.
And then the San Francisco 49 is at 2,200.
And I don't know.
I don't get the warm and fuzzies about any of them.
Well, and that's been the most consistent would be the Patriots,
but we'll see what it looks like in postseason with the first care head coach and Drake May.
I don't know. Bubba says Green Bay.
Yeah, I don't know.
Green Bay's got the legit defense.
I don't know.
Kip says this from the text on the combination of NIL, chaos, smaller rosters,
and a bunch of transfers,
Matt is overcoming a broken system.
That's the line I would use.
It's his system.
It's his now.
Yeah.
Four years, it's his.
Three years in, it's yours.
If you had a bad,
first year, it's still yours. You did it. Right? You brought everybody in. If you weren't
prepared for your one, maybe you thought what you needed was different than what you actually
needed, but okay. And that's not, that's not even a slight. It's you, it's just your program
now. Yeah, I mean, it was this program year one by his own words. I mean, this is, this is your
program. As a coach, I mean, I would walk into high schools not knowing the kids, not knowing
the families, not knowing the administrators, not know anything.
And I've got to win in six months, period, or I don't get to keep the job, right?
And I've got to plant some real substantial seeds while I'm doing it.
So that's how I look at things.
In the ABA and the CBA, I didn't have returning players.
I would get whatever was left over after NBA and Europe league camps.
and then in a pool
and you go okay make make a team out of this
now I had
resume on them but I don't know
why
you didn't win at Weber State
I didn't know why you didn't win at San Diego
State I didn't know what your
relationship was with your coach at
Indiana I didn't know
that you partied
too much in
at Portland State
so I had to accumulate
and then you're rolling
crap and then just go okay hopefully i have rules and my rules will help me not only identify the
flaws but then either boundary or correct the flaws because immediately the moment you're on my team
i everything that has to that happens after that is either taught or allowed everything so i have
to be in control and if i don't have a plan for it then year three i never get to year three i never get to
or three because it looks it looks messy oh i it's going to look what we would say on
day one oh you're going to be coached and you're going to be led somebody in this room is going
to lead you all and i'm going to find out who it is and then that and that's how we're going
to make this work so i don't know that you're wrong or otherwise one more before we go to
break and we'll get to the rest of it when we come back um texas says what's up d p uh southeast
freshman and reserve basketball games tonight at Lincoln Southwest. Go Nights.
Thank you. And we, you are, you all are always welcome to text in those sorts of
shouts out for Lincoln athletes. Don't need to, don't even, don't even justify it.
Because it's a reminder, go. I mean, I'm, I'm playing a trip to D.C. and I immediately looked
at schedules, high school schedules to figure out where I was going to, where I was going to go.
Ohio Husker says, oh, the cold was coming.
What's up, fella?
Yeah, yeah, it really is.
It really is in the space.
So thank you all for it.
We'll take the first break.
And then we'll come back more one-on-one here on the ticket.
