You're listening to One-on-One with D.P.
Presented by Beatrice Bakery on 93-7 The Ticket and the Ticketfm.com.
Welcome back. Final segment of one-on-one.
We'll hand it over to Sean Jackson.
Back. He's back. He's back. He's back. He's back. He's back. He's back.
He's out of wings up.
Where's he at?
I think 50th and no.
He's right next door.
I think, I believe so.
Yeah, I believe that...
Yes, because two weeks ago, he was out south, last week.
He was over there.
Where's Vichon today?
On Superior, so I believe he's on O Street.
Where...
Where is Rishon today?
Still can't hear us.
Where is Vichon today?
Wingstap.
50th and O.
See, he was at 28th and Superior last week, so it should be 50th and O this week.
Yes, because he was out south two weeks ago.
Yes.
And then, yes.
I believe he's got Jacques Guargetan and friends.
Yeah, usually wingstop days or Husker football players stop by days.
Stop by and eat and then some push-up days.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, for $25 gift cards, he's given away throughout the entire show, so stop on by.
Normally he has to do 50 push-ups and, bam, $25.
But what if he wants to do more than 50 push-ups?
We encourage more than 50 push-ups.
Okay, so I'm going to send over some signed baseballs.
There you go.
I'll take them over.
Yeah, I'll send those over.
And we can do that.
So, yeah, Jacques Coaz has been active on social media.
He has.
I've noticed that.
Yeah, you know, he's coming out of his shell a little bit through this thing.
And as we, it's what Jay and I would, what we were all talking about earlier was, I, I wish we knew who, who was who at what positions.
What, okay.
Like, I don't know.
I got a question for Coach CP.
Mm-hmm.
No question.
is it better or worse for the players to know where they stand?
Always better to know.
Always better.
The quickest way to sabotage your team is for people to not know their responsibilities
and their jobs and their place within the program.
They want to know.
And those are the players that I want.
I want players that want to know.
hey look you're number two and here's why right because then that that gives me a thing that
I can feed him to work on like to know listen if you want to be number one here the things you have to do
and if you're not doing those things then you can't be number one like those are coaching tools
that's ambition motivation inspiration and responsibility accountability I can't hold you
accountable for anything if I don't have goals in place like that's stuff I talk about with
jay look if there's no accountability this is the thing you got a bunch of people just hang
out doing work and nobody really knows what is the thing that moves the needle or presses
the envelope.
Like, look, it's a daily competition.
It's a daily opportunity.
When people talk competition, what we're really talking about is opportunity for you
to change your place and location.
Like as a sprinter, you know how fast the guy in front of you is running.
You know what your time is.
I know exactly what everybody next to me on my left, on my right, ran the week before, ran last year.
I know it all.
You have to like, it's great to know it because then you can, I mean, sometimes you don't want to,
but you can gauge yourself off of those other people.
Well, but you also get to gauge yourself that if you're, if you are running, you know, a 10,300,
then you should also know is that your max?
Mm-hmm.
And you should never be satisfied.
That's the rule of the game.
Never satisfied. Never satisfied. Always hungry.
You run a 10-3. The guy next to you, you know, has run a 10-1 before.
You're like, okay.
Well, he's working too.
Good. And he's working too.
Yeah. It's always, it's having, this is wherever you are, having people that are better than you next to you, working with you, will make you better.
Well, but it's also you having some understanding of you making you better.
You're not really competing with them. You're competing with yourself.
The only challenge you have every day in the offseason is you.
Is you. Are you in the playbook? Are you in film study? Are you adding additional reps, additional weight? Are you doing more repetition? Are you doing it better? Are you refining your skill set? Do you, are you improving your understanding of what's being asked of you? And having a coach who will tell you, listen, my top guy I can put in doing past pro and we don't take a step back.
right if you can't do everything that is required you're the only person that can get you do it me as a coach i can try
but i don't want to have to manage motivation effort i don't want to have to manage those things
like you know look you're sitting on the couch chilling the other dude is working you're giving him
everything that he needs to succeed he needs to actually go forth with it and and use it use the tools that you're
I would only get upset with players when they did not reach out.
Like, don't show up August 1st and tell me that you've been putting in work.
I know whether you've been putting in work or not.
You know whether you've been putting in work or not.
So you can't BS me.
You can't beat me because the first time we go into sprints or we go into drills and you don't show up,
everything you just said is a lie and I don't trust you.
As a matter of fact, your teammates know that they can't trust you because you haven't gotten
stronger, faster, more aware, higher, greater IQ.
They know and you know.
And in this space, again, the big thing that you want to ask folks to do, put in the word.
And we'll, look, unfortunately, if a fan base, you won't get to see you until double.
But games are being won and lost right now, whether we're aware of it or not.
And that's a truth.
And I hope we can trust the guys to put in the work.
because we're rude for them
but the work needs to be done
immediately
we still don't know who the best 22 is
we don't know who the best 22
the players
need to know the coaches need to tell the players
I'm not saying they haven't I don't know if they have
I mean I would also like to know
you need a standard
you need a standard of how you can move forward
would you say we need like the
seven running backs room we don't know
what they're right
The general public deserves this knowledge as well.
They'll get it when they get it.
Hopefully the coaches.
Captain Show coming up next.
