Back to one-on-one with D.P.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
Appreciate, Charles.
I'll read all the text and then we'll close it out.
Bill and Bennett says, so funny is the only thing that drives college sports now.
What happens to the minds of young athletes around here that just want to wear the end?
They can still wear the end.
If wearing the end is the most important thing, you'll wear the end.
Everything else is a perk.
Everything else is a privilege.
Nothing stops any young person in the state of Nebraska
from going to the University of Nebraska Lincoln
other than their own work and their own resources.
You can do everything you can do.
If you do everything you can do academically,
you can wear the end.
Right?
You can get in.
There's a way to get in Nebraska, right?
Yeah.
I mean, as long as I mean,
the 105 roster of it, Dave,
it's going to be harder for,
I mean, you've got to be good enough, right?
Everybody, everybody's not good enough.
Right.
Right.
You talk about you want to get back to those days?
Get back to the days where everybody's not good enough to walk on.
How about that?
How about that?
Lane says gambling money goes to Big Ten schools, integrity and sports.
Again, that's all the adults in the room.
Adults in the room.
I would never allow gambling and betting to be a part of what I do.
But that's just me.
I understand it.
I understand.
A drumstick says this.
He goes to Big Ten is not big enough.
just create two conferences at Big 12 ACC, 40 teams east conference.
I think it's closer to what's being headed.
Now, you're still going to have divisions within those conferences, right?
You're going to have divisions with those conferences, but we did that.
We saw that Big Ten East and West, right?
We saw that.
Not saying it's wrong, just saying that's a thing you need to deal with.
Justin from Hickman says this depends on where the future of college football is.
Personally, I think 12 teams for a conference is ideal.
listen, Justin, I'm all in for a 12-team conference with 11 conference games for you.
Play everybody.
Right?
If you tell me you're going to do that, right?
If you tell me you're going to have 11 teams in the conference, you're going to play 10 opponents, right?
You play all 10 of your opponents, right?
There'll be a top half and a bottom half because you'll have 11 teams.
I'm okay with that.
And if you tell me that you're going to have eight conferences where this thing is in play,
and you need to line up based on business and the best decisions for everybody,
not just yourself, but here's the thing that has to happen.
The adults in the room have to stop being greedy,
and they have to stop working for themselves.
They have to work for the game.
You have to work for the greater good of the game.
If the SEC decides tomorrow that it's going to pay all 15 of its basketball,
players a half a million dollars a year, you're going to get the best players in the country.
Is Nebraska going to match that? Probably not.
Maybe, maybe not. I don't know. Is Texas ever going to allow Nebraska to outbid them for
anything? Hard to imagine. Hard to imagine. You think Ohio State's ever going to let Nebraska
out bid them? Hard to imagine. The adults in the room determine how this is going to play out.
the love of the game, it should, there should be some representation of the town, the city, the fans.
That's what it should be.
The fans have a say-so.
They've always had a say-so.
Nebraska fans have had a say-so because they show up better than any fan base in the country.
We fight and argue for it with the hope that Nebraska fans are rewarded for that fandom,
with teams that represent them as people and as cultures.
That's what you want.
And you want them to win.
Money.
I don't think money is the thing that moves at all,
but it certainly seems like.
Appreciate y'all.
Adam Caraker.
Up next on 937.
The ticket.
