But I do want to change topics a little bit into, obviously,

the college football season is coming up. I personally, I was asked this the other day, and I can't imagine not watching a game thinking about the commentators because I love it so much. I love different voices over the years that I could just listen to. And some people, I mean, I realize that I'm maybe a little bit unique in that way. A lot of people like different commentators, but I personally will tell you, shut up.

Hey, I'm watching the game over here. I wonder what they're saying. So I'm not as good at parties as watching maybe football by myself. But in any case, I wanted to, get your, you guys' ideas on, on your favorite, um, broadcasting teams. Of course, it is always kind of coming down to the current era, um, where you kind of get Fox versus ESPN and the big game there, uh, with Chris Fowler still with Kirk Herb Street, one of the, the classic, you know, kind of back in the day game day crew. Are you a Herb Street guy? I do like Herbst Street. Okay. I know there's that's,

that's, that's one Nebraska fans, maybe it's not just Nebraska fans. I feel like he's one that's for some reason losing some of the fandom that he has. Now he's got a great dog that does a lot of PR work for him. He's got a new dog, right? I didn't follow the dog one as much. Oh, the old one passed away. I think at some point it was sad because the old one passed away. Oh, okay. Well, you know,

may the other one rest in peace. But yeah, no, I don't mind Kirk Herb Street. I thought, for some reason I thought you were a Herb Street hater, but I guess not. No, no, I did. Well, I will get to it. I mean, he is among Nebraska's, he's made Nebraska fans upset before. So, yeah, there might be some that don't necessarily like him. My, uh, the other, the other side of the coin is, uh, on Fox. Of course, Gus Johnson and Joel Clat, who I think has, as, you know, they've been growing

on people. Gus Johnson was always kind of a beloved, but he's, um, very energetic. You know, so some, some people don't necessarily love that for every second and three call, uh, that there is, but some people love it. I mean, it kind of gets them more into the game. Um, you know, I'm a big Joe Tess ator fan anytime you get Joe Tess on a game. It seems to be a good one. Um, but, I'd have to say my favorite all time in college football would be another one Husker fans don't necessarily like, which is Brett Musburger, who is 87 years old at this time and not doing games anymore. But I sure do miss Brett Musburger. And although he, yeah, he's had times where he hasn't always been the most complimentary of Nebraska.

He didn't want to have one of the greatest calls for Nebraska of all time. If I can play it here with the tech issues, set it up perfectly for Mr. Brett Musburger. They're down. Cross to the middle. Yeah, so maybe he's not everybody's favorite, but when I hear that voice, I just think I'm right in my zone. I'm ready to listen to some college football.

You got a favorite broadcaster? Do you care too much who's broadcast in the game? Yeah, I definitely care. There's, you know, like, for me, I'd say I am a big Joel Clark, Gus Johnson guy. I know Gus Johnson's not for everybody, but he gives me a little bit of the Hornets announcer. Like, it's fun.

It's exciting. Like, I don't even think he's faking. And I think that's just like Gus Johnson. Like he just gets crazy with it. I think he loses himself in the moments, which is great. And I think Jill Clyde is that great kind of balancing act. Now, if you pair Gus Johnson, you know, with another really high energy guy, it's probably a dumpster fire. Like, it's probably too much all the time. But no, I think that tandem right there. Like, I'm a big fan. You know, Joel Klatt's probably personally, like one of my favorites when he's calling the games. I just think he's got a really good rhythm to

it. You know, does a great job calling it. We had Nestler, Brad Nestle actually on big fan of him. he's great whenever he's on the call. Those are some of the guys. Kirk Herb Street, you know, he's just, he's in that okay area. Don't hate him. Don't necessarily love him either. He does fine. You like him for NFL games?

You listen to a few of those? Yeah, it's not as great in the NFL. Yeah. I don't know what that is. Maybe I'm just overthinking it. I kind of like it because he has a college football angle on a lot of his takes. And I'm more of a college football fan, but it does feel out of place. Yeah, I guess that's kind of where I'm at.

Like, there is like when he's going to NFL, it's like it feels like a very different calling of the game when he's in other NFL broadcasters. I'm trying to think of other ones out there. No, Eagle isn't bad either. I don't mind him at all. He's pretty good. I think he's with Blackledge. Is that his partner? I think so. Yeah. That's another great crew right there. I think there was the ones off the top of my head that I really enjoy. But I'll always die on the guest Johnson Hill. I know he's been getting a lot of heat for some of his calls, but like, come on, man. You can't not grin a little bit when he's going off the rails.

It is very excited. Yeah, sometimes his voice cracks and he doesn't quite get it out there. But it is a lot of fun. You know, it's just like not really adding. Like I get it. You know, if I was blind, I would hate it because I'd be like, what's even happening? This guy's just screaming right now. But, you know, I think he does a great job adding the energy to it.

I will never be upset at a Gus Johnson call game. Yeah, yeah. I can't. I also, I love some of my needs of Gus Johnson. Mailman off the text line gets you some of your response, 402, 464, 5, 685. I've said I loved Keith Jackson. Now, did you, were you, did you ever get to take Pete Jackson? I suppose being born, I think you pretty much retired about the time you were born,

so probably not. No, I just know that's a name that people are fond of. Obviously, that's not one that I grew up watching, but I know that I think, I can't remember which brother it was, but I know I have an older brother that I was a big fan. Yeah, yeah, he's got a statue outside of the Rose Bowl, which was really cool when I went there. I just called it the granddaddy of the mall. He was, he was fantastic. Corian Lincoln said I always felt like Musper.

really like Nebraska. And then always a couple of guys always like to bring up his DUI. So there's another one here while there's in Lincoln. That always gets to have brought up on the text when you bring up Brent Musburger, O'Husker says Keith Jackson was the best ever. Dennyn Moville, Keith Jackson from the 80s. Yeah. Yeah, another 0778 says Keith Jackson, that guy so fast he chased rabbits for exercise.

That's great. To Keith Jackson. So, yeah, there's a lot of a lot of love for Keith Jackson. that's probably fair. Corey off the text line says, Gus is atrocious. Testator is Gus 2.0. Both are bad. So again, those are two of our favorites. Not everybody's cup of soup. Yeah, they're very excitable. So maybe if you kind of like, and I will admit, I do kind of like more of the, I don't, there's something about a calm, like old man talking to you. That's really good. Like Pat Summerall, when he paired with John Madden, was just perfect. I mean, Pat Summer was one of my favorite all time, too. And that's why I like Brett Musburger.

They just sound wise, right? I mean, they're older. They've seen a lot of football. Yeah, and that's where, you know, I think, well, let's give Joe Clack Gus Johnson some time to continue to work on that chemistry there. You know, like I said, I can understand it. I guess if you're not the biggest Gus Johnson's a fan because he does get out of control. But, you know, I was going to kick out of it. And then the Keith Jackson, I just think he's probably undisputed.

Just like one of the best to ever do it. So I don't like the textors, all them naming him, like, yeah, I'm not surprised. like he's arguably one of, you know, on that Mount Rushmore, sure, I think of when you're probably talking about broadcasters in the game. Oh, yeah. Yeah, especially for college football. Crobate, by the way, pointing out it was never a DUI for Bumsberger. It's just an open container. Oh, wow. Yeah, not too bad.

And then Jim and Lincoln, how about a shout out for Kevin Coogler as an announcer? He's from Nebraska. So, yeah, absolutely. Watching him, his career kind of take off and be kind of the primary voice for a lot of radio calls these days. Certainly has been cool. I remember watching him and growing up watching. him on big red wrap-up with Adrian Fiala and those guys. So it's been really cool to watch him continue.

And he does a lot of, there's a lot of BTN TV games as well for basketball specifically. Yeah, it's always interesting. You know, and speaking of broadcasters, you know, obviously here in Nebraska, we've had some great ones. I'm curious, you know, with Crooks stepping into the ring. Are you fan of Crooks calls so far? I mean, enough.

I'll admit, at some point that the Nebraska broadcasts, had become a little bit too homerish. Right. You know, to a degree. Like, I just, it's so I think he's, yeah, I mean, one year under his about he's been solid. Yeah, I think that's kind of where I'm at. Like, it's, it's a tough one, but I'm, I'm willing, like, I think his call is good.

He's still filling it on out. But I'm curious to see how he kind of continues to grow in that space. I'm curious about the texters, if they're a big fan of Kyle Crooks so far calling the games. Yeah. Because that's, I feel like we just don't really talk about that. I just kind of like took it over. And I haven't heard like good, bad and different about how people really feel about

him calling the games but like obviously um you know when i'm driving not watching the game like that's you know if i'm heading in for post post game or whatever it may be like that's always the one i'm tuning into and you definitely do get that homer vibe but i can also understand like you're new in the space to go anti-nebrate like that's a kind of a fine line that you got a balance there right right right before you kind of get the courtesy to be like you know what i'm going to be a little bit more critical um because i've been calling this team for 10 years and i know what good football looks like from this program what bad football so i'm willing to give him like some leeway on you know homer. It's it's kind of hard to come in there and be super critical if you're new in any space

in any job. So what it is. I mean, it's a delicate balance because you are, you're doing the home call. It's not like you're doing a biased call. Exactly. But I just at some point, it's like I don't feel like I, in certain points, it's like I don't feel like I'm getting an idea of what's going on in my car because all I keep hearing is Nebraska's getting screwed over left and right. It's like, you know, is that really what's going on? I'm kind of having a trouble kind of keeping up with that. Waterboy, by the way, gives some love to Vern Lundquist, so good name there.

J.B. says Blackledge is a Husker home. I usually turn the volume down if he's doing a game. That's kind of interesting. So maybe you don't like it even on the national call. Tim Brando always has kind of some love for Nebraska, so it's good to hear him do a game,

though. I know he's not calling games, but just radio personality. Colin Cowherd drives me nuts. You don't like Colin Cowherd? Are you kidding me? I love Colin Coward. I grew up on Colin Carhart. I have a book of him of his at my house. I mean, I get it. It's part of the bit. But he, I will never forgive him for LeBron James. We're good now. You can go. We have Ben Simmons. He's just had horrible takes. Oh yeah. And now I get it. You talk every day. I have some too. I'm just not popular enough to where people are willing to maybe go dig up all the terrible things that I've had. And I haven't, I mean, you do it for as long as you had. But yeah, I don't know. There's something about cowher that just kind of rubs me the wrong way. Well, fair enough.

Again, I kind of fell in love with broadcasting, listening to him. But part of it was being, when I first did it, it was being so frustrated with him. Because he said something against Nebraska. Yeah, yeah. But it's, like to find bombs extent. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's what you learn, too, is like, I mean, if you just listen to somebody you agree with all day, at certain points, like, well, why am I turning this on?

I already believe all these things. Yeah. If you get somebody that kind of challenged your thinking, I think that can, that can usually help. 7-8-26, a shout out Nick Faw. Yeah, former 93. having the ticket employee is maybe a couple weeks. Uh, Hill says,

uh, really enjoyed Troy Aikman and, of course, one of the best voices Greg Sharp. Of course, um, you know, absolutely for Greg Sharp. Um,

Waterboy also, uh, throws in a vote for Greg Sharp as well as mailman, uh, as well. Crowbate says cowherd Stephen A. Nick Wright can't stand them. I'm with Crowbate on that one.

I'll throw a lot out there. Uh, Aikman, hating on my Chicago Bears. Oh, yeah. Stand him because when I watch, I used to love him,

but when he's, watching Chicago Bears games, man, he is just ripping the Bears. Like any incomplete past Cam Williams says, he's like, yep, he's ever going to be a great player, you know, that's the stuff that makes you curious. Like, well, you know, I thought you're supposed to be unbiased here. You're just taking shots at my young quarterback right here. So, you know, I do like Aikman, but now of someone he's calling Bears games, we get a little bit frustrated. Well, we've talked about all fair. It seems like it's pretty popular to take shots at Caleb Williams right now for some reason, but who knows, maybe that will die down. He's got the Madden cover at least.
