Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to One-on-One with DP, brought you by Mary Ellen's Food for the Soul on 93-7 the ticket and the ticketfm.com. Welcome back, final segment of one-on-one. We're going to go to 57, and this is 56, Bob. We're going to go to 56 so that at the top, at the very top of the app, the captain shows live at 1 o'clock. And I don't, the ad programming will fix. but for our listeners in the car and at home, at the top of the hour, it's important for us to be live.
Starting point is 00:00:39 Like if I had something vitally important to say over the course of the 50, the 45 minutes that I have, I should have said it by now. This is my final message to you. And we have to be respectful of the listener. We have to be respectful of the other talent. We have to be respectful with other producers.
Starting point is 00:01:00 we have to be respectful of our sponsors. I want to thank Dan Swanson and the folks from Canopy for always reaching out, always being there and being available, doing what they do. Greatly appreciate it. You know, it's on Wednesday, but go down on Tuesday for Taco Tuesdays. And go get your shopping done.
Starting point is 00:01:17 But they help take care of the student athletes, you greatly appreciate it. I said we want to talk about controversy and all the things, the Pete Rose thing, but I understand this. The essence of sports, the essence of sports is competitive. it's friction it's friction friction and at the highest levels of sports at the highest level of sports
Starting point is 00:01:39 friction requires boundary that's why you have commissioners judges umpires officials that's why they exist why because the human element is to take advantage of the rules and the opportunity to win at all cost in the competition to remove as much friction as possible. Betters and betting lines and all of those things, they all exist. These websites exist for more information to remove betting friction. Commissioners and coaches and owners put boundaries in place so that when that friction happens, there are guidelines to it and how it will be dealt with. From the history of sports, at every level.
Starting point is 00:02:28 level. It's why you go into huddles. It's why baseball coaches have signals. It's why in every sport, you call timeouts and you have a whistle. Stop it. You're breaking the rules. Every whistle. Stop it. You're breaking the rules. Stop it. We are going to reset. Blow the whistle. Stop doing what you're doing. Get in a huddle. Go to your people. Reset. The games and the sports themselves require Full management and oversee. Why? Humans. Humans.
Starting point is 00:03:05 There are good humans, bad humans, and in between. There are no perfect humans. So what you do is you allow for missteps and then you redirect, rebrand, relook. This is a rebranding for Major League Baseball. It's a redirection. I'm not sure what it says. That's not my job. I don't have all the answers.
Starting point is 00:03:26 I'll get to the right question. The real question is, what are you saying? what is Major League Baseball saying by making the moves that it made yesterday. What is it saying? And listen, Google first. If you're going to talk about Pete Rose, talk about Pete Rose's entire life.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Don't just talk about Betty. There's more to it than that. Look at the lid. Don't just look at Pete Rose. Look at Shoeless Joe Jackson. Look at the white socks. Look at the other baseball players who were added to the list.
Starting point is 00:03:58 And why? And if you're not going to look at it and you're not going to do your research, you probably shouldn't talk. No more. Be curious. And then move on. Captain's show. Coming up on the ticket,
Starting point is 00:04:15 I appreciate y'all hanging out with me and back for the hour. Don't go anywhere. Ticket. Afternoons on a Wednesday.
