Back to one-on-one with DP.
Sponsored by the Downtown Lincoln Foundation on 93-7 the ticket.
Welcome back in one-on-one.
It is truly just one-on-one with me and the ticket listeners, Harrison Arndt wrapping things up here
before we get to the Adam Carriker show and the topic.
And I'll let you guys think about it, get the texters ready.
The highest paid Nebraska in college football recruits.
In 2026, in today's NIL era, there's some real questions that I think.
coaches have to ask each other for.
If there's a surefire guy, how surefire is?
If you want a million dollars, are you willing to give that?
Or do you split that money up and you get two guys that or maybe not quote
unquote four five star surefire athletes, but you get a couple of dudes that on paper,
you should be able to develop and also, you know, you get two for the back of one there
essentially.
I think every university does a little bit different.
Of course, if you're Ohio State and you're rolling out $50 million rosters,
get a little bit more money to work with.
But a university like Nebraska,
you know, I don't know what it looks like
inside their doors. I don't know what they have in the accounts.
But how do you build a college football roster today?
Are there ways to win advantages just by looking at the math
on do we pay a ton of money to get a surefire athlete?
Do we split this money up to get a few really good dudes?
Or maybe this guy isn't getting off a lot of money,
but we see a hidden gem.
So we're not going to just go follow what everybody else is doing.
we're going to go see what looks like a missed opportunity by all these other universities out there.
It's important to ask and it's important for coaches to know just essentially because you don't want to put yourself in a bind to where you're paying a guy a ton of money and you're not getting any production out of him or you were surefire on a guy's ability and not just ability but want to be at a university.
we've seen some really unfortunate stories already
with the player signing and then bouncing
and then signing and then bouncing again.
He's a guy who's maybe going to come in for one year
and if you're not fully sure,
he's totally locked in on staying at Nebraska for the long term
and he's just going to the next bigger paycheck.
Even if you can get him for that year,
is it worth it if he's going to go bounce
to another university the other year?
Is it, you know, uncertain?
What do you might do?
Does that make it worth it?
I just think.
It's going to be fun to go through these numbers with Adam Carrier and look at some of these
NIL deals and look at how much some of these guys are getting paid.
And then when you get to the end of these seasons, we're getting to the era now,
we can kind of go back, reflect on what some of these guys as NIL deals were proposed NIL deals.
And see, man, did we really miss out on a big swing and miss there or do we nail it and we found
the right guy for that role?
With that being said, all that's coming up on the other side.
some college football in Nebraska's highest paid athletes.
All that coming up for the Adam Caricker show.
Like I said,
I'm Harrison Arns on the ones and twos.
We got Caraccar,
we got Terrell Farley.
And then we got,
of course,
old school with J.
Foreman,
Austin Orman,
and then also of important notes,
we still have culture in coffee tonight.
That'll be from 5 to 7 p.m.
with Mike Smith.
So we still got a full day here on this Friday.
We'll be hanging out with you all the way until we get to the fourth.
Appreciate everybody listening.
Don't go anywhere.
937 the ticket.
Adam Kerker Show coming up next.
