You see, your little baby hairs, then God sweat it out.
You're going to sweat it out your baby hairs,
sweat it out your natural.
I know it's all frizzy now.
It's frizzy for the glory of Christ.
Amen, my little brothers and sisters.
And yesterday, my wife and I,
one of the most joyous moments of our life,
had the privilege to marry off our son to a beautiful young woman.
Lena and I shed tears because
21 years we had that arrow in a quiver
Psalm 27 127 we stretched that arrow in discipleship
pointed that arrow towards the purposes of God
and officially released that arrow yesterday
into everything that God is calling to do him and his new wife
yesterday at that wedding
there were black families
and white families
Hispanic families and Asian
and it was this beautiful mixture of ethnicity and race and color.
It looked like heaven.
And this morning when I was praying at 3 a.m.,
and I was praying over them and praying over their marriage,
and I was having visions of the day before.
I was reminded of the scene and revelation of the great marriage supper of the Lamb.
When the scripture tells us a day is coming when all of us who belong to Christ
will be united to him in a great wedding.
We will cast our crowns and receive rewards.
And we would eat and drink and be married.
Our robes would have been washed in the blood of the lamb.
And I actually look forward to the day
when I will be united with my Savior in person
at that great wedding.
And I was reminded that that wedding is coming for all of us
who have placed our faith in Christ.
We'll be with the Lord forever.
Hallelujah.
Come on, sister.
Hallelujah.
Come on.
That's what I'm talking about.
Hallelujah.
And thank God for earthly weddings and the joy of earthly weddings.
They are just pictures of the joy we're going to have in glory when we are married to Christ.
And I was reminded yesterday that I was crying because my perspective was off going into the wedding.
And like, man, we're losing our son.
But no, I was reminded by someone I love that I'm not losing our son.
son, I gained a daughter and increased our family with faces that don't even look like one.
And Jesus is beautiful for that.
Because the kingdom does not belong to one race or one ethnicity.
These are lies of the devil.
The gospel is for all men, all people, all races, all ethnicities.
And I was thankful for the beautiful picture we saw.
And if you are here for the first time, we were.
welcome you to 2019, where we are serious about the spread of the gospel and the multiplying of
disciples. And to all of our digital disciples watching live across the nation and around the
world, we welcome right now you are our family. We love you. We pray for you. And if you're not a
follower of Christ, we know that you're in the room. Somebody dragged you here. You crept up in
here. You're still exploring the claims of Christ. Not sure if you're a Christian confused about
why we would spend so long in praise. My prayer for you is that a day will come where you will be
snatched out of darkness and brought into this marvelous light where you will feel the joy that we feel
and the peace that we feel and you'll be able to praise with us that's my prayer for you before time is run out
today what I want to do with our time we have together I want to encourage our hearts around one thing
I want to encourage our hearts around one thing one thing at the back of this text I want to rally us
around man the Holy Spirit has been having his way all day and I may not have time to
exeat the whole thing the way that I would want to but it is the back half of the text
that I want to really bring you to and so Father in the name of the Holy One yeah yes
yes yes we feel your powerful presence in this room and across these cameras we want
you to have your way we have no way
agenda except yours. Give us spiritual stamina now to sit under the proclamation of your holy word.
Let us lean forward to hear what you will say to us from your word. Draw the brother and the
sister, the son and the daughter to yourself. I ask in the mighty and the majestic. In the
matchless name of our soon coming king, the Lord Jesus Christ. And all God's people said, amen.
And amen.
A family, one of the most difficult things that we have to deal with in our human experience
is the separation from people we love through permanent separation like death.
And if you live long enough like I have,
you will know what it feels like to be separated from somebody you love through death.
Like my father, who was no longer here, never got a chance to see what God would do with my life.
I know what it is to be separated from people I love through death.
And it's in those moments, oftentimes, for the people who may be conscious,
they will oftentimes give final words or final wishes to those who are rallied around them.
In this life, many will attempt to execute their final words and their final wishes
to what we call a final will or trust or testament.
And they use that to try to carry out to make sure,
whatever they wanted to happen after they were gone will be executed in their absence.
In the same way, the Lord Jesus tried to execute his final words and desires
through the body of teachings he gave his followers near the end of his life,
but not only through words, also through a powerful prayer,
the Lord try to communicate to us his final will and desire and testament
right through a prophetic prayer.
And for those of you who know biblical history,
you know how the Lord Jesus Christ had a ministry
that lasted some three and a half years.
And at the end of his ministry,
he rolled into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey
for what would be the final week of his earthly life
before he will be executed and raised from the dead.
According to biblical history,
during that week in Jerusalem,
he was huddled in a home,
in an undisclosed location with his followers, his final disciples who was in that room.
And in that room on a Thursday night, the Lord Jesus Christ will communicate to them
some of his most intimate teachings inside that room, candlelight burning, wine and bread
on the table.
It was in that room he would teach them about the coming ministry and person of the Holy Spirit,
how he would remind them and help them and be there for them after Christ was gone.
It was in that room the Lord Jesus Christ, in humility took off his outer garment and got down on his hands and feet and washed the feet of people he created to teach us, man, that you're never above serving.
And that the highest title you ever have in this life is to be a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
That if serving is beneath you, then leadership is above you.
and that if Jesus could get down on his knees and serve others,
you and I am not too good to serve in any capacity.
It was in that room that night, man.
A man will betray him that night into the hands of his enemies.
It was in that room he would institute the Lord's table
or what we call communion,
where he gave them bread and wine to teach them
that disrepresented his body that would be broken
and his blood that would be shed for them.
It was in that room.
He tried to prepare them for his transatlantic.
out of the world that was about to happen in just a few days and it was in that room after all that teaching
Jesus prayed the most powerful prayer that has ever been recorded anywhere in the history of the world
John who was an eyewitness of the ministry of Jesus and who was present in the room that night on that Thursday night
recorded that prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ and what theologians would call the high priestly prayer of Jesus.
Everything I just described to you
unfolded between John 13, 14, 15 and 16
and then here in John 17, John who was in that room
listening recorded the final prayers
of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I want to read to you his prayer.
John chapter 17 and verse 1.
When Jesus had spoken these words, what words?
Everything that I just shared with you.
He lifted up his eyes to heaven, making eye contact with the Father, because he listens to us when we pray.
And he said, in quotes, Father, the hour has come.
Glorify your son, that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh to give eternal life to all whom you have given to him.
Pause. Right here at the onset of the most powerful prayer ever recorded, we will also get a glimpse throughout the entire prayer of some of the most powerful theology ever recorded.
The Lord Jesus in praying to the Father makes bold declarations at the beginning of the prayer.
He says in the prayer that he had been given what? All authority.
And that with authority, he has the power to give unto men eternal life.
The word all in Greek means all.
The word all in Hebrew means all.
In English, it means all in Spanish.
It means all in French.
It means all.
All means nobody else has authority outside of Christ, and those he delegates authority too.
And he said that he had all authority to transfer to people eternal life.
Now, this is very powerful because it tells us there is no eternal life.
outside of Christ.
That men in this life
have been lied to about all the
things that happen after death.
There is no recorination.
There is no coming back as an animal.
There is no purgatory.
There is no second chance.
There is no praying people out of hell.
When people die, they wake up in eternity
either with Christ or disconnected from him.
And that there is no safe transition
out of this life apart from leaving
this life connected.
to Jesus Christ. He is the one that grants eternal life to all people. There's no death and then we
sleep and nothing happens on the other side. Lies. The scripture teaches us that when men die,
we see a body in a box, but that soul wakes up on the other side conscious of where it is.
And if that soul wakes up without Christ, that soul wakes up without eternal life.
And if we don't have life eternal, we have life in damnation. There is no second
chance. There is no gulf coming across. You can't breach that chasm. There is no doovers. This is why I say to everybody watching, especially across that camera, that this is the hour to get right with Christ. This is the hour to take your walk serious. This is the hour to feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit and repent and turn to the Lord Jesus. For tomorrow's not promised to anyone. You could get clipped in a car accident on the way home from the gathering. This is the moment right now to be saying.
Verse four, I glorified you on earth.
He says in his prayer, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.
And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
So much heat in that text.
He says, watch, I glorified you, he said, on the earth.
that is the Lord Jesus
live the life that brought glory
to the Father. What does
it mean to live a life that brings
glory to God? A life
that brings glory to God
is not a life that just sings
on a platform or preachers on a platform.
No, bottom shelf.
A life that brings glory to God
is a life that has made a decision.
I will align my mouth, my
mind, my heart, my
life, my businesses,
my bank account. I would align
all of my life with the will of Almighty God.
So in the way that I talk and the way that I live and how I do relationships and how I do friendships and how I handle my money and how I lead and all that I do, I live in such a way that people can see Christ in me.
Are you glorifying Christ with your life?
Is he glorified in the way that you talk?
Is he glorified in the way that you posts?
Is he glorified in how you steward your relationships?
Is he glorifying in how you handle your spouse or how you handle your children?
Is he glorifying in how you stand, handle your resources?
When Christ sees every part of your life, are you bringing him glory?
And I want you to see how he prayed.
He said, Father, I have watched this word, big word, accomplished what you've sent me to do.
This is the prayer of a man that lived a life.
Watch this word on purpose.
This is the prayer that what, watch.
This is the prayer of a man that lived the life.
Watch this word. That was meaningful.
That he rose every morning knowing that he had an assignment to do.
And so everything he did was intentional.
He did ministry intentionally, relationships intentionally.
He even had rest intentionally because rest is holy.
And if those of us who are in this room across this camera calls ourselves followers of Christ,
that we need to follow after them not just in singing,
But we need to follow after him and how we live
That my prayer for you look at me eye contact
Is that you will live full and die empty
That you will not arrive before glory
With anything left in you that you were supposed to do when you was in this life
I want you to live a life so empty that everything that God has put inside you to do while you are alive
You finish the work he has given you while you was here
That I want you to be a person if you're so empty that everything that God has put inside you to do while you are alive, that I want you to be a person
if you follow Christ to live a life on purpose, to live a life of meaning.
Now pause, man.
You don't need a microphone and a stage to feel like you have purpose.
You just need a sense of identity of who you are in Christ to live a life with purpose.
Come on, man.
Man, I live a life for, I preach with a sense of purpose.
I do marriage with a sense of purpose.
When Lena and I have tension, I apologize with a sense of purpose.
I don't want the son to go down on my wrath.
I disciple my children with a sense of purpose.
purpose, man. I walk up in rooms
with a sense of purpose, man. I handle
my finances with a sense of purpose.
I'm living like a steward of Christ
in every area.
Man, I'm talking to the businessman
who will govern your business
with a sense of purpose and the mother
whose husband walks
out of the door for work.
And you think that you have no ministry and no purpose
because you are stay-at-home mom.
But you don't know you could be at the kitchen
sink washing dishes
and praying over your home.
and living with a sense of purpose while you're watching dishes.
I'm talking to the mother who's dropping her kid off at school in the car lane.
And now the car lane is packed.
And instead of being on TikTok, you put the phone down.
And you turn and you look at your child in the eye in the back seat.
And you prophesied to them.
You are a leader in Christ.
You are strong in Christ.
You are a light in Christ.
And you speak light to them by the energy.
That's how you live every moment, from mundane moments to give you.
moments with a sense of purpose. This is you walking on your campus knowing that I am a witness
for Christ on my campus. This is you going into the locker room and saying I'm a witness for
Christ in the locker room. This is you being around your family or unsaved and governing yourself
in such a way that they see that there's something different on the inside of you. This is you
not being confused about what your purpose is. Your purpose is to bring God glory in every season of your
life and every sphere of influence that you have and every state that you find you. I mean,
this is you on your deathbed saying, I'm ready to meet my maker. I mean like living with a
sense of purpose. Living like, you know, time is running out, living like, you know, everyday matters
and counts. Do you live that way? Do you pray that way? Do you post that way? Do you talk that way?
Do you do relationships that way? Do you cut people off that way? Can't journey with you no further.
you are wrecking my character and my soul
love you access denied
love you from afar
access denied
every time I'm around you you're corrupting my character
and since I live and purpose
I got to disconnect myself from you
love don't mean access
I made a personal vow
to the Lord
that I will have no intimate relationships
with no men that did not love Christ
love their wife
love their kids and had character and integrity.
I know it is to get hurt by having relationships
with people that have no character.
Even that is intentional.
Cutting people off is intentional.
We've been friends for a long time, yeah.
I know. I'm in the kingdom now.
I will love you and pray for you.
Can't go to the club with you no more.
Not rolling up with you no more.
See? Some of you, your prayers are boring.
and your life is boring because you don't know who you are.
You don't know that you're full of the spirit.
You don't know that your prayers have power.
You don't know that you're anointed.
You don't know that you've been chosen and that you're called.
You don't know that you have heaven backing you up.
You don't understand that you are a secret agent of Christ wherever you are.
This is me giving the gospel to the Muslim Uber driver
and praying for people on every flight
and having a conversation in Target about the gospel
and I'll fall. This is my son at his own wedding preaching the gospel to everybody before we even
sat down to eat. Why is he doing that? Because he lives on purpose. So even at his own wedding,
before we even eat, there's in Malachi, I pray for the food. He's sharing the gospel with people
who might be in there and not save, telling them about Christ and why they need to know Christ and
why they need to come to Christ. Now let's pray for the food. That's how you live on purpose.
I think this is a game, even the wife he has on purpose. I've been praying for.
his wife from the time he came out the womb. I've been praying every week of his life that God
will bring a woman into his life that will help him in his calling and not destroy it. And you're
praying what over your kids? We can't continue to live aimlessly like we're not saved for a purpose.
Like that baby crying is how we need to be crying out to God for his will and for his ways and for
his purpose Lord. I want all of my heart, all of my mind, all of my ways to reflect your glory.
We cry out to him like that little baby
And we will not be satisfied with anything else
Except his will
And notice what he said in the text
He said he talked about the glory that was given to him
Before the world existed, pause
This is for everybody that believes the false doctrine
That Jesus is a created being
Lies of the devil
Got whole denominations built around the lie
That Jesus was a created being
How? He existed
before the world even began.
Come on, man, I'm talking to you.
He's not a creative being.
He is the creator.
You said, but Philip, wasn't he born of a virgin year?
He always existed.
He was a spirit, but a spirit can't shed blood.
I'm on a cross for the sins of men.
So Jesus had to borrow a womb so he can get a body,
so he can gain a physical body,
so that he can fulfill his feet.
purpose to break that body and spill that blood for your sins and mine.
He existed before his birth.
Birth was only the incarnation of God in the flesh.
It's why the prophet Isaiah would call him Emmanuel God with us.
It's why Isaiah saw him high and lifted up 700 years before he borrowed a wound.
And now he has that body permanently.
is what we call the hypostatic union.
He's fully God and fully man.
And the only part of the Godhead
we can touch with our hands.
He is God from everlasting to everlasting.
He just borrowed a wound and then borrowed a tomb.
Hallelujah.
And Confucius is in a tomb.
And Buddha is in a tomb.
But there is one man.
Tomb.
The tomb is ever.
I've been there.
He is, he and giving praise in his house.
Alive.
Alive.
Alive.
On the inside of you, alive, alive, alive.
Alive, alive.
Alive.
Alive.
Alive.
Alive.
Alive.
This ain't no funeral.
We don't serve a dead God.
We serve a God that buried a tomb.
He's alive.
Come on, man.
I was in a false religion.
Bowing down five times a day and not eating pork and doing all these things and feeling dead and empty on the inside
Until a God that existed in heaven wrestle me down to the floor in the bathroom over a toilet seat
Unzipped me fill me with the spirit
Sit me back up and set me on fire for him because he is alive
Your life
Religion can't do that
And dogma can't do that
And dead traditions can't do that
He changed your life
Why you don't got to get into no theological debates with fools
Just tell them your testimony
From ratchet to righteous
Gonna clock all the devil's teeth
Can we finish his prayer
I just want to jump off the stage
and run one good time, y'all.
He continues his prayer.
In verse 6,
I have manifested your name
to the people whom you gave me
out of the world.
The people the father gave him.
The people the father gave him.
He's praying and said,
I've manifested your glory
to the people you gave me.
And this is for everybody
who's dealt with shame,
insecurities,
mistakes,
loss,
high body count,
feeling unworthy.
And yet some way, somehow,
in all that mess,
the father hunted you down,
plucked you out of the world,
and handed you to Christ,
engraved you on the palm of his hand,
and wrote your name in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Is anybody thankful that you're saying?
Powerful what happened in your life?
When you get to the point, you don't need God to give you trinkets and toys to be thankful.
I'm going to say this a hundred times until I'm no longer the pastor.
Don't need a car, don't need a new house.
Don't need a bigger bag or promotion at my job.
Don't even need a husband or a wife.
I just see the cross and I get a flashback of where I used to be.
When you learn to be thankful for salvation, everything else he adds to that.
Causes your heart to explode with gratitude.
The cross is enough to be thankful for for the rest of your life.
I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world.
I'm so thankful the Father gave me to Christ.
He gave you to Christ.
Yours they were and you gave them to me.
And they have kept your word.
Now they know that everything that you have given me
is from you.
For I have given them the words that you gave me.
I have given them the words that you gave me.
Should that not be the subject of every real sermon?
Do we want the words of men or the words of scripture?
We got to stop loving sermons and preaching that are full of the words of men.
But there should be the words that the Father gave us to give to men.
That's why Paul told Timothy preach the word
Not opinions
Not dogma
Not TED talks
I know you want to get to the restaurant
Let me finish
Nah you ain't good
This this food ain't good enough
You gotta get to Chippole
You already got your online order at Chippole
Now we want this bread with the oil on it
Man shall not live by bread alone
but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
For I have given them your words.
The words that you gave me.
He's praying.
And they have received them is what I want you to do.
Receive the word.
And they have come to know in truth that I came from you.
He came from glory.
And they have believed that you sent me like he has sent you in this.
room. I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world. The most important prayers for Christ,
he did not waste on people that did not want it. His most important prayers fell on the hearts of
those who were his. So he said, I ain't praying for the world. They have rejected me. I'm praying
now for these who have received what I've given them. For they are yours. Verse 10, all are mine
All mine are yours and yours are mine.
And I am glorified in them.
Is Christ glorified in you?
Is Christ glorified in you?
I want you to rise every morning just desiring for Christ to be glorified.
Like Lord, I want you to be glorified in me.
I want my heart, my thoughts, my ways, the way I deal with people.
I want my life to bring you glory.
And I am no longer in the world.
Let me finish the prayer, but they are in the world.
And I am coming to you, Holy Father.
Keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.
Man, I just want to say this, but we are listening to Christ cover his disciples in prayer.
Praying for their protection, praying for their fruitfulness.
And listen to me carefully.
contact. I know we get excited about things we can touch. But man, it's far more powerful. When
the day comes, you start getting excited about things that are intangible that are far more
valuable. Like having people in your life who will cover you in prayer. You know what a blessing
it is to have people in your life that actually covers you in prayer? You'll be sleeping and
they're praying for you. You'll be in trouble and they're praying for you. You'll be in trouble and they're
praying for you. That's why I thank God for Rhonda Jackson and our prayer team and people who
cover me and my wife and my children and my ministry in prayer. You have no idea the doors that
have opened for you because somebody was praying or what you've been protected from because
somebody was praying or the car accident you survived because somebody was praying or when you
see me posting on my social media, man, I'm praying for you in tears, man. I ain't doing that.
for no show and no glory.
I'm somewhere alone in a room,
my face to the floor trying out for you.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't cover you in prayer.
The entire global family of 2019,
I wring out my heart from sin and I shed tears over you in prayer.
I pray for your homes, your marriages, your children, your businesses, your investments.
I shed tears over you.
Watch this word.
Daily.
And when you have friends that know how to cover you in prayer,
honor them and don't take them for granted.
You welcome.
While I was with them, I kept them in your name.
Verse 12, which you have given me.
I have guarded them because he protects us.
And not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction who was Judas, who betrayed Christ but did not repent.
He committed suicide because of guilt.
He ended up fulfilling the scriptures.
He went to damnation.
but now I am coming to you
and these things I speak in the world
that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves
I have given them your word
I have given them your word
I have given them your word
and the world has hated them
because they are not of the world
and so when you find people hating on you
because of your walk with Christ
just know you're in good company
and that anybody that truly lives with convictions
you will have people that don't like you
You will make people uncomfortable.
Even people with your own last name will not like you.
And sometimes the devil in his foolery.
He will announce to people who truly sons and daughters of God
by all the hate he brings around real men and women of God.
That's what I'm going to say a billion times.
The devil will never attack what he owns.
Said, Pastor Philip, they're always attacking you on social media
and they're always attacking 2819 because the devil will never attack.
what he owns. Let somebody rise up with truth. Let somebody rise up with convictions. Let somebody
decide to make a stand. Let you decide to say, I'm going to live a life for Christ for real.
People will stop liking you. Sometimes the hate that comes against you is a sign to you that God is
bragging on you. While all of a sudden they don't like me on the campus or out my job or
all I did was decide to live for Christ and speak up for Christ. I start posting up for Christ. I start posting
about Christ and people start unfollowing me and why they doing that to me. Where are you at? Who said
that? Started posting for Christ and people started unfollowing you. Yeah, I know. Blessed are you
when men persecute you and revile you and say all men of evil against you for his name's sake.
Rejoiced and be exceedingly glad for great is your reward in heaven. You know what my sister?
Some of them people that hate them on you and unfollowing you,
they don't even know they're increasing your heavenly bank account.
They think they're hurting you.
They're actually blessing you.
You heard what I said to you?
This is what gives you freedom to pray for your enemies.
They're actually blessing you.
Yeah.
All that hatred is a sign that the Lord is bragging on you.
Obviously, you're living for Christ.
And the devil is aggie about that.
He's upset about that.
But you're in good comfort.
company for so persecuted before you were the prophets that came and even Jesus himself.
Welcome to my world. What's your name?
Octavia. Have we ever met before? Nice to meet you. Octavia.
Air shake. Welcome to my world. We good though. When you arrive, you're going to see what your haters have provided for you in glory.
Let me finish this so you can get the chip.
Pole. Listen.
He said, sanctify them.
Now, this is important.
Everybody watch the words of your Savior in his prayer.
Watch.
And after this, I'm going to land the plane.
Watch.
Verse 17.
Pay attention.
Sanctify them in truth.
Your word is truth.
Look at me.
This is what you want.
You don't want to be entertained by empty sermons.
and cotton candy gospel that makes you feel comfortable in sin.
Listen to me.
What you want, you want to be confronted.
You want to be convicted.
You want to be challenged.
You want to be changed.
You want to be sanctified in truth.
His word is truth.
To be sanctified is to be transformed little by little from the inside out through the constant contact with God's word.
and this is why I want to encourage you
before I land the plane on this text
whatever your problem is
see what the word has to say
about your problem. You struggle
with lust, what does the word
have to say about that? Struggle with
relationships, what does the word have to
say about that? Struggling with marriage,
what does the word have to say about that?
Dealing with anxiety, what does
the word have to say about that? Dealing
with fear, what does the word have to say
about that? Is it past the hood? How do you find that? I mean, use
chat, use claw, use whatever you
What does the Bible say about struggling with anxiety?
Do that for the rest of your life and listen to biblical teaching and you will be sanctified.
You will be transformed because the end goal of Christianity is not to be rich or famous or platforms or get a bag or Instagram following.
The end goal of Christianity is that you will be disciples in spiritual formation and character.
So when you die, you look like the person who saved you.
That the mind of Christ will dwell richly in you.
And you will look like Him in character as you sent me into the world.
So I have sent them into the world.
Pay attention.
And for their sake, I consecrate myself that they also may be sanctified in truth.
Now, everybody listened to me very carefully.
Listen to me.
Up until now, everything he prayed was for the men in that room.
Look, but what he prays next,
In these final verses, I'm about to read to you, is what he will pray for every person that came after them.
I don't understand, Philip.
What I'm about to read to you next is what Jesus prayed for you and for me and for the whole church globally.
And I want you to notice when I read it, the first thing that the Lord prayed for you was not for you to be blessed.
He did not pray for you.
you to get money. He did not pray for you to get a husband or a wife. He did not pray for healing.
I want you to see the very first thing Jesus prayed for you and for me. In the final prayer
he ever prayed, so we should pay attention to his final words. What did he pray for you?
the very first thing Christ ever prayed for you and I.
Verse 20, here is the transition in the prayer.
I do not ask for these only the disciples,
but also for those you who will believe in me through their word,
talking about everybody who will be saved after them.
Here you come in the text,
that they may all be.
one just as you father are in me and i in you that they also may be us so that the world may believe that you have sent me
the glory that you have given me i have given to them that they may be one even as we are one
in them and in you and me, and they may become perfectly one,
so that the world may know that you sent me and love them,
even as you have loved me.
Ever made for you and for me, he prayed that we would be what?
One.
That means he was praying against discord.
and praying against strife and praying against this unity.
He was praying that the church would be watched,
one, that we would have unity.
And by having unity, the unbelieving world would see and believe that Jesus sent us.
You know why the world would want nothing to do with the church?
Why would they want anything to do with a church that is schizophrenic struggling from bipolar disorder?
hating each other, crucifying each other, slandering each other with your sin, fighting each other because social media, why did they want any part of that mess?
See? The Lord knows we're more powerful when we are united than when we are divided.
No, I'm talking to you now. And that the first thing he prayed for you and I is that we will learn to have this word called unity.
Listen to me, man.
Unity does not mean we agree about everything.
That's called uniformity.
That probably will never happen because we have individual wills.
But you can have minor disagreements and still have unity around things that way we have value alignment.
But you know what the devil knows?
Look at me.
He knows he could stop us and slow us down from power.
if you just make us always be fighting against each other.
And that's why in the body of trust,
we've got all these fault lines that make us divided.
Divided between race,
sin working through racism keeps us divided.
Sin working through doctrine keeps us divided.
Sin working through your choice of political parties makes us divided.
Sin working through through we baptizing the name of Jesus
or baptizing the father, son, the spirit.
All these things make us divided.
That's why we look like a joke.
If you want to see a powerful family, a powerful marriage, a powerful church, just let them have unity.
You want to see a powerful friend group, let them have unity.
And by unity, people will look from the outside and say something is different about them.
They will know that Jesus exists by our unity, not just by our sermons.
Look at me.
I'm closing.
But you know what?
The truth is, I'm not even sure if we can pull that off.
Because this is what theologians call the unanswered prayers of Jesus.
Then Jesus prayed a prayer that has not yet been answered.
Why?
Because God ain't strong enough or we're so divided amongst all these things that are ancillary, some of them,
and worthless some of them.
Imagine not having unity with a white brother because I'm a black brother,
and we don't have unity because of something we could not control at birth.
And the truth is, the truth is, I'm not sure if we will ever have unity because we probably will never have unity around politics.
It's probably not going to happen.
We're not going to have unity around sexism and feminism and masculine.
We're probably not going to have unity around doctrine.
Some will be Calvinist.
Some will be Armenian.
Some believe in gold therefore.
Some believes in predate.
Like, we're probably not going to have unity around all the, it's probably not going to happen.
I don't know.
I've been walking with the Lord for 22 years.
It still hasn't happened yet.
But there is one place where we can't have unity.
No matter our skin color, no matter our political affiliation,
no matter what you believe about baptism,
I know one place where we could set aside all of our differences for just a moment to have unity.
Because there is one thing we can't agree about.
And we can't agree around this one thing that in the sermon on the Mount,
Jesus told all of us to pray.
And that prayer is the one place I know we can have unity.
That at the place of prayer, we can set aside all of our differences, all of our political affiliations, all of our dogma, all of our fault lines.
It's why on October 10th, at 7 p.m. Central Standard Time, when 80,000 of us will gather inside of AT&T Stadium and maybe thousands more outside.
I mean, shoot, if you can tailgate for a football game, you can tailgate for Jesus.
And hear the cry of my heart.
I'm speaking to all 80,000 of us who got tickets.
And if you can't come, release your ticket for somebody to come.
And don't sell it.
The devil rebuke.
Look, the Satan?
The Lord rebuke you.
Don't sell tickets for something that's free.
That is demonic and it is sinful.
The Lord rebuke you.
Don't do that.
And what I am saying is.
saying on that day for the space of 60 minutes for one hour, I'm asking all 80,000 of us,
thousands outside. You know what? I'm calling on the entire body of Christ across America and
around the world that for the space of one hour we can put aside our racism and put aside
our political affiliation and put aside our sexism and our feminism and all of the things.
we can set aside all the things that make us divided.
And for the space of one hour, we could come together in unity to do what we all have been called to do.
Pray.
You said, but Philip, what if I can't get inside the stadium?
You can pray from your home.
You can pray from the car.
You can pray from any way you want.
7 p.m. Central Standard Time on October 10th.
I'm calling the entire family of 2819 Global.
I'm calling Christians across America and around the world for one hour, just one hour,
to lay aside all of our differences.
And let's honor the prayer of Jesus to be one.
We may not be one in politics or one in race or one,
but we could be one in prayer.
That we all have been called to do it.
And for that space of one hour, we will pray for our homes.
and pray for our children
and pray for our needs
and pray for our cities
and pray for our nations
and pray for the kingdom to come and the will to be done
pray for the spread of the gospel
pray for the planting of churches
pray for missionaries
pray for the persecuted
brothers and sisters
outside the United States who have
one page of the Bible and being put
to death by radical ideologies
for the space
of one hour the white man can stand next to the black sister and pray and put aside our racism
and our differences the democrat can stand next to the republican and put aside their political
affiliation and pray as brothers man for the space of one hour i'm calling our family i'm calling the body of
christ globally this is bigger than 2019 one hour of prayer across america during access
where we honor the prayers of our Savior who said, Father, I would that they would be what?
One.
It's the one place where we can come together in unity to just pray and believe that we would see signs, wonders, miracles, deliverance, healing, reconciliation, married couples will be put back together, relationships will be restored.
I believe sick bodies is going to be here.
killed inside of the room and in homes across America. I believe cancer is going to be dried up.
Blind and eyes might see, doctors are going to be confused after that day.
My father, Lawrence Mitchell, on his deathbed, he was dying of cancer, October of 2012.
And my wife and my children would go down to their home.
My parents followed me to Atlanta, and we lived in Claycoe in these small little homes,
800 square feet.
And down the door from me, my father was dying.
I'm getting ready to plant the ministry, and my father's dying.
Something in my life is birthing while something in my life is dying.
And my wife and I will go down to my father's home and my mother.
And we would just gather around his bed.
And we would kneel and we would pray and we would ask God to heal him of cancer.
And then a few more came.
And a few more came.
It was 12, 13, 20 of us praying.
And we would do this every Wednesday night.
we will pray for my father.
And the Lord did not heal him in this life.
He is healed now in glory.
And before my father died, he said,
son, I want you to keep a time of prayer going.
Final words.
Three months after I started in the ministry, October of 2012,
my father in December slipped into eternity,
never got a chance to see what God would do with his son.
I appreciate that.
And so we kept that prayer going.
and I would invite people over to the home and we would keep praying.
And then one day read an axe.
I stumbled on the passage that said Peter and John went into the temple for our prayer.
And then I would start putting people out the house for after hour.
And I would limit the prayer to 60 minutes.
And one day I gave it a name and I called it Axis.
And for 13 years, we've been keeping that hour of prayer honoring my father's last words.
And we moved it out of our church to the nation now.
and calling the nation to an hour of prayer.
And I'm not asking you to pray to honor my father.
I'm asking you to pray for that hour to honor your heavenly father
to honor your savior that prayed.
Lord, let them be one.
He said, if my people will call by my name would humble themselves and pray,
seek my face, turn from their wicked ways.
I'll hear from heaven.
I'll like this next word and I'll heal.
Our nation needs healing.
Our government needs healing.
Too many marriages need healing.
People we love need healing.
Spiritual, healing, mental, emotional.
We need an outpoint of God's spirit on our nation.
And that ain't coming because of sermons.
That's coming because of prayer, repentance, and gospel proclamation.
And this is my prayer for you.
that on that day, on that hour across America and in that stadium, we will be one.
So Father, in the name of Yeshua, I pray you will pour out a spirit of hunger and desire and prayer over the brothers and sisters.
I pray God in that hour at 7 p.m. Central on October 10th, men and women across the country and 80,000 of us at AT&T Stadium will set us
our differences. I pray we would set aside racism and politics and all manner of fault lines
that keep us separated in some way somehow. I pray during that hour would come up to your throne
from the nation, from Texas, around the country, God, and around the world, crying out to you
saying, Lord, your kingdom come and your will be done. Praying for brothers and sisters around the
world, praying for our homes, praying for our cities, our nation, our churches, praying unto you
our Savior, our Father.
Pour out the spirit of intercession upon us and consecrate us for that hour.
I pray, God, the nation will be shaken on that day and that the unbelieving world will see
something and marvel to the glory of your name and that we would reap the best of the best of
benefits of answered prayers in our personal lives and the lives of family members and friends.
I ask this in the mighty and the majestic and the matchless name of our soon-coming king,
the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, if you receive all of that in unity, put your hands together
and give God a radical praise in this house.
