Starting point is 00:01:06 See app for details. We'll look back and wish we'd made more of such a special occasion. I'm not overthinking this. Should I stop trying to make an 18-50 big event, but it's set which you're quite lined with the family might be exactly what you want? Or is there a way of making it be really special without turning a huge celebration of forcing her out of my comfort zone? Thank you so much so I would.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Oh, I don't know how you're going to feel about middle of you. Although the Underwire brow is back. I know I said this two weeks ago, but I'm still saying it. Like, I don't know what to do. And welcome to 40-ish. I'm Nicole Goodman. And I'm Lauren Mishkan. I am so tired.
Starting point is 00:02:17 I had five and a quarter hours sleep last night. That's not bad. Five and a quarter hours? Yeah. It's not ideal. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:02:25 It's not optimal. Totally and utterly my own fault. What were you watching? The Substance again. Why? It's the weirdest film. Oh, my God. Quazzo, if you haven't ever seen the substance,
Starting point is 00:02:40 you don't even need to read a feminist text. You don't even need to read any Gloria Steinem. All you need to do is watch this film. It tells you more about aging and women and vanity and society than you will ever see it in any other film. It is the most disturbing, gross, body horror, fucked up, ridiculous story. It is amazing.
Starting point is 00:03:03 I'm so upset still for Demi Moore that she didn't win the Oscar for that film because she was stunning in it. Zero vanity. What she went through in that film. You know what? We've already done a segment on the substance years ago when it first came out. I know why I did this because we've been very, very, very busy with work and I have had much less downtime.
Starting point is 00:03:26 So I am doing that thing of bedtime revenge, procrastination. We covered this on a lot of. sleep show in self-care club. It's when you don't feel like you've had enough free time in the day. So you rob yourself of sleep to like give yourself free time. Yeah. So I sat on the sofa. I watched traitors. Then I watched RuPaul's Drag Race. Then the substance was starting. And I thought, well, it's now 1115. I'm obviously not going to start watching a film at 1115 midweek. Oh, but I did. And then I, then it got to 1 a.m. and I thought, this is ridiculous. Come on. You've got a really busy day working, got this out on the other. I thought, well, so I need 20 minutes to go.
Starting point is 00:04:01 I watched the whole thing and I'm exhausted today and it's totally my own fault. But my God, what a good film. People already seen it. I know, but I just, it's an amazing movie. Is that why you didn't get dressed today? Well, I got dressed and I went to Pilates. I could not believe it. These, they're nice leggings.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Thanks, they are the CR. Yeah, I could see the CRZ Yoga. They're fantastic, those leggings. I bought Lily Rose another pair because they're seamless. She's very funny about leggings. These have a nunny scene Yeah Yeah but I don't care
Starting point is 00:04:34 And then she literally came in She said can you get me another pair I'm like sure Because they were in the Amazon Prime Sale day 17 23 pounds Oh good that's good Yeah
Starting point is 00:04:44 They're all right I mean I don't adore them But I sort of I lay down on the reformer this morning In Pilates and when we did the leg exercises I just shut my eyes I just did them like half asleep Because I was that time
Starting point is 00:04:57 Oh I had such a hard workout this morning in the gym and then someone came and actually, do you know what? I'm a bit of a fitness influencer at the David Lloyd. Are you? I put a post up last week. Yeah. Two weeks ago about my pull-ups.
Starting point is 00:05:11 You're what? Pull-ups. Pull-up nappies. Like the ones you put the tunnel is in when they're not dry at night. It's unbelievable how your brain and my brain works. What's a pull-up? That's a pull-up to me. What's a pull-up?
Starting point is 00:05:25 A pull-up is a pull-up. Is the nappies that pull-up. Are you joking? No. It's when you pull your whole body weight up. Well, like that? Yeah. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Why do you want to do that? Because it's like, it's really hard. Oh. So why do you want to do that? Anyway, I did three unassisted pull-ups. I feel like this story is now just lost because you're just like, you think it's a nappy. Well done. Is three good?
Starting point is 00:05:56 The fact that I can even do one is good. One is good. One is hard. I've never tried to do this. I've no concept of how easy or hard this is. It's they're impossible. Okay. Put this way.
Starting point is 00:06:07 How long have I trained for? 15 years. Yeah. And through the years, occasionally I've been able to do one maximum two pull-ups. Right. So the fact that I could do three. I mean, there's some people that could do ten. It's easier for men to pull-up to do pull-ups because they're naturally stronger in their
Starting point is 00:06:22 lats. Where's your lats? Back. Okay. It sounds like the sort of thing you would see in like a training. montage scene in Rocky. Yeah. Like you see...
Starting point is 00:06:33 Classic. Okay. Along with the... Yeah. Sounds like something you'd see in that. Yeah. Okay. So did you do it?
Starting point is 00:06:39 And then were people like seeing you counting your three and then did you get a clap? Someone came up to me in the gym. Yeah. And he was like, oh my God. I saw your pull-ups. Well done. I'm like, thank you so much because I've never been able to do that. Like I am so delighted that someone was witness to my pull-ups.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Well, there must have been lots of people witnessed to it if it was in the gym. Well, no. but no one's sitting there watching other people training. Oh, I don't know. Okay. What do you think? We're all like waiting around for everyone to do something. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Yes, you do. You've been in a gym? Well, I don't really know the gym etiquette. Well, standing around while someone's training is weird. Okay, I'll take the word. And a touch creepy. So that doesn't happen. Or like counting your reps with.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Only if you're training with someone. Anyway, I filmed it. Right. I never do. Yeah. Which is such a fitness influence and thing to do. Yeah. I got like a bit of a twat, but I really didn't care because I did three pullups.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And then I put it on Instagram. Yeah. Did you not see it? No. Oh. On your Instagram? Yeah. No.
Starting point is 00:07:41 Anyway, I put it on my Instagram and then people that I play a paddle with. Yeah. They came up to me. Yeah. Throughout the week. Yeah. And they did exactly the same and they filmed their pull-ups and they showed me their pull-ups. Wow.
Starting point is 00:07:56 And how many were they doing? How here is that? How many were they doing? Because I've inspired them. Did you win? It's not a competition, you know. I mean, I feel like if I'd seen it, I would have looked at it and been like gym, scroll, Jim, scroll on.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Do you know what I mean? It's like if I was like, if I did like a chicken. Yeah, planting and flat. You know what? You know what I mean? You'd be like gardening. No. No.
Starting point is 00:08:22 You know what I would do? What? I would think, oh, that's my good friend and business partner there. I'm going to watch her. video, show her some support, like, you're always in the gym. Like the video, you never see me in the gym, you never see what I do in the gym, like the video, comment on the video because that's supported. Should we just scroll back and find it? Yeah. And then leave you like the biggest comment. Please. Okay. I will do that. Yeah, I will. But I'll do it very serious. You don't, you don't.
Starting point is 00:08:50 You don't need to scroll over. I think it was the last post. I never post anything on my main account. I don't think I really do either on my personal account. But I, okay, I'm going to find it. I can do like a real serious. What are you going to write? I don't know. I think about it over the weekend. I need to let it marinate. I am so excited.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Corrupting this episode very quickly to say that if you are loving 40-ish, we would be so grateful if you could share this episode or this show with a friend. The more ears we reach, the more we can keep bringing 40-ish to all the brilliant midlife women who need to hear it. Let's move on. I'm going to tell you the feedback. It's a bit sad. but I mean, I get it, because we hear this all the time.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It's from Sarah. Maybe she's a Sarah, but it's Sarah without an H. So it could be Sarah or Sarah. Hi, ladies, I feel this so much. I don't know what she's feeling. I feel this. She's obviously replying to something. I feel this on Spotify.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Yeah, Ari, the struggle with my GP and perimenopause. Oh, this was two weeks ago, two weeks ago's episode or three weeks ago. And we talked about there was an article. It was in the Midlife News section. and there was an article about women basically being underserved at the GPs. Oh, please, Assange. I am back and forth like a yo-yo and having to go in each time and tell them what is wrong, what they need to give me, etc. It's exhausting.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Yeah, it is. They sit there and just blankly listen. There is no discussion. No. Last week when I said I need my hormone levels checking, they said, you need to arrange some backup support. No, I need you to sort out my hormones. Oh, so frustrating. Oh, so sorry.
Starting point is 00:10:39 It's so not good enough. It also sounds really judgy. It does. But obviously, she's probably seeing a different doctor every single time. So doesn't everyone need some backup support and also some hormones? Can't we have both? Yeah. Is that not allowed?
Starting point is 00:10:57 Yeah. Yeah. Like we're all fucking winging it at this age, being eight people, when we're just one person. We're all winging it at every age. That's what I realized when I first had the kids Like I remember turning around to my mum going Oh You didn't have a clue either
Starting point is 00:11:14 Now I understand That's why I always say to Max You are my experiment child Yeah I experimented on you Then I did it better second and third time around But actually he came out great Yeah
Starting point is 00:11:25 So it's fine Yeah he did Yeah Great Yeah But I also tell him that's because it was Very young fresh eggs Very young fresh eggs
Starting point is 00:11:33 I think that's why he got the best of the gene balls you know those eggs were like were barely done they were like you could float them in water how old were you when you had max 25 years old
Starting point is 00:11:46 right so you were 24 when you got pregnant with him yeah I was wow yeah they were like birthed brown oh I like a birthed egg me too yeah quality fresh out of them yeah they're expensive though they are fucking expensive
Starting point is 00:12:00 when Zach's home from America I do not buy birthed browns because that kid eats five kids eggs every morning yeah five eggs five eggs wow yeah it's a lot of eggs oh i don't know how you're going to feel about midlife news although i feel you're leaning into this trend the underwire bra is back sorry where did it go it went where it went during covid i'm actually in an underwire brawl brown you're always are these days uh we're all supposed to be very excited apparently that the underwire i don't know where it went where did it go but according to the
Starting point is 00:12:32 Guardian, under wide bras have been popping up all over the catwolds. Prada, Tom Ford showcased them in their latest collections. Rihanna, Charlie X, X, X and Anya Taylor Joy. They've also been embracing the look, wearing bras as outerwear, making lingerie a statement. Braves as outerwear. That's not new. Madonna did that in the 90s. Yeah, she did. Fashion has clearly decided the era of the comfortable brawlit is over. But the 90s are back.
Starting point is 00:12:56 Yeah. After years of elasticated waistbands, oversized shirts and bras that feel more like a gentle hug than a medieval torture device, we are apparently ready to embrace structure, lift and va-va-voom again. Vava-boom. Vava-voom. I'm sorry, I can't be fucked with va-va-voom.
Starting point is 00:13:13 That I haven't got any capacity for. Well, they do give a bit more va-va-voom. Structure I'm here for. Lift. I'm there for lift. I don't want to walk in a room and someone goes, Vava-boom. That would creep me out.
Starting point is 00:13:28 When we had to do our doctor-doctor-doctory interview, the other week. I had on a blouse, like a silky blouse. And in the morning, I put on like a normal bra and put the blouse on. And I was like, no, they are swinging too low. Oh. Put on a proper bra. Put the proper bra and put the shirt on.
Starting point is 00:13:47 I was like, that's better. That's better. Vava voo. They're where they should be. You know, I did think Baba vooom when you walked in that day. Shut up. And then after watching the substance last night with the girl and the substance, oh my God, the body like, I.
Starting point is 00:14:01 I actually learned afterwards they were not her own bisms, but in the film they looked like it. I was like, oh, that's where they're supposed to be. That tie. I remember that. I remember those days. Do you? I don't. They were great.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I loved those days. Well, now you can happen those days back because... No, because when the bra comes off, they don't stay. Also, sorry, but what underwired bras are so uncomfortable. Well, that's the whole point. That's what the article's about. For women in midlife, the relationship with the underwired bra is... complicated. We remember the days of being hoisted into something that promised to give us perfect cleavage, separate our breasts into two beautifully defined hemispheres and make us look like we have been professionally assembled. I thought you've written this. I haven't. Then the Guardian basically says that COVID put us in this place where we were like working from home living in leggings and then wearing wireless bras.
Starting point is 00:14:55 It was six years ago. We all gave up bras in COVID. Come on. But you say that. You are sat here in leggings. Yeah, but that's because I actually went to Pilates this morning. I'm not wearing them as fast. I'm just saying one of us made an effort, one of us didn't. I made an effort to go to my exercise class on five and a half hour's sleep. You should be very pleased with me. You should be very pleased with me. So pleased.
Starting point is 00:15:17 I could have bended it off and I did the bloody dog walk. I'm so pleased for you. I've moved this morning. I've moved. Well done. I wanted to lie. Sit. I did not.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Anyway, I get it. But I don't want to wear it. it as outerwear. You with your six-pack, you could wear it as the outerwear now. That could be a look for your 50th birthday. A bra. Just a bra and trousers. They'd have to be very high-waisted. Up to the bottom of the bra. Yeah. So with the six-pack, you could just wear the bra. Pull the full Rihanna. No, it's not about showing the six-pack off. It's about knowing it's there. No one else needs to see it. I mean, the only place, the only place, I mean, the only place, I would comfortably have the six-pack out is in the gym.
Starting point is 00:16:08 At the swimming pool? Yeah. You know what I mean? During a day. I mean, I would worry if you were 50 and you were walking around the local streets in a bra. At any age. No. No.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I wouldn't want my girls walking around the street in a bra. No. You wouldn't. No. But especially not at a 50. No. Well, not even especially not a 50. Don't age shame people.
Starting point is 00:16:33 They can do what they like. there's a time and a place. No, there isn't. Not for just to walk around in a bra. Unless you're like on stage and you're a pop star. Wish you could skip this ad? We get it. Wish you could just skip to retirement?

Starting point is 00:18:43 Hello, ladies. My mum is turning 80 next year and I'm already starting to panic about what we should do to celebrate it. She absolutely hates being the center of attention. She already said she doesn't want a big party. It doesn't want a roomful of people making speeches about her. It definitely doesn't want everyone making a massive fuss. but it feels like quite a big milestone just to let it pass with a card and a bunch of flowers. I suggested going away somewhere nice as a family, maybe renting a villa or going somewhere warm,
Starting point is 00:19:11 but she is not great with travelling far anymore. She hates flying and she's equally terrified of boats. Oh, I also hate boats. So that rules out pretty much every holiday idea I've come up with. Even the thought of getting on a ferry fills her with dread. She also finds travelling tiring these days, so I don't want to suggest saying that ends up being more stressful. than enjoyable for her. My siblings and I are trying to come up with ideas, but everything seems to involve either a big party she doesn't want or a trip she's too anxious to go on. I just wanted to have
Starting point is 00:19:41 a lovely birthday and feel properly celebrated without her miserable in the process. Part of me thinks we should just respect her wishes and keep it small, but another part of me worries that will look back and wish we'd made more of such a special occasion. Am I overthinking this? Should I stop trying to make her 80th into a big event and accept that a quiet lunch with the family might be exactly what she wants, or is there a way of making it feel really special without turning it into a huge celebration of forcing her out of her comfort zone? Thank you so much, Zoe. Hmm.
Starting point is 00:20:13 I feel triggered by this. Why? Because I've got a big birthday coming up, but I also can't decide what to do. It's not your 80th? It's by 50th. You feel triggered by that. I thought you were going to say, because you've just made your dad his 80th. I have just made my dad.
Starting point is 00:20:30 My dad made my dad's eight years. But your dad wanted a good proper celebration. Fucking hell, I have never celebrated so much. He's almost 81. We've only just been celebrating. I mean, he had main character energy for that 80th birthday. He did. He did.
Starting point is 00:20:45 He did. He had a big party. We went away for three days with family. We walked. We did a whole fundraising walk from Eastbourne to Brighton. We raised nearly 40,000 pounds for that. We did so much for his 80th. Your dad is the opposite.
Starting point is 00:21:03 He is the opposite of this lady. Yeah. Yeah. I was exhausted. Yeah. My first thought is... But you're not great with birthday, so I think you're not the best place to answer. Actually, I have a really good idea about this, what they should do.
Starting point is 00:21:20 But I also want to say, is this birthday about your mom or is it about how you and your siblings feel about it? Because I do understand, I do get it, like they want to look back and feel like they've done the right thing. The thing is with an 80th is that not everybody will get to 90th's. Yeah, that's what I mean. But is this birthday about your mum or is this birthday about you and your siblings? And who do you want it to be about? But having said that, I had lunch today with my friend whose mother is having her 80th next year. and she said, oh, she doesn't like, like, big, you know, I really want to do something really special, but I don't want to overwhelm her.
Starting point is 00:22:06 I had a really good idea and I think it actually would work for this mother as well. Go for it. If you're London-based, I obviously don't know where you live. Maybe you're not even UK-based. You don't say, Zoe, if you are a London-based, I think the Euro star to Paris, it is so doable because you literally, you're in Kings Cross, it's central, you get on the... the train, you get off the train, you are already in Paris. Yeah, it is amazing. Or you, well, you can do it to Amsterdam or Belgium. Yes. But it's, there's no flying, there's no boats. You could do it in a day. You can go at 10, 11 o'clock in the morning, so there's no,
Starting point is 00:22:41 you know, crazy early things. You can, but it's still, it's still three hours on the train. But it's, you just do one night. But it's restful travel is what I mean. It's not an airport and the dragging and the, it's very easy. It's easy, right? And it's very civilized. You can have a lovely special lunch or dinner in Paris. Come back home on the Eurostar. I think that's special. Yeah, I think that's a great idea. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:23:06 I also think you're right. I think she needs to check herself as to what part she's anxious about her mother turning 80 and what part is about her mother because it's her mom's 80th. If her mom wants to do something small, let her do something small. Like just let her be. It's her birthday. And also, if you're struggling to let her be, then maybe you need to have a look at that.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Yeah, I agree. I agree. My sister was very anxious about my dad's 80th. Well, we were both quite stressed about it because we really wanted it to be lovely. It is quite a momentous occasion. And you do want it to be lovely. So definitely mark it in some way,
Starting point is 00:23:53 but I would say you definitely have to respect your mum's wishes. over it. It is her birthday. Yeah, I think that's good advice. Because the thought of someone pushing me into doing something I didn't want to do at the age of 50 would not go down well. So I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I was 80. Yeah, I think celebrate but be really mindful of that it's her birthday. Yeah, that it's her birthday, not your birthday. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good luck. Good luck, Zoe. Let us know what you decide to do. Got any meltdowns this week? My meltdown is that everything is one, big meltdown.
Starting point is 00:24:30 Oh, we're still there. What do we're still there? We're still in that place. No, no, we're only. That's how it is now. That's how it is. I mean, okay. I mean, no, it's not okay,
Starting point is 00:24:43 but also, it doesn't seem to be a lot I can do about it. No. Can't change it. Someone's at the door. That's my dog. No, I know, but someone's at the door. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I can't change it. I'm not overly, depressed with this menopausal version of myself, what am I supposed to do with her? Like, I had this, I know I said this two weeks ago, but I'm still saying it. Like, I don't know what to do. No one's telling me or helping me with what to do. You're just taking the piss. And actually, that's not helpful.
Starting point is 00:25:14 It's not supported. I'm not even speaking. You're not even like, you're not even looking at my posts. You know, what am I supposed to do with this menopausal version? Hey, with all the meltdowns and all the annoyances and all the, everything, just bugging the shit out of me when it never used to bug me before. Why? Why? Crone era. It's where we are. Well, it's where you are. I feel fine, actually. I don't feel cross. I'm not in a brawl yet. I felt, but I will be because it's unavoidable
Starting point is 00:25:45 for all of us. I've been permanently cross. Do you? I do. Yeah. That sucks. I know. And it's really tiring. Yeah. Being angry is very interesting. And then also at the same time, I'm like, enormously grateful. So it's a lot. So it's a lot of, it's a lot of so. It's, like, that's, yeah. Yeah, like enormously grateful. Okay, that's weird. I don't know. I'm cross, because everything's annoying, but also very grateful.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Okay. Cross and grateful. They don't sit side by side, but apparently they do. They do. Hello. Here we are in angry gratitude. Wow. I'm not really angry.
Starting point is 00:26:26 I just get, it's the annoyances. It's just the things are so annoying. They're just annoying. You know, it's like grating. It really is annoying, slightly annoying. What I'm doing is just pretending I can't hear you when you do that. I just gloss over. I just gloss over.
Starting point is 00:26:44 You get so rageful about the tiniest thing then. You're like, I've done it now. And then it's over. I've fixed it now. And then it's done. I'm like, okay, great. So I'm just like... What did I get, sorry, what did I get rageful over the tiniest thing?
Starting point is 00:26:56 Give me an example. Like when you couldn't. get the login, the TikTok, the whatever, and then you get like a whole little tantrum and then it's like, well, I've done it. It's fixed now. Like, well, what was the tantrum about? And you took 35 seconds, didn't it? But you just let it pass through. Basically, it's like the weather. I just let it blow through. Blow through. Because you don't have to deal with the tech, right? So the it doesn't matter the subject. What I mean is it just moves through rage. Use me. Even if we removed the tech, you would still be having the little meltdowns about
Starting point is 00:27:27 the various things that like spike the rage and then pass on through it's like having it trapped wind basically it's like that it's like it's gonna pass just let it pass through that that platform logging in authentication code app thing hasn't passed FYI I've got to do it after we finished recording because I wasn't allowed to do it before because you have got to go I actually have got to go so I'm going to tell you my meltdown and then fuck off basically my meltdown is thus. You're going to dump and leave. Yeah, I'm going to dump it and leave.
Starting point is 00:28:03 I went to stir my coffee the other morning. I opened my drawer. There were five teaspoons in there. No, no, no. What do you mean? That's not the point. Only... No, I'm not like gobsmacked over the five.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Only three of the teaspoons are my teaspoons. The other teaspoons, and there were others various ones in the dishwasher, I did not buy them. They do not belong in my house. I don't understand how or why teaspoons have left my house and teaspoons have entered my house. I don't live in some student accommodation. I am not a hotel. I am not an Airbnb. I am my own private home. I bought the cutlery. I used the cutlery. I washed the cutlery. The cutlery goes back in the drawer. Then, then I went to get some forks. In our house we have big forks and we have small forks. We have 12 big forks, 12 big knives, 12 small knives.
Starting point is 00:29:04 We only have five small forks. Where are the forks? Where have they gone, Nicole? But that's like, that's the age old question of where does the socks go? No, the socks I accept. Even in my anal-ness of laundry and the whole, just everything has its place in my home, I have an odd sock basket. I accept it.
Starting point is 00:29:22 So do I. I live with it. Isn't it the best moment? I had this yesterday. When a random one matches up? I had that yesterday. Two pairs matched up. Dreamy.
Starting point is 00:29:32 But once the year I dump. Yeah. So do I. So do I. So do I. But the forks. Anyway, because, you know, Max works in a school. So I said, go to the staff room.
Starting point is 00:29:44 And if you've been taking the fork, just checking the staff room for the forks. Because where are the for? He's like, mom, I check. There are no forks. I am at a complete loss as to the small fork and teaspoon thief and replaceer. in my home. Cannot resolve this. I understand.
Starting point is 00:30:03 It's really bugging me. Anyway, I thought, come on, I'm an adult woman, I can fix this problem, got a magnifier, looked at the make of the cutlery. And you ordered some more.
Starting point is 00:30:15 No, I can't order anymore because it's been discontinued. That's it. That's my meltdown. Cannot replace. Cannot replace. I actually think. It's really,
Starting point is 00:30:30 I actually think, you know, occasionally, Ollie will say things like, oh, you're really scraping the barrel now when he used to talk about our self-care practice and we get, oh, we're doing dry brushing for the week and you'd be like, oh, he's just scraping the barrel. I actually think, when we first met, I thought, I honestly thought, you know, when you like meet someone, you sort of fall a bit in love, I honestly thought you were the most interesting, intelligent, funny person I'd ever met. Now you prefer my best friend to me. I mean, the forks haven't helped And the T-Stra, like this melt...
Starting point is 00:31:05 But you're not helping me, where are they? Not helping me. Aren't you wondering? You just told me, I was in Crone Energy and you just told me, you just told me, oh, it's okay, you throw a tantrum and I just ignore it and it just passes. That's where we're at. We're not in honeymoon period anymore.
Starting point is 00:31:23 No, we're not. We're just ignoring each other. That is full marriage. We are in full marriage mode because I can't believe I've just sat here five minutes listening to your bollocks about teaspoons and forks. That's not going to win any awards. That's not going to change the podcasting space for us, is it? That's not going to move the needle.
Starting point is 00:31:41 That's not going to bring more listeners to our show. How is that remotely interesting? And now not only have you brought it to me in private. You've brought it in public. You've made it public and now I've got to edit this. I've got to listen to it again. But while you're editing it. editing it, you are going to sit there and think,
Starting point is 00:31:59 I wonder where those balks and spoons did go though. You are going to wonder that. Because anyone listening is going to wonder that. I don't think there was. Well, I don't think if I heard it, I would be wondering. I don't know one person listening is wondering. I really don't. I was going to waste any energy on where your teaspoons and your small forks
Starting point is 00:32:22 have disappeared to. Because it's obvious, isn't it? Max is taking lunch into work He's taken a fork The fork's got lost And that's the end of it Are you saying he's lying? No, I'm not saying
Starting point is 00:32:34 About the staff room fork incident Absolutely not saying he's lying Is forgotten? I'm saying Are we putting this at Max's door So unfair, poor Max? What else could it be? Unless Olly, no, no
Starting point is 00:32:45 You're not, no, you drag me into this Do you see? Do you see? Ollie does not remove cutlery for the house When he leaves in the morning Someone does He takes his suit. And it should stay in your house.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Quazas, if you know where my cutlery is, can you please let me know? We've reached a new low. Yep. We reached a new low. Topperwears and forks. That's what we're talking about now on the show. And let me just add your joy when you find a matching pair of socks.
Starting point is 00:33:25 You brought that. Yeah, but everyone can relate to that. but that's relatable isn't it well they haven't got my special problems yeah no oh dear quazers
Starting point is 00:33:41 when you come back next week you used to be like you know when Carrie with big when they're married and they're a bit like she's like and they go to this bar and he's like Mr Sparkley you're like Mr Sparkle yeah
Starting point is 00:33:52 you're like Mr Sparkle guy with the attractive woman and then you come home and you're not Mr Sparkle guy he's like lying on the couch like farting or whatever he was doing. I don't do that. Where's Mr. Sparkle guy?
Starting point is 00:34:02 Like, come on. Where's the intelligent feminist woman that I met all those years ago that lured me into starting a podcast with her? Where's she gone? I don't know. I was the same person. It's just I didn't regale you with my bullshit then because I didn't know you well enough.
Starting point is 00:34:14 And what you see now, I find it annoying. I used to find it annoying. Hence the meltdown. Okay, we're going to go. You've got to go. I've got a boiling hot in here. It's so hot in here. It's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:34:25 It's like a sauna. It's like free sauna. I can hear my teenager. I can hear your teenager, I can my dog, can hear your husband on the phone. I can hear it all. Yeah. It's all going on today. Yeah.
