For example, I have to replace my hoses every single year because they're weak. They get tangled and there's kinks. then I found the pocket hose ballistic. This is the upgrade I've been looking for for a long time, man.

It also comes with this pocket pivot, which gives you total freedom of movement. And the spigot has like a 360 degree rotation, which is pretty cool. Ellie Scotany will be part of a stunning night of fights at Madison Square Guard. in New York on July the 11th.
Starting point is 00:02:03 The Garden will host a real fighting party. Eight fights, all women, two for undisputed titles. 21,000 people, it will be a sellout. And it's also live on Netflix. This is a big night, a special night. It'll be promoted by Jake Paul's most valuable promotions. The main event is the trilogy fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor.
Starting point is 00:02:27 Scotlandy will be defending her IBF and WBO Super Bowl. WBO Super Bantamweight titles and fighting Mexico, Ziamalef Mikado for her WBC version. Scotany is at the very core of MVP's revolution. The promotional company has 19 of the world's best female fighters. Scotany is also the fighting Queen of Catford in South London and an expert on public transport.
Starting point is 00:02:53 You need to get there, she'll tell you the shortcut. I'm Steve Bunce and this is Five Live Boxing on the streets. We're out in East London today in Laton in a cafe And I often think that when you have a lunchtime meeting with a fighter Perhaps where you're going to have the meeting reflects their nickname So for instance if I was having something with Alicia Baumgarden I'd be with the bomb, it would be somewhere fiery If I was with Amanda Serrano, the real deal
Starting point is 00:03:21 It'd be somewhere fancy If I was with, I don't know, the Silent Assassin Savannah Marshall It might be 3am Kibab pit stop, you just don't know Well today I'm with a woman that gave me her nickname By chance only a half an hour ago Miss TFL, otherwise known as the Queen of Catford, often known as the world champion Ellie Scotty. And we're in a cafe just down the road from the McGregan's Gym
Starting point is 00:03:43 where they do actually serve kimchi on the menus, which is quite impressive. Ellie, first of all, how are you? Very good. And to be honest, if I was going to a place that representing me, it'd be more a chicken shot, wouldn't it? Let's be honest. Yeah, chicken shack.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I don't know how I'll milk this one. Most valuable money, I reckon. Because we could always be the most valuable money. Now you've got loads of it. So you've done this deal with MVP. You're going to be part of this ridiculous bill on July the 11th, Madison Square Garden, in the big house, 21,000 people.
Starting point is 00:04:11 Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, three at the top of the bill. Let's see a bump garden in another undisputed fight. And then you and a couple of other people fighting for three versions of the world title. It's a dream card for boxing fans. It's an incredible card. And I saw the pictures of you smiling in New York over three or four days. How did it come about?
Starting point is 00:04:31 You probably can't tell me the exact. details but how did it happen is jake leave your voice but she doesn't work at once it was one of them where it's something that you know i'm a big believer of faith and i know it's only god that's opened these doors and i sat there boazzi was actually boxing calum smith there was on the ring walk and my brother threw it out there was like hell you know drop uh nekisa a message and i was like oh my come on like what's the odds of this because i've actually i'm still sitting on jake pool's dms now from the the second fight they made with them to still not got more replied jake what's there. So I just thought, do you know what?
Starting point is 00:05:05 A shy kid gets no sweets and I was a fat kid so that paints the picture. So I just sent a message and a DM and when I had the speed that it came together was crazy. And you were out of contract. I was out of contract. Yeah, because we talked about that earlier this
Starting point is 00:05:20 year. So it wasn't a conflict of interest. You weren't going behind anyone's so how long from that message to direct phone calls and then suddenly you're on a plane to New York? Within, you know, Within three hours, I think Jake had a phone call and the time different, so I don't know what the time was out there, but, you know, like, the blessing of it's been crazy.
Starting point is 00:05:42 It's been truly crazy. And then talk me through this quite ridiculous week. We'll go through all the MVP, the roster, and we'll go through what their plans are and some of the conversations, you and Jake and Nikisa. And is Amanda part of it? Yeah. So is she very much, Amanda Suana very much part of it, or is it Nikisa and Jake?
Starting point is 00:05:58 Nekisa's normally that he's got most of the... He's a point man. Yeah, yeah. He's a great guy as well. I like him a lot. He's got pure energy. I remember the first, you know, initial conversation. And he made me feel that, you know, this isn't just,
Starting point is 00:06:10 we're bringing you on, you're one of our fighters. He generally is involved in your story. And I've got that fill off him straight away. So it weren't just, you know, I didn't feel like I was meeting a stranger. That's what they do, though. The whole thing is about a narrative creating a story. So they'll be looking at all of the fighters they've signed. From Holly Holm, the veteran who's going to be fighting on a Jake Poo.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Julio says a Chavez undercard. So I don't know, they're Dina Thurston. All of the fighters they've signed, everything they do is about the backstory, creating a story going forward. So it's really, obviously, but it's almost like a wrestling format. So they sit down with all the names, all the dates, all the plans. They've got their Netflix gig together. And they've got to create something for Ellie Scotony. So you fight Yama Lef Makada, something like that.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Yeah, Mar-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a. And she's got a version of the World's. Yeah. You've got two versions. So you've got the ring as well, haven't you? So there's four versions. So, but that would be, if you could imagine a blank sheet of paper, that would be the first thing here.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Then after that, we're not lose because they're professionals. You know, that's the way they work. You go this way. Then after that, after that next fight, you go this way. They've got it all planned out. That's what they do. They're super planners. Yeah, it's not just, you know, this is one fight.
Starting point is 00:07:24 It's an investment, as you know, as a fighter and as a person. So I've got that initial feel as soon as it signed. Pens of paper. Elliot, I need to take you back to New York. You're communicating with Nikisi. You're communicating with Jake Paul. You're part of MVP. You're a free agent from Matron.
Starting point is 00:07:42 You go to the airport to get on a plane. You've got a nice seat. We'll leave it at that. You get out there. What was it like? Because all I kept seeing was just these enormous gatherings of all the boxes they'd signed. It was surreal for the minute, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:54 got on the plane. Brother dropped me off. He charged me. I bet he was upset. He wasn't going. Hey, listen, it was like a black taxi. He was driving. He was like, I want premium.
Starting point is 00:08:04 Exactly that. So I made it there in one piece. And yeah, just like the whole journey over there from getting off. And yeah, I was a bit tired when I landed, but just the buzz of everything just lifted me. And it was one of them where you're just looking around thinking, what is happening? And who was actually there at the conference, especially that workout session in a gym somewhere, which I saw. Who was actually there? So from the conference, it was every fighter.
Starting point is 00:08:27 So from everyone that's on the card. So we went to the Knicks game. and, you know, I sat next to Katie, and it was just like, everything was just mad. Like, to look around thinking, I'm boxing on this. Like, I wouldn't even... It's a big old venue, right? It was massive, so that was surreal.
Starting point is 00:08:41 And then going to the workout, like you say, it was just everyone that's under the MVP banner. And I remember looking around, and I thought, you know what, I'm going to shake this up, Catford Star, so I grabbed the pads and jumped to the ring, and I think I patted everyone. So I think I'm going to invoice for a PT session. You took the pad session?
Starting point is 00:08:55 Yeah, I took the pad session? Yeah, I took the pad. So did you say Amanda Serrano on the pads? Yeah, yeah, took Suvano. Katie weren't there, so it was just the MVP stable. I remember Shereida Green, the... You had a big sort of super middle. So she went, I want some pads, I thought, whoa.
Starting point is 00:09:08 She's letting them go as well. She bangs a little bit, didn't she? You know what, as well? She throws everything correct. Like, she's got a nice flow to her. When you're on the other end, I thought... Because she's fighting Savannah Marshall, if I'm on the mistake. Yeah, that's correct. I believe so.
Starting point is 00:09:19 She was, you know what? She had a nice flow to her. Because, you know, like, I always look at fighters and, not sounding, you know, in a way, but, you know, certain people have a flow, and you say, like, you shape up like a man. Like that's a blessing, that's a big compliment. And she had that flow to her.
Starting point is 00:09:33 So she throws everything correct and, yeah. So you're taking them all on the pads. Yeah. But you're sitting down then and you're having chats with Nikisa Biderian, by the way. It always sounds like a Star Wars name. You're having chats with Nikita and you having chats with Jake. And are they throwing it forward to later this year and next year in the way they're planning? Yeah, he's very, he doesn't.
Starting point is 00:09:53 What I liked, which was rare from a promoter is he's very transparent. So he won't butter anything up. And I was looking around thinking, wow, like you're going downstairs, getting your hair and makeup. Not that's a Scotany thing to do, but it was just like, and I looked around. I was like, wow. You need a bit of makeup under your left eye today for that moment. I'm saying, something.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I know. That's far as it. Lucky shot. It's because I left my plate in the sink. My mum tuned me. But he's very transparent. He's saying, I was looking around. I was like, wow.
Starting point is 00:10:20 And he's like, oh, I was like, what? He's like, this is a Netflix show. Okay. Not all of them are like this. But he's very much like that. And it's just the vision they have for you. Like, everything's a line. and you know like God willing everything goes to plan it I felt like I'm used to sign the contract where you look at a timeline you're like I'm stuck I looked at this and thought wow I'm safe so yeah it's just bringing that security and you know I've just got to deliver now and I'll understand my role but it's not they're not signing you and giving you an easy workout against a veteran you know you're fighting a woman that about the same age as you but she's been pro since she was 15 or 16 years of age of classic classic Mexican plus she's delivering she's delivering a belt to the table the WBC
Starting point is 00:10:59 version, if I'm not I said, to go with your IBFWBO and, of course, your ring magazine belt, which we were discussing over sandwiches. So did they also explain that, that there won't be any gimmies here? These will be, I think all of what they do is competitive. By the answer, I think me, if you look at my career, the way I've gone about things, my character, I'm someone that got chucked into it, and I never wanted anything different, you know. Everyone was saying that your first fight over there, I said, no, that's the fight I want. I want straight in.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I'm not interested to do anything else. other than that. And, you know, it was just the fight I've been chasing for a long while now. And for matters, it couldn't get delivered. It couldn't, but the first gas, the biggest show I could ask for, the biggest fight I can get, and they ticked every box, now it's on me. I mean, if New York a few weeks ago was crazy, what would it be like when you go out on the whatever date?
Starting point is 00:11:49 I don't know. I'm not sure what date you're going out. Let's say you're going out on the 5th or 6th of July, fights on the 11th on the Friday night. What do you imagine that we could be like, yeah? I'll be there the whole time. holding your hand looking after me. I wouldn't leave the stranded. He's the bodyguard.
Starting point is 00:12:03 You weren't in the bodyguard. You're surrounded by all those crazy people out there, don't whatever that. Just don't get covered in paint, Sandy Ryan style. What do you think they'll be like? Do you know what? It's like I don't want to get carried away because the furthest side box is Manchester.
Starting point is 00:12:18 That's a different country for someone from Catford. So I've probably got a bit of jet lag going there. Canber world's a different country. It's someone from Catford. So if you're not from London, I make no apologies for that bit of geography there. carry on so it's crazy
Starting point is 00:12:32 you know if you give me a pen and paper any fighter what's your dream venue it's your dream card as a female it is that and I've got to go there on the demand that you know this is just a ring it's in just a place like I can't bring the fact of we in a different country and it was funny because you know my mum she
Starting point is 00:12:47 hates flying like if we're flying three hours she's bottling and she's going oh I'm worried I said what for my fight shirt now the flight so it's just like I'm looking now and I'm like wow it's not just me that's you know experiencing this my whole family
Starting point is 00:13:01 and that's the driving force really so yeah so much bigger than myself and it does feel like I mean I've got to choose the words carefully but it does feel like big time and that's not a slur
Starting point is 00:13:10 or matrim because obviously you're on big shows when you're with them and you're on all sorts of shows with them but it does seem different Netflix sold out one of three or four major fights 20,000 people Serrano and Katie Taylor women's boxing's greatest trilogy
Starting point is 00:13:25 at the top of the bill whether you like it or not you've got to bow your head if you're a rival promote and say that's the place to be. I'll be totally honest. I looked at the first card and I pleaded to get on that, the Kate and Serrano. And then I looked at the second. I sent a DM to Jake and I was just like, and it's like it's come round full circle and the third one, the biggest one you can get live on Netflix, Madison Square Garden, fighting for, you know, free version of the belt and
Starting point is 00:13:48 the ring magazine. Like, what more could I ask for? And I understand that everything takes the time and I'm so used to being on an undercard, getting lost on an undercard. But you know, Ellie, you've got a spotlight here. And I've got a day. deliver and I understand the pressure that comes with it, so I'm looking forward to it. It seems to me, and I haven't spoken to Nikisa about this actual bill, and I haven't spoken to Jake about this bill, but I've done a lot of work with him going back to Logan Pool Fighting KSI in Los Angeles all those years ago. So I've worked with them quite a lot, and I've always found them brilliant to deal with, but what I think they're really good at, and I think you're
Starting point is 00:14:19 going to find out, is as much as, you know, Serrano and Katie, obviously the top of the bill, it's great. But the spotlight gets thrown on everybody. You know, you're not traveling by a bus and they're in limos, I can assure you, it's limo, limo, limo. I've seen that. They're quite clever at that. Yeah, do you know what? We got to the airport and there's this big old car. I couldn't even tell what car it was because I'm so used to Uber's and I was like, oh hey Jake,
Starting point is 00:14:40 that's got my name on it. And he's that. Yeah, well, that's yours. So, you know, it was there and it was Fiji water and I was thinking, I'm used to tap. So it's a different world to me, but, you know, I'm still that kid from Katford and that'll never change. No, that's a network, we'll never change.
Starting point is 00:14:56 And that's all part of the attraction. Now when we're having a bit of food We were talking a little bit about Okay they signed a lot of fighters You know they sound an awful lot of women Plus they got Katie Taylor for the second time On the spin in a big fight So even though she's not an MVP fighter
Starting point is 00:15:10 She's making the bill work on these two MVP And being paid handsomely for it by the way It's not like she's a charity worker Katie because she's not But there are still some women out there That they don't have I mean we talked about Michaela Meyer And I said to you
Starting point is 00:15:24 I believe Michaela Mayer might be even more, maybe even more, she's certainly more popular than Cloresha Shields. She may not be as well known as Cloreshishers, but she's certainly more popular than Claretsor in my opinion, Michaela. She's just great figures when she fights for Bob Barham on ESPN.
Starting point is 00:15:40 And then there are a few other women, obviously there's Lauren Price. There's Caroline Dubois, you share a gym with, Sandy Ryan, who lost her Maya, Sky Nicholson, the recently lost her world title. Sky Nicholson, the woman that beat her, Tiara, Tierra Brown, who may or may not end up signing
Starting point is 00:15:57 for MVP, Delphine Pursune. So there are still some women out there. I'm going to throw my mate, Emma Dolan in the list. No, listen, I'm a massive fan of Emadolin. I went to see her win a British title, yeah. You know, you know the story of Emmadolant, don't it, with me? Yeah, she's got you on the tube, didn't she? She got me on the DLR just as we were going to, like,
Starting point is 00:16:15 2012 and pulled my shirt and said, oh, literally, even though she's not from lunch. You went, oh, Mr. Day, you go out of the boxing, and introduced herself, and I spoke to her mum, and then we stayed in touch, we stayed, I got on my BBC London show. I mean, if you've heard this before, I make no apologies, it's worth telling again. So this girl, when she was about 11 or 12, got talking to me with her mother on a train going to see Katie Taylor in the London Olympics, fast forward, whatever, 12 years, I suppose, 2024. She ends up winning the British title, the normal British title. And she couldn't be nicer. And you live with her, I didn't for, or you, she had a flat-lap area.
Starting point is 00:16:47 She actually lived with me and my mum while she was trained down London. She's my mum's favourite child, to be honest. Oh, shoot. You're down in the fourth place, aren't you? She's got Chihuahua or she likes more than you? Yeah, no, I am. I'm down in eighth place. She's only got seven of us.
Starting point is 00:17:04 I used to use that one, don't I? But I feel like Emma, Emma's very underrated. And, you know, to see someone like that come through. And, yeah, I'll be praying that she's the next one they call up. But like you say, that list of fighters, fantastic. And I know they'll be getting their teeth into them, whether they're coming in and spoiling the party
Starting point is 00:17:21 or whether they're coming in on the banner. The best B2B marketing gets well. wasted on the wrong people. Starting point is 00:19:03 supply. It's 2009 and we're in the German mountains. A man straps himself into a car on the world's most dangerous racetrack. He whispers to himself, it's time to put my balls on the dashboard. As he starts the engine. In 15 minutes, he's in an ambulance unconscious. In 15 years, he's a billionaire. This is Total Wolf, Formula One's most powerful team boss and the breakout star of drive to survive. This week on Good Bad Billionaire, how Toto Wolf made his billions. Listen wherever you get your BBC podcasts.
Starting point is 00:19:36 Now we worked at the Royal Albert Hall show when Natasha Jonas lost to Lauren Price. I thought it was a great spectacle. I thought it was a quality fight. And Caris Artis who had a big win on the undercard against Raven Chapman, a really good win. I thought that really showed what Caris is capable of.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Women's boxing, I think, when you and I talked about this, on and off the record. I think it needed that fight a couple of months ago. Because last year, even though there was the big Netflix show with Katie and Serrano in Arlington, and there was a bit Natasha Jones at the start of the year with Michaela Mayo, and there was Michaela Mayer and there was Michaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan. It was one of the worst years for women's boxing for about a decade.
Starting point is 00:20:13 Is that a fair comment? I feel like we had the same conversation on repeat for a good year and a half. When we see each other. You started since about last January doing this. So it's like crazy, the movement and the stance they've took with women's boxing. And, you know, to be part of that at the start of it's been a bit. blessing and you just see like they've seen the window of opportunity and if they can really the spotlight will be on july the 11th we can deliver and people will be invested so hopefully
Starting point is 00:20:38 that's to start something massive and and and obviously i mean obviously i'm not your accountant so i don't i don't know and i don't want to know but it's money but but but there's also attached to there's money because they're not they're not winning you over with a promise of a nice limo from the airport they're winning you over here with a nice solid cash you know nice solid plan laid out I'm assuming. I hope so, if not, what have you signed for?
Starting point is 00:20:58 I've still got an oyster card, so we're not quite there yet. Not wrong with an oyster card. The freedom part is better. We know this one. I haven't got one. I haven't shared a freedom part. He's lying.
Starting point is 00:21:06 He lost it last week. It's in the post. I can't remember where I put it. How is I'm running? I've got five of them somewhere. No, I haven't got one, so I don't qualify of other ones.
Starting point is 00:21:20 For a variety, qualify an age, but not on whereabouts. No, so, The way it seems to me their plan is, and as you say, they're transparent. Yeah. Is they say, you win this. She's not in the gym, and let me just shout out of the place.
Starting point is 00:21:34 She's in the calf. The old sirens. So, I mean, the way it seems to me they plan out is that they'll show you a plan or an idea. I mean, you know, if it's not the way it, then correct me. But they plot in the head. They're looking at, you know, she fights her. Then she fights her. I mean, it's just natural progression.
Starting point is 00:21:57 And part of that progression is working your way with the extra zeros on the amount. Yeah, I think part of the parcel, and they want people that want to be involved in big fights. And that was, as soon as we had a chat with Nekisa, he said, like, wow, like this is the way we want to go. And I said, we're singing off the same hymn sheet. So, yeah, like you say, they're giving you the platform, making the fights with the right money.
Starting point is 00:22:20 And, yeah, just big fights. And that's the way I want to move. And I know this is, again, it's one of the 80-old questions I asked you, but it's about moving up. It's four and five pounds up to featherweight. Is that all possible? I know. You saw my lunch.
Starting point is 00:22:34 You've got this thing where you're sticking at Superbentum. Do you know what it is? It's like we're one step close as I'm disputed. And if this can, God willing, all my focus on the July of the event, it's the biggest fight in my career and the hardest fight in my career. I'm well aware of that. And only the 11th fight of your professional career, by the way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:50 On the 11th of July, I'm mad. So it's one more fight to become undisputed after that So if I can stick around that get made off the back of this Then 100% but you know the natural progression It's been a conversation that you know me and Shane Jake Have continuously head for a while now where it does get tight as you get older And you know naturally I've been wanting to make that move And we keep teasing about the stoppage coming when it does
Starting point is 00:23:14 And also it gets easier Smarter you get you know more about your body. So even though you're older and in theory is harder, you know more about your body. When you're 22, you think your body can do anything
Starting point is 00:23:29 because you're stupid. And I mean that in the nicest possible way. I still am at 27. No, you might be actually, yeah. But sometimes, you know, fighters really struggle with male and female to make weight. Then suddenly, five years later,
Starting point is 00:23:41 they're making the same weight because they've listened to a nutritionist, not got a nutritionist, they've listened to a nutritionist. You know what I mean, but they haven't cheated. And then suddenly making weight, it's never easy because it's hard.
Starting point is 00:23:51 If it's not hard, you're at the wrong way. If it's not hard, then you're doing something wrong. Yeah, certainly. So with you, are you comfortable at that at the moment? You're comfortable enough? For, you know, what we're chasing and, you know, two more fights, that would be the stance because you've got to finish what you started. And, you know, my nan, as everyone knows, it was finish a collection,
Starting point is 00:24:14 and we're stuck close now. You know, one thing that you haven't dealt with as a fighter because you've never fought in New York in the summer or somewhere is the heat and the amount of liquid you're going to need just to balance. That's something to be looking to look at. I'm going to be getting yours as my nutritionist. No, no, no, no. Listen, I'm the Carthrampton when Carl Frampton fought in San Antonio.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Crazy. And he got dropped three times in the first round. And he got everything wrong, you know, because he knew it. It was tough at the weight. He knew how to make the weight, but he was tougher here. And then suddenly he found himself where, you know, it's not in an environment that he understands.
Starting point is 00:24:45 He's in incredible heat. And then you need more, well, you need more liquid. Yeah. So that's something you've got to. think about if you haven't you know you got the right team on nutritionist car will be coming out with us early so yeah just ticking the boxes twice over and that would be what we'll be doing a type would be a female boxer aren't it no i'm being serious i mean it's a really you guys and it's not you've got it easy because you've still got a fight and beat really good fighters but
Starting point is 00:25:08 compared to 35 years ago when christie martin was fighting strippers i mean literally fighting strippers on now you do right get arrested for that sort of stuff he's got a black arm Patty, I'll have a good one. I'm taking that out. Anyway, but Christy Martin was fighting people whose records you just couldn't track down on Mike Tyson undercards. And Laila R. Lee was avoiding Anne Wolfe
Starting point is 00:25:32 for a variety of reasons. Christy Martin was weighing in with £10 in her pocket so that she could... I mean, that's, you know, and some people making peanuts and others making a lot. This business, now, it's unrecognisable from that business, man. Do you know what?
Starting point is 00:25:46 Even the dry patch we heard, I think we got a strip back and look at what, you know, like you say, Christy, Myam, Wolf, Jay Cows. How bad it really was, you know. How bad it really was? And you hear that and you're like, wow, like, I go about now. And I feel so blessed to be able to say, this is my job. Like, how many people can say that?
Starting point is 00:26:00 But even more so when you reflect back to those people and they were pioneers. And I just hope that, you know, on July 11th, don't just mark the direction is going. But, you know, what they did, the trial blazers, I hope that they can look at the invent and say, do you know what? Weirs have started this. And long may it continue. Yeah, and it needs to continue. And it needs to keep having big.
Starting point is 00:26:18 stars it also needs to have in it needs to continue to throw out role models and there's a I've got a name I've got a name I meant to bring it I've got it here somewhere a young woman boxed the Lynn finally have another female boxer you know about it she's a mad Ellie Scotney fan Nick Costello was telling me the story and I've taken a picture somewhere of her name and I can't and I couldn't find it this morning coming over here I'm gonna have to ever look at that yeah so there's a I think and I think she's the sexy you were the first woman at the Lynn no no I think it went back to Ruth, Ruth Raper. Was Ruth before you?
Starting point is 00:26:52 Yeah, she's before me. She's a great friend of mine. And, you know, back then it was very rare. Like, we talk about fighting. Maybe it was you were the last one before this woman came around then. Yeah. Yeah. So I remember chasing.
Starting point is 00:27:03 And when I went as a nine-year-old, I was the first one that walked in the gym as a female. And it was, they'd never had a female national champion. And I remember if you're going, I'm going to be the first. Then I took a big break. And, you know, Ruth happened to... Came in that period. Yeah. And it happened to be the first national champion for the, for the,
Starting point is 00:27:18 in and I prayed that this little one, you know, she tops whatever I did. I really do. Apparently she's just the married Ellie Scotney fan. She must be mad. It's really bad of me not to have found her name because I've got, I've taken a picture of it somewhere and I just can't. I had a good look this morning on the tube coming out to see you. So I'm a little bit annoyed about that. So in the last two or three weeks, Big Fight, how early you're going out to New York? I'm going to go eight days before. So I'm going to finish my last spa, pretty much wrap up camp, last bits over there, just. just so I can, you know, it's a four hour difference, a five hour of difference, I believe.
Starting point is 00:27:52 And I went out there, trialled it, and I just think being in an environment like New York, how hot it's going to be. And I don't want to get tied away that, you know, you're in a different country. Oh, do you want to go sightse? I'm there to fight. I'm there to fight. But I'm assuming I haven't been at a Netflix show, but just like the new, the big DeZone shows, the big Saudi shows, you know, they're five-day gigs. Monday, day, something Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Starting point is 00:28:17 I'm never going to wash my air so much. They're draining days, you know. I've seen good fighters, mild and female, tell me they're okay on a Monday and start to collapse about the Thursday or the Friday. So you've got to be really mindful of that, you know what, don't you? I'm talking out loudly as your friend. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Because they're long days as well. Like I said, I went for the media back then to announce it all, the presser, and I remember getting on the plane. I think it was four days with that, and I felt, wow. I felt like I just had a fight. So as well aware, they're very like, we expect a lot for you. You've got to get a liver. Now, get your role, but, you know, I'll be making sure that, you know,
Starting point is 00:28:56 I'll be taking the time that I'm here to fight and that would be the blueprint of my mind. Yeah. And I tell what, it's just an event like this to have you on it. It's just, I mean, it's, you know, when I saw it, it made me chuckle. I just, oh, the Queen of Capford. So what are we going to do then about these nicknames? Because, I mean, I was going through some nicknames. I mentioned her there earlier on.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Tiarra Brown. She's known as the Dark Menace, as I say. Sweet Terminator, She has Adacia Green, the silent assassin, Savannah Marshall, the bomb gardener. You can't be missed TFL because you won't even get any free travel for it. Still pushing for that. Yeah, she goes everywhere, you know, six stops, six stops or whatever.
Starting point is 00:29:36 And you can't be, I don't dislike the Queen of Catford. Do you not? No, I don't dislike it. I mean, if you're from London, it's quite fun, it makes you laugh. Yeah. I don't know what impact that has. over there. So, I mean, maybe,
Starting point is 00:29:49 how about if you're just showing it to the Queen? Queenie Underwood was an amateur a few years ago. She was, Natasha Jones. She was the Olympics. She was good fire. I don't know. She nearly beat Katie in Bahamas in the semi-finals of the World Championships.
Starting point is 00:30:01 Is it a walking Wikipedia? No, I just bang out stuff every now and again. So the Queen is all right, man. Do you know what? I've had Ellie, the Cockney, Scotlandney. Ellie, non-stop, Scotlandies. Non-stop talking. The Cockney's good.
Starting point is 00:30:16 There's a few that are thrown out there Eleanor Cotney, Scotland is good We're going to have to search for one, aren't we? Because you know Jake Paul will do like the worst Dick Van Dyke accent, don't you? He'll do like the worst London accent. I'm waiting for my prime chain, so if it comes with a prime chain, you can call me whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:32 I've been called worse. I'm still dishing for one, and I think if it hasn't happened in 10 fights. I think a Netflix's going to film you up and down... Catford. Catford High Street. They need a bulletproof vest if they're doing a tech nurse. That would be like the Rocky.
Starting point is 00:30:45 You know what? Rocky goes running in Philadelphia in the first movie and they don't tell the people Philadelphia what it is. So people would just frown things at him like the geese orange at him. So it's all real. And the dogs are chasing them. They're dogs that want to bite him. We could do it. We could do it, and Ellie Scottney are genuine in Catford being filmed. I think it would be a good behind the scenes. We did a little promo shoot. Oh. And the camera to well come down. Ellie Scottney did a little promo shoot for Netflix. She's just dropped it out in the
Starting point is 00:31:12 kimchi restaurant. She's dropped it casually. So how was the promo shooting? Oh, no comment. Do you know what? It was exactly what Catford was. It was hilarious. You had someone nicking flowers off a bike
Starting point is 00:31:23 running them over to my mum. It was mental, exactly what Catford's about. So a lot of the outtakes didn't make the cut for some reason. But there was on Crime Watch the next week. Anyway, before I leave you, and I really appreciate your time here today.
Starting point is 00:31:35 I've got to ask you about that one time about three years ago when you said, that's it, I've always loved Catford. I've always loved Catford. But what was it? Something happened that made you, What was it that made you for the first time in your life question? Catford was the greatest place I love.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Tell me what it was. Do you know what? Woke up, someone I'm looking at the window and I thought, what's she looking at? There's not a great view outside the door window. And she's looked and I've gone, and what's wrong?
Starting point is 00:31:58 She goes, they've only nicked our washing off the line, isn't they? But she weren't the road about that? They left their 501 Levi. They left us? Yeah. Her waist must have been a bit too large for the whoever nicked them. So they took all the towels and stuff.
Starting point is 00:32:09 They took everything. So someone out there in Catford is still bowling around in her. But they left her jeans? Left their jeans. They have 501 Levi's. She was more offended. They got left.
Starting point is 00:32:20 So, even a pair of Bridget Jones made it. They might be worth 50p, who knows. Listen, Ellie, it's been a delight and a pleasure. I'll see you in New York sometime around the six or the seventh for that fight on the 11th. Ellie Scottney. She's got a couple of World Championship belt. She's got the ring belt. She's going to be fighting for a third one on one of the most monumental nights for
Starting point is 00:32:43 women's boxing and just a giant night for boxing period. We've been in a cafe, it's been a delight. I've been Steve Bunce, and this is Five Live Boxing. What does it take to go racing in the fastest cars in the world? Oscar Piastri. Your head's trying to get rid of one way, your body's trying to go another. Lance Stroll. It's very extreme in the sense on how close you're racing wheel to wheel.
Starting point is 00:33:05 We've been given unprecedented access to two of the most famous names in Formula One, McLaren and Aston Martin. I'm Landon Ars racing driver for McLaren from Juanty. They open the doors to their factories as the 2024 season reached its peak. They work to build a beautiful bit of machinery that I get to then go and have fun in. I'm Josh Hartnett. This is F1, back at base. Listen on BBC Sounds.
