Starting point is 00:02:04 Delicate flake drifted through the brisk December air. Turning the neighborhood into a quiet and gentle scene was Christmas Eve, and the little house at the end of the road glowed with a warm, golden light through its frosted windows. Inside that house, a child named Thomas lay snug in his bed, his cheeks rosy from the warmth of the crackling fireplace that danced just beyond his bedroom door, pulled his blanket higher up to his chin, feeling its comforting weight. He was supposed to be sleeping. Tomorrow morning would be Christmas Day, and he wanted to be awake bright and early, to look under the tree and see what surprises Santa had left. But even though his eyelids felt heavy,
Starting point is 00:03:10 he found himself lingering in that peaceful place between waking and drifting through the quiet hush of the night. It almost hear distant sleigh bells twinkling far away, a gentle northern wind. Could hear his grandfather humming an old Christmas carol. His grandmother had just finished baking her famous gingerbread cookies, their sweet aroma creeping in, beneath the door. Every year they baked these special cookies and decorated them with icing and little red candies. And every year they placed one under the tree as a small gift for Santa. Tradition was older than Thomas could remember. Thomas closed his eyes and let his mind wander. He pictured the small, snowy village where he lived.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Old stone houses with steep roofs, their chimneys puffing smoke into the cool night air, as if all the earth was holding its breath that Christmas morning would bring. As he drifted along these thoughts, a memory came to him. One of the bedtime stories his grandmother had told him the year before. It was about a magic forest at the very edge of the world. pine trees grew taller than the eye could see. There branches heavy with ornaments that sparkled like stars. In that forest, Santa's helpers gathered all the dreams and wishes of children
Starting point is 00:05:28 and carefully tied them to those glowing branches. On Christmas Eve, a soft wind would shake the tree, and all the dreams and wishes would tumble down to Santa's sleigh, ready to be delivered by morning's first light. Thomas sighed softly, smiling at the memory. He opened his eyes just a crack and saw the moonlight shining through the frost on his window, making the glass shimmer. He listened quietly for reindeer hooves on the roof, for the gentle whisper of the
Starting point is 00:06:11 a red-coated man slipping through the chimney. But all he heard was the faint crinkle of wrapping paper somewhere in the house. And the distant warmth of the bed and the gentle crackle of the fireplace lulled him deeper. With each slow, quiet breath, he felt himself floating into a dream. Half-real, half-imagined place, he rose from his bed and stepped out into the night, dressed in his cosiest pajamas and slippers. There was no cold wind against his cheeks, only a friendly, brisk air that smelled of peppermint and pine.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He looked around and saw that his front door had opened into a different world. One that looked much like his hometown, but somehow quieter and more magical. The mound was covered with a fresh layer of snow that sparkled under a sky sprinkled with countless stars. He could see his footprints, making a small path behind him as he wandered on. Lanterns that hung from the light posts seemed to glow just a bit brighter than usual. had a soothing, dreamlike quality, as if cast by candles enchanted to bring calm and comfort to any traveler. He called softly, his voice echoing among the silent houses. Although he expected only quiet, a gentle voice answered.
Starting point is 00:08:17 From behind a snow-laden shrub appeared a small rabbit with fur as white as the snow. It had bright, curious eyes and the softest-looking ears. Hello, Thomas, said the rabbit in a whispery, kind voice. Out for a midnight stroll, are you? Thomas nodded, not at all surprised that the rabbit could speak. In dreams, such things felt perfectly normal. I'm trying to get to sleep, he said. It's Christmas Eve, and I want to be well-rested.
Starting point is 00:08:54 for tomorrow. The rabbit wrinkled its nose and sat back on its hind legs. I know just what you need. Follow me. Without waiting, it hopped ahead, its large paws making gentle prints in the pristine snow. Thomas followed the rabbit past familiar cottages with wreaths on their doors, and fences adorned with big red bows, and strands of evergreens. The silence was comforting, like a big, warm blanket wrapped around the entire village. They soon left the cozy houses behind and entered a little forest. The trees were taller,
Starting point is 00:09:46 and the wind played a gentle lullaby among their branches. It filtered down, illuminating a narrow path between the trees. Thomas found that he didn't need a coat. The air was comfortably cool and he felt perfectly at ease. As they walked, the rabbit spoke softly about the wonders of this enchanted Christmas Eve forest. You know, Thomas, on nights like these, the trees listen very carefully.
Starting point is 00:10:24 They hold their own branches still so they don't miss a single sound. They love the hush of Christmas Eve, when all hearts are hopeful and at peace. Thomas smiled. He reached out and gently touched the bark of one towering pine. It was smooth and cold beneath his fingertips, and as he listened, he thought he could almost hear a gentle hum, as if the tree was humming along. to a silent carol, deep within its trunk. After a time, they came to a small clearing.
Starting point is 00:11:09 In the center stood a wooden bench, carved from a fallen log. Draped across it was a thick, quilted blanket, very much like the one of Thomas' bed. The rabbit hopped onto the bench and patted the spot beside him. Rest here for a moment, I have a feeling we're going to meet someone who can help you find true Christmas sleep. Thomas sat down, and as soon as he did, he noticed a gentle glow appear at the edge of the clearing. It was a soft light, pinkish and warm, like the glow inside a lantern on a snowy evening. Slowly, this glow moved closer.
Starting point is 00:11:58 until he could see that it came from a figure, dressed in a long, flowing robe, woven with threads of silver. It was a woman with kind, gentle eyes and a wreath of holly in her hair. She carried a small lantern, and when she spoke, her voice seemed to ring like distant sleigh bells. Good evening, Thomas, she greeted softly. The rabbit told me you're having a bit of trouble, drifting fully into sleep. On Christmas Eve, sleep can be elusive because the heart is filled with so much excitement and wonder. But there is a way, if you'd like me to show you. Thomas nodded eagerly, drawn in by her calm presence.
Starting point is 00:12:53 He noticed that she wore slid. made of moss and tiny golden bells that gave off the faintest chime when she moved. She sat down on the bench beside him. The rabbit hopped into her lap and she gently stroked its ears. The magic of Christmas, she began, is not only in the gifts that Santa brings or the songs that we sing. The true magic is in the stillness. the peaceful expectation, in the gentle hush that falls over the world as kind thoughts fill every
Starting point is 00:13:33 heart. To find that perfect sleep, we must journey deeper into that hush, letting all our worries and cares fade into the soft darkness of a snowy night. Thomas relaxed against the back of the bench. He could feel his heartbeat slowing and his shoulders releasing any tension. The woman smiled. Close your eyes now and imagine we are floating into the sky, above the treetops, carried by a gentle winter wind. Her words were so soothing and so vivid that Thomas could not help but imagine it. He felt himself become light as a snowflake, drifting upward through the crisp night air, higher and higher, until the forest clearing was far below, and all around him was the silent
Starting point is 00:14:38 expanse of a starry sky. He was among the stars, and as he looked around, he saw that the woman and the rabbit were still with him, smiling kindly. The stars twinkled merrily, as if each were a tiny bell, ringing out tidings of comfort and joy. He drifted along a gentle current of air, feeling perfectly safe and calm. Till at last they began to descend, found somewhere far away, in a place Thomas had never visited before. They landed softly on the crest of a snowy hill, and below them was a sight that filled Thomas's heart with quiet delight. It was a great forest of Christmas trees, tall and proud. Their branches heavy with ornaments and little gifts. Long strands of popcorn
Starting point is 00:15:49 and cranberries were draped artfully among the needles of deep green. At the base of each tree lay soft blankets of snow. Thomas could see treasures, hand-carved toys, ribbons, and shining stars, waiting to be placed atop the very tallest trees. This, the woman said softly, is the grove of Christmas dreams. It is here that the hopes and wishes of children come to rest on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa to gather them. All of your quiet longings for tomorrow morning's joy,
Starting point is 00:16:33 all of your happy memories of Christmas's past, are woven here into these branches. She led him down the slope, the rabbit still at her side. Thomas felt each step sinking gently into the fluffy snow, leaving light footprints behind as they entered the grove, The silence was profound, yet comforting. He could hear his own breath, slow and steady,
Starting point is 00:17:11 and the soft rustle of branches as a gentle breeze passed through. Trees, bright colors, strings of silver beads, and small cookies shaped like stars. But the scent of peppermint and warm sugar. He could feel the presence of many, children's dreams here, happy memories, kind thoughts, and hopeful wishes. Each ornament seemed to represent something treasured, a moment of laughter, a promise of kindness, a feeling of gratitude. Place the gentle hand on Thomas's shoulder. In this place, there is no rush. Time rests quietly.
Starting point is 00:18:18 This grove exists so that all dreams can flourish peacefully before they join the holiday magic. Christmas is a time of giving and receiving, of light in the darkness, and this grove helps keep that light shining bright. Thomas looked around at the countless trees. They're beautiful, he whispered. He felt a calmness. unlike anything he'd ever known. In that serenity, he found himself feeling more and more drowsy, but in a pleasant, comforting way,
Starting point is 00:19:01 as if the sweetest lullaby were being sung by the stars themselves. The rabbit hopped forward and nudged a small, golden pine-cone ornament with its nose, sending it swinging gently. Soon enough, the rabbit said softly, Santa will come gliding through the night sky. He'll visit this grove, gather the dreams and wishes, and carry them off in his sleigh to leave under Christmas trees all over the world. Then sighed contently and find their homes filled with warmth and joy.
Starting point is 00:19:50 Thomas knew that so many children were waiting for something. Santa, just like him. Will I remember this place when I wake up? He asked quietly. The woman looked down at him with kind eyes. You might not remember every detail, but the feeling will remain in your heart. A gentle place, a quiet joy, a sense that all is right on this special night will stay with you.
Starting point is 00:20:23 And when you wake, You will feel rested and full of Christmas spirit. Satisfied, Thomas let his eyelids grow heavier. He could feel his body relaxing further. The snow under his feet, the gentle glow of the lantern, the kind faces of his companions all seemed designed to ease him into the sweetest sleep. Bored he drifted away entirely. The woman took his hand, there is one more place I'd like to show you.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Her voice like a lullaby. They walked quietly through the grove, rose of tall firs and spruces, until they came upon a clearing. In this clearing stood a single magnificent Christmas tree that soared toward the heavens. Its trunk was enormous and sturdy. Its branches layered like tears of a grand wedding cake, and upon each branch hung an ornament that seemed to glow with inner light. In fact, it seemed that the tree itself radiated a gentle luminescence,
Starting point is 00:21:48 washing the clearing in warm, golden light. On the base of the tree, Thomas could see tiny footprints in the snow. The prince, he guessed, a wooden sleds loaded with ornaments. A ladder leaned against the trunk, and at the very top of the tree, an empty spot waited patiently for a single final star. This, though, is the tree of Christmas hope. Each year, it waits for Santa's arrival. He places a special star at its top. A star made of the purest stardust from the far edges of the night sky. The star is placed, the tree glows brighter than ever, and a gentle wave of peace spreads
Starting point is 00:22:50 out across the entire earth. It's a reminder that no matter how dark the night, hope always shines brightest at Christmas. tears of gentle happiness, welling in his eyes. Not sad tears, but tears that come when a heart feels truly safe, truly loved, and truly calm. He understood that Christmas wasn't just about presents and cookies. It was about a kindness and calmness that was shared on this single night when everyone hoped for something good, and in doing so made the world a little gentler. Looked at the woman and the rabbit. Thank you, he said softly. I feel so peaceful now. The woman knelt down, and even though she was not dressed in winter clothes, she showed no sign of
Starting point is 00:23:57 cold. You are most welcome, Thomas. It is time to return home. to that warm bed waiting for you. When you wake, you'll carry this feeling with you, and you'll find that sleep has refreshed you more than ever before. Thomas nodded. He was ready to rest fully now, to let his dreams blend into the warmth of his blankets and pillows, and pressed its little nose against his hand in a sweet farewell.
Starting point is 00:24:37 The woman raised her lantern, and its glow, grew brighter, surrounding them in a circle of soft light, till the grove, the great tree, and the starry sky faded away. Light receded. Thomas found himself standing at the foot of his own bed, back in his cozy bedroom. The scent of gingerbread cookies and a pine, still lingering in the air, was lit only by the gentle moonlight, filtering through the curtains. Everything was just as he had left it. The quilt on his bed, the toys arranged neatly on his shelf, the stocking hanging quietly by the mantle. He climbed into
Starting point is 00:25:40 bed, pulled the quilt up to his chin once more, and listened. He could hear the distant laughter from his grandparents, somewhere else in the house, soft and muted through the walls. Perhaps they were placing the last gift under the tree or double-checking Santa's snack. Outside, he heard nothing but the hush of the winter night. He closed his eyes and still felt the serenity of the grove, the tenderness of the great tree of Christmas hope. and the comforting presence of the kind woman, he let himself float on the memory of that enchanted journey, letting go of all excitement and expectation, knowing that tomorrow would come soon enough and bring its gifts. To do that Santa would visit, that morning would bring delight,
Starting point is 00:26:55 and that this feeling of Christmas warmth would remain in his heart all day long. In his dreams that night, he saw snowflakes drifting through beams of moonlight. Each flake a tiny crystal of comfort. He saw stars twinkling playfully overhead, and imagined them singing soft carols in a language older than time. He felt himself nestled in the gentle embrace of Christmas peace on a sleigh of quiet joy. Through the stillness of the night, Thomas slept soundly through the night. The world outside, silent and serene under its white blanket.
Starting point is 00:27:53 In just a few hours, the sun would edge over the horizon, lighting up the frosted wind windows and shining on the presence placed beneath the tree. With laughter and love, with ribbons and wrapping paper, with songs and stories told by the fireplace. In the hush of Christmas Eve, he simply rested of that hidden grove, still glowing softly behind his closed eyes. underneath his quilt, safe and warm. He drifted deeper into that peaceful place, carried alone by the timeless lullaby of Christmas. Christmas knew with certainty that when he woke, it would be into a world bright with joy of a new day.
