Starting point is 00:00:00 Are crumble cookies overrated? Um, Josh, come here for a second. We already did this podcast. Like, a few years ago. Buckle up, Nicole. We're doing it again. Because this is a hot dog as a sandwich. Ketchup is a smoothie.
Starting point is 00:00:14 Yeah, I put ice in my cereal. So what? That makes no sense. A hot dog is a sandwich. A hot dog is a sandwich. What? Welcome to our podcast, A Hot Dog is a Sandwich, the show we break down the world's biggest food debates. I'm your host Josh Sher.
Starting point is 00:00:28 And I'm your host, Nicole, and Idy. And today, we're our podcast, we're the podcast. We are going over the controversy of when that mean-spirited TikToker decided to, I know. I'm not on it anymore. This is a while ago, and this isn't what we're doing. This is a joke. But I found it actually tremendously sad. What?
Starting point is 00:00:43 I outed the Crumble cookie founder as gay. Did they do like a multi-part series? Yeah, it was like a thing, but it just a single video? It felt so mean. I don't think you should out people unless they're, unless it's, well, there was the Gawker lawsuit with Peter Thiel. and because they argue that he was a public figure and that he was funding candidates that supported anti-gay legislation
Starting point is 00:01:04 but then... Is Peter Thiel gay? Actually, don't know. Yeah, I believe Peter. Jamie, can you fact-check Peter Thiel gay? But yeah, but yeah, yeah. But then Peter Thiel used Hulk Hogan
Starting point is 00:01:15 as a conduit to sue Gawker into non-existence. Because I think Gawker successfully argued that Peter Thiel was a public figure and therefore fair game journalistically. He is. He's gay. And they were, please don't sue us.
Starting point is 00:01:27 It's a matter of public record. But then, yeah, they found that Hulk Hogan was involved in a sort of cuddling situation with his neighbor. You're saying so many words. And Gawker published the video of it. And Peter Thiel backed... Like a tape? Yeah. Oh.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Backed Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker. Oh. And because they couldn't successfully argue that the Hulkster was a public figure. The Hulkster is a public figure. Well, but not a figure of the public interest. So Peter Thiel is like funding candidates. Hall Cogan is just a famous guy. And so that's what the lawsuit was.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Of like there's no journalistic reason to out Hulk Hogan and invade his privacy in whatever manner they got the video. Got it. Yeah. We're eating cookies. Yeah, but also you shouldn't like you shouldn't do that. Like don't out people. Yeah. Stay out of people's business.
Starting point is 00:02:18 Yeah. If we invite you in. Weird investigative, like just let if people want to be gay, leave him alone. Yeah. Don't rummage through people. People's trash unless that's your hobby. Have you ever rummaged to someone's trash? We used to rummage through a dumpster of Tony Hawk's friend.
Starting point is 00:02:34 What are you talking about? There was a skateboard factory called ATM that was next to my old apartment in Oceanside. And I lived when I was like eight, nine years old. Okay. And we used to dumpster dive. I hate when you tell me the story I start crying. No, no, this is fun. This is fun. This is fun.
Starting point is 00:02:49 This is fun. It's fun. It's not. It's not out of necessity. We weren't dumpster diving for food. We were eating. You know, 10 for a dollar hamburgers
Starting point is 00:02:58 When McDonald's had the thing. Good of price. And $0.99 store Hot dogs and the blue Tampego juice, that would good. You could even call that juice. No, blue tampego drink. Also a lot of prepared
Starting point is 00:03:10 Orchata bottle. Anyways, dumpster diving in a skateboard factory's dumpster as a child is the best place to dumpster dive. Sure, did we get a couple splinters and should we have gotten tetan shots?
Starting point is 00:03:22 Yeah. But they would like throw away like perfectly. skateboard decks. Me and my brother and we had like a little just gaggle of friends. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And you guys were told me. Garrett, Ricky, Johnny. So this is a happy memory. Dylan, Aaron. God, I remember a lot of them. Happy memory.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Yeah, and we'd take the decks and we'd like, you know, figure out of like, you know, a grip of the house. Kids like, they take the decks and they put like cool wheels on them
Starting point is 00:03:42 and like stickers on the back. Yeah, yeah. And some of those decks we'd take and we'd run and we'd throw them down and try and try and jump on them down the sand dunes that led down to the beach. So that's a fucking little sand dunes.
Starting point is 00:03:53 So that's a fun time. So that's my dumpster diving. This has nothing to do with the subject matter. The subject matter today is we're going to be eating crumble cookies and deciding if they're still overrated. Because I don't remember. Did we decide that they were overrated, underrated? What do we decide? There was one cookie that really blew my mind.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Which one was it? It was a like salted cornbread cookie with like a whipped butter frosting. And you love that one. I really, I saw God, not LDS God, respectfully. What did you look like? Not Elohim in that cookie, but I really did. Like, it was really wonderful. Crumble, they've made innovations.
Starting point is 00:04:31 They started making smaller cookies. They started making minis, which is the size of a normal cookie. To us. But not to the crumble gods. To us. Acting like this is like an avatar race of people that are all 12 feet tall. You're obsessed with, why do you talk about, do you? I love Avatar.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Do you try to put Avatar in every conversation? I want to be Naviore. You could be Navi. Called E to Unicle. You could be Navi. Why don't you just be it for... Are you start wearing a tail? Relaxed.
Starting point is 00:05:01 Why did you just start... That's how they mix a halo. Does that mean... Does that mean whoopee? Yeah, yeah. Oh, really? It's not... Get your head out of the gutter.
Starting point is 00:05:10 It's very beautiful. And when Navi people do it. Oh, just when they do it. But when humans are disgusting. Yeah. Well, specifically the mountain people, the Omatakaya. You need to be an avatar for Halloween, it sounds like. You enjoy it.
Starting point is 00:05:22 you should dress up as avatars. She doesn't love avatars as much as I do. I dragged her to fire and ash
Starting point is 00:05:28 and I did love fire and ash. I thought it was great with the kind of like guerrilla rebels who have been displaced by
Starting point is 00:05:35 what they view as the Omatakaya inviting the colonizing scourge. So then they kind of like
Starting point is 00:05:42 flip so it's kind of like a sandinate it's the whole thing. Are you like are you trying to what's it
Starting point is 00:05:48 called whenever? Are you trying to stall eating these cookies? No, no, no,
Starting point is 00:05:51 you're talking so much. cookies. You're talking so much about silly things right now. God, damn it. What the fuck is going on? Ew, shit. Which one are you ewing yet? I don't know. All of them? The color palette is crazy. Okay, crumble cookies, they
Starting point is 00:06:06 come out with new flavors all the time, so we want to try some of the new flavors. Well, they're weekly flavors. Did you know that? Every week, it's a new, it's so innovative. So innovative. Wait, how often do they do new flavors? Every week. But not, like, entirely new flavors. Sometimes, yes. Yes. They're like very... They keep the chocolate chip.
Starting point is 00:06:21 No, they... So I didn't get the chocolate chip or the sugar cookie, which are... Do we have a cutty? No, we don't have a cutty. Let me get a cutty. Okay, go get a cutie. Talk, talk. Don't stop rolling.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Okay. Let Nicole talk about whatever she wants to talk about it. When we get back, talk about it. So I'm going to tell you guys about the cookie flavors that we are trying today. So we have our after school brownie, which is a rich chocolate brownie smothered in a thick fudge frosting and finished with Ramo Jimis. I liked that they said jimmies instead of sprinkles. They also didn't say hundreds of thousands either. Okay, next we have
Starting point is 00:06:53 A classic cookies and cream cookie topped with smooth vanilla cream cheese frosting and finished with Oreo I'm sorry finished with cookies and cream crumbs Just say Oreo
Starting point is 00:07:05 They can't because it's not a collab Strawberry milk cookie featuring piruline A pirouette cookies Which I am obsessed with If you know you know A chilled strawberry Sruso cookie
Starting point is 00:07:15 Brimming with milky strawberry Moose topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a crunchy piruline wafer straw, aka a pirouette cookie. A lot of people said that Avatar too was phoned in. I didn't see it that way.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Because when you look at the way of water. I'm talking. Confetti Dunker Cookie, which is probably based off of Dunkeroo's, a sugar cookie mixed with rainbow sprinkles topped with dollops of confetti buttercream and sprinkled with cookie cake balls. This one has a Pop-Tart on it.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Yes, this is a collab with Pop-Tarts. Brown sugar-cinamine cookie featuring Pop-Tarts, a warm brown sugar, cinnamon-stuffed cookie, top with a brown sugar, cream cheese glaze, and crumbled pop tarts on top. This makes sense. This collab makes sense to me.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Does Pop-Tart have a new Pop-Tart that just has special underwear on it? What? Oh, are you talking about Mormons? Does Pop-Tarts have a Crumbled Cookie collab? I don't know. I'm not sure. I missed it, which one? Why is there a kiwi with the skin on it?
Starting point is 00:08:09 Okay, so that's... Also, do you eat kiwi-skin? I don't. I sometimes do. I'll eat peach skin. No problem. I love peach skin. Of course, well, peach skin is delicious.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Yeah, yeah. But kiwi-skin... Kiwi skips sometimes I use. If I need extra fiber, don't point knives at me. That's bad luck. Some Kiwis are hairier than others, and that's not a statement on, I'm not commenting on whether Bush is back or not. You know, that was not my scene. But some Kiwis, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:33 They got like half centimeter long hairs on it. Call me Colin Powell, the way Bush is back. Was Colin Powell with? Yeah, Colin Powell is his... Okay, cool. Columpao. Connoisseurice rice? I love me some Connolly's rice. Strawberry.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Kiwi fruit pizza cookie, a vanilla sugar cookie partially rolled in strawberry sugar topped with a swirled strawberry kiwi moose and finished with a fresh kiwi slice and strawberry this is a strawberry kiwi moose on top? So like I, so all of these cookies are this week only. So yeah, Dave.
Starting point is 00:09:04 Whoa! I just called you David. I hate when you do that! You do stupid things that you remind me of David. Me and David are basically the same person. No, you're not. You couldn't be more different. We both went to law school. You did? I think you I could have gone to law school.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Yeah. If I graduated college. I could have been a doctor. If I graduated college. I got to go to the moon about as Katie Barry. No, she didn't go to the moon. She was in the stratosphere. She was in space.
Starting point is 00:09:30 We should put you in space. I don't like this Kiwi situation. So this is based off of something called a fruit pizza, which I guess is what kids have. So the whole theme of this week is back to school goodies. Are you getting that? Oh, wow. You look like you're about to throw up. Are you okay?
Starting point is 00:09:50 What the hell is going on? I'm worried about us. I'm worried about us. Crumble cookies are insane. They're half baked. So where the idea is. I'm just Rodo. So what?
Starting point is 00:10:08 Did you say so were James Cameron's Avatar sequels? Because they weren't. They're actually, if you really just trust the process. I think you're trolling right now. You're trolling majorly. I, no. Okay, so one, I do not think the. Avatar movies are good. Two, I will go see...
Starting point is 00:10:23 Why do you keep watching that? I will go see every single one in 3D trying to capture a specific moment for my adolescence. Okay, got it. This is dead real. The first Avatar I went and saw an IMAX 3D at the Irvine Spectrum with my first high school girlfriend. So it was like it was
Starting point is 00:10:41 probably the first movie I would have gone to with a girl and I like used my money that I got working the scoring table for basketball games. You know when someone scores a basketball needs to be a person to press the button. You got paid for that? I got 21 bucks a game.
Starting point is 00:10:54 No way. Oh, me and Deep would do it together, and we would mess up so badly. Literally, like, we had a whole gym booing us because, like, someone scored a winning basket, and he and I were, like, arguing. About what?
Starting point is 00:11:06 Just, you know, like, old college football players or something. We're just bored, and we both, you know, have ADD. And so someone, like, scored a winning basket, and we, like, didn't log it. And then someone, like, fouled someone. We didn't, like, put that on.
Starting point is 00:11:20 So they were, like, The coaches were like, the scores would be 46, 44, and we have the ball. And the other coach was like, no, no, no, it's this and we have the ball. And me and Deep are like, yeah, we're 16 and we do not care. So you made a more interesting game. Correct, Amundow. And so I would have taken that money and taken my girlfriend to P.F. Chang's and then went and saw Avatar on IMX3D. So classy.
Starting point is 00:11:39 The first Avatar, I mean, it was the highest grossing movie in the world history at the time for a reason. Really innovative, beautiful, you know, cinematographic. And then the next one. really couldn't capture that magic, but I'm still sort of seeing I'm out of obligation because of how much I genuinely love that world. Wow. I don't have that, like, nostalgia that you do.
Starting point is 00:12:01 I feel like I'm not that nostalgic about most things. But you're nostalgic about that. For a fucking Avatar. It's so odd. It's, like, against type, too. Like, I watch Lord of the Rings, and I, like, you know, enjoy it. Sure. Lord of the Rings is no Avatar.
Starting point is 00:12:14 I mean, I don't know if that's true. I don't know if I agree with that. Yeah. Okay, what do you want to try? how they solved. Can I talk one more thing about Avatar? You can talk three more things about Avatar. Okay, so this is my last thing about Avatar. No, no, you can say more.
Starting point is 00:12:28 First Avatar, right? He's a soldier that goes into the Avatar program to pretend to be Navi so he can go native. Yes, I remember that. Whatever. But then, so he's speaking English most of the time with his, you know, fellow military buddies. Okay. And then he's speaking, you know, or the Navi will speak English with him because he doesn't speak Navi. Okay. The second movie, though, he, spoilers, like he raises, he marries Nateri, played by Zardis-Sal-Aa. Oh, really? I do not watch the movie.
Starting point is 00:12:56 They have three children. Okay, cute. And they got, like, one adopted white kid named Spider. Oh, my God. No way. The kid's name is Spider? Yeah, yeah. He becomes a big pop point later. But anyways, so, but they didn't want to make the whole movie in Navi.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Sure. And so. Because no one would see it. In the first four minutes, Jake Sully just goes, man. I'm speaking Navi so good these days. It basically sounds like English to me. And then his kids are speaking Navi, and then it just morphs into English. So the idea is you as the viewer are hearing it in English.
Starting point is 00:13:28 That's pretty creative. I like that. But then they also occasionally speak Navi. They want to say something with gusto. They would say it in Navi. But they're saying it in theory, in Navi the whole time. You're just hearing it as English because Jake Sully hears it as English. But then sometimes they also speak Navi.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Interesting. Isn't it? Yeah. That's actually really interesting. Thank you. That's a good creative, that's like a good creative solution. Jermaine Clement is in the second. No, maybe just the third one.
Starting point is 00:13:59 I don't know who that is. Flight of the Concordes. Oh, nice. I like this one. This is a good cookie. This is my favorite Pop-Tart. Me too. This is my favorite Pop-Tart as well.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I've never been a fan of the strawberry Pop-Tarts. Excellent. This is where... They captured it. They did it. Crumble cookies to me has such an incredibly... high variance rate.
Starting point is 00:14:20 These aren't traditional cookies. These aren't something that you eat casually. No, this is an event. This is an event. This is an event. This is like getting peti force. This is like going to patisri atlis and getting crazy peti fors and whatever. This is the very Americanified version of that.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Sure. Okay. You know what I mean? And like even this whipped kiwi-ki strawberry moose on a little silly. It's silly. It's silly. And like it's not it's not to my taste. Yeah. It's a cool swing that they took.
Starting point is 00:14:51 That's what I'm saying. I don't think it's executed great, but it's a swing that I like. I mean, I'm telling you, the way that they are just innovating within this space, I can, like, as a food person, I respect. I'm not going to like every single creative choice, but I am respecting the creativity a million percent. This brown sugar cinnamon cookie, it is delicious. I will say, though, maybe a lateral move from just eating that pop-dart. I mean, it tastes pretty spot on, no? It tastes like that Pop-Dart.
Starting point is 00:15:19 It tastes, and that's quite a feat, no? That's quite impressive. I don't know. To be able to mimic a Pop-Tarts flavor and texture in a crumble cookie, I mean, I think that's pretty impressive. Also, it tastes like a Snickerdoodle. It tastes like Snickerdoodle dough. It's basically a big-ass frosted snick-doodle.
Starting point is 00:15:37 Yeah. I like it, though. They nailed it. They nailed it, and I'm proud of them for that. Man. Pop-Tart probably did a lot of testing on this. Oh, I bet they did. Yeah.

And revisit The Office rewatch every Monday. and listen to Office Ladies, wherever you get your podcasts. What else we got? Who do you want to see Crumble collaborate with? Damn, you know those monster truck drivers? Monster trucks?
Starting point is 00:18:02 You want to see like a grave digger crumble cookie? Yeah. Yeah, I think that'd be pretty cool. I think it's a good way to get, like, more kids into this, which is probably what they want, more kids to get into the Crumble Cookie game. Yeah, do you think, I guess, Pop-Tarts is Kellogg's as that's a major, major brain? Do you think whoever's doing monster trucks right now has that amount of capital? Probably not.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Maybe NASCAR? Maybe something with cars. I feel like, okay. Jeremy Piven from Entourage? What about it? You know, he's like based off a real guy, Ari Gold. Ari Gold? I think that's his name.
Starting point is 00:18:34 I never saw. Ari Gold's the character name. His name's Ari something, though. He's like a real guy. Oh, yeah. I don't know what his real name is. He owns like WME Endeavor. But anyways, I think.
Starting point is 00:18:45 Ari Emanuel. Ari Emanuel. I think they, I think he might have a stake in monster trucks. Oh, really? Okay, hey Ari. I used to say we were with WME and he was WME Endeavor, so they'd get invited to a bunch of W&E events. But they also have like professional bull riding association. Sick.
Starting point is 00:19:03 And I feel like monster trucks would be looped into all that. You know what I mean? I mean, imagine like a gray, black, silver cookie. Sick. These are already a size of tires. That's what I'm, oh, they could do a tire cook. Oh. Dude.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Come on. Should crumble higher. Crumbles higher us, dude. We'd get all the big. What's your favorite monster truck? I don't have one. I've never seen to, never been to a monster truck rally. Only one of the name is Gravedigger and then son of Gravedigger. I've actually never been to a monster truck rally, but it's something that I really want to do.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Jamie, can you Google the coolest monster tracks in the world right now and then and then put the images on... Like, imagine... Computer, show me... Computer, show me sickest monster trucks. Show me biggest monster truck jumps. Computer, show me monster truck flipping. Computer, show me boys' kids. I mean, monster trucks, crushing cars.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Cushing Cops. I mean, honestly, monster trucks are sick. I agree. Tell you what I prefer to monster trucks is demolition derbies. What's that? You don't know what a demolition derby is? Jamie, you ever into a demolition derby? No, I've always wanted to, though.
Starting point is 00:20:09 So they take cars. People in them, we got to wear helmets. People are in the cars, and they're demolition. And they drive them at each other, smash them into each other. Bumper cars. Yes, except the winner. the winner is the last person who can still physically drive their car. These are legal?
Starting point is 00:20:25 In California? I imagine they operate in a sort of legal and ethical gray area. But I've been to them. Cool. In California? No. Like Central Coast County Fair. Oh, look at that Monster Truck.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Oh, my God. Like, what are they got? I don't know. Was the one called like Sabretooth? Okay, Mohawk Warrior, that's pretty sick. Does this make you feel nostalgic? Yeah. Oh, good.
Starting point is 00:20:47 I love Monter Shucks. What had a big, My dad wasn't like a car guy in terms of like he knew how to fix cars. He was a car guy in the sense of like he loved monster truck. That's so cute. Yeah, okay. Jamie keeps going. Raminator.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Okay, keep going. That's what they used to call me. Shaker, okay, keep going. Monster mutt. Oh, it's a dog. That's so cute. You know what it looks like? This is the car from Dumb and Dumber.
Starting point is 00:21:14 El Toro Loco. I like that. That's the crazy bowl. It has teeth. Max D maximum destruction That looks pretty sick I keep going Where's grave digger
Starting point is 00:21:23 Grave digger? Everybody knows Grave digger Even I knew grave digger That's like the one I really appreciate Wait 12 dependable SUVs No let's keep a cake Okay
Starting point is 00:21:32 So do these cookies make you feel more Mormon Do they make you feel closer to God Or further away? I mean this very seriously You're always very serious If these cookies are what God wants I think we live in a spiritually decrepit society.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Yeah, I'm down to be atheists. If God said, like, this is, this is what I want, are these. I would be like, you have lost your, you have lost your ability to take the moral high ground, and we are a society lost at sea. You know what I mean? And I, I mean that with the utmost respect. You're so respectful. To God.
Starting point is 00:22:14 To her followers. To crumble cookies. But like, I feel like God, the pretzel, right? God is the pretzel? The three holes in the pretzel represent God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Are you kidding me? Dead serious. Look up the history of pretzels.
Starting point is 00:22:30 It's incredible and it's also like meant to, it was invented, I think, 13th century north Italy near like the Apennini Mountains, I believe. And the shape of the pretzel also mimics a child's arms folded in prayer. And so it was a little treat to like give a child and he's praying. pretzel, nice little, you know, salty treat, but it's, it's like relatively nutritionously, more so than this, you know, but there's kind of like, that feels like a godly treat, a pretzel. Sure, because it's hard to eat. Oh.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Yeah. I feel like food said. It's a humble, it's a very humble treat. Humble food, yes. I think I want to live in a society where God is humble. Yes. I think that's fair. How is that?
Starting point is 00:23:09 It's a confetti cookie. I hated it. It tasted so, I feel like I ate plastic right now. You know, there's, um, there's just sort of a chemical taste. I just, yeah, plastic. It tastes like plastic.
Starting point is 00:23:24 What is it, though? We're like chefs. We should know this. Like, what does that taste? Ariel Johnson would know. Ariel Johnson would know for sure. It's like a weird extracts. A lot of these cookies have,
Starting point is 00:23:35 the cookies taste is like chemicals. Yeah, it tastes like chemicals and sugar. It's like when you have like a grandma's cookie, like one of the package ones, that's just kind of like been sitting, like you're at the airport and you're like feeling lonely. Sure. And you're like, I should just get.
Starting point is 00:23:47 I'm never lonely in an airport. I'm surrounded by so many people. God, I get the weirdest emotions in airports. I love airports so much. Everybody's going and come in and moving and shaking. I love it. I started drinking in airports alone. But anyways, you get the little pack of grandma's cookies?
Starting point is 00:24:01 Depressing me on this podcast. I have a bunch of sugary cookies in front of me. My friend Jamie is here. I had the best time getting hammered by myself at the Denver airport. So I was on the way to a wedding, and my flight got delayed by like six hours. And I was just having, like, one cheeky beer with lunch. You know, and the flight gets to late six hours And I was like, well, I guess I'm just doing this
Starting point is 00:24:21 And then I went to like every terminal I went to like seven different bars I found a speakeasy I was like passing You found a secret speakeasy Yeah at Denver airport they got a speakeasy It looks like it's a magazine stand Are you for real?
Starting point is 00:24:34 Dead serious It had a great penicill in there That's really cool I was passing like messages from bartenders Like back and forth to each other You know what I mean? At a great time But then that was on my flight
Starting point is 00:24:44 Couldn't land in Albany and then they dropped me off in Baltimore and I had to take a train from Baltimore to Albany That's so difficult That was a crazy
Starting point is 00:24:52 That was the craziest The things you do For people's weddings No more You can I mean here and there Yes That tastes
Starting point is 00:24:59 The fudge brownie Tastes disgusting It almost tastes like dirt It has a dirt quality to it Not too sweet though What's going on? I think these cookies
Starting point is 00:25:10 Have moved away from God and have gone towards camp They are camp They are pure, unadulterated camp. They are all floss, all glitter, all visually stunning. But the actual, the middle, the actual food we're eating. It's not doing it. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:25:31 Is there a filling in there? No, I mean like the filling of the cookie. This was like more frosting. That's more frosting. They all just taste like somebody unwrapped them from a plastic container and like put them into a box. But also the plastic container got really hot. Yeah. Like 200 degrees.
Starting point is 00:25:50 But the cookie itself was not damaged. But the beefas went into the frosting. Yeah, it's like this weird artificial. It's like this tastes like artificial chocolate. Right? Yeah. And I think there is. I think there's chocolate extract and whatever that fudge frosting is.
Starting point is 00:26:05 It's chocolate extract. And I think they're trying to mimic that cosmic brownie flavor. But I think they went a little bit overboard. I think they need to be. Sometimes you can go so nostalgic that you just end up eating. the sins at the past. I don't think that's what we're seeing here. It's like sometimes when chef's like, I'm going to homemade play on SpaghettiOs.
Starting point is 00:26:21 It's like, just all your sex? SpaghettiOs are like, to me, one of the worst tasting. They're so sweet and like acidic. I have no nostalgia for SpaghettiOs. Sure, same. You know what I mean? I don't need your like butter mounted tomato Agrodolce or whatever you're calling. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 00:26:38 You know, I'm like, I'm happy to leave SpaghettiOs in the past. You know what I mean? There's other things I am tremendously nostalgic for, you know what I mean? but I think, I don't know, trying to like make a good brownie taste like a cosmic brownie, I think you've gone the wrong direction. You're supposed to make, it's like, care more about the craft of it. Yeah. Instead of the nostalgia factor.
Starting point is 00:26:56 And I think it's always a fine line whenever like you're trying to harken back to a better time. We just, the reality is we just can't really recreate the better times. It's so funny the better time than all the kids. I was going to say it's just better for us to move forward and think about making better times for now. I hope the better times that all the kids are harkening back to what it do is Y2K when we were so scared of the computers that we thought that it was just going to shut down society. Kids are like, yeah, oh my God, you had cords on your video game controllers back then. That's so cool. This cookie's so good.
Starting point is 00:27:29 This is the best one. It's really good. Are we sure? Oh, it's salty. It's healthier than the other ones, which we like. We like. Are we sure they didn't just put an Oreo cakester? They're not allowed to say Oreos.
Starting point is 00:27:43 What is this called? It's called the cookies and cream cookie? Get the hell out of here. Yeah. They successfully... Cookies and cream cookie. I literally... I called it Oreo by mistake, and I had to repent.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Oh, yeah. Why would anyone think that this is a freaking Oreo-inspired cookie? Especially when there's a Pop-Tart one right next to it. Right? This is crazy. Phenomenal cookie. Oh, good. Hey, they did really good on the cookies and cream, not Oreo cookie.
Starting point is 00:28:10 You know what? I was going to bring up the other day about Oreo O's. Oh, what? Oreo, we call it Oreo. What we're really talking about is one flavor. Oreo is a flavor. Okay. It's black cocoa.
Starting point is 00:28:24 It's a really unique, awesome product that has such a unique taste. Okay, yes. It's called Ultra Dutch Process Coco. That's why, like, this color of chocolate, this is less brown than the brownie, right? Like, this is black. This is almost a gray hue to it. Correct. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:28:42 And that's what gives Oreos, it's, like, very specific flavor. Right. So you can take that flavor of black cocoa and you can put it into a cookie and that becomes red as Oreo, right? It's like a memetic flavor to it. Right. You can take that black cocoa and you can put it in whatever little ring cereal and suddenly that tastes like Oreo. Right. As long as especially you have some sort of cream to go with it.
Starting point is 00:29:00 Yeah, to off. You know what I mean? But like I love when things have those like singular flavor notes that are like, oh, black cocoa equals Oreo. They like cornered it. You know what I mean? It's like how strawberry, fake strawberry tastes like horizon. I was going to say, Horizon, not Nesquick?
Starting point is 00:29:17 Well, I was a Horizon household. That's so funny. To me, I drink a lot of strawberry Nesquick. Oh, that was really good. They really knocked out of the park with that cookies and cream, not Oreo cookie.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Should we try the pirouette? It's not even a pirouette cookie. Is this strawberry shortcake bar? Strawberry milk cookie featuring piruline. It's a piruline. That's what it's called. Aw. The piraline cookie is soggy.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Can I say another thing here, dude? Is it about Avatar? No, I don't think I think Exhaustion by amicrates. Then yes. Then yes, you may talk freely. Whenever, like, this will happen at, like, a donut shop, they'll just put, like, some fruity pebbles or something on top of a donut, you know? But there's, like, a wet glaze that maybe has some milk in it.
Starting point is 00:29:58 Yeah. And that milk turns the fruity pebbles stale. Yeah. And so you, like, take a bite of this fruity pebble-ass-looking donut, and the fruity pebbles are stale. And it's, like, stop, man. That happened to this. This Peerling cookie is just a soggy little mess. It looks great.
Starting point is 00:30:14 It does. So I'm going to let you taste it yourself. I wish it tasted like a strawberry shortcake bar, but it does not. Fuck, man. It's really disappointing. That sucks. So what we liked was the Oreo, not Oreo cookie, and the Pop-Tart cookie. We didn't like those.
Starting point is 00:30:34 I mean, we liked those. We didn't like the other ones. So what is that? Two out of six. Yeah, but no, I mean, I refuse to even give him, like, credit for that, though. Like, would you rather have that or just like... An Oreo? Literally, would you rather have any of these, or you know, you go to Ralph's and you get the, like, that comes with, like, 40 in a little box, and it'll be like three rows of chocolate chip, two rows of oatmeal raisin, like one row of peanut butter?
Starting point is 00:30:56 You mean like, you mean like at the bagels of the f***? You mean like at the bakery? Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. What would you rather have, like that or this? Things are the bakery. Like, I would so much rather just have a normal damn cookie. Like, I am craving just a perfectly fine oatmeal raisin cookie from. a mass market grocery store. Me too. Me too. This has left me so wildly unfulfilled,
Starting point is 00:31:19 physically, spiritually, mentally, and gustatorily. I agree. Starting point is 00:32:49 Great things are not built alone. It requires the right pieces coming together with purpose. Right now, as families face rising food costs, the most important thing we need to put together is us. Farmers, advocates, donors, volunteers. When we connect our actions, we aren't just separate parts. We are a movement, building a system that feeds millions. This Hunger Action Month, assembly is required. Give now, volunteer, or speak up at feedingamerica.org slash hunger action month. All right, Nicole. Oh, God, it's too much dairy. We've heard you and I have to say,
Starting point is 00:33:24 the dairy's the problem? I don't know, there's too much, I feel so mucusy. I feel sick. We've heard what we all have to say, and all the mouth sounds, and now we're going to hear from you, because it's time for a segment we call. Opinions are like casuals. It's just gums up.
Starting point is 00:33:44 All right, I really feel terrible. Let's go, Jamie. We ate so few fractions of cookies. It's really bad. And it was so dense. know what I just listen to. What's up, Josh and Nicole? Just calling to let you guys know.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Well, first off, my name is Martin Silva. Thank you, Martin. I pull over because I'm on route, delivering milk. You know, you're a local milkman out here in Colorado. You're a milk fan? Wait. Just listen to your most recent podcast about America's national dish. I'm surprised nobody brought up turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy.
Starting point is 00:34:21 We have a whole holiday. Based on this. Oh, we fricked up. We can be having Mexican food as our main dish. As a Mexican, I disagree. Turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy. Maybe. Yeah, the country fried chicken, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:39 KFC, you know, we did do that. Country fried steak would also suffice, but. We should have said Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah. Oh, my God, it was right there. Oops. Is that like a dish? Honey, Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:34:51 If he's saying turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, What I love, and I would even say cranberry sauce. Cranberry sauce. What I love about all three of those things is those are all indigenous to America. You are correct. Potatoes came to America. Europe never would have had potatoes, if not for the Colombian Exchange coming to America. Turkey, a native bird, which you actually see in a lot of like, sorry, man.
Starting point is 00:35:14 We had a lot, I drink in a lot of red bull after cookies. You see a lot of turkey in, like, indigenous Mesoamerican recipes, like turkey tamale. stuff like that. Sure. And cranberries, like, I think only exist in the northeast of America. And they're, like, pretty bad. They're, like, not good. You got to, like, process them.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Yeah, they're good when you process, like, a raw cranberry. Like, I would eat that in the wild. They're, like, raw cranberries. Even the texture's kind of, like, foamy and weird. You know, if you eat a cranberry in the wild, I would simply go, like, well, hope I stumble upon a better-tasting berry a couple miles from here. You know what I mean? Like, I wouldn't think to stop and bog them.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Well, you've never had to... And I'm glad Ocean Spray did, because listen, I do, I love... I drink probably about three gallons of cranberry cocktail every week when I was a kid. That's a lot. So much sugar. Why don't we... We all drink so much cranberry juice. We drink a lot of cranberry juice as kids.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Why? It was just marketed to us? I think it probably was. Yeah. I don't know. It just like juice sounded healthy. It was probably cheap, too. It's a good American product.
Starting point is 00:36:15 We used to buy so much. My mom would make jello with ocean spray. That sounds awesome. Like she would make her own jello with ocean spray. Bring back making your own jelly. My mom was a... My mom and her jello, she would put pomegranate seeds in her jello. She's a...
Starting point is 00:36:29 I love that. Good job, Shala. That was a good thing you did. What were we talking about? Oh. Yeah, no, Martin's right. Martin's right. Martin, come over.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Also, the fact that you're a milkman in 2026, obsessed. 100%. I can't believe that there are milkmen in 2026. I would love to meet a milkman. Well, do you think he works as like a wholesale distributor for like a dairy? You know what I mean? I think he wears a... cute little white outfit.
Starting point is 00:36:54 Like, I don't know if he's... No, I think he does that. I think it... Don't ruin this for me. Don't ruin this for me. I guess he goes to grocery stores and is somebody who's like bringing... Okay, fine. Martin's your friendly neighborhood milkman going door to door.
Starting point is 00:37:06 What did they say? Martin, when you tip your hat... What do they say? You've been screwing the milkman. Yeah, but old Mrs. Johnson, oh, she's looking a little too long at you, isn't she, Martin. Oh, she ain't just looking at that milk. She's looking at that milk. All right, that's gross.
Starting point is 00:37:21 I feel gross now. I'm sorry for objectioning you. Martin. Hi, Josh, Nicole, and crew. This is Danielle. I'm calling from Calgary, which is up in Canada. I've been there before. I've been there before.
Starting point is 00:37:31 My big, I guess question for today is I'm really, really allergic to eggs. Oh, brutal. But every single time I watch through a kitchen where somebody is cooking an omelet, like fried egg, my mouthwater is so bad. I crave it so bad. I don't even know what it tastes like. Greek tragedy. I really love healthy, super things. So I just want to know, how badly am I missing out?
Starting point is 00:37:51 and what it even maybe tastes like if there's anything comparable and is there an opportunity to make something that tastes like an omit without using egg? Yeah. Anyways, thanks so much, guys. Love you guys.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Have a good one. I love you too. I love you more than Josh loves you. Probably. I really am working with therapists and how to figure out how to, you know. Love more? Like a little bit, I open myself up
Starting point is 00:38:14 to actually feeling as opposed to thinking. Love is grand. The disappointing news here is that eggs rock. I eat so many. So many eggs. Not to rub it in your face, Danielle. Yeah. But I eat a lot of eggs.
Starting point is 00:38:27 They're like in everything. There's times when I'll just, I'll make Julia's whole dinner and then I'll make my whole dinner and just throw two fried eggs on it. I really love fried eggs. I love eggs. No substitute for a fried egg. Substitute for an omelet. Oh, yeah. The mung bean just for eggs.
Starting point is 00:38:44 Eggs from plants. Eggs from plants. Is that what it's called? Just egg? Yeah. Eggs. Oh, here. Eggs from plants.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Yeah. Yeah, it's called just, right? There's also just. Just egg? There's two kinds. There's two companies. Oh, I fit. They hit it a hard rebrand, huh?
Starting point is 00:38:58 Yeah, they're not called Just anymore. They're called eggs from plants. Yeah. But the just is at the bottom. Oh, weird. There was a whole thing where they were manipulating markets. They were like hiring a bunch of people to call stores and going like, I need my just, just mayo or something. I remember their mayo was really good, the vegan mayo.
Starting point is 00:39:16 I've never tried their mayo. And they were like, yeah, it was a whole fraud case. But anyways, there's some really good plant-based scrambled egg options, but the thing that you can never recreate is going to be like the structure of a soft-boiled egg, of a poached egg, of a fried egg. People do tofu scrambles and then put, was it, Kala lemma? Yeah. Kala-Nemma?
Starting point is 00:39:38 Yeah, yeah. There's recipes out there for vegan fried eggs, and you can try it, but it'll... What? Yeah, like, they have rest, like, vegans. No, what is it? They, like, do, like, tofu for the way, And then they use, like, turmeric and colonimac for the middle. There's ways.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Hmm. No. Colenemic, I don't. You're just going to use it intelligently. I don't know that I like it at all. I don't know that. So it's a black salt that's very heavy on sulfur. And it certainly does taste eggy, but.
Starting point is 00:40:06 You need like a pinch. You know what I think happened is I got pretty drunk and I made a bunch of, I put a much of chattno sala on tortilla chips. And I made a couple different Indian-inspired salsa, you know, chili d'arable. I know what she like to do. Mango pickle. kind of green chutney Yeah, yeah, I know. I know all about that.
Starting point is 00:40:23 And this particular chop masala was so heavy on the colonelamic that it just like killed every single bite. That sucks. I know, it was kind of a bummer. So you kind of like a... I think I just Odeed on Black Salt for a sec. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel like I did that with Asafidita,
Starting point is 00:40:40 aka Hink Powder once. But I got over it. It'll do that, man. Hey, Josh and Nicole. Hi. Really love the podcast. Thank you. You guys have been a great listening aid for all of my studying in school right now.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Oh. I just wanted to talk about Swedish show swimming. Okay. A little bit past the fad at this point, but, you are. You know, everybody talking about how disgusting it is. You know, in reality, they're just not preparing and eating it the right way. Kind of like a lot of these hot sauces where you're only supposed to put a little bit in or maybe Nato over in Japan where, you know, it's going to have its own traditional way of pairing it.
Starting point is 00:41:25 You should be opening the can under a bucket of water so it doesn't spray everywhere and get all the smell in the air. Correct. And then you're also supposed to be eating it with things like potatoes and flatbread and, you know, all kinds of toppings to kind of blend in with the flavor and make it more palatable. So, you know, people saying it's got no place in, you know, culinary accompaniments is just false. So anyway, love you guys. Thanks. Thanks for listening. I love you too.
Starting point is 00:42:00 I've never had stress streaming. Me either. Procured the right way because, yeah, it was used as a gross out food. I think we should have a tremendous amount of shame. Yeah, I remember. When we would take traditional cultural foods and laugh at them. I don't like that at all. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:14 And I think that's truly all I will say about, like, I really don't like that. Don't like that I played any part in that. If a food exists, it's because it was either A delicious or be a necessity. And oftentimes it's both. Surstroming happened because salt shortages. So they need to preserve the fish, so they would ferment it because those are your two options, preserve salt or ferment. So anyways, 100% on that, the thing I wanted to address, unless you had any notes about search. I believe that a lot of the times when we would see it on the internet, it was like a weird gray, like almost like a byproduct that people would like show you what Sturstroming was.
Starting point is 00:42:58 If you look at a can of Sturstroming that is properly preserved and stuff, you see real fillets in there. But a lot of the time what we were looking at whenever we would see a viral video of 10 people eat Sturstroming for the first time. These people were given surstroming that was rancid. Yeah, yeah. And there's a difference between fermented food and rancid food. Yeah. People don't eat rancid food. They eat fermented food.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Yeah. So the foods that they were, the surstroming that they were eating was literally skeletal with maybe two pieces of flesh on it, one here, one here. And they would be eating that. And they were eating food that would literally make anybody sick, not just Swedish people. anybody who would eat that would get sick because they are eating food that's basically poison. Yeah. They weren't eating. They were getting these random, I know for a fact, they were getting these random cans from Etsy and stuff that had, that were literally like, like, bulging with botulism and like not properly kept expired.
Starting point is 00:44:04 So I agree with you. So strumming is okay. So that's something interesting, though, about these hot sauces where you're only supposed to ask. I don't want to draft. I know exactly what you're talking about, and I have to talk about this because it somehow DeBom got their propaganda hooks into people. Because any time, I did a really fun video on First We Feast where me and Christian Alqueza whatever, maybe I miss you.
Starting point is 00:44:28 We tried to cook like a, I think it was like a three or four course, like fine dining meal. Yeah. Using DeBomb to see if we could actually make a taste thing. Sure. And how was that? It's so, so, so fun. We made some really cool food, too. Like he made this like, Agua Chile.
Starting point is 00:44:40 And he did the Agua Chila. I did fish sauce wings. You know, like a lava cake with salsa macha and then steak that we encased into Baum butter to like age it. Oh, cool. So, so fun. But anyways, we got flooded with a ton of comments because, you know, we both took a little spoonful of it and went like that it tastes horrifying. It tastes like straight battery acid. And then people were like DeBomb was invented because it was meant to be just a pure chili extract that you would just add one drop to a whole vat of chili.
Starting point is 00:45:09 And that's why it was invented. So you're eating it wrong. No Uh-uh Go to DeBom's website It says put it on anything It's great Just put it on anything
Starting point is 00:45:20 Somehow I think One of the makers of DeBom Was seeing all of the negative DeBom discourse on hot ones And the maker came out And this must have gone viral somewhere And said like Oh no DeBom is only meant to be put on whatever
Starting point is 00:45:34 Well change the damn copy on the website So I'll tell you what You also don't start selling a hot sauce to have one drop added to a vat of chili. You're not trying to limit your market cap in that way. No, they made an insane freak show hot sauce back in the day when that's what it was. That was a thing, right?
Starting point is 00:45:54 Yeah, of course. You made freak show hot sauces to try and do dare with your friends and the occasional... The packy chip, all that stuff. Yeah, yeah. You know, and they're called like Asplaster 3000, all that, and the bomb was one of them as a little nuclear logo on it. And so that was a weird thing that people started saying,
Starting point is 00:46:09 But you can literally go to DeBom's website. I don't know if they've changed it in the last couple of years. But people were saying that, and I was like, let's go see what DeBom says it is. Hey, guys. Greg from Philadelphia, love the show. I'm sorry. Be nice. Quick question.
Starting point is 00:46:26 Excuse me. I remember the kid trying dips for like the very first time, like five, six, seven years old, right? And then you, I would just do a light dip, you know, very thin coating. sip sauce on my tortilla check or as light as a possible coating of French onion dip on, you know, a frito. Okay. Something like that. And then as I got older, you got more and more with each dip, right, all the
Starting point is 00:46:52 way up to adult head where you're taking full scoops of chunky salsa, you know, probably like a five to one salsa to chip ratio, whereas it's a complete inverse. As a kid, we just took our six-year-old and our four-year-old out to dinner, and they approached salsa and guacamolea chili is the exact same way. And it got me thinking, like, there was a progression of dip volume, chip to dip ratio that followed me through childhood into adulthood. I can't think of any other foods that are similar to that, right? Like, you just, you don't take a bite of a cheeseburger and put it down if you don't like it, right? You just eat the cheeseburger, fire chicken, a piece of watermelon, right?
Starting point is 00:47:37 what other types of foods are there that we progress into liking, right? Like there's like a spectrum, a scalability type thing, right? Ever steadily increasing the amount of salsa that's on your chip or the spinach artichoke. I don't know where people keep it. In terms of salsa volume on their chips. Yeah, I'm curious to get your thoughts. And especially Nicole, you get to watch the same progression with your yogurt. I was going to bring...
Starting point is 00:48:07 Love you guys. Thanks. Love you too, man. I was going to bring up how, like, I'm trying to influence, like, new flavors into, like, Eve's culinary repertoire. Like, I put, like, odd spices here, weird spices here, unique things here. Like, literally in the kitchen, I have a butternut squash soup that I'm cooking right now. That's going to have shallot, roasted garlic, roastedternut squash. Curry powder, garam masala, a little bit of savory.
Starting point is 00:48:32 Like, I'm just trying to, like, influence her palate to, like, not... be boring because I want her to be able to enjoy food and taste new things because that's what she deserves. I don't know about the progression of like trying. I don't know how to answer this to be honest, Josh. Like the little, I don't know. Everything you reference is like a condoment, right? Which is to say it's meant to be.
Starting point is 00:48:58 It's meant to be intensely flavored. Yes, that's what a condiment is supposed to be. And so when you're a kid, your taste buds are a lot more sensitive. Sure. So that's why kids like something like salsa, which is spicy. So that's literally a defense mechanism from a plant saying don't eat this. But like we happen to really dig it, but you kind of got to get accustomed to it. And then also peppers and tomatoes both are bitter in certain regards.
Starting point is 00:49:23 So when you're a kid, you're tasting the bitter and the spice even more. Yeah. And when you're a kid, you also taste sweet even more. So for me, if I was a kid, I could have taken down all those crumble cookies. Also, because there's just a big happiness gap in my life, and I didn't know when the next shot of joy was going to come. So I really had to binge eat all that sugar down. But now, like, two bites of a crumble cookie and, like, my throat burns from the sugar.
Starting point is 00:49:45 When you're a kid, those reward centers light up even faster. So you want the sugar. It's like kids can just eat all that candy. Right. You know, so I think that's, like, what you're actually seeing at play. Kids are probably also, like, experimenting, testing out. Yeah, they're trying to test their limits. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:00 They're trying to figure it out. But I think probably a lot of condiments. Yeah. First time on earth, man. It's all of our first time on earth. We just got to try things and have an open mind. And if we don't like things, it's okay. But we can maybe try it again and have it offered to us in different ways.
Starting point is 00:50:14 And ease into it. Life goes on. I was Joan of Arc in a past life. Who's that? In the movie. Oh, animal. With Rob Schneider? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:27 Oh, it's coming to America. Oh, man. It's when he's going out of a bunch of blind dates. And I think there's just like Arsenio Hall. That's like a character. And a woman just holding a lighter under her hand. That's right. That's right.
