Welcome back, hot piggies, happy choosy.
You interrupted me there.
Can't wait to speak.
Hello, how are you?
We hope you are fabulous if you're watching us,
giving you a big wave.
Maybe you can see my chipped tooth on camera
because I chipped it at the weekend.
It might not be able to see.
And I've got a cap on because my Botox is quite frozen.
Who's that you look like when you need your eyebrows again?
Dr. Evil.
But, you know, it's settling a little bit now.
If anyone that has Botox, you'll know that the pain after the week, you're a bit like, whoa.
It's kind of scary for the first couple of weeks and it loosens up slightly.
So, yeah, on today's episode, we want to take a big, deep dive into socialising and dating in your late 20s up the way.
We'll talk a little bit as to why we thought about talking about this topic today.
But we thought it would be really interesting.
we spoke to a lot of you guys on Instagram
and some of our Patreon
Pigies as well got involved
so yeah we're going to take a bit of a
dive into that but we're going to start off
by having a little spit or swallow
absolutely
also do you know what I just wanted to say there
yeah I feel like we need to say
late 20s and not worse because I'm still
on my late 20s show I mean like it'd be much easier
if I was 10 already but realistically
I'm saying if you're 30 plus but you know what
we've got a young one here but
I find some of use but you know what though Zoe
the same
I think when we asked you guys
a lot of people were similar age to you
maybe a little bit like
you're 28 now
20th September
but I still feel old when I'm out as well
I'm just playing around
because actually I feel the same
yeah I think most people do
I think it is actually accurate to say
mid late 20s and upwards
definitely because you're forgetting
that places that we could go to
for example use Wonderbar right
my 18 year old sister also goes there
and when you really think about that
what you were like at 18
if you were in a place
and saw someone like us who you would guess
you would make them older than they are
because that's what you're like
when you're younger you'd be like they're in their 30s
wide in here
and you're like
when you look at it from the opposite
perspective we are old
sorry
so anyway
I don't think this is going to be a spit guys
because we're going to tell
you that me and Zoe have actually
we've actually had some of this
we devourced the whole
but it is new isn't it
well it says new on the back actually
well the reason when we said this
was remember last season we spoke about the Terry's
chocolate orange the mint
oh you fuck on so good
and do you think this is better or not
don't know
I think right let's by the way
in case anyone isn't watching because I did just
hold up the camera it's the galaxy
smooth mint
chocolate bar
and I like my chocolate in the fridge
I'm one of those people
I don't
so that's not going to be cold enough for me
but you know what
I quite enjoy like say you just
did a standard bar of dairy milk right
I was trying to open it professionally but fuck it
Moria are you chocolate in the fridge or not
not
oh fuck sick
yeah like I quite like when it's almost
melted a bit I enjoy that
hmm
do you like mint chocolate
right you need to give them a bit of them
oh yeah
they'll be jealous
guys
this is so much better
colder but
do you know what it is
with galaxy
it's that creamy after taste
isn't it
it hits you
like I see I prefer
like Cadbury's
but
yeah
when you have Galaxy every so often
you're like
oh that's actually good
so I found it in Tesco
guys
if you want to get some
it's in a large bar though
so we're down the aisle where the big bars are
don't know if they do some one yet the big boys
the big boys is
I also think
I'm just chucking that wrap
out of the shot there
I also think
it's different from the
terries
and I'll tell you why
because the terry's chocolate orange
that's like potent mint
like that's like you've got a mint leaf in your mouth
one million per cent
that's just a nice
subtle
A nice subtle tinge
You know what I mean
I still do with the terriers though
Right
Me too
I'm not eating any more of that
Because we're in the morning
So
What's been a lot on our plate
It's also
Excuse me
Another reason as to why
I wanted to talk a bit
About this first section
This week if you haven't noticed
And if you are based in Glasgow
Or to be fair
Anywhere around the UK
And you're into
High Rocks
It's in Glasgow this Saturday
and I have been inundated with messages about my tips and tricks with Hirox.
Now, I am absolutely by no way an expert.
I've done it twice, guys.
Provinational?
Once with Richard and once with my friend Heather and they were both the heavier weights
because one was mixtables and one was the pro-womenes, which I don't know who the fuck I think I am doing that.
But anyway, it was an experience and I have to start by saying,
I have always done this style of training, functional for years and cross-fety.
However, the thing I haven't done for years, or being consistent enough with, is running.
And that is what high rocks, what it basically is.
It's like a running workout.
Anyway, so because it's this Saturday, I thought I'm going to give 10 tips and tricks of if I could give anyone who was a beginner, what I would say.
Or just who haven't done that specific conversation.
Competition.
before? Yeah. And it started to this because this week, if you've been following my running
journey and the patron piggies were very lovely in the chat when I finished. But I did a 5K
on Saturday with my mum. My mum was up and I took them to park run and I ran my 5K in 24
minutes, 51 seconds. Guys like I never thought I'd be that person. You were quite emotional.
I was really emotional because my goal, I think I might have said this in the first episode or
I shared it on something.
But my goal for this whole year
was to run a 5K in 24 minutes
and I've done it in mid-Feb.
I just don't understand
so you can run that quickly.
I didn't know.
When I looked at my watch
I was like, fucking out.
Running like, oh my God,
like slow motion like da-da-da-da-da.
And I just went off and did it on my own.
And yeah, I was so, so, so proud of myself.
And what I said on my Instagram was
like I genuinely was somebody that ran 5K in 33 minutes
which, by the way, is still flipping.
fantastic. And there's so many people that just go out and run and run for how long
they want. They don't even look at the time. But for me, as we've discussed, performance
goals was my thing this year. Yeah. And it's been the only thing that's keeping me consistent is
by having something to aim for. And that was mine. So anyway, I was really proud of myself
for being so consistent with stuff and the track sessions with Richard's helped and the half
marathon training. And my mum blessed her first 5K in maybe like seven years. And she was just
buzzing just to finish it. She didn't
stop. I don't know
like, I just think that's amazing.
Me too. I couldn't run a 5K without
stop, I'm telling that right now.
You can, Zoe.
I know, I know it's your mind, but my mind
isn't good. That's why we're going to
go to a part run together because I know you can do it.
Well, anyway, congratulations, Polly.
Thank you. Congratulations, Polly.
She did well.
Wait, what's your 10, your 10 tips?
So, let's get, we'll be quick with this.
So my 10 tips, I wrote them down, very, very, very, very
loosely on the way here. So number one is absolutely this is not a serious competition unless
you want it to be. This is your first high rocks. Please just actually go in and enjoy it because
the atmosphere is phenomenal and it's going to be amazing if you're doing it in your hometown
especially. Just enjoy every second because it's just meant to be fun because anybody can do it.
I mean there's no better place in Glasgow, surely. Surely. Even if you're not from here, what a buzz.
what I was
another thing that I think was key for me
and Heather and Rich was communication
so when you're on the runs together
make sure that you talk to each other
and how you're feeling and you can be like
right because you would probably plan
what you're going to do when you get off the thing
I'm just laughing at the things I would see if it was me
like Jess I'm fucked
I'm like fucking
honestly Zoe you are that
you can't even speak
so yeah I would say communication is key
you probably have this big while planning your head of what you're going to do
and how you're going to split each section of the workout.
But just say to your partner, by the way, you start when we get to the next section
because I'm fucked.
So communication is key.
Boring bit, but there's a part of hierarchy is called the Rock Zone,
which is the part where you'll see loads of volunteers giving you drinks.
That is the section where you are running from the station to the run.
So they're past you like Red Bull or whatever.
Spend minimal time in there.
Me and Heather really messed up with that this time.
I walked some of it.
And at the time,
like you beat yourself up after after a few seconds,
but at the time when you need to walk
and you need to recover, then Fairfax.
But when I look back at the time,
I think I could have shaved off that five seconds
if I didn't just walk.
Do you know what I mean?
And really you're fucked anyway.
So you might as well just push.
Yeah.
So yeah, that's my point.
Just keep pushing.
It's going to be painful.
Like, it's going to hurt.
I mean, it sounds like an absolute hill to me,
so absolutely.
Yeah.
Round three and four is going to feel
like the worst because the sled push
and pull on your legs
so is it always the same
do the downs always come at the same numbers
if that makes sense yeah it's all in the same order
that's the way to put it
every time every time
for all the years that's been a thing
yep every location
around the world
don't ask you what that is off the top of my head because I can't be
asked to say but I know it starts with a ski
and then it goes to sled
push sled pull
anyway
Something like that.
Anyway,
slits, round three and four,
the runs on round three and four
are going to feel hard as hell
from that sled, push and pull.
Push through it.
Push, fricking through it.
That's tough in the legs, don't it.
Yeah.
The hardest probably stationed for me
would maybe be the burpee broad jumps.
Not because I'm not good at them,
I think I'm quite good at burpees,
but it does take your energy out of you.
You don't mind the burpee?
No, I do quite like it.
One thing I did with Heather,
that I think is a good tip.
I took an energy jail with me this time.
kept it in like a little zip in my leggings.
I took that halfway around.
If you've never taken an energy gel before,
do not do it for the first time at Hirox
because it can make you go sideways
and make you feel sick.
But for me, I'd taken it a few times before
and it actually really helped me.
Gave me a bit of a push.
If you're wanting to go for a good time,
I would definitely suggest taking a fitness watch
and keeping yourself in check.
Or if you just want to go and do it for fun,
then...
I thought you meant a good tame as and like...
I'm just there for a good time, you know?
Yeah, well, like, funny.
Every time's a good time, but you know what I mean?
If you're wanting to beat another time or you're wanting,
you've got a goal to set, maybe keep your fitness watch on and set it
because that will keep you in check every time you look.
You're like, oh, well, she would have no idea, would you run?
Yeah.
The very bit start, no one told me this,
but the bit in the tent at the starting line,
they show loads of videos of like previous high oxes
and they played the most dramatic as fuck music you've ever heard.
and my anxiety was through the roof.
I was like, what is this?
Why do I want to cry of, like, fear?
So just beware of that.
Like, it builds it up.
It's like, I'm meant to build you up.
But I was like, getting me the fuck out of me.
Don't like this.
That sounds harsh.
So just bear in mind that it's quite intense in that tent before.
But it's meant to hype you up.
But did the opposite for me.
Hydrate yourself the night before.
Electrolite is going to be your best friend.
Stretch, carb up.
Big bowl of porridge.
I had that.
Slow releasing carbs was amazing for me.
And then half an hour before the race in Manchester,
I had a squares bar and half a banana.
I thought that helped me.
And a cute outfit is obviously nice,
but when I went to watch my friends at Dublin,
I watched so many girlies in the tight little shorts
and the skimpy little bras.
They looked fantastic, mind you.
But when they were doing the burpy broadrooms,
the amount of times I were tuck in the tits back in the top
because it wouldn't fit them properly,
I thought you're wasting time here.
You don't want to be wearing something
that you always, like,
I faxed my gym stuff quite off
because I like to make sure I'm tucked in.
Yeah, and I don't wear a skimpy sports brand shorts.
I wear leggings and a bag of T-shirt.
But you want to feel,
you're not going to want to be running around that
and feeling nice, you know what I mean?
No. And also, no one gives a fuck.
Once you're there, you do not care.
All you can think about is finishing that fully.
Comfy shoes, the pictures that they take of you are going to be hit and miss.
Don't stress too much about them.
They are pretty tragic.
You don't have to buy them if you don't want to.
And, yeah, keep your transitions hard.
to the minimum when you're passing over your sandbags or whatever you're doing with your
partner. Obviously this is only if you're in a partner. But communicate because that's a downfall
from me and Heather. We definitely passed the sandbag over on the lunges far too much. So
keep that short and sweet. But that's all my tips. If you like, I'm not an expert like you say,
but that's what I've learned from it. And the runs is what's going to get you a good time. But all
time is good. I'm doing it in Berlin in eight weeks with Rebecca. I'm not doing Glasgow
High Rocks, by the way. A lot of people keep messaging me that. I'll just cheer you all on when
I see you there. But I want to go for sub one hour 10 with Rebecca. I don't know what that
means. It's fucking fast. Anyway, hope that helps anyone because I get lots of questions and good
look to everyone that's doing it and I can't wait to see everyone there. Same night.
Me too, yeah, good luck
You're going to come, watch Richard
No, okay
I just don't involve that sort of atmosphere
You know, I'm like, what?
Why can I not speak?
I don't enjoy that sort of atmosphere
No, fairfax
Anyway, well, what's been a lot on your plate then?
Nothing.
Eating, what have you eaten?
Oh, Zoe.
I went to Musselbrough, the ship in
and had one of the best Sunday races I've had
Hallelujah, Scotland, you've finally made me proud.
You always make me proud, but you've made me proud for the Sunday roast.
So was that actually really that good?
Yeah, it was.
And do you know what was good about it?
Every part of the dish was so tasty in its own way.
So you don't need it to be like you had to put something with something to make it.
The roast beef was cooked to perfection.
This is going to sound really random, but both me and Richard said it.
It had some sort of like blue cheesy taste to it, but it was amazing.
The gravy was like a jure.
doing like a thick red wine
juke. The cauliflower cheese was brilliant.
The parsimps were baked in like honey
and then the potatoes were in like garlic.
There was broccoli.
There was loads of stuff on it.
Yorkshire pudding.
Yorkshire pudding.
But every single element of it tasted a bit different
so it all came together amazingly.
And that's what I think about roasts up here.
They all sort of taste the same.
Every single bit tastes the same.
It's a bit bland.
But I love how they had the cauliflower cheese
and the little silver part
and the gravy was just perfect.
And was that not quite a highly recommended place?
Yeah, I had been before actually, but I never went for a roast.
Right, okay.
But apparently it's the new roast,
and the woman kept referring to the chef as her.
So no fucking wonder it was amazing.
Absolutely.
We do it best.
What about you?
Food-wise, I tried that new pizza place in Baudble on Friday night.
We take away.
And got a 16-inch half-and-half pizza.
That's large.
Is it?
Yeah, make it a large.
Make it a large.
But it was quite large.
On my half, I had, you know, like the sort of Italian sausage, kind of crumbly.
Yum.
I had that on my half with, like, the usual cheese and tomato and whatever.
Jason had marguerite, obviously.
And then we got haggis bonbons as a side.
Classic.
You guys?
Mozzarella fritti as a side.
So like fried mozzarella?
Yeah, but it was like wee, like, thin rectangles of it.
Yeah.
And some chips.
It didn't really, you don't know how much you're ordering when you get something like that.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
And it was far too much, to be honest, we didn't finish it at all, but the haggis bonbons were unknown.
They were so crispy on the outside, but nice and inside.
Delicious.
So I would recommend that, actually.
Yeah.
What's it called again?
Because we pay, isn't it?
Hmm.
Not sure.
I don't know you say that plant, an Italian twang?
Like, apicalo.
La Piccolo.
La Piccala.
Speaking of Boswell, I actually went to Nell & Coe with my mum and family friends this weekend.
I'm not really been a huge fan of the breakfast there, to be honest with you.
The actual pantry and section when your first ball kin's really gorgeous.
But I had the full Scottish breakfast, and it was absolutely amazing.
I don't know if they've changed the chefs in there or something, but it was way better than when I'd be before.
Was that a square sausage?
They gave you square sausage and link sausage, haggis, black pudding, potato scorn,
beans
no mushrooms
which I love that
why do people
get mushrooms
on a breakfast plate
please
psychopaths
and yeah
it was just really nice
so
I'll let me try that then
it was lovely
I sat in the back
bit
I feel like we've been
talking about
maybe not on here
but with each other
but haggis
quite a lot recently
like I'm finding
I'm meeting haggas
quite a lot
you are aren't you
but why is
because it's
fucking amazing
not as good
you know what it is
Jason like
has taken a loving
to haggis
so he likes to put it on
like the homemade burgers
and all that.
Yeah. It's just an add-on to every part of my life at the moment.
But I'm here for it, apart from it's very fattening.
Is it?
Yeah, it's really not good for you.
So I've heard.
So what?
But vegan haggis is actually quite tasty as well.
Because I think it's actually the herbs and spices that make haggis taste really good.
Yeah, that's obviously why.
Yeah, like the actual meat part, so the vegan one,
I don't think it tastes that much different because when I was vegetarian for a year and a half,
I don't know whether I've ever mentioned that.
I think you have, a few times.
Anyway, I had vegan haggis-in, I'm saying.
What?
And what have you been up to?
Well, my mum came up and we did a nice weekend.
I went to Gambah Fish Restaurant, which I've never been to before.
I've never been there.
I highly recommend, but somebody did message me telling me it was just closing down, which is a shame.
I don't know how true that is.
Really loved it.
Then we went to Devils of Brooklyn.
Have you been there yet?
Yes.
Guys, lovely place
What a fucking bar
Seriously
I can't keep swearing
But that's how passionate
I feel about it
That's like a proper bar
A proper bar
That's one of those bars
That you see
When you go to a different city
And it's like top 50 cocktail bars
That kind of win an award
Like it's that
100%
And the cocktails
Are great
Yep
They are really well done
The interior is gorgeous
And they were playing
Not what you'd expect
So it's, I think it's a refurbed bank.
So you can imagine the sort of decor.
But then they were playing really cool hip-hot and Drake and all sorts.
It was just not what I would match the two.
That makes it kind of cool atmosphere, doesn't it?
Definitely.
But an about of age?
Yeah.
We went up to Locke Lomond Way and tried to climb Connick Hill, but it was closed.
Well, the public footpath was closed because of a storm.
So we ended up doing a bit of paddleboarding.
in the pouring rain as you do as we do but my family friends are really into fitness and they
swim a lot so that this is that their idea of Scotland heaven you know when you go up to the highlands
and do all that sort of activity stuff they loved all that um yeah so that was it for me what about you
i had a 30th on Saturday night oh yeah at hooligan didn't you at hooligan a friend from my old
workplace um and hooligan which I've never been in before and now I'm a bit confused because
it was like the sort of
I guess private room at the back
right but now that I think
about it I didn't notice any other rooms
so I'm confused like what that is day to day
maybe they shot it
just for but it was quite small
like the room is quite small like that can't
if that's a place on its own
a restaurant is it a restaurant
or is it just a bar
is it's not the one opposite
the petrol station it's above the drake
yeah so there is two rooms
so I did a shoot there with Ben Laman
So the first room is there just a bar,
when you walk in and it's the bars on the right
and then the seating just kind of going round
or was it the room next to it where it's sort of
a bit more open space and the bar's kind of centralised.
We were in both of them.
Oh, so is that it?
Yeah.
So, unless it's changed as I went, don't know.
The room that's get the bar centralised.
Yeah.
And in fact, it wasn't a bar, there was just a table in that room with stuff on it.
Honestly, God knows.
Maybe it's a separate room then.
Unsured.
it was that you walked up the stairs from the drake
and then if you were looking the toilet was straight ahead
and there was a room there and there was a room there
one on the right one on the left but we had it all
oh I don't know then
but then I don't know if you could actually walk out
without going through down
and through the drake so maybe there's another room
at the front I don't know but anyway
I would really recommend for like
a private event that's not
as big as a hall party sort of vibe
um like I'm sure the woman had said to my friend
Dalyen that you could fit maybe like 60 people across
kind of in between the two rooms
which is still quite a lot of people I would say
but not as big as a whole party do you know what I mean
but it was a good vibe and they'd put some food out which was delicious
I did actually say after drink though
yeah so you did and I'll tell you why that is
because during the day I went to the football
I went to a football game
I was doing all that I was singing and all that
and um did they win no it was actually a draw
was it which is not good at all because now
are they
buzzing
I don't
I can't get into this again
but anyway
I went to the football
with my dad
and my brother
and like their football
pals
because I'd said to them
a few weeks ago
if there's ever a spare ticket
can I come
because I've not been
in actual years
I think the last time
I went was my 16th
I got the Champions League
three game pack
for my 16th birthday off my dad
and went to see Barchola
and Celtic beat Barthol
and I just like no
and um
Of course they did
what
Of course they beat Celtic
No, Celtic beat Barcelona
Celtic beat Barcelona
I was an eyewitness of that
When was this
Tony Watt scored the goal
I can remember it clear as day
When I was 16
So 11 years ago
Tony what?
Yeah who plays for Morrow
Or he did not
I don't know Tony Watt
He scored a goal
Went to go for Celtic
Anyway we're talking to football too much
How old is he
He must have been a young boy then
Isaac Thetton now I think
Yeah I was going to say
Same age as rich
Yeah
Anyway sorry
Anyway
I'm off there
So, wait, so Celtic beat Barcelona.
In the Champions League, yeah.
I'm shocked by that.
No, I know, and I was actually an eye-witness that.
I think that's quite a special moment.
That is a very special moment.
Anyway, so it hadn't been since then, so I thought,
Seas was a spare ticket and I'm not up to much.
Like, I'd quite like to experience a football game again.
A bit of a badner, a bit of quality time with the lads of the family.
So anyway, I went, and me and my dad went to the pub before it for a couple.
And, you know, lads, lad's, lad.
And when it was, I have to admit, I was quite bored.
watching it
I got to the point
I was like
is it only been 15 minutes
I can't believe it
but I went all out
I got the full experience
I got my dad above
and I got a pie
yeah
steak gravy pie
and then at half time
I went and got
a cup of water
because I can't give you
a bottle obviously
in case you
yeah
down the stadium
and a bar of chocolate
who was it again
Celtic and Camarnet
it's not ideal
that at all
anyway so I was that
during the day
and seen the way back
at the storiest head
I've ever had my whole entire
life.
Because of just the
atmosphere and
I think maybe the noise
I'd had like
one beer before I went
and I had two soles
before I went
so you're kind of like
is this a hangover
like yeah
you know when you stop drinking
even though it's not
being a lot you do
kind of get like that
yeah
and also like
maybe like all the
screaming and shouting
like there was a lot
Irish around
because a lot Irish
get the ferry over
at watch football
every weekend
yeah how amazing
is that on the same day
I'm learning a lot today
no I know
Celt is quite a passionate place
anyway
and I think it was
just the stress of the game
I don't know
If you're getting a ferry over every weekend.
And they get it back on the same day as well.
That's an absolute good after-and-a-half.
To them, imagine they lose or draw.
Like, you'd be fucking raging, wouldn't you?
I know, but I feel like Celtic always win, so...
They don't anymore.
It's...
But I always feel like that is kind of what needs to happen with Scottish football.
I have said that before.
It's too many...
It's like a two-game, two-team league.
I know, and that's what I said,
because obviously I'm in a mixed household, as everyone knows.
And I was saying that, like,
even though I would
obviously prefer
Sheltic to win
absolutely
for an outsider's point of view
it's definitely funner
when they're more doing that
like each game
changes who's at the top
because obviously
someone's got a game in hand
so I'm like
that's when it's good
because when it's close
obviously you still
what an outcome
would be what you wanted to be
but it's a bit more exciting
isn't it?
Well in Leicester
won the league
Premier League
what,
2014 and I can't remember
when it was
that was the most
exciting thing to happen
probably in well
I think everyone around
the UK was back in Leic
because it really was
the underdog
imagine that happening in the Scottish
League, imagine Kilmarnock being like
that would be so exciting
it would though
maybe not for you but you're not
that much of a Celtic fan
I know you're not like you don't go every game
no I don't go at the games I just keep track of the score
I like to know who's
I just like to know that we're still winning
you know what I mean
yeah sure but anyway that's what I did
and I think that just threw me off for my night out
because I was a bit done in I had a banging headache
I was getting ready like to sit in water
trying to get outwe and all that
so I thought I'm just
going to not drink.
I'm sure to be that person. I can still be a good
time, absolutely. So I went
and had an arrear time. That's
amazing. Had a great time. Then the
next day, fresh or daisy?
That's excellent. Oh, you're going to piss at this. We're going to
speak about this more next week, but I've been invited to the Scotland
England rugby game on Saturday.
I've never went to a rugby game before, but Richard
used to play it when he was a boy, so he's buzzing.
What contrast does?
I know. What do you mean
with his career? Yeah. Well, his dad
said to him, you can either pick rugby or football and he went down the
football route. But anyway, last night
he was saying to me, I'm so excited about this because
I'm obviously taken here as my plus one.
And he went, so I'm going to order us some
rugby t-shirts. I'm like vintage rugby t-shirts to wear.
I was like, okay. He goes, I'm going to get you
in England one and me a Scotland one. I went,
Rich, I ain't supporting England, mate.
And he was like, what?
I'm supporting Scotland.
I also, don't you set safe? No, they mix.
What?
Yeah, that's what Murray was just saying to us.
Scotland and England fans are mixing on a ground
Always in rugby
matches and they can drink alcohol at rugby
You can have beer
There's going to be deaths for sure
Surely
Because they're not like that
The fans aren't stupid like football fans
Look I'm going to put it out there
Yes
To me if you want
Rugby fans are posh
So posh
They are
It's a posh sport
You go to private school
If you follow rugby
I highly agree with you
That's why I think
Would be a rugby fan
there's never been something more accurate said
she would be a rugby fan
definitely absolutely
and obviously what's the sport that her man plays
American football
oh fuck is that rugby
I don't understand that's a whole other ballgame
I know it's not rugby but is it basically
is it more rugby than football? I think it's more like rugby than football
my opinion it's olden on
any fucking hell yeah
anyway I just think you could never mix fans at a football game
no no definitely not
but I think that's what I quite like that about rugby
So I'm looking forward to experiencing it.
I mean, I think that would be a great experience.
But how fucking funny that he thinks that I wanted to wear an England shirt?
Are you madly?
I'm sorry.
Shut up.
Anyway.
Anyway, fucking up.
We should never have spoken about football in this episode.
Apologies.
And I don't know why that's because I went.
So the very long winded way of what we wanted to speak about this topic was because I shared on my Insta that...
On the gram.
On the gram.
That I went to Devils of Brooklyn.
and I loved it in there so much.
I felt like this is such a place I could drink all night.
But the moment I left that bar with my...
If you're meantied, it was a little bit expensive.
But not...
Potty a bar or why not?
Yeah.
My friend who I was with, she's 35,
and she was like, I really want to go out.
I never get to go out.
I've got two kids.
I'm up on my holidays in Glasgow, let's go out.
So I thought, where can I take her?
She's like, I just want to dance.
I just want to have fun and dance.
Bang up, is it there was of Brooklyn, is...
pop world, which I actually really do love.
I do love pop world because if you think about it,
I'm not going out on the pool.
I'm here to have a good time.
I like that sort of music.
So I was like, fine, let's go in.
The queue was massive and it was quite hendooy vibe in the queue.
And I said to her, I was like, I can't, and it was raining.
I thought, I can't really bother to wait in this queue.
So I says, let's go.
I thought, Wunderbar, like I know I do love Wunderbar, but I don't know if I just
feel like I couldn't be asked
to be feel too crammed in there
Kong
thought we could go to the saloon bar
which has got really good music in there
but again
so anyway we ended up going to Kong
and I said let's go into the salon
salon or saloon bar
I don't know how you'd say it
I would say saloon just because it sounds fancy
saloon bar
anyone doesn't know I went there for my birthday
spoke about on the podcast
and the DJ does play old school
tunes really cool
but it was pretty empty in there
and the crowd was so
young
was supposed to be like a bit of an
older crowd? No, it was
young and
Fair Fox, obviously a lot of people going up to the new
rooftop which is gorgeous
I just thought and I just thought I need to leave
can't be asked of being here anymore
Went to go and get a taxi and we walk by Cosmopol
Right
God you're all over the shop here in town
Yeah so we were actually going to head back
She's like can we go back to Pop World? I was like yeah fine
Right as we're walking to Pop World
Or Kitty or Sheaves we're going to go to one or the other
I can't remember because the kitties has been
refurb now um i was like look let's just get a taxi it's 2 a m nothing good happens after
two let's be realistic never so cosmopol and she could hear people singing karaoke and i was like
i've never been in there that's karaoke bar yeah so we went in bouncer let's her straight in and
it was so much fun again the crowd was a little bit young a bit mixed but it was fun and that's
all she wanted but it got us chatting where the hell
Do you go in this day and age, if you do want to have a dance and a drink with people that
are similar ages to you? Do people similar ages to us go out? Unsure. And then I got me thinking,
if I was single and I wanted to meet somebody organically, if you're a single and wanted to mingle,
if I was single and wanted to mingle, where would I go, Zoe? Like, where would we go now?
Because things have changed since COVID. People have got a lot more settled and staying at home.
people have got into more health things
don't like to help all as much
and social anxiety is a massive thing
especially since COVID
so yeah we thought we'd just take a little bit
I think a lot of people once they're out
like I'm quite that sort of person
yeah like once I'm out
if you wanted to keep me out for a week straight
you could because I'm happy to stay out
there's no wanting to go home
can we just say that that definitely happened in Zoe's life
when we were friends 10 years ago
oh I love it
only took up eight years ago.
What's the point in going home
and there's nothing to go home to?
Do you know what I mean? But again, a lot of the time
it's when you're in your single years or months
or whatever. But
a lot of people, it's getting them to
the out part. That's the problem.
Once everyone's out, most people
have a great time. Have a good drink.
Aren't desperate to go home. It's
getting to that. And you know, it's funny
when you have that one taste of alcohol,
that one sip of your drink,
decisions change. You're like, fuck it, I'm out.
I would say there's a
line between the second and third drink.
Yeah.
That, that drink, that's going on to that third drink is changing your night.
Yeah.
I would say that.
Bad decision.
That's how it goes.
Well, so we asked you guys on our story, what are, what are your thoughts on this anyway?
And the sad part is I posted it on just just first when I, I got a lot of responses just
basically saying, please let me know where to go.
because I wrote where do people go
that are 30s plus these days
and the amount of replies that I got was insane
and people saying please share these responses
for both Glasgow and Edinburgh
and I know there's a lot of people that listen to this podcast
that aren't based up in Scotland
but guys send us
send us in where you go because we can share it with everyone
but I just thought
let's share where people were telling me that they go
and that can maybe help you
and you know what girlies
if you listen and guys
had a lot of guys
message me as well
saying like
I'm the same
and these guys
were decent
I know some of them
they're single
and they're wanting
they want to know
where they don't like the apps
and can I just say
I have nothing against the apps
I met my lovely
Richie Tate on Tinder
and so many people
have messages as well
saying that they've met
their other half on Tinder
and or whatever the apps are now
Hinge seems to be the one
Hinge
have you heard about that app
called Thursday
no
friend Sarah was telling me about it. So you need to meet on a Thursday. Yes. So that's a good night
for a date though I think Thursday night. It only, correct me if I'm wrong, because it might
have changed since because you know how they all do like different tiers and stuff. It only is
active on a Thursday. So you can only swipe on a Thursday night and you have to, they do monthly
meetups. They do something where you have to meet them on that Thursday in, they organise it in
each city where you would go and it would be like a singles night if you like.
and everybody there would just have a normal night out
but they'll have met on this Thursday app
yeah so you know that everyone in there is single
and looking for someone so you're maybe not as
yeah it's not as daunting to maybe speak to someone else
yeah and you've got bumble where the female has to speak first
could fuck that by the way can never sorry
I know that sounds pathetic but who can be asked
that's pathetic from us though
I know but what would you like I would actually be I would only say hi
H-hi hi hi
I don't know what I would say you're doing
Like what the fuck you meant to see as a female
At that situation
I don't know how to flirt
Well I think I'm a pretty good flirt
To be fair
But I think if I was in a situation
Where I was single
And I needed to flirt
I don't know if I could do it
I can't flirt
It's just point of black
I don't know
But can I just tell you something
I'm not chatting with one trumpet
You're right
You're cleaned up
Well
People are
People were always quite
interested me, right?
Answered you, for sure.
And I'll tell...
Everyone in this place,
fancies, babe.
They do, it's factual information.
And not in this place, guys, don't worry.
Oh, yes, might, it might come time.
But I think, look,
being the friend
that some would call shy.
You ain't shy.
No, but in a group situation,
like, quieter.
Yeah, like, say we bumped into
like a group of guys.
We were all single or whatever.
I'm not trying to chat with them.
No.
And that makes you attractive.
I'm sorry, but that's the truth.
Certainly, yeah.
Like, people used to think I was a rude person
and I was like, you're getting it all wrong.
Like, I just, I'm not the loud spoken one in there.
But I think, because it's like you're a bit mysterious,
that makes people, that, then they're interested in you.
That, I've had these discussions and it's like a case study we've done on me as a single person.
That's what, that's the results.
That's in my head every day
And you know that
So don't put it back in
But I do think like
I know this isn't really like tips for flirting right
But basically everyone just don't speak
Just don't speak
And you will be mysterious
And the men will love you
No I think that's the wrong thing to say
I just think throwing your shelf at men
Isn't the way to do it?
No I totally agree at that
I totally agree
What's quite a contrast to this though
As the night that I did meet Jason
and I was sitting on his lap kissing him in a park.
I mean, yeah.
So it's like, it depends your level of drunkness as well.
Yeah.
But men do like confidence.
No, I know.
It must have just been me, I don't know.
It's just you, darling, you're just perfect.
I'm head to your toes.
Anyway, what was the suggestions that people wrote to you on your page of things to do
and places to go and things to see and all that?
It was so many.
Because another point to make here is we're trying to think of things as well
that aren't all about going out.
We have a list of that as well.
Drinking.
We have a whole list of places to share with you that we could suggest to you that if you don't like the booze and you don't like going out and you suffer from social anxiety.
And listen, let's just say this is not all about meeting a guy or a girl.
This is about also meeting friends.
Meet people in janitor.
We ask the question, a lot of people's friends are now married with babies or they're struggling to get child care.
It takes about a year to get your friends to come out.
Yeah.
Which we understand.
We can't really relate to that.
but we understand life comes out you fast and things change right but we personally aren't in
that situation yet and luckily for me I do don't have many friends like that either which I know
is rare for my age I understand that I am really fortunate that I have a group of friends maybe because
I hang around with people that are flipping eight years younger than me but like a lot of my friends
that are similar to me are also in the same position they don't they're not married I don't
I haven't been to a friend's wedding before I don't think
For the fucking ages.
And I've got loads.
I don't remember you ever going to a friend's wedding either.
I've never been a bridesmaid for anyone.
I've got loads of mates.
Maybe no one wants me to be a wise maid
but then I thought no one has got engaged.
Weird.
Anyway.
So, tobacco.
Great place by the way.
Definitely an older crowd.
I'll tell you why.
A lot of people go there post work.
Do they?
Mm-hmm.
I went there for a few wines after the old work
working office days.
have any ever been once?
And it's a good vibe, actually.
Bang up is it's too good if anyone wants to know what it is.
On Mitchell Lane.
It's quite kind of moody.
It's dark.
The incense is pot them off in there.
The sense going on are strong.
Isn't there a weed room at the back?
I swear, I've not made that up.
There's a room where people going by...
I swear, I'm not making that up.
You're definitely out in someone here anyway.
No, I'm not.
It's like a light that says like
I swear
I'm not sure
Somebody tell me if I'm lying with that
But like I went there
Say a couple months ago with my mum and my brother
And there was like a DJ on
Like he was a bit wacky
But
I'm a wacky backy
Probably yeah
But it was good vibes
And definitely older
Yeah
I don't think you're seeing someone
Less than 23 years old in there
Which I know is not that old
But comparing it to like 18 year olds
Sure yeah
Good shout absolutely
Finiston
So you also have
My friend Rebecca told me
That her favourite bar
Would be Kelvin Grove
She looked in there
And the Crescent in Finiston
And what's the other bar
The Fish one?
Is it called The Finiston
The Finiston
That has a really nice
Apparently cocktail menu
And older crowd in there
Which is nice if you're down that way
I also forget about Finiston
You know like the bars that
Are just on that street
Well it's a Gail Street
Isn't it?
Yeah
That's right yeah
And really when you think about it, what young ones are going that way?
None.
Because it is more like restaurants turn into bars.
Labowski's is quite good, I think.
I tried to go into Hide and Seek on Saturday and gutted because I do love it and I love the owner so much.
But the queue was so long and the queue and everyone in that queue was 18.
I was like, why are you doing this in my favourite bar?
Yeah, that's a time.
Okay, so...
I think Charing Crossway, somewhere where I never ever go, but so many people do, locale.
Locale. Chilasquez.
And the one...
Berkeley Suite.
Berkeley Suite is a bit more like cool DJs.
That's subclub vibes.
Yeah.
Fairfox.
But I'm sure there'll be a lot of older crowd there and really good DJs in that bit.
I've never been, to be honest.
There might be an older crowd, but I'll tell you what else there is in there, a lot of swinging jaws.
Oh, yeah.
Just putting that.
In the Berkeley Suite?
In the Berkeley Suite.
Folk will have a pill in there.
Do they?
Absolutely, yeah.
I know.
I remember being in there.
Is Tienneski's the same thing?
No.
Is it a completely different place?
No, that's two different places, I believe.
Is the Berkeley Suite still a thing?
I'm not sure.
Yes, it is.
But I was in there quite sober one time.
And I remember being like, whoa.
At my surroundings.
Well, anyway, if that's your vibe, then, head there.
Looking good on you.
And what about SWG3?
I suppose that depends on what my,
there is on but I bet you'd meet some people there
if you went to like a specific night out
and then you're meeting light-minded people as well aren't you if you're going to
like an event yeah definitely because obviously you'll
want to be there now this one came up to me loads
and it's funny because our producers are just talking about this because they filmed
something there recently but buff bar
buff club buff club sorry
don't know I've never been they have started doing an over's night now
it might be once a week or once a month and it's
I think it actually ends at either 11
or 12 and it starts a bit earlier
so you can still be in bed by midnight
which I don't know if I find that offensive
like what makes you think that I want to be in bed
but equally yeah I do
yeah no I was going to say like
I'm telling me what to do but I want to do it
so but that was a lot of people
so that makes me think that that probably
quite popular I've got a picture of me
on a swinging chadam buff club which I'll share
in the group chat is that like a little cobbled lane
yeah up near the top of the hilly streets
yeah I think I have been there before
try to get in.
Yeah, it's kind of, do you know what I would describe
Buff Club as, like, almost like housey vibes in it, as in a house?
Oh!
Like, there's different rooms, different floors, if I remember correctly.
Oh, I like that.
And I believe there's maybe like a bathtub or something in it, but not in a revolution way.
Oh, yeah, with, like, blow the ball's in it, yeah.
It's just like a bit chairs, some couches, you know, that sort of vibe.
What was the place called flat something?
there's a place called flat
like flat 01 or something like that
I made that up
a lot of people saying Wonderbar as well
I do think Wonderbar still is a great place
but the top floor in Wonderbar
stay at the top
Wonderbar West is coming as well
is that right
is that public knowledge yet
is isn't it?
Not sure
well we'll find out
and we'll keep it in the podcast of it is
but Wonderbar West
the old sanctuary is coming
so that would be sick
well that could either go quite studentcy
what do you think
I know West End, that's great, shouldn't they?
Also, sorry, I've just Googled Flat O 1, and that was a place,
and that looks exactly what I've just described,
so maybe I was describing there, not Buff Club.
But anyway, anyway, one or the other.
That's what it is.
So, yeah, Buff Club here, it's from 7 to 11.
Parinthian, I always forget about that.
Do people still go there?
Yeah, she said it's usually quite a mixed in age.
That kind of gives me, though, like,
I need to be glam to go there.
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
Because it is such a grand room, isn't it?
Isn't it?
And like when you picture the lights and all that, it's very chandeliers and a bit of glitx and glam.
Someone's right, okay, please, we need a just-just-just-food singles night out.
Each single girl brings an eligible co-worker friend or cousin.
Guys, I would love to do something like that.
We should do that for the pod.
Speed dating.
Speed dating.
Southside.
Now, what my friend Rebecca was telling me there's a new bar called Henry's just open, she thinks.
I said it's really cool in there
Is it Phillies?
Bungo
I was going to say Bungo
I think a lot of places
that are more suitable
for the sort of older crowd
like us for example
are you know the places
that are very known for like brunch
Yeah
But they do actually turn into a bar
Yeah
I feel like that's the sort of vibe you want
Yeah
Club Tropicana
That and Pop World
Is like my dream night out
I don't know if I've ever been to Club Tropicana
Shall we go?
Yes.
I feel like that's so our vibe.
I just want to dance and have fun.
I want to dance as well,
but you wouldn't think that if you were watching me dance.
Because I'm just like, I toast it.
I like Keating in there.
Yeah.
Kitty O'Shea City Centre.
Think about it.
A lot of people love live live music.
I think Maggie Mays, Kitea Shays, Wunderbar.
Is it House?
The one that's right next to Wonder Kong.
Yeah, I've not been on that yet,
but I think that's very similar vibes to Wunderbar.
Is it?
Blue Dog
I actually went there
The one
Do you know where else
is really good
If you want
sort of like
Nice saltry cocktails
The Dam
and Abbotten Air
Gorgeous
I don't hear
About anyone going there
You don't anymore
But they must
They definitely do
But gorgeous
It's so nice in there
I really need to go there again
And bang up is it there
Is it Blue Dog
Is it Blue Dog
The Big Pub
It's either Blue Dog or Brew Dog
Brew Dog
Brew Dog sorry that's it
I went there
with Rich
and his friend the other week
and it was a nice older crowd
and don't they do really cool
music and entertainment as well
I've never been in there
but I'm sure they do
it was nice quite a hipster crowd
but it was cool
so yeah
that's a few options for you there
there's nobody else
by the way that I was in
opposite the Barilands
you said you went there
oh yeah I did
but that's
I don't know
that's a very small place
I can't really describe
what that was like
it kind of felt like
I don't know. It was like a wee hallway or something.
Anyway, the Grovesner.
I don't know if I say that wrong.
The Grovna?
Is it S silent?
I think so.
The Grovna and Ashton Lane.
I would say potentially that.
Obviously, it's a hit or miss what night you go.
Yeah.
But when I was in that a few weeks ago for our 30th.
Mm-hmm.
All these 30s go to these places.
There's no quashing up with you now.
I would say that was quite an older crowd.
But again, the rugby was on that day.
So does that sort of bring an older...
Potentially, yeah.
Male?
Enter the picture, but they also do live music now.
Everyone's jumping on the live music trend.
Because that's what we want.
Right, let's quickly round up then with some things that to do if you aren't into drinking
and you just want to meet like-minded people.
So let's do a big shout out to the girls at Glasgow Book Club, or is it Scotland Book Club?
I said Glasgow Book Club.
Glasgow Book Club.
It is Christina and Kirstie that run it, and I think it is at Wunderbar.
I believe it's once a month and we had a few messages from people in fact they've invited us there before but we're not quite the bookworms yet but apparently you don't need to be bookworm to go I'll be the oh one day I'm a bookworm no you are but so many people have messages and they've met lots of nice friends there so if you're looking for friends that sounds like a nice thing another place that a few of my friends have been trying to get me to go to is a thing called soulful Sundays on Instagram I believe they go up to certain
and beaches might be Trunway and they go and do like a yoga every Sunday and they go in
cold water dip and they load of them just go and hang out and have a really wholesome, soulful
some day together.
That's gorgeous.
Yeah.
Another good thing is run clubs.
So get involved in a run club.
Go to, there's so many free ones out there.
There's one at Outleers.
You know that a really cool coffee shop just under the bridge?
Yeah.
Is that how, am I saying that right?
Outliers, Outlayer.
I'm not sure.
Really cool.
they do one every Saturday I believe
or maybe 30
not sure
but that's free
um
Kaizen
there's another one I've seen all over
Instagram
I do think that looks quite young
but
it doesn't matter
if you just want to go
and meet people
then fair enough
of course baby boy
Tate's track sessions
come along
we'll be there
and
come to one of our brunches
like come to one of our brunches
our events that we do
Patreon we've got
obviously got
Patreon now and we've got a group chat in there where there's so many people that
want to meet like-minded friends and other girls and we do believe in that group chat that
there's going to be people that make nice strong strong friendships yeah um but there's also
loads of other group chats that you could join um facebook glasgow girls club on facebook glasglow girls
club yeah and edinburgh's egg community that's another one that's like edinburgh's version
I think the main thing here
and this isn't like a specific suggestion
but just in terms of like mindset
I feel like
stop almost like thinking that it's only you
and just look for options
yeah do you know what I mean? Because I think a lot
of people probably like surely everyone's
got all their own pals but I'm like
some people do have a big group of friends but
they might not be into the same things as them so everyone's
looking for other things to get
involved in and do yeah so just
don't be shy definitely
there's also um I was having a little
look on Instagram and there's one called New Circle Society in London. So if you're a London
girl who listened to this, that looked like a really good one. This girl that runs it doesn't
want to have babies and she doesn't want to get married but she felt like all of her friends
do which is fine and she loves that for them. But she wanted to be able to socialise on weekends
with other people similar to her and yeah. So she's set one up called New Circle Society
which I thought looked really lovely. Yeah. I've also seen quite a few of people and
a couple of girls I follow who are actually from Australia
but they moved to London but they're back in Australia
at the moment just obviously
here they're in everywhere but they
you know how everyone's into the matches at the moment
oh yeah you're telling me this
match or drinks and obviously
it's a bit of like that like clean girl aesthetic
thing we're matching into it because we do have
matcher gals we do have Australian and New Zealand
girls listen to this I know absolutely
so I've seen a few of them doing like matcha meetups
love that and see when they've
then posted like I've seen them post a bit
doing it but then they've actually shared like everyone's stories that attended and I'm like so
many people would go to that on their own and they just sit in a park in London or in a park in
Australia they like all I think they maybe meet at this like say matcha shop or whatever and then
they all go and they just all sit and basically like a picnic wow that sounds lovely and
wholesome so there's loads of people that are more than up for going themselves to places to meet
other people like you're not alone no that's what I think's really interesting
if you do feel alone
let me tell you now
the responses I've had
you are not alone
that is hundreds and hundreds of people
that feel the exact same
but it's just getting it out there
and I know and I think it's taking the leap
personally to put yourself out there
which is a big step
and I also think just looking at what people
wrote on our question box
the main thing is really that
when people's friends now have kids
and married or they maybe just don't want to go out as much
and it's annoying trying to get like a date in the diary
but I feel like my advice for that
That would be, right.
I know it's easier she'd than done,
but just get the date and the diary
yet.
It might only be once or twice a year or whatever,
but it's better than nothing.
Yeah.
And at least you're still keeping that relationship
that you want to keep.
Yeah.
But then on the other weekends or weekdays
or whatever, get into all these other things
that we've suggested.
Definitely.
Like, I think it's easy to get frustrated
and then I'm not going to bother
try arranging anything.
Especially, even when we're trying to arrange stuff
in the group chats,
even you don't get answers.
You just like almost,
I'll leave it to someone else.
Yeah.
But I think it's important to try
not give up on that because then you're only really putting your shelf out.
Yeah, I mean. Definitely. And we've said this before, but things like class pass where you can
go to different sort of gyms. It's not necessarily just gyms, but there's also like yoga
reset is a great place to meet people, hot pod yoga. I feel like reset's good for actually
kind of encouraging people to speak and like you always kind of see. Even when we went that
first time, we chatted to basically everyone that was in that class. Yeah. And they do like a really
nice events in there as well so yeah lots of things that don't have to involve alcohol or even
going out to clubs that you can do and if any of you guys know of any other places that you're
part of or any suggestions that we can tell everyone else please send us them and we will make sure
that we share them on this podcast um because we don't want anyone to feel like that no way
no way no way and also i can't remember what i was watching right just one last thing if this was a
program or like a
YouTube or stuff I can't remember what it was but it was just the other day
and she was saying this woman was saying
when she was trying to meet guys
she would just
find the what like you know like if you're out and you like
obviously we don't do this now but
when you were looking for someone or
you were quite keen to meet someone you would
find someone in a place and be like to find them quite
attractive yeah
this woman was saying you just need to stare at them
just stare at them
but I mean that's like
but they just get to
attention. She was like, she said she honestly
is like... Like the three
second rule? Until they catch
you staring and then you look away.
Ah, tease! I actually think
that's quite a good suggestion.
Because you could just be weird
way. You just, you need to keep
mysterious. That is, I think we've came to the conclusion
that that's answer here. You're just so
mysterious girlie and I'm obsessed.

a few of people have messaging that they are coming alone
which is lovely
I love that
and we're going to try our best to put on more events like that
throughout the year
we understand this one was a little bit more pricier
because we have got a lot of things going on
