Starting point is 00:00:00 Happy Tuesday. Happy chappy, chappy Tuesday, guys. I hope you all had a wonderful week. And welcome back to the best penultimate episodes of A Lot on Your Plates. With me, Jessica. And me, Zoe. So on today's Epp, we have a few updates for you. What we've been up to?
Starting point is 00:00:23 A little catch-up. And then we've got a list of what you guys have on your Black Friday list and what's on our Black Friday list, maybe a couple of deals that we've seen because I'm moving house very, very soon, and it's a perfect time for someone like myself to buy those type of items. Yeah. Because we've said before, clothes and shirt, pointless in it. Pursing goes all year round. You're them just buying for the sake of it.
Starting point is 00:00:49 But electricals, bigger items. Households, goods. Things, Christmas presents, maybe. Absolutely. Great time to buy to save money. Actually, to be fair, beauty is a well Beauty as well is a really good time to buy things as well because they do do good sales
Starting point is 00:01:06 They do like 20% off everything That's just a good saving for like makeup and skincare Yeah I know they come and go but it's usually off like everything on the website Used to be 50% off Stuck up Yeah, it's a good time to stock up And you use all that so much more at this time of year as well
Starting point is 00:01:21 You do Party season I've got a lot of plans by the way Have you? Tell us. No, I just feel like last week, well, we made our Christmas night plan. Yep.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Then I said to, like, my school friend group, what we're doing for Christmas? So we're having a night in mind, like basically right before Christmas because that's when Abby's home. And then I made a night for, like, my family to come over. I've got dinner with my cousin soon. Like, just, I just had to get them in the diary, do you know, that way?
Starting point is 00:01:53 And then before you know it, every single weekend is booked up. Yeah. Which I'm not mad about But I just wanted to know what I was doing Because I don't want to get to the point Where it's mid-December And I've not booked any Christmas plans or anything
Starting point is 00:02:04 Do you know what I mean? And you can't get in anywhere So true So I just did it I needed like an hour of my day To just sort my Christmas plans And I'd done that thing Talking of Christmas
Starting point is 00:02:14 I went to Silver Birch last week How was it then? I've not been It was very very nice Did I buy one thing? No! It's always the same I know
Starting point is 00:02:23 I cued for about an hour To get into the calf Yeah And then I went round the shops and yes it's so nice but for me overwhelmed I'm claustrophobic Darren everything is so good in there but then I think to myself
Starting point is 00:02:35 wow a gorgeous brown bobble four pound but I'm gonna need fucking 40 of them I ain't spending that I'm sorry I'm not and I do think you can get a lot of it elsewhere you can a bit cheaper I think it's nice to go every year get in the Christmas spirit have a wee wander maybe by like one bobble that's a bit different or something
Starting point is 00:02:54 but there wasn't really anything like that though to be honest. I don't know. I'm not slagging it because I genuinely love silver birch so much. I think it's designed
Starting point is 00:03:02 and merchandise so well that you're walking like wow, yes. Actually that whole area of all those garden centres are so good
Starting point is 00:03:10 and that's where I went for the pumpkin patch thing. What is it called Clyde Goldings or something? But anyway, I'm going back there in a few weeks
Starting point is 00:03:17 to Santa that they're making it into like a winter wonderland. Oh yeah. Not that genton and we're like, what the fuck.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I wonder if you cry or not you know a lot of kids cry. Yeah. Oh my God. So the other day, me and Jensen, sorry, me and Rich were packing the house at the weekend. And my friend took Jensen office for a couple of hours. Said he was absolutely fine.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Rich went to go and collect him. Like, we've not really done that yet where we've been together and gone collecting him from someone else's house. Yeah. And Rich said he popped his head around the living room was like, hi buddy, he was just sat on my friend's knee. And then he looked at Rich and just bottom, look. What? You know, seeing videos of kids when they were at nursery.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And then they obviously just remembered that was Rich and then just got so upset and reach his arms out for him, he said it. Honestly, Rich was like, I was about bursting into tears. No, that's a shame. So we're getting at that stage now where he's like leaning either from like me and him. He's not needy. He's not like kind of choosing that he wants you or retro at times. A little bit like he, I think he bashed his head this morning and Rich picked him up and then I walked over to him like, you're okay, buddy. Then he reached out to come to me instead. And I'm like, yeah, you know. But yeah, bless him. That's a sin. Do you think you thought you'd given him away?
Starting point is 00:04:25 Well, have you not seen those videos on TikTok where it's collecting your child from the first day of school or nursery? And it says in the comments that apparently they hold in all their emotions to themselves and then when they see you, they sort of let it all out. Right, okay. And they're like, they're like, they're not sad. No, I think they're just overwhelmed. They're probably a bit confused.
Starting point is 00:04:46 They haven't been away for you, but he was absolutely fine. Yeah, he's not crying because you're not there. No. He's just like, oh my God, you came back. Yeah, it's overwhelmed emotion. That's a shame, isn't it? I know you kind of don't see because you don't remember it as a person like those young years really no you kind of forget that like it's quite a big deal to like not be with your mom and dad for a day for the first time strangers in a room yeah do you know what I mean by that I used to always look up to my teacher and to me she was like miss honey yeah she was my angel and then you then eventually make other friends don't you know then you're like bye but it's also like every year you have to change class, change teachers.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Yeah. Like it's actually quite, that's where your character building comes from. Have you ever been a newbie at a school? No, never. No, same. And I nearly was at high school, like the worst time. Because we moved house, so technically I couldn't have got into... The catchment.
Starting point is 00:05:45 For my school. And my mom just managed to do a bit of dirty work and get me in. And that just would have been hellish for me. Yeah. I just don't think I could do that. I remember my mom teasing me that she wanted to put me into like a better curriculum school, shall we say, like, off-stead report-wise. And I kicked up a stink.
Starting point is 00:06:05 We had family friends that went there, but it was so far out. And it was just known as a really good school, and I did not want to go. No. Fuck, I never. But you've made your pals by that point. Yeah. Like the only, it's exciting to go to high school because you're going with your pals. Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:06:20 Yeah. I think primary school moving kids, listen, you've got to do what you've got to do depending on your circumstances. I think primary school it's kind of okay to probably move kids then they sort of forget but when it's high school you're coming into yourself puberty hits that must be dead hard no I know especially to fit in
Starting point is 00:06:38 I know what like you're walking out of school in the first day where the fuck did you go do you know what I'm so intrigued about you know on all these Americanised sitcoms whatever movies they have all the lockers in the hallway and people put things in their lockers like genuinely is American high school exactly like that because it must be
Starting point is 00:06:58 because for years and years every movie that portrays it is that Did you have lockers? I can't remember. We didn't. I don't think so. I think I just had a school bag and then there would be
Starting point is 00:07:12 like a changing room and you'd leave it in there I can't remember you know actually but I definitely don't think I had a lock I know. We just had to take our bags like from class to class with all our books in it. But even the whole like cheerleading team
Starting point is 00:07:24 sucker just that whole vibe of high school seems such it just seems dead daunting to me going to high school in America I agree I wonder if anybody listened to this has been and can let us know if it is like that I remember because I would go between my mom and dad's house so you had like your books for each class but you didn't have every class every day so normally you would just take your books that you needed or george or whatever for your classes that day so that your bag wasn't like full in a fucking ton weight but because I was going between different houses I just had to have
Starting point is 00:07:59 all books in my bag at all times and my bag was fucking heavy so talking quickly of American TV oh right here we go she's entered the chat guys you're not going to bloody
Starting point is 00:08:18 believe it but I started stranger things and I continue watching Stranger Things, and I'm now on season three. And I can't quite believe it. You'll be done in time, by the way. I know. That was the pan. I said that to you in the chat.
Starting point is 00:08:36 I said, if I'm going to have my friends for the next two months, I need to be involved. Yes, I've been behind and I'm slowly catching up, but you guys are surprised at me catching up. And what I've been doing is I wake up most mornings at like 6am, right? Hate it. But I'm awake. I'm wide awake. Jensen kicks about. So I'll pop it on the TV.
Starting point is 00:08:55 So then I get a good hour every morning of at least one episode. Then when he goes to bed, I'll watch another. Sometimes I watch a couple. Oh, nice. So for me, I've been locked in. And I genuinely, it's hard to explain right. It really isn't my genre. And it is a little bit sci-fi-y.
Starting point is 00:09:16 However, it definitely does, it's not as sci-fi as I thought. I think it kind of does make sense to me. And it almost is a little bit like, this could be real. In my idea, in my head, right, I'm thinking, I feel like it's changed the way I think. Right. If I look at something that's like damp, mold, things that have overgrown, things that are like alive, but they're not. I think that's kind of how I see it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:42 But I did ask in the group chat this morning, I says, so spoiler alert, if you've not watched it, just fast forward a couple of minutes here. but the what's it called the upside down what I didn't quite and what wasn't clear to me was why they keep, what's the fascination with it why are these scientists, the Russians why are they obsessed with it? And for me I thought it was a bit more sci-fi than it was but my friend replied it's because they want it
Starting point is 00:10:04 for weapons for the war, right? And what was the other thing she said in the chat? I don't know because see to be honest I don't know the answer to that either but it made so much more sense to me because I was like in season three I'm like why the fuck are we opening up again? Like, what's the fascination with it?
Starting point is 00:10:20 But I also didn't understand why were the Russians involved? Because at the start in season one I was like, this is, what is all this wiggly shit? Like, why does that woman keep saying the same shit? Who the fuck is Jane? Like, who's Papa? What are they looking for? For me, none of it.
Starting point is 00:10:36 And Rich just kept saying, like, stick with it. Yeah. It makes sense. There is a lot of questions because I feel like I do watch things and don't think about it that deeply. But actually, when you do think about it, a lot of it, I don't even think I understand. That's just so you-coded. I just think Dustin's funny.
Starting point is 00:10:57 That's all I need to know. Dustin's funny. A fancy Billy. I fancy. Do you? I find the rest of annoying. And I just think it's a good program, okay? I fancy Billy so much.
Starting point is 00:11:14 You're going to fancy him more. Am I? Oh, my God. I want to know if he meets the mom in the motel. Don't tell me if I want to see that scene if it happens. Well, that's next to you. Anyway, what else you've been up to? Moving house, packing lots of shit up.
Starting point is 00:11:30 It's not been as stressful as I thought yet. That's actually said the same thing to me, actually. Did he? Interesting. It's been okay. We'll soon see because you have to exchange all on the same day. So let's see how we go. But it should be fine.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I think you'll be fine. Yeah. Well, I think we'll be fine. But, yeah, that's it. Just by the time the step comes out, I'll be moving very soon. So, yeah, exciting. That's exciting. We've been finalising some bits and bobs for the market,
Starting point is 00:11:59 which we've done quite a lot of, actually. Yeah. It's good. I also went for a lymphatic at Chrisma. And I had an advanced lymphatic massage where she used all the tools. It was probably my favourite one yet. I'll link it in the newsletter of which one I actually. had but it was incredible and she said to me at the very end that they have been inundated
Starting point is 00:12:22 with people from the pod going i love that thanks guys i hope you all loved it because it's just i genuinely do think right that we've said it so many times and i feel like i'm a broken record but we are so lucky to have people like that so passionate about them no i know they are just she knows so much and i just am obsessed with them all i must say i don't think you quite understand what's actually happening and what they know until you go and get one. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Because you know what to expect in terms of they're kind of like rubbing your body up and down, right? To like release and whatever. But it's not until you're there and they're chatting you through why they're doing certain things, what you're looking for, what you struggle with or what you want to improve that you're like, fucking hell. Like there's actually meaning behind all of this. It's so cool.
Starting point is 00:13:08 It's so important. But it's very important to say that you need more than one. Yeah. And it's one of those things that I have added into my, like maybe once, one every two. I think at the start, I had one every six weeks as a block of three. That's what I paid for initially, which sucked me in. And then I probably had one every two months. I feel like my body knows when I need something like that.
Starting point is 00:13:28 And I feel insanely better after. And then I went back to Sam, massage by Sam. She's in Canber Slang for the lympho touch on my scar and scar area. This week, again, she's incredible, very knowledgeable. She's amazing at lots of things. Great for pregnancy massages as well. But not just that, just lots of things for scars. Yeah, very good.
Starting point is 00:13:48 People are just clever, aren't they? And then me and Rich went to Santa Lucia in West End last Thursday, which was really nice. Is that just the past, though? Well, yes, but the reason we went was because they've just launched a pizza menu. Right, okay. And they are massive. I had the, I think like Italian sausage ragu pasta. pizza was so good. Jensen slept through the whole thing and we genuinely walked away and we both
Starting point is 00:14:15 felt amazing. Like we needed that. We needed to sit down. Enjoy a meal. Yeah. Just to talk about there's a lot of things going on our lives together at the moment. So it's to actually have a minute to breathe and just chat and have a meal. I had a nap roll. He had a couple of beers. It was so nice. Yeah. And then we walked up to Glasgow, went around there and on the way up there, we stopped at University Caff to get a ice cream. Wouldn't you? text me that the other day I thought I'll say it when I see you I stood out of that after
Starting point is 00:14:44 no going to Sears one day the other week because it's next to it and I was looking in and I was like that looks so nice in there it's so good and what I'm going to say is because Jilly always says
Starting point is 00:14:54 it's like one of the best ice creams it's I think it only did like four flavours there wasn't like an open thing where you could see it was just like a list on a bit of paper almost very retro vintage style
Starting point is 00:15:05 I love that though what would you say like Italian sort of I don't even know I don't even know if it's Italian Is it not like fish and chips though I don't remember because it was seating in there Maybe
Starting point is 00:15:17 No I don't know if it was fish and chips Tortillas uses fish and chips What it used to be Anyway I'm going to say it right now The vanilla ice cream was better than Tortolano's There you go And you know I love it there But it didn't make me feel ill
Starting point is 00:15:33 You went fart on that trip around Exactly that Right. Raspberry ripple sauce, raspberry sauce on top. Not like the one you get from the van. Just traditional. Oh, love. Ice cream, so good.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Do you know where it gives you the sauce like that on really good ice cream, Don Costanzo? So it does. Massive portion with it. Horner's a raspberry sauce. I love raspberry sauce. I love ice cream with the cherries. Yeah. Say it don't have Sugo's coming to the West End.
Starting point is 00:15:59 I know. Thoughts? I don't know. Sometimes I might just leave it the way it is. Yeah. Maybe that's because we're protective over it because we love it so much. Just leave it the way it is. Yeah, it's going to the old Zizis behind, like, Cafe Andalus.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I do think it's a good addition, though. Yeah, definitely. You would rather that in there than, like, a chain border. I mean, the more you branch and more you're a chain, but you know what I mean? Yeah, oh, yeah. They're doing well, aren't they? Fairfax to them.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I think that's nice. Yeah. I can't imagine it's going to be queues out the door, though, like it is in city centre, so maybe that's why. Maybe. Is that a bit of a smaller unit? I've never been, you know. I don't know if I have either.
Starting point is 00:16:36 No. I'm not, listen, I'm not opposed to Zizis. I used to quite like it back in the day. It's up in Princess Square, is it not? That's what I was going to say, I think there's one in Prince's Square, yeah. Yeah, it's not bad. Some of the pastures there. It's no Tony Max. Like, we're, there's levels. We've got levels here. Anyway, Pats is pasta, I just love it anyway. Oh, pasta. So, Zoe, what have you been up to?
Starting point is 00:17:04 Not too much, to be fair. Was my mum 60th at the weekend? Not too much. You've been up to loads. No, I've not. Not actually. My mum's six at the weekend. We went to the private room in Maison in Prince Square, which was cute. For dinner. We had like a wee dinner party.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Invited three of her pals that she didn't know we're coming. Was it a nice surprise? Yeah. So it was family and then a few of her pals. And it was funny because one of them actually went to hers during the day to give her a present and stuff because she would be weird if I didn't. Yeah, yeah. Go and see her before her on her birthday.
Starting point is 00:17:34 I would never wait until after. And then she made up a full lie about, like, what she was doing that night. She sent in a picture as if she was in the pub, like, cheers into my mum's 60th and all that. And she was there. So then she came in, she was like, you, you liar. So that that was quite funny. And then I made, like, cute boards with, like, pictures all over them and stuff. I've actually got it all in the vlog.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Cute. Of me getting organised. And then that was a bit out for the weekend, I think, really. That's all I did. But we're going to London this weekend. with me, my mum. What did you last night? Right.
Starting point is 00:18:12 Right, okay, let's get to the good stuff, shall we? I went to see Hamilton for the first time. But this, so wait, this was your first time ever? I've never seen Hamilton before. But your mum has, right? Alexander Hamilton. Loved it. Did you?
Starting point is 00:18:27 I'll tell you what, when it was a big thing years ago, I think it came out just before COVID. Right, it did, and it was the only movie that came out in COVID. So everyone, I feel like it gives me a bit of PTSD. Yeah, so they put it on Disney Plus of the actual show. They filmed the show because obviously you couldn't go see it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:45 And I remember my mum having it on because I was still at home at the time. It went downstairs. All I saw was the king and he was spitting all over the audience because it was just, it wasn't intentional just because obviously he was pronouncing these words very well. But this camera was up really close to him.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Right. And maybe me, I was just like, what the fuck's at? Like, why is he spitting everywhere? And I just couldn't get it. get involved and I heard a bit of rap and that's not really my, you know, I really bopped the rap. So it was just not for me. It was never for me and then listening to magic the musicals as I do or putting like musical playlists on because it was so popular that it was getting added in. Yeah. And I started to really enjoy the songs and then I thought, but yeah,
Starting point is 00:19:27 I'd probably like this. So then because it was coming to Glasgow, we went to see it and I loved it. Did you? I do think it's a difficult one because they don't speak at all. they just sing right so there's no conversation really it's not like acting then a song comes in acting then a song it's all in song but so is it like hi how are you yeah but there's not as much conversation I guess right it's more that they're telling the story through song but because there's rap it's easier to it's kind of speaking yeah if you know what I mean like just where a bit of a like but I really enjoyed it
Starting point is 00:20:05 good did your mum love it well I suppose she's seen it but does she love it? She loves it and tell us what you have planned in London so London we're going to see Abba Voyage on Friday night
Starting point is 00:20:17 and you've not been before I'm excited for that you're going to absolutely love it Zaree we bought my way we shoulder people go dressed up but I don't think we are What? Like dressed up to what?
Starting point is 00:20:34 You mean fancy dress? Yeah. Okay, fine. But then what do you, what I'm aware into that? Something glitzy maybe? Really? Don't own. Anyway, we're going to have a voyage on Friday night.
Starting point is 00:20:46 I booked Popo for dinner first. Nice. In so-how. Yeah, I really enjoyed it when I went and I thought my mom would really like it there. Yeah. And it's close and, yeah. Then on Saturday night we're going to see the producers musical.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Is it cool? the producers. Yeah, right. Which I think my mum might have done a show of the producers before but I can't remember it and she really wanted to go and see it I don't think either of us
Starting point is 00:21:10 have seen it like professionally or anything meant to be really good. Saturday we left free at the moment but we might go and see a matinee show. We're basically doing a theatre geek weekend and we're both so okay with that. No complaints here, right? But the issue is
Starting point is 00:21:26 all the shows that are currently on in London have seen. Yeah. So I think What's a terrible problem to have? No, I know it's really hard this life So I think we're just going to decide On Saturday morning what we want to do Because you can get same day tickets
Starting point is 00:21:41 You also get them cheaper And it's not going to be a disaster If we can't get any Or if we decide we don't want to go to anything We can just wander about Do you know what I mean? Then on the Sunday Our train's not until six
Starting point is 00:21:54 And funnly enough The only show that's on on a Sunday In London's Wickets Oh Only if I must So I think we might go see that again Absolutely have to do it Zoe I just think why not
Starting point is 00:22:04 Yeah Look we're either going to have time Regardless if you go to a show or not We're going to have time to go shopping And to go for a nice lunch and whatever All of these days So see apart from that what are we doing Yeah
Starting point is 00:22:15 Me and my mum will not go shopping for like six hours No Like who can be asked Oh so what do you need? Nothing And you get hot and bothered I'd quite like to go to Selfge's because it's a Disney The Christmas lights are Disney
Starting point is 00:22:25 the Christmas lights are Disney themed this year Have you seen it? No It's as if it's a big castle on the side Oh go get me that jelly cat Oh yeah Let me have a look for that So I'd quite like to go just down those streets
Starting point is 00:22:36 And you know like enjoy the Christmas feels Maybe go in the carids And do quite London-y bits Because at Christmas time I think that's nice But yeah so I think we might add a couple of shows on Cute Why the hell not Why the hell not
Starting point is 00:22:49 And the only other thing that I've got I think coming up is I'm getting my hair done tomorrow For the first time since January I booked in and that's me I'm getting a done Love it What to get though Face framing
Starting point is 00:23:03 Yeah I think Keep the route Yeah love We're not going blonde to the route I think just If it was summer then I'd say go blonde Yeah I think just bright and round the face Another wee trim
Starting point is 00:23:14 Maybe a wee bit more of a layer Yeah Because I just feel when I do Like I can't get any Rooms I need to go on a hairdressing course I think Oh no by the way
Starting point is 00:23:24 do anything. Anyone that's listening to such a hairdress, you don't realize how look at you are that you can do. Like, I can't even just, I can't even get rid of my cows lick like, like that we're really steep and all. It's hard.
Starting point is 00:23:33 But can you get rid of a cow's lick though? No, but you can blow dry it out. The thing is, I see all this and I do my hair in five minutes. Yeah. Like I quickly fling the tong through it. Your hair always looks lovely as well. But it's just a bit.
Starting point is 00:23:44 It's not. You know what I mean? Like, oh. Yeah, but what do you want it to be like, like, vooom? I want it quite bouncy and voluminize the thing. But then would I look weird like that? Do you just give it a big blow dry then?
Starting point is 00:23:55 I don't know how to do such thing. Do you not blow dry it in sections and get a big round brush and pin it up? But this is what I mean, I'm complaining, but we'd never do that. Yeah, okay, fair. Why am I expecting for one day just to be a blowdry? Air wrap. Air wrap doesn't hold, but it definitely gives you the volume. I know, I just can't use it, right?
Starting point is 00:24:17 Hmm. Anyway, I'm getting that done tomorrow afternoon. and then I go to London Friday so I'm going to get something done so that it will still be nice the next day so I might even get like a pin curl or something that I can then just take out on Friday morning wide tooth comb
Starting point is 00:24:33 brush it out, it will still be nice and then it's just done for it. See if it's done properly and it's held for like overnight or whatever that'll do me Friday Saturday yeah, can fling it up or put a hat on Sunday perfect, don't need to do it when to winter wonder out now?
Starting point is 00:24:48 I don't actually know because I've never been there in fact I think that is open. You could go. Could go a wee wandered around there. Oh, it's nice in there, you know, but you would need a ticket, but it is fun. Yeah, I'll have a look. Anyway, that's all I've got to say.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Gorgeous. Did you see that the Christmas market for Glasgow this year is at Glasgow Green? Yeah. It's not in George Square. I wonder if that'll be better, I know. Because it's bigger. And George Square is having a glow up, in it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:12 That's going to take years, though. I know. I'm sure. I feel like you don't want that, like, not being a thing for too long, though. Yeah. It's quite nice to walk through there. Black Friday then Like I said
Starting point is 00:25:27 I'm moving house I thought I need to get a list of things Good time to buy big things Well Big issues And there's things I need to get Well that's what I mean Like household things are quite big purchase
Starting point is 00:25:39 You don't want to just buying around on Friday June Do you know what I mean And especially because it's Because I'm getting one extra bedroom And we are having quite a few visitors Over the next couple months as well I need to have
Starting point is 00:25:49 The other bed But it was also a good time for us to throw out a few bits and bobs that we had that we need to refresh. So I do need a whole new bed and bedside units. Right. So I need that. For the main room. Yeah. However, we are happy for a while to sleep on a mattress.
Starting point is 00:26:10 I'm actually not that bothered about that. I don't want to rush into it. But I was thinking if I am going to save some money, then I would prefer to do it soon. Yeah. And then potentially it wouldn't be delivered until next. yet. I don't care. But I'm fine with the mattress, but I need a mattress. So I asked my story what mattresses are good and oh my God, the people came through. I just think things that are hard to know. They're so, what's the word? It's personal to you right? It's also like
Starting point is 00:26:37 it could feel fine for the first we lie down in a shop. And then, but a week later, yeah, a week later, maybe it's too soft. Like, how do you get the right balance there? What mattress have you got? I think I was just for my key and it does a job. I don't know if I'm that fussy in that department. IKEA is meant to be great for mattresses. Yeah, maybe that's why I'm not fussy because maybe it's a good one. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:26:59 So when I first ever moved to the house I'm in now, the flat, the first thing I ever bought was my light in my living room and my mattress. And I bought the Emma mattress and I still get loads of people say when they ever stay in our bed, if they look after the cats, whatever, that our mattress is amazing. So that's going to go in the spare room. We are getting a bigger mattress for the main. room so i'm not opposed to buying that again but i thought you know what see what the next out
Starting point is 00:27:25 there it was a bit of a rushed purchase a double bed right now yes so you got a king bed yes can't remember one or the other i only confused because i buy a size down for my actual quilt so it fits properly it's random the quilt's bigger than the bed but the bed sheets need to be smaller to fit it's a bloody nightmare anyway so the most popular was emma yeah um then it was simba very similar like mattress in a box style memory phone and since these have both come out they've definitely got like
Starting point is 00:27:55 more of a hybrid style mattresses they've kind of expanded their ranges over the years dusk now everyone always recommends dust to us for like bedding towels pillows blah blah blah but what I will say is
Starting point is 00:28:09 apparently the customer service is shocking and does it not take ages to come as what I've heard about dusk? Maybe so I'm a little bit apprehensive like if I have a Google like a type of chair that I want Dusk always comes up. Yeah, it does. It's giving me like the T-MU version for like furniture
Starting point is 00:28:24 and it seems to be the answer. They've got everything on there. Is it like another way fair? But maybe like nice or bits. Maybe, Zoe. That's a good shout. No, well I do. Quite a lot of my pals have got beds and things from Dusk
Starting point is 00:28:38 and they're lovely. Yeah, like Ottoman beds and stuff and chairs. Like I think the actual stuff is nice. I think maybe the business model is just quite. Probably because it's huge. Yeah, there's maybe not. enough. So yeah, I'll bear that in mind.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Emma mattresses had a lot of hate as well. So I would just bear that in mind. It's so subjective as to what you want and how you sleep. Other ones that seemed like quite similar, like Otty and Eve, both of their branding and mattresses looked very much like Simba and Emma. Come ruled up in a box. They all look sort of that sort of vibe. IKEA, people said they were so surprised, but it's done them great,
Starting point is 00:29:14 especially when it comes to duvets and pillows. I don't sleep on IKEA. Then there was temper. Now, every time somebody recommended temper to me, they were like, I know it's expensive, but... And I have heard of temper mattresses before. Yeah, I've heard of that as well. I've heard that they're like the top memory foam style,
Starting point is 00:29:31 but they looked pricey. And I think... How much is a mattress? It can range from... Well, can range from like 500 quid, maybe a little bit less, but then you're probably... You're not guaranteed, like you're not got the 10-year guarantee. There's no way.
Starting point is 00:29:45 I paid 500 pound a year. Really? No. Honestly, I think my match just probably a couple hundred pounds. Maybe. Maybe, yeah. And then Emma, I think we got a really good deal for about 300 and something quid. But it was like a Black Friday 50% off.
Starting point is 00:30:04 But then temporary, you're talking over a grand, sometimes two grand. I do think, like, that's obviously a lot of money, right? But as you said, you spend a lot of time in it. But equally, a lot of people do generally have, like, really bad back problems or, like joint and muscle pains and whatever you do need to be sleeping on something good if you're one of those people so I totally get why people do it
Starting point is 00:30:25 yeah they invest in it yeah totally now these ones looked really good so temper hypnose I haven't heard of that before but people are passionate about that one they were like I know it's expensive but I feel like I've watched something recently
Starting point is 00:30:42 that someone's chatting about matches or whatever because I know all of these and I don't know why that would be origin m lily m lily official no i've not heard of that one i have not um anyway that one came very high
Starting point is 00:30:57 highly recommended so have you decided what you're going to go for so what i was thinking i was going to do was go to um ben some beds or what's either one dreams they're in a big retail part near me so apparently if you go in there you can go and try them all yeah and you can actually get them down a bit have a wee lie down
Starting point is 00:31:16 Yeah, so I don't want to rush into it It's important, isn't it? If not, I would probably go for... You don't want to get one that's then uncomforting and you need to go through this rigmarol again. Yeah. And if not, I'll go for either an Otty Eve, Simba or Emma
Starting point is 00:31:29 because they all seem to be the same sort of thing. Anyway, and I liked my Emma. That's what I was going to say. I guess you've had a good experience with your Emma, so... Yeah. And it's just the original one. That's it.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Hailed it. Rise and fall, bedding is what I'm really after again it looks pricey but i'm going to wait for the black friday deals why rise and fall because i am getting targeted endlessly by their ads for their underbed sheet because i get so sick to death of my sheet coming off my mattress and pussies me off so much the deep you need deep fitted sheets and apparently next and john lois do really good ones but this one has got like a grip around the lining and it they say that it guarantees it will never ever come off and i'm ready to put it to the test Yeah, I think you need you do it just so we know
Starting point is 00:32:16 if they're telling the truth or not Okay, fine That really bothers me One corner comes up And you wake up That's a little bit It's down your neck base Yes
Starting point is 00:32:23 Right there So rise in full Anyway, I ask I think this is a good thing to talk about right Because everybody always wants to know Pillows Pillowgate
Starting point is 00:32:32 People are so obsessed with pillows Quilts Median Right, let me tell you Let me fucking tell you What people said I've just get those like to You know
Starting point is 00:32:43 You sleep with two pillows and are just so like nothing what they like pancakes i'm loving my pillow at the moment and i'm sure it's from amazon i bloody love it you know i hate feather pillows they all go clumpy can't bear it i like feather quilts i don't have feather quilt or pillow rich's got one that he's obsessed with and it's all lumpy and i'm like get that away from me so we've got actually two different pillows creeps me out when the bed's made but anyway so here we go I asked for towels, bedding, pillows. Oh my God, people went wild.
Starting point is 00:33:20 So towels from Dun Elm and M&S and John Lewis. So, I mean, we bloody love Dunelm. Love Dunelm. And also, guys, if the Dunelm in, would you say it's tonnexide? Yeah. It's massive now. They have expanded it so good. So get yourself in there.
Starting point is 00:33:38 I think Dunelms are D-O. Oh, I bloody love it. Temper pillows again. Matalan for towels. Right. Dusk, dusk. Everyone's saying dusk. Now, ones that seem like good quality ones are piglet bedding. I stayed in a cabin down in Hertfordshire not long ago and they had piglet bedding. It's giving like 100% linen that style. So, so nice.
Starting point is 00:34:04 I feel like we need to get it just because it's called peglet. Yeah, it's cute. It's a bit's expensive, Zoe. Soaking sleep. Another one, a bit like rise and fall, really good quality. White Company, I went to Bista Village, go there if you're down south or if you're going down there and go to the shop there and I got two pillows from there
Starting point is 00:34:22 and my mum got a quilt heavily discounted. Great. IKEA for quilts, quite a lot of them and for pillows. John Lewis loyal here. I feel like you never go wrong with John Lewis. It's like a bit like the M&S
Starting point is 00:34:37 in terms of the food. It's gold standard for. Yeah, it's like old school but quite like it still. Yeah. Now this. This one's come quite highly recommended. I've never heard of it before.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Dunlop, hello. Don't know. Do you heard of that? No. It looks like Dunlop. Never heard of it? Hmm. Can I ask a question? Yep.
Starting point is 00:34:56 I get what we're looking for in pills and quilts, right? See, in terms of bedding and towels, is there a reason we want good quality, apart from them just looking and feeling nice? Like, is it important for, like, your skin? Or is it more like we just want them to wash well? Want them to last and wash well, yeah. Now I am a, I love Sainsbury's and I love like any supermarket, to be fair.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Like, as there, Sainsbury's, wherever you go and you can buy homeware, is what I'm trying to say. Habitat. Yeah, the habitat is amazing. That's kind of where I've mostly bought my pillow cases from and stuff. But when I wash them, they always turn to shit. Yes, I've had them for years, but they don't look anywhere near as good. No, I agree with you. As the two white company pillowcases I bought, they're still crisp.
Starting point is 00:35:42 The quality of the fabric, it's like whatever thread count of Egyptian cotton. And yeah, it gets more pricier the higher the thread count. But it's soft, it makes you sleep nice. There's nothing nicer getting into a bed sheet that, to me, that's a bit crisp and cold, cold feeling. I just wondered because it'd be quite interesting to know if people look for good quality pillowcases and stuff. Maybe at our age, yeah. For any other reason other than lasting, like, is it that actually a certain material? not good for your skin or you know like
Starting point is 00:36:14 well you can get a silk pillowcase couldn't you but who that honestly guys I hold my hands up to anyone that likes to do that because I lasted silk pyjamas I just think like I can fling them on for like dotting about
Starting point is 00:36:28 no silk pajamas on a silk I'd be on the floor how do you stay in position how do you not just go out of bed Selt pajama, self-pillot, no. I love brush cotton.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Linen's okay, 100% linen can be a little bit too crunchy. It's got to be washed. Linen. People are buzzing off M&S, Egyptian cotton or ducked down duvays. Now, soaking sleep and piglets come up loads and M&S, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I just feel like you need to try these then and let us know how you get on. Bloody Nora. I better get some good deals then. So anyway, we asked you guys what you're getting. A lot of people looking for shark LED mask Yep Or what about the current body one
Starting point is 00:37:17 Or does it need to be the shark one? A lot, well a few are just LED masks in general But a lot specifically the shark Which right now Yeah, I really like it guys Boots is the cheapest place to get that And there's like a £30 saving there at the moment And you'd get the boots points
Starting point is 00:37:31 It's so true by the way A lot of people looking for Kindles Great gift Amazon, we're you think Amazon's probably the best for price on that because of Amazon product. However, Currie's always price match. I guess it always depends on what generation of Kindle you want as well. That's a confusing one.
Starting point is 00:37:50 I don't know the difference. I also don't know what I've got. Same. Like, does it tell you on it? I don't think you really need an old singing all dancing Kindle. It is what it is, isn't it? You just need one that can read. Read your book.
Starting point is 00:38:02 And you can read it in the dark. Or it would be great. I knew that would be on everyone's left. I'm still not sure about that. I don't know how I feel about them. I think you'd be converted if you have it. Do you know what I will say, though? I don't think that would look good in my finger.
Starting point is 00:38:20 I mean, it don't look good on mine, let's be honest. But what I will say is, sometimes I feel it buzzing and I don't like it. And what's it buzzing for? Unsure. I'm like, what, why are you buzzing? Why do I, I can almost feel the, currents coming from it or whatever the
Starting point is 00:38:42 fuck it is. Oh, right. And I don't know if I like it. You mean like the actual electric. I don't want to be all hippie-dipy on you. But I just, there's something about it that I don't love it. Same as when you hold your mobile phone and you can feel like the pussy. Exactly what I was going to say.
Starting point is 00:38:53 With your hands got a bit tingly. I'm like, I don't like that. What that's doing to my body. You're kind of touching like a plug socket you feel. That's what it feels like. Yeah, okay. So I'm hoping that in years to come. We don't get some backlash of this doing something to us.
Starting point is 00:39:06 It's all like, it's all in a plan. Yeah, because how is it? How does that actually get, I mean, we've spoke about it with Apple Watch and everything. How does that get an information from you? It does make me feel weird. But anyway, I don't think it's that deep. No, it's probably not. But what I would say is I do like it and I find it very, very interesting.
Starting point is 00:39:24 And actually some of the information that it gives to me and the new updates that it gets are so accurate. And it's bang on for how I feel. I also feel like it's quite good for people, maybe for peace of mind. And like you, for example, if you've thought, oh, Harley slept last night and you feel really shitting and you can go and look at that and say, oh, I'm right, actually, I did hardly sleep and it's maybe saying you're quite stressed or whatever it might be. But I think I remember a lot of people chatting about them on Prime Day. Yeah, and the deals were really good.
Starting point is 00:39:53 So again, I think Amazon. I think Amazon too. At the moment it's cheapest on Amazon. Yeah. There's a new one at the moment, different colours, but the colours aren't really very nice, but that's your thing. The whole rings of colour. Yeah, it's like a bit more of a plasticy, um like lime green pale pink that's your sort of style feels it a bit of a commitment that
Starting point is 00:40:12 yeah like it won't always go potentially but maybe people like that yeah earphones yes what do you use at the moment so at the moment i've got the second generation air pods the ones that come the longer box rather than the wee square box that's it yeah and i really like the miss silencing but before that I had the Bose Ultra earbuds or something where it sucks in similar vibe to the ones
Starting point is 00:40:41 that I've got from Apple absolutely love them but what I will say is if you have Apple products so I've got a MacBook an iPhone I did have an Apple watch
Starting point is 00:40:54 that it was really good to connect it altogether I feel like Apple products worked really well in sync with one another so the Bose did take a little bit of extra time just to connect
Starting point is 00:41:02 didn't always automatically connect that was the only downside to it but I did love them but they broke and I was past the warranty I bought them in that emotion in like a Dublin airport so I got a good saving on them
Starting point is 00:41:15 oh yeah I always buy stuff in there but I just need to buy something well I've just got the kind of first AirPods which I still like and the headphone the Apple headphones which I love them but if
Starting point is 00:41:28 do you wear them walking do you I'm walking that's it well walking flying travelling
Starting point is 00:41:37 that I forgot how loud the plane is would you say they're worse it though as opposed to ones that just go in your ear I guess it depends what you're looking for because my Apple ones
Starting point is 00:41:47 aren't noise cancellation oh they're not because the first ones don't have that so when I'm flying oh you mean the air pods yeah the air pods the air Macs the headphones
Starting point is 00:41:58 they are and I actually forgot how loud the plane see when you turn it off it's fucking so noisy the noises in the plane yeah anyway so I feel like if you do a lot of travelling I would say worth it like I probably used them enough and like they say if you want to go in the gym and you don't want people to speak to you they're big fuck off but that is the only thing if you're doing say like set-ups they'll fall off oh really why is that then but then I don't know if it's my head size because I do have quite a pea head right
Starting point is 00:42:31 and I've got them like obviously the bit that goes across your head moves like loosens up and down so I've got them as tight as they can be and they still fall off
Starting point is 00:42:44 so it's maybe just that I've got quite a small head and they're not yeah because obviously if you've got a bigger head and they're not as tight they'll be tighter
Starting point is 00:42:50 to your head so they maybe wouldn't because I see people in the gym in them all the time so I don't think other people maybe have the issue of that you just don't
Starting point is 00:43:00 You just don't need to set up in, do you know what I mean? Do you know what I think is so chic, and this is probably going to be... I know exactly what you're going to say. Wide headphones. Yeah. I love it. I just love that you've not felt
Starting point is 00:43:10 the need to go and get wireless ones. And you haven't got all this, like, again, you've been in a bit hippie-dippy, you haven't got all the extra shite. Yeah. Kicking about. You've just plugged it in your phone. And is there anything more annoying
Starting point is 00:43:23 than going to put your headphones on and out of battery? I know. I went out a walk the other day and I was literally two minutes in and my music cut off and my headphones without a battery. They're perfect to say
Starting point is 00:43:34 kind of playing with you as well when that happens but I always have a wide headphones with me the only annoying thing is if I'm watching my iPad, for example then I can't it's always on charge then you can't plug it in as well at the same time you need...
Starting point is 00:43:48 Oh yeah because nothing has to be round toll anymore it's the charging point. I know what I've got the headphones with the correct one now what I mean is I can't charge my iPad as well as listen to it with my wide headphones if they're out of actually so it's a bit annoying for those sort of things if you're on a plane for example yeah um no i think they're quite chic as well i just think you've just you're too cool to jump on this yeah fair fucks stay
Starting point is 00:44:10 and i'm speaking the little microphone yeah yeah you do use this fair enough talking about apple products iPhone 17 a lot of people wrote this in wondering how it is but i don't have one i don't know i've heard the camera is amazing for the zoom but apparently it's the same camera for the 16 pro when it's not and I've got my gripes about it right because I moved from the 15 because I hated it so much had the 16 absolutely loved it
Starting point is 00:44:37 I thought this is great it's just so much better than the 15 and I feel the same way about it now when I record it's beyond grainy the pictures are great but the recording is so shit the quality changes on recording
Starting point is 00:44:52 as it doesn't make any sense the zoom's good though the Times 2 Zoom's great I'm not really sure what to say about the phone thing because I feel like my camera's good sometimes and not other times and I've got the 14 Yeah but that's meant to be a well good phone And the 13
Starting point is 00:45:08 Oh just for iPhone 8 iPhone 8 plus was the best That was so good Bring it back I wonder how much that is on email these days I wonder if it's still quite high and pricey Because it's a source of just sort of have a button It did have a button
Starting point is 00:45:22 Can we have an iPhone my button still Honestly I think do it you want Do what we want. We just get sucked into all this shit. Do you know what I really want as well for Christmas? I asked Richard for it on my Christmas list. I really want an old school camcord. I let you flip it at the side and you slide your hand in.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Yeah. 30 quid on eBay. Mm-hmm. I love them. Vintage cameras. I just think we just need to go back a bit. Too much fancy tech. I know, we don't know how to, like all these things we buy,
Starting point is 00:45:50 but I actually don't know how to work them properly. And that's the thing. You know, iPhone 17, you are essentially, for the majority of people, probably listen to this podcast, right? You are buying it realistically for, one, maybe you need it for the new updates because it doesn't always marry up to older phones. Yeah. And you're buying it for the camera. Let's be honest. It just seems so ridiculous because you're not, you don't really, number one, you're not going to buy the pro max really because for pro max versus the pro, you need to, it's really aimed for people that are professional
Starting point is 00:46:22 photographers that want to use it for all the fancy features. There's no point. I know because why do we all talk about the camera right seeing less you your job needs a camera why are we so bothered with cameras on phones like why are we so bothered about the quality of our pictures what to stick in an Instagram dump for our 10 followers like I don't get it but we're all the same I'm not I'm not judging anyone
Starting point is 00:46:44 because we're all the same we do need it for our jobs to be fair but other things it's like why we're that bothered yeah anyway I would say that's the main things people are after are just the typical gadgets, tech bits, hovers.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Hovers. I like my hoover, it's a shark. Yeah, well, speaking to Alan about this, he wants to buy the dice, and I said, I'd honestly buy a shark. Shark hovers are so good, especially... Mine's is heavy, though.
Starting point is 00:47:08 Have you got a... No. So I've got a wireless. Yours looks quite enjoyable to use. It's just because it's wireless, I mean, that's it, and it folds down, compact, but that might be a bit of a nightmare
Starting point is 00:47:20 when I get a house. It's got a flat at the minute, so it's easy, peasy. Charge runs out, it's fine, fine. I've got mostly wooden floors. But anyway, what I will say is I had the wired head, the wide hoover before from Shark, it was way stronger. Mine's is good, but it's just heavy to manoeuvre. Yeah. Sometimes you kind of need to actually lift it up and put it back down rather than spinning it around, do you know what I mean? Yeah. So there's a cleaner at our
Starting point is 00:47:49 office and she's got one of these almighty industrial I'll describe it as like a yellow Henry Hoover. And one day she was down in the cafe and I wanted to hoover office and I didn't want to ask her. So I was like oh can I borrow your hoover? And she was like absolutely it was the best thing I've ever used in my entire life
Starting point is 00:48:08 now I want this industrial hoover. Maybe you could just get that. It was so good Zoe. I need to find out what it is. And I find the hoop, you know how she just holds it? It's like the kind of like stretching It was there, one of them. It's been like a Henry of the Hoover, but a bigger version. It's not got like a tall handle. Actually, I want to get down and in.
Starting point is 00:48:27 Yeah. Like, I don't need to be standing straight with my hoover. Like, I'm going to get around the sides. Yeah, I kind of want to get low. Make sure I'm getting everything. Richard Ovidge isn't over this conversation. He loves this. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Any guys at this one will be fucking whipped. A couple of the people wanted a loomy alarm clock. Had one before, by the way, punted it on vintage to check there. I want the espresso sage machine so much You saw a bag saving on that though, did you not? Huge saving So I went into the store, I think I said this on the pod And it was like, what, six, seven hundred quid?
Starting point is 00:49:02 And then I saw it in Curries yesterday for 300 quid I was like, make that make sense You'd be fuming if you bought that by the way A fuming I need a fridge I need a big fridge There's no a fridge when you move in Yeah, but it's small
Starting point is 00:49:15 I want a big double fridge, yeah a lot of people want pots and pans so non-toxic pots and pots and pans as well definitely definitely look at green pan and invest it go to pro-cook get stainless steel ones you need to try and work out how to cook with stainless steel I don't mean that in any way
Starting point is 00:49:35 because I am quite bad with it sometimes but it burns more so why are things so difficult in this life I know if you're changing a completely different material of your pan you need to just maybe have a little look into it because it can change some things. But non-toxic pots and pans, green pan's amazing. Love castailles, Le Crucese.
Starting point is 00:49:54 I'm obsessed with hex-clad knives and global knives as well. They're the best ever. I'm loving hex-clad pans as well. And a lot of people want our hairbrush. La Boss brush, whatever it's called. So good, by the way. Jewelry, Monica Vanader, Albert Lyon, Astridamil. They all do really good.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Blackflare the sales, I feel. A lot of people want the ninja creamy to make ice cream. I have the cuisine art, handheld one, which I absolutely love. And I think a shark air wrap rather than a Dyson air wrap. Christmas trees. I would say get a Christmas tree after Christmas, by the way. Bowsam Hill or White Company. I'm guessing you're wanting a good quality one from the...
Starting point is 00:50:38 Are you keeping your tree? Are you joking, yes. Got a balsam hill. I think you might need better than that. I know, I thought that, but maybe that could go in the... the kitchen. Yeah. I think you need bigger. If I get bigger then I'll get a real one. Yeah. I don't know if I'm going to go real this year. You can have to buy one then Zaz? No. Do you want mine? I think Lindsay's going to give me one because it's too big for her new flat. Oh. But the issue is
Starting point is 00:51:03 Cookie just wants to eat the real tree. Yes. Because it's giving outdoors for her. Do you know what I mean? Do you think she's outside? Although I think she'll eat the fake one as well. Yeah. But it might just be easier to manage. I can get like a better kind of like tree skirt and stuff where there's a real one is about it's always a bit wonky and saw a good tree skirt in B&M actually and Donnell the nice woven basket tree skirts cheap and lastly someone's looking for their wedding ring that's a good one good shout wow that's a good time we get stuff like that by the way skincare um and shout I'm going to get more of that shampoo condition space and can sale space in case a 100% gym shark sale so gym wear
Starting point is 00:51:43 shit like that Oh and Graham wants to get a dash cam Graham the guy here wants to get a dash cam That's quite a good gift for your DAZ
Starting point is 00:51:53 I feel by the way Yeah For Christmas He said he wants a dash cam And a Dyson Hoover So I hope that gives you some ideas But it's the usual shit in it
Starting point is 00:52:02 I know It's always the same Right So we've got a follow-up message From a pod pig Who we read out Our dilemma A wee while ago
Starting point is 00:52:13 about her moving to Manchester from Glasgow and had been dating a guy. Oh yeah? And she really liked him and she wasn't sure if they were going to be able to do it long distance and he had been in a long distance relationship
Starting point is 00:52:26 before and really hated it. That's right. Do you remember that? So we gave her advice, etc. So anyway, she messaged yesterday saying, hey girls, you may be remember I messaged a while back about moving to Manchester slash trying long distance
Starting point is 00:52:40 which she responded to on a Patreon ep. happy to report all is going well there we're super loved up in making it work having been in Manchester two months now and finding it hard to feel settled most of my closest people are in Scotland still and struggling a bit in terms of making pals just wondering if you girls have any advice
Starting point is 00:52:57 I know it takes time for these things to happen but how much time Jess I know you did the big move to Glasgow many moons ago and was wondering if you remember feeling the same also maybe some other podpiggies could relate love you girls you brighten up my Tuesdays and Fridays Any advice for a lovely podpink put yourself out there
Starting point is 00:53:15 and I joined how can we do that I joined a gym that was a bit more class focused where you had to mingle with other people rather than just like peers maybe and stuff yep and I would say my
Starting point is 00:53:27 workplace was very female orientated so I put myself out there in terms of like at the Christmas party I made sure that I spoke to people I engaged who I thought I would have things in common with rather than just making any old friends
Starting point is 00:53:41 I think I said that to you before but in the kitchen I'd just strike up conversations with people I think a lot of people spoke to me anyway because I was a bit different in terms of I had come up from London to work somewhere in Scotland I had a different accent They also had the same effort
Starting point is 00:53:56 to give to you because they were aware that you were up on your own too and I do think Scottish people are just nice like that so I never felt I never struggled I'll be honest with you and I'm also quite a confident person but you might be as well so just believing you will make friends
Starting point is 00:54:12 And weirdly, well, it's not weird, actually. There's so many people that feel the same way, but everyone's just, like, we should do some sort of like date night things for friends. Like, it's crazy. Do you know what I mean? Like, everyone wants to also find their life partner, but most people actually more than likely want to find really good friends who that they have in common with it.
Starting point is 00:54:32 They know themselves a lot more now at this age that they're struggling to find people on their wavelength. So find something that you enjoy doing. So let's say you like running, go and join a run club. if you like reading, join a book club. Yeah, like, don't do these things you can do on your own, but choose not to. Yeah, pottery classes, I don't know. Podcast community things like we do, like our Patreon. There's so many girls in the Patreon chat that can always organize meetups if you want to do that.
Starting point is 00:55:00 I'll come into our events and we'll always put on things. Like if you come on on your room, we can put you on like a solo table, there's things like that. Just right in our patron chat. I think you might need to put yourself in a few. uncomfortable positions to get there first. Yeah. Do you know what I mean? Like going to the run club on your own might feel quite daunting or going to the book club on your own might feel daunting but without doing any of that you're not going to be able to meet someone. Yeah. Or a few different friends. So you might
Starting point is 00:55:27 just need to kind of push yourself out of comfort zone. Totally. Actually saying that, somebody wrote in our chat today, it breaks my heart. Hi girls, any Melbourne podpiggies? I've just recently moved here and wondered if there was anyone who fancied meeting up. Ouch! And she look so gorgeous as well. So guys, get in the chat or if you are an Australia listener, people want to meet. Scottish girlies want to meet. They want to meet up. I'm presuming she's Scottish. Please do. We also had another dilemma. I'm currently going through a time of life where I feel like I'm having a bit of an identity crisis, not enjoying my job, feel like I want to move house, question certain friendships and feel like I want to be in every item of clothing I own and start
Starting point is 00:56:05 again. Relate. Anyways, I don't usually say mesh like this, but it was just listening to the pod. was thinking how much of a constant and comfort listening to you girls is in my life gives me such motivation to want the best for myself and every car journey feels like I'm spending time with my pals being able to listen, you're smashing it. No, that's so cute. That's lovely. I'm glad we make you feel that way.
Starting point is 00:56:24 What a treat. Love her. Is that you answer to this one? Oh God, that's difficult. Not enjoying my job. I feel like I want to move house, question certain friendships. Honestly, I feel like as women have those moments a couple of things. times a month.
Starting point is 00:56:40 100%. And I don't know if this is helpful in any way, but I think you just need to ride the way. Ride it out. It's so normal. I do actually think you need to because I do the full house thing a lot. Like I want more space. I want to be able to host, blah, blah, and then the next month I'm like I love my wee flat.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Like it's perfect. It doesn't cost as much, whatever. Like it's the time of the month I feel. Yeah. But I think we actually get it twice. Like Georgia was saying there's actually more times than just that one week. Do you know what I mean? Of like phases that you feel. I would make a physical or mental note of like a three-month period, right?
Starting point is 00:57:16 Uh-huh. Have you had the same thoughts all months? And is it a repeating pattern? Or is there maybe just one? Like, is the house thing a consistent thing? But everything else actually comes and goes? It's maybe just like, you know, a bit of a shit mood and whatever. And then take it from there.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Mm-hmm. Because maybe you do really want a new space and that can be priority. Yeah. But I know it's so difficult. It's not that. helpful but I do just think we go through these stages but we all do it but listen it will all work out in the end it always does absolutely and maybe sort of things that might help with that actually is um practicing gratitude or writing down how you feel journaling because you you you're all these
Starting point is 00:57:57 things that you want to change actually when you zoom out we absolutely love this um it might not even be a big deal you're focusing probably on the wrong things when actually you've probably got it really good. There was a point in your life where you probably wish to be where you are right now and you're maybe forgetting that you're constantly wanting new things next steps and maybe you just need to be grounded a little bit in yourself. I also feel like there's maybe
Starting point is 00:58:18 one of these things that you've listed that is the true one that you want change. That you really do want yeah. But actually if you're feeling overwhelmed. Say it's your hate in your job which I'm going to guess it probably will be that one. Yeah. That then makes you annoyed at home. Then you hate your house. Then you want a new space. You're then getting annoyed with people
Starting point is 00:58:36 because you're irritated because of your workplace. Then you're getting annoyed at what you're wearing. Because you're fucking sick I can't make to get ready for your job that you hate. Like all of these things
Starting point is 00:58:44 will have a domino effect. We did a good exercise actually at Megan's life coaching event where you did a sort of pie chart and you split it into let's say eight sections. You write in each thing something that you
Starting point is 00:58:54 that's bothering you so you could put like your job, your relationship, your friendships, your health, blah blah, right? And then score them out of 10
Starting point is 00:59:03 what you think you're being the best? that. So let's say, for example, you think you're being absolutely on it with your fitness and your health. That could be 10. But your job is making you feel like a two. Anyway, you then connect all the dots and you can visually see which one is the one getting you down the most. Yeah. And that's the one that you could focus on building back up again. So maybe if you just need to just write it down and visualize it, you might feel a bit of pressure, you know, take some weight off your shoulders, a bit of pressure off. And then you can actually see, okay, actually,
Starting point is 00:59:31 this is what's causing that domino effect of making me feel like I hate everything else because I'm actually doing quite well at this. Exactly. You can never have all the plates spinning at the one time, of course, but it might just give you a bit of clarity that you need. Yeah, and you can't change all of these things at once either because then you will have an identity crisis, you'll be fucking all over the shop.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Yeah. You need to take it one at a time. And also, it's totally normal to feel how you feeling. We all feel it. It's a shit time of year. I mean, I know we love this season, but it's a time of year where, I mean, I even feel like the last week with work you're kind of that way,
Starting point is 01:00:02 you're just like, oh my God, there's so much to do by the end of the year. Like, there's a bit of a pressure. there is isn't there and it's not even just like I should have done this this and this it's more just like you kind of want everything to feel finished by the end of the year
Starting point is 01:00:13 you want to go into the new year feeling fresh like you're almost at the start again yeah so there is a kind of just an overwhelming I think a lot of people are feeling that way people are saying it's like the full moon Mercury's and fucking Lucasade
Starting point is 01:00:25 and microwave and all that body it's been everyone's just Le Miserables you know what I mean It's a tough time It's my favourite season
