Starting point is 00:00:00 Happy Friday, fuckers. I hope you've had a fantastic week so far. We've got the giggles. We've just been sat chatting utter bollocks for the past 20 minutes. How can you be so, like, negative, but laugh so much at the same time? I don't know. We've been insulted ourselves over and over and over again. You just put that out as a bonus.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Yeah, I know. You should actually. We should. Anyway. What have you got for us today? She said to me, just as we hear it, but God, I'm not speaking on this one. Okay, then.
Starting point is 00:00:55 Fine. So, on this, on today's episodes, we have full call to talk about. No, you have get lords. I actually do have a lot. You've got a bit of feedback on legal tender. Another thing that we chat bollocks about, we said that it was, apparently it was legal tender. It's not, guys, it's not. So that's actually drive away.
Starting point is 00:01:26 That's actually even worse, though, I think. Yeah. Make it make sense. Let me read it out to you. I've got a fact sent to me. In short, legal tender coins in Scotland are coins issued by the rule mint only. Scottish notes are not legal tender in Scotland,
Starting point is 00:01:46 nor the rest of the UK. And English bank notes are not legal tender in Scotland, although they are legal tender in England and Wales. Scottish notes are produced privately by three banks. Bank of Scotland, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and Clyde's Bank, but approved by Parliament making them a legal currency. However, the 1833 banknotes allowed £5 notes above issued by the Bank of England legal tender. Are you still with me?
Starting point is 00:02:16 Therefore, Scottish banknotes are legal currency but not legal tender. I wonder how many people clicked off of the episode there. are you back with us yet anyway what does that even mean though Scotland just get a hard time Scottish banknotes are legal currency but not legal tender
Starting point is 00:02:35 what don't get that anyway thanks for that fact we were wrong you were right next one skinning me feedback which we've promised you for a month Hey Jess and Zoe.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Just want to say I love the pod so much. It's the only part I've ever been able to get into and look forward to. Well, I feel honoured. Maybe it's because I'm a Glasgow girl and I find it so relatable. I love that. On the skin in me, I've been using it for around six months now. Sorry, I can't stop laughing. I'm thinking about cancelling.
Starting point is 00:03:16 I recommended it's two friends who actually cancelled after trying as it wasn't giving the results that they wanted. I love the results initially in the first month as it helped control my oily skin. The results unfortunately didn't last very long.
Starting point is 00:03:27 My other main concern was pigmentation which hasn't been helped with at all. What was the issue that a few other people sent in Zoe that they ended up getting, was it trestinoin that's in the prescription that you get sent? But it was causing them to actually have pigmentation
Starting point is 00:03:42 or sensitivity. Yeah, because you need to get to. I think that's quite a harsh ingredient but they have it in quite a lot of their products which people have then realised is too much for their skin. So then it's actually caused more harm than good.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Because you're not actually having a face-to-face consultation you are just only having it over like what? Is it not even a Zoom call? It's just literally... I think it's just like a form application. And you send pictures? Yeah. But saying that, we did actually get a lot of people message saying that it's been life changing for them. But I would
Starting point is 00:04:12 say the reason we're talking about this again is because I would say about 60% was bad and 40% was good. Yeah, that's true. Feedback that people message does say. So I think really the main thing to take from that is to... Everyone's skin's different. Everyone's skin different, yep, for a start. And to look into maybe like the ingredients in each of your things
Starting point is 00:04:33 so that if it doesn't work for you, can maybe try and pinpoint specific things. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Because I think you can go back to them and say, like, I think this is too much and blah, blah, blah. They can reduce it. Interesting, very interesting. Yeah, so we thought we'd let you know on that one because we did have quite a lot of feedback on Skinny Me.
Starting point is 00:04:52 I know a lot of people have tried it because I do think there's so many influences out there that have amazing codes. Can you get that wee daily doser thing I saw the other day for like four pounds? Four pound, yeah. I was tempted, I'm not going to lie. Yeah, I've had good things. You know who else loves it?
Starting point is 00:05:06 Is that Caroline Hiron's? She's the skin queen. She loves it. So another thing that I wanted to speak about was jewellery. We spoke last week that we love gold jewellery and I actually got sent a gorgeous surprise little package from Rialta. It's a brand here based in Glasgow but she's
Starting point is 00:05:24 actually Irish. Lovely girl but her jewelry is amazing. I think it might be titanium or gold plated but it does not tarnish on me. You know how I'm really funny with my jewellery. And she sent me this super cute cowboy boot. Did you see it? I see that. It's really nice. So if anyone wants a gift for a friend that's really into country music or just I don't know just likes cowboy boots. It's so cute.
Starting point is 00:05:44 And then I also got like a Libra necklace, lots of horoscope stuff. But I really like the jewelry. It's like yellowy gold. And then yesterday, me and Zoe, we did a big day out. We tied our friendship for life. She's not getting rid of me yet. Do you know what? It's actually tangled around my other bracelet here, but we got a welded bracelet.
Starting point is 00:06:04 I've always wanted to get one. Me too. I think it's a really nice idea. I also think it's really cute for a gift. So cute. Or like go and do it together with a friend? Yep. Or your mum or something.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Absolutely. And it was so quick and easy, by the way. So quick. We went to a place called Bold. It is on Great Western Road. For anyone who didn't understand what Jess said there, because I didn't. It's called Bold. What did I say?
Starting point is 00:06:29 Bold. Bold. What do you? You're struggling to say that. Bold. How do you say it? Bold. Bould.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Anyway, bold. So we got our welded bracelets It was really nice in there And we both went for the same chain But I actually got a little charm Got like a little star I didn't get a charm But as soon as she was finished
Starting point is 00:06:55 I thought I should just got one No I like yours It's quite simple It grows nice with your Cassio Does that mean you can't take it off Yeah You can't even cut it off
Starting point is 00:07:03 But they put the wee See the wee bit you would usually clip Into like a wee hoop They put that on And then she used a wee Like laser thing to basically weld the metal together. You had to put glasses on, didn't we?
Starting point is 00:07:16 Mm-hmm. And then it can't come off. So cute. Such a nice little idea. So we got that. Good prices as well, to be fair. And then we've got a little care package today. Where is it, Oz?
Starting point is 00:07:28 There's yours. Small business shout-outs. In fact, these are all small businesses. We're shouting out. Hey, Jess and Zoe. We hope you love your pieces. We have added some of our bestsellers as well. Everything is hand-finished in house
Starting point is 00:07:40 and can be customised or personalized to suit your style. Love from Team Orley. Orley Jewelry and we and Zoe picked on the website and we have got the biggest boxes ever. I've got so many things in here. I've got jewellery. I can't wait to wear all this. I think I've got eight things in here.
Starting point is 00:07:58 Same. We've got some lovely chunky gold earrings, gold necklaces, bracelets, rings. Definitely check them out. O-R-L-I jewellery. So beautiful. One of the rings is a fidget ring. which I didn't know existed until Jess told me about it for obvious reasons
Starting point is 00:08:15 and like the middle part of the ring spins around yeah so like I actually do sit and play with my rings when I think about it but you don't need to like the purpose is that you can sit and spin that well I got it sold to me by two reasons one they said it's great for nail biting didn't help and two they said it's good for people with an erratic brain ADHD didn't help but what I was always say it does actually, it is nice to fidget with it, to be fair. But yeah, this is a nice one, it's like silver and gold.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I never normally have that together, but it looks cute. I actually like silver and gold together. I just think it's quite hard to make it work. Yeah. It used to be like the right pieces together. Do you know what I mean? So that's a nice little shout out there. Orly, Rialta and Bold. I'm in my book girl era. Also, I've just realized it's not called Bold.
Starting point is 00:09:09 It's Bond. Is it? Yeah. B-O-N-D. Bond. James Bond. Why did I think bold? The name's Bond.
Starting point is 00:09:22 James Bond. It's Bond. It's absolutely Bond. We do apologise. We do apologise, yeah. Well, that would make far more sense. You're bonding jewellery together, wouldn't it? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:09:33 I don't know where we get bold time. It's actually right next to where the morning glory was, Five March's Breakfast Place, So we just shut down now. How sad is that? Is it? Yeah. Next to loop and scoop.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Supposed by that. And when we were in there, by the way, in Bond, it was a beauty salon. It had, like, did eyebrows. Neils. Nails, everything in there. And she actually said that the jewelry aspect of the business is now far busier than anything else. So yeah, definitely check that out.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Anyway, I'm in a book girl era. I'm trying to get into it, and I'm starting to read The Silent Patient. And I obviously haven't read it all yet. but I love a thriller like a who done it and I posted it on my story of the day and the amount of messages that I've said you know one of those books where you read it
Starting point is 00:10:18 and you think halfway through you kind of know who it could be every single message said you will never ever ever ever get that twist of who it is you will be in shock right so I can't wait that's quite exciting then
Starting point is 00:10:33 I'm nodding along saying yeah I know that feeling but you said you need to read a book so please read everyone I'm getting Seven husbands I'm thick as pig shit now Because you need to read And I wasn't thick when I was younger Yeah but I'm still thick as pig shit
Starting point is 00:10:49 I know but some things can't be fixed Yeah Some things can't so we can attempt To become unthick I'll read that I'll read that book when you're finished with it No you need to read Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Starting point is 00:11:07 But I want a physical book I have it. I thought you gave it to someone. Oh, maybe I gave it to my mum actually, yeah. Anyway. Anyway, you need to... That is a great book just to start because it's just so wonderful.
Starting point is 00:11:18 No, what I was going to say about your book situation which triggered someone like me is why you two on the go at the one time. Well, do you know what was funny? The irony of it was, the one book I was reading was called hyperfocus.
Starting point is 00:11:30 I know that. And the fact that I can't hyperfocus. I felt like I needed... You were in the bath and you had both books. No, I didn't. No, that's not true. No, I never.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Right. I was reading a silent patient. When I'm wanting to feel a little bit like I want to have a bit of self-help and reading hyperfocus, when I want a little down times before I go to sleep, who wants to read a self-help book at 10pm? No one. And if you do, I'm sorry, that's strange. I know because I would jump out my bed and be wanting to, like, clear my wardrobe out.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Yeah, do you know what I mean? I think you need to wind down to something that's going to set your imagination off for some wonderful dreams. Right now, I wind down to TikTok. Why did you all make me go on TikTok? I can't wait for you to get over that because I'm, I'm, done with TikTok at a minute. At the moment I open the app, my life is done for.
Starting point is 00:12:14 And I'm buying the shit that I don't need. Delete the app, everyone. Right, well, I'll join the book journey but I want to read the one that you've finished reading because then that I motivate you to finish it and then it won't meet me to finish it so we can discuss it and then we can have
Starting point is 00:12:29 a two-person book club. Yeah, that's a good idea. That's actually a good idea. But you do actually need to read it? It's kind of required to have a book club. No, I will, I'm waiting on you finishing So the pressures are actually We're waiting on you to finish you at him
Starting point is 00:12:46 All right, fine, fine, fine, fine, fine, okay, so update I still love the VIV I said on last week's episode That I was trying, it was the first time I tried it I am obsessed with that VIV, Noverglow highlighter It is taking over iconic I can't believe those words have ever left your mouth I can't believe iconic London have never wanted to work with me
Starting point is 00:13:04 And I have raved about them for years Well, they can fuck themselves now because I'm on the V-Py pipe. But, yeah, so I love it so much. Nova Glow and Shade Holy Sheik. I also thought I would shout out again because I tanned for my birthday and then I tanned again for Dublin.
Starting point is 00:13:21 And I'm not really a serial tanner like some of our friends. Are you a serial tanner still now you don't work for? Yeah. You are. I really, really, really love that express moose, Zoe. No, I do. It is so good. That's what I use now as well.
Starting point is 00:13:35 The I'll pee yellow bottle express mousse. And can I just say, when I first used it, I still slept in it because that's just what I'm used to. For your birthday night out, actually it was, I only left it on for maybe like a few hours during the day, washed it off and I was tanned. And you still get darker though, that's the thing with it when you wash it off. Always still use the water for my face.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Like, that is another Holy Grail. Like, the day that I stopped using Isle of Paradise Green Water for my face is going to be as shocking as the day I stopped using iconic London. Okay. I don't think that will ever happen. but stranger things have happened they have so the water for your face in your hands
Starting point is 00:14:13 unbeaten in my opinion wait so when you use the express mousse you're still putting water on your hands yeah I don't yeah I just I still do the wrist my palms wipe that all off wash my hands and then I just spritz like a claw on my hands no I don't brush no
Starting point is 00:14:27 you just fritz in the hands no nothing else nope wiping between my fingers I feel like as long as I have I have worn fake tan honestly since I been about 1314, I'm not exaggerating here. When you choose Athabasca University's online MBA program, you'll get more.

Starting point is 00:15:20 And even though I then worked at a fake tanning company for four years and heard all the taps, watched all the videos, actually briefed people on the videos, I still can't get the hand right. Your hands always look nice. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes or not. It's a complete hit and I miss, and that's what annoys me. Why does it work sometimes not others?
Starting point is 00:15:37 I know. Do you know what I mean? Maybe it's like the prepped part of it. I think it is also just dependent on, yeah, you might moisturise your hands every time before you do it, but your hands could be drier this week. So that layer of moisturiser isn't doing the same job as it did last week and your hands weren't dry. It must be something to do with that. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Maybe. I would say I'm a serial tanner from, I would say, at this point in the year. Yeah. Until summer. Yeah. Until I'm going on some holidays. I'm a serial tanner, but when I'm in holidays, I'm a natural tanner. Have you had your Botox done recently?
Starting point is 00:16:07 No. Your head, forehead looks gorgeous. Move for your eyebrows? Wow. That's nice, isn't it? Anyway, yeah, I would recommend that product as well, actually. I also really love the, I've said it a load of times, but the ameliorate mitt to scrub with the ameliorate body scrub.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Also, the Iska salt scrub was great as well, to get rid of the tan, to prep for the tan. One thing I also say as well about the expressman. see considering it's a guide colour so it comes out dark yeah which I actually don't like usually but I do yeah I agree I actually think I get a better
Starting point is 00:16:45 I hate to admit it because I was a clear tanner or a gradual tanner for all those years I worked there but you get a better application for that because you can see it yeah it's true especially if you are using it on your hands or like your feet or whatever because you know you've not went overboard anyway even though that's brown and quite intense
Starting point is 00:17:03 colour, like you're going quite dark compared to a natural colour for most people. It doesn't come off scaly for me at all. Only around my boob area, I find it goes a little bit. With your barma, maybe rubbs. Yeah, same. But I don't get, like, I could actually not scrub my legs.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Like, tiger bread. Until the next time I'm putting tan on. Like, within a week, it's kind of died down enough. I would probably scrub just for, like, a new, a fresh application, but... That's why I like using ameliorate body cream because it is a gentle expoliator.
Starting point is 00:17:30 That's what it is. Yeah, so it breaks it down a bit. Yeah. And also we spoke about that rose and caramel Which people have said is unbelievable by the way But a professional tanning artist Who I got a spray tan from in September Yeah
Starting point is 00:17:44 Tan with Sam, we plug for her there And message me saying Do not use that Why? Because it's kitchen cleaning in it partly Yeah Like it's actually got Bleach Like a what would you call that
Starting point is 00:18:00 like a very potent cleaner in it anti-back yep and that's why you literally can put a bit of it on dry skin to wipe it off and the tans off
Starting point is 00:18:12 that will really damage your skin barrier wouldn't it? I think that'll kind of irritate your skin yeah but I'm sure someone messaged in that as well saying something about that but I did think I mean one it makes sense
Starting point is 00:18:25 because back the day people did wash with bleach to get their tan off that was a thing and I would use like See when you used to use that Those shit tans that you really wear Tiger Red Lutcher the next day
Starting point is 00:18:37 Sabar it's. Even like roads of them like just the way they were back in day You would use anything to get it off Because it was a nightmare Yeah So if you love that, great But just be aware of that Make sure you don't get in your eyes on it
Starting point is 00:18:50 And quite dangerous Very dangerous I've got another little shout out So there's another podcast that I love listening to Nip Tuck not giving a fuck it is the host are Ashley and Lauren if you listen to them you'll know
Starting point is 00:19:04 they're so funny I love them so much but Ashley is very into skincare self care everything organic she's very knowledgeable with stuff like that but the other week she was talking about tampons and they were talking about the whole thing
Starting point is 00:19:21 with toxic shock and what actually means and why you should never use like supersized tampons it's not good for you to have that in you for that length of time especially you the tampons that like the mainstream ones that you get like tampacks they are on organic cotton they're bleached so you're actually putting bleached non-organic cotton inside you for that length of time like it's actually not good for you as a woman no one do you don't get you an infection every day of my life there's not a lot more into it than that i mean i'm not educated around this
Starting point is 00:19:46 whatsoever but she was just basically saying that you need to just be more aware of what you are putting in your body and as women we aren't really thought of in terms of these sort of things but there's not many organic tampons out there on the market especially because they're expensive to manufacture and make that's why companies don't do it because women you don't want to be spending £10 a box of tampons we can't help it we have to buy them every single month because we just fucking have to deal with as a woman
Starting point is 00:20:11 but Sainsbury's have are probably one of the only supermarkets that have bought out their own range I believe of organic tampons and yesterday I was at the self-checkout and I thought fuck I need some tampons because I've come on period and I went to the aisle and I saw them there. I think they were called yogi or something. I can't remember you, but you'll see them now.
Starting point is 00:20:30 And, oh my God, they're amazing. You can definitely tell they're a lot more sturdier, and they're in paper. I actually, and it sounds bad, but I do actually prefer the plastic applicators. Not to get in about the details, but it glides up there much easier. It does glide up there a lot easier, and it doesn't, like, the paper
Starting point is 00:20:45 hurts me a little bit. Same. But I thought, you know what? I'm going to be better for the planet, I'm going to be better for my body, and I'm just going to buy them, and yeah, I'm liking them so far. You absolutely go for it, girl. And I thought, why don't put anything up to you that you don't want, honies? It's got to be perfect. True.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Well, and it goes for a lot of things. Exactly. So I just thought I'd give Nip took a little shout out there, but also Sainsbury's for being good eggs. Do you want to talk about Sainsbury's for a minute? Love them. Do you? You can't beat Sainsbury's. Waitrose up there.
Starting point is 00:21:19 But I mean, like, the Sainsbury's experience. Mind, like, we walked in and there was a new light for fruit and very. I was like, wow, wow, that's new. It's, like, really up to its game. And also, the bigger ones, like, we're not talking about your local Sainsby's, we're talking about the big ones. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:35 That I've got all the beauty in there. The beauty section is get all the brands, like, high street brands you need. Yep. I'll Pee, be one of them's in Sainsbrews. Even the home stuff. Habitat is unbeaten. Unbeaten.
Starting point is 00:21:46 And then you get your Argos in there as well if you need something delivered, do you know what I mean? So you have. I think Sainsbury's is great. No of you say no's. I wouldn't buy my full shirt. shop there, don't get me wrong, because it probably has a bit
Starting point is 00:21:56 pacier than... Oh, I would. I'll do. But is it now? Probably not, actually. Everywhere's expensive. Can we just also discuss how expensive Prime Mark is? Why is there a coat in there for 60 quid? Too much. 60 pounds? Everything should be 20 pound or less in there. Agree. Couldn't agree more.
Starting point is 00:22:13 And see no matter how much stuff you take to the till, you should never be spending more than 40 pound. Do you know what I mean? Easily done, though. See if you take 5 things, 40 pounds. See if you take 55, she'd still be 40 pounds. Yeah. Um, another little shout out, because we forgot to speak about this, but when we spoke about chafy, chafy chafing, there was a product that we need to share the link of that are so many people sent in. I think it's called a Lanarkin or something. It is lanakane anti-chaping gel and you get it off Amazon and it's got 5,500 five star reviews.
Starting point is 00:22:46 It's a unique barrier for against friction, silky finish, non-greasy. I'm going to get that for summer. No, I'm going to be so skinny. I don't need you if you can. Thigh gaps. My thighs will be so far apart that even if I try to touch them, they wouldn't touch. You look like a pair of chopsticks. That's the goal.
Starting point is 00:23:07 What else have we got to shout out? I've not done yet. No, a couple more. I think, oh, my fills are still going strong. I did peel the gel off, but I'm not bit them yet, so the feels are good. Being my fingernails, this is. The sounds are no longer filling.
Starting point is 00:23:23 The fills are not filling. but they're not cats later in either they're still filling I bought myself a new candle Essence of Harris stunning if you've not tried them there are amazing candles
Starting point is 00:23:38 it's actually such a good value for money as well 25 pound or 25 or 28 pounds for the most potent unbelievable smelling candle I actually like their more exclusive range I mean like the darker glass ones I love so much but there's a store next to Space NK in Prince's Square.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I forget that exists all the time, by the way. Yeah. That's a good gift as well, you know. Honestly, get some for Christmas. And then there's a store in Isla Harris. I went to it with my mum. I think we should speak about Princess Square more often as a community. I think Princess Square needs a little bit of a glow-up.
Starting point is 00:24:15 It needs... I do, but I think you forget what's in there. You've got Space NK, which I actually really like now. I feel like when I first started working in beauty I was a bit like I didn't even know that existed like why not just order it online but going in there's an experience and enjoy it then you get Essence of Harris which is really nice
Starting point is 00:24:31 for fragrancies and gifts everything you've got cause you've got the every man's cinema yep a few restaurants need a bit of work but you could you could make something work if you were in there I mean don't need to stay in there for food I don't need to stay in there for food you know I don't think loads of like amazing restaurants down there
Starting point is 00:24:46 and they're band imagine down the bottom bit they had like a live band kind of food stalls more like that kind of thing Yeah, I do think they are getting it be done though I have heard that on the grapevine Interesting Oh, last but not least Thank God for that
Starting point is 00:25:01 Sorry, listen these tips and tricks are good I'm only joking around if you have a car From Arnold Clark Which I feel like every Tom Dick and Harry does Do you G? No Mine doesn't either actually If it's not your car Yes it is
Starting point is 00:25:17 Oh yes so it is Me and Jace and a halfs. You need to download the app because they've started this reward system, points system, think like boots, advantage card. And if you're not utilising your points for all these places you shop, then you should be. That was a leaf I turned a few months back.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Zoe, you took the piss out of me, I swear, of all my wallets. Have you got this, Jay? Your wallet in your iPhone, get them all. I've got literally... Like, Nets and a card, all that show. Mango, Global, H&M, Spaceagate, Harrod's Sparks, Nectar, Club Card, Boots. I'll be honest, I don't think I've ever used a reward card or a...
Starting point is 00:25:55 Jay, I've got £85 on my Boots card. 85 quid, and I'm saving it for a new Boots perfume. Or maybe I'll get Rich as Puffy, Brisbane. No, I know. I've had that slaggy, because you do have a lot on there. Yeah. I've got H-Nem and Boots. What I do, and you get is nectar, because I do actually have... Well, it's actually Jason's, but we've got a nectar card, and I just...
Starting point is 00:26:15 Nah, forget it. Necta's good for petrol, because I went to stains me last night, And that's where I get my petrol. Yeah, and I got my little thing for it. It said three times points when you spend over 25 pound fuel. You're always going to put, well, you should put more than 25 quid in, really. Who knows? You can't be a wee ten or top up here in there.
Starting point is 00:26:32 H&M's a really good points reward system. And if you remember at H&M, you get discount quite a lot. Yeah. And Sparks annoys me, though, because you have to download them onto the, same like, boot. You have to download it onto your card first. And then you get things like free punnet of blue. but you don't get money off with sparks. Yeah, I don't have sparks one actually.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Yeah, it's a bit random. Anyway, what was I actually saying there? Arnold Clark. If you've got on Arnold Clark, download the app. Really simple. And I think last week, I got a free coffee. I think it was Greg's. Greg's coffee, I live next order of Greg.
Starting point is 00:27:06 So perfect. And every single week now, they'll send you like a little or some, well, not every week, or whenever, but you'll get a little thing. Need awards. So I thought that's really good. All you have to be is an Arnold Clark customer. You need to buy anything.
