Starting point is 00:00:00 Happy Friday. How is everyone? How is your week? Did you have a fantastic week? Did you smash it? Did you hit all your goals? So you're ready for the weekend? PMA. Positive, mental. Actually, me, Zoe and Jude have just been having a big chat about fitness, fitness, fitness. Because me and Zoe are on it, which is so funny compared to the last week's episode. where we just completely tainted ourselves apart.
Starting point is 00:00:33 We did, didn't win? It weren't very nice. It wasn't very nice. No, but you know what? Sometimes you need to be hard on yourself. You do? Because something's changed inside me. I am, well, I've said it for weeks
Starting point is 00:00:47 but I'm going to be so fit soon. I'm working on it. No, but even not for like the fitness physical aspect, right? I actually feel in a rock when I'm not doing it because I'm in that flat constantly. See yesterday, out at the gym in the morning.
Starting point is 00:01:04 I had such a productive day. Yeah, you did. And I think it is true, this seasonal disorder as well. Like, it really gets people down. When you wake up, it's dark, you can leave work, it's dark. It's just feel like your days are gone. It's hard. Pend to drag yourself to the gym.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Who can be asked? I know this is such a typical thing to say, right? But it did actually change from one day to the next, and it got dark at 4pm. A literal day? Usually, I think, you can tell, it gets darker a wee bit earlier each day over like a few weeks but then one day it was just like boom
Starting point is 00:01:34 is extreme what is it not when the clock's changed no no gee no I was just about to say there I was just about to say it was before it was the weekend before the clock's changed and I said it's going to be even darker next week when the clocks change it was a very... But yeah that would make sense
Starting point is 00:01:50 it wasn't that no but I do know that that makes that happen right but usually it's still quite a process whereas it is a bit four people PM now is it not? Yeah if that and I just think it was all very dramatic I think it came in fast
Starting point is 00:02:05 we always know when we if we start the 4 o'clock class in here and it's already dark that's when we know it's wintertime yeah that's tough it's so tough but maybe you just don't notice it as much when it's coming down
Starting point is 00:02:16 because we're not in the kind of office environment now you maybe don't notice the process as much whereas we're just noticing when we're sitting in 11 and you're like that well fucking pitch black at sound have you still got one of those lambs Do you use it? No, I never even used it.
Starting point is 00:02:30 I bought it off Amazon when we got a we got a little bonus from when we worked at FBL. We got like a £100 Poucher for doing like 50,000 steps or something in a month. Oh yeah. Step challenges. Yeah, and I bought it off Amazon with that. And never did it.
Starting point is 00:02:44 What they called Sad lamps? Sad lamp, yeah, it's a Phillips one. I think it's good but it's under my bed. I didn't even... You do hear people say that they use that quite a lot. Yeah. I just think in my head I would know it's a lamp. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:55 You would, wouldn't you? I'm not then thinking it's a sunshine drawing. It's not a vitamin D. But going on from the fitness thing, I think this time of year, I always just slump it. I'm like, Christmas comes up,
Starting point is 00:03:07 all these party nights out. You don't mind about extra, something, something on you, you know? But that's where I've gone wrong because then I go into the new year where I'm like,
Starting point is 00:03:16 at my wits end where I'm like, I really feel like shit. You go into the gym, it's rammed, it's packed because everyone's got the same idea. And then you slowly fall off the bandwang and around March, but then March is when you really need to be getting on it
Starting point is 00:03:27 if you want to be really good. For me, it was always June, remember. May June where I wanted to be really good because I went away with Richard. For years, it's been the same stupid cycle. And I know what I'm just thinking is actually the absolute ick to say the same thing over and over again. It is.
Starting point is 00:03:40 So let's just be consistent in the winter. Like, why does every summer come and we're like, why are we in this situation again? Like, that's the kind of people I hate. I am the person that I hate. But I also hate people that constantly talk about how fat they are and how, and I'm just like, right. I am everything that people hate.
Starting point is 00:03:57 it's boring we are all perfect as we are we should be we should be embrace us I think you can be happy with yourself and still want to be better I think we get confused you can be happy yourself and love yourself but always want to be better I would say that is probably more us like we're happy to live our life look not everything's about the way we're looking ever we are quite good they're just not thinking that oh I think we're beautiful I'm not saying I'm not no I know you're just saying I think but we like to I can't wear clothes I don't fit in any clothing
Starting point is 00:04:29 And equally It's good for Your brain It's so good for you It's so good for my productivity levels It's so good for me to get up And just get out and get on it And something's changed in me
Starting point is 00:04:41 The past few weeks I just feel so fantastic You have a positive effect on me Which is always helpful Yes And I think what the good thing is I was saying this either day Weight goals is not my way forward
Starting point is 00:04:52 Performance-based goals Is the way my brain works So if I have something to look forward to or something that I've planned or something that I've booked, let's say I'm like, right, my next challenge is I want to run, this is an example, by the way, this is not it. But I want to run 5K in 25 minutes, let's say. That is far better for me in my head
Starting point is 00:05:10 than saying I want to be 10 stone, 10 and a half stone. Yeah. Right? It just, everything is so wrong with the other thing. Like a weight goal is not going to be make me any happier, but the achievement of achieving something like that and the bonuses of getting to that will probably help you get to that.
Starting point is 00:05:28 Well, say if you think about it this, you're right. Say if your goal is the performance one, trying to get that performance one will provide your weight loss if you're... That's what I'm saying. It works hand in hand. But if you just want, if you're just looking at the weight loss, then you can do anything to get to that.
Starting point is 00:05:44 You're not going to have achieved your performance. Exactly. And when it comes to food, when it comes to food for me, when it comes to food, we all know, I ain't about to pump my food into my fitness pal for the rest of my life I'm not doing it I know it works but it doesn't work for me
Starting point is 00:06:01 I only think it works to get people an idea of what's actually in things because there's things that you I've been getting at all of it now but I kind of have a rough idea about what things do now get knowledge on it isn't it but I would probably have like say half a share bag of chocolate right now
Starting point is 00:06:15 I've got a couple hundred calories but actually it's probably about six seven eight hundred calories and that and if you are trying to lose weight like that as you go and get healthier, then you do need to be aware of these things. So it's quite a good tool for that just to get knowledge, but don't get like... Obsessed with it.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Because then it's not healthy. It's also not accurate either. No. But you know, yeah, definitely what you just said there, if you're looking out at starting to think about what you want to eat, my fitness plan is great to give you the idea of what's in stuff. So you have some sort of summary of what you're consuming every day. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:06:47 That's daph, didn't it? Also, a lot of people need to hit a certain amount of... like calories to get their goals so like if they're bulking or whatever so it's not all about losing it's sometimes about you need to eat more than what you're actually eating yeah so a lot of people don't eat enough
Starting point is 00:07:00 and that's why they don't see a difference guilty of that yeah my mum's guilty of that as well like she doesn't eat anything I don't know why I'm like putting on weight I don't eat anything that's your problem but you're having three glasses of wine
Starting point is 00:07:14 every night three bags of crisps yeah mental but yeah so I've booked high rocks which is hilarious because I spoke about that last week but I was always booking high rocks with my friend Rebecca in April and then I wanted to do Glasgow but geez told me it sold out but you told me to keep looking
Starting point is 00:07:30 so I want to do that one on my own but then I was sitting with Richard at home the day and I said would you ever do a workout with me would you ever do a fitness challenge with me he was like yeah I would do it my fucking shape so I said what do you want to do for your birthday and he went nothing don't want anything so do you want to go somewhere he was like
Starting point is 00:07:49 nah so I thought I'll have a little look on the high rocks website. It's had a little scroll 2nd of December, his birthday. Sweden, Stockholm. We love Stockholm. We went there together for a new year, about four years ago.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Maybe about six years ago actually now. And so I booked it. So I'm doing high rocks with Richard, which is just fucking hilarious because it would be an absolute doddle for him. But I just think it would be something really fun because we've always wanted to do something spontaneous together like a weekend away.
Starting point is 00:08:17 It's his birthday, and I just think it'll be quite interesting. also it wasn't something he was planning on doing so he'll still enjoy the experience of it even if he won't he'll he has to be like do do do do do do I know but that's what I mean like
Starting point is 00:08:31 even though it's not you think it might not be as challenging for him as others would be he'll still enjoy it yeah but my mission is to make it challenging for him I am going to be so fit that I'm going to be like come on mate keep up do you imagine if I actually get on the podium how fucking lulls would that be
Starting point is 00:08:47 I get on there first place do you know what I think he'd be dumped no I'm doing with Richard I know but I think he would just be like how like how's this happen but the funny thing is he's told me now that with high rocks
Starting point is 00:09:02 mixed doubles or whatever I thought it had to be 50 50 but it doesn't but the thing is I want to do it 50 50 no I think you should try our best do it 50 50 and then if you really need to let him do a wee bit more then do it but I think you're fine
Starting point is 00:09:17 because he's like oh if you want to do it if you actually want to do well, like, I'll obviously take off. I'm like, I don't, I'm not doing this to win, mate. I'm doing this because I want to actually do it with you and do it 50-50. Yeah, the mixed doubles is very biased towards the guy. That's just the way it is. Because it's men's weight and stuff. And basically what they do, the guys who just want to win is just get a girl who can run really fast.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Ah, which is not me. Yeah. So then the guy, even the girl who runs really fast, the guy is still not going to be running full speed to keep up with her. So then he's a bit fresh. does all the working stations and basically the girl just needs to sprint the whole time.
Starting point is 00:09:51 But what you should do is do 50-50 and use it as a huge challenge for you and he's going to be your support system to get you through. Yes, that's what I want. Yeah, I think you should do that as well. That's what I want.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I don't want to do it. I don't ever want to do high rocks or anything sort of challenge to be like the best ever. I'm doing it for me. Do you know what I mean? And I think this, as I was saying my performance-based goals
Starting point is 00:10:12 for me to do this in four weeks time. It's a great kickstart for the live show. Me and Zoe obviously want to feel really good in four weeks time because this is actually two days before the live show by the way that I'm going to Stockholm so we want to better be careful by the way oh we're fine I'm no wheeling you about
Starting point is 00:10:27 in that stage imagine being hot wheels hot wheels coming in riding dirty I did actually what I was actually thinking is good for you booking something the fucking two days before our live show
Starting point is 00:10:41 I know let's hope we're organised you know I'll be here good after but I said this to Richard and he said to me and he made a fair point I went, I don't know if I should go away this weekend it is a few days before the live and he went, if you're not organised for the live two days before then you shouldn't be doing it and I thought Fairfox
Starting point is 00:10:55 Oh so we're nearly organised. We are to be fair I'm only taking the pest but actually in a good place So. For once. Yep, that's my That'll keep me going for four weeks in I've got that one Maybe I could do Glasgow if I can get a ticket But my main goal is to be as fit as it fit on in April with my friend Rebecca
Starting point is 00:11:12 So she needs to put a fucking finger out of her ass See, I will do this with you But not do the event All I'm doing is running No, I know But I'll do like The fitness journey I'm joining But I'm just not doing the end
Starting point is 00:11:24 I'm not doing the high rocks Yeah, but you say that Zoe I said that last week Look at me now Imagine Imagine me and Zoe on the podium Fucking good Two and Sammy
Starting point is 00:11:35 Female doubles in Glasgow Fuck you all We're coming for you Weirder things have happened We'd actually do the relay Would be good You would really enjoy that What's that?
Starting point is 00:11:43 so you know there's like eight stations yeah you get a team of four oh and you only do two each so you do a run and a station a run and a station but you pick so you maybe choose to do the row and then the burpees or whatever and then Zoe could do the sled and something else
Starting point is 00:11:59 so of the eight you only do two I would do something like that because you know what puts me off the whole thing and I know that is just because I wouldn't challenge myself enough burpees is just a know from me I really struggle and do you know what I blame my boobs Yeah, but you need a good supportive bra then.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I know, but I just, see when I'm, everything's too, like, I'm too heavy as a person to get back up. Dee, this is all I hear from her. Like, honestly, we're on the treadmill yesterday and it was just like, I can't do it. I'm going to go and do a tactical white tea. She had one banana and spewed it up. Look, you started your journey a week or two before me, right?
Starting point is 00:12:39 So, you know, I know, I'm going to be patient with you because I want you to. Also, you said yesterday, I actually am strong and fit. She is. I just, I am definitely, I do give up easy and I'm not really like that with anything else in my life. But I think fitness is all in your head. But you do need, like we were saying yesterday,
Starting point is 00:12:56 you need to be saying positive things, whereas I'm running like, I would honestly rather break my leg than continue doing this. That's the wrong thoughts. That builds up too. The same way your fitness does, your mental resilience builds up to. Are you going to start doing hierarchs classes, hey, Jay? No.
Starting point is 00:13:12 Oh, yeah? That was a kind of... We'd done them before, we didn't know last year. Did you? Yeah, it just wasn't on your radar at that time. No, it wasn't. Yeah, you weren't. But now I'm the high rock queen, so I should be coming.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Before Glasgow last year, we did them on the run-up on like Sundays. We did high-rox classes. You do see a lot of like gyms in that doing it now. Like, it does seem like it's... Maybe it is because we hear more like through... There's loads doing it. I've saw so many posting about it this week. But I would never have known that was a thing until we started recording with you.
Starting point is 00:13:41 There's a bit of... Some of the gyms, though, they get a bit confused by it because Hirox is, like, see, your main gyms, like your JD's and stuff, they'll put on high rock stuff. Or Hirox as an event, it's not a training methodology. It's not a way of training. It'd also get boring, doing the same fucking eight movements. There's only four movements you can keep doing over and over. To actually train for it, you need to have another way of training. Of strength.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Not just CrossFit. CrossFit, I think, is a great way of doing it, but other ways as well. You need another way of training, and then Hirox is the event, and yeah, you do specific stuff. but it's not a way of training. Yeah, I agree. Because I do feel like I'm pretty strong, like obviously a weight train minimum twice a week. I come to CrossFit now and again.
Starting point is 00:14:21 But for me, my downfall is running under fatigue or doing all that under fatigue. That's where I'm so good at, like, sprinting stuff, but my stamina is so shit. I've got no stamina. And that's like, that all comes up up here. I'm mentally just not there. So I'm going to have to try and also work on PMA.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Positive mental attitude. I'm talking to myself nicely on these things. Said that to you, do not yesterday. Look, you never know next year we could be hosting a fitness retreat instead of a Christmas life, do you know what I mean? You never know what happens in this. What the fuck has happened to Justin's out?
Starting point is 00:14:56 In this life, you just never know. We could be like completely sober, never drink, hosting fitness retreats. Do you know what I'm seeing all over TikTok as well, Jay? Subrietyry, TikToks, people showing day zero to day 700 and they all look unreal. people from day zero from running to marathons
Starting point is 00:15:14 and I'm like I'm so inspired I think we've crossed enough bridges this week I don't want to drink anymore I can't go through this right now I can't go through this right now we're moving on change the topic of conversation Anyway what were we talking about on the bonus
Starting point is 00:15:30 I know none of that was actually planned but I hope you enjoyed it but we're actually going to do a couple of them I hope that's inspired you guys just to do something whether it's fitness or I don't know anything let us know if you have any tips for us I mean I know we know what all the answers are but sometimes I just like to hear some positive messages or people's journeys or whatever
Starting point is 00:15:50 we'd also like to start boxing boxing is like my number one favourite form of fitness ever no same Jay can't you get some boxing bags put a boxing bag off if you want if you'll come in and hit it I'll stick it up I used to love I used to go to a gym called
Starting point is 00:16:07 Cyclebox No you went to that I love that so much. I went to fly. They don't have it now, but they used to have the like glossy black. It's like kind of water in it. Yeah, they're cool. Oh, I loved them.
Starting point is 00:16:19 They stopped doing them now, but. Oh, rather than the bike longer, like harder ones. It was more like a cycle box style stuff. Yeah. I just think it's a shame that's not a thing anymore. I want a proper boxing man to work one-on-one with me so I can do-tut-tut-da-de. And you pan-trained? Listen, I love all different kinds of stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:38 That's why I used to buzz off class pass when I lived in London. them. I did something different every single day. We just don't really have. Well, we probably do. We just don't really know about a lot of classes here, I suppose. We also can't be asked to drive into the West End every day, boring. Anyway, that bonus episode, we were actually meant to speak about a lot on your plates, but we've just decided to offload what's
Starting point is 00:16:53 been a lot on our plate. So you can have that instead. It's better when it's about us, do you know what I mean? And that genuinely just felt like we were just having a chat. Well, I know it always does, but you know what I mean? I think we're actually were. We might regret it when we'll listen back, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Yeah, we will. Sorry, guys. We hope that you enjoy that. I did anyway. As long as we did that, same thing. And we'll see you on Tuesday.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Yeah, remember to send us in any small businesses or gift things that you want to buy. And we can do that next week. Yes, because we'll get ready for you guys to shop for Black Friday. Because by the time the next episode comes out, it'll be Black Friday. The next bonus episode, I mean. God, it comes in, so quick, don't you? Yeah. So send it in. Send us what you want, or send us what's on your Black Friday wish list. So give us some inspiration as well. You can all listen in the morning and get your shopping orders in for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. And remember to shop everything on WeShop as well. I need to remember to do that.
Starting point is 00:17:43 I know me too. I forget every time I order something. And you know what else? It's going to be interesting by the time this episode comes out. I first shop a year ago, as did you. Yeah. Let's see if the money comes into the account like it says it does. I think mine's on like the first week of December or something like that.
Starting point is 00:17:59 So it's approaching fast. Yeah. This is not an ad, by the way. This is legit. We want to know if we're getting that big lump sum of money that it says we've got. And we'll see how difficult it is to actually retrieve the cash because they say you need to get somebody to get stocks and shares. I think that must be all the show, but we'll see you.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Anyway, we'll let you know. Right, we'll see you on Tuesday. See you on Tuesday. Thanks. Bye!
