A More Civilized Age: A Star Wars Podcast - 00: Igniting the Engine

Hey everyone! This is just a brief placeholder episode meant to seed the feed over on the various podcast services. Stay tuned for our first full ep on December 23rd!

Hello, and welcome to the first episode. That's not true at all. Welcome to a placeholder episode of a more civilized age, a Clone Wars podcast that I, Austin Walker, will not be hosting, but will be joining our regular host, Rob Zackney, on for the foreseeable future. Also joining us will be Natalie Watson and Alicia Akampora as we dive through the holocrons into the history of the late days of the Galactic Republic by watching first the two of the three prequel movies,

then a whole lot of clone wars, and we'll see where it goes from then. If you're wondering why there is a minute-long episode that will probably be replaced in the long run in this feed, it is so that we could submit it in time to make it onto the Apple podcast feed before the holidays, before they all close up for the holidays. We were submitting that early and getting that up,

running. We will have more in the foreseeable future. I think right now December 23rd will be our first actual episode. Then we're going to do one more the week after. Those two episodes will be on the prequel films, Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. And then from there, we're going to move over to the Clone Wars and start with a Clone Wars film and then go through the series. We have a lot to get through, but our current plan is basically to do every other week once we get to our normal schedule. But we wanted to end the year with kind of a big one-to-punch. So look forward to that.

A couple other quick notes. We will not have any sort of music, I think, probably for the first episode, but we do have music coming, which is exciting. We don't have a Patreon set up yet because it turns out that you need to. And we all knew this, because multiple people on this podcast have other, you know, patrons, you need like a business to do that because Patreon is like, well, who gets this money? Show us the paperwork.

So we're getting all that stuff done But we do want you to be able to support the show And that means a lot to us Because we know people have already told us That they would want to support us If we did something like this So we wanted to make sure that that was something We could do close to launch

So look forward to that in January And then beyond that I think the big stuff is Oh, the last thing If you would like to submit questions For a bonus episode And the first of these I think will come out In the first week of January

And that'll be free to everybody Because the Patreon won't be up by then, but if you want to submit questions to a Q&A episode about the first two prequel films, you can send those to a more civilized age at gmail.com. You know, I hope it's clear that when we say a more civilized age, what we're doing is referencing the Obi-1 Kenobi, the Ben Kenobi quote from a New Hope, with a great deal of kind of sardonic kind of arch tone. Was it a more civilized age, Ben?

Were things better back then? Let's watch to find out what happens, I suppose. So yeah, I'm going to upload this, and you'll hear from us soon. I don't have like a closer. I don't have like let the force be with it because we just started the show. And I don't think like if you did one of those now, you don't, I wouldn't want to bank on it. You know, and also it's not my show. I'm not hosting it, so I can't do the outro thing.
