Or that there are tensions between the indigenous population of the planet and human colonizers? What if I told you that a giant desert creature was a major threat? Grimy cantina with weirdos in it? To be back. Bro. I miss her. So this week, the Bastilla gang goes to tattooing discovers. Yep. It's tattooing. In fact, it is a bit like Galaxy's Edge where the whole tattooing experience is squeezed into a few acres of sand and stone. Sand people.

they're raiding ain't tuskins though because fort tuscan has not been built yet that's right huts they're organizing races like like always crate dragons they're in their caves and javas just want to do deals did you do any deals with the javas is anybody deal with the javas oh yeah i did him a solid yeah yeah yeah it's a kind of right right it really is like a yeah yeah do you want me i'm going to the store do you want me to pick you up anything Yeah, pick up my boys for me. Okay, yeah, I got you, I got you, I got you. Yeah, so Tatooine is, it really is a condensed experience of Tatooine. It also provides some canon explanation for, hey, why is Tatooine always like this, no matter where we show up in Star Wars history?

And apparently people at BioWare noticed and built in some explanations for how Tatooine is a place where the cycles of history just keep unfolding forever. You know, there's, there's a lot that happens. Where do we want to begin? Because I will say this, I do not feel like there's a through line to Tatooine so much as there's a bunch of adjacent, like, things happening. The short version of Tatooine, if you're just doing the main plot, is like, show up, ask around about who knows anything about where a star map could be. You eventually find out that, like, the only way to get anything done here is to try to get to a conclusion to the fact that there are sand people race. on the planet or on on the the the zirka corporations mining uh uh you know sand crawler and

all of their there and on anchorhead itself deal with that and the way that you end up dealing with that depending on if you negotiate your way through through a peace settlement or i guess kill all of them uh and along the way learn and get access to getting to the place where the star map is which is just like another little map area wildly underwhelming yeah that final zone you go in there and it's like there's a zone you can't go to until you you get a map to get there. It's like, oh, it's just, it's too dangerous to get. You can't just walk out into the sand.

What are you thinking? And you get there and it's like nothing. It's literally a cave. That's why I got that message. I was like, which one? Oh, like trying to go there from the southern. Yeah, it was like, it would be, it would be ludicrous. It would be, you know.

Yes. It's like, the star map is so well hidden. It's like back issues of like jugs and Playboy in the woods, right? It's like basically, right? Like basically, like, nobody has ever seen this in 10,000 years. Well, like, what's funny is the Java is like, yeah, I know where that is. Yeah, it's just up in the, it's in the cave. Yeah, he's like, StarForge, uh-huh, yeah.

I'm like, oh, so you just know about the most powerful piece of jigsaw puzzle mapperi that's out there waiting, like, what? I mean, like, this is, this whole episode, this whole planet is like last samurai dances with wolves like the non-human species all got it right you know what I mean there's like a little noble savagery type shit happening like that's kind of what the tattooing experience is but they do know about where the star forge map is oh they do you know and they do know what actually happened on tattooing though trust indigenous voices you know like it's true it's true actually we should talk about before we even get off the ship though did we talk about

the little stowaway thing last time we didn't talk about the stowaway so we didn't you get two barrels Did we talk about the thing that you see when you first leave Dantuin, which was Malik and Saul talking about Carth and them hiring someone. No, we need to talk about that. And them hiring someone to come get us. Yeah. Talonord lives, everybody. For at least four hours of gaming time.

I'll tell you, he's suddenly seen less cool. When you first meet him, Antares, one, two. But the third time he does that little shit. It's less impressive. It's like, oh, you're just a little dweeb. He doesn't even bust it out. Two. He doesn't even bust it out in the final confrontation with him. He's just punk. He knows he's done. Yeah. He's got a stupid little hat. Like he doesn't have sick armor. He never wears. You try on the armor he dropped? I feel like he I feel like he was wearing given how that fight went or the three or four times that fight went. He is

Mandalorian. He is custom. Mandalorian armor that he made that he had made custom for himself and then he killed. I killed the guy who made it so no one else could get a copy of it per the item description. I put that shit right on Canderus. Canderus is walking that now. That dude has so many NFTs. Oh, for sure. For sure, for sure.

He took his locker to his grave. Yeah, he forgot the code. He's the dude who forgot the code to his Bitcoin locker and he won't let anybody try to help him open it. So, yeah, we do discover he's like he somehow survived the, uh, destruction of Taurus and Davick's base. And he shows up and he's like, I can tell you all about what the Jedi are up to. And I don't know, it's like, it's Malik just treats him with barely concealed impatience.

But yeah, so you know he's out there. And then it is one damn thing after another aboard your ship. So you're just trying to get to attach. when you're just trying to, like, maybe leave the ship and somebody interrupts you as you're leaving. I think it's, I think it's, uh, big Z, right? And he's like, the food's getting eaten. And I'm like, this isn't that kind of game.

I don't need, I don't worry about food. I don't know, like, what you expect me to be counting steel rations? Yeah, what if you added a new bar, your hunger meter? I thought for it. You're out of the tutorial now. I would love that. Top up in your blue milk. The title drop drops now.

Yeah. It's like, welcome the Kodor. See, that's if they made it today. If they made it today, it would be a build, survive game. You'd have to, you'd have to punch trees. Oh, what are you going to feed your party tonight for buffs tomorrow? That sounds good, actually. That sounds great.

But then they'd write some fucking lines for Big Z. They bet they would. He'd be like, oh, yeah, this roast duck is real good. Thanks. Cooking mini game. Cooking mini game. I mean, here's the fucked up thing is like, we were about to talk about an event on the ship. And you're about to talk about, like,

there are multiple events on the ship, presumably, because I bet the other thing happened to you also while you're in the tattooing docking bay. You got someone who ran up and was like, sign for these, please. Did you get that happening to? Okay. You know what game has a spaceship and no events happen on the spaceship? Starfield. Fucking, what are we doing? How do you make a game that's all about you get a custom spaceship? And we don't have team meetings on the spaceship. I don't run around the spaceship to talk to my boys. We don't have, we never have stowaways, which is what you're leaving. leading to. It's just the cutest little stow away. It's just you like the bin where it's like you hear

footsteps behind you and you're like trying to track down where she was. That was cute. That was really fun. I thought I had to like, uh, I thought I had to find like a flashlight or something. I was I was so confused as to why. I build the little rabbit trap with the stick in the box. Yeah. Once you go all over the ship and get all the like you hear rushing footsteps and nope, not in here, not near, eventually you find, you go back into the hold and you start inspecting all the crates that have been cracked open and a little waif pops out. And you're like, what are you doing here, a little waif? And she's like, swoobooly. And yeah, you should be saying it like that. And there ensues a long, you know, basically a forerunner. Wait, did you

try talking to anybody on the ship about, hey. I talked to everyone on the ship. So I don't know talking about the stow way and everyone's like can't help you bro sorry man you got nothing to say about this the fact that canters i thought the natural like what they were leading to because it it it's revealed that this the stow way is speaking like a kind of language that's like somewhat related to it's like pigeon mandolarian yeah so i figured i i waited a while before asking around like who could help me. And I was like, oh, it's naturally Canderous. When you go up to Cander's, Canderers is like, not my fucking problem.

I was like, well, I don't know what I expected to be honest, because why would I have thought that Canderers would have given one shit about a kid, a child, on our ship? Everybody want to be on the ship until it's chore assignment day.

Really? You know? Somehow everyone has the day off when the chore wheel comes out and it's time to check the rations and sorry chief I got to bank my grenades and it's everyone it's not like candorous is the person

who talks about the stowaway and big z talks about the ginkas it's nobody gives a shit and everybody gets the dialogue option and every single time they're just like this has nothing to do with me do you think there was a situation where there was originally a plan to like let people help with these these quests

and then, like, they couldn't do it in time. And so they, like, I guess just put in, I can't help you with that, bro. Maybe. I guess so. There is a lot of, like, speaking of this planet, there is some dialogue on it that implies some stuff, and then you can't go do it. Like a swoop bike upgrading.

They're sad people, but the reason that we call them Tuscan Raiders is because At a point in time that has not happened yet, they will attack a place called Fort Tuscan. They raid Fort Tuscan so that then become Tuscan Raiders, which is why despite it all, Sand People is maybe the less shitty version of a name for them as people. Because at least it's not tied to like, they killed a bunch of settlers. At one point in my notes, I started not, I stopped writing Sand People and I started writing Tuscan Raiders because it's like, this feels so bad.

I don't want to write sand people anymore. It's so bad. Now I'm like, fuck. Yeah. There's not ever, I think, I don't know that there's ever a given. You would think that Boba Het, the Boba Fett show. Boba Head. Boba Fett show would have a.

It's like guess sand people could theoretically be that. But it sucks to read over and over again. Yeah, it really does. You know how sucks to read is the little nonsense language.

Your little stow way. What's her name, Sasha? Is that her name? I think so. Yeah. And you got to play this little like shitty twine game. It is a twine game. You keep, look, they're predicting, like, a ton of, like, innovations and narrative design that are coming.

Because you just got to keep mapping out, you learning her language. Yeah. By just... So, she says, like, so for instance, she will say something to you where she goes, Sasha not Isawan in Bristag. Bristag, me, Leifah. And then you have a set of options. They're like, a lot of those words sound kind of mandolour.

Or you can be like, Bristag, what's that? Or Leifah, everything is safe? Is that it? Does Leesfa means safe? And you just do that with every single word she says. Yeah. And then eventually. And then you've learned the language and you can communicate.

And eventually you can. And you learn, she's got to go back to Dantuin. Yeah. Like all this is the most obvious thing is like, it's a fucking kid who hopped on your ship with Dantuin. I thought, so I found her in. immediately was like, oh, this is the kid from Dantween. Let me go back and talk to this. I never found a kidnapping quest out in that world.

Well, there's the guy out front who's like, uh, I'm looking for this kid. Have you seen this kid? And so I went back and talked to him. And he was like, do you think it's her? And I'm like, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's her. And he's like, all right, come let me know when you know it's her. Oh, so you still have. I'll go and go back and finish this.

Can you walk up that ramp? Can you just walk up the ramp 20 feet away? Nah, man. And I got to stay here in case somebody comes and they know about this kid. I can't. I can't really come. Exactly. He's so weird about it that like by the end, I'm like.

I feel like I'm giving her to not. Me too. Yeah. Not her parents. It's like I just trained her danger to this kid. Yeah. It doesn't feel good. It feels like you really have to convince her to go.

Yeah. She wants to hang. She's like, your ship is my home now, which is like, is it, you've been here for three days. Like, maybe not even. So, like, maybe that was a little too much. But, you know, I don't know. We have a little mascot on the ship. Yeah, I was like, fucking come hang.

The ginkas, you can take care of the ginkas. You can clean their cages and pick up their poop and pet them and stuff. So that's the next thing that happens. You take 10 steps outside the ship once you've dealt with the stowaway. And the guy's like, yeah, you're going to even sign for your ginka? Am I what now? It's like, sorry, they got loose during delivery. And I don't have my clipboard.

But look, I'm not taking them back. Good luck. Have fun, asshole. And if you go back aboard the ship, there's these adorable little critters running around. They don't seem to be doing any harm. And so I'm like, do I have to kill the Ginka? Do I have to kill the Ginka? Do you want to know?

I haven't yet. I haven't. I got a surprising amount of experience for killing the Ginka. You need a lot of experience for killing the Gizkas, by the way. Gizkas, whatever. Gizkas. Yeah. You don't have to kill the Giskas.

You don't have to. The man, the little double man with the little guy riding. Yeah, we got another one of those guys. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's the merchant at the docking bay. He's selling the poison. Gisca poison, 350. You know how much money I made?

350 is not. Yeah, it's a bargain. I haven't in my inventory. I just can't. He's waiting for it. So when I realized, sorry, when I started playing the session again, my last, before we wrapped up last time, I had this late night session on Dan Tawain. Yeah. Where I entered a few states and I played a lot of, uh, Pazock.

Yeah. And I lost big. Oh, no. And then I started chasing my losses. No, Rob. No. You got to save after every match. No.

No. Why do you save? Because it was late. I was tired. And I'd done some other stuff. I wandered off after being like, well, I'm broke. That's okay. And I wandered off and did some stuff.

If you complete the swoop races, you can make like 20 G's. So simply make complete the swoop races. Our friend Keith Carbriks sent some very good advice that did get me back in. And also I finally like realized that you can buy somebody to earn Pazak cards. You can. And really you just need the plus ones minus ones. You just need the plus one minus one. The most valuable card.

Just buy it. Just buy it. And then just like, you know, play the odds. But anyway. So I kind of went, I kind of arrived on Tatooine, having been busted on, uh, Dantuin. And so I didn't have 350. Oh, so you just had the Giscus. I just had Giscus.

And then it was like, um, no, sorry. I did have 350, but I didn't talk to those guys first because I, what I had was 5.50. And you walked through the gate into town. Uh-huh. Oh, yes. And like every 20 steps, you're running a little pathetic person and the, galaxy, uh, in this game. You trip over a widow.

Yeah. And she's like, okay, first of all, this is like, I may have done something evil here, but not on purpose. It's like, is this even a widow? This is like someone you run into at the train station. Yeah. Who's like, will you please buy my raid, uh, skeleton crest thing? Yeah.

My husband, he, he died hunting this. I promise it's worth $500 and my children who are not here we all need this and I need it so I can take a bus out of town that ticket costs 400 credits but of course meals for my kids both cost 50 credits so I do 500

but I swear this is worth it and so you're just like yeah Shirino Fizark widow to a hunter who died hunting or I guess it's not clear if he died hunting this thing he must have gotten back to give it to

because I did this for it on that I did the same thing Austin I took half her money and went and sold it she didn't work for that you know I didn't I don't see the kids yeah what you want where those kids show me the kids you got a photo so if you're going to sell it So you got to have the hunting license. The whole thing is controlled by Zirka Corp. Right. And when you go in to meet the hunters, the, the dude running sort of the hunting lodge tells you he can't buy, you can't do any transactions until you get it.

Until you're basically like bonded by the company. Right. You also chat up. Which that's the state of the things here, right? Anchorhead is a Zerker Corp mining expedition that has kind of gone belly up. It did not pan out. They did not find what they thought they would find here. Right.

You get the full briefing from, like, the customs officer you meet at the end of your gangway. He gives you a good bit of background here, which is like, so they all thought that it was, wow, this is just free land. Nobody's, nobody's been here, nobody's claimed it. And early surveys are like, there's metal. We'll just, we'll just strip mine this planet. And something's weird with the metal. I'm curious if they were going to explain this. The metal, like, turns to shit.

Yeah. It breaks apart. It's not good metal, actually. It's probably just shitty from the old settlers. Like, the thing that you learn about tattooing, and we can go more into depth when we talk about the sand people and stuff, is that, like, tattooing has been settled over and over and over and over and over again, and the only living beings, sentient beings,

are the Jawa's and the sand people that have kind of seen Tatooine through time. Through all of time and over and over again they've seen people come through resettle it It gets wiped out so I imagine that the metal that CircuCorp is pulling up is like shitty old Machines and stuff like that that from previous Settling there's that great line that is it is the same is he the the guy the Oh the Aziz is his name where he's like you know At some point you're like you're like you're like you're like like, you know, what do you, I think he's like, how do you even know about this or something

like that about the, where the star map might be? And he's like, listen, man, here's how it's going to go. Like, you're, these, the people who are here now are going to leave. We're going to, we're going to collect their stuff and we're going to sell it to the people who come next. And some of it's going to get lost in the sand. And then we will trade it to the next people who come. Long have we scavenged among you and those who've come before. We have things that you will like for this service. Like, we have scavenged this place over and over again. This is the cycle continues even though he calls anchorhead a place named and named again you come to dig but it was already dug settled over and over also long ago ships fell after battles above

now we scavenged the pieces like he's spitting aziz ziz is all right ziz why can't we get a ziz in the party i would love to have a job on the party please please come see the world his skill set seems very undefined. No, he can do the trading for us. He can cut the deals.

Yeah. And shoot. I think Dupz already has the trading stats, charisma up on the way. But I bet he's like, you know,

repair high and slicing and stuff. Oh. He just goes out and finds like stuff for you. Yeah. That happens in the,

in the MMO. You can put your people on things like go get me some cool parts to make stuff with and they don't have like different jobs what they can go do anyway so if you run down to the zirka offices uh you wander into the middle of an angry conversation between the local function area for the zirka corp and okay when uh he's like a cadbane species right these little

dudes he's a doros yeah i think so durose yeah yeah and he's there saying like you can't do this You can't just wipe out a village. And the Zerka corpse, like, yeah, we can. See a, and on his way out, he tells you, don't believe a word these people tell you. What they tell you is, one, they're not issuing hunting licenses anymore, which seems like a good decision because, as they point out, it's gotten, it's turned a real amateur hour out there. And they're, the hunters just going outside the walls and are getting instantly killed by whatever they find out there. So they've stopped doing it. But maybe they will give you a hunting license

if you will go deal with the sand people and particularly like wipe out this one tribe that's been hitting their sand crawlers. That's basically it. Like you can go out, you can go talk to the Duro some minute later and he's like, I think there's a peaceful resolution. And he lays out the steps of the quest.

He's like, admittedly, it's very hard. Like nobody knows how to talk to the same. sand people, like there's civilization, but there's been no communication. It's all just violence and raids. And he, you know, he's very sensitive to the entire thing. Like, imagine

it from their point of view. They're being invaded by by a hostile power. They don't understand. If only we could find a translator droid, not a protocol droid. A translator droid. They could let us communicate. But of course you'd have to get out there. So you'd probably need sand people costumes.

Can't go buy those. So you would probably, you can get it off some of the sand people you might find out in the Dune C. How would we find them? Well, we'll kill them. We'll kill them. They'll try to kill you first, so it's fine.

So it's fine. Don't worry about it. The way a lot of this gets talked about is so funny because it is like Baby's first colonialism. Like, it's not even that. It's actually written, I guess, actually, let's bracket this

and say more broad. broadly, you get a tattooing, and maybe this is only true for me because I'm still kind of gray morally right now. I'm not leaning blue. Maybe this is the case. But like, you can start to get some real asshole responses, generally speaking, throughout tattooing, where you can, in the middle of conversation with randos, be like, give me your money. How don't you give me your money? Yeah, what the hell? How about you give me everything you got? I'm going to run those pockets. Like, it is on in terms of you can be as evil as you want to be now. But in general, the way that this is being written is like you obviously hate the sand people. Like obviously they are

monstrous raiders first and foremost and like sort of people. They're kind of people shaped is the way the like the tone of everything here is written. Like you to get your hunting license have to agree to basically go take their gaffy sticks and turn them in like scalps, right? Like that is what it is evoking explicitly is scalping. And like the, the, the, the thing that, like, it's written as if that's not a big deal, which is actually kind of a weird achievement to not make your, like, the Zirko functionary who's telling you this is not twirling her evil mustache. She is like, and you can turn these in, I'll give me a couple hundred bucks for them,

you know, which is like, it's the course of, it's the, it's the order of business. You know what I mean? This is just what we do here. But like, it's so funny in the way that when it slowly unfolds that you could talk your way through this entire thing. the whole thing feels like the writers felt it was a novel way to portray the situation on tattooing, you know, which I guess inside of Star Wars, it kind of is. It's just that we all knew better. I don't know, but the time I played this game, I'd already been like, eh, sand people feels bad. But it really emphasizes that this is a world where humans are fucking in charge. Like under the world, the rule of the Sith, this is a human's galaxy and everybody else is second place, if that, you know? Yeah. But at the same time, if you want any useful information, the people, the people, you know, the people that you need to talk to are the, like, people, the indigenous people of this world.

That is the, those are the only people that are going to give you the information that you need, that we need for our quest in order to continue playing this game. And so you have to, you pass checks at like nine, you know, 12, 15, and 17 or something like that in order to restore function. to him and get a story about each of his previous masters in a lineage, basically. It's like, who is your previous master? Who is your master before that? Who is your master before that? How far back can you remember? And each time you get a little bit of a buff for him. So it's like you get plus two to dexterity twice. Like the first one you get is plus two. The last one you get is plus two. Then you also get a plus two to defense and then a total of plus two to regeneration. There's two fights in this game. that I remember as a kid beating via mines. One of them was Bend-Dak Star Killer,

and the other one is the final boss of the game. And I literally did that at the time by putting on super speed, running faster than the boss could, and dropping mines in front of it. And it's a fight where that makes sense for reasons we can't get into quite yet. Right.

So like that might be the most XP you can get, you know, point for point, but it's worth all that. You know what I mean? I don't know. What it's worth doing is I did the puzzles and got and got a bunch of XP from that. So 400 XP for that. I don't even know what he gave me as a reward. 400 XP and the, um, the thermal detonator, which I used to basically instant kill Calenord. Oh, okay. I should have done that. Yeah. Oh, I think one of my dumbass, uh, partners use the thermal detonator randomly before I had a chance to use it. Because there's a point where I saw HK fling something and then like everything died. Yep. And I was like, uh, where my grenades go?

Probably the thermal detonator. Let me tell you. 60 damage on that thing. Garbage. If they pass the reflex saved, they still take 30 damage. So, very good. Contrast that with the plasma grenade that is 36 damage. So it's like twice as much.

Anyway. So you go through all the duncy. You get your, you get your sand people outfits. And I guess if you're not Natalie, you are ready to do the quest the way the game basically tells you to do the quest. No, I did it that way. Yeah, Natalie rapped back around. And there's some turrets set up And they will fucking kill you If you're not in the disguise But you go inside And what's supposed to happen is A guy supposed to see through your costume Your disguise and be like, wait a second What the fuck are you doing here?

And you can be like, oh peace, peace, peace, piece, peace I just want to talk to your guy And then he'll lead you to the chief to talk But there's a real bug And there's a couple ways the bug can trigger one of them is if you've saved and loaded the save after you've put the disguise on one of them is if you've gone back to the Evan Hawk

in the disguise and come back there's like all sorts of ways it can forget that you're in the disguise in which case if you talk to anyone that might be it too sure it like corrupts like if you reload it'll still think people will still be agro even if you have a previous save

and you talk to someone it'll bug the save the previous save it's wild because I didn't it right the first time. Then y'all were talking about how it wasn't working. I was like, what are you talking about? It's not working. So I, like, loaded my save and then, and couldn't get it to work then. But I'd loaded the save. And so it, so what I ended up doing is going back to the Eben Hawk and then coming back and then quickly hitting pause and putting on the outfit again.

And that worked. And so I was able to approach it and go inside and get led to the chief. And the chief is like, you suck. You're, but okay, but you're not killing all my people. But some other factors are forcing our hand here, which is that like he is the, he is trying, he's more like a park ranger in some ways than just a hunter where he's like the problem is things have fallen out of balance uh like the bantha population and the crate dragons keep each other in balance uh but throw one off out of whack the other gets out of whack yeah and so now we've got that happening plus a bit of the crate dragons roaming territory is like encroaching on settlement he's like we can't we can't have that's not good for anyone so regrettably we have to do it this way. So the plan is you got to go

lure some bantas over to lure the crate dragon out, but some really strong like absolutely shredded sand people are going to show up. These eastern dunes sea sand people are not like the sand people you met elsewhere. These are some like real sand people.

So the fight with the sand people wasn't that bad. But also, I was stunned that we don't fight the crate dragon. Floored. That's all this buildup. Rob, I remember fighting the crate dragon. It's just not real. You just don't fight it. It just blows up.

It just, it fights. You have the mine set up. You lure the bantha's over. You fight the sand people who are trying to defend the bantas. You kill them. You bring the bantas all the way the rest of the way. and you kill the crate dragon. Somehow that makes you a great hero.

I don't know in the eyes of the sand people. I don't think you would technically if you told the story the right way. I don't think they know how that shit went down. That's the crucial part. Because if they knew that what you did was kill a bunch of sand people to lure their bantas over to... To then just lure out the crate dragon into some mines? Yeah, no honor. Also, comment.

So basically I suspect they're talking about the people who made the star map and the Star Forge. Mm-hmm. But as they put it, back in like their prehistory, they know that they're part of an advanced society on tattooing a green and lush world. Yeah. But their ancestors, they got to, they were too haughty.

They raised great cities and no longer lived in the land, but above it. They placed themselves above the land. And then the building. showed up. Yeah. And, like, rapture a bunch of their cities. There's this line where he's like, the, the, this, you know, the leader of our tribe then, his people touched the stars and the sin drew the attention of the builders.

The builders did not touch the stars. They lashed them to millstones. Banger. That's the Star Forge, right? Yep. That's the Star Forge, for sure. So, by the way, as you're getting the story, H.K. keeps editorializing and telling you like, okay, so this is what these dumbasses think this means, but actually what we can probably surmise here. So their whole story is they were, they were a proud technologically advanced society that had grown indifferent to the environment and took it for granted. And in their hubris, they were punished by an even more advanced society showing up that enslaved. them and like wreck their world and like wrecked their cities at least and like seized a bunch of

their people over the coming long period centuries maybe they prepared resistance against this empire and they eventually rose up in revolt and the sit the planet was glassed it was like literally they talk about the planet being turned to glass in places as is just like soaked by by fire but the sand people survived because they hid in their caves and they were able to defeat the builders. And when they came out, you know, they were free, but now it was the desert world. And as HK put it,

they have a long section about the founding of their new desert society. And it's real boring. Yeah. One wonders if there was a different droid here translating if you would find out different types of detail, you know? So, but yeah, you'd ask like further follow-ups about like what they think went down, what happened, you know, HK points out that they talk about their worst ancestors, the people who are

guiltiest of their, of hubris were the ones who were taken. And he's like, well, of course, you know, these people are the descendants, the people are left behind. So of course they think they're the survivors of the good ones. He's like, it's pretty clear they didn't defeat shit. They couldn't have defeated the empire, the type they describe. That empire just didn't want to deal with them and destroyed the planet and left. Yeah. Well, he also says something that's basically like, you know, there was a sort of like a, it was like a plague or something. It was part of how they ended up surviving where the builders didn't, something like that, right?

Yeah. That the occupiers had to deal with the disease. Right. That's what it is. Yes. Yes. Which is interesting. I like that this is like, the thing that I like about this is like, this is not a,

it'd be very easy to play this game and not get all this lore on who the builders are. And I think it's actually really a fun. This is where, like, yeah, go get the star map. Who cares? But like, this is the actual lore dump that exists inside of this part of the people on Tattoo. Instead of it being you hit activate on the star map, it gives you the Lord Dump. You know what I mean?

Which would be a much less interesting version of this. Well, also, too, exactly, this history keeps repeating. Right. That ever since then, their planet is routinely invaded by people who see an empty planet ripe for colonization,

rich with materials. And they all discover there's nothing there. There's, there's, the materials are worthless. It's basically refuge. probably from these wars. And new refuse joins it as these settlements are abandoned, as wars are fought above Tatooine

and like shit crashes on the planet. But this is like Tatooine will always be here and always be exactly this kind of planet because it is now it is a place where like the galactic cycle just keeps repeating. Yep. You know, he specifically says

that like the Sandpeople especially seem to hate humans because of their appearance, they're similar, not their appearance, but their similarity to the builders. And you can be like, hey, is there like physical similarity or like social similarity? Yeah, like, if I show you a picture of someone, can you tell me if they like look like the like the builder? Yeah. And he's like, don't, don't go down this route. It's a bad idea. The thing is funny, HK is ready for so much smoke. Yes. And then the minute you're like, I just have more questions. There's no, you, if you at that point say the wrong thing or open one of their little baskets because you're playing an RPG and you're trying to loot the area, everyone goes hostile. And you don't get any dark side points for that, even if you kill all of them. What you do get is a lot of XP. And a lot of fucking items. Yeah, and a lot of items. And I believe you'll even get the pearl back if you have given it to them.

And so that is a common way to play this game. So I was just doing the canon playthrough, basically. Yeah, you're basically just doing the canon playthru. I did not do this because I wanted both of the crate gems and I did pearls and

you know, I know this lore. It's fine. And so, like, in that, in that context, it's like, if you're giving the player so many opportunities to enter into an agro situation with this, like, with this group of people, it's, like, pushing your hand in a way. In a way, it makes sense because they are like, you, are a fucking outsider every time you talk every time you speak in a way where you question us or you position yourself as like knowing more or like you you're you know questioning our values and

our practices you are re I think he says this at one point uh the chieftain when you're talking to him um after you ask him a question about one of his customs or something he was like you were re oh it's one of the questions is like why are you so hostile to outsiders And if you ask them that, he's like, you even asking that question proves your position as an outsider. Because you're questioning us, the people here, why would we, why would we be hostile to the people that are coming to our planet, like, mining our land and, like, entering in, like, lethal encounters with our people as we're, like, how could you even be asking this question why we, we'd be hostile to the people exploiting our world. And you get a little more XP if you kill them. You get 60 more XP for killing them. I paid for the poison. 60? That's it? Yeah. Yeah. So it either costs you 350 or it earns you 100. It costs you $350

credits or earns you $100 credits but costs you some dark side points and not as many XP So just do what's in your heart This is a real do it's in your heart one I think they're cool You know They're so cute

when I was brought before the chieftain they removed my robes so I was naked in front of the chieftain Cotor nude mod No way they stripped me down too Why were they

stripping us? Because you're in the disguise. Me and Mission were in our under armor. Yeah I think I Wait, really? Yeah, I think I was too, because when I left, I was completely naked. Maybe this is not a bug. I think they just take your, because they take your disguise away. They don't put you in the, they don't put you back into the other armor.

Your replica sand people disguises. Yeah, uh-huh. You bought them from the, that not happened to you? No, I feel like because I was in the cutscene in the Tuscan Rainer outfit, and then I ran into a different bug where made the deal with the chieftain, uh, teleported back to the even hawk, got the moisture things, tried to walk through the path again to go in and all those dudes attacked me because I wasn't able to equip the robes again. And I thought it was like a thing of like, because I didn't, like, because they didn't see me walk through the tunnel or whatever and didn't

know that it was cool. Like I hadn't walked from the sand people area to the, the dune sand. I was like oh these guys outside don't know what's up right oh my god so i had to walk all the way back and then i'll teleport back is how i got around that very funny um that's tattoine that's tatooine where are we going next got to go to kashik got to go to kashik got to go to the ruky home world bring out big z it's big z time yeah i think the game might force you i think it must i mean if it doesn't you just should you got to commit i'm not saying you have to bring out too mission can maybe chill yeah maybe maybe see what big Z like outside of her yeah get some like good quality time with you and Big Z yeah big Z clearly hates you though like

maybe maybe maybe you just got to go to Big Csies home you know yeah maybe what do you think is happening on Cache these days or Cache I never know how to pronounce it there's three whys that makes me want to say sheik I feel like it's Cache they usually say Cache's I think okay They say things differently. Keith Carberry is on our asses for pronunciation. But let me tell you about a game called Knights of the Old Republic where their own characters pronounce stuff differently. You'll hear Bastilla.

You'll hear Bastila. You'll hear Kashik. You'll hear all sorts of stuff. It's pronounced different ways. Pizak. You'll hear Pizak instead of Pizak. So. What if Kashik has like little baby roach trees?
