A More Civilized Age: A Star Wars Podcast - 74: Tatooine (Knights of the Old Republic 05)
Episode Date: November 15, 2023We're back with more KOTOR! And wouldn't you know it, we're also back once again to Tatooine, the planet Star Wars just can't stay away from. What's up with this desert world some 4,000 years before L...uke ever farmed a single drop of moisture? Well, would you believe a Hutt is running swoop bike races? Or that there are tensions between the indigenous population of the planet and human colonizers? What if I told you that a giant desert creature was a major threat? Grimy cantina with weirdos in it? All of this sound familiar? Well it better, because we wouldn't have it any other way. Next time: We finally head to Big Z's homeworld: Kashyyyk Show Notes Hosted by Rob Zacny (@RobZacny) Featuring Alicia Acampora (@ali_west), Austin Walker (@austin_walker), and Natalie Watson (@nataliewatson) Produced by Ricardo Contreras (@a_cado_appears) Music by Jack de Quidt (@notquitereal) Cover art by Xeecee (@xeeceevevo)

Let us return once more to a more civilized age, a Star Wars podcast.
I'm Rob Zakening, joined by Ali Akampora, Austin, and Natalie Watson.
We are, as always, supported by you, our listeners, by patreon.com slash civilized.
So head over there if you'd like to support the show.
Here are explanations for where we've been for the last month, and get access to all our Q&A episodes.
As we sort of alluded to in our Q&A, it's, it's, it's.
It's been a month.
It's been a lot's been going on in the various, in the various households.
Yeah.
One could say life peaked aboard the Halcyon.
It's all been downhill since.
They gave us like one last ride.
They were like, here's, for everything you're about to experience.
Here's one little taste of happiness and bliss.
And then they were like, no, fuck you.
I'm going to take it all.
take it all from you.
Yep.
Me staring into the darkness of the night.
Tabooita.
To booie tie.
To booie tae.
To booie.
To booie.
To be back.
Bro.
I miss her.
So this week, the Bastilla gang goes to tattooing discovers.
Yep.
It's tattooing.
In fact, it is a bit like Galaxy's Edge where the whole tattooing experience is squeezed into a few acres of sand and stone.
Sand people.
they're raiding ain't tuskins though because fort tuscan has not been built yet that's right huts they're organizing races like like always crate dragons they're in their caves and javas just want to do deals
did you do any deals with the javas is anybody deal with the javas oh yeah i did him a solid yeah yeah yeah it's a kind of right right
it really is like a yeah yeah do you want me i'm going to the store do you want me to pick you up anything
Yeah, pick up my boys for me.
Okay, yeah, I got you, I got you, I got you.
Yeah, so Tatooine is, it really is a condensed experience of Tatooine.
It also provides some canon explanation for, hey, why is Tatooine always like this,
no matter where we show up in Star Wars history?
And apparently people at BioWare noticed and built in some explanations for how Tatooine is a place
where the cycles of history just keep unfolding forever.
You know, there's, there's a lot that happens.
Where do we want to begin?
Because I will say this, I do not feel like there's a through line to Tatooine so much as there's a bunch of adjacent, like, things happening.
The short version of Tatooine, if you're just doing the main plot, is like, show up, ask around about who knows anything about where a star map could be.
You eventually find out that, like, the only way to get anything done here is to try to get to a conclusion to the fact that there are sand people race.
on the planet or on on the the the zirka corporations mining uh uh you know sand crawler and
all of their there and on anchorhead itself deal with that and the way that you end up dealing
with that depending on if you negotiate your way through through a peace settlement or i guess
kill all of them uh and along the way learn and get access to getting to the place where the
star map is which is just like another little map area wildly underwhelming yeah that final
zone you go in there and it's like there's a zone you can't go to until you
you get a map to get there.
It's like, oh, it's just, it's too dangerous to get.
You can't just walk out into the sand.
What are you thinking?
And you get there and it's like nothing.
It's literally a cave.
That's why I got that message.
I was like, which one?
Oh, like trying to go there from the southern.
Yeah, it was like, it would be, it would be ludicrous.
It would be, you know.
Yes.
It's like, the star map is so well hidden.
It's like back issues of like jugs and Playboy in the woods, right?
It's like basically, right?
Like basically, like, nobody has ever seen this in 10,000 years.
Well, like, what's funny is the Java is like, yeah, I know where that is.
Yeah, it's just up in the, it's in the cave.
Yeah, he's like, StarForge, uh-huh, yeah.
I'm like, oh, so you just know about the most powerful piece of jigsaw puzzle mapperi
that's out there waiting, like, what?
I mean, like, this is, this whole episode, this whole planet is like last samurai
dances with wolves like the non-human species all got it right you know what I mean
there's like a little noble savagery type shit happening like that's kind of what the tattooing
experience is but they do know about where the star forge map is oh they do you know and they
do know what actually happened on tattooing though trust indigenous voices you know like it's true
it's true actually we should talk about before we even get off the ship though did we talk about
the little stowaway thing last time we didn't talk about the stowaway so we didn't you get two barrels
Did we talk about the thing that you see when you first leave Dantuin,
which was Malik and Saul talking about Carth and them hiring someone.
No, we need to talk about that.
And them hiring someone to come get us.
Yeah.
Talonord lives, everybody.
For at least four hours of gaming time.
I'll tell you, he's suddenly seen less cool.
When you first meet him, Antares, one, two.
But the third time he does that little shit.
It's less impressive. It's like, oh, you're just a little dweeb.
He doesn't even bust it out.
Two. He doesn't even bust it out in the final confrontation with him. He's just punk. He knows he's done. Yeah. He's got a stupid little hat.
Like he doesn't have sick armor. He never wears.
You try on the armor he dropped? I feel like he I feel like he was wearing given how that fight went or the three or four times that fight went. He is
Mandalorian. He is custom.
Mandalorian armor that he made that he had made custom for himself and then he killed. I
killed the guy who made it so no one else could get a copy of it per the item description.
I put that shit right on Canderus.
Canderus is walking that now.
That dude has so many NFTs.
Oh, for sure.
For sure, for sure.
He took his locker to his grave.
Yeah, he forgot the code.
He's the dude who forgot the code to his Bitcoin locker and he won't let anybody try
to help him open it.
So, yeah, we do discover he's like he somehow survived the, uh,
destruction of Taurus and Davick's base.
And he shows up and he's like, I can tell you all about what the Jedi are up to.
And I don't know, it's like, it's Malik just treats him with barely concealed impatience.
But yeah, so you know he's out there.
And then it is one damn thing after another aboard your ship.
So you're just trying to get to attach.
when you're just trying to, like, maybe leave the ship
and somebody interrupts you as you're leaving.
I think it's, I think it's, uh, big Z, right?
And he's like, the food's getting eaten.
And I'm like, this isn't that kind of game.
I don't need, I don't worry about food.
I don't know, like, what you expect me to be counting steel rations?
Yeah, what if you added a new bar, your hunger meter?
I thought for it.
You're out of the tutorial now.
I would love that.
Top up in your blue milk.
The title drop drops now.
Yeah.
It's like, welcome the Kodor.
See, that's if they made it today.
If they made it today, it would be a build, survive game.
You'd have to, you'd have to punch trees.
Oh, what are you going to feed your party tonight for buffs tomorrow?
That sounds good, actually.
That sounds great.
But then they'd write some fucking lines for Big Z.
They bet they would.
He'd be like, oh, yeah, this roast duck is real good.
Thanks.
Cooking mini game.
Cooking mini game.
I mean, here's the fucked up thing is like, we were about to talk about an event on the ship.
And you're about to talk about, like,
there are multiple events on the ship, presumably, because I bet the other thing happened to you
also while you're in the tattooing docking bay. You got someone who ran up and was like,
sign for these, please. Did you get that happening to? Okay. You know what game has a spaceship
and no events happen on the spaceship? Starfield.
Fucking, what are we doing? How do you make a game that's all about you get a custom spaceship?
And we don't have team meetings on the spaceship. I don't run around the spaceship to talk to my
boys. We don't have, we never have stowaways, which is what you're leaving.
leading to. It's just the cutest little stow away. It's just you like the bin where it's like you hear
footsteps behind you and you're like trying to track down where she was. That was cute. That was
really fun. I thought I had to like, uh, I thought I had to find like a flashlight or something. I was
I was so confused as to why. I build the little rabbit trap with the stick in the box.
Yeah. Once you go all over the ship and get all the like you hear rushing footsteps and nope, not
in here, not near, eventually you find, you go back into the hold and you start inspecting
all the crates that have been cracked open and a little waif pops out. And you're like,
what are you doing here, a little waif? And she's like, swoobooly. And yeah, you should be
saying it like that. And there ensues a long, you know, basically a forerunner. Wait, did you
try talking to anybody on the ship about, hey. I talked to everyone on the ship. So I don't know
talking about the stow way and everyone's like can't help you bro sorry man you got nothing to say about
this the fact that canters i thought the natural like what they were leading to because it it it's
revealed that this the stow way is speaking like a kind of language that's like somewhat related
to it's like pigeon mandolarian yeah so i figured i i waited a while before asking around like who could
help me. And I was like, oh, it's naturally
Canderous. When you go up to Cander's,
Canderers is like, not my fucking problem.
I was like, well, I don't know
what I expected to be honest, because why would I
have thought that Canderers would have given one
shit about a
kid, a child, on our
ship? Everybody want to be
on the ship until it's
chore assignment day.
Really? You know?
Somehow everyone has the day off when
the chore wheel comes
out and it's time to
check the rations and
sorry chief I got to bank my grenades
and it's everyone
it's not like candorous is the person
who talks about the stowaway
and big z talks about the ginkas
it's nobody gives a shit and everybody gets the dialogue
option and every single time they're just like
this has nothing to do with me
do you think there was a situation where there was originally
a plan to like let people help
with these these quests
and then, like, they couldn't do it in time.
And so they, like, I guess just put in, I can't help you with that, bro.
Maybe.
I guess so.
There is a lot of, like, speaking of this planet,
there is some dialogue on it that implies some stuff,
and then you can't go do it.
Like a swoop bike upgrading.
Yeah, like, up the upgrades.
Yeah, they're lost.
Okay.
I lost my mind trying to find the fucking swoop upgrades.
Yep.
There are any.
they do not exist
Not on a single
And not ever
Know this Rob
Never will they exist
I think there's one more planet
With swoop racing on it
I think
I think Manon has swoops
And apparently people on that planet
Will be talking about upgrades as well
But there's nowhere
Like I've looked this up
Because I was losing my mind
On the swoop racing
I was I
Tier 3 was killing me
And I looked up like
Very carefully
I was like swoop racing
Cotor strategy
and it brought
No spoilers
No spoilers please
And Reddit has a theory that
There was a plan to have upgrades
But it was scrapped for time or whatever
I think that's probably right
That could be it
I have a feeling
It's I feel like this game wants you to think
That there's more to this world
Than you will ever get access to
As a way of kind of creating depth
Like what I think about
But what it's like
We don't talk to this person.
Yeah, but a lot of that...
Yeah, but even when you walk around and you're talking to everyone and you're like,
who around here knows what's going on on Tatine?
And everyone kind of gestureds towards something that you never really find until, like,
I guess the Jawa's and the...
Wait, so are they not Tuscan Raiders?
They're sad people, but the reason that we call them Tuscan Raiders is because
At a point in time that has not happened yet, they will attack a place called Fort Tuscan.
They raid Fort Tuscan so that then become Tuscan Raiders, which is why despite it all,
Sand People is maybe the less shitty version of a name for them as people.
Because at least it's not tied to like, they killed a bunch of settlers.
At one point in my notes, I started not, I stopped writing Sand People and I started writing Tuscan Raiders
because it's like, this feels so bad.
I don't want to write sand people anymore.
It's so bad.
Now I'm like, fuck.
Yeah.
There's not ever, I think, I don't know that there's ever a given.
You would think that Boba Het, the Boba Fett show.
Boba Head.
Boba Fett show would have a.
What do you call yourselves?
Wait, that's what like, you would have that at least once.
He does all that shit.
He gets the gaffy stick and shit.
No, he doesn't ever say like, what's the name of this tribe?
He doesn't ever say like, what do you call yourself?
Actually, we like being called sand people.
Well, like, I guess the.
For people of the sand.
For people of the sand, right?
There is a lot of like, oh, the word for any group of people in the entire fucking world
comes down to like, we're the people of dirt or the people of the world or whatever.
It's like guess sand people could theoretically be that.
But it sucks to read over and over again.
Yeah, it really does.
You know how sucks to read is the little nonsense language.
Your little stow way.
What's her name, Sasha?
Is that her name?
I think so.
Yeah.
And you got to play this little like shitty twine game.
It is a twine game.
You keep, look, they're predicting, like, a ton of, like, innovations and narrative design that are coming.
Because you just got to keep mapping out, you learning her language.
Yeah.
By just...
So, she says, like, so for instance, she will say something to you where she goes,
Sasha not Isawan in Bristag.
Bristag, me, Leifah.
And then you have a set of options.
They're like, a lot of those words sound kind of mandolour.
Or you can be like, Bristag, what's that?
Or Leifah, everything is safe?
Is that it?
Does Leesfa means safe?
And you just do that with every single word she says.
Yeah.
And then eventually.
And then you've learned the language and you can communicate.
And eventually you can.
And you learn, she's got to go back to Dantuin.
Yeah.
Like all this is the most obvious thing is like, it's a fucking kid who hopped on your ship with Dantuin.
I thought, so I found her in.
immediately was like, oh, this is the kid from Dantween.
Let me go back and talk to this.
I never found a kidnapping quest out in that world.
Well, there's the guy out front who's like, uh, I'm looking for this kid.
Have you seen this kid?
And so I went back and talked to him.
And he was like, do you think it's her?
And I'm like, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's her.
And he's like, all right, come let me know when you know it's her.
Oh, so you still have.
I'll go and go back and finish this.
Can you walk up that ramp?
Can you just walk up the ramp 20 feet away?
Nah, man.
And I got to stay here in case somebody comes and they know about this kid.
I can't.
I can't really come.
Exactly.
He's so weird about it that like by the end, I'm like.
I feel like I'm giving her to not.
Me too.
Yeah.
Not her parents.
It's like I just trained her danger to this kid.
Yeah.
It doesn't feel good.
It feels like you really have to convince her to go.
Yeah.
She wants to hang.
She's like, your ship is my home now, which is like, is it, you've been here for three days.
Like, maybe not even.
So, like, maybe that was a little too much.
But, you know, I don't know.
We have a little mascot on the ship.
Yeah, I was like, fucking come hang.
The ginkas, you can take care of the ginkas.
You can clean their cages and pick up their poop and pet them and stuff.
So that's the next thing that happens.
You take 10 steps outside the ship once you've dealt with the stowaway.
And the guy's like, yeah, you're going to even sign for your ginka?
Am I what now?
It's like, sorry, they got loose during delivery.
And I don't have my clipboard.
But look, I'm not taking them back.
Good luck.
Have fun, asshole.
And if you go back aboard the ship, there's these adorable little critters running around.
They don't seem to be doing any harm.
And so I'm like, do I have to kill the Ginka?
Do I have to kill the Ginka?
Do you want to know?
I haven't yet.
I haven't.
I got a surprising amount of experience for killing the Ginka.
You need a lot of experience for killing the Gizkas, by the way.
Gizkas, whatever.
Gizkas.
Yeah.
You don't have to kill the Giskas.
You don't have to.
The man, the little double man with the little guy riding.
Yeah, we got another one of those guys.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, he's the merchant at the docking bay.
He's selling the poison.
Gisca poison, 350.
You know how much money I made?
350 is not.
Yeah, it's a bargain.
I haven't in my inventory.
I just can't.
He's waiting for it.
So when I realized, sorry, when I started playing the session again, my last, before we wrapped up last time, I had this late night session on Dan Tawain.
Yeah.
Where I entered a few states and I played a lot of, uh, Pazock.
Yeah.
And I lost big.
Oh, no.
And then I started chasing my losses.
No, Rob.
No.
You got to save after every match.
No.
No.
Why do you save?
Because it was late.
I was tired.
And I'd done some other stuff.
I wandered off after being like, well, I'm broke.
That's okay.
And I wandered off and did some stuff.
If you complete the swoop races, you can make like 20 G's.
So simply make complete the swoop races.
Our friend Keith Carbriks sent some very good advice that did get me back in.
And also I finally like realized that you can buy somebody to earn Pazak cards.
You can.
And really you just need the plus ones minus ones.
You just need the plus one minus one.
The most valuable card.
Just buy it.
Just buy it.
And then just like, you know, play the odds.
But anyway.
So I kind of went, I kind of arrived on Tatooine, having been busted on, uh, Dantuin.
And so I didn't have 350.
Oh, so you just had the Giscus.
I just had Giscus.
And then it was like, um, no, sorry.
I did have 350, but I didn't talk to those guys first because I, what I had was 5.50.
And you walked through the gate into town.
Uh-huh.
Oh, yes.
And like every 20 steps, you're running a little pathetic person and the,
galaxy, uh, in this game.
You trip over a widow.
Yeah.
And she's like, okay, first of all, this is like, I may have done something evil here,
but not on purpose.
It's like, is this even a widow?
This is like someone you run into at the train station.
Yeah.
Who's like, will you please buy my raid, uh, skeleton crest thing?
Yeah.
My husband, he, he died hunting this.
I promise it's worth $500
and my children who are not here
we all need this and I need it
so I can take a bus out of town
that ticket costs 400 credits
but of course meals for my kids
both cost 50 credits so I do 500
but I swear this is worth it
and so
you're just like yeah
Shirino Fizark
widow to a hunter
who died hunting
or I guess it's not clear if he died hunting
this thing he must have gotten back to give it to
her it's a skull found it oh he he didn't even hunt it no so it's so he was a shit like he was
dog shit hunter like he was I think he was a vet from the war uh-huh or maybe that's the other
guy you meet maybe a couple vets but the point is I think he just found it and he was like hey
this is worth a lot of money I should be a hunter and so he spent all the families remaining money
on the hunting license to go be a hunter for the zirka court and then his first time
he disappears. And her theory
is that the Gammerian hunting
group. Yes. Right. Right. Jumped him. They just deadwooded
it. Which is probably right, by the way, because I'll
try that shit on you. Oh, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
I'm...
I told her,
listen.
What's got a deal?
I said, I can't buy it from you.
Is that what I did? Or do I just talk her down on price?
I might just be like
So you didn't
Could you have been like
I give it to me
I'll sell you and I'll bring you
That's what I thought I was going to do
That's what I was trying to do too
What I did instead was I think I just said
I'll give you $250 for it
And everybody in my party was like
What do you do?
Whoa!
Why are you doing this evil thing?
What do you mean?
I had to leave Jehani and Bastilla in the
In the truck
I have to tell you this right now
You've been sending us messages in a way that made me think that you think something different about this game than that it is.
They ain't going anywhere.
They haven't got no loyalty meter you trying to fill.
Let them, yeah.
That's all they're going to do.
Julana can talk all that shit.
She's not going anywhere.
You know where she's going?
She's going to force a leap in front of me to go fight people for me.
Also, Bastilla gets a little, she encourages an evil thing later on in this game.
She encourages some dark side action.
You mean in this section?
With the wife guy.
Oh, wait, does she?
She wasn't with me during the wife guy.
So I'm excited to hear about it.
So I'm saying, Natalie, you do not need to like back out of the thing and load your save and like, oh no, Johani's not like me less.
It's cool.
I'm role playing.
Okay, that's fine.
Oh, yeah, you're role playing by loading your save and seeing if the person likes what you like.
Well, I just don't want to hear Johani telling me, like, when I'm.
I use force persuade that I'm so
fucking evil and
Bacilla being like you are
you are you are
bastardizing the force you are
perverting it you sick fuck and I'm like
oh my god I'm trying to
I'm trying to get a good deal for us
we're trying to save the galaxy
yeah uh-huh it's ridiculous
I don't know what it's like out here
that's why I brought candorous
I brought candorous round with me and he
seemed to get it
he seems to understand that except for the one part
where he said I had no honor and I was like we'll get there anyway he's wrong about that by the way
because I did this for it on that I did the same thing Austin I took half her money and went and sold
it she didn't work for that you know I didn't I don't see the kids yeah what you want
where those kids show me the kids you got a photo so if you're going to sell it
So you got to have the hunting license.
The whole thing is controlled by Zirka Corp.
Right.
And when you go in to meet the hunters, the, the dude running sort of the hunting lodge tells
you he can't buy, you can't do any transactions until you get it.
Until you're basically like bonded by the company.
Right.
You also chat up.
Which that's the state of the things here, right?
Anchorhead is a Zerker Corp mining expedition that has kind of gone belly up.
It did not pan out.
They did not find what they thought they would find here.
Right.
You get the full briefing from, like, the customs officer you meet at the end of your gangway.
He gives you a good bit of background here, which is like, so they all thought that it was, wow, this is just free land.
Nobody's, nobody's been here, nobody's claimed it.
And early surveys are like, there's metal.
We'll just, we'll just strip mine this planet.
And something's weird with the metal.
I'm curious if they were going to explain this.
The metal, like, turns to shit.
Yeah.
It breaks apart.
It's not good metal, actually.
It's probably just shitty from the old settlers.
Like, the thing that you learn about tattooing,
and we can go more into depth when we talk about the sand people and stuff,
is that, like, tattooing has been settled over and over and over and over and over again,
and the only living beings, sentient beings,
are the Jawa's and the sand people that have kind of seen Tatooine through time.
Through all of time and over and over again they've seen people come through resettle it
It gets wiped out so I imagine that the metal that CircuCorp is pulling up is like shitty old
Machines and stuff like that that from previous Settling there's that great line that is it is the same is he the the guy the
Oh the
Aziz is his name where he's like you know
At some point you're like you're like you're like you're like
like, you know, what do you, I think he's like, how do you even know about this or something
like that about the, where the star map might be? And he's like, listen, man, here's how it's
going to go. Like, you're, these, the people who are here now are going to leave. We're going to,
we're going to collect their stuff and we're going to sell it to the people who come next. And
some of it's going to get lost in the sand. And then we will trade it to the next people who
come. Long have we scavenged among you and those who've come before. We have things that you
will like for this service. Like, we have scavenged this place over and over again. This is the
cycle continues even though he calls anchorhead a place named and named again you come to
dig but it was already dug settled over and over also long ago ships fell after battles above
now we scavenged the pieces like he's spitting aziz ziz is all right ziz why can't we get a ziz in
the party i would love to have a job on the party please please come see the world his skill set
seems very
undefined.
No,
he can do the
trading for us.
He can cut the deals.
Yeah.
And shoot.
I think Dupz
already has the
trading stats,
charisma up on the way.
But I bet he's like,
you know,
repair high and slicing
and stuff.
Oh.
He just goes out
and finds like stuff
for you.
Yeah.
That happens in the,
in the MMO.
You can put your people
on things like
go get me some cool parts
to
make stuff with and they don't have like different jobs what they can go do anyway so if you run
down to the zirka offices uh you wander into the middle of an angry conversation between the local
function area for the zirka corp and okay when uh he's like a cadbane species right these little
dudes he's a doros yeah i think so durose yeah yeah and he's there saying like you can't do this
You can't just wipe out a village.
And the Zerka corpse, like, yeah, we can.
See a, and on his way out, he tells you, don't believe a word these people tell you.
What they tell you is, one, they're not issuing hunting licenses anymore, which seems like a good decision because, as they point out, it's gotten, it's turned a real amateur hour out there.
And they're, the hunters just going outside the walls and are getting instantly killed by whatever they find out there.
So they've stopped doing it.
But maybe they will give you a hunting license
if you will go deal with the sand people
and particularly like wipe out this one tribe
that's been hitting their sand crawlers.
That's basically it.
Like you can go out, you can go talk to the Duro
some minute later and he's like,
I think there's a peaceful resolution.
And he lays out the steps of the quest.
He's like, admittedly, it's very hard.
Like nobody knows how to talk to the same.
sand people, like
there's civilization, but there's been
no communication. It's all just violence
and raids.
And he, you know, he's very
sensitive to the entire thing. Like, imagine
it from their point of view. They're being invaded by
by a hostile power. They don't understand.
If only we could find
a translator droid, not a protocol
droid. A translator droid.
They could let us communicate. But of course
you'd have to get out there. So you'd
probably need sand people costumes.
Can't go buy those.
So you would probably,
you can get it off some of the sand people
you might find out in the Dune C.
How would we find them?
Well, we'll kill them.
We'll kill them.
They'll try to kill you first, so it's fine.
So it's fine.
Don't worry about it.
The way a lot of this gets talked about
is so funny because it is like
Baby's first colonialism.
Like, it's not even that.
It's actually written,
I guess, actually, let's bracket this
and say more broad.
broadly, you get a tattooing, and maybe this is only true for me because I'm still kind of gray
morally right now. I'm not leaning blue. Maybe this is the case. But like, you can start
to get some real asshole responses, generally speaking, throughout tattooing, where you can,
in the middle of conversation with randos, be like, give me your money. How don't you give me your money?
Yeah, what the hell? How about you give me everything you got? I'm going to run those pockets.
Like, it is on in terms of you can be as evil as you want to be now. But in general, the way that
this is being written is like you obviously hate the sand people. Like obviously they are
monstrous raiders first and foremost and like sort of people. They're kind of people shaped
is the way the like the tone of everything here is written. Like you to get your hunting license
have to agree to basically go take their gaffy sticks and turn them in like scalps, right? Like that is
what it is evoking explicitly is scalping. And like the, the, the,
the thing that, like, it's written as if that's not a big deal, which is actually kind of
a weird achievement to not make your, like, the Zirko functionary who's telling you this
is not twirling her evil mustache.
She is like, and you can turn these in, I'll give me a couple hundred bucks for them,
you know, which is like, it's the course of, it's the, it's the order of business.
You know what I mean?
This is just what we do here.
But like, it's so funny in the way that when it slowly unfolds that you could talk your
way through this entire thing.
the whole thing feels like the writers felt it was a novel way to portray the situation on tattooing, you know, which I guess inside of Star Wars, it kind of is. It's just that we all knew better. I don't know, but the time I played this game, I'd already been like, eh, sand people feels bad. One of the tales from Lasley is about an attempt to broker a treaty that goes like tragically wrong at the last minute. Yeah. Yeah. So like, it's, it's, you know, in Star Wars, it starts with the sand people are terrible.
creatures who we all have to run from and ends with the Ewox helping you beat the
empires.
Even Star Wars kind of got the note that like we have to, now are Ewox cute little adorable
teddy bears and sand people like barely changed like, you know, Middle Eastern stereotypes?
Them's as mean badwin.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
100% right.
So obviously it's it doesn't just, they did not fix it then in those movies.
But you even they were like, all right, we got to get to the place.
or like the local tribe beats the big, you know, mechanical empire, right?
So it's weird that it's positioned as such a novel way of thinking about the world.
But it really emphasizes that this is a world where humans are fucking in charge.
Like under the world, the rule of the Sith, this is a human's galaxy and everybody else is
second place, if that, you know?
Yeah.
But at the same time, if you want any useful information, the people, the people, you know, the
people that you need to talk to are the, like, people, the indigenous people of this world.
Like, you've got to go talk to the Jawa's or the same people.
That is the, those are the only people that are going to give you the information that you
need, that we need for our quest in order to continue playing this game.
Like, it, it, that really struck me the way that you said, you know, it's kind of an achievement
for the game to, to position the, um, to position the,
like the way that the sand people are regarded on this planet because yeah it is it is delivered so matter-of-factly that you don't there's nothing inherently like it's not explicitly evil like it's not evil there's no evil language or whatever it's like super transactional and it's interesting that so so much of what
is kind of evil about what your evil expressions can be throughout tant throughout tattooing are
transactional it's about like give me all your money give me what you have it's not like
crate pearl yeah give me whatever exactly it's all like it all has to do with like like economy
stuff like finances or resources or whatever it's not like well even the good stuff you can do
so from there there you have a couple places you can go
Right? You go deal with the hunting lodge stuff. You can go to the swoop race bike, the swoop bike place. And in both of those places, if you think about the widow, it's about, it's about economy. It's about getting her, her fair share there. And then in the soup registration place, it's about the little micro story that's happening there. It's about this up and coming guy, Nico, who's like, who's like about to break big on the soup circuit and he's about to get screwed over by this hut. And like, can you get him a good contract? Can you renegotiate a contract for him?
for yourself there's also that part like hey pay me more i'm better i'm bigger than this um so you're
right like constantly what is what is it to be darksided it is to like get better the better of
someone on in a financial transaction yeah yeah which is interesting and even not if you use good
persuade not if you use good persuade don't work well that's also interesting right your your friends
will yell at you your companions will yell at you for using force persuade
They tend not to yell you in the same way when you're just like talking someone into something.
They might not, they might think you're doing something cowardly or doing something like kind of shitty.
But it's not like, dude, don't use the force to do evil, you know?
And IA, I'm just using the silver tongue that the God's blessed dops with.
Yep.
So, yeah, you know, you go to the, let's see, you run into a weird Sith assassin.
gang.
I forgot about them.
These guys mean shit.
They're kind of cool.
They look cool, but they're crap.
The all gray and black with the hood look is kind of cool.
We'll see a lot more of them before the day is done.
But they just get shot down in the street.
Like just absolutely just murdered.
There are random encounters on this planet with sand people who that are 10 times hard.
Yeah.
Those sand people would absolutely crush the dark Jedi that they get sent at you.
Cleared. Easy.
You go to Swoop bike place, and yes, there's the, there's the rising star of the circuit
there. Also, all the conversation of the Swoop Bike Place is about Taurus being destroyed.
Is it really the top of conversation everywhere on Tatouin right now, which is interesting.
Like, this is a sense that everyone is sort of monitoring war news here in Taurus is a shocking event.
You can say, like, what do you, is anything going on? What's up?
And everybody has something to say about Taurus.
Yeah. And then you have to, like, specify.
by like, no, I want to know what's going on Tatooine.
Like, what's happening here?
Anything more local to talk about?
Like, it's interesting that the first thing, people's attention is outside Tatooine.
I wonder if we had done a different, I wonder if we go to another planet if similarly
it'll be like, what's up with the news lately?
And they'll be like, oh, this wild stuff happened on Tatooine because we'll finish Tatooine.
You know what I mean?
Or I'm curious if that's how that's slotting in or if it would always just be about Taras.
I mean the world did get fucking blown up
That's pretty
It's true
Pretty shocking
And all those beautiful swoop bikes
And swoop bike tracks
That's why people care
Because that was like the gourd
The best swoop racing
And out in the galaxy
Was it two gangs running
It sucks
I know
I was like
You basically ran through a sewer
The prize was a woman
What do you mean
That's the best it gets
That's fucked up
Nothing like a woman's love
out in this cold galaxy
I think that was
that was sort of their weird
like street race thing maybe there are more
sanctioned events but either way
it is sort of like the Monaco
Grand Prix was happening
and then it got destroyed by laser
fire from orbit and like all
the racers who were there
were killed the track is gone
so everyone's like what what is to
become a swoop racing
in a world where this can happen
No one believes you when you're like, oh, yeah, I won that.
No, you didn't.
It blew up.
What are you talking about?
That's not you.
Which I love.
I love that you won this.
You won the Monaco Grand Prix and also the last one ever.
The biggest UFC fight of all time that was like to the death.
And then you go out for all.
And everyone's like, no, you didn't.
What do you?
That's stop lying.
Convenient that it was all blown up so we can't verify that you were actually there.
Yeah.
See, this is what our bartender at Galaxy at, uh,
house hand did the swoop.
You're right.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
No, I wanted to.
Crazy.
Swo.
Oh, it's so funny.
That's a swoop.
So you just have to prove yourself on the track.
How'd y'all do on these races?
You lost money?
Because you have to spend.
Because you have to pay a hundred dollars every single time.
You got to save scum.
I had to stop and go to Yavin before I could take part in the race.
Because you had to flip something to myself.
Oh, because you were broke.
I was so.
Because I was so.
Because I was so.
Because I.
because I gave the widow 500 credits.
Right.
So.
Could you flip that at Yavin?
Or is that only a dialogue cell?
So I don't know.
But the thing is, did you give you the full 500?
Okay.
At the lodge.
Okay.
And no other raid plate is that near that.
Even close.
No.
You can bring those raid plates to Yavin, by the way.
The ones you get from.
Way better deal.
Worth three times much.
Like truly between this, the, the raid plates and the, um,
The bonds.
The bonds.
Please tell me the bonds.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
You can go sell them at Yavin.
No.
No, Natalie.
This was a message.
This was a message.
This was a key.
The,
the hut,
the hut of the hut.
Yeah.
Is like my bonds are worth
about 60 credits.
aboard the Yavin space station.
They're worth about 150.
Yeah.
You make bank up there.
I'm truly made like 24,000 credits.
Oh, no.
I'm trying to think how far did I save.
How far ago?
Oh, no.
Well, I'm holding on to something.
I have a little bit of an investment.
I don't know if I'm going to sell it or not.
Wait, what are you holding on to?
I have, you know, I got the extra prize at the end.
I have the extra prize at the end.
Not the end of the race is the end of Tatouine.
At the end of Tatooine, yes.
So I'm, you know, it's not my bank account right now, but I have some holdings.
Yeah, you can, you can make good money on that, on that, on those races if you can, if you can get that.
But it's so hard.
I can't even beat the first one.
Allie, I believe in you.
You got to hit the speed pads and you got to shift at the end.
I do.
Only shift when it's red and shift right before hitting a speed pad.
there is there's it's it's
okay wait a second
are you sure when it's all the way
fulled up the button will be like
press the button
as soon as it says press the button
hit the button don't wait for any
a
it doesn't hit it any early
ever don't ever hit it
because you'll never get to top speed otherwise
well also like
the later level it's at first you're like
okay you don't need to hit every speed boost
because they're all of the
way. By the end, you're like, you need to be swooping back and forth. That's why it's swoop
racing. You got to be swooping back and forth. Swooping is racing. You get every speed boost.
You can miss like three tops. It's, it is hard. It was hard for me also. I like to be like, I have
to be like 800 credits in the whole. No. I do a lot of money. You need to go through and get this
money so you can go get these bonds so you can get back. Because like, I'm at the point where I'm like
looking at the yavin shop, be like, ooh, nine thousand.
I have 9,000.
What can I pick up for 9,000?
What?
Oh, God, damn it.
You're five figures out here in the Evan Hawk.
I went out.
I should just swap in bottles.
I need to figure out.
Table service.
So once I'd sold a bunch of shit, some lightsaber crystals I wasn't using.
And some, oh, those Sith assholes.
I sold some of the shitty lightsabers to my man on the Yavin Space Station.
Did you sell the short lightsaber?
No.
That's good, actually.
I kept it for a dual wielder.
Yes.
if I decided someone should be a dual wheel.
Smart.
You should.
The little lightsaber Wakazashi.
Yeah.
So the,
I came back and I hit the bar
and there's the man who's like,
I'm a fiend for Pizak.
And I was like, let me talk to my guy
of the bartender here.
Was he got Pizak cards?
He was like, do I got a plus one minus one.
So over the course that like I got rid
of all my trash.
Like for some reason I was like plus or minus five.
that's powerful.
No, no, no.
It's the one.
The one's a powerful card.
So now it's all good shit
in my side deck.
And I just clean that guy out.
Do you win?
If you win enough times,
does he like leave?
That guy stops playing.
You beat him three times.
He's like, I can't afford to keep playing.
Damn.
Now the question is whether the dude
aboard the space station
ever stops playing.
Right.
Because his table stakes are 750.
Wow, are they?
Yeah.
Oh, that's infinite money.
I'm curious if they ever turned that off
I can beat him
Yeah
So
Anyway so got got my money right
And then
Went across the street to the droid dealer
Uh huh
Because her rumor
That he's got like a good droid there
That might be able to do a little translation
I was not prepared
For what I found there
Which was an evil cat protocol droid
Oh it's so good
I love that you never, you don't know anything about HK47 before this, huh?
Nope.
You had no idea what you were walking into.
Tell us about HK.47.
Whose name, by the way, is basically AK-47.
I love him.
So you walk in, he's not like other droids.
He's not.
Again, he's got a little cat face.
Yeah, it's true.
He's got a little, like, sort of squared off, like, almost trapezoidal head with the,
little tiny little nose slits for eyes and you're looking around the shop and the
authorians like the authority he runs it is like yeah I've don't have much inventory but
you know I got droid over there and he's like just buy me and you're like what do you do
droid and he's like a lot of stuff just buy me like well what kind of stuff well I can
translate I also have some combat abilities I will not tell you more at this junk
Sure. Let's be clear. What he says is, observation. I am wasted in a shop or translating for some moisture farmer. If you need an efficient combatant return to purchase me, I beg you. He's great. He is seething. That's your HK voice. Yeah, that's his, that's the HK voice. Sure. It's high. He's a bit of a nebish. Yeah. He does his little, like, his prissy little, like, it is evil cat C3b. Yeah, it's he does his prissy little negatory observation.
Yeah, uh-huh, qualification, master.
He's more Niles than Frasier.
Yeah, for sure.
And he hates the guy running the droid shop
because this guy sucks.
Like this is, so, and here, actually, it occurred to me.
This is actually probably the, like,
the runaway droid thing on Dantuin.
This is actually probably the tweak I'd make
is the explanation I might have for,
HK47 is that like he's like the super droid that was built by the master droid craftsman and like but then he he would have just killed that lady oh you'll learn about HK 47's background if you have enough points in repair and also he'll become really good if you have enough points in repair.
Wait, I got to start dumping points into repair slash fighting the red equipment.
Yeah, uh-huh.
You dops does.
Fuck.
That's not one of my class go.
I know.
I mean, it's not recommended.
because what I've seen is people
are like, this is a waste of time
just to get more dialogue out of
H-K. What you get is... But is it a waste
of time? So I did it. Like, I'm
there. Right? Yeah, I just have
it. Like, Klan is already at
was at 16 repair
and I have plus one intelligence at 17.
So,
so the, what you can do
is, so you get this droid.
This droid is an assassin droid
that also has protocol functions.
And you can,
And his dialogue options are reveal that he has been damaged and his memory core has been damaged.
And so he doesn't know his own history outside of vaguely remembering that he used to, that he's an assassin droid and that he used to be able to go kill people.
Like that used to be his protocol is you could give him a name and tell him, go kill someone for me.
And he would go do it.
And so you have to, you pass checks at like nine, you know, 12, 15, and 17 or something like that in order to restore function.
to him and get a story about each of his previous masters in a lineage, basically. It's like,
who is your previous master? Who is your master before that? Who is your master before that? How far back can
you remember? And each time you get a little bit of a buff for him. So it's like you get plus
two to dexterity twice. Like the first one you get is plus two. The last one you get is plus two.
Then you also get a plus two to defense and then a total of plus two to regeneration. So he ends up
getting candorous's like regent ability too um and it's like he's decent at that point right he's still
not he's still not gonna be as good as a Jedi or as candorous probably but you know what he doesn't
do is talk shit when you're doing something a little evil in fact he's kind of egging you on constantly
so it's fun he's fun he likes he likes to do evil he's the most evil cited person in the party
currently easy easy but he is still your droid
And so when you tell him to make peace, he's got to do it.
He's great.
Yeah.
I definitely put him in my party immediately and was like fighting sand people with him.
And his bite is not as big as his bark.
You really have to repair him.
He cannot fight out there.
Damn.
Rip.
I have good stuff on him.
He was doing okay with me.
What type of armor do you have on him, All right?
Did you give him good stuff?
Oh, I did.
Yeah, you got to give him that.
I should have jumped.
So I gave you a candorice's blaster, me too.
He's going to be my heavy weapon's got.
And then I gave him a flamethrower.
Yep.
And a stun gun.
Yep.
And he's got a level two energy shield.
Yep.
And the plating is, I can't, truly, Allie, the basic plating that they start with is like plus two defense.
You can immediately give him a thing that's plus 10 defense.
Okay.
Yeah, the heavy, heavy droid blade.
It's meaningfully better.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'll be this in mind
So once I had him
Him and Mission were my partners
For the rest of the tattooing
Oh, why did you have mission with you?
Well, because this is the last non-location of Griff
And when you ask about Griff at Zirka
They're like, oh, there was this deadbeat sack of shit, Twilak
He just showed up and like
He was the worst guy on a shift
And we were hoping he could just leave.
Natalie?
Natalie covering her mouth?
I haven't brought
Mission has been on timeout in the ship for like years.
She doesn't come out.
In timeout?
She's a child.
Because she's a child and annoys me.
Oh, wow.
Look who's carthpelled.
So I don't know what's going to happen.
This is where I don't understand.
Are we going to find him?
Are we going to?
This is what I'm saying.
I don't know.
It might be too late for Natalie.
Oh my gosh.
Natalie.
Wait.
What do they tell you about, okay, you're in the Zirka office.
What do they say about Griff?
Wait, sorry.
Natalie, did you ever run into Lina?
Uh-oh.
Have you run into Lina yet?
I don't think I talked.
So that's why this didn't trigger.
You have to run into her, because you have to bring mission out and walk around.
Because she was on time out.
I hadn't brought her out.
Okay.
I don't...
I need a cycle 30 people more.
I don't think you could do this.
How could our most I'm baby panelists have hated the Evan hot baby?
Because I can't stand with someone's like, I'm baby, and for that reason, you should just forgive everything I do.
I'm mission.
I'm mission.
Wait, so can I go back to Dantuin and bring mission out?
I think you're...
You try.
I don't know.
No. So, Lina will show up in Dantuin, Cashik, or Corabon on the landing pad. I'm looking at the write-up of it now. What I don't know is if you already left Tatooine and did all that shit, if it's...
I think it'll be fine. Because unless, unless you killed all the sand people, like, every time we go back there, I'm like, oh, you know about this prisoner?
Did you? And they're like, please take the prisoner.
Did you kill all the sand people?
Did you kill the chieftain?
Wait, Natalie.
Oh, my God.
I'm sorry, Natalie, were you doing a dark side playthru?
I need experience.
I need the experience.
Oh, my God.
You get experience for lights on.
Austin, you said, you said you said you can get a lot of experience if you do something a little fucked up.
Yeah, you can.
Natalie finishing Bioshock
Wait, you get experience
You get the points if you don't eat the children
No, I did the right thing in Bioshock
Because it pays out better in the end
It does be
Oh, that's why
But wait, hold on
Okay, so I just went through my saves
I have one save
Right after I finished
the tier three
So I have my 80 bonds
I sold the other ones
The other saves are gone, so whatever.
You have the 80, though.
I have one with 80.
You'll sell those at, yeah.
Before I've spoken to Nico, I haven't talked to Nico yet.
And I think this is before I encountered, did my enclave encounter.
So I think if I leave now.
You should go immediately to Dantuin, run in Delana, and do this whole quest.
Okay.
Because you've missed a little bit.
Because I found an empty room when I was walking around.
There is a corpse in there
There is a corpse there
Even if you find Griff there is a corpse in there
I will confirm that because I made a note of that
Because I was thinking about Griff being in that room with the corpse
And what his experience
God, you have not met Griff
This is so funny
Do you want to save?
No, we got it we got I'm sorry
We're talking about Griff
Griff sucks
We'll get to Griff
But we do it like the Zirka people hated him
Yeah like he was
he was like clocking in and then hiding okay well okay griff might have actually secretly ruled in
some ways too he was like he was working for zirka he was like putting in his start time on a time
card and then disappearing for the duration of his shift and then signing himself out that's really
cool when you're working for the zirka corporation but i got to tell you if you've co-workers and
you're clocking and then clocking off the afternoon not great in my experience not great
hypothetically.
So
the other thing
so they were like
kind of glad
when he got kidnapped
because they didn't want
to lay him off
and they've got
everyone signs waivers
anyway
if you get like
abducted and kill
during a Zerk operation
it's like fine
so they're just like
we just don't
ask too many questions
about what happened
to Griff
and Mission is so down
on Griff now
she's like yep
that sounds like
Griff
Like, even though she denies it when you meet Lena, when you talk to her after, she's starting to suspect that, like, what Lena says is true, which is that Lena was the big sister, Mission never had, who was like, we got to bring your cool sister off Taurus so she can have a new life with us. And group was like, no, baby, it's you and me. It's not a place, it's not a place from Mission wherever we're going. Let's just leave her here. And so, like, Mission has been carrying around this anger at Lena for being the space.
Tramp, uh, who, like stole, who stole her brother. Um, and obviously it was, it was him all
long who, who does this. So you get, you get HK. Uh, you can talk to, you can, you can talk
the, you can talk to, you're still expensive. He's still expensive. 2500 credits. Put a big
dent in me again right away. Yeah. Yeah. Worth it though. And then, and then, and then, and then now you have
And so now you can go out into the Dune Sea.
There is another person.
I'm surprised no one's brought up here in Anchorhead.
I may be the only one who's run into her.
Did anyone meet Bastila's mom?
Huh?
No.
No one in the canteena, no?
Wait, I went off through that can'tina.
You may just need to advance the Bastila story further.
The Bastila, like, connection.
Have you been flirting with Bastila?
Maybe you've been flirting hard enough with Bastila.
Maybe I've advanced the Bastila.
Yeah, well, you want to meet her mom or not?
Maybe I should save this then until someone besides me has done the Bastila Mom quest.
Because it's interesting.
Do you have to have Basila out to encounter her?
You have to have, yes, for everyone's story, you need to have the person around for parts of it to trigger, right?
So you've got to be rotating people through in some to some regard, right?
right? Yeah. And some to some degree. Now, some people, their story doesn't just kick off
anywhere. So like, Big Z, you got to be on Kashik for his story stuff to start coming through.
You know what I mean? I think like Jahani doesn't have shit to say. I mean, Johani had shit
to say to me because Johani did start talking to me about, to Johani about like when she
first saw the Jedi on her home planet or when, yeah, and stuff like that. And she was like,
they were like, gods and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But like, she doesn't have a story to kick off
at this point, I don't believe. But Bastilla does.
Yeah, it seems like, and I guess maybe this isn't the case for the Bachela stuff, but it seems like most of the companion quests have a trigger in a spaceport.
Yes, that's right with Bastaela, too.
Oh, okay, where somebody, bring her out in the, in the tattooing docking bay.
What happened was someone ran up to us who was like, this woman Melaire was like, oh, Basila, how have you been your?
you're Helena's little girl, huh?
And she's, you grown up so much.
And Basta's like, I guess you know my mom.
She's like, yeah, me and your dad used to work together on a, we worked on the expedition.
Your mom showed me, like, pictures of you.
Anyway, like, how's your, how's your mom doing?
And you're, she, Basta's like, we're in a hurry.
She's, well, I just wanted to find out about your mom's condition.
And she's like, my mom's condition.
And she's like, oh, you don't know.
Actually, what she's like is Mucha Shakabaka, but...
Dude, Musha Shakabaka is so...
It's like...
It's everything.
It's everything.
It's everything.
It's nonstop.
But she's like, oh, you don't know?
Yeah, I thought...
I figured she would have found you because of, like, how she's sick and so desperate.
And Bass was like, I haven't talked to my mom since I went to the order.
And it's like, clearly there is beef between her and.
her mom. And you're like, well, where is her mom? And she's like, oh, she's, yeah, she's in the
canteena. And then as you approach the canteena, someone comes out and is like, y'all should
not go in the canteena. And you're like, why? What's going on? There's a woman in there
who thinks she fucking owns the place who is like being a huge asshole to everybody.
Oh my God. Yeah. Uh-huh. It's good. So you have to, I'm going to say, that's my T.
That's my tease.
Y'all have to get this Bastila stuff off the ground because we have to weigh in on who raised Bastila.
Because she remembers her parents.
There is none of this like, oh, that's a foggy memory.
Like she like knows what her dad did for a living.
She like loves and misses her dad.
You know what I mean?
I think one of the first conversations that you get with her just in terms of like getting to know her is her mentioning that she had a really close relationship with her dad.
but then her mom
Something, something.
Yeah.
So.
Yep.
So we shall find out.
But it seems like the strategy that people use when they replay this game or like every time you land on a new planet, bring everybody out into the space port and see if things pop.
And then you can have the start point for their companion.
They just meet past those mom in a bar if you flirt.
with her. So I got to take, I got to take her out of the, the, uh, Evan Hawk. But I think you specifically
and then be like, our connection means we're meant to be together, baby. I think it'll trigger even
if you haven't done this. I was teasing. I think what you do have to bring her out in the
spaceport, because otherwise that first step won't trigger. Yeah. So if you do the thing where
you're like out in the Dune Sea and you're like, let me just swap someone out for Bastila.
That's not, this lady's going to run up to you in the desert and be like, oh, Bastila,
you have to be in the space port. So that's where you should be more. Same with Lena and Mishis.
Yes, exactly, exactly.
Yeah.
Oh, here's she.
Damn, okay, Shottie.
Lina.
Natalie's looking at Lina.
No, I'm not.
I'm looking at Miss, Miss Helena's friend.
Oh, yeah.
I think it's the same model as Lina.
It's the like all white twilight with the,
with the, all white twilight with the, with the, with the,
with the, with the thigh highs on.
Oh, my gosh.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
I'm pretty sure what's her name?
It's Malare.
Is that right?
Malare.
I'm just going to double check.
I'm pretty sure it's the same person because they don't have that many models.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Here is we hop over into the chat.
Let's drop in.
There's Malere.
Helena's friend.
And then here's Lena.
It's basically the same person.
Wait, stop.
They needed some more Twillic bottles.
Oh, my God.
You know, they both got the, they both got the, they're both Instagram models.
They're both Instagram models.
They both got the boo window happening on the shirt, on the top.
That's the same person.
It's functional.
Yeah, Lena just has like a sepia filter.
Yeah, uh-huh.
At least this image, right?
Who even knows?
Same eye color even.
Okay, I got the Bastilleamom quest.
There you go.
I got to go back, I'll go back to Dantuin.
We don't have to do this today.
We can do this in the next episode.
No, no, yeah.
But I just want to make sure it's happening.
Yeah.
I had to go back to Dantuin because things were getting a little rough for me out on the Dune Sea.
And so I had to go back to Dantuin to see if I could finally take on those Mandalorians.
Could you?
Oh.
Well, the party was able to finish the fight.
There we go.
There you go.
Peak gaming.
That's it.
That's fine.
So, okay, so actually, let me just, why this game keeps giving you fucking minds.
Just everywhere.
Want more mines?
And then the combat doesn't remotely let you lay traps worth shit.
Even when it should, there's the bit in the middle of the Dune Sea where you can come to a sand crawler,
a Zerka sand crawler, and talk to some guys who are like, the Raiders are coming.
Help us.
And it's like, okay, here they come.
And I'm like, all right, let me set up some mines.
No, idiot.
You're just going to blow yourself up, Austin.
It doesn't.
There is a specific fight in this game that I remember winning.
There's two fights in this game.
that I remember as a kid beating via mines.
One of them was Bend-Dak Star Killer,
and the other one is the final boss of the game.
And I literally did that at the time
by putting on super speed,
running faster than the boss could,
and dropping mines in front of it.
And it's a fight where that makes sense
for reasons we can't get into quite yet.
Right.
I'll explain that later.
And maybe also there's another way
you could actually literally use mines
in that fight that was different.
So maybe that's what it was.
They're pretty useful in the online.
enclave.
I bet they are.
I bet.
I've had all those people, too, so I don't want to...
Okay, okay.
Now it comes out.
Okay.
Thank you.
Yeah, whenever people run at you, they seem to be useful.
No, but the problem is your dumb-ass party members will go running at them.
And so the fight will move away from wherever you put the mine
Or it'll happen by the mine and it will blow up and hit everyone
Your party, the enemy, et cetera.
It's just like they like and and big Z has been giving me mines
Instead of grenades.
Yeah, I've been checking my inventory.
It's like, well, where are my grenades?
Nope, fragmon, fragmon, fragmine, fragmine, fragmy, fragmy, it's all mines everywhere.
So I'm like, do I need to go spend money buying grenades?
Except then if you put any of your party members on the,
I'm like, do the grenadier thing.
Gone.
They will just, they won't shoot.
They won't shoot until every grenade is gone.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
They're like ion grenades.
It's like they're all biologicals.
What are you doing?
What do you do?
Yeah.
You're making them like a little fizzy.
This isn't anything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't trust, I don't trust the, the AI.
Me either.
I just keep it on regular.
It's become increasingly turn-based for me as I'm just like cycling between these guys.
You can.
Make it turn based on the options, by the way.
You can literally be like pause after every turn and let me give orders.
I have that on.
But it takes so long.
There's the cycling through everyone.
Yeah.
It's easier to give specific orders for sure.
Yeah.
But yeah, I went back there.
I killed those Mandalorians with my buddy, uh, candoris.
And he was like, hell yeah.
Let's do it.
And actually, okay, so I actually had to get jacked up on all my drugs, too.
Okay.
Well, sure.
They're good drugs.
Yeah
You got to use them
You get those drugs in Dupps though
He's a beast
Yeah
I believe it
Is like those like
You know stories in the 90s
About like you know
Feets of Angel Dust
If people were on it
Sure
That's how Dup's is
With like battle stems
And so like suddenly
He's hitting things
Reliably
It's great
Have you talked to Candace more
And got more
Mandelorian War stories
Yeah
I think I've gotten
All of the rest of them maybe
Because he basically
started talking about like he he's at the point now where he was telling me about the war with
the republic and the war against reven and like what you know how he may be killed a bunch of
civilians so you know you could have not done that and he's like you know they could have
not fought which is like yikes dude i don't know man anyway he does talk a lot about
how Revin is the coolest guy in the world
and how close they were
to capturing everything and how like they don't even
he's like I don't even mind that we lost because
Revin's just like so hot
it's basically how the Jedi were too
yeah basically yeah man it's a shame that our
biggest dream boat
went bad
he was so strong so big
so big
so
so
went out there in the Duncy
sand people appearing
ambushing you.
It's a JRP out there.
You'll get random battles out there.
It's awesome.
I fuck with it.
Did anyone fall for the trap?
Who, which was the trap?
You kind of have to fall for the trap, don't you?
Well, because, like, I feel like
in times that I've replayed this game,
I've walked it, I've walked straight to the sand crawler,
and you immediately get caught in that, like, three-wave fighting
with the sand people, and it's like, this sucks.
I'm dying.
I still haven't done it because...
There's no point to it.
And the second wave just wiped me out.
I was like, I can't handle a second wave.
But I burned a ton of the battle stimulants on it, for sure.
That was, like, very easy for me.
Oh.
You found the best build.
I don't know.
Something's working about my shit.
Let's go.
I don't know what's going on, but I haven't had, like, any problems with fights.
Fittingly enough, Natalie's on that Anakin program.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Animals, slaughter them, like animals for all that XP.
Really powerful.
I don't know what's going on.
But I don't think you actually get anything for like, you mean, you get the XP in winning the fight, but that's it.
Yeah.
And then you talk to the miners and they're like, uh, we're going to go home now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I do love that they're taught when people are talking about like a bait, like when Zerka pulls out, they're going to just going to bail all the equipment.
They're going to abandon all the equipment in C2 and be like, I don't know.
Jawa is like, you know.
What are they going to do with a sand crawler?
And it changes Jawa civilization where they become like sand crawler dwelling nomads for the next forever.
That's what I would do if I had a sand crawler.
Sand crawler seems sick.
You and your buddies just hanging out.
This is the biggest RV.
The biggest RV.
Yeah.
It's true.
It's the Dune C.
We're talking about a boat.
It's a boat.
You need to go on a cruise.
We got to go on an actual cruise.
AMCA Cruz
2024
We got it all
Cosplay as Jawa
Tall Jawa
We're tall
So we can be like
Multiple Jawa standing on top of each other
You know?
Yeah
That's funny
I'm like Jawa height
You are like Jawa height
That's true
You can be a tall Jawa though
Yeah
But
Anyway
You take their clothing
Actually there's one other thing
In the Dune Sea
That we have to talk about
Which is the wife guy
The ex-wife guy
We have to introduce him
Life guy.
Right.
You first run into him.
So the first in the hunting, in the hunting lodge.
Yet again, like the, sorry, like the dueling place on Taurus and like the swoop racers on Taurus, this is a game about going into a room and finding like six types of guys who all have a job, the same job.
And being like, so what do you believe?
And they all talk shit about each other.
Exactly.
Exactly.
There's like the old veteran always who was like, I guess my time here is over.
Oh, wait, pause.
There's the dude.
guy?
Sorry, the swoop guy is great.
I love the old sloop guy, but before that,
the guy in the canteena who has the
wildest voice I've ever heard in my life,
what is his name?
Oh, my God. Why have I lost it?
Oh, the one, like,
you...
Not funkopopop.
Gandroff is his name Gandrov.
Yeah, Gandrov, the old swoop guy.
Oh, is he an old swoop guy?
Is he? Yeah. Okay, he's a soup guy.
I just remember his voice being wild.
He's like a, like a
somewhere in the UK accent.
Right?
I don't, is that right?
No, there's a Zerka guy who's very, like, English.
Yeah, yeah, the Zerka guy is English.
The guy who's like, you swoop racers.
No, it's more like, it's more like, like, brutish.
I don't know how to describe it.
It was so, it was, it was not a voice actor anyone else has gotten.
It was not an accent that anyone else in the game so far has gotten.
Yeah.
No, no.
He can, the thing that he keeps doing is he'll be like, oh,
well past my prime by any measure
I started late too
now not like the kids out there now
some of them are some of them are too young
hmm hmm and he gives these little hum hum
he'll finish his own yeah hmm
it's like you're just a particular
dude in the world like that's
they found a way out of there
someone had fun writing you
anyway yes the soup bike place and the
Hunter's Guild both or the hunting lodge
both have like it's the old
veteran it's the guy who's
you know the up and comer it's the one
who believes in the old ways.
It's the one who's trying to figure out his way in.
He's the rookie.
And there's, in this case,
the hack.
The fucking hack.
The fucking anti-wife guy.
So he's the dude who's like going hunting with like the AR-15 and the night vision goggles.
And like the baits and all that stuff where it's like what he did is he brought a small squad of battle.
droids to tattooing to have them basically just massacre wildlife and then he would like scoop up
the the trophies yeah yeah and he does mention what hunting's about that's right when you meet him
he keeps making these weird wife jokes i mean it's it's like the our bartender at ogus can'tina
what my wife send you huh okay but if you're a if you're a woman he is like trying
to get it.
Yes.
He is like, hello, hello, darling.
Oh, no, I see.
He is, and I...
I need to tell you, so I have a, there's a strategy wiki.org guide for this game that
Ali and I have been using and referencing that has all of the dialogue in the game.
And normally, the way that it depicts difference in gender conversations is that there will be a slightly different,
there will be like two options next to one another.
that has, like, one of them is blue and one of them is red
because this is the way the world has decided
to talk about gender, right?
But, like, you know, it's like, okay,
here's the blue option, here's the red option, right?
So this is like the classic, you know, Bastila,
when you say something flirty with her as a guy,
or if you say like, oh, the second one, which is about,
she's like, would you rather just keep annoying me?
And you can be like, oh, the second one.
And she'll be like, I hope you're a little less,
like a little boy and more like a man,
instead of just saying,
hopefully you'll be a little more mature
if you're a woman.
Normally that's how it renders this.
For this dude that you're talking about now,
it's a whole different conversation trait.
It's not the blue versus pink.
It is literally just entirely different.
It's wild.
What are you telling you?
It explains why what happens happens.
But yeah.
So because with us, he's like,
he makes a joke.
Okay, this one was kind of funny.
Uh, he was like, let's say some of my adventures, uh, you know, sometimes you're out there and you're, you're running to a Sith, uh, battle cruiser. And it's like, wow, what'd you do? He's like, buddy, I married her. Ah, walka, walka, walka. God. Right. But he tells versions of that joke every five seconds. Like, everything is like, man, my wife. Uh, also refers to the fact that, like, he had a hunt go bad. And his wife had to spend like three days without sleep repairing his droids for his next hunt.
uh so like he he goes out there with his droids they do the work he comes back his wife
fixes the droids right he goes and drinks and turns in the trophies and drinks with
buddies Natalie talking to him as a female character he's not making just wife jokes
no no he's like openly talking about cheating on his wife constantly
the whole like while you're talking to him
it's so unhinged
and you can like be like all right
shut the shit down like stop
stop it and he's like
okay all right my bad
and then he like gets on to talking about
his hunting and stuff but like he
tries to make a pass at you basically the whole conversation
I'm trying to see if I have a screenshot
there's it can I spoil a thing that
we will not see.
Yeah.
If you're a woman who shows up here with Jolie, who's the Jedi we have not recruited
yet, the next character to recruit, he will force persuade this dude when he's hitting
on you to not hit on you anymore.
What?
That's wild.
That's sick.
Uh-huh.
Shout out to him.
I need Jolid my party.
Where's Jol-Lie?
We're going to go get him.
Jolie's next.
Cashik.
Is she?
Can't wait to meet him.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so I immediately was like, I hope this person.
Sorry, I just remembered something about Jolie.
This is making sense to me.
We'll wrap back around on this.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
Allie's remembered.
Allie's remembered what Jolie's whole thing is.
Okay.
Uh-huh.
So he, he, the other hunter,
whenever you talk to the other hunters,
you can ask them
like what they think
of the other hunters
in the room
and everyone talks shit
about this guy
everyone's like
this guy sucks ass
um
now I do want to call out
it is possible
for you also
to be someone
who hunts with droids
and no one seems
to raise an eyebrow
about that
you theoretically
it could be you
and HK
and T3
and no one seems to mind that
well
you're in it together
yeah I guess
you're in it together
he seems
like he's not even raising a blaster pistol.
Yeah.
I guess that's different.
Yeah, no.
Well, and also, like, battle droids seem like they're a little more like, like, a deployable swarm.
You know what I mean?
It's not like, right, because you see them.
They are not just like guys.
They are floating.
Where do we find him again?
In the Dune Sea.
You walk out.
First, somebody approaches you before.
This is true.
Before you walk out.
And guess what?
It's the anti-wife guy's fucking wife.
Uh-huh.
And she is like, have you seen my piece of shit husband anywhere?
Because I'm sure you have, because he's probably tried to have a thing with you.
Oh, that's where she's.
Oh, that's so much better.
Yeah, the energy she has with you when you're a woman is intense.
It's, she's like, have you encountered him?
I bet, I wouldn't be surprised.
And she's like, why don't you give him a message for me?
Why don't you go tell him that I hope he enjoys our anniversary present that I left him?
And she tells you that like she was always kind of like the behind the seat.
Like she's like been the person like repairing his, like he wouldn't be able to do his hunting operations if it wasn't for her because she's the genius at repairing droids and like fixing them up.
and making them really good
so that he can hunt with them.
But she knows that he's been sleeping around
and she is fucking done with his shit.
So please wish him a happy anniversary from her.
And you can say like, hey, it sounds like you're trying to kill him.
And she'll be like, I mean, does it matter?
I'm going to be off this planet.
As soon as this conversation ends.
The most brutal thing she says is if he's smart, he'll get out of it.
But he's not smart.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's very good.
When you mean it like running into his guy, running into her as a guy, she's like you hunters are like just, I'll bet you just cover for him.
But you know, you just all look out for each other, your old boys club.
It's like everyone hates him.
Everyone thinks your husband sucks.
Like nobody's covering for this guy.
They're covering more of the gamarians.
So everyone know was killing people.
Right, 100%.
But you know that when he comes home, he's like,
I mean,
and the boys went out for another real hunt tonight.
Yeah.
You got to fix the droids up, though, babe.
Thanks.
And that is not the case.
No one likes him.
They are, though.
You're right, Rob, covering for the Gammorians who...
Just be careful around the Gammorians.
And it's like, they're just killing people out in the desert.
Like, they're just doing that.
Uh-huh.
Yep.
And they have a dumb.
We'll get to that in a second, but when you run into them, it's like the, they can't stop snickering over all the people they're killing.
Yeah.
And so, like, maybe we'll see you out there.
Maybe before you see us.
And it's like, shut up.
You shut up, you shut up.
Yeah, it's so good.
God, there was a bit, too.
They started to get into it.
And when I was like, no, you're stupid.
No, you're stupider.
No, you're stupider-ist.
And missions like, this could go on a while.
Yeah.
I think that they never turned into anything for me
because I just threatened them in the hunting lodge.
They never, like, jumped me.
They never like, oh, really?
Yeah, I think that, which I feel bad about
because I would have, I'll take that XP.
I tried to take that XP, but I couldn't.
So.
Oh, I should kill them.
Were you not able to persuade them in the desert?
I've never waited in the desert
I don't know if they ever got to the desert
with me I persuade them saying
I tried to kill them there's a trap
you have to go to the a trap
did you find a woman
yelling yeah oh you know what that did happen to me
and then that you're right I think I just persuaded them down
yeah Rob is that what you did or did you end up fighting them
I persuaded them but then I wanted to fight them because they suck so bad
but starting in the fight with like my character
basically on no HP it was just a
little tricky.
I probably should have left it for later
and I could have gotten through it,
but whatever.
But yeah, so you find
wife guy.
He's stuck out there in the desert
surrounded by his droids.
Yeah, anti-wife guy.
You stuck, he's surrounded
by his droids.
And they've all gone, they've all gone
a little haywire and they won't let him move.
And he's getting very thirsty.
And so you can
either burn all your repair tools
to fix the droids.
or you can solve a series of puzzles.
Uh-huh.
No.
Or you can do none of those.
I see.
You can tell him, yeah.
I love that you could be like, well, how about I'm just going to stand here and drink some water in front of me, buddy.
Yes, I did that.
He gets so bad at you and then he's like, if you're going to do that, well, I'm just going to attack you.
Let's see who gets out of here.
And everything explodes.
And it takes like four HP from you and he's lying on the ground.
It's very funny.
Incredible.
I think the way that played out for me was like, he was like, please, I, she knew,
my wife knew I couldn't, I can't fix these droids.
If you can repair them, like maybe, like, you know, I can be free.
I'm so thirsty, please.
And I was like, I can't remember the order in which I said this, but I think I said something
like uh what's in it for me like what are you going to do for me and he's like uh you know i'll
get you something i'll i'll whatever and i'm like okay i think i'll just watch you rot here
and he's like what how are you going to do that and i'm like oh no first i said i think i'll
take a the the line is like i think i'll i'll drink this ice cold water i have here and he's like
how could you be so cruel or something he's like come on please and i'm like no i
think you should rot in right here and he's like well no you standing around and he just like is
like I better just end it now and he just takes a step forward and explodes and it's so like he was
he was over it he was just like I'm out um so yeah and then I and I looted everything yeah I he had to
die apparently if you save him as a lady
At the end of it, he goes, now, my dear lady, I'm a seed of your reward.
Will earthly delights suffice?
No way.
Or I suppose not, he says.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.
Yeah.
If you bring Bastilla in that conversation in the like preamble before you can get to the
the point at which when he's like, you know, my wife, my wife doesn't understand,
Bastilla is like, you should leave him out here.
Damn.
Like, even she's that.
She's a girl's girl.
Uh-huh.
The end of the day.
You know?
She understands the situation.
Apparently.
Love that for her.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Wow.
The line that she said, she says, I say leave him.
And then Tannis says, you're pretty heartless for such a pretty lady, you know.
And Bassett says, I take it back.
Let's congratulate his wife.
Who.
Do you get XP for letting him die?
Yeah.
Yeah, you always get XP for letting come on.
I want to know what the, should I have let him?
Should you've killed him?
I rescued him for XP and also in puzzle slut.
You are a puzzle slut.
I'm always saying this about you.
Let's see here.
You get, uh,
maybe you just got the darksided points.
Maybe you just get the dark sided points.
Yeah,
I think no experience whatsoever is received.
You get, you get four dark side points and you get no experience.
That is worth that.
I think if you.
Fight them outright, you would get XP.
Like, if you attacked them...
The droids?
The droids plus him.
Maybe you even have to...
If you rescue him, threaten him to pay you more, or force persuade him to pay you more.
And then kill him.
Because you can then say, if you can't convince him, you could be like, I'm going to take it from your...
out of your hide.
Then you get to kill him.
And then that gives you a challenge.
rating XP, right? That's the way XP works. It's like it's based on what your challenge rating is at
certain levels and stuff. So like if you're level 10 and you kill him, then you get a hundred and
fifty eight XP, right? For him and then another hundred for each of the droids or something like
that. So like that might be the most XP you can get, you know, point for point, but it's worth all
that. You know what I mean? I don't know. What it's worth doing is I did the puzzles and got and got a
bunch of XP from that. So 400 XP for that. I don't even know what he gave me as a reward.
400 XP and the, um, the thermal detonator, which I used to basically instant kill Calenord.
Oh, okay. I should have done that. Yeah. Oh, I think one of my dumbass, uh, partners use the thermal
detonator randomly before I had a chance to use it. Because there's a point where I saw HK fling something and
then like everything died. Yep. And I was like, uh, where my grenades go?
Probably the thermal detonator.
Let me tell you.
60 damage on that thing.
Garbage.
If they pass the reflex saved, they still take 30 damage.
So, very good.
Contrast that with the plasma grenade that is 36 damage.
So it's like twice as much.
Anyway.
So you go through all the duncy.
You get your, you get your sand people outfits.
And I guess if you're not Natalie, you are ready to do the quest the way the game basically tells you to do the quest.
No, I did it that way.
Yeah, Natalie rapped back around.
Okay, I thought you killed everyone.
After.
Yeah.
This is, yes.
Okay.
Oh, wow.
I had a bug.
Yeah.
Also, I feel like that's the way the gate, I feel like this is also the way that I played it as a kid that I was wearing the clothes.
Yeah.
But when you get into the enclave, everybody still fights here.
Yeah.
So there's like an entry, there's an area called Sand People Territory.
You pass through sand people territory
There's mines that you can recover or disable
And there's a bunch of like banthal walking around
Along with some other people
And eventually you get to the front
And there's some turrets set up
And they will fucking kill you
If you're not in the disguise
But you go inside
And what's supposed to happen is
A guy supposed to see through your costume
Your disguise and be like, wait a second
What the fuck are you doing here?
And you can be like, oh peace, peace, peace, piece, peace
I just want to talk to your guy
And then he'll lead you to the chief to talk
But there's a real bug
And there's a couple ways the bug can trigger
one of them is if you've saved and loaded the save
after you've put the disguise on
one of them is if you've gone back to the Evan Hawk
in the disguise and come back
there's like all sorts of ways it can forget
that you're in the disguise in which case
if you talk to anyone
that might be it too sure it like corrupts
like if you reload it'll still think
people will still be agro
even if you have a previous save
and you talk to someone
it'll bug the save
the previous save
it's wild because I didn't
it right the first time. Then y'all were talking about how it wasn't working. I was like,
what are you talking about? It's not working. So I, like, loaded my save and then, and couldn't get it to
work then. But I'd loaded the save. And so it, so what I ended up doing is going back to the
Eben Hawk and then coming back and then quickly hitting pause and putting on the outfit again.
And that worked. And so I was able to approach it and go inside and get led to the chief.
And the chief is like, you suck. You're, but okay, but you're not killing all my people. So why
not, let's talk, right? And HK is like, listen, be careful, master. Like, you could say some wrong
shit here. Um, and you've very carefully talked to him and he's basically like, listen, we're
leaving, but we need moisture vaporators or moisture collectors to do that. Uh, and we wouldn't need
of those moisture collectors. I hate using all your, your stupid Zirka technology. The shit is,
is gross. It's unholy. We don't want to touch it. You people don't know how to live life.
the right way. You keep like putting yourselves between yourselves and nature, uh, but give us
these moisture vaporators and, and we can, we'll, we're not going to stop attacking, but we'll reduce
the attacks and then we're going to leave. Right. And if you're like, no, we, I need you to stop
attacking. He's like, all right, guess what? You're dead. We're going to kill you. You'd like really be
like, all right, those are your terms. I'm going to go negotiate based on your terms. Uh, and it goes
fine. And that's the, that's the, like, the right way to do it. Um, and you can't, there's other stuff
you can't get from this conversation at this point, he won't tell you the history of his people
because you're just like some schmuck. And I believe even at this point, if you're like,
if you let him know that you're wearing stolen clothing. Oh, this is such a, yeah,
which I love. There's a point where you can, well, I think. Is it after? That comes,
so you can kind of ask him questions, yeah, ask him questions about like the sand people about their
culture. H.K. warns you like, oh, this,
this can go bad, there's one point where you can say, like, why are you all so wrapped up?
Like, why do you, why do you stay so wrapped up?
And if, oh, because you're asking about, like, their connection to the land.
And he explains that, like, the sand people have, like, a really strong connection to the land.
And for that reason.
You raise yourself a better reason.
Like, you raise yourself above the land, right?
I loved all of this.
This was, like, this was so good.
And, like, you're supposed to connect to the land.
the soil through your flesh.
You're not supposed to ride machines.
You've got to ride on animals because they're connected to the soil and their holy
animals and blah, blah, blah.
This is like what's wrong with your people is that you've disconnected yourself so far
from, um, and then, yeah, the thing you can say, if you're, if you're, because he's like,
don't ever take off, we don't take off the robes.
Even in death.
Even in death.
And you'd be like, really?
Not even in, uh, not even in death.
And he's like, yeah.
Never, never in death.
And then you can say, tell him I apologize for unwrapping his warriors.
And HK is like, uh, is that wise master?
And it goes bad if you continue and you say it because.
I backed out at that point.
Yeah, yeah.
You'll have admitted that you've desecrated their dead.
Does he just fight you?
Yeah, yeah.
Then everybody goes violent inside.
Okay, sure.
Because you desecrated they're dead.
Yeah.
They're like on a hair trigger.
They're like, you should not be here.
Yes.
I don't fuck with you at all.
The only reason why you're here is because maybe you can source like these vaporators for us.
Yeah, yeah.
If you fuck up one time, they are ready to squab.
Like, immediately we are fighting.
Yes, we are boxing immediately.
Yeah.
HK explicitly is like, Master, I think they thought they were replicas.
You're like, I don't think that they understood that you stole these rags from their dead.
Yeah.
Which is very funny.
Anyway, so that's the way that, like, you get that mission.
The mission is go tell them we want moisture vaporators.
You can go back to the Zerka office.
They let you go.
You go back to the Zerka office.
You talk to the person at the Zerka office.
You can tell the person at the Zerka office like, listen, man, what do we just give them to me?
Just give them to me for half or whatever, right?
They're not, you're not pay.
Like, this doesn't come out of your pay.
Fuck them.
You can get the moisture vaporators and go back to the chief.
And the chief is like, all right, cool, fine.
We'll reduce our attacks.
here's my gaffy stick to like seal the deal which is kind of weird it feels very like I'm like why you don't need to give me this yeah I didn't earn we didn't that wasn't part of our deal necessarily but I do need it to complete the quest so yeah I wonder does does anybody know how it would work if you just kill everybody how do you get to the StarForge I think Aziz probably can tell you the way okay sure maybe oh because Aziz is like hey can you can you figure this
out, can you not kill them?
And then I guess you can go back to Aziz and just be like, listen, I did what I had to.
Oh, because Aziz is telling you because he wants you to save.
His people.
He's got, he has, he has, he is, he is in that.
Okay.
Yes.
That's what I think.
I think that if you have, that's my guess.
Okay.
I forget the Javas are also in a prison and not just mission.
Yeah.
Yes.
Both of them.
Correct.
Yeah.
So once the vaporator deal is done.
You can ask about, like, hey, you got a, you got Griff.
You got Mission's brother here.
And they're like, oh, you mean the worst prisoner in history?
They do say that.
You mean, you mean tattooing shittiest slave.
They do say that.
You need a guy so toxic that we're pleading with, like, we don't even want to kill him.
Yeah.
It's such a waste of energy.
Yeah, you take it.
Yeah, HK is like, I don't think they would even notice that you took him.
They hate him so much.
So you find him
And
For the most part
I would say
Twylex
Brain tails
Are not tentacles
Griff's kind of are
Like he is
A slime ball Twylek
Could someone supply me
With a picture of Griff
He just looks like the guy
He's the guy
One second
He's all of these shitty
here we go
but he's like got
oozy looking
like
they're a little moist
they are moist
you're right
also he looks older
than I thought
he looks old
he sounds older
than you think he does
he needs
sunscreen
yeah
so yeah
so he
you meet him
and he is
uh
immediately
like
a huge
piece of shit.
Like, mission is, is appalled to find, like, to sort of see him for who he really is.
And he doesn't miss a beat.
He's just like, yeah, man, things got so, I was going to bring you, I was going to send for
you.
Just, you know, things got, this got so crazy out here.
It's so expensive on tattooing.
Business wasn't good.
I mean, he, she'll be like, wait, Lena said that, that it was your idea to leave me on
terrace.
Is that, that's not true.
And he's like, well, there's the truth, and then there's the truth, you know?
Like, as soon as I had the money to pay off the debt, I would have been back, but, you know, money.
It's hard to get money out here.
And he's right about that, dirtbag.
And then he hits you up for cash.
Yep.
So he's like, maybe, you know, got a, he asked mission if there's money.
She's like, nothing for you, scumbag.
He's like, well, what's talking to you?
I was talking to your friend here.
You get any money?
I got a little, like, maybe there's still 50 credits, 100 credits.
I just need to get back on my feet, man.
And I was like, eh, fuck it.
I gave him 100 credits, see what happens.
Why?
Yeah, nothing.
Do you still run into him later if you do that?
Okay, that's good.
So he runs off to these, like, I got a line on the job for Zerka.
I'll, I'll, I'll, remember the shopkeep of the Zerka Corp?
He said I can come be his assistant.
So he runs off.
You talk to the chieftain and you just be like,
I want to know the history of your people.
It's like, we don't tell this to our people to outsiders.
Only our storyteller has our history,
and he only tells the history to very important people.
Well, how do I become a very important person?
And almost as a joke, the chiefsons is like, well,
I don't know, you do some amazing feat, like bring a,
crate dragon pearl in, sure.
And then you can meet the storyteller.
Just so happens, we know where he knows where
Crate Dragon might be.
Oh.
And so you can just wander, it's like 20 feet over there.
You wander across the desert a little bit.
Yeah.
And you find a big cave.
Yeah.
And then the greatest hunter, a Fortuna.
Yeah.
Oh, he is a Fortuna.
A great precursor to Bib Fortuna.
Yeah.
Oh, how that family is.
fallen. Because this is the most traditional. This is the most honorable and greatest of
hunters. And when you meet him, he's got this thing cornered. His dumbass assistant is
like, I'm bored. I'm gonna go I'm gonna go one V one the crate dragon and walks in and goes
ah. Yeah. And that's the end of him. Did he miss the the the plan? The preplan? Like why did he
just go in there? What he said? He's like how big of this how big can this dragon of yours be? I'm
going in. My man. You can see.
see it. It is right there. I can see it from outside the cave. It's as big as the cave is.
So you meet this guy and he's like, we got it cornered, but I'm need help killing it. I've set up mines outside. You have a whole discussion about like, is this good? Is this ethical hunting? And he's like, no. Yeah. But some other factors are forcing our hand here, which is that like he is the, he is trying, he's
more like a park ranger in some ways than just a hunter where he's like the problem is things have
fallen out of balance uh like the bantha population and the crate dragons keep each other in balance
uh but throw one off out of whack the other gets out of whack yeah and so now we've got
that happening plus a bit of the crate dragons roaming territory is like encroaching on settlement
he's like we can't we can't have that's not good for anyone so regrettably
we have to do it this way.
So the plan is you got to go
lure some bantas over to lure
the crate dragon out, but some really strong
like absolutely shredded sand people
are going to show up.
These eastern dunes sea sand people are not
like the sand people you met elsewhere.
These are some like real sand
people.
Be ready.
Punks.
And I
did not
you were not ready
I've got tons of cash but I'd never
feel like confident like
there's a lot of cool little weapons and armor
that like you know are upgradable
they look good but like what should I have
and I made the call
to really get like
none of the above
oh
you sit on the money just in case something special comes around
yeah so you've not upgraded your gear
in a minute in other words
no no particularly
I probably need to have mission kidded out
with a better sniper rifle.
Sure.
And so I didn't realize that
like from the bantha to the crate
like there'd be a sequence of fights here.
Yeah.
And I just went to it.
And also I didn't stock up on med kits
because I was like, I can heal.
Dup's can heal people.
Can't heal a droid.
So who was your whole team?
Your team was you mission candorous?
No.
U mission HK.
HK.
Yeah.
He was still.
Yeah.
So I didn't have a lot of
A ton of droid repair kits.
So the fight with the sand people wasn't that bad.
But also, I was stunned that we don't fight the crate dragon.
Floored.
That's all this buildup.
Rob, I remember fighting the crate dragon.
It's just not real.
You just don't fight it.
It just blows up.
It just, it fights.
You have the mine set up.
You lure the bantha's over.
You fight the sand people who are trying to defend the bantas.
You kill them.
You bring the bantas all the way the rest of the way.
and you kill the crate dragon.
Somehow that makes you a great hero.
I don't know in the eyes of the sand people.
I don't think you would technically if you told the story the right way.
I don't think they know how that shit went down.
That's the crucial part.
Because if they knew that what you did was kill a bunch of sand people to lure their bantas over to...
To then just lure out the crate dragon into some mines?
Yeah, no honor.
Also, comment.
No honor.
What type of minds you got, homie?
Who's your mind guy?
Because my minds don't do this.
We need a new mind guy.
We got to talk to Big Z about this.
Give me the plug.
Like, what's going on?
Big ZA making him like that.
No.
So the guys who jump you are level 9.
And at this point, because of the level I'm at, the main guys who were attacking me on the
Dune C were level 10 and 12.
So, like, they really were.
nothing compared to the
the ones who had already
been dealing with for the last five
hours or whatever, you know?
But yeah,
then you go inside
the cave.
Well, first...
You talked to that guy first.
Yeah.
Okay, so this is where my beef
with candorous is lies.
Because you have to
there's an opportunity
presented to you in the dialogue here
and he says
okay let's split the winnings
these crate pearls are
really valuable
and I think I said like
I feel like I did
and this is how I felt
well
if it wasn't for me
would he have done that I don't know
I'm a little like I feel like I kind of put in a lot of work
He laid the minds down, sure.
He came up with the plan, et cetera.
But I had to go kill like six dudes who I'm forming a peace treaty with right now.
So I felt like I deserved, you know, all of the winnings.
And he, Canderas was really upset by that.
He was like, he was like, you would be so dishonorable.
You had an agreement.
And you would be so dis— Meanwhile, every time I fucking force persuade someone to give me more cash, he's like, ha ha, yeah.
This is different.
He says, we Mandalarians believe in loyalty to our brothers and arms.
You have allied yourself to this hunter.
Betraying him now is disgraceful.
This is what you want your boy to say, because he's your boy.
He allied himself with you.
I want him to have that perspective.
That's right, right.
This is true.
But you're right.
Everybody shit talks you if you do this.
Mission is mad at you.
Jahani is mad at you, Zalbar says, you would betray this noble, Zalbar who says nothing ever.
Zalbar says, you would betray this noble hunter.
At times like this, I regret ever swearing my life debt to one such as you.
He's not even that noble.
He's not even that noble.
Oh, that's brutal.
It's brutal.
I got Cand nurse and Carth being like, yo, are you for real right now?
And I was like, yeah, I'm for real right now.
I'm extremely for real right now.
Do you know what HK says?
What does HK say?
Preparing blasters, master.
This should be fun.
I love him.
HK is here to have a good time.
Yeah.
Listen, I'm just out here hunting.
Most dangerous game, you know?
Yeah.
I don't trust this guy could have turned on me in any moment.
Exactly.
You know?
Keep your arms up.
You'll keep your hands up, you know?
It's on him.
I wanted that second crate dragon pearl is the thing.
Yeah.
There's a lot of different.
uses for them.
They're really good in your
lightsaber.
They're like extremely good
in your lightsaber.
That's where it's sitting
right now.
Uh-huh.
I'll let me tell you
something real quick.
Because the other way
you can use it,
you go sell it.
You can also go give it
to the sand people
to get their deep lore.
Or Bastila,
who is like,
this betrayal is beneath you.
Do not let your greed
draw you to the dark side.
You ain't saying that shit
when I give you the crate
dragon pearl,
the second one to put in your
lightsaber though.
You were like,
yeah, put that in there.
Because I have two of them
And two of my lightsabers
Have prey dragon pearls now
That's what I'm doing
I know the deep lore
About the sand people
I don't get XP from that
I mean I do too now
That's what I'm saying
And I still got that pearl on me
We play a video games
What are we doing?
This is a video game
I'm gaming
We are
We're gamers
We're gamers first and foremost
Gamers revolution now
It's not that much money
is the other thing.
I remember DMA you, Austin, being like,
Scrate Dragon Pearl is worth like $500 or something.
Yeah, it's not worth it for the money.
It's worth it for what it does in your lightsaber.
That is like the thing it is good for.
Yeah.
It does.
So like, yeah, I don't know if y'all are like keeping your lightsabers upgraded.
But the crate Dragon Pearl is like one of the top level ones, period.
It's a flat plus three to hit and a flat plus two damage on attacks.
Like, it's just.
Rob's face
Rob looking like someone who had like
IBM stock in 1970
and sold, you know what I mean?
Rob had that Apple stock and was like,
I think that it's done now.
PC's all the way.
Nobody wants a personal computer.
Yeah, uh-huh, yeah.
It'll never work.
I can't believe.
I let that guy.
How your saves looking, Rob.
There are other really good crystals.
You'll be five pounds of good crystals.
What did you do with that?
Did you sell it to the fucking guy in the hunting?
Rob went and gave it to be a good warrior, right?
Oh.
To get the lore.
A lot of that story.
You didn't kill the sand people looking about it.
That's what Natalie did, presumably.
No, I, well, I got the vaporators back.
You probably got the crystal back too then.
I would have gotten the crystal back if I just saved scum, though.
I said.
Okay.
So the thing that he's Rob frozen?
Rob blue screen.
Hold on.
Rob is frozen on this.
I thought he was still in shot.
So the screenshot.
Please screenshot.
Please hit the button.
We lost Rob.
Rob for real just disappeared.
I thought Rob was just still astounded at this.
Me too.
It's so funny.
It's so funny.
Oh, I'm dying.
I'm going to go get more water.
I'll be right back.
Okay.
I'm going to try out to die
Rob's back
Oh I'm saying
Rob are you actually back
Nope
Rob I got a different face from Rob
Oh Rob's here
Is Rob actually here?
Rob's actually here
Okay hello
All right we're good
Hi
Thank God
Welcome back
I didn't know that
Every time you fly between
planets you have to do
The funny space battle
It's not every time
It's a random
It's too many times
You don't get XP from it
I don't think either so
I had some real trouble
getting off of Gavin
It's annoying
Oh god
Anywho
So yeah
So what happened
What did you do with the crate parole
Rob just to confirm
Yeah
I presented it
To the sand people
So I could
Prove myself a noble warrior
And get the story
And you know what
It was a good story
Yeah it's a great story
It's a great story
Tell us what the deal is
With the sand people
Like the history of tattooing
Yeah
So basically
I suspect they're talking
about the people who made the star map and the Star Forge.
Mm-hmm.
But as they put it, back in like their prehistory, they know that they're part of an advanced
society on tattooing a green and lush world.
Yeah.
But their ancestors, they got to, they were too haughty.
They raised great cities and no longer lived in the land, but above it.
They placed themselves above the land.
And then the building.
showed up.
Yeah.
And, like, rapture a bunch of their cities.
There's this line where he's like, the, the, this, you know, the leader of our tribe then,
his people touched the stars and the sin drew the attention of the builders.
The builders did not touch the stars.
They lashed them to millstones.
Banger.
That's the Star Forge, right?
Yep.
That's the Star Forge, for sure.
So, by the way, as you're getting the story, H.K. keeps editorializing and telling you like, okay, so this is what these dumbasses think this means, but actually what we can probably surmise here. So their whole story is they were, they were a proud technologically advanced society that had grown indifferent to the environment and took it for granted. And in their hubris, they were punished by an even more advanced society showing up that enslaved.
them and like wreck their world and like wrecked their cities at least and like seized a bunch of
their people over the coming long period centuries maybe they prepared resistance against this
empire and they eventually rose up in revolt and the sit the planet was glassed it was like
literally they talk about the planet being turned to glass in places as is just like soaked by by fire
but the sand people survived because they hid in their caves
and they were able to defeat the builders.
And when they came out, you know, they were free,
but now it was the desert world.
And as HK put it,
they have a long section about the founding
of their new desert society.
And it's real boring.
Yeah.
One wonders if there was a different droid here
translating if you would find out different types of detail, you know?
So, but yeah, you'd ask like further follow-ups about like what they think went down, what
happened, you know, HK points out that they talk about their worst ancestors, the people who are
guiltiest of their, of hubris were the ones who were taken. And he's like, well, of course, you know,
these people are the descendants, the people are left behind. So of course they think they're the
survivors of the good ones. He's like, it's pretty clear they didn't defeat shit.
They couldn't have defeated the empire, the type they describe.
That empire just didn't want to deal with them and destroyed the planet and left.
Yeah.
Well, he also says something that's basically like, you know, there was a sort of like a, it was like a plague or something.
It was part of how they ended up surviving where the builders didn't, something like that, right?
Yeah.
That the occupiers had to deal with the disease.
Right.
That's what it is.
Yes.
Yes.
Which is interesting.
I like that this is like, the thing that I like about this is like, this is not a,
it'd be very easy to play this game and not get all this lore on who the builders are.
And I think it's actually really a fun.
This is where, like, yeah, go get the star map.
Who cares?
But like, this is the actual lore dump that exists inside of this part of the people on Tattoo.
Instead of it being you hit activate on the star map,
it gives you the Lord Dump.
You know what I mean?
Which would be a much less interesting version of this.
Well, also, too, exactly,
this history keeps repeating.
Right.
That ever since then,
their planet is routinely invaded
by people who see an empty planet
ripe for colonization,
rich with materials.
And they all discover there's nothing there.
There's, there's, the materials are worthless.
It's basically refuge.
probably from these wars.
And new refuse joins it
as these settlements are abandoned,
as wars are fought above Tatooine
and like shit crashes on the planet.
But this is like Tatooine will always be here
and always be exactly this kind of planet
because it is now
it is a place where like the galactic cycle
just keeps repeating.
Yep.
You know, he specifically says
that like the Sandpeople especially seem to hate
humans because of their appearance, they're similar, not their appearance, but their similarity
to the builders. And you can be like, hey, is there like physical similarity or like social
similarity? Yeah, like, if I show you a picture of someone, can you tell me if they like look like the
like the builder? Yeah. And he's like, don't, don't go down this route. It's a bad idea.
The thing is funny, HK is ready for so much smoke. Yes. And then the minute you're like, I just have
more questions. He's like, let's not go there.
there. Yeah, uh-huh. It's very funny. The thing is, and this is maybe Natalie, what you did.
There's no, you, if you at that point say the wrong thing or open one of their little baskets
because you're playing an RPG and you're trying to loot the area, everyone goes hostile. And you
don't get any dark side points for that, even if you kill all of them. What you do get is a lot of
XP. And a lot of
fucking items. Yeah, and a lot of
items. And I believe
you'll even get the pearl
back if you have given it to them.
And so
that is a common
way to play this game.
So I was just doing the canon
playthrough, basically. Yeah, you're basically
just doing the canon playthru. I did not do this
because I wanted both of the crate
gems and I did pearls and
you know, I know this lore. It's fine. I don't need to go back
there we can wrap up and get ready to go off world you know but yeah yeah well i'm gonna
be there back there anyway to meet bastella's mom right sure it's true so maybe
dupes hopes to call mom himself okay oh lord she's sick rob
i mean i'll be one i'll be one of the dupes will be one of the family okay
Would you marry in via Bastila?
Yeah, no, this isn't like a milf hunting situation.
Okay, I thought you were milf hunting.
I thought you were like skipping Bastila altogether.
No.
Go straight to the source.
Uh-huh.
Anyway, so as long as I'm back there to meet the parent,
might as well go back there and just see what's in one of those wicker baskets.
Let me tell you.
Lots of grenades.
Oh.
So if I wiped them out, will that dragon pearl be there?
I would assume so because what I did was I saved right before the storyteller time.
I saved right before giving them the pearl, actually.
And so I gave them the pearl.
I listened to the storyteller and then I reloaded to right before I gave them the pearl.
And then I was like, I'll be back.
I'll be back
and then I think I just like
went digging in one of the crates
and then it aggrat everyone
and I had already released
the Jawa was at this time
so and then I just
killed everyone in the
enclave

Shoutouts
To expand on what
this other person said after you take it back
and get all the RP in story
then go and open one of their containers
they immediately become hostile
and you can kill them all
and loot the pearl back from the chieftain
and you don't get any dark side points
presumably because they didn't tell you
that you couldn't look through their stuff
and attacked you without warning when you did
I think you probably get dark side points for this
I'll be honest I think maybe
you should get dark side points
I was waiting for it to hit some dark side points
it's really fucked up that you could do this
and then still get full light side
you know what I mean you could do what we just described
and get absolutely
I am Jesus light side points
play through.
If only Cotor had been there for Anakin
and be like, hey man.
Don't worry about it.
Yeah.
This doesn't count as Dark Side.
Don't sweat it.
They attacked you for going
for something you were
innocently looking at stuff.
Yeah. Which is like the other way you could read
some of the way the game treats this
the idea
that their like anti-collodial
efforts is kind of like a novel
story is that like, yeah, this game
does not really understand
the situation like it's it's it does a pretty good job of being like you can totally play this
through in a way that's about getting them what they need to survive and that it does talk a lot
of shit about the the colonists and blah blah blah but it is also real quick to jump to them
being like and if you look at this wrong we'll kill you because that's who we are yeah you know
it's it's constantly putting you in the position that of you like walking on eggshells
around them and that they are just ready to
fight like they are look
I think actually one of the lines I got
after maybe it was after triggering
their agra or something it was like they've just been
like this was oh yeah it was after I looked
in their in their crate it says something like
well that was like the final
that's all they needed to finally like
to finally attack you like this was like
you know, they were so ready to anyway that this was like all they needed to just
to just become violent or whatever.
It really puts them in the position of like, like, the most encounterable outcome is you,
is you aggrowing them and like in getting into a giant squabble.
It says as you examine the contents of the container, the sand people begin to ready their weapons.
They were looking for any excuse to.
to attack and you rifling through their,
rifling through their possessions is as good as any.
Yeah.
Yep.
And so, like, in that, in that context, it's like,
if you're giving the player so many opportunities to enter into an agro situation
with this, like, with this group of people, it's, like, pushing your hand in a way.
Which, like, I'm a little torn on it, because the only hand, it's like...
In a way, it makes sense because they are like, you,
are a fucking outsider every time you talk every time you speak in a way where you question us or you
position yourself as like knowing more or like you you're you know questioning our values and
our practices you are re I think he says this at one point uh the chieftain when you're talking to
him um after you ask him a question about one of his customs or something he was like you were
re oh it's one of the questions is like why are you so hostile to outsiders
And if you ask them that, he's like, you even asking that question proves your position as an outsider.
Because you're questioning us, the people here, why would we, why would we be hostile to the people that are coming to our planet, like, mining our land and, like, entering in, like, lethal encounters with our people as we're, like, how could you even be asking this question why we,
we'd be hostile to the people exploiting our world.
And it's like, yeah, you're fucking right, man.
Like, it's, yeah, I feel that, you know, but I need the XP, so.
Damn.
But no, I really, like, in some ways, I think it does make a lot of sense for the dynamic that you're so close to.
You're constantly being in a, you're constantly put in a precarious position in terms of aggravating.
them. And it's like, yeah, you kind of should be on your toes about like paying the utmost
respect to these people who have been more than slighted by people like outsiders on this planet
for millennia, it sounds like. The thing that's also so funny and so like dark about it,
what's it cost you to fix this problem? $2,500 for a droid. And then literally, literally two
moisture collectors.
You pay like 400 credits or something for it from the Zerga Corporation, maybe.
The Zerga Corporation could have done this months ago.
They make that shit. They make them.
They get them at cost.
You know?
You could have dealt with this forever ago, and it would have been nothing.
And it's like, it just goes to show you that they've never once actually tried to do this in
anything like a good faith effort.
You can pay 200.
Well, they haven't had a translator.
They're the Zirka Corporation.
There's one in the town.
Yeah, so the thing about them
is that is so funny is there's such a big bureaucracy.
Yeah.
They have no people on the ground.
Like, everybody there is basically like,
yeah, I work for the company.
I don't give a shit.
Yeah.
And they're like not skilled in any,
it's like it's more, for instance,
the person you meet,
she's listed as a protocol officer.
She is basically a human protocol droid who gives you canned responses, more canned than the droids you meet.
Yeah.
Telling you, like, if you have further questions, ask our info kiosk on Corrassant.
They don't have anyone who can be like, I run operations on Tatooine and we need to figure out what's going on with the sand people.
They don't, they don't have folks who can do that.
And so they luck into the player character being there who's like, well, I can look into this and solve.
of it, but otherwise, they can't.
Like, the person who's running things, all they can do is offer, like,
contracts to go shoot at sand people.
Yep.
Because that's what they're authorized doing.
That's it.
Yep.
Fucked up.
I'm a...
Yep.
Anything else on...
Well, then you've got to fight.
Calenord.
Because you go into the cave.
If I was brutal.
Okay.
I wasn't that...
I didn't have too much trouble with that.
Not going to lie.
I didn't really have any bed packs
I'll be like that.
That's fair, that's fair, that's fair.
Dup's kept going down early.
He drew a lot of agro and then
he couldn't sell it.
And so that was
basically like, can this teenage girl
and this murderous droid
I told you to bring Jihadi out.
You got to bring out Jihani or Kanderas.
You need someone who can really step in.
Uh, I wanted kind of a David and Goliath situation
Little mission with a rifle just standing back there going plink
Wait, and is your, and you're two range people against that crew?
Damn.
Well, I had Dopp's.
Okay.
So three range people?
Dup has a lightsaber?
Yeah, you're supposed to be in there.
Wait, sorry.
It seems like we didn't finish the Griff story either.
Did you go talk to Griff?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
We got that great Q&A question.
We did.
The last Q&A about Treesian ale.
Well, we don't know where it goes.
Yeah, I was curious why this loomed so large for the questioner, perhaps.
But Griff has got a plan to get back on his feet.
Yeah, things have gone wrong.
His home world's destroyed, or at least the city that he called home is destroyed.
And his name is mud on tattooing.
But he's going to bring it all back.
That's right.
When he becomes the galaxy's only purveyor of a,
authentic teresean ale one problem what's that it doesn't have any of the ingredients for teresa
right that's the problem and he told the exchange because actually his bright idea was
i'm gonna i'm gonna put a micro brewery with the mob
what's wrong the mob has money and they're drinking all the time they are drinking all the time
you got to get Theresa A.L. into Bada Bing.
Tony, you got to go talk at Tome and see if he can get it in the Bada Bing.
It's going to, you know, Christopher and Griff, I feel like, could be, could have a little, you know, a little business ventures together.
A little slime ball duo.
A little slime ball duo.
Yeah.
I just saw Goodfellas for the first time recently.
I'm seeing Griff right in there.
Griff is right in there.
He slops right in there.
He's at the club, 100%.
Yeah.
Griff is actually the guy who gets shot
Is actually the guy
Spider
Is that what the name was?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The kid who's like, hey, go fuck yourself
Yeah, and then he gets like shot.
Yeah, 100%.
The same actor as Christopher
The same guy, it is the same guy
It's the same guy.
Is it actually the same guy?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It is, it is, it is, it is, it is, it's, it's,
it's, uh, it's, it's, what's his face?
Uh, Michael.
My imperioli, yeah.
Yeah.
A king.
Did you ever see?
Do you ever see Scorsese talking about the scene with the mom?
Do you know about this?
They go to his mom's and his mom is...
That's Scorsese's mom.
When they go after...
Oh, when they have dinner.
That's Scorsese's mom.
And she basically improvved her way through that.
That's almost all ad-libs.
She told her, or he told her just act as if I came home in the middle of the night.
And so when she's doing all the stuff that's like,
would you eat anything?
You look like you haven't eaten anything.
That's just her trying to be herself.
Oh, my God.
It's very cute.
Anyway, Goodfellas, great movie.
Marty the King.
The strike is over, by the way.
Yeah, the other Scorsese movie, just glamorizing and worshipping.
Toxic men doing violence.
Anyway, Charles is Corsese.
Can't wait to see how this ends up for Griff?
Yep.
Does he tell you to go to Kishik?
I don't think so.
He says, I need attack gland or whatever.
Okay, maybe it's the data pad that tells you to go to Kishik.
Maybe it's that.
Because I know one of them led you there, but he, I love that he not only has this big idea,
but he has already promised somebody some of the ale.
So that's why he's like, you've got to get this.
Right.
Because you can be like, now, you know what?
I'm not fucking with you ever again because mission doesn't want to.
Mission's like, all right, bud, bye.
I don't care.
I don't want to see you again.
And, but he can be like, hang on now, mission.
This guy has got a plan.
He seems all right.
God.
I'm trying to see.
Does he actually say, I need one from Kashique?
Yeah, he does.
He does.
Okay.
Okay.
So, yeah.
Got a line on the tack at Kashik.
And please hurry, because the exchange could show up at any moment being like, where's the first batch?
Yep.
Good question.
That's where we got to go.
We got to go there.
But yes.
We're heading next.
Rob, to your point, you fight Caled Nord.
The only reason I'm moving past it quickly is just like it's not it.
It's just a fight.
No, he's supposed to just get like he just gets steamrolled.
But it was an epic reload, try to like if mission hadn't critted.
Yeah, that's how it.
Because I had one fight where he won, he survived by one hit point when he, when he like, it was brutal.
He won.
He had one hit point left.
Just couldn't get the last shot off.
And this time, he, like, HK went down fairly early in the fight.
He had, like, quarter of his health left.
And I was like, well, that's just it.
Mission can't bring him down.
And her next sniper shot critted for, like, massive, massive damage.
Love it. Fantastic.
So, yeah.
And then you just get your bounce, basically.
You know, we still have the Ginkas, where are they called?
So I fed one of them the poison.
Yeah, I mean, I killed them too.
No.
Oh, I'm just letting them hang out with me.
Yeah.
This is a classic.
You can make a little bit of money if you let them stay on.
And there's another outcome here that you can do that gives you some dark side points and some money.
Or you can kill them.
And you get a little more XP if you kill them.
You get 60 more XP for killing them.
I paid for the poison.
60? That's it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it either costs you 350 or it earns you 100.
It costs you $350
credits or earns you $100 credits
but costs you some dark side points
and not as many XP
So just do what's in your heart
This is a real do it's in your heart one
I think they're cool
You know
They're so cute
Oh you know what this reminds me of
Is when you talk to the person
Who can sell you the poison
The two person person
The person who's like the big
Lumbering guy
And then there's a guy on his back
You could ask him for advice
And I actually wrote this down because I thought it was so fun.
And it's like, this is Tatooine, basically, right?
When you talk to him, his name is Mick Tannan Juice.
And you could say, tell me what, like, do you have any advice for being on tattooing?
And he says, always trust the locals, even if they don't trust you.
And as you could see it written on a whiteboard.
That is the Tatooine story, right?
Is that, like, the people who actually live here know what the fuck they're doing,
whether that is the people who have lived and hunted here for a long time, whether that is
the Sandpeople or the Javas, like, the people who were here before Zerka came, that is
the people to care about and like to listen to they know what's what don't get you know don't trust
these newcomers because they don't know they don't know from shit so yeah yeah he also says
when he talks a he you can ask him a lot more about like his species and like what their deal is
and he he says something he's like two voices create the name four ears hear the sound and like
like a non of that species
someone not of that species
can't possibly hear the name
the way that it's meant to be heard
because you have to have four ears to hear
the sound and the two voices need to speak
the name together.
It's just like it's great
I think there's like really great characterization
on tattooing of
like
non-human
like I don't know there's like a lot of really good
I really enjoyed the way that the jaw was talk and the things that they had to say,
like the stuff that you recited earlier.
It's all, like, digging stuff up.
Yeah, that stuff is really good.
And the whole Sandpeople storyteller line was great.
So, oh, I have to tell you about a funny bug.
Uh-oh.
Please.
So the first time I went to the Tuscan Rader.
sorry, the sand people
enclave
when I'm like in disguise and everything
for some reason
when I was brought
before the chieftain
they removed my robes
so I was naked
in front of the chieftain
Cotor nude mod
No way they stripped me down too
Why were they
stripping us?
Because you're in the disguise. Me and Mission were
in our under armor. Yeah I think I
Wait, really?
Yeah, I think I was too, because when I left, I was completely naked.
Maybe this is not a bug.
I think they just take your, because they take your disguise away.
They don't put you in the, they don't put you back into the other armor.
Your replica sand people disguises.
Yeah, uh-huh.
You bought them from the, that not happened to you?
No, I feel like because I was in the cutscene in the Tuscan Rainer outfit, and then I ran into a different bug where
made the deal with the chieftain, uh, teleported back to the even hawk, got the moisture
things, tried to walk through the path again to go in and all those dudes attacked me because
I wasn't able to equip the robes again. And I thought it was like a thing of like,
because I didn't, like, because they didn't see me walk through the tunnel or whatever and didn't
know that it was cool. Like I hadn't walked from the sand people area to the, the dune sand. I was
like oh these guys outside don't know what's up right oh my god so i had to walk all the way back
and then i'll teleport back is how i got around that very funny um that's tattoine
that's tatooine where are we going next got to go to kashik got to go to kashik got to go to the
ruky home world bring out big z it's big z time yeah i think the game might force you
i think it must i mean if it doesn't you just should you got to commit i'm not saying you have to bring out
too mission can maybe chill yeah maybe maybe see what big Z like outside of her yeah get
some like good quality time with you and Big Z yeah big Z clearly hates you though like
maybe maybe maybe you just got to go to Big Csies home you know yeah maybe what do you think
is happening on Cache these days or Cache I never know how to pronounce it there's three
whys that makes me want to say sheik I feel like it's Cache they usually say Cache's I think okay
They say things differently.
Keith Carberry is on our asses for pronunciation.
But let me tell you about a game called Knights of the Old Republic
where their own characters pronounce stuff differently.
You'll hear Bastilla.
You'll hear Bastila.
You'll hear Kashik.
You'll hear all sorts of stuff.
It's pronounced different ways.
Pizak.
You'll hear Pizak instead of Pizak.
So.
What if Kashik has like little baby roach trees?
Oh, because it's still young.
It's 4,000 years ago.
Roshes Safflings.
That would be very funny.
Yeah.
That would be great.
Probably not, but it would be very funny.
All right.
So next week, we're going to Kishik.
Two weeks.
Two weeks.
We're getting into microbrews.
Not next week.
We're not, yeah.
We are not like trying to spin one around real quick.
No.
Microbrews.
Yeah.
And we did our first round of questions on Kotor just recently at our over on Patreon.
If you like to hear that or just want to support the show, you can do so at
patreon.com slash civilized.
Until next time, please rate and review us on your podcast platform of choice.
And remember, yeah, when on tattooing, always trust the locals.
I don't know.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Oh!
