joke about putting a bunch of lawyers at the bottom of the sea being a good start, and they decided to build their whole civilization around it. That and a single commodity export economy. Now, what's that commodity you ask? To which I reply, hey, hey, get a load of this guy. They never heard of Colto. My dude, what do you think is in those med packs? Middichlorians? Great Dragon Tosk. Come on, I'm just messing to you. Now, if you're ready talk to business, I have the original patents for hyperspace here, and I'm willing to let you have them for a hundred credits. Anyway,

Calto is this Eres Bacta, and the planet of Manon and the Selkath who live there beneath its waves are the galaxy's sole supplier. They've used that position to go rich

and remain neutral in galactic politics, which suits their historically isolation is bent. They've built a cool floating city on the surface of their ocean planet to do business with the galaxy

at large. And when you arrive, they're hosting large embassies from the Sith and the Republic, and they just have one simple rule for everyone who comes to Manon, just don't do murder in the streets where the cameras can see. You would think that would be a simple rule to follow. And yet, over the course of your time, Manon, you will be tested. You'll be testing on a few axes because you're just going to

keep running and follow that legal system. At every turn, you're just going to get pulled into a trial. And you're going to have to do some detective work. So buckle up. Yeah. You go to court three times in this section. I realize that I'm watching, I'm continuing with my walkthrough watch. I was, I booted back up gameplay shares, 48 hours long play. You asked us a very funny, relevant question, actually. I did. I said, hey guys, is this section supposed to begin with a trial?

turns out yes but not in the way that I was not the trial I literally just pulled up the video because I like to keep it on in the background while we talk just so I can like look at Cotor and literally their video goes like take off from Kashik land talking to the guy in the cage as it's your trial oh is that the one that comes back here it's your it comes back for some reason no I'm looking at it right now the part that I'm looking at is 17 hours 39

minutes and 55 seconds in, and it cuts to... That's too deep. So they've already been there once. Okay, so I bet this play-through must come and go for Manon multiple times, which might make sense. Oh, they're doing like the little buffet style visiting the planets. There are... No, but they went back. Like, I think something got messed up with this recording, because this section, it's...

Also a lot of other really good games That have come out this year And my own Cotor playthrough That like As I'm watching these I'm like shaking my screen and saying, Tana Khan would never do this. No.

But what can I do? Patience are the cards I've been dealt. Yeah. Patience is the way of a Jedi and surgery later. I also need to share something about my playthrough. Uh-oh. I was so scared. I was thinking about Dupps in this as I was watching.

I'm not going to lie. I was terrified. I thought that it'd go harder than it did, but we'll get to that. No, so Tilly, the baby poodle that we have in the house. Tilly, okay, so when you are placed with a, like, you work with a breeder and poodles can do a variety of things and they sort of try to temperament match. And based on our answers, they told us, they reassured us, they pick out a good dog for us. And when we got Tilly, the note was, she's going to be a great couch potato dog, which I felt on the one hand, I was like, couch potato. And then I thought, nah, who are we kidding, man? Yeah, yeah. We need a couch potato dog for we are couch potatoes. Tilly fucking loves watching TV. But, like, Mina has, like, she enjoys watching sports occasionally. And she, like, would get obsessed over, like, Animal Crossing. the way text clicks across the screen

and animals make goofy little noises. Yeah. But Tilly, let's see. Highlights from playing this with Tilly. When we got Tuminon and the first Salkh starts talking and they're fish people who just go rumble rumble, blah.

It's such a funny sound. Tilly could not take, like she was looking at the TV like what the fuck? Do you see this? This is incredible. This video you posted. We got to post it on the channel. We got to put it on that.

It's so good. Fully authorized. Yeah. So the thing I couldn't get was Tilly's first reaction to Rodians. Oh my God. Which was not favorable. Ooh. Wow.

Tilly like the Rhodians start talking. Tilly like stands up and starts barking at the screen and then runs away. And then comes back and barks at the rodeon symbol and runs away. That's wild. Final thing. there is a moment later in the game where a large fish swims at the camera real quick

is the scene for us is one of the least scary it's an old game is one of the least scary things I've ever seen Tilly freaked the fuck out I didn't even know she was watching the game at closely but like she was like watching

like through half-litted eyes this fish swims straight at the camera real fast to be fair it's an ancient mononial phraxen shark that she jumped to her feet and bolted just fled the room

it's so funny because the way that they do it is so busted because they're in like their open world patrol and then if you get within their range they like literally on a dime

turn to face you and start moving forward and put on mean face like it's just like it switches you can see the three switches flipping this was from the cut scene where another NBC buys it where they do a cinematic camera

that sells that's a lot of rush a little bit more. Yeah. It was her like, you know, train pulling into the station moment of like, holy shit. This is real. That thing's coming for me. Yeah.

Yeah. That's very funny. So throughout my experience, you just have to imagine like Tilly actively watching and like a groundling, you know, theater in the round like commenting and reacting to the to the proceedings, which was, which was very cute. Well, maybe Tilly had a premonition about. that, that, that evil, that evil, that evil rodeon we encounter. One of the Rhodians was, was a bad guy.

I believe you. There's so much on a nod. I just don't remember it. I know, we have so much to get into. We can get into it. So, you, you know, you arrive on the planet and it looks a lot like, again, the concept for it is not like the prison, uh, that Andor ends up in where it's like the huge floating, uh, like structures on the, um, like, structures on the, ocean but they have like a central ring that's hauled out that somehow holds back the ocean it at least looks like yeah big like donut big tourist shape or like a sea shape or something like that which i really like actually yeah and what's up with it well you get you get a taste

right away you open literally you open the docking bay doors and in a change of pace instead of having a guy be like you need to pay a parking fee and also here's a bunch of like lower about the planet. Instead, you see a Sith and a Republic soldier, uh, like just bad-mouthing each other. Yeah. And, but kind of flirting too. Yeah. Um, like the, the horniness on Manan is off the charts. Uh, as these two, is these two factions, like, can't touch each other. They just can't, they can't, they can't, like, engage in violence, but oh, oh, sparks are flying. Yeah. Oh, they could at the motel. There's a motel there. Well, and they do, don't they?

Ooh. I have questions. Uh-huh. I bet. And that's Medan, in a way, right? It's like neutral planet. They grow colto, or they don't even grow it. It floats up from the seafloor, and it's collected, and then turned into a healing paste. Because of this, it's a neutral planet.

The neither side will take military action against it because they've threatened to destroy all of the culto if they try to, if the Sith try to invade and, like, take it over. The Republic doesn't make that threat, and instead, as we will learn, engages in secret governmental cooperation with the lying Menonians. And the vibe is like Cold War, you know, sci-fi shit of like, there's the eastern side of this place and the western side of this place and their spy shit happening and a spy gets you know there's a there's a little bit of a love story that goes bad on a fair that goes bad between people on each side alley you scoffed i it is so much less cold war and more uh high school to me oh i mean

yeah but there's a there was i was think sharks and jets did just get blown up guys dance battle time I mean, that is true, but also Taurus just got blown up by one of the people. So it's like, what if your high school had someone who just killed 10 million people in it? Right. Okay, so that it's Starship Troopers. The Starship Troopers, yeah. I mean, actually, it is kind of Starship Troopers. That is actually really the vibe.

Led Verhoeven to a Star Wars. Oh, yeah. I love that. Fucking rule. And yeah, that's the setup. And then there's like, you know, I have the, here's the list of side quests. there's like there's joly's story about his buddy who is one for murder a bunch of cell cats which are like catfish aliens they kind of have like floppy face

side things it's kind of like a catfish head on a humanoid body uh a bunch of them worst voice just a wild voice it's a wild voice yeah i don't know i don't watch that in two times speed i don't know how you that in one x i don't know why the fish sound like this maybe they need the water around them to not sound like this I don't know. Yeah, maybe. Anyway, a bunch of their kids are missing, like, their youths have gone missing. Where are they?

Who could say? The Republic, one of the side quests is like nothing. And it's just like, someone's like, why are the Republic, why is the Republic hiring mercenaries? And you solve this simply by seeing a submarine. And then you could go turn that quest in, which is very funny. And then the one that is not really just, oh, there's swoop bike racing again, out on the sea.

And then there is a multi-planet side quest, which I'm curious if anyone actually. completed. This is the thing that I was gesturing at of like before you do the star map, you're going to get a quest that you can do that's going to take you to other planets. So before you do the star map, make sure you go to all the other planets. This is the secret to science.

Oh shit. I might not go back and complete? You can go back, hmm? Am I not going to be able to go back and complete? You can complete some of it. Uh-oh. I got a save position that I can. The key is, if You've been, at the end of all, then you find the star map in an underwater base.

Turns out there's some, like, space station, sci-fi horror stuff happening underwater. You find the, you deal with it, you find the star map, you leave. And then, uh-oh, we are going to lead into the next episode where the spaceship has been interdicted and, and what do you, what's the, what's the beam? What do you call it? What do you call it a tractor beam? There's been tractor-beamed into the Leviathan. the ship of the Saul Kratz's fleet ship

Yeah Do you just have to initiate the The quest? Because I spoke to somebody alone You don't know why yet But you will not be able to do all of the parts of this quest We will find out why next time Am I the only assassin here? Did I get No I did all of it

I'm done with all of it Yeah this is why I said that last time Yeah but that was so long ago I forgot I know I for okay so let's just Let's talk about this This is a side quest. Like, first of all, this place is unnavigable. And the game lampshades it by the Republic soldier that you meet.

Right after he and the Sith have been like the Sith guys like, I'll bet you'd love to beat the hell out of me right now, wouldn't you? And the Republic soldiers, like, yeah, I would. And the Sith soldiers like, come on over here, big guy. Why don't you just plant one on me? And the Republic soldiers, like, you'd love that, wouldn't you? But no, I'm not going to do it. And the Sith guy's like, because you're not enough of a man.

and the Republic guys, I'll show you how much of a man I am. And anyway, after they... Oh, man, Yowahy, that's happening right now. The... After that wraps up, the Republican soldiers, like, you should go to the Republic Embassy and see if they got... You should check in with them. It's not hard to find.

You just go down the corridor, you go north through the east hallway, and then you exit the east courtyard through the northern hallway, and then it's two chambers to the lower. West, and anyway, then you're there. Sounds easy, huh? It's the most running back and forth you'll do on any planet. Easy. Because it's mostly a social planet. There is not, until the very end and one little dungeon area, there is not the sort of like, you know, in Dantuan. It's all cutscenes. It's all talking. It's all conversations. In some ways, this is the

prototype for the Citadel in Mass Effect or this style of social hub. bio work gets into over the next decade, right? Where it's just like, I mean, like truly all of these, all of these could go on the Citadel in Mass Effect 1 or 2 or 3, you know, like missing kids that you have to investigate a trial where you have to run around the entire fucking map and interview people to try to get the right thing. A weird torture mini game or I guess it's an interrogation mini game where you have to talk to a guy, you don't have to do that.

You can do math problems instead if you want to. Like all of that stuff feels so proto-Citadel. to me that like it makes me wonder if that was like their thinking was hey this is kind of a lot it's probably not their thinking my thinking is wow this was too much to put all at once but over the course of a 50 hour RPG where I got to know the way the citadel is laid out I come to like it because I'm only there for a little bit at a time you know but here it's just such a dense back and forth through the and this is the other reason it feels like a high school it's a fucking high school there's a parking lot when you go inside and then it runs east to west

And there's some weird hallways you have to. And you're like, fuck, where's the gym? Where's, I have lab next? Where do I go over? Where's my science class? It literally is that style of east to west. The cafeteria with all the Merks hanging out. With all the Merks hanging out.

There's like, there's weird places. And you're like, what do they do over there? I don't know what they do over there. None of my quests ever taken me over there. I never have class over there. And then there's weird bookstore cubbies. Yeah. Where like people are performing weird commerce, but like the goods suck.

So it's like, why don't you buy something in here? What do I buy? what a six dollar pencil no it's not even art pencil just a pencil with the school logo on it i don't care how much it costs to you i'm not student store fuck the student store anyway one of these things so they're hiring mercenaries and then and then super races and then one of them is after you defeated calenord you got a uh a data pad and on that data pad it said that was the guy that came up to you and was like you drop this right that's what it was you're like no i didn't and you're like no i didn't He's like, no, you did.

Yes. And hands you the data pad and the data pad says, hey, come talk to this guy in East Central Monon. Come alone. And if you do, what he says is, hey, do you know about the, the Gino Harrodin? And you're like, that sounds like Star Trek shit. I have not heard about the Gina Harrodin. That sounds like dune shit to me, my man. What are you talking about?

It's not supposed to be in here. And he's like, oh, you don't know about the secret assassin group? that has been slowly putting its thumb on history and politics for the last 10,000 years? You didn't know about them? Bro, they're just making... You can't just say... They're just making shit up.

They're just making things up now. Yeah. Like, you could just say whatever you want in Star Wars now. You can just say things. This is the first experience, the first time they ever show up, for sure. This is true. And they only really show up in a handful of other things.

I don't think any of it's canon anymore, as far as I know. And then, yeah, and then what happens is he gives you, this is a, this is a Rodeon guy. This is the evil Rodeon guy? No, the evil one is in the hotel. I mean, he's not evil. He just took bad, bad money. Oh, that guy.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, who lost? Oh, he's just a little schmuck who needs money. Yeah. This Rodeon is definitely evil. I mean, he works for the Evil Assassination Guild, right? But like, well, he's doing it for the Republic. You should finish this quest line because he is not doing this for the Republic.

I also love how much you're underselling, how much every other line. He's like, by the way, you can't tell anybody about this. It's a good thing that you came here alone because if you were here with anybody, I would literally be not talking to you right now. He does say that a lot. He doesn't seem to mind that you go do the assassinations with a full-ass party, though. No big deal. Well, as long as he didn't tell anybody about it.

One of the people to assassinate's on Monon, right? And then there's one off. planet. There's one on Dantuan. I love that he opens up and says... Wait, I might actually be able to complete because I took care of the first two quests. Then you might be good to go, Rob. You might be good to go, my friend. I've been initiated. As long as you have not... I got my poison dagger, my poison gun. They let you back on Manon, right? Oh, I'm a hero there. They love me. Oh, perfect. Then you're

good to go. Dops is good to go. All right. They're building statues of dups like you're gonna have to add they're gonna have to add like statues of dupes pull out then i will not spoil the end of the genohara didn't quest uh i don't know natalie if you've seen the end of it yet maybe that hasn't popped in your playthrues all right yeah well i think probably both of the play through well maybe not the hundred oh that's probably why the hundred percent perfect guy left yes uh before finishing getting the star map yes 100 yeah i think that's what happened yeah but if you got those too, Rob, you should be good to go. Man, saved by the fact

that I couldn't find anything on that fucking planet and kept losing traffic where the, where the Republic base was. And I would just end up back at the, I was just like, fuck it, you know what, let's just fly the dance to me and like cross that guy off. Go do this bullshit. I've lost 45 minutes of progress

last night, and that is when I was like, fuck it, I'm just going to go do this. Because there is an important thing maybe this is only a Robb thing. Rob, have you been romancing Bastila? you gotten into the big bastella conversation about oh hell yeah uh now i have a really important question have you followed up with her about it to make hey did you have you thought more about that stuff we talked about do you talk have you talked more about the you thought more about the

kiss we had no don't because if you do it ends it ends the thing it closes off the entire plot the jean harran stuff no no no the the bastella like romance plot if you look Can we share it with the class? What is this big thing that happened? Y'all kissed? Yeah, we kissed. What's up? Yeah, we have, Rob.

How does that happen? And that's the end of it? She gets mad at you for like, she's like, listen, I said I have to think about some things. I am still thinking. And now I'm just going to, that's it. I'm done. I'm done thinking. I'm not, we're not, it was a mistake.

And then you do the rest of the scene there, literally.

What? Yeah. Uh-huh. I can't imagine any more disappointing than, like, receiving a chaste kiss after that pitch, though. Well, this is the thing is, yeah, we, we should, okay, I'm just going to get into it, because I've already set up with that. I can't back away from this now. First of all, can we back up real quick? Yes, please.

Because Basil's Loyalty Quest, they're not called that, but you know what I mean. Yes, 100%. So I need to talk about the least heat for a booking I've ever seen, which is after you've just, you, You just rinsed Calonord. Dark Apprentices keep showing up. You just keep beating the shit out of them. And you get this cut scene where Malak is like, oh my God, so Malak's like, no more bounty hunters, Karov.

I think it's Malik. And for reasons that are very funny. No, people keep changing how they pronounce it. Like, there are multiple pronunciations of this game. I noticed it because like somebody is saying Malak. But anyway. Yes. He's like, no more bounty hunters, Karah.

They don't have what it takes. And Cross, like, well, what do you propose? In walks, evil. Darth Brandon. This is Keith J. Carberry's theory. So our three Dark Jedi that we know about, Revan, Malick, and Bandin, Darth Bandin, who is Malick's a new apprentice. You know how in our part of Star Wars you get a Darth name that's like Vader or whatever. Keith's theory is that it's

Evan, Alec, and Brandon And they've just played with their names To become Revin, Malick, and Bandon That's in the old republic Their original name was It's not Revan, it's Evan, it's Evan It's not Malic, it's Alec, and it's not Bandon, it's Brandon And given how corny, he fights like a Brandon.

This is an organization 13 shit It really is. Like, so we, because, because, like, I did the thing where we were, like, go to the back of the fucking Great Dragon Cave and, like, now the Holocron's there. So he jumped you there? He jumped me there. He jumped me on Kashik because I was doing the assassination quest on Kashik. And we just beat the shit out of them.

And, like, it worked. And the thing is, he also really tined it poorly because this is right after I had put, like, a critical damage buff on Bastel's double-bladed lightsaber and the critical range expansion. on her double-aided lightsaber. She getting crits on like an 18. Yeah, and so like, he kept being stasis by dops. Yep.

And then she walks up behind him, and he just goes down like to a fifth of hit points in like two hits. More dark apprentices who just like they're nothing. They're just made shit. Yeah. Yeah, I had a weird effect. I had like a glitch happen because it happened to me on the Shadowlands and Cache. and all of my all of the like fighting audio got cut out of the game it was just music playing

I was like that's kind of cool like Darth band and made it silent here and like no it's just a bug game it's not this is not real this is just a mistake he doesn't have a good loot he doesn't have she he has armor that you can get you put the armor on it's worse than my armor and it looks like shit he doesn't have the like silver also this is the guy from the beginning of the game I don't know if you remember that that you saw him fight on the endar spotter. Yes, because your character refers to it. You killed Tarn.

Tarn Adams. Nope, that's the Dwarfurt. Now it's Tarn. Hey, Tarn, I hope you're doing good. What the fuck is the... Tark? It's Trask. Oh, go.

Tray. Yeah, you killed Trask, you killed Trask, you son of a bitch. That was my tutorial. I'm going to tell you, all this shit would have gone differently of Trask had survived. Oh, like, you. it's it's one of those things where if he makes a planet fall he's just like point me at the sith and it's just like done yeah a hundred wrecking the shotgun yeah 100% so anyway anyway so we kill that we kill that fool easy as hell and then I'm like sebastloini but this holocron

she's like I don't know I've got this all this weird and he's all shit with my mom this is the dad holocron is what this is right yeah yeah now you would think you would think you would think you would just have to like respectfully let people work out how like you know what like it's not on you to fix toxic dynamics correct and yet in this game it sure as fuck is because you go back to the bar always the place to have a heart to heart with your estranged mom it's like you're holding your dad's ashes the shittiest dive bar on on tattooing and they start going at it and And her mom's like, you don't remember anything correctly about your childhood. And Bastila's like, I'm done, listen to your lies. I know exactly how it was. You gave me to the Jedi because you were tired of raising a kid and you wanted to save money because you wanted to live in luxury.

And you kept making dad do treasure hunting even when he didn't want to because you're so greedy. And you can just like let it lie there. Or you can do what apparently is the light-sided option. which is intervene and be like, Bastila, I think you need to listen to your mom. That's right. You two need to like actually like,

you need to be the bigger put person. You need to hear her out and let go this animosity. At that point, I guess the real story, which is basically like, you know, it feels like what her mom's been saying all along. So it's like this is a version of,

You're such a hypocrite. So here she's finally saying like, listen, that's not, you've seen me for like a little bit. That's because I'm trying my hardest to not be who I really am. My instructors

constantly berated me for it. I've often dreamed that I might be able to confront Darth Malik myself. I dream I can use all this power I have to kill him and stop all the death and destruction. I just think about all the evil that the Sith of Cause and I just, I get so furious. Yet we're told that these feelings are the path to the dark side. And you can kind of go down that path with her, where it's like, but I don't want to become as evil as Alec. Da-da-da-da-da. And then eventually the next step there, you can kind of come back through this and talk through that feeling with her again.

And by the end of it, you can be like, hey, you know, maybe what we need to do is work together. Like maybe you and I can kind of like bring the best out of one another, you know. And then from there, there is a point where you're like, and she's like, yeah, you're always, this is if you're a guy, she's like, you're always there for me, huh? You know if I keep pushing you away. You're still around when I need you the most. You're like, no man I've known before. And you're nothing like what I expected you to be after the council sent us on this mission together. And you can just say, we were made for each other, Bastila. You have to see that. Or you can say, how did you expect me to be? And in both cases where it goes to is like, I need some time to think about this. And then, after she's had some time to think about this, you can be like, maybe there's one other conversation in between then and there, where it's like, I mean, yeah, she straight up says like, hey, is this really only, this is only with,

with women, it stops at you being, her being like, perhaps you can help me. And I will try to help you if I can. hopefully this will all work out for the best of the best for the both of us and for the sake of the mission. The end. With a guy, she says, you've been patient with me, haven't you? And I suppose you deserve an answer. But you have to understand how difficult this is for me to say.

With all my training, I should be able to control myself better than this. But you're not like anything I expected. You're not like any man I've ever met before. Eventually, when it comes down to this, like, big conversation with her, she says, hey, you know, she pulls you, this is the crew quarters conversation.

So stop you wherever you are, and she'll be like, I want to talk to the basketball has something to say, pulls you back to the crew quarters. And she says, I've been thinking about it. I can't deny that I'm drawn to you. It's real. And so here's what's going to happen. I think the Jedi Council knew about our bond and knew that this was. a test for me and I have to overcome my feelings for you to show them that I am ready to be a Jedi Knight. This is an important step in understanding the force. I'm sorry this isn't what you wanted

to hear, but I felt it was important, you know, that we know that our infatuation was just a result of the bond. And you'd be like, are you for real? I'm just a stepping stone to you becoming a Jedi master. And you keep pushing on it until she finally, and this is the bit where I'm like, they didn't know how they wanted to write it. And so they just wrote it both ways. You can be like, it's so difficult for you. What about me? What about my difficulty? What about these feelings that I have?

And she's like, why do you think I came to this decision? I know how hard it is for both of us. You just kept pressing forward, so I had to be the one to step up and do the right thing. utilitarian, what's the best way to win a war shit? Because here on Manon, there's a lot of, like, what are you going to do? You're going to really throw away the Republic War effort. You're really going to let the Sith win, or are you going to get your hands a little dirty? And I think, you know, it's starting to hit a little bit that sometimes you just got to get your hands a little dirty. It's not Austin saying this. This is what my character is saying, to be clear, right? So there's some decisions you can make that are not the light-sided decisions that are, some of them are very stupid still. But I think this is one of the only quests starts to show up here where it feels like there are some dark-sided options that feel like they fit something a little bit more like what we think of would be a fun version of the dark side. It's kind of fucked up, for instance, the things they don't have that I really wish they had.

You should be able to like make some Sith start shit on the planet in a way that they get like banned or, you know, even just like a person. Why can't I goad someone or force persuade someone into doing something shitty? so they get kicked off planet, you know? The Sith are the only ones doing the goading. They're constantly goading, and they are the only ones who can goad. Or they're saying things like a Republic Dog could never satisfy a Sith woman like me. And you mentioned the HK, like one master being like, HK, I need you to find out if my wife is cheating on me.

There's other details that you also know by now because you can just ask the judge and it's stuff like they found one of his war medals at the scene of the crime and she was shot in the back and she was clutching one of his war medals when they found her body. And it does all sound like a palli planted evidence, which course. Yeah. Absolutely.

So I don't know, I don't know who it was. And he planted the medal that the Sith person already had. So you kind of get the sense that, oh, Alasa was also playing Sunri and that she must have gotten, you can bring this information. Wait, there's one other person in the...

There's the Pazok player, importantly. Right, the Pazac player. Right, right, right, right. He's got something real interesting. That he bumped into Alasa one time in like the lobby or something. And she had a big coat on. And he's like, I didn't think that was that weird because people have big coats. But...

But I felt... I felt something in, like, her coat flapped up. I don't know how it, he explains this away. But she had a Sith lightsaber on her. So he says that her master knew Sundry and Alasa were seeing each other. So after this kind of part, you kind of get the sense that Alasa was also playing Sunri. He must have gotten his medal at some point and given it to her master. So, and then you can talk to a rando.

there's like a rando yeah there's just a guy in the hallway who's like this this case has more than you think oh yeah I'll go to the bottom the guy's like you got to the republic base he like stops you

he's like yeah who was that he's a rando in deep throat doing it like what I don't know but he's right he's right he's like

you got to know both sides are fucking each other like both sides are planting evidence against the other. Of course they are. So the story's a really, this quest is a really powerful metaphor

And then so we go and talk to his wife, Sunri's wife, and she's like okay, yeah, I knew they were having an affair but like it was, you promised he was going to break it off.

And he was, you know, he's such a gentle man, he would never do something like this. This was my issue with my, with the playthair I was watching. He never clicked any of the options that had to do with the sleeping together. That's a mistake.

Did not click on any Anything that had to do with the affair. One of the things you need to do to get them. You shouldn't watch a play-through is done by prudes. Yeah, that's true. Well, he fucking said him to jail. That's not perfect. That's not perfect.

Interesting. Yeah. Yeah, here's the thing. Every time I've ever played this, I've just given the fucking card, the data card over the video. And so I'm going to see what this trial is. I always hear about this trial and I've never seen it. So it's interesting. Calling witnesses and running a strategy.

The way it works is basically the Sith guy calls a witness. has says one thing, like asks one big question, and then turns it over for you to ask any questions you want. And the thing that's interesting, like this is the thing is this system actually rules. Allie, did you go through this whole system? I did. Well, I did it and then I read the guide. So I sort of saw the breakthrough of like, which answer gives you which point. Yeah. So you're getting, there's five judges and each judge has different biases, right? So like, there's, like, most of the judges don't care that he's old and injured and moved slow. And so if you keep going like, you know, you get questions like, one of the ones that everybody likes and responds positively to was like, did you actually see the murder happen?

Or do you just hear some shit and you put it together? And everybody gets points for that. You're trying to get points on each judge. Some people gain points for things like, hey, isn't it weird that the metal was just left behind at the crime scene? That gives certain people points. But then there's stuff that that doesn't give everybody points or gives one but doesn't, doesn't. takes them away from other people. So you could be like, isn't it weird that a guy like,

don't you think it's weird that an old man like that who can't move around could hurt a young spry woman like Alaska? And like, Judge Five gains a point, but Judge one and two lose points. Oh, interesting. And after every, after every witness, you can be like, hey, what are the judges thinking right now? And they each have a kind of a canned line about where they are on the sort of meter to be like, I don't think he did it. Or like, I think he could have, I still think he could have done it.

I'm not sure I'd like to see more evidence or whatever. And so you go through the receptionist at the hotel, the Pizak player, Glupor, his wife, him, and then there's closing arguments. And you can get, you can ask multiple questions or do multiple lines on each one, but you're trying to, like, game out the best possible outcome and do the stuff that's, like, people like versus the stuff that people don't like, right? And the way to get the most points is to, like, just play it very straight and safe and just be like, Did you see the murder?

No. And then either just bring up these, like, specific things for the person. Like, the wife, you need to say that she knew about the relationship. Right. And you need to prevent a lie. To admit that he planted the thing, that he planted the medal, right? And if you do all that, then he gets to go free. How does he ask when he goes free?

Like, what's the end of that? He's just like, thank you so much. Me and my wife are going to get so far away from here. We're so ready to be done with all of this And it's like And then you can talk just like the end of presumed innocent Yeah I was likewise alley I was just like listen I was just trying to

Yeah, because SELCath, like, they're a little bit like King Triton, but some of them are arieled, where it's like some are like, everything we need is under the sea. And we should not have anything to do with the surface dwellers in the galaxy at large. Right. We should just like keep our precious calto, like, you know, to ourselves and then sell it at a huge price, but stay out of everything. And other people are like. And other people are like, look at the stuff, isn't it neat?

And they're just like, they're like losing. it for this wider galaxies that's out there. Right. And in that process, some of them have also reached the conclusion that like, hey, the Republic also seems pretty cool. And we would like to meet these other races and species. And the sets seem pretty scary.

Yeah. So let's secretly set up an underwater base so that instead of waiting for the Colto to float up to the top of the water where we're scraping it up and then turning it into the Colto juice, we'll just build a base down on the bottom of the sea. And like,

get it. Why not? Easy. And the droid has an intel. Yeah, that gives them their little leg up. Right. Exactly. Exactly. Because then they don't have to pay the same outrageous rates and they can get more of it without saying that they're getting more of it and blah, blah, blah. Oh, right. of how to get into the system. The other option is data card math stuff. And the third is, is you just go back to the docking bay and fight some guys and go on the side entrance, right? So how did, so, Dup's, tell me about Dup's interrogation strategy.

Right. And then likewise, you could talk about Taylor and be like, we could make your life easy. Or you can say talk or something might happen to her. Do you see the numbers on the left hand side? yeah so if you ask if you say relax i'm not here to threaten you that gives you a point if you successfully say for the person listening at home there's a chart of three categories a thing and entering a category gives you a certain point amount so the first one gives you relax i'm not here to threaten you gives you a point we know about your companion gives you two

points and maybe we should do something about taylor gives you three points then successfully getting a persuade inside of any of these gives you two points. Your goal is to get exactly nine points, and the final two has to come from one of these bottom set of the Taylor questions. So you can over-persuade? You can over-persuade, because if you over-persuade, he blanks out from too much stimulation, and you have to shoot him with the reset juice and go back to the jump. It is so goofy. It does not, this is not anything. There's no, to be clear for the listener,

none of this is visualized in any way. There's no like... I thought it was just walk the conversational tightrope. Nope. And I thought it just decided not to make me do the relax, I'm not here to threaten you part because I got bored of doing it. Right. So I just started with we know about your companion. Which gives you two points

and then you get another two points from succeeding at one of those and then you get three from maybe we should do something about Taylor and then you get two from any follow on from that. The thing is, these are red, yellow, and green because green are the easy ones. Reds are the hard ones and yellow are the medium ones. That doesn't change your point value, but it makes it easier or harder to succeed at them. It's so frustrating. Well, and Duff's surpassing all of them. Of course. I thought it was just a, like, rote. Yep. Sequential thing. I don't even know, without digging into, like, the code, I don't know how anyone ever figured

this out besides the worst trial and error that you could do, you know? This is like, I also was like, oh, it's Duff's time. Manon, it's the planet you talk a bunch. But then all these weird mini-games are not the way to do that, you know? At least without, like, making them clear. I think it would be better if you put the meter on the screen. Cotter 2, a little bit more skill-focused. And you can kind of like get rewarded for having a bunch of skills in a different way. But I didn't have someone who was like, my go-to lock-pick person, except for Mission. I don't want to bring Mission down to the ocean. I'm kind of done with Mission. I did Mission's Quest. We're kind of, you know what I mean?

And I realized the thing about droids is that for pretty cheap, you can get the droid implants that boost, or you can find them, that boost certain skills by like four or six. And so like, HK is okay at lockpicking and okay at hacking. But if I hit pause and go into his inventory and change his implants, he goes from a five to a 15 in both of those things. That's wild. And so it's like he's a, he is a Swiss Army knife. That's where I'm going. Exactly. That's synced up, as always. And it is, it is like, suddenly like, oh, this is the value of this character. He says, I can swap what his skill build is, and he's a regenerating badass, and I'm starting to get long-range

weapons that are really good for him, and so he is, he is, he is, what are the long-range weapons that my folks need? Because I just can't find, like, compared to the melee weapons, I can't find the gun. It's just better. It is just better, fundamentally. Carth, I mean, you can do a dual-wielding pistol build. That's pretty good. And then you can do chunders, whatever, whatever his name is, Is that his name, Chunder? Chunder's Bocaster, yeah. Chunder's Bocaster. He's kind of just good off the rack.

And the key with him is also at a high enough level, he starts self-healing. So it's not like I need to keep a bunch of repair kits just to heal him up or whatever. whatever. It's been fine. You know, I do think that there are some high-level blaster rifles that you can get from Yavin that are pretty good. And there's something you can get where we're about to go and the place after that that's pretty good. None of it's as good as swords. Swords and lightsabers really is the game at like high maximalization, you know, but I don't know. It's good to have a guy with a laser rifle. You know, I want blasters. So, yeah.
