A Zen Mind Guided Meditations - 10-Minute Self Check-In Guided Meditation - How Am I?
Episode Date: November 21, 2024We so often find ourselves asking others, "How are you?"—a common gesture of care and connection. Yet, how often do we pause to ask ourselves the same question? This 10-minute meditation is an oppor...tunity to turn inward and check in with yourself. To gently ask, "How am I doing? How am I feeling? What do I need?" and to really listen to the answer. Through this practice, you will be guided to connect with your body, mind, and heart, offering yourself moments of introspection to discover what you truly need right now. This meditation is about honoring yourself—checking in, accepting yourself fully, and providing the care you deserve. Not because you’ve earned it, but simply because you are worthy of it. Thank you so much for being here.
And welcome to this guided meditation.
This meditation is meant to serve as a simple time out from your day, where you can check in with yourself.
We often move through our day, greeting people with the common phrase, how are you?
But so many times we neglect to ask ourselves this question.
So during this meditation, I invite you to check in with yourself.
To ask yourself how you're doing, how you're feeling, what's on your mind,
and what it is that you might want or need to make your day that much better.
So when you are ready, take a moment to settle into a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes if you'd like and allow yourself to arrive fully here.
Begin by taking a deep breath in through the nose and letting it out softly through the mouth.
Feeling the weight of your body being held.
by the surface beneath you, nothing else matters in this moment.
Just you, your breath, and your awareness. Taking a few more deep and slow, intentional breaths in,
and long, controlled exhales out, just allowing your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
As you breathe naturally, begin to gently.
scan your body from head to toe. Notice how your body feels today. Without judgment, without the
need to fix anything. Simply observe it. Are there places in your body that feel tight or tense,
heavy or light, warm or cool? Move through each area slowly. Starting with your head and working
all the way down towards your feet. What do you notice in your chest, your shoulders, and your hands?
What sensations are present in your belly? Your legs, your feet. Let your breath flow freely,
sending softness to any areas that feel like they need a little more attention or care.
Inviting more air, more oxygen, more prana, into any of your,
space in your body that could use it. Turn your awareness inward. In this moment, ask yourself,
how am I doing today? How am I feeling today? Whatever comes up, just let it. Notice it. Sit with it.
Remember, whatever you are feeling today, it's okay. Whether you might be feeling great today,
or maybe it's not your best.
Whatever it might be, that's the beauty of life,
being able to experience a wide, diverse spectrum of emotions,
knowing that they will all continue to ebb and flow,
come and go.
With the flow of life, there's beauty in impermanence.
Now take this next moment to ask yourself,
What do I need right now?
Maybe it's a sense of calm.
Perhaps it's more energy, more clarity, or simply rest.
Whatever comes to mind, hold it gently without any judgment.
Ask yourself, what would make me feel better or even better than I do right now?
It might be something small.
a glass of water, a moment to stretch, or maybe something bigger, like connection, movement,
or creativity. There's no right or wrong answer. Take another deep breath in and as you exhale,
allow yourself to envision one simple way that you could meet this need later today
to give yourself exactly what it is that you need.
To let your inner self know,
I hear you.
I want to show up for you.
I'm listening to you.
And I want to give you everything that you need.
Now for the next few moments,
let's just be.
Let go of thinking or planning.
Simply be here.
In stillness.
in presence, in awareness.
Notice the rhythm of your breath as it moves in and out.
Notice the aliveness in your body.
Let's check in one last time.
How do I feel now in this very moment?
No need to label or analyze.
Just observe.
Observe how you felt at the start of this meditation.
versus how you feel now.
Accept it for what it is
and sit with it
for another moment or two.
Take one more deep,
refreshing breath in
through your nose,
filling your entire body
with this beautiful life force
and let it out slowly.
And when you're ready,
gently bring your awareness
back to the room around you.
gently wiggling your fingers and your toes and gently opening your eyes
knowing that you have done something wonderful for yourself today
remember to fill your own cup first
before you go about filling the cups of others
check in with yourself
listen to yourself
and give yourself what you need.
You have done something incredible for yourself today.
Wishing you peace and love.
Namaste.
