Hello and welcome to this guided gratitude meditation,
which is perfect to be used at the end of the day as you prepare for a restful sleep.
Take a few minutes to ensure that you are comfortable and cozy,
making sure that all distractions are silenced.
You are neither too hot nor too cold.
Your clothing is comfortable and loose on your body.
And you are ready to give yourself these next few moments.
Begin by taking a deep breath in through your nose
and a slow breath out through your mouth.
Knowing your body to relax, to soften.
and to melt into this very moment.
Feel the gentle support of your bed beneath you
as it cradles your body.
Let go of any tension that you may be holding onto anywhere in your body,
inviting fresh oxygen in with every inhale
and releasing the day with every exhale.
As you lie here,
and at ease.
Know that this is your time
to pause
and to reflect.
Time to open your heart
to the simple and profound
gift of gratitude.
Let's begin by noticing
this very moment
the softness
of the pillows,
the weight of your blankets
cocooning you,
the rhythm of your breath
as it flows in and out,
feel gratitude for this sanctuary of rest,
a space where you can simply be,
how wonderful it is,
to have a safe, quiet space,
to lie down and rest.
Let's gently turn your awareness to your body,
this incredible vessel that carries you through life,
beginning with your heart,
the steady, faithful rhythm,
that began beating long before you were even aware of it.
It beats without asking for recognition,
tirelessly sustaining you,
moment after moment, day after day.
How miraculous it is.
To have a heart that loves, that feels, that simply is.
Shift your attention to your lungs,
which fill you with life,
Each breath they draw in brings oxygen, energy, and vitality.
While each exhale lets go of what no longer serves you.
This beautiful cycle, with every inhale, imagine life itself flowing into you,
and with every exhale, feel gratitude for this effortless exchange.
This incredible cycle.
Consider the muscles and bones that move to you,
through the day. Whether you walked, stood, carried, or simply stretched, these parts of you
quietly support every action, big or small. Your hands which create, hold, and connect,
your legs which bring you to the places you need to go, your feet which have walked countless
steps anchoring you to the earth. Now think about your senses and the miraculous ways in which
you experience the world. Your eyes that see light, color, and beauty, your ears that hear
laughter and music, your nose that breathes in the comforting scent of home, your skin which
feels the warmth of a hug, the softness of a blanket, fullness of a breeze. What a profound
gift it is to exist in this body, to live, to move to move.
move, to feel, and to connect with the world around you.
Take a moment to just rest in this appreciation,
letting it fill your heart with awe for all that your body does
as you continue to breathe gently.
Think back on your day.
Maybe there was a moment that made you smile.
Kind word, a warm glance, a shared laugh.
Bring that moment to mind.
and allow yourself to feel gratitude for it.
Perhaps there was someone who made your day just a little bit brighter today.
Remember, a pet, or maybe even a stranger.
Take a moment to picture them now
and let a wave of appreciation wash over you
for their presence in your life.
Let's take a moment to honor the choices that you had today,
the freedom to decide how to spend your time, what to eat, what to listen to, even now you've chosen to be here,
to dedicate this moment to yourself. What a gift it is to have that freedom. No gratitude to blossom
for the opportunities life offers, both big and small. The chance to learn, to grow, to connect, to dream, to dream,
Now let's expand this feeling of gratitude.
Imagine it filling your chest like a warm golden light,
radiating out with each and every breath,
letting it flow through every part of you,
stunning and soothing as it goes,
and as you lie here safe and embraced by the night,
feel gratitude for the simple blessings
that often go unnoticed,
the air you breathe, the water you drink, the earth that sustains you, the safety that you experience.
Now take the next few moments to reflect on anything else that you are grateful for in your life.
The memories and feelings arise naturally.
There's no rush.
Simply allow your heart to open and bask in the fullness of gratitude.
as you prepare to drift into sleep.
Feel gratitude for this day.
Every moment, every experience.
Feel gratitude for the simple act of lying down,
for the rest that you're about to receive.
Most of all, feel gratitude for you,
for showing up, for choosing to nurture yourself,
for being here.
Take one last deep breath in and sigh it out.
Know that you are held by the vastness of this gratitude.
Allow it to carry you into a peaceful, restorative sleep.
Wishing you peace and love.
Namaste.
