Hello and welcome to this guided sleep meditation. Begin by settling into a deeply comfortable position. perhaps placing a pillow underneath your knees or beside you, feeling the softness and the comfort of your bed beneath you,
Starting point is 00:02:23 doing the weight of your body to sink a little deeper into the space. It's holding you. When you're ready, you may gently close down your eyes and begin by noticing your breath exactly as it is. Feel the air as it ends. enters your body, following the natural movement of your inhale and the gentle release of your exhale, feeling your chest rise as you breathe in and feeling it fall as you breathe out. Now we'll gently move into our 4-7-8 breathing pattern. As always, don't force these counts
Starting point is 00:03:59 if anything feels uncomfortable or strained, just do the best that you can. The longer exhale allows the breath to support the vagus nerve. It invites your nervous system into a deeper state of safety and rest. So when you're ready, breathe in slowly to the count of four, hold for a count of seven, and gently release.
Starting point is 00:04:52 through your mouth for a count of eight. Again, breathing into the count of four, hold for a count of seven. The breath for a count of eight. Four, hold seven, release. Just finish the cycle of breath that you're on. And gently allow the counting to fall away. As your breath returns to its own natural rhythm, feeling the softness of each exhale, moving through you, giving your body permission to become a little heavier against the bed, feeling your shoulders melting downward, feeling the muscles around your eyes beginning to soften as you unclench your jaw, your entire face relaxes, gently welcoming rest.
Starting point is 00:07:39 To slowly move through your body, imagine yourself. Beneath the expansive glow of an autumn evening, the last traces of golden light are fading from the sky as the evening begins to deepen around you. You can feel the cold autumn air, brushing gently against your skin. Above you, the branches of a beautiful ancient oak tree. Stretching across the evening sky, its leaves painted in deep amber and warm shades of gold. Every so often, a leaf loosens from its branch as it drifts slowly through the air.
Starting point is 00:09:18 floating effortlessly before settling onto the earth beneath it. Another leaf begins to fall as you gently observe the way it moves with the breeze, becoming absorbed in this simple and beautiful moment. There is something so incredible about the way nature knows when to let go. The trees release each leaf when it sees in, has come to an end allowing the earth to reclaim what has fallen as it begins its own movement towards rest as you watch the leaves drift towards the ground allow the remnants of your own day to begin falling away with them maybe a thought from earlier floats into your awareness
Starting point is 00:11:14 imagine placing it onto one of those golden leaves much as the breeze carries it downward, witnessing it slowly drifting away from you before settling onto the earth when another thought appears. Give that one a leaf of its own, knowing it to fall and feel the spaciousness that begins to emerge. As the branches above you become lighter and feel your body becoming heavier as you sink deeper into the warmth beneath you feeling cozy and safe the evening sky continues to darken the golden colors of sunset slowly melting into the deep blue of night and feeling the coolness of the autumn air against your face while your body remains wrapped in warmth, noticing the softness surrounding your body and the comforting weight of your blankets against
Starting point is 00:13:31 your skin, arms becoming heavy against the bed, weighing this warmth and comfort to travel through your stomach, down through your life, feeling your entire body melting into this deeply restful state. Above you, another leaf. releases from its branch, floating slowly towards the earth. Now another piece of the day to leave with it. Your breath continuing to move naturally through your body, each exhale drawing you deeper into this warm cocoon of rest, the autumn evening around you,
Starting point is 00:16:03 begins to soften at the edge of the edge of the edge of the edge of the heat. and the trees become silhouettes. Beneath the night sky continue their slow descent towards the earth and you can feel yourself drifting with them as you become enveloped by the comfort of this moment
Starting point is 00:16:50 just as the earth moves through its seasons. Your body has its own natural rhythms of restoration and rest. Allow yourself to follow that rhythm now. The autumn sky fading further into the distance, the leaves becoming slower as they fall until eventually all that is left
Starting point is 00:17:50 is the feeling of your body resting here, warm beneath the blankets and soft against the pillow, letting each breath carry you deeper into sleep. wishing you a beautiful, restful, and restorative slumber. Namaste.
