A Zen Mind Guided Meditations - Sensory Meditation for Deep Presence, Awareness & Connection
Episode Date: August 26, 2026🐚This meditation takes us out of the thinking mind and into a sensory experience. So much of our lives are spent inside of our heads - thinking, planning, remembering, anticipating - while an entir...e world of sensation unfolds within the body. Rather than a traditional body scan, this practice invites you to explore sensation itself, bringing awareness to the smallest points of feeling before expanding into the experience of your body as a whole. All I ask is that you remain open and curious, noticing what you can feel and exploring what it means to experience the present moment through the body rather than the mind. Thank you so much for being here.
And welcome to this guided meditation.
During this practice, we're going to explore something incredibly simple.
We're going to feel.
We're not going to think about what we feel or try to change it.
we're simply bringing our awareness into the physical experience of being here, inside of your body,
right now. So much of our lives are experienced through the mind. We plan and anticipate,
we remember, we fantasize. And meanwhile, there is an entire world of
sensation that is unfolding beneath all of that thinking. So in this practice, rather than trying to
quiet the mind, I invite you to explore what it's like to just give your awareness somewhere else
to go into the body. When you're ready, go ahead and gently close down your eyes and begin by
noticing the physical space that you occupy. Feel the weight of your body. Notice where your body
meets the surface beneath you. Where do you feel pressure? Where do you feel almost none at all?
And bring all of your awareness into your hands without moving them, see if you can feel your
hands from the inside. Not what you imagine your hands to look like, but what do they actually
feel like? Bring your awareness all the way into the tips of your fingers. When you feel the tip of
your thumb, your index finger, can you feel the tip of your middle finger? Ring finger,
your pinky finger. Notice if there's any sensation, maybe it's a warm,
or a faint pulsing.
Perhaps it's a sensation that is so subtle
that you can't quite put a word to it.
You don't need to name it.
Just feel it.
And without looking at your hands,
how do you know where they end?
Can you actually feel the exact boundary
between your skin
and the air around you?
Bring all of your awareness.
into your feet without moving them notice what you can feel the tips of your toes the temperature of your skin
perhaps the feeling of fabric or the floor whatever happens to be touching you and can you slowly allow
that awareness to travel upward through the rest of your body experiencing the sensation
of your legs from the inside out, experiencing the sensation of your belly, of your chest,
your shoulders, your face, noticing sensation wherever it appears. And perhaps you can notice
the space around all of these areas of your body, the space around your legs, the space around your
belly, the space around your chest, around your shoulders, around your face, and gently finding
your breath. Notice where in your body you can physically feel yourself breathing, the movement
of your stomach, an expansion of your chest, or perhaps the air passing through your nose,
can you experience one full breath entirely as a sensation?
Begin to widen your awareness, even more.
Can you feel your entire body, experiencing the body as a whole?
Breathing, feeling, existing,
knowing how deeply enmeshed in this very present moment
you are as if your very being is being woven into space, time, energy, leaving an imprint in this very
moment. And can you notice how different this is from thinking about yourself? Because right now
you are experiencing yourself directly, fully, presently.
and lovingly.
If your mind begins to wander,
just come back to something you can feel,
your hands,
or your breath,
or the weight of your body against the ground.
Stay here for just a few more moments,
experiencing what it means
to be in this body,
to be in this life.
Once you feel ready,
gather your awareness,
and let it find its way to that natural rhythm of your breath.
This body is the place from which you experience your entire life.
It has been with you from the moment that you entered this world and it will be with you
for many years to come and no matter how busy the mind becomes.
Your body will always offer you something very simple
to return to the experience that is actually happening right now.
When you feel ready, you may bring some gentle movement back into your body
by wiggling your fingers and your toes and slowly opening your eyes.
As you move forward from this practice, I encourage you to see if you can keep just a little bit
of your awareness here, inside of the experience, rather than inside of the thought about it.
Wishing you so much peace and so much love. Namaste.
