Starting point is 00:01:16 There is. And his former teammates say this was no surprise, but it was also a long time coming. Of course, Ganey, a Greensboro native, played four years at NC State, made his mark on the coaching staff at Tennessee. now getting to have his first head coaching gig right here back at NC State. Wolfpack Nation ready for the Justin Ganey era. He has a big NC State history too, so I like everything about him so far. After a roller coaster of coaching turnover, hopefully we can actually be good at least for my senior year. Hopefully we could just build up at least.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Building up with the Greensboro native ready to put down roots. Today getting a look at his new digs at Lenovo. Full circle for the four-year point guard graduating in the year 2000 from NC State, Brian Keeter was a freshman when Ganey was a junior, and he remembers the coaching instincts were there even back then. I remember Justin kind of like taking a little easy on me, right? Just because I was new to it, you know, definitely not as talented some of the other guys. So I just remember him kind of taking out easy on me, kind of helped me through the process a little bit. And, you know, what I was thinking about earlier is like, you know, Justin has like a baby face, right?
Starting point is 00:02:19 Always laughing. But like he's also just a killer. When news broke that the NC State coaching job was open, Brian happened to be having dinner with another teammate. Wells who roomed with Justin Ganey for three years. What do you think is going to happen? That was shortly after we saw like Will Wade was done. And he's like, you know, Tim was like, he's not going to get the job. I was like, I think he might.
Starting point is 00:02:39 He's like, if he gets the job, I'm going to cry. Well, Q the tears of joy, Tim Wells, saying this was always Justin's destiny. And for those concerned about the fact that it's his first head coaching job, he's always been a head coach. He's been a head coach since he was 18 years old. He's been a general. and he's been a person on the court and off the court to where he's going to be a leader. He says his recruiting ability from Tennessee, his North Carolina roots, being a family man and a mentor, check all the boxes.
Starting point is 00:03:11 And his message to Wolfpack fans get ready to learn what they've known for decades. I want the world to sit back and watch greatness and watch a true legend.
