Breaking news right now at four underway. A police presence in North Raleigh. As you see here from Chopper 11, there is a large police presence at Triangle Town Center in the parking lot there following an active shooter call at the mall. And we see from Chopper 11 that presence here and looks like not a lot of people at the mall. But again, you see a lot of the police vehicles and the flashing lights. We understand at this point there's an active shooter call,

not any more information there, but we're, on the scene and we will bring you the latest on this as we get it. Also this afternoon living in an extreme drought tonight the city of Raleigh braces for new water restrictions drone 11 flying over Falls Lake today highlighting a significant decline in water levels and just to show you how bad things could get here's video from the 2007 drought Falls Lake bone dry this was the last time the area saw a drop in water levels just like what we are headed towards right now and as we keep an eye on The drought conditions, we're also watching for the extreme heat.

Thanks for joining us for this Friday edition of Iowa to choose at 4. I'm Amber Repenta. And I'm Barbara Gibbs, and it's going to be a hot one tomorrow with many areas expecting to see record highs. And then on Sunday, there will be a major cool down, and it could even bring some light, much needed rain. All right, let's go to meteorologist Cruz Medina and joins us from the first alert forecast center with the latest on the weekend. Hey, Chris. Hey there, yeah. And in case you're wondering with that little rain chance that we just mentioned for Sunday, this is not going to be a drought ending rain by any

stretch of the imagination. So showers will be spotty at best. And just to show you in one month's time, this is how much rain we would have to get to end the drought. And so for many areas, that's nine, 10 inches plus of rain. And we're just not going to see that throughout this weekend. So Saturday's going to be a completely dry day by Sunday. Just a few spotty showers is what we're expecting. But also heading into the weekend, here is that near record heat. 93 is the forecast for tomorrow in Raleigh. That's about 20 degrees above average. As we go into Sunday, those tipters, come back toward normal and they'll fall throughout the day and then by the time we get to early next week we will actually be slightly below average i'll take you outside this is north hills tipters are at 86 degrees in raleigh right now 82 in rocksboro and 88 in feyatville so we've got a range of tipters across the region but for all of us it'll be a very warm evening so walking the dog this evening no problem with that you can wear your shorts tipters will be in the 80s all through this evening eventually falling into the 70s but again it's not going to be one of those nights where we cool down significantly fast so Tipters will bottom out at around 59 degrees into your Saturday morning.

By the time we get into the afternoon, it'll be great to be outside tomorrow. Tipters will climb very quickly, so the afternoon highs should be in those low 90s. And then into Sunday, obviously, we have a big change in tipter. We'll talk about how long those cooler tipter stick around coming up in your seven-day forecast. Amber, back to you. All right, Cruz, thank you. We want to go back to that breaking news that we are following here from the top of our newscast. There is a large police presence and response here at Triangle Town Center,

in North Raleigh and our chopper is just getting these aerials over the scene. We are hearing reports that there is an active shooter at Triangle Town Center. So we are obviously working together more information right now, but you can see a lot of police there, ambulances, fire crews that are on the scene, Barbara. Yeah, actually. And you can see there are a smattering of people around that fire truck in the parking lot. Looks like they're standing around. Not sure exactly.

what they're doing, but you see all of those emergency vehicles. Lights on people standing around. This again, as Amber said, as a result of a call about an active shooter. We do not have any specific information right now about an active shooter, but this is what's happening here. If you're in the area or you're seeing all these, actually these pictures here, a lot of emergency response right now. And we are also reaching out to Triangle Town Center to see if they are evacuating them all, if this is just located. to one area. As you can see, the police tape is now going up there. And it looks like they're bringing somebody out on a stretcher as we're watching this live with you unfold.

So again, this was a called in active shooter and now you're seeing this person being brought out of the mall. You see the tape set up in front of that particular entrance. A lot of people standing around watching this person again on a stretcher being put into the back of this ambulance. people standing around watching this a major emergency response from the police and from fire and from the ambulance. Again, so we see that the person is, looks like they are at least propped up a little bit on the gurney being put in the back. A lot of people standing around again, so this active shooter call, we're hoping to find out some more information from the mall and from authorities. But right now, this is what we're seeing right now and you're watching it with

And we did see some Raleigh police officers heading into Triangle Town Center in tactical gear. Also, we saw their guns drawn as they were going in. And as far as response goes, we know the Wake County Sheriff's Office and the Highway Patrol troopers are also on scene, assisting RPD with this reported shooting here at Triangle Town Center. And you may recall there was a shooting at the mall earlier this month that actually led to a chase and a crash in Wake Forest. and that all started at Triangle Town Center as well. So we're working our news desk right now, making all the calls that we can. But we want to stay with this so you can see what is happening in real time as well. Now, this looks like the part of Triangle Town Center where it goes into the food court area.

A lot of people standing around. You see all the police tape that has been put up around this particular area. We did see that person. If you're just now tuning in, there was a person who was carried out of that particular entrance. to the mall on a stretcher, put into the back of the ambulance. Again, this was a call about an active shooter at the Triangle Town Center Mall, and you see this massive response to this. All the police vehicles, the fire truck, the ambulance says one person was brought out of the mall

and put into the back end of ambulance and we're still waiting for more official information. Steve Daniels is in the Breaking News Center. Steve, what can you tell us? Well, as we are continuing to piece this together, I can tell you, I just heard from someone who lives in Raleigh, who had a, police matter of another kind. They called the RPD for some help and they said, I'm sorry, we can't help you right now because all hands are on deck at the Triangle Town Center Mall because of what's happening. So this is the focus of all law enforcement attention, first responder

attention in that part of Northern Wake County right now. Again, looking live at Triangle Town Center from Chopper 11 overhead, we're getting our breaking news crews in position on the ground to learn more as well and to talk to those people who are gathered outside. You can see it's outside the creek side section there, that part of the triangle town center mall. That's where the focus of this attention is where we can see wake EMS, RPD, a number of other first responders there as well in some unmarked vehicles. This is obviously something the RPD trains for. They know what they're doing. They have exact protocols when they go into an active shooter situation. Generally the way this would unfold, they would get a call like

this and they would have people, their officers in SWAT gear, go inside with their long guns and work to sweep that entire mall, figure out what they are dealing with inside, and try to diffuse an active shooter if that's what they encountered inside. At this point, we have only reports that it was an active shooter there at the Triangle Town Center Mall. We don't have a description of that person. We don't know if that person has yet been disarmed. We don't know if that person may have left the area either. We don't know the circumstances surrounding this,

and we don't yet know the condition of people who may have been injured. We just did see that one man being pulled out on a wake EMS gurney put in. into an ambulance and presumably taken off to WakeMed to the trauma center there on the east side of Raleigh. As we know, Triangle Town Center has encountered some troubles recently, just business troubles. A number of the stores and malls there, department stores have closed. The Saks Fifth Avenue store there. Their final day is, I believe, tomorrow. They are shutting down entirely.

So there has been a series of problems that the Triangle Town Center has encountered. They have been trying to recover from that and figure out how to move that business forward. But this is the latest setback for them as we're trying to learn more about reports of an active shooter there and this massive RPD response at the Triangle Town Center right now. Barbara and Amber. All right. Steve, thank you. I know that we are waiting for more clarification from law enforcement about what is happening here. And you see this picture from Chopper 11 a lot major police response. One person brought out.

We are going to bring you the details on this and monitor this closely. We have a ground crew on the way to the scene and we will bring you the latest information as soon as we get it. We're going to move on now and keep an eye on Triangle Town Center, but we want to talk about the water restrictions that are set to go into effect starting Monday in and around the city of Raleigh as well. A lot of discussion about this all week. Michael Perchuk joins us live from Lake Benson Park in Garner. Michael, you spoke with residents and business owners there. How are they preparing? Amber, Barbara, while those water limitations have not yet started, you can already see the impact. of that lack of rainfall. Business is typically booming

at the start of spring here at Ken's Produce and Garden Center, though the weather has hampered sales. People are beginning to get scared of buying a lot of plants because they don't know about the rain. So it's impacting us on the retail end where we're selling a little less

than normal. Hopefully it will start raining, then they will come back and buy more, hopefully. Owner Ken Walker says he's feeling it as well. typically full of flowers lies bare. We farm also. This is messing our schedule up because we are not planning a lot of our stuff because

it's not enough moisture in the ground to get our seed up and no need to waste the time, the effort, the money, fuel. Starting Monday, Raleigh Water customers will be working under the following conditions. Most notably, those who live in odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, those and even number dresses can do so on Wednesdays. In total, Raleigh Water serves over 650,000 residents in the capital city, as well as Garner, Wake Forest, Roseville, Nightdale, Wendell, and Zebulon. And coming up at five, we speak with the local florist during her busiest time of the year,

how she is dealing with these drought conditions. In Garner, I'm Michael Purchick, ABC 11, eyewitness news. All right, Michael, thank you. And as Raleigh prepares for those water restrictions, it's also a neighbor. in Durham, a neighborhood that's on a drought watch. Officials are warning that restrictions could come if these dry conditions continue. Chopper 11 flying over Lake Mickey where levels sit at about a foot below full and as of right now the city has about 161 days of readily available water there and the little river reservoirs as well despite this extreme drought.

Major developments this afternoon in the war with Iran. Iran claims this trade of Hormuz is fully open now to commercial vessels, while the ceasefire lasts between Israel and Lebanon, that is, for the next five more days. President Trump, however, said the American blockade on Iranian ships and ports will remain in full force until Tehran reaches a deal with the U.S., and that includes on its own nuclear

program. The president initially celebrating Iran's announcement, posting on social media, the strait was fully open and ready for full passage. But then minutes later, he issued another post saying the blockade would continue. Nevertheless, the news of the straight reopening sent stocks soaring and U.S. oil prices coming down. Steve Daniels is here now with more on those big boost for the economy. Steve. Hi, Barbara. Yeah, I want to take a look at the gas prices we have been paying. Here's when the war started. Right here at the end of February, we've all been on this drive together going up and up and up. Right now, the national average is at 407 a gallon here in the triangle. We're paying 384. Our friends in Congress, our friends and

Cumberland County, a little bit lower at 372. You can see the price of gas has been coming down a little bit in recent days. Here's what I want to point out. Those oil prices today, they are now down to the levels at the early stages of the Iran war. So presumably that means that these gas prices are going to fall back down to that level pretty quickly as well. That means the prices we pay for so many things will be going down as well. Anything, of course, transported by vehicle is stuff we're paying more for right now. I want to show you how the stock markets reacted today because this was a pretty encouraging sign.

I want to show you what happened on the Dow. The stocks really shot up. This is the closing number from the Dow just a short time ago, up 1.84% closing up about 880 points at 49,453. And importantly, the S&P 500 up a lot today above 7,100, up 1.9%. That's really critical because anyone who has a 401k, that is oftentimes. tied to the S&P 500. So oil prices down, gas prices should be coming down, and the stock markets loving it on this Friday afternoon. Amber and Barbara. Yeah, big rally there on a Friday. All right, Steve, thanks for that update.

And as we had to break, we want to take you back as we continue to follow that breaking news unfolding in Raleigh. That's right. There has been a report of a shooting at Triangle Town Center Mall. You see the massive police presence there from Chopper 11. We saw one person brought out of the mall on a stretcher loaded onto an ambulance. We're waiting for more information from authorities. We will bring you the latest information.

Stay with us right after this break. All right, it's time for a check of First Alert traffic. We're looking at I-40 at Avent Ferry Road. The westbound lanes looks like there's quite a bit of cars there. Everybody's excited to head home for the weekend, and then the eastbound lanes are looking good at this time. We continue to follow the breaking news unfolding here. Chopper 11 is over Triangle Town Center, where you can see there is a very large police presence. This after reports of a shooting at Triangle Town Center came in around 3.30, excuse me, this afternoon. And as our chopper arrived over the scene, we saw obviously multiple, I'm sorry, our producer is talking to us.

Two people are now confirmed to have been shot in this without life-threatening injuries. We did see one person taken out on a stretcher and put into the back of an ambulance. But again, that has been a call about a shooting at Triangle Town Center Mall. It was reported by police active shooter,

but there is no active shooter that we understand. So we don't want to make an implication that is not true. What is happening here is two people were shot, Triangle Town Center Mall. We actually have video of one of the victims being brought out of the mall on a stretcher, loaded into the back of an ambulance. And you see here this major police presence still there at the mall. And they're staying here as far as we can tell until we get more information.

And it sounds like police are set to give an update around 445 here about what has unfolded this afternoon. at Triangle Town Center. We did see tactical teams going into the mall with their guns drawn, and you can see the crime scene tape that is up. As you may know, Triangle Town Center has been at the center of many headlines. Lately, most recently, Saks Fifth Avenue announcing that they were closing and leaving the mall. And earlier this month, there was a shooting, there was an incident that started with a shooting at Triangle Town Center and ended with a chase that ended in Wake Forest and a person taken into custody from that. Again, we're going to stay on this story. Of course, Chopper Levin over.

We have a crew on the way to the scene shooting at Triangle Town Center Mall. Two people injured, non-life-threatening injuries. And we will continue to stay on this story and bring you the latest on this as we get more information. Let's go down to another big story today, and that, of course, is the drought situation. We're in these warm temperatures and the water restrictions crews coming into effect on Monday. Yes, so not looking good in that department. We could really use some rain. And we do have some in the forecast this weekend, but it's not going to be for everyone.

So those of you that do see the rain, it'll be on Sunday. It's around midday. So late morning and into the early afternoon hours. You could see that rain chance. This is plotted for the triangle. 30%. There will likely be a few showers out there. It's just not going to be a soaking rain.

So these showers move pretty quickly. Probably won't be raining in your area for more than an hour. And you can see tip fears are going to be cooler then. But tomorrow we could still be near record at 90. 3 degrees. So this weekend it's going to start off warm and it's going to end on a cooler note. But for this evening, prepare for those warm temperatures to stick around for quite some time. 80s all the way through 7 p.m. will eventually drop into the 70s a little later tonight. But if you have plans to get dinner outside, it'd be a great evening for that. Here is first alert predictor walking us through the rest of today. So we'll have a few clouds around tonight and tipters will drop into the upper 50s by Saturday morning. So you wake up with some sunshine and just a few fair weather clouds by the afternoon. We should see the hot. is pushing back into the low and mid 90s across the region. It'll be mostly sunny early in the day. And then for the second half of the day, that's when the cloud cover will start to increase

ahead of the approaching cold front that moves in on Sunday. So that front, you can see the winds here. They're out of the northwest. That's indicating the front would have already moved into our region. So we're expecting that around six or seven in the morning. Our tipgers will be warmest before the front, so likely around four or five in the morning. And then the tipters will fall throughout the day. So by the time we get into the evening, obviously it's something.

going to be much cooler and around midday we will of course have that shower chance but that should be moving on out pretty quickly. So back to tomorrow if you have plans outside since there is at least a spotty rain chance on Sunday tomorrow's a great day for that but it's also a day to stay hydrated. Thankfully this is not going to be a super humid heat. It's going to be a dry heat kind of like what we've had the past several days but still very, very warm for this time of the year. Now with a little bit of rain that we get on Sunday depending on if your area sees rain or not since the range chance of spotty. That could help to bring the pollen counts down just a little bit into the start of next week. So the pollen is not completely going away, but we'll take any

drop in that since the pollen counts have been elevated over the past week to two weeks. But looking past Sunday, high pressure takes over. We're actually going to stay pretty cool. So it'll dry out again Monday and Tuesday. High tipter should be closer to average. So 71, that's about where we should be this time of the year. And then we'll see the tipter's staying cool through Tuesday before rebounding again into the 80s by the middle of next week. So you can see those changes here in your seven day forecast. Low 70s from Sunday all the way through Tuesday. Again, Sunday's temperature that occurs around four or five in the morning. That's 71 and then we'll see the tipter's falling into the 60s for most of the day. By the time we get into the middle of next week,

middle 80s from Wednesday all the way through Friday. And it looks like that's going to be another dry stretch possibly, you know, worsening the drop conditions we already have in effect. And we are continuing to follow breaking news unfolding in North Raleigh. Two people have been shot after an incident in Triangle Town Center. And you can see this big picture from Chopper 11,

a live picture of what's happening now. It was reported by Raleigh Police as an active shooter. But we want to clarify that for you. It is not an active shooter situation. It's an active shooter investigation. Two of people have been shot and we understand the injuries are not life-threatening. We're expecting to hear from police here momentarily. First, let's get to Steve Daniels.

He's in the Breaking News Center with more on this timeline and what we are learning. Steve? Yeah, here in the breaking news center right now, we're closely following the primary focus of the RPD, and that is finding this shooter. There has been some law enforcement activity just on the north side of the Triangle Town Center Mall in a retention pond next to the Hilton Garden Inn. We saw RPD officers there as part of this search that is underway. As you can see here, this happened outside the police activities, outside the Belk.

That's the Creekside Cafe's entrance there, the Food Court area there at the Triangle Town Center Mall. You can see a large response from RPD and Wake EMS. Here's what we know at 430. Two people were shot. They have non-life-threatening injuries. They have been taken to the hospital. The scene is now secure. And as we say, no one has been arrested.

those people who were shot are getting treated. We're waiting for an update on that. They are told the RPD says they have non-life-threatening injuries. That is the encouraging sign there. So as we continue to focus on the RPD activity and their search for this shooter, let's go to John Dowding, our reporter live on the scene there, just arriving and then picking up some details. John, what are you learning?

So Steve, we are at that area where police have a lot of attention right here near this retention pond right next to the Hilton Garden. And just look right here. You see some police officers in tactical gear near that wooded area. They just brought out a canine out there looking for. We're not exactly sure what they're looking for here. But there's been more police that have been showing up to this area here. They just put a drone into the sky as well, RPD as they are searching. Again, we cannot assume what they are searching for. But as we've been here the last five or ten minutes, we've seen more police officers come here on scene as well.

RPD as well as we've seen state troopers here in the area searching this wood. area right next to this retention pond by the Hilton Garden. And again, this is just a stone's throw from Triangle Town Center where that shooting happened, where two people have been injured as a result of that shooting. But again, right now you see on your on screen right now that canine searching through this wooded area. When we first got on scene here, there was only one police officer here, but as we've been out here longer, we've seen just more police officers showing up on scene here.

And now we're seeing some in tactical gear searching this area with a canine. Again, we cannot assume what they are looking for. RPD said earlier that they did not have any suspect information at this time. We're waiting for more updates from RPD, but right now a lot of attention being put on this retention pond near Triangle Town Center here. Again, and just seeing more police officers here around the pond. About four officers on your screen right now. We see some off on the sides as well, about five or six different police cars in this area. We've also been getting some emergency alerts on our cell phones as we've been here warning people to stay away from Triangle Town Center as this investigation continues. Again, we are not 100% sure what RPD is looking for here around this retention pond. But again, there is some activity here near this retention pond. Again, we're working to get as many details as we can here. But as we've been here in the last five, ten minutes, we've been getting more police officers here on scene. And it looks like they're now starting to shift their attention to a little bit.

further behind the retention pond, just behind a building next to the retention pond, across from the Hilton Garden in seeing more police activity around there as well. Sounds like the canine actually just started running in the opposite direction. They're off screen now, but again, a lot of activity right here in this area as police are searching right now the wooded area and the retention pond. Again, we're going to get more details about exactly what they are looking for, potentially who they are looking for. Again, we're trying to get as many details as we can here.

We'll stay out here on the scene and we'll work to get you guys as many details as we can here. And we'll just talk us back to you guys in the studio right now. Yeah, John, if you could have your photojournalist take us back live there to that activity and we'll just continue to keep an eye on that. We'll go back to that. That would be great. So presumably the RPD was acting on some kind of a tip and that's what led them there. Just to orient our viewers to what we're seeing here, where the RPD and Wakey MS response was

on the Creekside Cafe next to the Belk. So that is the north side of Triangle Town Center. And this is just adjacent to that kind of northwest of there where this Hilton Garden Inn is and this other outline outbuilding here in this retention pond. There's the mall right there, just a place. You can see it's just a stone's throw from the mall. This is on the Capitol Boulevard side there, the mall. As you know, Triangle Town Center is at I-540 and Capitol Boulevard.

That is the retention pond where there has been the focused, obviously some ducklings there who are keeping an eye on all of this police activity. But the RPD activity is right back there in that wood line, that wooded area there. That's where we see, as John has been showing us, the canines, the RPD officers there in tactical gear, highway patrol officers as well, zooming in where they kind of shifted their attention to that outbuilding there,

a neighboring business to Triangle Town Center, where they are focusing on their search for that shooter right now. That is the primary focus. after this shooting at the Triangle Town Center Mall where we know two people were shot. Thankfully, they only have non-life-threatening injuries. And right now the focus is trying to find the people who did that. But it's always fascinating to be able to live in this moment, watch it live as it's happening, the RPD in their active search right now, hoping they can track down that shooter from Triangle Town Center Mall.

And obviously, this has been a focal point for people there at the mall. The shoppers have been there. Obviously a worrisome situation. Some of them heard gunshots being fired. You can see this is another live crew we have right outside the Saks Fifth Avenue store, which is scheduled to close tomorrow. Their final day in business is actually tomorrow.

A lot of people have been going to Sakswith Avenue taking advantage of sales and other things in recent days. You can see a reasonably large number of customers there. This appears to be a family now walking out of the mall. It's not clear if maybe some people cannot get to their cars now. cars now. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those cars, some of the parking areas are now behind crime scene tape and people are unable to get in their cars and actually leave the Triangle Town Center Mall after what has been obviously a very concerning anxiety-filled afternoon for

people who work at Triangle Town Center and also the customers there as well. What we can tell you is this shooting situation has been resolved. The people who were injured in this shooting have been taken to the hospital. What remains part of the active ongoing situation there is the search for the shooter who walked into the Triangle Town Center Mall. It's not entirely clear where inside the the mall this happened but we're working to learn more. So we have a chopper 11 flying live overhead. We have ground crews there on the scene, close eyes on what's happening at Triangle Town Center Mall and at 445 we're expecting an RPD news

conference coming up in just a few minutes you'll see that live as it happens. We'll get the the direct briefing from the RPD exactly what they know who they're looking for. Stick with us. You'll watch it as we watch it live here on eyewitness news in the minutes ahead. Welcome back to eyewitness news at 4. We continue to follow breaking news. A shooting at Triangle Town Center. The police presence is still massive there,

and we're following the investigation as it happens in real time. I believe Chopper 11, this was the scene just a few moments ago. So what we know at this hour is this call came in around 3.30 for an active shooting and active shooting at Triangle Town Center, where there was some, confusion, as many people in the area received a notification on their phone that said active shooter shelter in place near Triangle Town Center. But what we know right now, there is no active shooter that is confirmed by Raleigh Police. We know that two people were shot in this. We were watching live with our chopper as one person was brought out on a stretcher and loaded into

the back of an ambulance. We are told that those two are expected to be okay after the shooting. But what we also know is that police and tactical gear and canines are on the scene. They're on a retention pond right behind the mall, and they are searching that area really intently right now. Absolutely. We've been watching them with canines, and it looked like they were really in pursuit of something interesting as we followed them. This is, again, a picture from Chopper Levin over the mall area. Again, as Amber said, there's no active shooting and shooter, but an active shooting invent. The scene, however, is secure at Triangle Town Center. They're still asking people to avoid this area, if at all possible.

They have the crime scene tape up, and I'm sure they're continuing with a lot of investigations. We have seen some people walking in the parking lot of the mall area. It looks like maybe the scene is a bit calmer now. We do not have any information about a suspect in this case, but again, we are waiting for authorities to give us an update, which they're supposed to any minute now. Yeah, and so what we do know from Raleigh Police is that Lieutenant Davis is supposed to give an update here at 445. Of course, this is a fluid situation, so we're monitoring that. There is a media staging area up right near the Belk at Triangle Town Center. But if you are in this area, you should avoid Triangle Town Center right now.

There is still an investigation ongoing. There are canines in an area at a retention pond and police and tactical gear near that area as they are searching, would presumably be the suspect in this reported shooting at Triangle Town Center that came in at 3.30 this afternoon. We know that two people were shot. They are expected to be okay. And we are awaiting an update from Raleigh Police, hopefully here within the next five minutes or so. And we are back with continuing coverage of breaking news happening right now at Triangle Town Center. There's been a shooting. Two people have been shot. What we understand is their injuries are not life-threatening, but there is an active investigation going on right now for the suspect. And we are hearing information about people who are in the mall at the time. Yeah, our reporter on the scene just spoke with these eyewitnesses that said that they were hiding in a closet. So we're trying to turn around that sound for you so you can hear from this. them as well. But we know that this all started to unfold around 3.30 this afternoon. And we also

are told that people in the area received text alerts that told them that there was an active shooter in the area and to shelter in place. And we can confirm now from Raleigh Police, there is no active shooter and the scene there is secure, but they are still searching a retention pond area not too far away from Triangle Town Center with canines and police and tactical gear as they search for perhaps what is presumably the suspect in this. Yeah, absolutely. And it is good to clarify the difference between active shooter and active shooting investigation, and that is the latter.

This is an active shooting investigation. You see the crime scene tape up here in the Triangle Town Center parking lot. The media is setting up for a briefing that we're supposed to get from Raleigh Police anytime. We'll, of course, bring that to you as soon as we get it. The chopper has been showing us scenes of where a lot of this has. has been concentrated outside of the area of the mall where there is the food court. We did at one point see one of the victims being brought out or one person actually involved being brought out of the mall on a stretcher loaded into the back of an ambulance and you see

the large police presence throughout this area of the mall. Police have the mall surrounded right now and we know that we've been watching people filtering out so they are working to get everybody out. Here's some of that ground video as we go back live to the K-9 and the tactical team that are searching the area near the mall. That canine was very active at one point when they were near a retention pond and there was some sort of building and the K-9, it seemed that they were tracking something in the area, but now they've put the K-9 away.

And again, we're waiting to hear from Raleigh Police. Lieutenant Davis is set to give an update. They set around 445, but this is a fluid situation, so we're just waiting for them to get to the scene. Right, let's go to John Dowding. He's on the ground force there outside the mall. John, what can continue to tell us now? So we are now for vantage point perspective. We're on the other side of that retention pond near the Hilton Garden Inn.

Right behind me here, we just are seeing some of those tactical officers getting into their vehicles with their canine. It looks like they have suspended the search near the Hilton Garden Inn where the retention pond is. But we are on another side of this area over here where there was another neighborhood. And I was speaking with a police officer there. He said they are still searching for one suspect near another retention. on the closer side to the mall here. Again, and for perspective, this area, there are a lot of apartment complexes.

There are some townhomes in this area. So there's a lot of locations that police officers have to search for right now to find these suspects. But as I can tell you right now, I just talked to a police officer who was on scene. He was trying to, he told us that they are still searching for one suspect. Right now you're seeing some of those tactical officers

leaving the scene here. They were the ones out earlier that you saw with a canine looking through the wooded area here around the retention. pond as well. Again, this is a large search area for these suspects involved in that shooting at Triangle Town Center. We're seeing police officers, not just Riley police officers, but state troopers, as well as other officers in tactical gear, long guns in residential neighborhoods on a Friday evening as people are coming home from school, coming home from work, and they're coming home

to see police officers in their neighborhood looking for these suspects. Again, we are going to keep you updated here and show you more scenes as police continue this search for the suspects here, but again, as I can tell you, one of the officers I just spoke to told me they are still on the lookout for one suspect in the area here after that shooting at Town Center, a triangle town center. Hey, John, I got a question for you. I know that we've seen a lot of people who are, it seemed like they were in the mall at the time and they were walking around the parking lot. Did you get any sense of, did they feel like that the situation had kind of come to a little bit of a calm or how did people feel outside? So we actually haven't even had the chance to get to the mall. When we first got on scene here, we've been out here kind of following the police officers as they've been searching for the suspect. So we haven't even had the chance to get close to the mall.

And to be completely honest, it's difficult to get close to the mall right now. As you can imagine, police officers have a lot of those locations blocked off. Nobody is allowed to go in or out of the mall as that investigation continues. But a lot of the people here in the neighborhoods that we've been seeing, some of the apartment complexes, some of the townhomes here, a lot of people here are. A lot of people here are just nervous, as you can imagine, because they're seeing police officers in tactical gear. They're seeing them with long guns walking around the neighborhood. We're seeing police officers come in and out of some of the different apartment complexes,

as well as some of the different townhome communities around here as well, just looking for this suspect. But again, right now, the activity is shifting from where we are to it looks like another area further that way. I wish I could say north, southeast or west. We're all over the place right now. But it's a little bit closer to the mall. I would probably say south, more, an area is south. closer to the mall, looks like that's where they're continuing their search for one of these suspects. So we're going to go ahead and try to just follow along and see more updates we can give you guys.

We also are talking to some eyewitnesses on the scene that are telling us that they heard about six or seven shots inside Triangle Town Center when this all unfolded. And we want to give you an interview that we did with someone at the billionaire's barber shop. person works there, they're telling us that they hid in the bathroom as this unfolded. Let's take a listen. I'm very shook up because I wasn't expecting this, you know, here.

But things happen everywhere, but I'm very shucking up because I have my grandson with me. And so, yeah, it's not a good feeling. What are police telling you, have you guys heard anything? So again, they were saying they were shaken up. Of course, she had her grandson with her. They were in the mall. I believe that they are the proprietors of that. business there hidden the bathroom when they heard the shots so glad that they're okay and what we

understand two people were shot we understand they have non-life-threatening injuries but the search is on as you have been seeing from our video and from our live pictures that the search for the suspect is still on an alarming afternoon for many in the area as well receiving a text message telling them to shelter in place with reports of an active shooter but we can tell you there is no active shooter this is now a shooting investigation two people were injured at triangle town center this afternoon.
