Right now at four, get ready to get loud.
Yeah, the sirens will be sounding once again tonight at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh for game two of the Stanley Cup final.
The Canes looking to tie the series against the Vegas Golden Knights.
We play our game that we can dominate a series.
And as we count out the game two, we have your view from the ground and the sky as Caniak start arriving this hour at the Lenovo Center.
From fan excitement to the fight on the ice, we've got you covered inside and out, Lenovo.
IWitness News 4 starts now.
Right now, live coverage from your local news leader,
keeping you connected to your community,
and your first alert forecast.
Here's what's happening where you live.
This is ABC 11-I Witness News.
Right now at 4, the clock is ticking.
In just a few hours, the Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Nights
will return to the ice for game two of the Stanley Cup final.
And it is light, camera, ready for the action in Raleighwood tonight.
We have Chopper 11 flying over the Lenovo Center where the Kaniacs are beginning to gather this afternoon.
That's the view right there.
That parking lot will be filling up and we're there for all of it as it unfolds through the evening and into the night right here on ABC 11.
And thank you for watching.
I'm this season four.
I'm Barbara Gibbs.
Hi, everyone. I'm Steve Daniels.
Yeah, it is game day.
ABC 11 is the place to be for the pregame fun and the action on the ice at the Lenovo Center.
Be careful on this ice.
I know. I'm trying not to slip.
Yeah, okay. Get your skates on.
Tonight, right now, the Canes fever is really taking over here in the triangle and beyond.
People coming from near and far to watch the Carolina Hurricanes and the Vegas Golden Knights face off in game two tonight of the Stanley Cup final.
That's right. That's right.
The puck drop is at 8 o'clock over at Lenovo Center.
The Cane's hoping for that comeback win following Tuesday's loss.
So we have live team coverage from inside and outside Lenovo Center.
Let's go to Ambera Pinta, who's live at Lenovo where the party is just getting started.
Hey, guys.
Hey, Barbara and Steve.
Yeah, the band has been warming up here for that free concert that starts at 5.30 tonight.
And it is once again an electric vibe out here at the Lenovo Center.
As we get ready here for the Stanley Cup final game two, watch parties are happening once again tonight across Raleigh as well.
For game two, there's more square.
The party there gets underway at seven.
But this is where so much is happening tonight.
Also in Raleigh, the Rialto Theater is opening its doors for Game 2.
That's going to be tonight at 715 and admission is free.
But all throughout these playoffs, excuse me, the Keynes Foundation has used this as an opportunity
to give back to our community as well.
I want to tell you about how this latest round that they have advanced to is benefiting right
back into the community.
So first of all, with the round one advancement in the playoffs, the Keynes Foundation gave a $50,000
grant there to the Ronald McDonald House charities of the triangle.
Of course, they provide housing meals and support for families with seriously ill or injured children.
And then the hardest yard was round two.
Another 50K.
Round three went to the Nate McMillan Foundation.
That's a Raleigh-based nonprofit that mentors young boys.
And now tonight, with this round four to the Stanley Cup final, the Keynes just announced today that another $50,000 grant is going to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
That's going to provide 150,000 meals for our community, for those in need.
And we caught up with Amy Daniels, the executive director, and she says it's just such a great way to use these playoffs and now the final here to give back.
The Cains are hosting watch parties here at Lenovo Center while the team's on the road in Vegas.
It's an exciting time to let people watch on the big screen here in the arena.
And the foundation gets to receive the ticket revenue to help us do things like these special grants and other funding and investment back in the community throughout the year.
So that is a total of $200,000 at the Keynes Foundation has given to these local non-profits and North Carolina nonprofits to directly make an impact throughout all of these playoff series.
And now here we are at the final.
So a big give there and it'll go a really long way for the foundation.
They'll be giving that check tonight during the second period during a timeout.
So look on the ice for that.
Now, of course, if you can't make it out here to the Lenovo Center for the big game tonight, watch parties are happening once again tonight.
all across Raleigh for Game 2 and Moore Square.
That party gets underway here at 7.
Also in Raleigh, the Rialto Theater, as we said, opening its doors for game 2.
Those doors will open at 715 admission there's free.
Local Carolina alehouse restaurants are also hosting watch parties.
So that's where you can go and take in some energy.
Let's go to DeWan Hogarth.
He is feeling things out, getting the vibe check with all the fans that are out here.
Nice and early, DeWan.
How's it going?
Well, so far right now, Amber, good afternoon to you.
First off, we took it on the chin for game one, but for game two tonight, we're hoping that by the end of the evening, we have a W coming out of the Lenovo Center.
We can add another flag right there to the front of the entrance there.
Now, it's a little bit early.
It's still a little, a little bit thin here in the parking lot, but I do, I did find two Kaniak faithfuls.
This is Paul here in his makeshift lazy boy chair, and then, and then Lori.
They weren't here for game one, but they decided game two was the game that they would come out.
And see the Keynes here on the ice.
How you feeling?
Really good.
pumped. I can tell that you're really, really pumped. So why game two, why not game one,
and what are we hoping for tonight? Well, we knew game two would probably be a game that we had to
win. I always worry about game one. I just have suspicions. The last game we were here,
we were here when we beat the Panthers this regular season, and that was a real game because
we won nine to one. So this is, we feel like this is the game to be at right now.
We're feeling good. Feeling good, feeling great. I like the attitude. Look, they've got
a couple of coolers here. They've got their fan, which we're still trying to get this to work.
If I did this for a while, it might provide y'all with some relief.
And then they've got the little grill here for some hot dogs. So folks are slowly starting to show up,
but we're still really excited for a game two tonight here at the Lenovo Center. And hopefully,
arcane's can pull out with the win tonight. Amber.
All right. The fans are fired up. They're out here early. That's how you do it and miss all that.
Traffic, Duon. Thank you. All right. If you're heading out here to the Lenovo Center,
to tailgate or to head to the game, it's a great day for.
It is warm though. Take a look at this bird's eye view. This is Chopper 11 where you can see some of the cars are already starting to fill the parking lot. Let's toss it over to Big Weather and LJ. Lauren Johnson's out here. Hey guys.
Hello Amber. I just have one question for you. I know you promised low humidity. Is this what I'm feeling? Is this low humidity?
This is low humidity. Believe it or not. It's going to get worse as we go through the next several days. But tonight, warmer than we saw last time. Let's check the current temperatures. And as we show you what's happening out there,
right now you can see we are in the 80s today instead of the 70s like we saw last week 87 in raleigh
in Fayetteville so if you're headed out to do some tailgating tonight let's go ahead and show you that
tailgating forecast and you'll see those temperatures across the region staying in the 80s all the way
through game time as a matter of fact for the post game we'll see temperatures in the low 80s to
upper 70s we'll talk more about that in your complete forecast coming up I got to tell you what
Amber, one of the things that is tough about being here tonight between you and Lauren rocking the style.
And me and my dumb golf shirt had to get a different hat because the last hat they lost.
It's weird to be a thorn amongst the roses.
You're very sweet, very sweet.
I struggle today, but I said I have Canes colors.
I don't have Canes gear.
So that's what we're doing.
A little black, a little red and a little white.
I like it.
All right.
Amber.
Lauren, you brought the glam and that might be the lucky charm we need.
We'll keep bringing it if they, you know, clenched tonight. Thanks, guys. You look great, by the way.
All right. The Cains, by the way, did hit the ice today ahead of this game two. They did have a practice.
This was the first time they practiced since game one, and they appear to be ready.
So let's get more now inside with Kate Rodgerson and Trayvon Miles.
Hey, guys, it's still early in this series, but tell us how important tonight's game really is.
Super important, Amber, cannot underscore just how crazy this environment should be.
and Kamiaks really hoping for a win.
Love getting down on this perspective down here near the ice.
Trey, you know I love a stat.
Everybody at home knows I love a stat.
Teams that take a two-game series lead in the Stanley Cup final.
Go on to win this series over 90% of the time.
So when we talk about how big this series is, the Kane's got to win.
This is a must-win game.
We're here inside Lenovo Center.
We want to give you a look at the ice that come before the storm, as we always say,
a moment of peace before this place turns into an absolutely crazy atmosphere.
Yeah, it's going to be really, really crazy.
And down in this end in particular, the Keynes really struggled in game number one.
We talk about their defense and how they want to tighten things up.
They really didn't do that in the second period.
We talked to some defensemen earlier tonight.
Here's what they want to do on this side of the ice.
What we expect for tonight, yeah, we got to be better.
We got to be better in our D zone.
We got to tighten up a couple things.
And then we got to break our puck out better.
I mean, honestly, they're a good team and they're here for a reason.
And so, you know, they're going to bring their D zone.
best again and we got to be able to bring ours. Defensively, you know, be tighter in our structure.
You know, they're a team that, you know, they won't shoot the puck, as you can see last night,
but they also can make plays down low. So I think as defensively as a team, we've got to be structured down there.
When it comes to responding after a loss of Carolina hurricanes have proven, they know how to do that.
They've been lost back-to-back games at home since January 3rd, so we're expecting this team to come out with some firepower tonight.
Yeah, we are in familiar territory, right? Game 1 against Montreal was not great. Game 2. They came and
tighten things up. That's what they said in the locker room, guys. That's what we're expecting
tonight. Look, they've had extraordinary momentum through the entire playoffs, and they've done a
close analysis. It sounds like we know from your reporting over the past couple days what needs
to change tonight going into game too. I know. And the fans think they can do it. We think they can do it.
Let's see a win tonight on the ice. Thank you so much, Amber Trey and Kate. And we'll continue
to keep up with you throughout the evening. Yeah, we'll see us soon. And we'll have team coverage
throughout the chase for the Stanley Cup and every night we have pre-game specials for you before the puck drops.
Chasing the cup airs tonight at 730 right here on ABC 11 and wherever you stream.
And then stick around for game two of the Stanley Cup final.
It airs right here on ABC 11 at 8 o'clock. Go Canes.
Financial challenges making headlines at today's state of the city and county forum in Raleigh.
As you know, Wake County leaders are raising our property taxes and Raleigh leaders are preparing to raise taxes on us too.
Coming up, why the mayor says the city needs more money from taxpayers.
Plus, sentencing day for the man charged with killing a downtown Raleigh restaurant manager.
We are in the courtroom as justice has served for the family of David Millett.
And all new here on eyewitness News of four, we have the video showing the moment those two Vance County inmates broke out at jail.
The latest in the search for these guys on the run and considered armed and dangerous.
And let's go back to Lenovo Center, a live look at the action ahead of game time, country music, smash duo, Dan and Shia.
will take the stage for a free concert at 530.
A watch party also happening again tonight.
Our live team coverage for the chase for the cup continues.
And a live look from Chopper 11 overhead right now.
Steve Stewart keeping an eye on the roads in and out of the Lenovo Center.
Yeah, absolutely.
You can imagine it's a bit slow right now, but there's a good shot.
The traffic looks to be moving along just fine.
It's going to be filling up obviously here fairly quickly.
Really nice tailgating weather out there this evening.
Boy, the heat is going to get cranked up.
We're going to talk about that coming up in weather.
But first, here's your traffic hotspots.
Brought to you by the First Alert Forecast Team.
The ABC 11 First Alert Forecast Team is working to keep you safe.
One ease across the region.
Some cloud cover starting to build.
That rain is going to push on through.
A cold air coming in.
The First Alert Forecast Team.
Only on ABC 11, eyewitness News.
IWitness News.
We are Local News Weeknights 4 to 630 and 11.
New this afternoon.
A Wake County murder case that's been unfolding for years now is nearing its end.
Tyrell Moore has pleaded guilty in the 2023 death of David Millett, a restaurant manager who died after a fight with Moore in Glenwood South.
Today, a Wake County judge sentenced Moore to between three and nearly five years in prison.
Cindy Bay is live outside the Wake County Courthouse with more on this. Cindy?
Yeah, Barbara, just a sad situation for Millett's family.
They call the sentence insufficient. They say the past three years have been emotional and exhaust.
Plus today's hearing comes after a last minute delay on Monday when Moore was hospitalized for a medical issue.
He returned to court today for the hearing.
Three years after David Millett's death in Glenwood South, his family finally has a sentence and some measure of closure.
I'm glad that he has received punishment, but it doesn't feel anywhere near adequate for taking someone's life.
Tyrell Moore was originally charged with murder after prosecutors said a fight caused the injuries that led to Millett's death.
He later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
After a medical delay earlier this week, Moore returned to court Thursday and was sentenced to three to five years in prison.
No audio recording was allowed in the courtroom and Moore did not address the court.
Millett's family called the violence senseless.
He never once showed any remorse or regret for having done what he did.
Never. And so that's that's very disappointing.
And so coming up, we'll have more on how Millett's loved ones are honoring his memory today and their reaction to a week that included the unexpected delay in the sentencing hearing.
In Raleigh, Cindy, Cindy, A.B.C. 11, Iwindus News.
Cindy, emotional day today. Thank you for that report.
New here at four, the Vance County Sheriff's Office is sharing surveillance video showing the moment two inmates broke out of the Vance County Jail yesterday.
but it's still not clear how they were able to escape and make their getaway.
Here's that video.
That's 33-year-old Michael Miles, also known as Mike Mike, and 21-year-old Lashon-Nott.
You can see them running down the hall here.
The men escaped from the Vance County Jail about 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon,
and now new digital billboards are going up across the state to help in the ongoing search.
We checked jail records and found both their serving time for drug and weapons offenses.
Police say if you see Miles or not call 911 and do not approach them,
they are considered armed and dangerous.
and the Vance County Sheriff's Office also asking people who live around the jail to check their home surveillance systems to see if they have any video of those guys making their getaway.
Today the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce held its annual state of the city and county event.
It is a chance for local officials and top business leaders to get a fresh look at everything happening in our community.
Elena Athens was there. She joins us now from the Raleigh eyewitness News Center.
Elena, good afternoon to you. What happened today?
Yeah, well, the way County Chair Barbara says that it has been a tough year.
the level that they prefer. Wake County has already imposed a property tax hike. The city of
Raleigh is looking to do the same and is leaving residents here frustrated. We got about
1,500 cases that's still in appeal, which is affecting us as well. And of course, with the Blue Ridge,
we are looking at losing anywhere between 10 to 12 million dollars there. So it's just a number of things.
From taxes to construction cost issues, Way County and the city of Raleigh, diving into some of the
financial hardships they're facing during today's joint state of the city and county.
County commissioners approved a two-cent property tax hike earlier this week, and today,
Raleigh Mayor Janet Cowes spoke about the city's proposed 1.7 cent property tax increase.
She says Raleigh's revenues are down about $2 million, and the city needs to fill the gap.
The increases are coming as folks are facing higher food and gas prices.
Energy bills could also go up.
Duke Energy is currently seeking an 18% rate hike on residential.
customers and state regulators are expected to rule on that in the fall.
They're going to do what they're they were going to do. That's how I feel and either we pay it or
we move again. All right. So that resident just moved to Raleigh after spending years in Wake
Force, why she made that decision. And if it's still worth it to her, we'll have it coming up ahead
at 5 o'clock for now we're live in the Raleigh, I Witness News Center. Elaine Athens, ABC 11,
eyewitness News. It'd be interesting to delve into the budgeting side of this story as well,
Elaine and maybe we can get to that as well. Thank you for that report. All right. Let's talk about first alert weather.
High's near 90 today and by this weekend we're expecting the upper 90s. Don said look anybody visiting
from Vegas they're going to feel right at home with those 90s because it feels dry. It's not the
normal triangle humidity we get. It's like an oven right Steve? That's got a meteorologist Don Schwinterger out at Lenovo center.
It's like you know it's a dry heat but it's still hot Don. Yeah I mean you can stick your head in an oven and that's a dry heat too.
So there you go. Listen, I got asked a great question from a viewer that really made me wonder.
They're like, I was watching the NBA championship last night on ABC 11, and they had a giant
championship trophy in the middle of the floor. How come we don't see a Stanley Cup anywhere on
the ice when we look at Lenovo Center? You just don't see a Stanley Cup anywhere around the ice.
There's a reason for it. If you want to know what it is, go to my social media, Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, TikTok. I put the answer on there. It may not be what you think, but there is a reason why there isn't a Stanley Cup actually built into the surface they play on. That's on my social media. Let's talk more about the heat that's out there right now. For that, we go back to the meteorologist in charge at this hour. That's Steve Stewart. He's standing by with the latest on that big warm up. Steve. All right, Don, thank you very much. Yeah, you're right. Numbers are going to go up. Today, not terrible. We're still in the 80s. Humidity is in check, but the numbers are really going to start to go up in a big way. But a fantastic evening. Five.
up the grill, take a walk around the neighborhood before the big game tonight because here comes the heat. It's really going to start tomorrow with the summer sizzler. The hottest day probably on Sunday we're flirting with 100 degrees folks and the drought's going to get worse because there's really low rain chances here. There is a front that's going to come in on Monday, but the moisture is really limited here. Isolated shower and thunderstorm here and there, but look at the heat that's coming our way. We come down to 87, which is still above average and then right back to the 90s again on Wednesday and that starts yet.
another stretch in 90s.
If you believe some of the European model,
what we're looking at,
it could be in the high 90s or even low 100s.
That might be a little far-fetched,
but the heat is here for sure.
And we're still in the extreme drought
in our northern counties and parts of Wake County.
The watershed here continues to be an issue
because we haven't had rain in the right spot.
So Falls Lake now five feet below full pool.
It's been 15 years since it's been that low.
Now you go back to 2007, 2008.
It was nearly nine feet below.
That was the record so it can get worse and it likely will because we just don't have much rain coming our way.
Sunday evening isolated shower thunderstorm and then we'll continue isolated on Monday.
A lot of us are going to completely miss out.
We've got the heat.
We don't have the rain.
It's not going to be good.
88 into North Hills right now.
The light breeze about five miles an hour feels like 84.
That's because the dew point is so low.
A bit of a reverse heat index again.
84 in Roxborough, 86 into Irwin and Fayville at 87.
If you want to take a walk through the neighborhood, it's going to be fantastic.
We'll get down to the low 80s by the time we get to 8 o'clock.
But with lower humidity, that's fantastic.
Not tomorrow.
We're going to crank up the temperature at 94, 95 on Saturday, Sunday who got us at 98, maybe an evening storm,
are one decent chance, and it's only about a 40% chance at getting a storm is going to be on Monday.
Still in the 90s.
One dip in the temperature, guys, and it's still 87.
We go right back to the 90s and looking long term into the next.
weekend we can be in the mid to upper 90s again. So we'll appreciate that brief break from the
90s coming up on Tuesday. Yeah. But it is coming. Thank you, Steve. Coming up to slowdown on Capitol
Hill over the war with Iran. Yeah, coming up here, Congress delivering a rare rebuke of President
Trump as he tries to strike a deal to end the war with Iran. And how the president responds,
he also says that he will dominate Todd Blanche or nominate Todd Blanche to be Attorney General.
We've got new reaction from North Carolina Senator Tom Tillis and why.
why he says he's not so sure about the president's pick.
And we're covering all the action at the Lenovo Center, a live look right there.
The concert stage is ready to go.
Dan and Shea, the country music duo, taking the stage there.
We'll show that to you live as it happens.
Our entire team, they're getting ready for game two tonight.
We've got Chopper 11 overhead, our entire team on the ground.
And remember, the game is right here on ABC 11 at 8 o'clock tonight.
We are back now with the latest in the war with Iran,
and President Trump firing back today as Congress,
delivers a rare rebuke.
House lawmakers passing a resolution to stop his actions in Iran without congressional approval.
The move is largely symbolic.
The president calling it, quote, meaningless.
He's also called the four Republicans who voted with Democrats, quote, unpatriotic.
The resolution now moves to the Senate.
It comes as the president is trying to negotiate a deal with Iran.
Trump saying a deal could be reached as soon as this weekend.
And President Trump has decided on a successor to Pam Bondi as the country's attorney general.
Trump says he'll nominate Todd Blanche.
Blanche, as you know, has been serving as active.
Attorney General for two months since the firing of Pan Bondi.
North Carolina Senator Tom Tillis says he has not made up his mind about supporting Todd Blanche
for Attorney General.
We're looking at it.
I haven't made a decision yet that the key for Todd or anybody going through Judiciary Committee
is being pretty tight on January the 6th.
They better not have said for one minute that the people that beat up police officers
like these right down here were righteous people.
You come even close to saying that.
don't have a chair of getting my vote.
Tillis is expected to offer an amendment to try and permanently shut down that controversial anti-weaponization
fund. He believes that action might help Blanche's nomination in Congress.
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton plans to plead guilty to one charge of illegal
retention of sensitive national security information. That is according to three sources familiar
with the matter. Bolton has reportedly agreed to pay a more than $2 million fine. He could
also go to prison for up to five years or he could be sentenced to no time in prison.
prison. Bolton is accused of keeping diary entries in his home that document the year he served
under President Trump in Trump's first administration. Prosecutors also said Bolton used a personal
email account to share some of those files with his wife and daughter. That came to light when
the FBI opened an investigation after suspected Iranian hackers got access to the account.
All right, it's game night in Raleigh. And if you're heading out to the Lenovo Center to see the
Keynes face off against the Vegas Golden Knights, you could be paying top dollar to park.
That's right. You're lucky, though. You got a ticket. After the break, we've got some tips on how you can get the most bang for your buck tonight.
We are local news. ABC 11 eyewitness news continues now.
All right, we got the countdown clock running here. We are counting down to game two of the Stanley Cup final. Puck drops at 8 o'clock tonight in Raleigh. As you know, the Keynes are hosting the Vegas Golden Knights in game two. And they're hoping to rebound from their game one loss and really regain the momentum in the series.
That's right. We've got to tie it up tonight. Fans from all over are heading to.
to the triangle tonight for the big game.
Let's take a look at the roads.
This is a live look at Edwards Mill and Durley Roads
and Raleigh near the Lenovo Center.
Looks like there's a light stream of traffic,
no problems here, but it's only gonna get really busy
as we get closer to game time.
Yeah, if you're heading that way,
you're gonna run into heavy game traffic.
We know that, and if you're heading out tonight,
we hope you'll look for the eyewitness news team.
We're all over the place there.
Amber Rupinted alive at the Lenovo Center.
A lot of big energy out there.
You took half the team with you out there today.
I know we're all out here because this is the place to be.
We have the whole team out here tonight.
You can hear the music behind me.
That's a DJ, but there is going to be a free concert getting underway here at 5.30.
Also, I want to throw this out there because breaking news just came in about the siren sounders.
We got Cam Ward in the house sounding the siren.
Antoine Jameson, a basketball player, and then Dan Morgan, another athlete as well.
So those are your three siren sounders tonight.
It's going to be rocket here inside Lenovo.
We have Jemise Price standing by.
She is with some fans on the South Lawn talking to them.
First, though, we want to head over to big weather.
Don, it is so warm out here for the tailgate.
It really is.
I've noticed there aren't as many people around as there were the other night.
I think people are waiting a little longer to come out and really enjoy the party that's going on.
It's funny.
I would like to point out to the Carolina Hurricanes that the hurricanes are,
1 and 0 when I'm the siren sounder. Just throwing it out there. I know you got bigger names than me,
but I just thought I'd put it out there. It is warmer today, about 10 degrees warmer than we saw
for the game just two nights ago. We're not in the real heat just yet. That works in this weekend,
and the humidity is relatively lower. Steve Stewart, meteorologist Steve Stewart, is getting the
latest numbers into the weather computer. He'll have an update coming up in just a couple of
minutes. But right now, let's go out to Jemise. She's standing by with some of the folks who are having fun out here on a Thursday night. Jamise.
Hey, Don, the energy is already high. We know it's not as many people as we've seen for game one, but still folks are coming out here. I was in the store not too long ago, and it was packed. But where I am right now on stage, this is the best place to be for the pre-watch party where Dan and Shay plans to hit the stage within the next stage.
hour. We're also here with DJ Il's. He's the one in charge of the vibes for the pre-watch party.
What's the energy been like for these pre-watch parties? Well, last Tuesday was amazing,
and I'm hoping today is just as big. From what I've seen online, this place is going to just
sell out and be completely bonkers. And you're going to bring this same energy inside Lenovo
tonight. How do you keep that energy going with the crowd? Because I love the music selections.
But what I do is always are prepared for any situation.
So if it's a defensive player offensive, I'm always just going off the cuff and just watching
the crowd and filling the energy.
Definitely.
Well, you're definitely keeping the vibes going because the music is always on point.
So we appreciate you and we're looking forward to this watch party tonight.
So thank you DJ Eels here.
So again, the best seat right now on this stage.
So a lot of energy and I'm here for it.
I mean you're by the stage Dan and Shay you're talking to the DJ I I would want to be
with Jamiesie's I want to miss you got a mic in her hand what are you singing
Jamies you're rocking that country vibe there
I might as well perform come and check me out come and check me out here I go get it
James one two three
James you know don't don't give her a stage in a microphone I mean anything can

We'll see what we can do about getting you in there to be the siren sounder, too, with your record there at the Lenovo Center.
All right, if you're heading out to the Lenovo Center for Game 2, your wallet needs a game plan too.
Let's start with the most expensive option for parking.
Parking there, if you show up without a prepaid pass, you're looking to pay $95, up from $75 from the last round of the playoffs.
But if you plan ahead and you prepay through ParkWiz, you can knock that down to $65.
Yeah, supply and demand, people.
Ride share is faster about 12 minutes from 5%.
downtown, but budget $19 to $24 each way and expect heavy surge pricing after the final buzzer.
Okay, but we got to wait for you to save money. Check this out. This is the money smart move for you.
Take the Go Raleigh bus route, the 27L bus. It's a buck 25 each way. So a couple pays just $5
round trip. Now the bus does drop you off a short walk from the arena, but the last bus runs
about 11 p.m. So you got to keep an eye on the clock too because the game could run a little
past 11 o'clock.

and left one in critical condition, all of them siblings.
This happened with their mother behind the wheel in Fayetteville late last night.
Penelope Lopez is learning some new details tonight about the investigation,
including how fast troopers say the woman was driving right before that,
deadly crash. I witness news has learned that the 29-year-old mother was driving 111 miles per hour
before slamming into the tree. I spoke with one neighbor who said she heard the moment it happened.
I heard a car racing down the road and then a thud. Sarah Wallace lives less than a mile away from where the deadly crash happened.
There were no squealing, there was no braking, there was no crying, there were no sounds, and then shortly thereafter all the sirens started coming.
North Carolina Highway Patrol told eyewitness news that Fayetteville police were conducting a traffic stop down the road when the woman fled.
Fayetteville Police Department responded to the crash on Cedar Creek Road around 11 p.m.
When they arrived, officers found the White Kia mangled around a tree.
Less than 20 minutes later, two of her children, both under 10 years old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The third child, also under 10, was ejected from the car, taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later airless.
to UNC Hospital. The mother was also injured, but is expected to recover. And the state trooper

dollars. Investigators say the vehicles were stolen from locations across north in South Carolina.
They believe dozens of additional vehicles connected to this scheme are unaccounted for.
Andre Jump of Hope Mills and Prince Betts of Rayford are both facing multiple charges.
Happening tonight, a big school board vote could result in the future of three elementary schools in Chapel Hill, Carborough.
District leaders will decide the fate of Ephesus, Glenwood, and Sewell Elementary Schools.
Only one will survive that cut.
Parents and community members have already had their say at several public hearings.
And now it's up to the board.
The district says shrinking enrollment and state funding cuts have left them no choice.
The board meets tonight at 7 o'clock.
We will have the results as soon as that vote is decided.
And that is your speed speed.
Steve back to you.
All right, Barbara, summer break is just days away from many kids across the triangle.
I know a lot of families you're counting down right now.
And with the school year ending, the State Department of Public Construction is making sure kids don't go hungry this summer with its sun meals program.

It's for all kids, 18 and under.
You don't need proof of income to apply.

The canes are back on the ice tonight at the Lenovo Center for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final.
And coming up here, we're getting an inside look at people who work at the arena
and exactly how they're getting ready for game night.
You're coming into my house.
This is my party.
Let me make sure you're having fun.
They are getting the party going for tonight and as we head to break.
We want to take another look from Chopper 11 flying over the Lenovo Center.
We also have our crews on the ground.
We're getting ready for the big concert there coming up in just a little bit.
It's Dan and Shay, the country music duo there, the DJ keeping things rocking right now.

Tamara Scott went behind the scenes with more on how workers are getting ready for tonight's big game.
We're getting an inside look inside the Lenovo Center ahead of game two today.
Not just the players getting ready for the big game, but also the workers who are working very hard to make sure the fans have a great experience.
You know, there's good days, there's bad days, but overall, I mean, I wouldn't be here if I didn't like it.
Yeah, there's no question Joni Owens loves her job here at the Lenovo Center.
She's been working in this corner of the arena since it opened 25 years ago, which means she saw the last Stanley Cup final.
What was that feeling like?
I was like, wow, I never would have imagined.
No. I mean, I've never experienced anything that exciting.
20 years later, while the canes get in their morning skate and the workers lay out the game two towels, she's once again preparing for a Stanley Cup final game two.
There's a lot of behind the scenes in the food and beverage department especially with stocking and cleaning and just making sure when the fans do come in, they have a really good time because it is all about the guest.
The merchandise and trinkets are some of the bestsellers, but she says the atmosphere,
Excitement is what she looks forward to.
The little kids that come up and are so excited.
You know, I got a stick or I got a puck.
Yeah.
You know, they get so excited.
And I love seeing that in their eyes.
You're coming into my house.
This is my party.
Let me make sure you're having fun.
So if you're anywhere near Section 113 tonight,
Joni is going to take great care of you.
I asked her what her favorite snack is to watch a game like this.
She said brownies.
They're not yet on the menu,
but she says she's campaigning to get them there for the next game.
Tamara Scott, ABC 11.
news. But she's like, this is my house. Let me make sure you're comfortable. You know,
sometimes you forget all the work that goes in and the people that make great service over there.
Yeah, Joni's rolling out the red carpet. I like the idea of brownies. That's a good idea, too.
All right. Let's show you what's happening outside the Lenovo Center right now. We have Chopper 11 flying
over the arena, giving us a bird's eye view as the parking lots filling up. There's the
stage right there we've been showing you where the concert's going to be happening. And our team
is right down there where those tents are keeping track of all the action. Yeah, it's getting filled up.
as the minutes go by. We've got eyes on the ground as well, and Amber is back with more on
all the fun happening outside the Lenovo Center. Amber, I know it's a little warm out there.
People, more people showing up, right? I mean, it doesn't seem to be bothering anybody out here,
Barbara. What's a little heat when they are going to, you know, catch fire on the ice tonight?
You know how you like to tell me all the time? Put a little stank on it? Look what I found,
Barbara. Put a little stank on it t-shirt for Logan stank open. I mean, come on people. The merch is all
like fire as well out here. All right. You hear the DJs behind me and as we've been saying,
the concert's getting underway at about 5.30 and we're going to have some special visitors stopping
by to see us here in the 5 o'clock hour party is just getting going. Gates are open. I mean,
people get here early. Officially it opens at 5.30, but they're open. You can come out and set up your tailgate.
The ABC 11 team is out here with a Lenovo Center takeover for ABC 11 as we get ready for game two and put some stank on it.
No, put a lot of stank on it.
I need that shirt, Amber.
That is awesome.
It's for you, sister.
It's for you.
I love it.
All right.
That's awesome.
And Amber makes a good point.
You don't need a ticket to get inside to the game to actually enjoy all the fun outside in the parking lot.
That's right.
You got a DJ.
You got Dan and Shay.
You got a lot of fun.
You got all the people like cooking out.
out there tailgating.
And the Iwood news scene, come say hi to our.
Amber Repenta, go say hi.
We'll see you soon.
Thanks a lot.
All right, the weather is absolutely perfect.
This is one of those days where, you know,
national TV, global TV attention on the triangle because of the game.
And people are saying, hey, they've got a good thing going in Raleigh.
Yeah, that's right.
Don't move here.
We got enough.
Right.
Let's hold off on that suggestion.
Yeah, it is really nice.
Low humidity is a key because if it was due points in the 70, there'd be some unhappy.
That's easy.
Yeah, it looks great out there right now.
It's going to be a wonderful evening to get out.
Again, temperatures are going to come down.
Maybe fire the grill up.
Just take a walk through the neighborhood before the big game tonight.
Summer Sizzler really starts tomorrow.
We go to the mid-90s and it's going to last for a good three, maybe four days.
Sunday being probably the hottest day.
Unfortunately, the drought's going to get worse.
Just low-range chances.
Maybe Sunday evening will get an isolated storm as the front gets closer to us from the north.
And then we'll keep that smaller chance going as we go into Monday.
It's just isolated.
This is not the type of rain that we need.
We need good soaking rain.
88 at North Hills right now, but the dew point of 40, so it feels cooler because the evaporation is pretty efficient.
So it feels like 84, a light breeze at about five miles an hour.
Wide spread mid upper 80s, fairly uniform temperatures out there with Oxford, one of the cooler spots at 83 degrees.
Meantime, little baseball tonight if you're heading out to Durham to watch the game there.
88 as you're walking in the debap when you head home pretty nice, getting down to 71 degrees under mainly clear sky.
If you're out tonight, you can see Jupiter and Venus really low on the horizon.
95 on our Saturday, some high clouds will be with us, really going to be a decent day.
A hot, good day to get out to the pool, but not necessarily going to be humid.
This front gets closer to us as stray evening storm as possible as that front settles to our south.
We have that risk of an isolated shower, thunderstorm as we go into our Monday.
Tonight we'll be in the upper 50s, mid-50s, and Roxburgh, 60 in Fayetteville.
A pleasant evening tonight.
And then for tomorrow, we're cranking up the heat.
A few high clouds and those numbers are going to be in the low to even maybe some mid 90s.
First of all right seven day we keep it hot all the way through Monday.
The hottest day, 98 on Sunday.
The record for the day is 100.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get up there close to that 100.
Humidity drops again behind the front on Tuesday, but that's short-lived guys.
We go right back to the 90s again and more humid as we get into Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and even next weekend, likely mid-90s.
June cranky up early.
Yeah, summer is here.
Steve, thanks.
Coming up, all new here on I Witness News 4, violent crime numbers are up in the city of Durham.
We're hearing from local emergency room doctors who say they're seeing more and more gun violence victims come in their message to the community.
