Next on eyewitnesses at four new details in the investigation into a Wake County teacher accused of committing child sex crimes.
The I-team has obtained new documents outlining the timeline of those crimes.
And honoring those who've made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,
we take you to Fort Bragg where there's thousands of boots on display,
paying tribute to service members who died while on duty.
And hip-hop music will take over the streets of Durham this weekend,
the annual Bimbe Festival making a return.
We're checking with organizers ahead of the big event.
And from apex to medicine cabinets all across the country in today's North Carolina made,
we introduce you to the man behind OM Botanical, how it all started as an effort to help heal his sunskin.
I Witness News at 4 starts right now.
Right now, live coverage from your local news leader, keeping you connected to your community and your first alert forecast.
Here's what's happening where you live.
This is ABC 11 I Witness News.
Right now at Ford, the I team uncovers new details in the investigation into a Wake County teacher facing more than a dozen child sex crimes right now.
A look into new court documents and what may reveal.
Thank you for joining us for the news at 4. I'm Barbara Gibbs.
And I'm Lauren Johnson. Amber has the day off right now at 4. The ABC 11 I team is learning new details into the arrest of a Wake County teacher.
He's now facing more than a dozen child sex crime charges.
Court documents released just this afternoon provide more detail and to the extent of that alleged abuse that prosecutors say was committed by a Broughton high school teacher.
John Dowding is live for us from the Raleigh of Medicine Center. John, give us the new details.
Well, Barbara Lauren, just disturbing new details we're learning in court today from those court documents.
The I-team learning those details from court documents published this afternoon.
Prosecutors believe the alleged abuse took place for almost a decade and involves three different victims.
New details into the abuse allegedly committed by a Wake County teacher.
Prosecutors say Stephen Coles faces more than a dozen child sex crimes charges tied to incidents
involving at least three victims over several years.
Court documents published Friday outline details tied to some of the charges Coles is facing.
In court documents, investigators say Coles allegedly sexually abused a child for almost a decade
from 2005 to 2014.
Investigators say this happened at least six times during that time period.
Coles works as an automotive teacher at Broughton High School.
The district told families Thursday the alleged incidents did not happen at the school.
Cole served with a local scouting America troop in Raleigh.
The organization revoked his membership and permanently banned his participation in their events.
It comes, as Raleigh police tell us, the investigation is still underway.
Well, Coles is due back in court on Monday.
Coming up at five legal experts, break down the detail.
of this case with us and share what evidence prosecutors would look to present live from the Raleigh Witness News Center.
I'm John Douting. ABC 11, eyewitness news.
Yeah, it looks to be mounting evidence in this case. John Doughting, thank you.
Well, the Friday night dinner rush will look a little bit different for one downtown Raleigh business.
Check out this video.
It shows the damage outside of bittersweet cocktail and dessert lounge on East Martin Street in Raleigh.
The restaurant says a drunk driver crashed into the building overnight.
Elena Athens has been live there all day for us in Raleigh.
What are you learning more about this incident, Elena?
Well, we're still working to speak to police.
What exactly happened here?
They've not confirmed that just yet.
However, this patio space you see here is called a streetery,
and that is going to be closed on this Friday night after a hit and run incident.
Where you see that yellow tape, they're supposed to be,
supposed to be a wooden barrier to separate diners from the drivers on the road.
Police are investigating this incident.
People we've been speaking with say the incident raises serious concerns
about the safety of the city-approved buildouts.
We had a few work events there.
That's kind of crazy.
I didn't even realize this will happen, though.
One of Bitter's Suites owners tells me off-camera.
She's thankful nobody was sitting in this space when the incident happened.
Police say around 150 this morning, officers responded in the vicinity for a report of a hit-and-run.
The driver broke the wooden barrier and knocked down tables and chairs.
These streetery spaces are permitted by the city.
Businesses can apply to convert on-street parking spaces outside.
of their establishment into added outdoor seating.
Natalie Cara works at a barbershop across from Bitter's Sweet.
She says there's been close calls on this road and she thinks the buildouts sit far too close to
the roadway.
I usually just eat inside because all these buses and all this traffic, you never know.
Somebody might be texting even on a sunny day like this and crash into it.
And that's what happened over there last night.
So I have taken these safety concerns to the city of Raleigh,
spokesperson tells me nobody was able to respond this afternoon. Coming up ahead at five o'clock,
what some people are calling for now. We'll have that coming up here on eyewitness news. For now,
we're live in downtown Raleigh, Elena, Athens, ABC 11 eyewitness news. Right, Elena, thank you.
All right, let's turn our attention now to first alert weather, a very chilly start to the weekend.
Walker's at Joyner Park in Wake Forest, taking full advantage of these varied mild temperatures.
Way to go pushing that stroller giving mom some help. And we hope you enjoyed the cooler temperatures
because guess what a major warm up is on the way. The chief.
is joining us now in the First Alert Forecast Center. Don, we could see some really intense temperatures this weekend.
Yeah, we're talking 90s by Sunday.
We'll talk more about that coming up in just a bit.
Good evening to you.
We're taking a live look at First Alert Doppler net tonight.
Scanning the skies, not seeing any rainfall out there.
We'll stay rain free all night long.
As a matter of fact, just a few high serious clouds working through 74 degrees right now.
Just a beautiful spring day, mostly cloudy, and a variable wind at seven miles an hour.
Temperatures from across the region, 72 for you in Lewisburg.
74 out your door, Rocky Mount, 74 Goldsboro, 75.
Southern Pines. You okay over there? Somebody dropped. Okay, good. It just Lauren dropped her phone.
Gonna need a new screen on that one, I'll bet. All right, let's say what's happening as far as the 24-hour
temperature change. 6 to 7 degrees above where we were yesterday in the northern counties. Even the
southern counties are a couple of degrees warmer. So let's first alert you to that evening ahead.
Dinner plans outside, great night for it. Those numbers in the 70s falling through the 60s by 10 o'clock
We're down to 62 degrees.
We'll talk more about that big warm up on the way and a first alert to your seven-day forecast all coming up in just a bit.
All right, Don, thank you.
And now is a very good time to download that ABC 11 mobile app will send you all the weather headlines directly to your devices.
You can also check the first alert doffler net and that seven-day forecast at any time.
Well, a man is seriously injured after a shooting in Durham.
It begins our four o'clock speed feed on this Friday.
It happened just before one o'clock this afternoon in the 1,000 block of Merrick Street,
11 shows the investigator searching for evidence.
Durham police say gunshots were fired from a car and then the driver left the scene.
The man shot was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Sanford police make an arrest in a deadly shooting.
It happened late last night on Linden Avenue.
Officers found 34-year-old Judy Jones shot in the chest and she later died at the hospital.
Officers detained 34-year-old Chris Sean Alston at the scene.
He's now charged with murder.
Police did not say if the two knew each other, Alston is being held.
without bond. All right, check out this video just happened hours ago when Johnston County,
a driver slams into a brick column outside this Lowe's food grocery store on US 70 and Clayton.
Chopper 11 over the scene. If you can look closely, you can see that column. There was a brick facade
around it, and now that brick facade is on the ground. The SUV is badly damaged as well.
We're told that there are minor injuries involved. We're waiting to find out how many people are
hurt and what led to this crash. And a major traffic alert for drivers in Wake County,
starting tonight, Western Boulevard and its connections with the Raleigh Beltline will close
for the weekend as contractors work to get the interchange into its final form. Chop 11 over the
scene today, Western Boulevard and all the ramps to and from the beltline are scheduled to close
at 8 o'clock tonight and will not reopen until 5 a.m. Monday. Coming up on eyewitnesses at 4.30,
our traffic reporter Anna Rivera shows us what detours you're going to want to take if you're in this
area this weekend. And that's your speed feed. Lauren, back to you. All right, let's go to the
Bull City now where the annual Bimbe cultural arts festivals happening this weekend. And there's
a big names taking the stage, including hip hop legend Dougie Fresh, who will headline this
year's festival. Akela Davis is live in Durham. Akela, you talk to the organizers ahead of this
event. We know one thing for sure. It will be hot outside this weekend, Akela. It will be hot
indeed, Lauren. Listen, the city of Durham says Bimbe is a go this year. It will be hot outside. It will be hot. It will be hot.
and headliner Dougie Fresh will in fact take the stage, but I also got a chance to speak with,
I want to say, one of the creatives on this year's lineup.
A lot of times when people think about DJs, they do tend to think of men or males, and I love
showing them that women can also be great curators of sounds.
In the last 20 years, the city of Durham says DJ Gemini is only the second woman to take over
the ones and twos at the Ben Bay Cultural Arts Festival.
Rock Corey Park is expected to draw thousands.
for the free family-friendly celebration of African and African-American culture.
Hip-hop legend, Dougie Fresh, is this year's headliner.
His appearance comes just two years after the city of Durham paid booking agent Christopher Weeks,
$37,000 to bring R&B singer Monica to the festival.
But she never showed.
Organizers say despite that controversy, there is a lot of excitement heading into this year's event.
In fact, there has been events all week leading up to tomorrow's festival,
starting with the Bimbe block party that happened Wednesday.
Just yesterday, we had a cipher at the bowl where local artists and musicians came out to showcase their skills.
They grabbed the mic, they got on the decks, and they threw down some beats.
So that was fun.
And actually, tonight we have the Bimbe teen skate party in conjunction with Wheels Durham.
So was the city of Durham ever fully repaid after the Monica mix-up, the monica controversy ahead at five, I'll tell you where things stand.
Reporting live in Durham, Akela Davis, ABC 11, eyewitness news.
All right, some big fun on tap for the weekend.
Akila, thank you in the capital city.
The Got to be NC Festival returns to the state fairgrounds this weekend.
Chopper 11 flying over the midway this afternoon.
The free event features a daily tractor parade, carnival rides and games,
along with classic fair food, music, and much more.
It runs today through Sunday.
Get some of that fair food before the actual fair comes.
It's always good.
So good.
All right, still to come.
President Trump is returning home after the historic high-stakes.
summit in China. How the president says the trip went and the conversations that happened there
about the ongoing war in Iran. And signs of progress in western North Carolina, Lake Lure
has officially reopened 20 months after Hurricane Helene hit the area what Governor Josh
Dine had to say about the major milestone. And we're taking a live look at I-40 and 540 this
hour, volume fairly light right now usually is a little lighter on Friday afternoons as we
head to break here, your traffic hotspots brought to you by the first alert forecasting.
EC11 first alert forecast team is working to keep you safe.
Oneies across the region.
Some cloud cover starting to build.
That rain is going to push on through.
Cold air coming in.
The first alert forecast team.
Only on ABC 11, IWitness News.
Eye witness news.
We are local news weeknights four to six 30 and 11.
Right now at four, President Trump returns to Washington today.
After several meetings with his Chinese counterpart, Trump and she repeatedly exchanged flattery during the two days.
summit, but it is not clear what, if anything, has been agreed upon and there's now growing
uncertainty over the future of the U.S. relationship with Taiwan with Chinese state media
reporting a warning. President Xi giving the U.S. a warning that it should not try to interfere
with China's efforts to take over Taiwan. ABC's Christian Cordero has the latest from Washington.
Today, President Trump arrives back to the White House, touting the past two days of meetings with
Chinese President Xi Jinping as a win. Trump says he secured business.
business deals with China, including the sale of Boeing jets and American soybeans, but hasn't offered
specifics. Neither Boeing nor the Chinese government have commented. And on the war with Iran,
Trump had hoped she would use his leverage to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The president now
says he doesn't need that help. I'm not asking for any favors, because when you ask for favors,
you have to do favors in return. The street has been effectively closed to commercial ship traffic,
but according to Iranian state media, diplomatic negotiations.
between China and Iran have allowed for some Chinese vessels to pass through.
The U.S. has docked for control of the strait in the 11 weeks since the war began.
The United States has moved most of its military assets to the Middle East.
We have lessened our influence in the Indo-Pacific.
Taiwan, of course, is a big issue for China.
They like to see the fact that we have had to shift our forces away from their area of the world.
Chinese state media reports President Xi warned Trump not to interfere with China's efforts to take over Taiwan.
In a statement online, Taiwan's foreign minister emphasized the relationship the U.S. in Taiwan have had for decades to protect Taiwan's independence.
Trump today would not confirm the next round of arms sales to Taiwan saying this.
I have to speak to the person that right now is, you know, you know who he is that's running Taiwan.
That conversation would be historic if it happens.
Never in the 47 years since the U.S. set up its defense agreement with Taiwan has a sitting U.S. president spoken with a Taiwanese leader directly.
Kristianne Quarro, ABC News, Washington.
New It Four, a New York judge has declared a mistrial in the retrial of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
After two days of deliberations, the jury could not reach a verdict.
Weinstein was being tried for the third time over allegations.
He raped an aspiring actress in a Manhattan hotel room in 2013.
In 2020, Weinstein was convicted of the charge, but that was overturned.
In his first retrial, jurors were also deadlocked.
He will remain in prison.
He was previously convicted of other sex crimes in New York and California.
Today is Jerome Powell's last day as chairman of the Federal Reserve.
His eight-year term wraps up today.
But he plans to remain on the board of governors until that term expires in January of 2028.
Powell will be succeeded by Kevin Warsh, who was confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday.
He takes over at a time when inflation pressures are intensified.
due to the war with the wrong.
Back here in North Carolina,
leaders in Western Carolina,
making a mile, marking a milestone,
the reopening of Lake Lour,
the lake has been closed for nearly a year and a half
after Hurricane Helene hit the area,
leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Governor Josh Dine, joining state leaders
and local officials in Western North Carolina
for this reopening.
But in this past 20 months
has been anything but typical.
In a just 24-hour period,
Hurricane Helene turned people's lives
upside down and those impacts continue to ripple to this day. But as overwhelming as the storm was,
the immediate response and the way that people supported each other, restored vital resources,
and began rebuilding was just as remarkable. Stein was in Canton yesterday calling for more
federal recovery funding. He's also seeking $792 million from the state in his budget proposal.
Following breaking news right now, a Garner Middle School is on lockdown after a threat is made against the campus during dismissal.
Garner Police responding to the North Garner Middle School.
After the school's resource officer reported a threat, law enforcement advised the school to go into a full code red lockdown,
bringing students who'd already gone out of the building back into the building.
The school has since moved to a code yellow while police and Wake County Public School security continue their investigation.
Officials say there's no indication of an imminent threat to the campus.
but again we'll keep you posted on this breaking news all right barbara i hope you have uh your
ac ready to work this weekend because don says it's going to be hot oh yeah well we're used to
because of how he keeps it cooling here do you really want to talk about this right now yeah
this studio gets awfully warm in front of company right exactly we can't have a family
right barbara loves it when it's 90 degrees in the studio so there you go but big guys do not too well
in the heat. That's all I'm going to say. All right, live look at first alert Doppler net tonight,
scanning the skies. We're dry across our part of the Carolinas. We will stay that way all evening
long. Let's take live look in North Hills. Some high serious clouds working through. Temperature right
now, 74, mostly cloudy and winds are light less than 10 miles an hour. We'll go from the 70s
to the 50s tonight. Not as cold. Last night we saw 40s. We were down to 44. Tonight will be about
10 degrees warmer for those overnight lows across the region. As a matter of fact, you
wake up on your Saturday morning, maybe for a walk or run. It'll be cooler earlier. By 9 o'clock,
we're in the 60s, 10 o'clock we're in the 70s. By lunchtime, we're talking almost 80 degrees.
Satellite radar composite shows the clear skies up above, just the high thin clouds working through,
zoom it out. You have some showers through Ohio. You have rain back through Missouri and Arkansas,
but around here we are dry. We will stay that way through the overnight into tomorrow.
First alert predictor forecast model.
We'll stop it at 11 o'clock tonight for ABC 11 at 11.
Temperatures will be in the 60s and we will be dry.
So good news there.
Then as we head through the day tomorrow, 7 o'clock, you'll start today in the 50s.
As we get into the afternoon, we'll see those temperatures climbing into the 80s.
Pretty typical day.
Our normal high is 80.
We'll be a couple of degrees above that tomorrow.
And then the heat starts to work back in.
As we go through tomorrow night into Sunday, wake up Sunday morning.
maybe it headed to church or for a walk or run.
Temperatures will be in the 60s instead of 50s.
We will see some more cloud cover.
Those southwest winds really pushing in the humidity.
You see little pop-ups of green on here.
That is not rain.
That's just the model trying to decide how to deal with the increase in humidity.
But we will see that humidity starting to ramp up on Sunday.
You'll really notice it as we get into Tuesday and into Wednesday.
Those numbers climbing into the 90s on Sunday.
And then by Monday, we're back to 70.
Now here's the surface map Sunday. We've got those southwest winds pushing us into the 90s. And we just don't see much of a change as we get into Monday. We're still got those southwest winds. We've still got the 90s. Any weather makers are well out to the west. Forecast looks like this for tomorrow. Temperatures across the region in the 80s, 84, Durham 86, Raleigh, 86 in Fayetteville. First alert, seven-day forecast shows temperatures in the 90s on Sunday, Monday 93, Tuesday,
92, Wednesday 93, and the feels like temperatures Tuesday, Wednesday could be approaching mid to upper 90s.
Rain chances return Wednesday night into Thursday and some cooler air as we go into next week.
But I went back in the way back machine.
The last time we had 4 90 degree days in a row was just 2022.
So it hasn't been that long four years ago.
It's not unheard of, but it's going to be hot the next several days.
Ladies.
I hope this is not foreshadowing.
I know.
I do not want that for summer.
is indeed. Don, thank you.
You bet.

So to come, a powerful display of patriotism.
That's right. Coming up, volunteers coming together at Fort Prague today.
For the Boots on the Ground Memorial honoring fallen military members.
We are local news. ABC 11 eyewitness news continues now.
We're following new details tonight into the car that crashed into a Lowe's food grocery store in Clayton.
Police say a driver hit one of the support columns at that store on Clayton Boulevard.
The driver also hit a second vehicle in the process.
The driver of that second car was not hurt.
However, the at-fault driver was transported with injuries.
Town inspectors evaluated the building and determined it is structurally sound.
At this time, it's still not clear what caused the crash.
Well, we are back now with a moving display of American Pride at Port Prague.
More than 7,000 boots lined up in Hendrick Stadium.
paying tribute to service members who died in combat since September 11th, 2001.
ABC's Padalpi Lopez reports on this powerful display of patriotism.
The 14th annual event brings the community together.
Each boot represents a story, and this year 20 new boots were added to this tribute.
We have a chance to reflect on our fallen soldiers, but also to show our family members that their loved ones is not forgotten.
Veteran Tony Pugh says there's not a day that goes by when he doesn't.
doesn't think about his fallen brothers and sisters in uniform.
It's uplifting to be able to come out, to place a boot on the field,
to actually see that picture that fallen soldier,
to know that we are thinking about that family member as well,
but it's really uplifting.
Today, he and 150 volunteers carefully placed 7,500 boots
all adorned with an American flag,
each boot marking a soldier's life, lost.
It's a powerful reminder that though they are gone,
Though they are gone, they are never forgotten.
I try to get out here every year to pay my respects because some of these guys will be forgotten,
but I just don't want to get to the point where I forget them.
Retired Third Special Forces veteran Gene Dorlius says it's an opportunity to show his son
how honoring the fallen keeps their memory and courage alive.
Because some of these guys out here I do know, I have served with.
So it takes me back to those days where we were down range, running and gunning, just innocent kids, right?
trying to figure it out. But it also really helped me understand, hey, this is the true cause
of what this country is. And coming up, we'll hear from a son who placed his father's boot on the
field, how he continues to inspire him and so many others. Reporting at Fort Bragg, I'm Penelope
Lopez, ABC 11, eyewitness news. Penelope, thank you. Powerful images there, and we should not
ever forget. As part of National Police Week, today is National Peace Officer and Memorial Day.
Governor Stein has ordered flags across the state to be flown at half staff.
He says, quote, today, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.
National Police Week runs through tomorrow.
Now to that weekend, traffic alert for drivers in Raleigh, starting tonight, Western Boulevard and its connections with the Raleigh Beltline will be closed as contractors work on getting the interchange into its final form.
Traffic reporter Anna Rivera shows us what detours you'll need to take if you're traveling in that area this weekend.
So this is a traffic alert you're definitely going to want to listen to, especially.
if you're going to be in this area.
This is at Western Boulevard and 440.
That's where we're going to see probably some pretty significant delays.
And that's because some significant traffic construction is going to be happening.
So you'll need to focus on this.
The on and off ramps up 440 and Western Boulevard,
that's where we're going to see those closures while they do that construction work.
And it all started on Friday night.
And it's going to continue until Monday at 5 in the morning,
which is a pretty significant chunk of time.
So if you're going to be there at all this weekend,
you'll definitely want to look for that alternate route.
So the options there are Melbourne or Hillsborough,
and they will be marked.
So just follow those detours,
and you'll be off to a better start
than if you try to go anywhere near Western and 440.
All right, Anna, thank you.
Well, this week, a campaign is underway in North Carolina roads
called move over or get pulled over.
It is to remind drivers to move over
or slow down for emergency and public service vehicles.
Drivers are also urged not to block
or follow emergency vehicles too closely
and to stay more than a hundred.
feet away from emergency scenes. If you violate the state's move over law, you can get fined up to
$250 plus court costs and even criminal charges. The campaign runs through this weekend.
New at 4 o'clock, a Wake County principal has been named the 2026 North Carolina principal
of the year. Dr. Mariah Walker, principal at Wake Young Women's Leadership Academy,
received the honor at a ceremony in Carrie this afternoon. Dr. Walker is a longtime educator
who's led the all-girl school to a 100% graduation rate over the past four years.
My goal is to serve our students and to continue to serve our teachers.
And I hope at this way or in this level, I'll also be able to serve principals
and just continue to encourage and inspire people to believe that sometimes you may walk in as one,
but you are surrounded by so many other people.
And it's when we work together that we're unstoppable in our passion for what we do.
Dr. Walker will spend the next year sharing her passion,
in traveling the state as an ambassador for public education.
Eight other finalists from across North Carolina were also recognized.
Great work there.
Absolutely, and congratulations.
Also, you are invited to a birthday celebration in Hillsborough.
Big Spoon Roasters is celebrating 15 years in business,
making award-winning nut butter products.
Co-owners Mark and Megan Overbay started out small,
making high-quality nut butters and energy bars in Durham,
and now they have a booming facility in Hillsborough.
It's hard to believe.
Sometimes it feels like it's been 15 years and then some.
Some days are longer than others if you're an entrepreneur.
But at the same time, it feels like it was yesterday when we started it.
So yeah, it's hard to believe, but we're really grateful for where we are.
Big Spoon Roaster's Birthday Bash is Saturday.
That's tomorrow, May the 16th from 1 to 4 p.m.
You can sip, sample and shop their products.
There'll be other vendors there.
And it all benefits Harper's home, which helps families whose children are being treated at Duke Hospital,

They're great people. I want to try all their stuff. I know. It looks so good. It does.
Still ahead, the race to contain the hunt of virus. We're hearing from the only American to test
positive from the cruise ship and learning more about his condition. And Waymo, recalling thousands of
itself driving cars, why the cars are being pulled off the streets. Kind of scary. And as we go to
break, here's a live look at the Raleigh Skyline on this Friday afternoon. Boy, it is beautiful out there.
Health Organization today says there is no evidence showing the Hanta virus has changed to become
more transmissible. The agency says they do believe the outbreak is contained, but more people
could test positive because of the long incubation period. ABC's Perry Russum is in New York.
The World Health Organization says conducting an active investigation in South America to find
the source of the deadly Honta virus outbreak. We are working with people in Argentina
who are looking at the movements of those people, also looking at past Hanta virus outbreaks.
breaks in South America.
The WHO racing to map the entire route of the outbreak before and after the cruise ship left Argentina.
Work is being done in labs around the world.
The agency saying today there is no evidence showing the virus has changed to become more transmissible
or more severe.
The WHO says the risk to the global population remains low.
Because of the long incubation period of up to six weeks, more cases may be reported in coming
days as passengers return to their countries. At least 41 Americans in a dozen states coast to coast
are being monitored for hanta virus. The CDC says 16 of them were not on the cruise where this
outbreak started. They may have been exposed during travel on flights. Only one American is known
to have initially tested positive on the cruise ship, Dr. Stephen Cornfield, the acting doctor on the ship.
The medical director of the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit tells ABC News, she does not believe Cornfield
ever had the virus. That's what I suspect was that an initial test was false positive.
Cornfield's most recent tests came back negative. Now he's weighing whether to stay in Nebraska to
quarantine or finish the recommended 42 days at his home in Bend, Oregon. I think everybody in this
unit is sort of having that discussion with their own health system and with their family.
The World Health Organization says the efforts to contain the virus are working. Again,
they are stressing the risk to the global population remains low.
low. Perry Russum, EBC News, New York. Time now for some news you can use. Waymo is recalling more
than 3,700 vehicles over a software issue, and that could cause cars to drive into floods.
According to federal safety officials, the self-driving cars may slow down, but failed to stop
after detecting a flooded roadway. The issue came to light last month after an unoccupied,
unoccupied Waymo drove into a flooded road at about 40 miles an hour. The company says the car
detected the flooding, but continued moving at a slower speed, Waymo says it is working on a
permanent fix. All right, if you live in or visit remote areas, you could soon notice a better
cell phone signal. Three top mobile carriers are teaming up to tackle dead zones. In a news release,
AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon say that their joint venture involves enhancing satellite capacity.
With the improvements, customers will be able to get signals even when they're far away
from cell phone towers. And Krispy Cream is serving up a sweet,

All right, if you are looking for something to watch this weekend, a brand new, hilarious comedy
special called Lisa Ann Walters. It was an accident. Hit streaming today. The Abbott Elementary
Star filmed one of her stand-up routines last summer in Philadelphia. And it is a moment.
She says that's almost four decades in the making.
She sat down with a host of the view to talk about the special.
I wanted it to be like it feels when you're in a comedy club.
And you feel the laughter.
It starts in the front of the room and it works its way back and there's waitresses.
And something happens that will never happen again.
And that happened several times in this special that I set a line that I have never said in my life.
And I will never say it again.
It just occurred to me in the moment and it was funny.
All right.
And you can watch The View every day morning.
morning's at 11 o'clock right here on ABC 11.
All right, Barbara and not having too much fun today.
Today's top trending stories in real news.
First, some might call this the ultimate dinner heist.
The Royal Canadian, look at this little guy.
Mountain police says officers responded after reports of a theft of barbecue foods.
The sly suspect was described as, quote, red hair, shortened stature, wearing a really thick coat.
They say they were able to track down the culprit who was caught trying to conceal the evidence with hot dogs
in its mouth. The RCMP says the victims declined to press charges after being out foxed by
this little guy. All right, it wasn't your typical traffic snarl in Colorado recently. Check out
what happened when officers responded and found an angry four-legged Jay Walker with big teeth
blocking a road away. After trying to talk that beaver into continuing across the road to a pond,
they had to get creative and use a traffic cone to encourage it. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going.
You gotta keep moving.
Posted about the incident on Facebook,
the officers joke.
They use their critical incident training for this little guy.
The creatures are out and about, right?
All right.
Imagine walking outside your home and you see this.
Look at this, multiple kangaroos out in the driveway.
Well, a New South Wales resident caught this local kangaroo.
It's a little meeting session.
Look at them.
Residents of Lake McQuire says they've become accustomed to sharing their locality,
with those kangaroos, neighbors say the kangaroos,
they visit regularly, and a local man who feeds them
feeds them kangaroo pellet.
So I guess it's safe to say they were just meeting up
to get something to eat.
Okay, if you don't know about our Barbara Gibbs,
she's not just a talented news anchor.
Do you see this cake?
She baked it.
Check out this beautiful bride to be cake and cookies that she made.
Wait till you see the cookies.
The cake is impressive enough,
But the cookies really set it off. Do you see them over there in the basket? Look at these cookies.
The cake and the cookies. She did it both. I cannot believe this. Barbara Gibbs. This was fun. It was a friend of
mine's daughter getting married and it was a bridesmaid luncheon and so they said, hey, can you bring
some cake and cookies? So you're like, not only can I bring some cake and cookies, I brought
the cake and cookies. It was fun. And everybody's been sweet about saying that they liked it.
Well, we've seen her creations because she does them for people here at work for their birthdays.
This is your best one yet, I think.
Thank you. And I'm not taking orders. So y'all, this is my job.
This is her real job. That's my hobby.
Okay, but how long does it take you from beginning to end for something like this?
It takes a while because I freeze it and have to do it in stages because I have a day job.
Because you got a real job.
Yeah, but I had fun doing those cookies. That was fun.
Look at that.
So maybe one of these days. Who knows?
Who knows?
Don Swinnaker, I see you staring. Are you drooling?
If your daughter gets married, I'll make her some cookies for her.
Oh, Maddie girl.
How about you just make one for your girl friend Don?
Let me check.
I mean, why we got to have a big old special occasion?
You know, I like cake any time.
So actually, and to be honest, her cakes are fantastic.
Oh, thank you.
As much as I like to give her hard time.
I'll make thermometer cookies.
Oh, that's cute.
That's cute.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, wait and see when those show up.
Live luck.
