What are you willing to sacrifice and what are you willing to give up to find every bit of who you are as a human being?
Don't let what you are stop you from being what you could be.
List all the things that you aren't willing to give up for the dreams that you have.
And that is what the person who will beat you is willing to give up.
Hey, guess what?
It's going to be the hardest thing you ever did.
To be able at any moment to sacrifice.
what you are for what you will become.
I can describe this in one word, all about sacrifice.
Anything in your life, you better believe one of the ingredients
going to be sacrificed.
To get anything of value, you have to sacrifice.
This is dreams we're talking about.
We're talking about dreams.
It will cost you everything.
You want to be great?
You need to sacrifice.
The more painful to sacrifice, the greater you'll be.
Except that all of your heroes are full of it.
Your heroes aren't gods.
They're just regular people who got particularly good at one thing
by sacrificing literally everything else.
Dreams require sacrifices.
What are you willing to forego?
There's a choice that we have to make as people, as individuals.
If you want to be great at something, there's a choice that you have to make.
We all can be masters of.
at our craft, but you have to make a choice.
Your inherent sacrifices that come along with that.
This year I've been thinking a lot about the sacrifices
that come with success.
You know, like nothing comes for free.
And I've reflected a lot over the years
of how much of my mental peace I've had to sacrifice
to accomplish what I've accomplished.
That's what success in general is all about sacrifice.
It's be willing to sacrifice, you know.
Unfortunately, sometimes you can have fun accomplishing your goal.
And when sometimes people don't have the determination, the will,
and the steadfastness, the tenacity,
they're giving them the slightest struggle.
Watch what it says.
To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could be.
I don't do well and mad. You're right.
You ain't never studied.
I'm not good in writing because you have never written before.
But I dare you to fail in writing for a whole year.
writing for a whole year to see if you can get to the end. I dare you to fail.
Also I think discipline at you know what people use that word so loosely.
What does it mean to you? You have to come to discipline. It's like you have to sacrifice
loved ones. You have to sacrifice loved ones for a long period of time if you want to be great.
Same thing. If you want to become the best, there is no feminine.
If you want to spend time with your family kids, okay, be with them.
You're going to become best family man.
I'm not against family people.
I just say if you want to become best in this business, you have to sacrifice.
Sacrifice your time, sacrifice your health, sacrifice everything good you have.
Other way, I don't know.
You know that the right way is the hardest way.
This is the way. This is the way of the warrior.
As great as you are, as talented as you are, as skillful as you are, as incredible as you are,
at a certain point, you're going to sacrifice who you are or who you can become.
If you want to accomplish all of the things that you feel are destined for you.
Nobody's going to relate to you.
No one's going to understand why you're doing it.
Everybody's going to question it.
And bro, this is the life that you're choosing.
I knew that I was not going to be stopped.
This was my life, right?
So you can't possibly become better than me
because you're not spending the time on it that I do.
Even if you want to spend the time money, you can't.
So I already won.
Do you know that the harder thing to do
and the right thing to do are usually the same thing?
Nothing that has meaning is easy.
Easy doesn't enter into grown-out life.
And a lot of us have this voice in their head.
We all know that voice in the way.
our head that tells us the truth every single day that we try to run away from that says we're scared
of this let's go this way it started gnawn at me so horribly bad that it wouldn't allow me to
live anymore without facing me i had to go back in the dungeons i had to go down in the dungeon the sewer
where my mind used to be at and talk to that guy because i i wanted to live my life in a way that when i
died I was proud of myself. I know what pride felt like. And if it took pushing myself to death,
I was willing to do that. You know, there comes a day, man. Everyone's going to have this day.
There comes a day where being average, being mediocre, it's just sickening to you. It's just sickening to you.
It's just sickening. It makes you want to throw up. Because you've seen people with far less
talent than you. As you're growing up with them, they're childhood buddies, wherever else.
They didn't have what you had.
Yet now they're gonna become something that you haven't.
They're coming fucking day.
You can't deal with it one more day.
And you get off your fucking ass.
And you create something that's always been there.
It's always been inside of you trying to come out.
But you never wanted to unwrap it
because there's too much pain and commitment.
You were scared you're gonna fail.
You were scared if you started.
You never finished yet.
You didn't want to tell anyone about it.
You knew it was there.
It's time to unwrap the potential you can be.
Superior, man, it's within you.
But first, you have to be willing to go through these sacrifices.
Spend time alone.
Do things that you used to do it.
Separate yourself.
All of these days, be willing to sacrifice,
and things will come clear to you.
I gave up what could be today for what could be tomorrow.
Too many people.
They just take what's at hand now.
And they never get what could be because they were unwilling to give up to Goa.
They were unwilling to sacrifice.
You will pay the price of discipline and hard work, or you will pay the price of regret.
Sometimes, yeah, you've got to cut a little piece of yourself off, yeah, no matter how much it hurts.
in order to grow.
Sometimes the guys with all the natural ability,
they don't have the work ethic to be the greatest
because it comes so easy.
You need that like Jordan almost like sociopathic approach to it.
Like do you think Jordan's happy?
Success is this and training and struggling
and suffer and sacrifice.
And then success is this.
success is this, but this tastes so much more than this.
To give something, you have to sacrifice something.
You need to understand that you must be willing to sacrifice who you are today for who you want to become tomorrow.
You have to sacrifice who you are today for who you want to become tomorrow.
There's a verse in the Bible that says,
When I became a man, I put away childish things.
You can't become the best version of yourself unless you're willing to neglect who
you are today. Everything is possible in your life and you believe. At the end of the day, the person that
wins is the one that stays in the game. You ask the person, why are you so unhappy? Why are you so
frustrated? Why are you so resentful? The moment you ask that, their brain is going to associate
that emotion to a past event. That's because they have nothing to look forward to in their future.
So if you're not being defined by a vision of the future, it just means to me that you're more in
love with your past than you are with the future. So how do you teach people to believe in
a future that they can't see or experience with their senses yet, but they've thought about
enough times in their mind that their brain has literally changed to look like the event has already
occurred. Yeah, we do this naturally as young children in our front driveway and we're bouncing
the ball or we're playing on a sport in the park and you know it's like okay well and kids do this
they say okay well who are you going to be. I'm going to be Wayne Gretzky or I'm going to be Michael Jordan or like whatever the
sport is or I'll be Lino Messi and you be Christiana Ronaldo and it's because we go to that place
in the head of what could I do if if I wasn't whatever you perceive yourself as right now because we all
have this sometimes destructive narrative on what we think that we can and cannot do.
When I'm saying purpose I think it's about defining your goals defining what the life you're
trying to build is and and having a real model for what you're doing. If you're doing this,
thing because it means something to you and you know exactly what success looks like for you.
You want to make sure that you're not comparing yourself to other people. You want to compare
yourself against the progress you've made.
I can't find love because my mom preferred my brother. I can't be a success because I never
went to university. I can't speak in public because I blush. And without understanding
when you describe why you can't, you keep it going. If you keep talking, if you keep talking, you keep
talking about the symptom, your mind keeps it alive because whatever you focus on, you get more of.
All addiction, whether it's drugs, alcohol, sugar, sex, shopping, come down to the same thing.
Say it's down to childhood trauma. Trauma as being either a bad thing has happened to you
or not enough good things have happened. And so we all start now living into the future. And living into the future. And living into the future.
future and I can't wait till I'm 15, 17.
Then you look at what adults do and they're like,
oh, in order, as I grow older, apparently I get more serious
and they get more pragmatic and I get more practical.
And so all those things that I was doing as a kid were childish.
I got to, let's leave those things on.
And then we move away from those things,
those traits, those qualities, those abilities
that actually helped us develop really rapidly,
find ourselves more quickly,
because we perceive it as being childish,
and yet they were the very things that helped you do
difficult things and challenging things like learn to how to ride a bike, learn to
associate with other people, a parent, an adult, someone else in society.
How do you teach a person to select a new possibility in their future and begin to
emotionally embrace that future before it's made manifest to such a degree that their
body is their unconscious mind is believing it's living in that future reality in the
present moment and they're signaling new genes and new ways ahead of the environment.
Now, to their body begins to change to look like the event has already occurred.
But for many people, they need more, they need you to go back and unpick their story.
Why do you do what you do? What happened to you?
In understanding why, for most of them, that's their aha moment.
They go, oh my God, I never knew. That's why I do that.
Oh! And then you add in and now, you know, you never have to do it again.
If we don't feel whole in ourselves, right? If we feel that there's a bit in there,
missing, we will try to fill that with other things, you know, whether it's sugar, whether
it's booze, whether it's shopping, we will use other things to give us that buzz.
And as we feel more complete, and this is how I feel I'm going on this journey, as I start
to understand myself and let go of these negative emotions, I just feel those compensatory
behaviours I'm no longer adopting, not because I'm actively trying not to do them, but because
it's no longer serving me.
You walk up that canyon or you're in the wilderness or you're standing next to the ocean
and you're just experiencing the present moment, you're not thinking about how amazing
you are and you're not thinking about how worthless you are either.
I think asking yourself questions, like I'm asking yourself tough questions.
Who am I? What kind of person do I want to be?
You know, is this the right thing to do it?
Pausing for a second instead of just react.
acting emotionally all the time is a way to kind of get out of that self-absorbed cycle.
It's that you have equipped yourself with mental tools, skills that are going to help you
walk that with a heck of a lot more courage, grit, perseverance, and a playful mind.
Because the playful mind is that golden key that finally unlocks the door into zone and flow state.
I've just seen it thousands of times.
Because people think the zone and the flow state,
that amazing place where you're just so engrossed in the moment,
is this mythical point that you maybe get to one or two times in a season or in a year
or in a week if you're a writer, creator, or executive or something like that.
No, it's a biological process.
And it's a mental process that when you start toppling the dominoes,
the likelihood of it coming to you just increases exponentially.
This intelligence that lives within you and I that's governing everything material in this world.
It's a self-organizing intelligence.
You have access to it, so you better get present within it, as well as you can get present with anything else.
And just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
That realm you can't experience with your senses.
You could only experience with your awareness.
If I make it, I might get rejected.
If I find love, they might leave.
If I make all that money, people won't like it.
People won't like me anymore.
So you've got to smash out of the ballpark,
the fear of rejection.
Always aware that someone's gonna hate your book.
I don't like it.
I'm like, oh, that's okay.
They can't reject me, they might reject my book.
Most people happen to love them,
but to get anywhere in life,
you have to get over the fear of rejection.
Even these small steps that people take,
they're starting to show themselves
a bit of self-respect.
They're starting to help themselves feel complete.
Oh, I can do this. I didn't think that I was good enough to strength train. I didn't think I was the kind of person who could work out
Well, hold in a minute now you've been doing it every day for six months
I've got more energy. I can see the tone of my body improved. This feels great. What else can I achieve?
Small things when done consistently lead to bigger and bigger things
People have to take their attention off the bodies and go from a somebody to a nobody take their attention off the people
people in their life that they identify with,
and go from a someone to a no one.
Take their attention off the things in their life,
their cell phone, their computer, the car,
and go from something to nothing.
Take their attention off where they sleep,
where they work, where they're sitting,
and go from somewhere to nowhere.
Take their attention off the predictable future
and the familiar past and time
and go from some time to no time.
Trying to actually be grateful for what you have,
things that you would have killed,
like a year earlier to have,
as soon as you have them all of a sudden,
think about how they could be better. And gratitude is incredibly important, not just because it's
what you owe other people, but it makes you appreciate what you have versus focusing on what you could
have or don't have, which are egotistical things and also recipes for misery.
You know, because the brain, when you're experiencing something that's new, will go to a place
of, it'll look for pattern. If I can't find it, it'll go to a default mode of however you, of however
you normally respond in a situation. So if you're a shy, nervous person, you're going to show up
now shy and nervous. Someone that you've always wanted to connect with, but you don't go up and introduce
yourself, or you're in the boardroom and there's an opportunity for you to say something with a great
idea, but then you don't because you're concerned about what everyone else is going to think of you.
So you had the capability, but it didn't get out.
Abundance to me has changed abundance means I have more than I need. Like way more than I need.
And I know how to create it. So if I have way more than I need and I know how to create it.
So now you're no longer holding on.
So now you're no longer holding on in scarcity.
Some people lack the courage to live the life they want and live only as they have begun, right?
So that's the, that people lack the courage to change, to make, to, to do abrupt changes, especially as they get later on in life.
And so I think just because you're good at something or just because you've done it for a long time is not necessarily a reason to continue that thing.
But you see the mind listens to everything you say.
The mind is always switched on and it records everything and it never forget.
So when you feel enough, your life is so different when you feel not enough.
Wealthy people that have created a lot of wealth in this work, they want to give back.
They want to make a difference and I think that that's how we're innately wired.
I think we're all innately wired to care for one to make a difference.
in the living organism, our living organism, our community.
We heal one another, that's what we do.
We inform one another, we encourage one another,
we support one another.
We shine for one another, not to outshine another person,
to shine to show them that they can shine.
And that to me is super healthy.
I am no longer going to be watching any football,
and I'm no longer going to have Netflix at all.
And that is what I'm giving up for seven, eight, nine, and ten.
That's what I'm sacrificing.
And I think a lot of people create these to-do lists when in my experience it's been so much more useful to write down all the things that I'm willing to sacrifice.
Because if you sacrifice everything, there's nothing left than to do the one thing that matters.
Most of everyone who's listening to this who isn't achieving what they want is with their time.
They think that they're spending all their time working, but you don't even know how to work.
I'm being really real with you.
Like you think you know how to work.
You don't know how to work.
And I'll measure this by like, what is your output?
It's probably not as high as you think.
And so rather than trying to learn all these productivity hacks, the ultimate productivity hack is no.
No.
Where would you be if you observed and judged your own behavior the exact same way that you observe and judge other people's behavior?
They watch people do things and they're like, why do they act that way?
Why do they make those decisions?
Do you ever stop to ask yourself those questions?
What if you gave yourself the criticism that you so easily dish out to other people?
out to other people. You got no problem being the armchair quarterback of everyone else's day-to-day
lives, but you don't stop to look yourself in the mirror. If you question your own behavior,
your own thoughts, your own decisions, just like you do everyone else, I guarantee you're going
to find a lot of problems that you're going to want to solve, problems that if you solve them,
you could change your whole life. And you're never going to figure any of that out if your
eyes are on everyone else. You're going to spend your whole life focusing on problems that you can't
solve. At a point, you just have to start doing it for a love of the game. I've said this many times
before, living a life of fulfillment and purpose is war, and to be more specific, spiritual war. But also,
it doesn't mean it has to be this dreadful thing. Like, yeah, it can certainly be treacherous.
There's no doubting that. But there's also kind of a beauty there, something like a dance or
a hauntingly beautiful poem. So, like, yeah, it can be hard sometimes.
but now such a statement seems so shallow.
If you're listening to me right now
and you can hear these words
and you're somebody that struggles with self-doubt
or imposter syndrome, I'm going to tell you something.
The research about confidence is very clear
that confidence isn't a feeling.
You don't feel confident.
Confidence, the definition I want you
to really embrace and live by
is the willingness to try.
Because every time you try,
especially in the face of doubt,
you are displaying that you,
you believe in your ability to survive whatever happens next.
And so it's in the trying that you show yourself,
that you are capable of trying something and failing.
And what makes you feel full of doubt an imposter syndrome
is that you sit in your head and tell yourself you can't.
And every day that you wake up and you don't do the thing,
whether it's going to the gym or asking that person out,
stop doing that, stop.
And the second that you take action in a different direction, you start to see yourself differently.
Insert emotion. I'm nervous. I'm excited. I'm whatever. It's like, you know, if you weren't, I'd be worried about you.
Because this is a serious commitment. And so the fact that you're nervous or the fact that you're afraid makes you just like everyone else who succeeds.
But you know what? You have in common with a lot of people that absolutely change their lives? They say the same thing.
Do you associate this negative feeling with being the successful person they want to be?
That's not an easy task because we're all trying to be something, but we already are that something we're trying to be.
That doesn't mean you can't be better, but it's like accepting and appreciating what you really are.
And instead of projecting, you know, something else takes a lot of pain out of your body to take, gets a lot of fears to just disappear.
And I don't have an easy path for that.
I think it's the hero's journey.
You know, what is it?
Your life is ordinary and everything seems fine, and then something hits you, and it's the call to adventure.
feel like a call, it feels like someone in your family's got cancer, or it feels like, you know,
COVID and somebody shut down your business, you know, or, you know, some issue that's happening
in a relationship with your kids.
But if you take the call and you go on the journey, you're going to meet some new friends,
you're going to find some new mentors, you're going to, you're going to battle with internal
things within you and external things.
But if you keep going, you're going to eventually slay your dragons and you come out and
the hero of your own life and you have something to share.
It's not something you read somewhere.
It's something you've lived.
It makes life really, really beautiful.
Becoming closer to your vision, becoming the person that you strive to be,
is not demand perfection, but rather the persistent and pure desire for better and for good.
It's easy for us to get hyper-fixated on not making a mistake or not making a wrong turn.
And we start to over-analyze and paralyze ourselves with fear or doubt.
It makes us hesitant in the way we pursue action and hesitancy is not good.
You know, these mistakes, these failures, these wrong turns ultimately do not matter.
The only thing that is demanded of you in order to make the changes that you want to make
is the pure and persistent desire to be better and to be good.
And this paired with time, anything can be.
You see this?
An hourglass.
It's a perfect reminder of how to be.
of how time flows.
The sand at the top, that's the future.
Completely out of your control.
Sand at the bottom, that's the past, already gone.
But this, the flow in the middle, that's the present,
and that is where life happens.
You can't speed it up, you can't slow it down.
All you can do is focus on this moment.
One of the things that I'd like to teach people,
when there's a problem, and we all have problems.
Not all of us can deal with the world and war,
but we can deal with our own problems.
When a problem comes up, one of the best things to say is all is well, everything is working out for my highest good.
And out of this situation, this so-called problem, only good will come and I am safe.
And you know, this is something that's very powerful.
All is what, everything is working out for my highest good.
Out of this experience, only good will come and I am safe.
And what that does, it quiets your mind down.
I'm gonna look you in the eyes and I'm gonna tell you the future.
The world breaks everyone.
You already know it's going to be wretched.
The very good, the very gentle, very brave.
If you break, the fight is just beginning.
There's no shame in being a broken man.
This will be the story that I will one day tell.
You just pick up the pieces.
Rebuild it?
Just the way it was, brick for break.
That means the harder it is.
The pain that's going to come, it's going to come in waves.
The more epic the story.
You must build belief.
You must build confidence.
By consequence, the more epic the hero.
You're not ready for what you want until you believe you can get it.
You don't have enough faith in yourself.
You have to believe you can.
You need to have a shift in your perception of yourself.
perception of yourself, really convince yourself that you can do it.
And if that's the game that we're playing, if I can construct my belief system, if I can choose
at any moment, step into your fears and continue to push yourself to go on, something happens
for you.
To believe something that's more empowering than I was believing the moment before.
It will enable you to transcend yourself.
Find you're impossible.
That's what you have to go after.
Winners define themselves by what they made happen, and losers define themselves by what happened to them.
He feels me.
He's not telling him.
I'm the person I want to be yet.
How do you believe?
How do you change a belief?
Interesting subject.
Because I'm going to tell you something.
Your results are nothing but the manifestation of your belief system.
When you're working on something you want to achieve, you have got to stand up to that.
voice you've got to sell yourself every day on your abilities on what you're
doing on the goal that you want to reach you've got to sell yourself every day
every day every day according to your level of belief it will manifest itself
and what you're doing but the belief system you have to have if you expect to lose
you will I know a lot of guys are very talented a lot of women are very
talented but they don't think they can do it and they don't
This is why thinking is so vital.
This is why a goal is so important.
Because we will become that.
This is why people who set goals achieve them.
The trouble with men is not achieving their goals.
They do that.
It's an establishing them.
Well, I think there's an infinite source of supply.
We've been endowed with mental faculties
that the most erudite scientists won't even guess at.
I think most people wander around in a deep sleep.
And they don't think.
They don't invest in themselves.
And the second they wake up and start doing that, everything starts to change.
A million dollars is not a lot of money.
We're creative beings.
We're working with an infinite power.
And once we start to understand the power of our mind and then start to understand how to utilize it properly,
then we'll understand that we can do virtually anything.
Whenever you look at somebody that's been successful, do not allow yourself to make them extraordinary at your expense.
You're capable of whatever it is that they're capable of.
but it comes down to the mental constructs that you're going to have to build and leverage in your own mind
in order to do something great. And that became my driver. We set out to actively ask one question.
What would we do and love every day, even if we were failing?
Nietzsche said, I know of no better life purpose than to perish in attempting the great and impossible.
The fact that something seems impossible shouldn't be a reason to not pursue it.
That's exactly what makes it worth pursuing.
Where would the courage and greatness be if success was certain and there was no risk?
The only true failure is shrinking away from life's challenges.
Everybody wants to win, but in order to know how to win, you got to know how to lose.
Because you're going to lose more than you're going to win.
But every time you lose, what are you gained from it?
So every time I've lost, people say you've got to jump right back up.
You know, get back right on your feet again.
on your feet again.
And I disagree with that.
After you lose, or when you get knocked down,
stay down there for a minute.
But I don't look at failure as failure.
I look at failure as your first, second, third, fourth, fifth attempt.
I look at them as attempts.
I don't look at anything as failure.
Because when you're going to try to do some,
not trying is failure.
Courage to act.
Hungary, when you've been defeated,
It takes courage to start over again.
And as you convince you, as you sell yourself every day, every day, every day,
you will begin to see a difference in the things that you're doing.
Selling yourself on your ability to perform a job, to achieve a certain objective,
telling yourself every day, here I go again, and I got what it takes.
This is my day and nothing out here is going to stop me.
like to stop me.
Ninety-five percent of the game, like I said before, is right up here, guys.
If you guys believe you can do this, and today I'm no longer being a loser.
Today I'm gonna change my fucking path.
I'm gonna get on the path of success.
I don't care how long that road is.
I'm gonna see it through no matter what, because you know what?
I've been living enough years in this sh-hole and I don't want to be here anymore.
I'm not happy with this.
And I'm tired of making excuses.
I'm tired going through the same circuit of what I'm gonna be in this.
emotion shit. Go and be different. And last time I look, every single day I'm getting older,
meaning run that time. It has nothing to do with who you are today. Don't worry about that.
I'm not very interested in the person that I am today. I am a far cry from the person that I
can imagine and the person I promised myself that I will continue to work to become. So it's
not about who you are. It's about who you want to become and the price you're willing to pay
to get there. You're going to be attacked, betrayed, exposed, and humiliated, and you'll survive that.
A lot of people can climb that mountain. It's the way down that breaks them, because that's the
moment when you are truly alone. And what will you do then? Can you summon the will to fight on
through all the pain and rise again? That will be the defining question of your life. And I think
You already know the answer.
You're going to be remembered for...
You cannot grow.
You cannot mature.
You cannot get better.
You can't become anything of value to yourself or to anyone else.
If you shut the door to regrets.
Now, you don't let regrets drag you down.
You don't let them destroy you.
All right, I've talked about this before.
You don't let the man that you used to be destroy.
man that you are today or the man that you're trying to be today. All right. But balanced regret is what
helps you become a better man. Unbalanced guilt is what destroys you. Unbalanced guilt of who you were
and what you were in the past or today destroys you. Balanced, open-eyed, thoughtful regret of poor
decisions you made in the past is what helps you build and become better and become stronger.
That is that check valve that helps you not make that decision again.
Make a promise and keep it every single day of your life and you will no longer be afraid of
yourself. The fear only comes from uncertainty and if you don't know what to expect from you
that's what gets you in trouble. If you're a thoughtful person with strong intention,
It probably feels like everyone's against you, so you better get on your own team so you don't feel alone.
When you're on your own team, keeping the promises, you will sacrifice a lot.
But I will tell you from experience that the sacrifice is worth every single moment.
Once you realize you don't have to bear the emptiness that consumes all too much of this world.
What kind of permission do you need?
To do the thing that you and I both know you really want to do, the thing that not everyone
is going to approve of, but you know you're meant to do, what kind of permission do you need
to get up and get after it?
Yes, there's some risk, mostly just a bruised ego, but you know what's a hell of a lot worse
than that?
Living with the regret of inaction.
Knowing the thing that you need to do, the scary steps that you have to take to grow into
the person that you know you want to be and doing nothing.
So if you need it, this is your permission slip.
Go do what you need to do.
It says life is not linear.
It's cyclical.
Accepting this allows us to flow with the process instead of resisting it, like we just
said.
Understand that life is cyclical.
You are going to move in cycles as an individual, right?
So don't get so emotionally attached to the seasons where everything feels good that you think
that that's how your whole life should be forever.
Because the moment it isn't that, you're going to feel like everything's hit in the
the fan. Something's wrong. You're doing something wrong. You're going to internalize that and identify
with that. Just because you don't feel good doesn't mean you're doing something wrong. Just because
things are difficult does not mean you're going the wrong direction. No, it's a part of moving
in the right direction and you have to be willing to embrace those times. Understanding they're serving
a greater purpose. You have to remind yourself of this. Understand it is serving a greater
purpose. This is part of the journey and it will not last forever.
And so many people, they need to have a 5K, a 10K,
I need to have a course in front of me.
I need to have something in front of me
from me getting my fucking ass up and do some shit.
And that used to be me.
And nowadays, you know, past 20-some years,
I don't need purpose.
And people miss out on this, man.
The purpose, we're all looking for this golden purpose.
Is it this, is it that, is it making money?
Is it my family?
Motherfuck, the purpose is you.
This worrying thing, it's the one part of my life that if I could go back, I would fix.
Even the things I've worried about in my life, when they actually happened, they weren't as bad in my body and in my mind as they were when I was worrying about them.
And when you worry about it, you experience it hundreds of times.
Your mind doesn't know the difference between this thing you think is going to happen and something that really happens.
And so the turmoil you're putting your body through and the debilitating effect that's having on your current,
circumstances I actually believe that this is one of the most debilitating things
you can do for your physical health not just your mental health and when it
happens interrupt the pattern go change your physiology do something to change your
state it's taking everything from your life singing your joy your passion
your peace your energy your focus your determination your resourcefulness so
please stop and I'm talking to me as much as I'm talking to you give yourself a
gift of controlling that imagination there's that beautiful mind of yours
Sometimes it's not about the things you need to do that make us successful.
It's the things we need to stop doing that hold us back.
But I'll tell you right now, those weak habits, they got to break.
Your mindset has to be reshaped.
You have to believe the odds are beatable, even when people say it's impossible.
That's what I call faith.
And I'm going to tell you right now, that's what's going to take.
24-7, 365, you've got to live it, breathe it, be it every single day.
You've got a concrete challenge that gets in the way
and remember it's more about what you do and less about what you say so if your life couldn't say
one word what would your life speak would it still say you about that life would it still say you
about conquering your struggle create new peaks would it still say you about getting the most out of your
life every moment matters especially when you realize over 150 000 people die every night
that's 55 million people a year ain't none of this promise ain't none of this guaranteed
I'll leave you what is this? When you fight your last fight, when you breathe your last breath,
if this was your last year, what's the legacy that you're going to leave? Get up and go live
your dreams. Make the world respect your greatness. Make this year your year. It all starts
with you. What makes one person a champion and the other one not?
Champions are broken.
They lack something everyone else has, which is an off button.
They just don't stop.
I'm unbeable. I can't be beat.
It's impossible.
You condemn me. You can damage me.
You're never ever going to beat me.
The odds were stacked against me.
I won anyway.
Winning has a price.
So I know when my opponent is sleep, I'm out there four or five in the morning, working.
It's strife, the will.
There's certain people that grow up with a tremendous hunger.
Champions find a way to make it happen.
But I got the will to win.
Both fear and faith demand you to believe in something that you never solved.
You have to be the champion before you become the champion.
You gotta be him before you become him.
But the truth is,
I'm really in pursuit of greatness.
The mentality of greatness, there are no breaks.
You wanna become best, you wanna become champion.
Who cares? You're tired or not? Nobody cared about you.
Champion mentality.
Winning isn't once what I thought it was.
I found it to be much more complex than our traditional definitions of success.
And my three questions are, what do you want?
How badly do you want it and how much you will need to suffer?
I want to be the best bill.
Fine.
How badly do you want it?
The best pay a big price.
Nothing's ever going to be given to you.
Everything's going to be earned.
If you don't go out there and put it in the work, you don't go out and put in the effort.
One, you're not going to get the results.
But two, more importantly, you don't deserve it.
You need earn it.
Five or six years, I want every day to do it.
Five or six years, I want every effort to get in the effort.
single day without missing a single day. I was in the water on Christmas, birthday, holidays,
everything. It didn't matter. And the thought process behind that was when you take a day off,
it takes you two days to get back to where you were. So when somebody is taking off on a Sunday,
they're not back on Tuesday from where they were on Saturday. So I have that many days ahead of
them. I was putting all of that. We would call it putting it in the bank. We were restoring all of this
good work that we were doing, this hard work that we were doing, continuous hard work. And
And it was going to pay off at some point.
You guys have no idea.
When you're hurt, how do you feel?
You lay down, right?
You take a second.
You're going, you know, you take your vitamins.
You do the thing.
When I'm hurt, I love it.
I love that feeling because it's real.
That's the most realest feeling that you could ever have.
It's being in pain because everything else, happiness could be fake.
Clying could be fake.
But pain?
That's real.
Pain in your muscles and aching and just then go on and go on and just last two or three or four repetitions
That's what makes actually the muscle then grow and that divides them one from a champion and one from not being a champion
If you can go through this pain barrier you make it to be a champion
If you can go through forget it and that's what most people like is on this having the guts
The guts to go in and just say I go through and I don't care what happens
To be great, Monday on top of Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday on top of Wednesday, Wednesday,
on top of Thursday, Thursday, Friday, Friday, on top of Saturday, Saturday.
It's thought over.
That's thought over.
That's thought over.
That's thought over.
And true greatness, it's always evolving.
I trained Kobe Bryant for nine years.
For nine years, every single time I saw him, I told him we don't have time.
Every single day, I wish I was wrong.
I wish I was wrong.
So whatever you're it is, go get it now.
Go get it now.
When I've seen that Bentley at the Boxing Gym,
and I've seen that Diamond Rolex, I said I want that.
And I knew what it took.
I know people don't usually talk like that,
but I want to be one of the greats.
I'm inspired by the greats.
I'm inspired by the greats here tonight.
I'm as inspired by Daniel DeLewis,
Marlon Brando and Viola Davis,
as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps,
and I want to be up there.
Without you or with you, there is always going to be champions.
With your name, this is your choice.
You want to put your name there? Okay, work hard.
No? Bye-bye.
If you give up on your dreams, if you give up on your dreams,
what do you have left?
When you grow up comfortably and in comfort and in peace and happiness and all those things,
that will produce a very balanced person.
balanced person and a good person, but it will not create the will and the determination and the hunger that you need to be the best in the world.
I fail to be at the pinnacle of any game, in any, whatever you do, you've got to be a little bit gone to it.
You're not all there. You've got to be almost insane to your craft.
Not a lot of people can understand that.
On one given night, if you worked hard enough,
hard enough, if you dream big enough, you sacrificed enough, you just work yourself to the
bone, no matter what you had, what you didn't have, no matter what people had told you,
didn't tell you, and you were ready to behave like a champion on one given night and make the
world fair.
What is a world champion boxer, a basketball player, or a track star, a horse, even animals.
What made him the world champion was that he seemed to, at the right time when the pressures down at the last few yards, he can get that lead.
He's got enough left to make it.
My last fight, the fight was evened up into the last round, but I had something that he didn't have.
Champion is just one who can come out at the last minute and close the show.
There's no stopping a man that knows he's right and just keeps on coming.
There's a distinct difference between the champion and someone who's just good.
Someone that's good sits there and thinks to himself,
I've given everything I have.
Hopefully, I can get through the 12th round.
A champion, he sits in that corner while all of his people are talking.
talking to him. He got here, all he's thinking about is I have to find what I haven't given.
It's that mentality that truly separates the champions from the motherfucker short gets good.
What I found is that winning doesn't happen on show day. It happens in the early mornings,
painful workouts, long cardio sessions, and hungry nights. It happens in those moments of fear. We all have
when faced with a difficult goal and then more so in what you make of that fear it happens in
every second of every day before you win people earth i need to say something listen to me
i hope every one of you behind your screens on this arena can feel this level of happiness
just one time in your life just one time in your life but guess what you never feel this level of
happiness if you don't go for something.
Whatever you're pursuing in the world, whether it's tennis sports or anything else,
I feel that I have I had the power to create my own destiny.
I try to visualize every single thing in my life, not only believe it, but really feel it with every...
every cell in my body.
Be in the present moment, forget about what happened in the past.
Future is something that is just going to happen, but if you want a better future, you create it.
They're gonna tell you you can do it.
I tell you you can't do it.
They're gonna knock you, that would doubt you.
But guess what?
The only person you need to achieve anything in this life
is yourself.
If you can see it here, and you have the courage enough
to speak it, it will happen.
And have your hand lifted and be called champion of the world.
There's people that would die for that.
People that are running after their dream,
know they're gonna have hard times.
keep running because they're saying within themselves.
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, and maybe not the next month.
Only one thing is true.
I will be champion one day, I promise.
