hitting rock bottle.
When you get to a point where you really can look at yourself objectively and think, like,
what have I been doing?
Like, that's a state, that's a mental state where you are very prone and you have a very high potential to be able to say,
okay, I can't do this anymore.
I got to change something.
I feel like most of the best doers that I ever see are people who have a firm objective grasp on reality.
It's somebody who can really look at themselves and think, okay, what do I need to change?
You want to change?
You've got to live into a better vision.
I want to become a person who, what?
I want to become a person who, what?
I think that's where change begins.
The question, though, if we all hung out, is, do you know what yours is yet?
Your impulses are driving you versus.
intention. I don't want you be driven by impulse. A lot of people are slave to impulse their
entire life. They're just in reaction, reaction, reaction, and they never had that clear intention
to grow, to become something that they chose. So they ended up something as an accident.
Would not have been given the dream if the ability wasn't already inside of you.
The question becomes, are you courageous to say, I'm going to do it and I'm going to do it.
publicly. And if it doesn't work out the way I want it, I'm going to be okay. Because everything
that led me to this point has prepared me for the thing I want. I am stronger. I am wiser.
I am better. And if I choose not to quit, I can't lose. All of these fears, all of these old
stories you tell yourself, all the excuses that you're making are all going to
back to a lack of real hunger, real desire, real desperation, because real desperation is beautiful.
The power of being desperate is something that most people avoid. They think desperation is a
weakness. And I'm here to tell you, desperation is one of the most powerful emotions you could
possibly possess because when you're desperate, you find reserves and reservoirs of ideas,
talents, and a strength that you don't know you have when you find yourself in a desperate
situation. So the number one thing we need more than anything to win is hunger, which comes from a
state of desperation. Yet we're constantly trying to comfort ourselves in the real world to avoid
the state of being desperate. Life is hard. Everything worth doing is hard. There is no easy path.
And so many of you spend so much time, so much energy, and get yourself so frustrated
searching for the easy way to get what you want,
when in reality, if you just accept it,
everything worthwhile is hard
and just stopped beating your head against the wall,
looking for the easier, quicker, faster, freer way,
it makes the path that much easier
because now you know the game that you're playing.
You are today who you decided to be.
Every negative thing about you
is because you have limited yourself.
You were set apart for greatness.
You were set apart.
to be limitless. You were set apart to change this world.
Listen, pain is temporary. Losses is temporary. Setbacks are temporary.
But giving up is forever. So never be good. We're good enough when you know inside you live
someone better. You didn't come this far just to sell. You didn't come this far just to accept
whatever. You came this far to take it to your next level. You came this far to become something
greater. With each heartbeat, you have one less heartbeat to love. You have one less heartbeat for
somebody to love you. You have one less heartbeat to succeed. You have one less heartbeat to share
your success with somebody else. You have one less heartbeat to care about somebody. You have one less
heartbeat for somebody to care about you. Be careful who you share those heartbeats with.
environments where people don't know the true value of you.
If you stay in environments where people don't recognize the value of you,
you will shrink your gift to the size of what they can stand.
A lot of us are facing some of the hardest things that we've ever gone through in our life.
And I want to remind you as you walk through these times that there is a gift in this for you.
What feels like is completely tearing you down is actually building.
you up. I know it's hard. I know it's dark. I know it's sad. I know that you're so ready
to move on to this next chapter. But you've got to keep moving forward. Because in retrospect,
down the road, you're going to look back and realize that this season made you. It didn't break you.
And at the same time, there will be a realization of the gift that was given to you.
Everything you want will be found on your way to the top.
Not once you get there.
The character, the discipline, the consistency, the self-respect.
None of those things come with achieving the goal.
They all come from the journey.
Goals give you direction, but your commitment to the process will give you happiness and fulfillment.
So commit to the vision.
And wherever it takes you, just make sure you enjoy the ride.
Why not you?
Why not you with good self-esteem?
Why not you starting to change and setting gold?
You are not your past.
You're you.
You're you right now.
Like the past you did, you might have done some things you wish you hadn't done.
Don't dwell on that.
You learn from it, that's fine, but don't dwell on it.
Just keep moving.
Keep moving.
You know, use it as fuel.
Say never again.
You know, I get what I did wrong,
but don't think that you're that person that made those mistakes.
You're the person who's learned.
If you're going to try, go all the way.
Otherwise, don't even start.
If you're going to try, go all the way.
Imagine where you would be in the year
if you actually focused on the things that make you better.
If you actually start doing things
and you actually take action.
Imagine how far you would be, bro.
If you really locked in, if you really stay focused,
your mindset is not on the things that you want in life.
The fastest way to lose,
losing yourself is to try and make everyone else happy.
The best thing you can do is be a true north, be you, shine your light, know what your core values are, know what your belief system is, know what your morals and your character should be, and live by that.
The road to paradise starts in hell.
You have to take that bus ride, that walk, that crawl, that flight, whatever it may be, back to hell consistently.
Because here's the thing.
If hell comes visits you and it visits a lot of people, it's not going to leave.
And your hell is what you're willing not to acknowledge.
You're not willing to acknowledge who you are, what your darkness is, what fuels you.
If you're not engaged in your life, it's because you haven't picked a dragon of sufficient
merit, is that if you haven't found meaning in your life, it's because you haven't taken
on a big enough burden.
That's a strange thing.
It's a strange thing that that's true, but I think it is, it's the closest to true.
that we have.
The purpose of life is not just to get your goals.
Your goals or you're getting what you want doesn't make you happy.
What makes you happy is who you become in pursuit of those goals.
So the growth, the progress, even if you don't achieve it yet, but you start losing weight or
you start building muscle, or you start making your relationship better, or you start to build a business.
The building, the progress is what makes you feel alive because we're all made to either grow or die.
If your relationship's not growing, it's dying.
If your business is not growing, it's dying.
There's no in-between bullshit.
That doesn't work.
And yet, death is the destination we all share.
No one has ever escaped it.
And that is as it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life.
It's life's change agent.
It clears out the old to make way for the new.
Right now, the new is you.
But someday, not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away.
Your time is limited.
so don't waste it living someone else's life.
Don't be trapped by dogma,
which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
It's not like you're guaranteed to kill it.
Nobody is ever guaranteed to kill it.
But if you don't try, then you definitely won't.
If you get after it, you got a chance.
You got to fight the chance for sure.
But if you never do, then what's the point of even thinking to expect any sort of results?
It all starts with who you are, because who you are is your character.
And your character is an accumulation of your thoughts, your habits, and your priorities on a day-to-day basis.
Because those three things determine the choices you make, and the choices you make make make you who you.
you are. Good guy, bad guy, hard working, lazy, responsible, irresponsible. And it takes a certain
amount of discipline to do what you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it, the way it's
supposed to get done. How long can you stay in that pool? How far can you run? How much can you push yourself
past the part where you want to quit? How far can you keep going? There's a purity in that.
They dissolve social order, all that shit. What people think about you goes out the window. And who will,
Who are you right now? Who are you right now?
But I'm going to keep going. I'm going to keep going.
And if you do that and you don't allow the shame and the regret and the heaviness of what you just went through,
if you don't allow that to stop you and you just keep going, all that crap that you're covered in,
it starts to fall off of you, right? It starts to fall away. And eventually, you're good again.
You cannot allow that to stop you.
And that is what stops most people.
It's regret.
It's shame.
It's the pile of crap they had to walk through 10 years ago that they created.
And because of that, they never do anything with the rest of their freaking life, man.
The only way to mitigate not being successful is to not quit.
If you don't quit, you might make it.
But there's a hell of a lot more to you than you think.
Like way more.
Enough to cope with the trouble of the world inside you.
There is enough to cope with the trouble of the world.
If you had enough courage, you could let that out.
Enough courage and faith, you could let that out.
And everything would be better because of it.
Really, really.
Fendekha famously said,
while we wait for life, life passes.
When you understand that your days are counted, that your days are limited,
you begin to work with urgency towards your goals.
you begin to work with urgency towards the things that you want in life.
People say, well, I'll start tomorrow,
or I'll get started when the new year hits.
It doesn't work that way life passes you by with no urgency, but day by day.
And so many people live and wake up like accidents
that they forget this beautiful principle,
that life is in your control.
And if you want to experience a certain type of outcome
and a certain type of future,
you must input the necessary labor today.
On the one side, you can make your ideas about what you would like
to have where you would like to be.
This is the one side.
So your focus is on what you would like to have,
where you would like to be.
Another question is,
what are you willing to sacrifice
through how many different pains, conflicts, challenges
are you willing to go through?
Because there is something that goes hand in hand,
like walking up the mountain.
Walking to the peak is not gonna get more easy.
The higher the else,
the more difficult it becomes.
The challenges are not going to get easier the higher you reach.
There's two sides of pain that I don't think a lot of people really understand.
Right? There's one side of pain that's the suffering and the discomfort side of pain.
Because that hurts. You remember what that felt like.
But then there's another side of pain that's called effort.
It's called glory.
It's called if you can find a way, you can find a way.
If you can find a way to push through pain, there's something greater on the other side of it.
Imagine you're on your deathbed and standing around your deathbed are the ghosts representing your unfulfilled potential.
The ghost of the ideas you never acted on.
The ghost of the talents you didn't use.
And they're standing around your bed angry, disappointed, and upset.
They say we came to you because you could have brought us to life, they say.
And now we have to go to the grave together.
So I ask you today, how many ghosts are going to be around your bed when your time comes?
Being a human being is not easy as opposed to an animal because we're born and nobody gives us a direction.
It's a very, very difficult process.
You wake up in the morning and you don't really know what you can do.
You can choose 12 different paths.
It can be very confusing and very overwhelming.
When you find that sense of purpose, when you find what I call your life's task, everything has a direction.
Everything has a purpose. Your energy is concentrated. It's not like you're just going down a single narrow pathway. It's not like life becomes boring and it's just about discipline and solving problems. It's actually the most exciting thing that can ever happen to you because you never have that lost feeling. You wake up in the morning and you go, yeah, this is what I need to accomplish. Yesterday ended last night. If you were successful, I got something for you. It ended last night. You can't live on yesterday's success. If you failed, I've got good news for you. It ended last night.
night. Today matters. We over exaggerate yesterday, we overestimate tomorrow, and we
underestimate today. And it's today what matters. Fastest way to losing yourself is to try
and make everyone else happy. The best thing you can do is be a true north, be you, shine your
light. Know what your core values are, know what your belief system is, know what your morals
and your character should be, and live by that. I learned recently how great
I am for storms. Quiet skies don't show you how strong you are. Calm doesn't force you to level up.
No, it's when the ground shakes we learn to endure. We're forced to find within ourselves a
resilience that was once tucked away. They say confidence is earned. And well, it's earned
because when we walk through hell, we give our greatness permission to walk alongside us.
The perfect moment has already come and gone, time after time.
But you're sitting here, still waiting for it.
You think it's going to knock on your door and say, hey, I'm the perfect moment, I'm here.
But the truth is, there's two types of people.
The person that says, oh, I don't really care.
I'm going to die one day.
What does it matter?
Or this is the person that says, I've got one life and I'm going to live it.
My definition of a creative life is any life where your decisions are routinely based more strongly on your curiosity than your fear.
every single day in all your realms of your life.
And then your life itself will become a work of art
and it doesn't matter what you make or produce or leave or influence.
It's just that you will create a life that will be really interesting for you.
You don't have to feel good about it. You just have to keep going.
The feeling will pass, but you will remain. You are greater than your feelings.
Going to bed late and waking up early to work for a few days won't kill you.
You're not going to burn out, you're doing what it takes.
Hard times last long, but an epic story feels like a lifetime.
It's always darkest before the sun breaks in the morning.
It's always darkest.
But you know the sun is going to come up.
Think of the sun.
Think how dark it is before the sun comes up
when you're and down, and you see no hope.
see no hope or no way out of your condition and you're seething in these emotions, try to remind
yourself, do you think the sun is going to come up or is it not going to come up? The sun always
comes up and that's your hope. You think that big changes are what are going to make you happy.
That's not the answer. What makes you happier are the little things. Happiness is the
smallest things because your whole life is made up of all the little things that you do every
single day that's how you build a happier life so pay attention to when you wake up the first thing
you look at every morning being kinder to yourself the little things are everything because they
add up to one big happy life so that's why i like to be isolated and that's why this that's why
This has helped me coming out here and being locked in an apartment on my own, building back up my leg, going from rehab to home to rehab to home, because there was no outsiders.
It was isolation, it was visualization, it was motivation and it was dedication. There was no nothing else going on in my life, you know what I mean?
To get to the pinnacle, it needs to be like that, it needs to be no outsiders, it needs to be, you need to have your team and your focus and that's it.
I don't need friends that aren't involved in this game or that aren't all that aren't all.
on the same path, you know what I mean?
Because it just doesn't make sense.
If you find yourself alone, you're not being isolated.
You're not being forgotten.
You're not being ignored.
You're in the lab.
But this isn't a thing where scientists walk in.
Now this is where greatness is developed alone.
Because in the battlefield of the mind
is where you must be able to find peace.
To sort out the traumas that you've been through as a child
and be able to get over those things,
like hurdles. And after each one of those hurdles you cross, realize you're getting closer to your
goal. I'm capable of being on my own way beyond how anybody else is. So far beyond it. I can work
on my own in solitude for an endless amount of time. I can outwork anybody in solitude. Why?
Because I spent almost all of my time between the ages of six and 16 in my bedroom listening to
audio tapes, right? Listening to audio books and like throwing like a tennis ball against the wall.
But all of that discomfort and all of the challenges that I went through there are the thing.
One of the things that I'm so proud of myself for now. Okay, so what if I look back and I said,
well, the bullying that I went through and the challenges of feeling alone and being on the
outside of social groups meant that I developed such attenuation and attention and focus and an ability
to distill down what's happening socially, which is what.
why I became one of the best club promoters in the UK for a decade and a half.
Right.
Because for all of my school life, I'd been obsessing over how Alex wears his tie.
Maybe that's why he has friends and I don't have friends.
Okay, so looking back, would I have rather had the friends and had the brother or sister
and not develop this skill?
I can't split test life, so I don't know.
Right.
But my life's ended up pretty good, and I'm happy with it.
I have lost a lot of the friends or almost all of them.
the friends that I had when I started my journey. And the upside is people will come into your life
to fill the vacuum that the other people left. But sometimes it doesn't happen immediately. And I think
getting comfortable with having space is a good thing. And a lot of people have the impulse or urge to
always have people around them. And I think it's to their own detriment. Because I think if you can
spend time alone with your thoughts and be okay with just being you without other people, then you
are more selective. And it's the same way with dating. Some people can't be able to be able to
alone. Some people can't be without a significant other. And so they just end up checking up with
the first person they see after they become single again, right? And it's because they have a fear
of being alone more than they think that this person is really the best pick. And so a lot of ways
are similar to dating with friends in that. We can hold out and really just pick the best people.
If you have lost friends during the process of the climb, I don't think it is something that
you should lament or be upset about. Don't look back because the past has already been completed.
What you're in is the present, be present, stay in the moment.
In this moment, you are becoming something great.
You're refining so many skills that will serve you well in the future.
Your future is going to be guaranteed because of your focus right now.
You're not abandoned, you're not alone.
You're standing in leadership.
And leadership may feel lonely, but there will be people who will come and follow your lead.
Don't give up, don't turn your back.
The commitments we keep to ourselves and what we do when no one's watching is the most persuasive evidence that governs everything we then do every day thereafter.
And this is, for me, it was a huge revelation in my life because you can look at certain people in your lives that are struggling in certain situations and oftentimes it's a result of continually unkept commitments to themselves.
Let the opportunities before you fashion you into the person you were meant to be.
Greatness is something that you go after.
Like, you must be thirsty for it.
You must desire it as if it were a cup of water at the end of a long hot day and it's nothing better.
You don't need something carbonated.
You don't need something sweet.
You need something that can savor in the soul because what you are is soil.
You're fertile.
You're growing.
You're developing.
And you don't need anything that's going to cast shade on the life that you are about to live
because you're about to be big enough and rooted deep enough that you can bear fruit that others can eat from.
generations after you're gone because you stood alone when others felt safe in the crowd.
Most men live lives of quiet desperation. It's one of my favorite quotes ever because it's true.
And I've been that guy. You're just in this world where you just can't wait to just run away.
You have an apartment you have to pay for. You have a car you leased. You have a wife that you have to feed.
You have a child. You have to raise. You have your mortgage. You have your this. You have your that.
and that's where it all comes from. Where do you think opportunity plays into that?
Well the opportunity takes place usually when you're young and you don't have any
responsibility. That's when you have your options. Well your options are severely
limited the more you gather responsibilities. Like if I had a as a 51-year-old father of three
married man pays taxes has a house and a mortgage and a business and all that jazz, if I had a
quit everything now and struggle the way I struggled as a stand-up comedian. It would never work.
But the only way I could be this person now is if I took that chance when I was 21, when I was
dead broke and had my cars repossessed and all that stuff, that's the only way you ever get
where you want to go. You have to take a path that's dangerous. And most people want to take the safe
path. The safe path leaves you stuck in quiet desperation almost every time it's hell.
My personal question to you is why not you? You've got the brains. You can make decisions.
You can study the plan. You can change your life. You can grow immensely in the next few years.
You can make your dreams come true. You can build a financial wall around your family. Nothing can get
through, you can become healthy, you can become powerful, why not you?
I had to believe in it, I had to feel it, I had to have faith in it for it to happen.
If I didn't, it wouldn't have happened.
Yeah, I go here.
I caught the dark room.
Well, you're alone.
No cell phones, no music, no TVs, no computers.
You by yourself.
Very few people want to be alone anymore.
They want to be around, noise, and people, and people.
They have to, you can't think.
Be alone.
Go to that dark space.
In that dark space, shut life off a little bit.
Go to a dark place in your mind and figure out what the fuck you want to be.
You don't know what you don't want, because you don't know what you want to be
because you haven't spent time, real time with yourself.
Spend time with yourself.
Trust me.
And once you find that passion and that purpose, your goals, your purpose, your purpose,
everything will they start lining up.
My father told us that he's retiring from the game of basketball
and that it was time for us to come back to America.
I didn't want to come back and my sisters didn't want to come back.
But when it was time to start school,
I thought that me and my sisters would be together,
the same school, just like in Italy.
But my sisters were older than I was.
They were starting high school.
It was very hard getting adjusted simply because
I had a lot of trouble
understanding English and the slang.
But one thing I had in comment with some of my other students and classmates was basketball.
And unfortunately, because of the lack of communication with my peers,
I wasn't invited to parties or, you know, friendly, friendly gatherings on the weekend.
So on Fridays and Saturdays, I would go to my rec room with my basketball
and basically dribbled myself asleep.
And I think that that was the best thing that was the best thing that was.
that could have ever happened to.
Because during those lonely hours in the rec room,
I discovered the hunger, the motivation,
and a desire to be the best possible basketball player
that I could be.
It's a great feeling to know that you set a goal for yourself.
You were able to reach that goal and to knock it down.
Don't allow them to draw you off your purpose.
You keep going and you'll find
they'll come to your tree and they'll thank you.
Your name is being caught.
in the annals of history.
Never throw away the value of what your name is
so that you can be satisfied in the moment.
Put in the work.
Go through the hardships.
Learn from them because the greatest scholarship you have
is that of God being on your side
against anything that comes up against you.
You are more than what you've seen.
You're a hell of a lot more than what others have seen.
Keep pushing forward.
Real self-worth comes from doing hard things.
We keep talking about self-love.
We keep talking about loving yourself, believing in yourself.
That happens naturally when you go through something difficult.
The day that turns your life around,
and under this subject, we're going to talk about the emotions that can change your life.
Human beings are emotional creatures.
And emotions are powerful for life change.
Now of course, emotions are so powerful they can go either way on you.
Emotions can either build or destroy.
So you really have to employ emotions properly.
We call civilization the intelligent management of human emotions.
If you can intelligently apply your emotions in the right direction,
no telling, what can happen.
Could turn your life around one day, would be sufficient.
I have to become the kind of person that can push through
the hard times. Most people can't do that. Most people cannot push through the challenging,
the draining, the frustrating times that make everybody else quit. So you have to build yourself
into someone who has the discipline, the fortitude, the grit, the perseverance, to become someone
who is literally incapable of quitting. What I've learned is to always keep going, always, no matter
what happens, the storm eventually ends. And when the storm does end, you want to make sure that you're
ready.
Don't sabotage your dreams by chasing cheap dopamine, delay your gratification, understand that the game is long and the road is difficult and that you're by yourself.
And if you cheat yourself, well, you're going to be cheated by everybody else.
Level up, focus on becoming the best version of yourself, and don't do the things in life that are going to set you back.
That which you know you're not supposed to do, you don't do it.
The life that you have is the life that you chose.
If the life that you have is not a life that you like, make different choices.
So if the life that you have is not a life that you enjoy, you are responsible.
Cling to it, things will get better.
Once you get over this downtime, and the difficulty is that people can't think of that
when they're so depressed and so hopeless and they reach bottom,
they can't visualize that things will ever get better.
But for those who have courage and have faith,
and hope that things will get better in my life.
They can look back a few years later and say,
wow, look at me now.
Some have it and some don't.
Some will stay down, they will never get up off the floor.
And others will endure and they have courage
and they have hope and life will get better.
It always does.
Loneliness is a timeless thing, tragically.
Stoicism is founded in a moment of loneliness. Zeno loses everything in a shipwreck.
Seneca's best writings come from exile when he's sent far away from the people that he loves.
Marcus Aurelius is the most powerful man in the world, but also by the very nature of his power and responsibility and fame.
He was isolated, he was lonely, just as you might be today.
You have to start looking at uncertainty and transition and that feeling of, I don't know, I'm not, you know,
know there's much more to me as a positive and not a negative and start leaning into it because let me
tell you something there is so much more to you like you haven't even figured out who you fully are yet
like that is a beautiful thing to know that there's still more to discover about yourself there's still
more to learn about yourself you know and and that's a beautiful thing to know that right and so often
we just allow fear doubt or i want to control everything to keep us from exploring that from
from really, really, you know, stepping out of our show and expanding who we really are.
Most people never succeed in life because they're waiting for conditions to be perfect.
They're waiting for the sun to shine, the temperature to be right, all the stars to align,
and then have some sort of sign that tells them to go.
And I'm here to tell you guys that will never happen.
Conditions will never be perfect.
Things will never align.
there will always be a reason for you to put off what should be done right now for a later time.
That is a success and life truth.
There's two ways to see the world.
Some people see the thing that they want,
and some people see the thing that prevents them from getting the thing that they want.
Don't spend your life living for other people.
Being a box checker for what feels right to them.
Put yourself first.
There's nothing worse than living with regret.
So take a risk.
Bet on yourself.
Do the thing that nobody thinks you can do.
Shock the world.
What do you have to lose?
A blade does not become strong
until it's been through the fire several times.
And this is just your first or second time to the fire.
And there's a lot of hammer work that has to take place.
And then you're going to have to go back in the forge again.
And it's hot.
And it melts.
you down and you're uncomfortable. You've got a lot more forge time left. You've got a lot more
hammer blows left. And it takes time. Embrace the process. You say, Duane Watt process, life.
Embrace the journey and the process of life. It won't get harder. Like, this is the hardest
part. And so if you can just make it through this, everything else is downhill. It's not that the
things that the dragons are going to slay aren't going to get bigger. They are. But you be
become so much more equipped to slay them back.
Good days and bad days are like a coin.
There are two sides.
Some days are good, some days are bad, but both have currency.
The value of who you are and what you'll become is how you look at the currency of the days you live.
Every morning when you wake up, it is a choice.
Whether it be good, whether it be bad, whether it has value or whether it doesn't.
If you keep counting the bad days, then all you will,
will ever see is that everything adds up to failure. But if you can never look at those bad days
as a setup for something great to happen, why is there rain in the day that you needed sunshine,
so that there could be a rainbow to remind you that there's a promise that tomorrow is coming.
Your hard work is paying off in ways that you can't even see yet. But one day, you'll understand.
and just know that even when things felt like they were falling apart,
everything was coming together exactly how they should.
Don't waste your time.
Do you know that everybody alive gets exactly the same amount of time we get all there is?
It's what we do with it that makes a difference.
Don't waste your life.
Set your goals high.
Quit thinking about what's wrong.
Start thinking what's right.
Love a little more, hate a little less.
You have no idea what you're capable of it.
Make up your mind today. You're going to figure it out.
Think of yesterday like a completed chapter in a book full of lessons.
But today it's a fresh page, offering us a chance to explore new possibilities.
It's not just a fleeting moment, it's an opportunity, a gift filled with potential.
Imagine it as a canvas waiting for your unique brush strokes.
In each present moment, we have the chance to shape our journey ahead.
Only have one chance at this life.
You do know that, right?
When the credits roll at the end of your movie, at the end of your life, it's just going
to say supporting actor number three, and it'll have your name.
Don't you want to be the main star?
Don't you want to be the key character in your life story?
Don't you want to make the best decisions for you because you live within your mind and body
and you know what you're called to do.
You know what excites you.
You know what you passionately get.
get excited for. Until you win, effort always goes and noticed, get used to it. No one
roots for you until everyone roots for you. That's just how it works. The beautiful part about
life is in whatever we do and whatever we seek to accomplish and whatever we pursue. If you got
two competitors when they first start something, a winner and a loser has the exact same goal
when they first started. But somewhere along the journey, the process, something,
Something is going to happen that's going to test your level of desire, it's going to test your level of passion,
going to test your words and see how bad you really want what it is that you say you want.
If you wish to be successful, study success.
If you wish to be happy, study happiness.
If you wish to be wealthy, study wealth.
Don't leave it to chance.
Make it a study.
The reality of your life is always now.
And I think this is a liberating truth about the nature of the human mind.
In fact, I think there's probably nothing more important to understand about your mind than
that if you want to be happy in this world.
The past is a memory.
It's a thought arising in the present.
The future is merely anticipated.
It is another thought arising now.
What we truly have is this moment.
That the storm must come to an end, but you can't get to the end if you get stuck at the
beginning.
Look at your life as this way.
There are moments.
And if I give up in the moment, I never get to see what the next moment will offer me.
There's a wind coming.
You just don't know when, but you will win.
you get that together, you'll stop looking at yourself as losses and realize that's what makes
losses. And remember, this journey of life, you only get one round at it. Like, you only get one
chance on this planet. And if you are letting the things that happen to you dictate and mold your
story, then what you're really doing is you're limiting and creating boundaries of how much you can
achieve. Most people who could exist will never even be born. And you're going to complain about
the life you have. Do all you can within your power and the power of others who love you.
To maximize all of this. The best way to fight the demons that chase you in the night is to
stop and turn around. Turn around. Face it. A hero dies once, a coward die.
a thousand times.
Unchosen suffering is going to happen in life.
Your parents are going to pass away,
loved ones are going to die,
your relationships are going to break down,
your body is going to fail you,
you're going to become ill or sick or destitute.
Things are going to happen.
You have no control over,
and the only way that you can prepare yourself
for unchosen suffering is with chosen suffering.
You can elect to put yourself into a position
to become a stronger alloy of whatever the metal is
that you're made of.
and by purposefully choosing difficult things,
you will arm yourself against that situation.
You think you got so much time, man.
Like you think you got so much time.
Not that you need to rush your life,
but you think you got time.
Make that call, man.
Like you think you got time.
Write that letter.
You think you got time.
Go see that person.
You think you got time.
I said, man, when I say the most underrated blessing
is leaving your house and making it back home every single day,
people treat it like it's a cliche.
Man, that's the most underrated blessing
because every single day we wake up,
we walk out of our front doors.
We just treat life as if it's promised to us.
It's not.
Problem is you think you have time,
but in reality, you don't.
So what are you waiting for?
The story.
The story they sell themselves not.
Everyone's got a story.
And everyone wants to tell you their story
of how bad they had it, how hard they had it.
And the more times you tell yourself or others that story,
the more you reinforce the fact that you're not meant to have happiness, success,
abundance, great relationship, awesome health, whatever.
The story, they don't realize that they still hold the pen.
And there's thousands of empty pages still in that book that they could rewrite that story.
But we have to let go of the pages that others have written in our book,
And we can start writing how the story looks from this day forward.
Whether you do, whether you don't, they're still going to talk about you.
At gatherings, they whisper about you if you're making moves or you're standing still.
So honestly, I've come to realize in life, just do you, just do what you want to do.
Let them talk.
And the only guarantee that you and I are going to have a better tomorrow is the fact that you and I are growing today.
If you and I are not growing today, what would make us think that tomorrow has greater possibilities?
You don't go into possibilities.
You grow into possibilities.
You don't go into opportunities.
You grow into opportunities.
It becomes the natural thing to a person that keeps learning and growing, expanding, and stretching.
There's a payoff for bad eventually.
There's a payoff.
It can't be bad but for so long.
Have you got the strength and the understanding to realize that?
Shit will change. It will change.
The saying I think to myself every day is that I didn't come this far to only come this far.
Creativity is no limits. We're not like a limited amount that we're going to use up.
When you do something, you check the box and move on. Do the next thing. We don't live in the past.
Create a life resume. Do as many things that you can do, that you want to do, and check the box and do the next thing.
and you take the chance to go after your dreams.
When you take the risk, sure you may fail, but what if you fly?
What if you succeed?
What if you do greater than you could have ever imagined?
What if you impact and change millions of lives?
What if the world is different in a better way because of you?
Making mistakes?
Mistakes happen to everybody.
Everybody makes a mistake.
You're not special because you make a mistake.
There's no big deal to make it a mistake.
It's all in the recovery.
It's all in the recovery.
Most people don't recover from a mistake.
If you want to differentiate yourself,
get the blessing of the lesson, get up, and move on.
If you are living a comfortable life,
it only means you are continuously staying inside a field
of what you know already.
Every time you are crossing that line,
Every time you are expanding that border, you are bringing light into a space that before that time was a space of uncertainty.
But there is only one way to find out and make uncertainty become knowledge.
And that one is through experiencing it.
And everybody's fundamental issue is that you either hate yourself or you do nothing but judge yourself.
and this habit of relentless self-criticism and relentless self-rejection is the reason why you're unhappy.
It's the reason why you're never satisfied.
It's the reason why you can't take a compliment and why you're uncomfortable.
And it all comes down to the fact that when you stand in front of the mirror every single morning,
You have this really subtle way that's not so subtle of starting your day by rejecting yourself.
People change in four different seasons.
People change when they hurt enough they have to.
When they see enough they're inspired to.
When they learn enough that they want to and when they receive enough that they're able to.
Those are the four times that people change.
It can't be focused on the future.
What you need to be focused is on the present moment.
What you can control today, the habits that you input today, the amount of work ethic and good
attitude that you've portrayed today, these are the things that matter.
The Stoics used to speak about these things because it's so easy to either reminisce in the past
or to be conjuring imaginary scenarios of the future, oftentimes negative, that lead a present
moment of stress and a state of being miserable.
So if you want to be in a life that is full of equanimity, equanimity means the calmness
of the soul, and a life that is full of.
peace, you need to be here now focusing on what you can control.
You have to envision something that is more powerful than you.
Something has to get you out of bed.
Every day is day one.
Every day you're deciding what you're going to do.
And you are not trapped by what you were or who you were.
Because you never want to get trapped by dogma.
You never want to get trapped by history.
It doesn't mean you discard history or ignore it, but you can't be blindly following what you've done.
And that's the heart of day one, is you're always starting fresh.
The time of year when everybody's talking about what they're going to do next year and what they're going to become and what they're going to achieve and how they're going to change and how they're going to do all these things that they have failed at doing many previous years before this year.
What makes you think that next year is going to be any different?
What makes you think that when January 1st rolls around,
that all of a sudden you're going to change everything about yourself
and become this brand new version of yourself?
Haven't you told yourself this before?
How many Mondays have you told yourself that you were going to start?
How many years have you made the same resolutions that you failed to keep?
You have to understand that if you are to make a change in your life,
you have to develop discipline.
Because to be a winner, you want to be disciplined, you want to know what you're doing,
and then you want to be on the edge where your skills are being developed.
And if you're going to be on the edge where your skills are going to be developed,
you're at a place where loss, where losing is always a possibility.
Because otherwise you're not pushing yourself beyond your current capacity.
I kind of feel like every day you have a certain amount of energy.
And I'm not talking calories, I'm talking like mental.
a certain amount of stuff which you can put out into the world.
I think the more you have to deal with everything else on this,
what do you have left if you want to do something productive?
How much stuff are you paying mine to?
How much stuff are you putting energy into thinking about
how much effort are you putting into stuff
that not only is not going to contribute to anything meaningful for yourself,
but also just weighs you down.
How much faster would you achieve your goals if it was just you and your goal?
Not you and your goal and Netflix and video games and social media and friends you don't like and movies and shows
and all these distractions that are splitting your attention in a million different directions.
You can blame your lack of accomplishment on your friends, on your family, on this, on that.
But the reality is if it was just you and your goal and no other noise, no other distractions,
I guarantee you would have nothing better to do than achieve your goal.
Look around at your life and identify the things that take your attention away from the person
you want to be and the things you want to accomplish and remove that, Jay.
Because if your goals are as important to you as you say they are, why would you voluntarily
make it harder to achieve?
Man, do what you do, right?
Stop worrying about what everybody else is doing.
Stop looking at what everybody else is doing and stay focused on what it is that you feel God
is called you to do specifically.
That's your greatness.
That's where your power is.
People start to rush their lives based upon how to you know how to do it.
highlight reels on social media. I said, the part you forget, nobody showed you the failures.
Nobody showed you the shortcomings. People very rarely show you the adversity in the opposition.
And so do what you do, right? Approach it how you approach it. That's what God will bless you
upon. It's not you doing it in a way that somebody else does it. No, he plays greatness in you.
Do it how you do it in a way that only you can do it so God can bless it.
Stop thinking that it could be better, that you should have said it differently, that you should
have done it another way. It doesn't matter. What's done is done. And the rest is just your
overthinking, making it out to be more than it is. You can't just wait for things to get perfect.
You got to just go out and do stuff. Your motivation, key motivation. You need discipline.
Because motivation's not there every day. Motivate. I'm missing motivation most days.
Every time I start doing things I don't want to do, I grow. So wherever you find in yourself,
whatever level of discomfort you're finding yourself in.
Look, just toughen up.
Just toughen up, okay?
We have a world full of weaklings, and nobody needs a weakling.
Because when you do hard things, you then are fortified and reinforced for the inevitable hardship that life is.
Because all of life is hardship with brief moments of bliss, my friend.
And if you have created a zone of comfort in a world,
of hardship, you become unstoppable. You must adopt that mindset. You will not be the victim in life.
You're going to start to create something. You have no motivation. You have no drive. You have no
ambition. But you're going to force it to happen anyway because that's what bad motherfuckers do.
And that's what you are. So you're going to go through day by day by day doing the work
regardless of how you feel like it. And then what's going to happen is you're going to see a little bit of a result.
And when you see that little bit of result, you're going to get happy because now you can clearly see that if I do the work, this result will happen.
So if you're in this phase where it doesn't feel like it's worth it, where it doesn't feel like it's very fun, just remember that you keep going and you do not let your feelings dictate what your actions will be, the results will always be there.
Fear never goes away.
You just learn to live with it.
Here's what I can tell you for free.
It's going to be much harder than you think.
It's going to take much longer than you think.
and you're going to suffer much more than you expect.
But there will be nothing worth it more.
What you've got to decide for yourself,
do you want to be the person you want to be?
If I remove the suffering from success, you lose character.
That's why you suffer.
It's because the journey you have to go through
is life that's going to teach you,
but it's going to give you depth and character.
The question you will have to ask for yourself
is, do you want to be who you are,
or do you want to be who you are becoming?
You're only as good as your last shot.
You're only as good as your last question.
A lot of people that live in past victories or past failures end up losing in life because they're reminiscing on the past.
The past will not determine the future.
You need to understand that every single day when you wake up, you have the ability to reset the clock and you have the ability to reset the direction of your life.
If you were doing something yesterday that wasn't pushing you towards success, that doesn't define you.
You can change.
You can adapt.
You can re-engineer your future by changing your habits.
Fruit happiness is not contained.
in what you get. Happiness is contained in what you become.
Some people will never like you because I believe your spirit irritates their demons.
You want to be strong? Learn how to be alone. Use this hurt as fuel, as energy. Falling down, failing is part of life. Is life? Getting up every day, no matter what is living.
It's okay if you're not.
path is different than what you envisioned. Trust all the delays, the detours, and the roadblocks.
Even if you can't see where you're headed, just trust that many roads can take you where
you want to go. Maybe it's taking you longer because you aren't cutting corners or manipulating
people to get there. Maybe it's taking you longer because you're doing it right. Whatever it is,
just keep going. You don't have to know exactly what you want to be when you grow up. You just
have to try different things, even if 99% of them failed. You only have to be right one time.
You don't have to figure it all out in advance. You can be wrong. You could pick the wrong
career. You can pick the wrong job. You can pick the wrong spouse. You can pick the wrong whatever.
But you get it right one time, you're sick. But if you don't try, and if you don't go out there
and try all those different things, you'll never get that one time.
What are you willing to do different?
How willing are you?
And a lot of people will put words to that,
but only time will tell whether those words are followed up by
the action that demonstrates the level of willingness
that is required to actualize anything of meaning in this world.
Understand that you are going to take blows.
You're not going to walk through this thing seamlessly,
never getting hit by a punch, never losing money.
It's going to happen.
And it doesn't make you less.
It's just going to help you understand and get harder to the facts of things that you have to do in order to succeed.
All I would urge you and tell you to do is understand that it does get darker before the dawn.
And you must keep pushing through it because you truly have no other choice.
I will do good.
No matter what.
No matter what happens to me.
I will do good.
No matter what happens to me.
It's an absolute rejection of the idea of being a victim.
It's like no matter how much suffering comes my way, no matter how much undeserved suffering comes my way, in spite of my innocence, I will not lose faith and I will do good.
Fear of not achieving your goal, what we call self-limiting beliefs hold you back more than anything else.
And your self-limiting beliefs are not based on reality.
That's why you have to constantly think, if I had no limitations, what goals would I set for my sense?
It's the ultimate passion, a passion for incredible success in every department of my life.
That's the passion.
But don't look down on some menial job you have to do to finally get you to where you
want to go.
No job is menial.
Every job is noble, training life for pay, making a contribution to society.
Nobody changes until they change their energy, and when you change your energy, you change
your life.
Don't expect anything in your life.
your life to change if your environment is controlling your feelings and thoughts and if your environment is
controlling how you feel and think what you're really saying is that person is controlling your feelings
and your thoughts and that means you're a victim to your environment well turn that around and you
start realizing your feelings and thoughts create your environment and you start seeing the effects of you
at cause you're going to believe more that you're the creator of your life and less victim of your life
And I say, the more you practice it, the better you get at it.
You can literally feel when it is time to move into the next chapter of your life.
And the thing is, your new life is going to cost you your old life.
All you are going to lose is what you built for a person.
You no longer are. Let it go.
It's supposed to be hard.
Everything worth pursuing comes with a little pain.
The trick is not minding that it hurts.
