If you have a true dream, is it ever delusional?
And my answer to that is never.
The great ones sprint the whole race.
That's not that they don't rest.
You know what I mean.
What I'm saying is there's a pace.
If you think something's far away, you act like it.
See, most people don't lack vision.
They have a vision.
If you ask them, hey, do you want to be rich or poor,
the average person would probably say rich.
Do you want to make a big difference in the world or make none?
I'd like to make a difference.
You can't wish your problems away.
It won't get easier.
It won't happen faster.
And you won't get closer by wishing.
The magic you're looking for is in the hard work you've been avoiding.
Before you do anything, just ask yourself,
will my future self care about this in a day, in a week, in a month, and a year?
Will I be happy, proud, glad that I did this thing?
Ask yourself, can I learn something from doing this?
Can I get something out of this?
Will I remember this tomorrow or in a week?
Because you cannot lose when it's your time to win.
Move the needle forward, even by a fraction of a centimeter.
Even if it takes a fucking microscope to see the difference, move the needle forward.
Changing your life is not about these massive leaps.
It is about that 1% of...
difference day over day, week over week, month over month, year over year. All those tiny little
details, all those tiny little improvements in aggregate is what makes the giant difference. All
these people out here thinking they're going to change their life in a single week or a single
month or 90 days, they are fucking delusional. The minute that it gets hard for them, they are going
to quit and go back to exactly who they were. But if you can learn to love those micro
differences and you put all of your stock in those tiny little differences, you will change your
life. Because those tiny little differences are the ones that stick. The people that change their
entire personality overnight will never stick to that. You move the needle by a fraction of a
percent every single day and you do not fucking go backwards. If you commit to that for the next
10 years of your life, I guarantee that your life will look so different, you won't even
fucking believe it. If I could work that hard every day, being blessed with the physical tools
that I have, what would would my career be? And I made a promise to myself from that day that I was
going to work that hard every single day so that when I do retire, I have no regrets. And that was the
most important thing for me is to leave no stone, unturn, get better every single day. And if I
live that way, then over time, you know, I'd have something that was beautiful. But that was my philosophy.
It seems like a pretty simple one. But, you know, if you live your life, it's just
get better every single day.
We do that for 20 years.
What do you have?
I know from living that if you quit whatever
you're trying to accomplish, if you quit,
whatever you were trying to accomplish can never happen.
There's not even a remote possibility.
If you quit, there is no chance of it popping back up
again, coming back later, quitting.
is guaranteed failure.
Only those that can see the invisible can do the impossible.
You have to be able to see what doesn't exist
in order to be able to pull off or achieve
what in most people's mind seems to be impossible.
Only those that can see the invisible,
being able to see what's not there.
What is your vision?
What is your idea?
What was that good?
God sent dream.
And so whatever the volcano is, you have the capacity to take that volcano on, the capacity
to jump in it and find your true identity.
Here's another thing that keep a lot of people from taking on the volcanoes and jumping
into the challenges that they're confronted with.
The fear of making mistakes or not feeling good enough.
Guess what?
You're going to make some mistakes.
You're going to make a lot of mistakes.
Guy said this and it's true.
is that the person who has never made a mistake hasn't done anything.
Success and failure are generally slow processes,
either slowly building things up or gradually tearing the down.
And that's why I say you've got to pay attention.
You have to watch, you have to watch every single
second because those seconds we turn into minutes and minutes turn into hours and hours
turn into days and days turn in to years maybe we're going through something he doesn't change
who I am what I'm going through does not change he I am you're going to make some mistakes
if you want to do something out here.
You're going to fall flat on your face.
You're going to be criticized when you come out
into the arena called life.
You're going to feel awkward and stooping and dumb sometimes.
It goes with the character.
You have to be relentless.
You have to never let off the gas,
never stop, never quit.
Never allow anyone to talk you out
of the dream, division, and ideas that God has sent you.
That second, but just went by,
that counted.
And so did that second.
And so did that one.
And in those precious seconds, you were either building or you were decaying.
You were either gaining ground or you were losing ground in that second.
Like I believe in life, you've got two separate people.
You got champions, right?
And they go through things in life that are self-inflicted.
They bring it upon themselves.
They get through it.
They say, man, I got through.
And then you got warriors, right?
They walk outside, the wind hits them, knocks them down, they pick up their stuff, they adjust and they get moving,
and they deal with the adversity that they didn't expect, they set their perspective right,
and they figure out a way to embrace it and that value to every environment that they go into
and every person's life that they come in contact with.
Now, when you're trying, you're going to fail.
But quitting, just stop it.
That was the number one thing I understand.
And then number two, you have to make sure that your dreams, your aspirations, and goals are so big that not accomplishing them is not an option.
God didn't bring you in this world to be average.
God didn't bring you in this world to wake up and die one day and just be another person that lived and died and didn't do anything significant in this world.
Let me say something.
It's very important that you listen to us.
Most of you, most of you, you're so consumed
with everything that's going on in the world.
This is the reasons you haven't figured out your own life yet.
You can never shine trying to sit on someone else's son.
You can never figure out who you are
if you're consumed in everything that everything,
everybody else is and what they're doing and the moves that they're making.
When you are struggling with what to do, who you are, what's your next move, you are in an
identity crisis.
You are struggling with just who you are.
See, you have not discovered who you are.
You have to discover who you are in order to move you forward.
Every single day.
So you want to get better?
You want to self-improve, stop looking for a shortcut.
And go find your alarm clock, find your discipline,
and find your guts and your passion and your drive,
and find your will.
And then, and then you will find your freak.
So a lot of people, if you've never made any major blunders,
made some major mistakes,
taking some serious risk.
You haven't started living yet.
You don't call that living.
Not rocking the boat.
Going through life quietly,
kept toying safely to an early grade.
You almost have to be insane a little bit
to have such blind faith in something that you can't see.
The most important question to ask yourself
is what pain are you willing to endure in your life,
rather than what pleasure do you want.
So whatever pursuit it is that you're going through,
whatever challenges are placed in front of you,
realize that there is value in stepping outside of their comfort,
that on the other side of discomfort is something valuable.
We're told that worthwhile things are difficult to attain
because if they weren't difficult to attain,
they wouldn't be worthwhile.
If you want it, you've got to go get it.
It's not about today, it's about the future.
You do the work now.
Do the work now.
And all of this shit that you could ever want to do for your family, your kids, your loved ones,
it's all going to be on a whole other stratosphere.
If short, go harder than you did last year.
You need to become the ideal version of who you think you were meant to become,
where it is this effortless and joyful human experience of continually growing into a business.
better version of yourself as a way of life.
Purpose. No one can create your purpose for you.
No one can tell you who to be.
So in purpose, you have to create your own purpose.
And in evolution, you have to evolute towards that purpose.
It's easier to live when you have goals to meet.
It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles.
or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.
The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena,
whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood,
who strives valiantly, who errs, who comes short again and again
because there is no effort without error and shortcoming.
Who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement
and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.
You need to make a change somewhere.
Know that this is your opportunity to separate yourself out from the pack.
Every other person feels the exact same way.
They also feel the hunger.
They also feel the fatigue.
They also feel the lack of motivation and that every other person that you're competing with also feels it.
If you're someone who's always doing things other people aren't willing to do, you always max out, you always go to the next level.
You convince yourself you deserve to win.
You can take low self-esteem, low identity, low confidence and change it.
over time by building this habitual addiction to doing one more, this obsession of one more.
A way to discover what you were put on earth for is to go back into your past, list the times
you felt most fulfilled, and then see if you can draw a line through them. What have you truly
loved thus far? What has ever uplifted your soul? What has dominated and delighted at the same time?
assemble these revered objects in a row before you,
and perhaps they will reveal a law by their nature and their order,
the fundamental law of your very self.
Fall in love with what you have to do.
The motivation is love.
You're starting to see it even before it happens.
When you fall, don't beat yourself up.
Begin again, over and over and over again.
And people think that law of attraction is something
something they can believe in or not believe in,
when in reality it's happening whether you recognize it or not,
because if you go back and track your thoughts
and you audit your thoughts honestly,
you are living the existence that you believe
you deserve to live right now.
So when you learn to control that,
just like we're talking about this,
through learning, accepting this true,
and then practicing the skill set,
you get better and better and better and better.
So much value in what you unlearned.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is unlearn some things.
We're always going after learning something new,
that we want to learn and learn, learn.
But sometimes your biggest breakthrough is in what you unlearn,
and then you relearn.
You have to disrupt that soil in order to plant a new seed
to grow a new fruit.
Worrying about what everybody else is doing,
stop looking at what everybody else is doing,
and stay focused on what it is that you feel God is called you to do,
specifically.
That's your greatness.
that's where your power is.
The most important thing in the world is what you believe about yourself.
That's the most important thing.
Your entire experience is fabricated out of what you believe about yourself.
Failure has made me who I am today.
Failure gives you two choices. You stay down or you get up.
You think jealousy is hatred.
That's not what it is all.
Jealousy is desire.
Jealousy is a clue.
It's a directional signal.
It's a dot on the map of your life.
And the desire is blocked by fear or comparison or insecurity or stress or whatever.
Instead of aiming that jealousy out at the world or at myself,
aim it into inspiration.
Aim it into motivation.
Explore it, lean into it.
Give yourself permission to have that thing.
And then get off your ass and go make it happen.
Just don't quit today.
Tomorrow will take care of itself.
What have we got to do tomorrow?
Just don't quit today.
Little step.
Tiny step.
Tomorrow.
What are we going to do?
Well, I don't know, but I'm not going to do that today.
Just today.
All right?
Just make one good decision today.
When you go to sleep at night, think about your goals for the coming day.
Make a list for each day of all the goals, the little goals you're going to accomplish that day.
Keep a journal and write down your goals on a regular basis.
When you're driving through the day, think about your goals.
When you talk to other people, think about your goals.
You see, you do become what you think about most of the time.
You do achieve what you think about most of the time.
So all successful people think about their goals most of the time.
You will never feel ready to do things that scare you.
You will never feel ready to jump off the cliff.
You will never feel ready to take that leap.
Your brain is designed to protect you and change your cliars risk.
And so you are protecting yourself by saying maybe tomorrow.
If you want to change your life, you must make a decision to change your life.
It takes power.
It takes effort.
It takes discipline to break the old you, to break those habits, to break free of the chains that have been holding you back.
That's where it takes the most effort.
And then once you climb up and you start to get altitude, you start to get elevation, gravity becomes weaker.
Your old weaker self doesn't have the same influence that it had.
It's easy to want it.
It's easy to think about it.
It's easy to dream about it.
It's easy to tell people you're going to do it.
What's hard is getting up in the morning and doing it.
What's hard is doing it when all your friends are telling you not to do it.
What's hard is having everything in your life tell you that you should pull the plug on what you're doing right now
and go get a normal job like everyone else.
Go be like everyone else.
Go live the life that everyone else wants you to live.
But showing up anyway.
That's what's hard.
But that's what's actually going to get you where you want to go.
Most people never succeed in life because they're waiting for conditions to be perfect.
They're waiting for the sun to shine, the temperature to be right, all the stars to align.
And I'm here to tell you guys that will never happen.
Conditions will never be perfect. Things will never align.
There will always be a reason for you to put off what should be done right now for a later time.
That is a success and life truth.
A warrior is sent. A warrior has to be done.
or feels the obligation. If something is out of balance out there, I'm going to fix it. Or you try.
And if you try and you fail, you try harder next time. But you don't give up.
Starting tomorrow, what are you going to do that will make a change in your life's direction?
Good question. What are you going to do starting tomorrow that'll make a difference?
Now see, if you don't do something starting tomorrow that'll make a difference, guess what?
It's going to be the same.
And see, that way you can guess what the next five years are going to be like.
Look at the last five.
Because the next five are going to be like the last five unless you made your key tomorrow, change it all.
Or change a little or change something or don't change.
It's choice time.
You can do whatever you want.
But that hardest part of changing is breaking that gravitational force in the beginning.
The stationary inertia of habit that's been controlling you for seven, 10, 15 years,
leave your weak old self behind and go after it.
Everybody has a turnback moment.
You have a moment where you can go forward or you can give up.
But the thing you have to keep in mind before you give up is that if you give up,
The guarantee is it will never happen.
That's the guarantee of quitting, that it will never happen no way under the sun.
The only way the possibility remains that it can happen is if you never give up no matter what.
My view is like you can't control the outcome all the time.
Sometimes it should go the other people's way.
It shouldn't always go your way.
So you get motivated by the losses.
you stay motivated through the winning.
What you can control is your process.
You can control those intangibles.
You can control the work ethic,
the consistent discipline,
your attitude, your culture, how would you care?
All those things are in you.
They just need to be drawn out of you.
There are going to be days where you get up
and you do exactly what you're supposed to do
and you work as hard as you possibly can
and nothing happens.
And on that day, you're going to feel like you're wasting your effort.
You're going to feel like you're wasting your time.
On that day, you're going to wonder why you're even doing this.
But on that day, you're going to promise yourself that you're going to do it again tomorrow.
And when tomorrow arrives and the same thing happens, you're going to promise yourself that you're going to do it again the next day.
If you keep doing that, one of those days, something's going to happen.
So keep showing up.
Keep doing the work and trust that one day it's going to lead to what you want.
Because if you do the work, it will.
If you will change, everything will change for you.
If you will get better, everything will get better for you.
If you'll change your philosophy, you'll change your habits, if you'll refine your thinking,
if you'll change and accept some new disciplines, if you'll turn the corner, where you've been in the past, go for a new life for the future,
all kinds of remarkable things will happen for you, if you will change.
What does it take to do the impossible?
What does it take to achieve paradigm shifting never seen before breakthroughs?
Again, I've worked with thousands and thousands of Adies.
I have never met one in my entire life who said I feel enough.
But many who said, I don't feel enough.
You know, I'm trying to fill this emptiness inside.
You can't fix an emotional pain with stuff.
I mean, obviously we think we can.
We shop and buy stuff to fill up this pain.
But it doesn't work.
You have to recognize that what life is.
beneath self-hatred, self-sabotage, procrastination, and so many more things, there's this
inner feeling, I'm not enough.
Because if you had a billion dollars and every day you live pissed off and frustrated,
the quality of your life is called pissed off of frustration.
But if you have nothing, but you're euphorically grateful for whatever you have, you're a richest
person that you're getting to know.
It is a state of consciousness known to researchers as flow.
Now, you may know Flo by other names, right?
You may call it Runners High or being in the zone.
If you happen to play basketball, you might call it being unconscious.
If you're a beatnik jazz musician, you're being in the pocket.
If you do stand-up comedy, you're in the forever box.
Flow is a technical term.
As I mentioned earlier, it is technically defined as an optimal state of consciousness.
One word, feel our best, and we perform our best.
Who's counting on you to be at your best today?
Like, who's watching you all the time that you need to be able to be able to
be a good role model for. So you could go there and introduce a little bit of pain if that pain
serves you to be able to level up your life, right? And you use it intelligently. The repetition of
thinking and feeling and feeling and thinking caused me to feel guilt and I don't even know it's guilt.
It just feels like me. It's just I'm used to the same chemical continuity. Now, the moment they
decided to change, anytime you decide to change and change anything about yourself, get ready
because it's going to feel uncomfortable. You're going to leave another.
Leave the familiar and you're going to step into the unknown.
So here's my advice to you.
Expect amazing things then.
If what is expected tends to be realized, expect the best.
Expect love and success and an amazing life.
Because you know what?
It will probably be realized really fast if you expect it.
You start seeing that somebody else can do it.
And you see they really did.
You start to believe.
You start to get surgery.
And then the fourth thing I tell people is it's massive action.
It constantly changed your approach and then it's finding somebody worse off than you are and help them
Because when you do that you get you out of yourself
When I'm at my best I'm in this state and every idea
Every action every decision flows seamlessly perfectly effortlessly from the last
So flow is actually a phenomenological description is how the state makes us feel
Some people are super happy being unhappy so then they would rather cling to their suffering than take a chance and possibility
So these people said, I really have nothing to lose, right?
So then they said, I'm willing to be uncomfortable and be in the unknown.
And it turns out that's the perfect place to create from.
So when the body is conditioned to become the mind, then to change is to be greater than the body.
Now, Shakespeare said, from pain comes out.
And it is true that people who've had a blissful life can't write about pain.
It's not your connections and network.
It's not your education levels.
Everybody has different, right, external.
But the one thing that is constant is we all have what?
24 hours in a day.
And so if you had, imagine every single morning your bank account,
you all automatically, every morning when you wake up,
there's extra $86,400 in it.
And here's the thing.
At midnight, whatever you didn't invest and use is gone.
And that's how I look at time.
We all have four aspirations our whole life.
Our being goals, like who we want to be as a person
and our desire to be congruent at that.
Our relating goals, how we want to treat other people
and show up with other people.
Our creation goals, the things that we want to create,
the things that we want to contribute,
like I want to do something.
And then our growth goals, how we want to grow along the world.
way. We all have degrees of pain. We get rejected, we get dumped, we get hurt, but you're supposed to
get over the pain. Human beings are incredibly resilient and we are wired to recover from pain.
Right. We have 86,400 seconds in a day and whatever you're not investing in it into something
for your happiness, for your health, for something that's going to outlast you, then you lose it
every single day. Nobody changes until they change their energy. And when you change your energy,
you change your life. I'm useless. I'm spectacular. I'm terrified. I'm delighted. And by the way,
fear and excitement are exactly the same. You can be on a fun fair screaming your head off and
going, oh, look at that wheel. Are they scared or excited? I don't know. Do you? Because it's the same
when you're excited, you scream. And when you're scared, you scream.
You think about most of your fears, most of your anxieties.
Very few of them are in the right here, right now.
They're usually horrible things that happen in the past,
that we'd like to avoid happening again in the present,
or there's scary things that might, maybe, could happen in the future, right?
And we'd like to steer around it.
When we end up in the deep now, when time gets shut down in the flow state,
anxiety disappears, your stress hormones flood out of your system.
I want to be a good person who's congruent and proud of myself.
I want to relate with other people so there's deep, real meaningful connections, love and care.
I want to create things that I feel like draw out my passions and make a difference.
I want to grow into the best person I can.
If we all have that same thing, what's the difference makers?
Usually two things.
Number one, did you take command?
And the other thing is community.
The people that you're around.
The inner event is an experience, an experience in which is the brain.
We don't see things how they are.
We see things how we are.
So as you begin to change your circuitry, you're going to perceive more of reality.
And why?
Because we probably perceive 1% of reality.
So how do we begin to fully engage, right?
What matters is the essence, what matters is by making a difference in the world.
How can I begin to affect change and help people to heal or create a better life for themselves?
The most important thing is to keep the most important thing, the most important thing.
We all need people in our life that encourage us.
We all need people in life that challenge us.
We all need people in life that cheerlead for us,
that help encourage us, that give us courage, right?
And if you haven't found that person,
be that person.
Be that person for somebody else.
Especially be that person for yourself.
It's when you say I could never do that again
or kill me to do that again.
I'd rather die than do that again.
Now our mind is very serious.
is very certain we must not go through that again.
And it allows us to hold back and live a very limiting life
because we told it something utterly untrue.
You can go through anything.
If it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger.
The internal mayhem of the self-doubt, the fear, the frustration,
the lack of motivation and discipline that just upsets us that we all have.
But the real mayhem that really messes up people in the interest space is the relationship mayhem.
right you have to believe you are capable of achieving the impossible before you can actually
achieve the impossible there's just no other way around it ask yourself what kinds of impossible
grand challenges would you guys go after would you solve in your own life would you try to
solve in the world if you could be 500% more productive you could be 600% more creative
if you could cut learning times in half this is exactly
exactly what is available to each and every one of you today.
Take your attention off your body and you go from somebody to nobody.
You take your attention off the people in your life and go from who you identify with,
from someone to no one and so many people spend our whole life building an identity of being someone.
And take your attention off time, linear, thinking about the predictable future of the familiar past,
and fall into the generous present moment and go from sometimes.
to no time, then all you're left with is consciousness.
You know, like living your dreams, let's be really frank, can be scary.
But you know what's scarier?
Not living.
You decided there's something you wanted so bad that you unleashed all your desire.
You became obsessed with it.
If it was a business or a car or a relationship or a transformation of your body,
if there's something you once envisioned and now it's real,
and now it's real.
It's because you didn't just envision it.
You brought so much emotion to it
that now it's in your life.
It was once a dream,
it was once a goal,
and now it's in your life.
Because I know how hard I've played every day.
I know how much I'm willing to bleed for my goals.
So this is not about emotional austerity.
This is not about grinding yourself into the dirt.
First of all, it's doing something you love
so that as you're grinding and going that hard,
it's something that you just want to do.
On the other side, because you're going that hard,
that you just don't have the guilt that most people have
when you take time off.
Honor the struggle.
Like so many people bemoan the hardship.
And they hate it.
And I'll say, you know, anything you apply hate to, it quickly dies.
You got a dream and you're hate in the process.
You apply hate to the process, the dream's going to die.
You know, be very careful of what you put hate or things to.
And those people would be out with hardship.
And I've always seen hardships.
like I'm going to honor this process.
I'm going to honor that this is difficult
because that is precisely that's needed.
But most people have strategies available
or they could get them or you could create them.
But the problem is you've got a story.
And your story is why it isn't working.
And the story is, I've tried what?
Everything.
If you tried everything, you'd be fit.
There's always a story.
And when I tell people's, you know,
if you can just divorce the story of your limitation
and marry the truth of your unlimited capacity,
then the whole game changes.
deep and lasting fulfillment.
The thing that as a human makes us feel good,
the thing that we're all secret, deep down,
no matter what you tell people you're chasing,
the thing you're actually chasing is fulfillment.
You want to feel good about who you are.
You want to feel good about your contributions.
You want to feel good about meaning and purpose in your life.
So those are the things ultimately that people are chasing.
They think that money is going to give that to them, and that they're wrong.
No limit people.
are human beings who take what they are and accept it.
And don't tell themselves that somehow they're deficient
because of anything about themselves.
It's this idea of taking your life in your own hands
and being the kind of person that you choose to be
and understanding that everything that comes your way
is an opportunity,
is a blessing.
And it wasn't until I learned how to celebrate virtually everything that came my way that I was able to transcend it.
Does the decision that you're about to make expand you, expand your future, or expand the possibilities of your life?
If the answer is yes, then the decision is yes, no matter how terrifying it is.
Have a mind that is open to everything.
and attached to nothing.
One of the central principles of my life is that no one knows enough
to be a Pessus about anything.
And that each and every one of us, when we close our mind
to what is possible for us or what is possible for humanity,
closes off the genius that resides and lives in each and every one of us.
Truth is life will never be joyous unless you break the joy.
I really feel like that.
So many people are waiting to have happiness,
and they're just, they're waiting to like,
well, maybe when my boss loosens up, I'll loosen up.
Or, you know, when she's vulnerable, we'll all be vulnerable.
Or if it's like we're waiting for something,
I'm like, your life will never be what it's going to be
unless you bring that thing.
Shakespeare noted, there is nothing good or bad,
but thinking makes it so.
There's nothing good or bad, right?
There's just stimulus and then there's response.
People think that it is objectively a certain way.
So now because they think it is objectively a certain way,
they feel they are supposed to react
based on those emotions that are getting kicked up in their mind.
What I'm saying is absolutely not.
Those emotions may not serve you.
They are certainly not aimed at moving you towards your goal.
Their jobs to keep you alive, plain and simple.
So that's not necessarily very helpful in a modern context.
So if you want to always be moving towards your goal,
you want to be optimized,
you've got to learn to get control of your emotions.
You've got to learn to understand
to tell yourself a narrative
that isn't predicated on necessarily identifying
what is objectively true
because I don't think that we experience the world that way.
It's identifying what's going to work
to get me to my goal.
And if you don't find something
that you love what you do, don't bother.
Because if you don't have a passion
for what you do and your love, it gets old.
Okay?
Well, if you're not passionate about what you do in life,
it gets old.
and then it becomes work.
And as soon as it becomes work, we're finished.
So this progress that we're creating
in the search for ubiquity of happiness,
for the utopia of this place that we will arrive at,
this tropical place called happiness,
is the biggest lie of it all.
So the truth of our existence
is that there is nothing truly on the outside
that can ever,
fill us up. A lot of you feel stuck because you're waiting for some kind of external force
to either push it and pressure you to change and to be great and to be amazing or you're waiting
for somebody to give you permission or then likely no one's come. The only kind of force that
truly create change in your life is you, the internal kind of force. I hate to say it, but
for those of you that feel really, really stuck,
and you keep thinking that somebody's got to pick me.
It's ridiculous.
This is external versus internal force.
He said, then there are those who reach a stage
in which they realize the futility of this constant striving,
struggling for the things that perish,
things which after they are obtained prove to be shadows.
It is at this stage that some first thing,
term from the seeking for things in the outer realm
to a seeking for them from God.
Taking the focus in my life off of the things,
the accomplishments, the acquisitions,
reputation, ownership,
which we begin to identify ourselves as.
