Episode Date: December 24, 2025https://www.patreon.com/AdeptusRidiculoushttps://www.adeptusridiculous.com/https://twitter.com/AdRidiculoushttps://shop.orchideight.com/collections/adeptus-ridiculousBjorn is not just a Space Wolf;... in many respects, he is THE Space Wolf. From walking beside the Allfather himself during the Great Crusade to spending the last 10,000 years napping in a Dreadnought, Bjorn has a saga longer than the modern Imperium. In this episode, we cover the absolute unit that is Bjorn the Fell-Handed. We dive into his early days of accidentally shooting down Kasper Hawser (oopsies), his five-year hunt for the demon Arvax to avenge his pack, and the conflicting sources on how exactly he lost his hand—was it chopped off by Valdor or lost to a demon on Prospero?. But it’s not all ancient history. We also break down the Battle of the Fang, where a very angry, freshly-woken Bjorn decided to treat a Daemon Primarch like a piñata. Plus, we discuss the time he told the Inquisition to shove it, reminding them that calling the Emperor a "god" is exactly how this whole mess started.Support the show

Welcome, everyone, to another episode of the Adeptus Ridiculous podcast.
My name is D.K. Diamante's, his name is Kiryoth, and also his name is Bricky.
You know why you're here, but before we get going, if you want to support the channel monetarily,
head over to Patreon.com slash Adeptus Ridiculous, where you get access to the Discord,
bloopers if they happen, $15 tier get you access to all of our posters in crispy digital form,
which, oops, by the way, there's a new poster today.
Ki, Kerioth, do you think you're ready?
I hope it's Christmas themed.
Oh, you poor sweet summer child.
Oh, no.
What does that the hell does that mean?
Well, you'll see.
You'll see.
Let them have it, Chai.
And they were roommates.
And they were roommates, yeah.
Roommates, wow.
Wow.
Right?
Pretty great, huh?
I mean, I was expecting something slaughter related, but that works too, I suppose.
Mm-hmm.
I like the abs.
Yeah, I was going to say, the abs are insane.
I can't.
This is like a high-level MMO armor-looking ass shit.
What if we did toxic Yowie, but instead we just remove the midsection.
Perfect.
Hell yeah.
This is that toxic Uri, though, but that's all right.
That's all right.
Oh yeah, I hadn't noticed the lipstick on the cheek.
Very nice touch.
Very nice.
Ah, yeah, the black lipstick on the cheek, yeah.
God damn you people.
Okay, well, you know, it's available at the merch store and linked in the description.
You can get yourself the poster.
Give it a checkout down link below.
Yay, good stuff.
Brickie's already got one hanging in his room.
Oh, Shire has another thing as well, apparently.
I was going to ask, is this the only podcast where at least one of the hosts routinely is more like resigned about the idea of new merch, new posters?
Less like, hell yeah, we've got something new and more like, all right.
I'm happy with a new thing as being made by me.
I like when I'm the one who designs it and gets it settled and give you a bit, blah.
Merry Christmas, everyone.
Before we start, I have as well a Christmas gift for you from one of the community members.
They really enjoyed last year's episode where D.K.K. and Burkey made their own chapter, the fealty of Equinox, and they commissioned some art for you.
Thank you, Mr. Starman, a longtime patron and fan of the podcast for commissioning this.
The art was dumbed by Relethel, which I'm sure the name will be on the screen right now.
Also, that does look really sick.
That's dope as hell.
We got the eagle.
We got the absolutely over the top level of purity seals.
And of course, they're going to be a big sniper rifle.
That actually is super sick.
That's dope as hell.
Thank you.
That's really good.
Hell yeah.
Also very cold planet kind of background.
That is actually genuinely really, really sick.
Yeah.
That's super dope.
Hell yeah.
Wow, we have the best fans.
They're pretty cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
lie. Yeah, let's go. So, um, so Kerioth. I've got a quote for me. I misunderstood what today's
episode was. Oh, you know. I thought we were doing next week's and I was wrong. So now I have
large, large, unanswered questions about today's episode. Well, I can, I can give you an
answer to those questions, provide you to, uh, you guess the quote. In which case.
I mean, also if you don't guess the quote, then I'll have to tell you regardless.
Almost likely shy will put it in all caps and call you stupid.
But there are answers forthcoming.
He'll do that no matter what.
I mean, that's less dependent on the quote and more just general vibes, isn't it?
Okay, here you go.
Walked, ran, pissed and killed.
I did it all.
I met the all father, you know.
For to his side more than once.
I do believe he liked me.
Kaisannares slowly slowly went to his knees.
Oh, not you as well.
I caught this one the moment you said the first four things.
I mean,
Allfather makes me think this is some space wolves bullshit.
Yep.
Right?
That would be correct.
I don't know specifically which one, though.
All I know is this is some space wolf nonsense.
Yeah, we're definitely doing Bjorn.
Yeah, absolutely.
That's the one.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
That's the man.
The fell hand.
I was thinking that.
I was like, you know what this is?
I remember this because that is part of the
monster shame stuff, if I'm not mistaken.
And an inquisitor or something is like, oh my God,
you met the emperor and he starts bowing.
And Bjorn's like, God damn you, dude, not you too.
Yeah, he really hates people like bowing and kneeling down in front of him.
He's like, please stop it.
Just stand up for God's sake.
So is Bjorn, ooh, is Bjorn technically the,
oldest living space marine or is that kind of like maybe not necessarily him but damn is it up
there quote unquote living well yeah yes yeah it gets a little bit complicated because of all the
like primarish stuff where some of them were technically around but then went into the freezer and then
came back out later and all that so there's the chaos
space marines that are alive because war
shenanigans because there are people
like Abadon and stuff that are still around.
Yeah, but they're cheating.
They've got time.
I must say, is he the
literally cheating? They're hacking.
Is he the oldest living loyalist
Spitzmarine?
I think he pretty much is. I can't think of
anyone else who was around in the Horacee
that is still
going in some
in some like
coherent way. It's probably the best
way to put it. There might be any number of like
random freaks line around who have been locked in stasis or whatever.
But in terms of like your main characters, you know and people, he's pretty up there,
like being a 10,000 years old, odd, and still being like lucid and capable of actually,
you know, performing not just in battle, but also looking over, looking over Fenry's
keeping things going.
For comparison, how old is Dante again?
He's like three and a half?
3000?
Yeah.
Like 4,000, yeah.
Which is still very old.
Yeah.
For not being in a dreadnought, foof.
The man just wants to rest.
Very old, yes.
He's primaricified now, so I guess things are a little bit easier.
He actively wants to die.
He's just not allowed to.
Oh, not anymore.
Not anymore.
I'm pretty sure he's okay with living now,
or at least he's kind of got that like jobs undone type thing.
Yeah.
Go up a little bit of a little bit.
Like a little bit of, like, excitement back for life, having been.
Dante's got to put the no-dreadnought clause in his, in his contract, though,
because, man, can you imagine?
Like, finally, I'm dead.
And it's like, no, no, no, no, no, no.
You're in a dreadnought now, idiot.
No, that won't, that won't work.
He's going to be Malcarians.
They're going to intern him, and he's going to be very upset about it.
But, uh, okay, okay, Bjorn, what a, what a choice for the Christmas Eve airing episode.
Tis the season for a cold angry man.
Yeah, pretty much.
This is, it's, it's essentially like an overview of Bjorn.
And I just want to point out that Possum called this script how he made 10,000 years of history bearable.
But it's spelled bare.
With a B, E-A-R.
Yeah.
But it's a wolf.
Yeah, but he's a wolf, yeah.
The possum everything.
The possum think that he was a wolf instead?
Have you?
Is possum stupid?
One might say this is unbearable.
Have you read Burning a Prospero?
Because it's quite a good pun if you have.
And if you haven't, then it doesn't make any sense.
Haven't read it.
Okay.
I actually have not read it either, no.
That's one of the ones on my list.
I know what happens.
Decent poem.
We'll get that.
We'll get that.
How did Parson not know the Joker was dead? Is he stupid?
Does he know?
So, we're not going to go into everything he's done because we will be here for hours.
He's 10,000 years old. He's been around for quite a while.
This is sort of an overview and some of his notable moments, which, you know, means we won't be recording until tomorrow.
So Bjorn is not just a space wolf. He is in many respects the space wolf. He stood beside the Emperor of Mankind himself, protected the broken body of Lehman Rus multiple times, and stood quiet vigil as the wolf king vanished into the eye of terror itself. The very dreadnought that houses Bjorn is a connection to the entirety of the history of the Space Wars chapter. And though he awakens less frequently, Bjorn does not waver in his support and 10,000 year dedication to the protection of the
chapter. He's a living history with a saga as long as the modern Imperium. So today we're going
to have a nice overview of the man himself, from his history during the Crusade and his many
battles with Lehman Rus to his current existence in the dreadnought that has sustained him for so
long. There are very few characters living in the Imperium that garner as much respect as
beyond the fell handed, and it's very easy to see why. Also, he's got one of the best looking
dreadnoughts. It's a genuine crime. It's a genuine crime.
he was not updated as a miniature during the space wills refresh.
Genuine crime.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's kind of crazy that you would refresh the space wolves and not touch up
Bjorn the fell hand.
I mean, I think Games Workshop really wants to stop doing box shreds, which is also a crime,
even though I do like the look of the Redemptor a lot.
But I wonder if they're like, oh, we don't want to refresh Bjorn because he's a box shred.
but they could totally refresh Bjorn despite being a box dreadn.
I was going to say, like, when I think of dreadnots, like, I only think of box knots.
Like, that to me is like the iconic dreadnought that I want to see.
They want to stop doing those?
I like box knots.
All signs point to them trying to remove box knots, aka making terrible rules, never refreshing any of them,
and then legends.
other ones from the game.
All signs point to removing box knots.
I don't like that. Which sucks. I don't like it either, but that's, you know, that's the way
the wind is blowing. Yeah. But yeah, that joy toy one looks great.
When they, when they introduced the Primaris Marines and then they started to slowly,
not quite replace stuff in the firstborn side of things with Primaris equivalents.
They like sacked off the idea of boxnoughts in favor of the Redenta chassis, but
people complain so much about it and this is why I think they started to refresh terminators
and do stuff that is kind of firstborn slash primaris agnostic where it's just like it's just a guy
it's a guy it doesn't matter i think probably it'll be good if they brought box noughts back
but if they did they would probably upscale them but that would be a perfect chance to do it to do it for
like bjorn the fell handed because he's a character model you can come up with any sort of
justification to make him bigger and cooler. I mean, for God's sake, Logan Grimnar is
bloody massive for no reason. So, yeah. Yeah. It's a bit of a, like, a slaring emission.
I kind of forgot what Redemptor Dreadnots look like, and I just looked it up, and I'm like,
oh, man, yeah, I like box nuts way more. Like, the Redemptor looks like it's the Dreadnought
with a mechanical beer belly. I don't like it. I'll be perfectly honest. I actually like
the Redemptor more than the box knot. But I do. I do.
consider there to be a place for both. And so I still don't want bots not to go away.
Yeah. I just, it looks too like weirdly stubby to me. Anyway, sorry, I don't want to, we've,
we've tangent enough. Go ahead, Kyriot. Make them bigger. That's all he needs to do. Now,
the history of Bjorn is in itself a legend that goes back well over 10,000 years. It's unknown
when he was born, but it's believed that it was roughly M30. The earliest records of him involve
him engaging in active combat and participation during the tail end of the Great Crusade itself.
One of the earliest instances of Bjorn being active came in the form of the academic
Casper Horsa, sorry, capser. I always get that wrong. I always think it's the other way around.
Visiting Fenris at the very end of M30. Traveling to the planet under the name Ahmad in Ruster,
Horsa was drawn to Fenris to do some sabbatical work, but in actuality he had been compromised by a demon that was
bringing him to the planet and was acting as an unknowing sleeper agent, which, poor lad,
poor fella.
Yeah.
I want to do some research.
No, you don't.
You want to allow me to look through your pathetic human eyes.
Yay.
So, Horsa arrived in orbit and after several requests was given permission to land on Fenris.
However, his ship was shot down by none other than Bjorn himself.
What welcome.
That's very typical space wolf welcome.
Yeah.
So this was a minor oopsies, but Bjorn knowing that it was a mistake made his way to rescue Horsa,
along with two Fenrizian natives who had protected Horsa from the elements.
Horsa got pretty messed up and was provided treatment from the space walls that enhanced and augmented him.
It also included a 50-year cryogenic sleep,
to Thousand Suns and a hell of a lot more stuff.
Read Prospero Burns.
It's very good.
Excellent book.
Just quick recap, you said,
50-year cry of sleep,
Thousand Suns, and then here we are again?
Yeah, a lot happened in that book,
and a Horcer is sort of the eyes through which most of that book happens.
So,
definitely worth going.
It would then become the skull of the company that fought with Bjorn.
One of these most notable early conflicts occurred on the planet of Grith.
It was here that Bjorn met a demon that would become his nemesis.
Alvax the arch launderer.
What a name.
Not again.
Not again.
We use that word.
Are you serious?
You're supposed to censor it?
I can't.
I'm having PTSD flashbacks post-traumatic slutter disorder.
We couldn't just move past it once, huh?
We just got one time.
Every episode, there's got to be a reference.
single episode.
God.
You'll be shocked to learn
that this is a demon king
of corn.
So, you know, you're surprised,
I know, turns out,
the arched ultra, very cornate.
You said it twice, Kyria.
Sorry, I stopped saying it.
We just talked about this.
From this point on, we'll only call him
Arvax. We won't mention the title.
We'll pretend that didn't happen.
Can we bleep it, shy?
Is that thing we can do?
Henceforth it is a banned word on this channel.
Never again.
During their encounter, Lehman Rus himself would have to show up and provide last-minute aid,
and although the Primarch's present helps turn the tide,
it was Bjorn himself who was able to face down Arvax and drive him from the battlefield.
Though this was a victory, it was far from a celebratory one in the eyes of Bjorn.
He would deny it being viewed as truly victorious as the loss of his pack rattled
him to the core. As their bodies would burn atop pies of victory, Bjorn would swear an oath for total
vengeance. He would not rest until the demon was found and his focus would remain on this demon
and its destruction. He had become a lone wolf and he would remain this way until he killed it.
But this would take some considerable time because it would be years until Arvax was found again.
Five years where Bjorn would personally hunt for the demon so that he could fulfill his oath.
Word had reached Lehman Russ that it was found, and he would personally go to face it down.
Now, it would make sense that Russ would get word of this in one way or another.
He was the prime arc of the space wolves.
He had resources and a network, and it made sense why he wanted to face down this demon.
It took down so many of his wolves, and it needed to die.
But without nearly as many resources, and pretty much on his own,
Bjorn would not only learn about the location of Arvax, but he would find out where he would,
was and get there just before Lehman Russ would.
What a legend.
He's not held down by as much bureaucracy, you know?
No red tape for Bjorn.
He's able to just go straight there.
As Russ pushed forward on the surface to encounter Arvax,
he would witness that he was actually a little bit too late
because Bjorn had already got there
and was currently facing the demon down in a duel.
The demon would rush to.
towards Bjorn, and Bjorn would yell the names of each of his brothers that were killed by it.
At the height of this battle, Bjorn would climb the demon as if it were a tree, and he would rip its throat out in a fairly brutal manner with his wolf claw.
God damn.
Well, how big is this demon, that he's climbing it like a tree and ripping its jugular out, or its throat out?
This is like great a demon, like demon prince territory.
This is a big lad.
This is a chunky, this is a chunky demon.
I'm not sure why, but I was expecting it to be like almost his size,
but like really just bulky and, you know, demon-like.
I always find it kind of humorous whenever someone rips the throat or something like that out of a demon.
Because like, for the most part, a lot of times the demons are described
as being like this horrifying ephemeral force.
It's like, it gives me the same vibe as like fulgroom,
strangling an avatar of cane to death.
I mean, things got to breathe.
It's made of lava.
It's just got a very hot breath.
I'm sure it works.
Like, I'm sure it's fine.
It just gives me a giggle.
What do you mean it needs to breathe?
It's made a lava.
Like, what does it need that for?
Just the dead pen where he replied with it's made a lava.
It's just.
It's true.
You would think that, you know, the normal physiological side of things wouldn't apply to something.
Yeah.
It's made of lava.
But apparently everything, is that a rule in 40K?
Everything's got to breathe.
Everything's got to breathe.
You rip the neck out.
You're good to go.
This thing's made of tentacles.
How do I fight it?
Find the neck and rip it out.
It's easy.
Come on.
Stop it from breathing.
So as Bjorn and the demon landed on the ground,
he would wait until the life left from its eyes.
Only then would he raise the bloody,
claw in the air and take off his helmet
revealing who he was.
Here you go, D.K. Have a
triumphant speech.
All right.
His living brothers howl with him.
They know that he will be coming back
to them now. They know what manner of
thing he has really killed.
He stands upon the smoking
corpses of the demon,
grinding his boots into its slump
shoulders. Only one name
remains to be declaimed.
The last member of the pact
the one who hunted through the sea of stars for vengeance,
the one they have called the lone wolf for too many years.
Bjorn.
Hell yeah.
Don, don, don.
Dun, da, dun.
Oh.
Bjorn, the fell-handed.
His hand fell.
On his neck.
They really should have called him Rogaldorn the fell handed.
Oh, too soon.
Too soon.
Isn't it too late?
No, it's too soon, man.
You're right, you're right.
We're about 40,000.
Oh, actually, that case.
30,000 and change years too soon.
Yeah, too soon, brother.
Too soon.
Oh, my God.
Funnily enough, Russ saw all of this happen and told him that his oath had been fulfilled.
I mean, you'd hope so, right?
You'd hope that the oath was fulfilled after that.
If Russ was like, ah, mid.
Could have been better.
Mid.
Just it.
I just ripped out the throat of a greater demon.
Yeah, yeah, that's down.
Very, very Immorten Joe, mediocre.
Now, this is where we have to do some housekeeping,
because there's one issue that comes to the surface
when it comes to someone who is as ancient as Bjorn.
You might be curious as to why this stories were mentioned first,
because it may or may not have happened before or after.
after some of the others.
Well, this is because it sets a good groundwork for the history of early Bjorn,
and that is conflicting stories and conflicting sources.
Classic, classic, Warhammer, classic 40K.
We love it.
Yeah, I was going to say classic, Chee-dub.
We can't pinpoint anything down,
so we're just going to make unreliable narrators and stories,
and you figure it out.
What do you mean?
There's eight different sources for five different bits of information.
It's fine.
It's fine.
just do what you like.
In other instances, you could view this as a bit of retconning or lack thereof,
but for an individual as long-lived as Bjorn,
it actually complements the mythos to some extent.
Like having multiple accounts of certain events
just expands upon the 10,000-year-old legend a bit more.
And that's why Possum thought we would have fun and talk about this stuff in that respect.
So there are three things with Bjorn that are subject to multiple sources,
some of which are more agreed upon than others.
The first is Bjorn's promotion into Russ's personal resume.
You've known it is...
Einheir?
Ein, yeah.
It's got ein in it, so it's definitely...
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's one of those.
It's tough.
All bloodsworn.
We're just going to say bloodsworn,
because there's less chance of people being annoyed about that.
The second is how he earns the title
of fell handed, and the third is how he lost his arm.
Now, this battle where he tore out Arvax's throat is one event that could serve as the basis
for two of these things.
There are many sources that believe that it was after the death of this demon that
Leman Rus promoted him into the blood sworn after telling him that his oath had been fulfilled.
And in some instances, this is also how Bjorn earned his title of fell handed, due to, you know,
the fell swoop that cut out the throat of this demon.
but this is something that is also contested
and there is plenty of thought that this title
was something he truly earned in the aftermath
of the judgment of Nike and in the conflict
that we all know as the burning of Prospero.
Now, the burning of Prospero,
that was in the aftermath of Nike.
Magnus attempted to FaceTime his dad
and this was widely considered to be a big fucky-wookie.
Yeah.
Thanks, Possum.
You made a grown man with a child's
say a big,
fucky,
wucky.
Are you proud of
yourself, Possum?
Possum,
he starts
sticking in
little other
bits and pieces
in there.
He still hasn't
told me if
Ian Watson was
part of the
furry convention.
I have beef
with
awesome right now.
He's probably
still researching
it, to be
fair.
There's got
be a lot of
stuff to go through
to get that
definitive
evidence that we
need.
Yeah.
Ricky's got him
in the research
minds
looking up some real
weird shit
after that Ian Watson
episode.
I just say,
tell me more
about the uses
of
Generative AI
POSM and
make it twice as cringe.
Mixer two.
Just generate a picture of Ian Watson.
No, don't do that.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
That's very funny, but don't do that.
No, no.
The idea of it is enough.
You don't need to go ahead and go through with the idea.
Okay.
So, yeah, Magnus, he tried to talk to the emperor.
It all went wrong.
So much so that the emperor had ordered Russ to go to
prosper and bring back Magnus for a time out.
We're going to gloss over a bunch of the burning so that we can focus on Bjorn, or according
to Horsa, bear.
Hence the pun for the name of the script, making it bearable, because Bjorn, the translation
for that was bear, but it wasn't.
Really notable space wolf and Horsey is like, oh yeah, he's the bear of the space wolves.
Really?
I mean, look, it made for a good plot point.
That's all that matters.
All right. Tell me more.
Maybe.
You see, since the time Horsa had come to join the ranks of the space walls,
he had never truly learned Bjorn's actual name.
The translation of his name in Logothic came out as bare,
and this mistake would be vital when it came to a conflict with a demon.
Specifically, the demon connected to Horses' mind.
The demon in question would manifest itself in the form of Horus
and would encounter Horsa.
Horsa enraged by the demon.
Men's mind tricks would attempt to fight it. Never a good idea, and he was swiftly overwhelmed.
He did call for help, and the wolves that would arrive would try their best to take it out.
One by one, however, they would fall. The demon, mind-linked with Horsa, knew the names of each and every
spacewolf that encountered it, and it used these true names to overpower them. This was a big thing
in that book. There was a hole there is powering a name. If I know your actual name and I say your
name, it'll really mess you up. That was a big part of it. So when it came to, when it came to
bear, the demon would shout bear at Bjorn, which he was most likely kind of confused by
before he ran forward and just did catastrophic damage to the demon.
That is a great image. Also, when you said Bjorn means bear, I was like, oh, I'm stupid. This
whole episode's like, why would you call him the bear?
It's because Bjorn literally means bear.
And I'm just, I'm just the dumbest
ass on the internet. And it's just, it's just staggering
how it gets, it just gets worse for,
oh, anyway, read the quote, Ricky.
I, I have not been like,
like, I don't think people realize that in, in,
in the education system, it's like maybe a month
on Viking culture and stuff like that for like
the entirety of grade school.
I don't know.
If even a month.
If even a month.
Like, I don't know anything about that.
I mean, they, they really want you to learn about World War II.
They really do.
They really do.
And how we were totally justified in everything we did.
Ah, yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway, the quote, unfortunately.
The quotes, um, bear had done terrible damage to the horace thing.
One arm was off.
The white gold.
armor was rent open in a dozen bloody places, and there was a grisly cleft through the side of
the Lupercal's head. The brain pan had split open. The white bone of skull fragments protruded.
Part of his cheek had torn away. The blood streaming out of him was forming a widening pool
around his feet. This just sounds like what the bear did to Leonardo DiCaprio and the revenant.
You know, I never saw the revenant.
it's good but like you know clear your evening because it's a lot of just a slow injured man walking through the forest
clear your evening folks it says yeah i think they put that on the poster didn't they that was one of
the one of the reviews they put up there um for the advertising i do like something that i really
like about that the whole thing of the demon using horses knowledge to defeat the space wolves in this
encounter is just the fact that things were going quite well for it until it just simply got the
name wrong and I just I love that. I love the idea of yelling someone's name in their face and in
response to this, them going, that's not my name and then absolutely beating the living shit out of
them. It's just, it's just very, very fun. So it's a really funny image actually. I'd yell my name's not
Rick at this, but that is a SpongeBob meme that is only known by some.
Oh, yeah, I was going to say, I have no idea what you're talking about, dude.
We're too old for that.
Me trying to pull from my droplet of Norse mythology and naming knowledge, while my
reservoir gallons of SpongeBob knowledge sits next to it.
Overflowing, begging to get out, yeah.
But it is really funny that he's just like, I've got you now.
Bjorn!
And nothing happened.
That's not my name.
It just heals him.
Yeah, proceeds to get absolutely fucking bodied.
Oh, that's great.
Now, the demon does fight back.
And to be fair, this is a powerful demon.
Also, that's horrors for full on, full on trolling potential is excellent.
Yeah, the demon does eventually get the upper hand.
and starts knocking blows back into Bjorn.
It would hit him with flames of chaos magic
that would wrap around his left hand
and slowly work their way up the arm.
Horsa, however, grabbed his axe from the floor
and without a moment's hesitation,
chopped Bjorn's arm off below the elbow,
preventing the spread of the fire and thus removing Bjorn's hand.
In the midst of all this, reinforcements made their way in,
dreadnoughts specifically.
But the demon just cackled,
and marked hoser.
Hadn't you learn that I know their names and can control them?
Well, good news for all involved,
because between the dreadnoughts were a dozen sisters of silence
led by Janisha Kroll herself.
That does help a lot, actually, yeah.
It's a big help.
Bad times for the demon.
The powers were completely negated,
and the dreadnoughts shredded it up with assault cannons
because, of course, they did.
I just love the idea of the demons
sitting there smirking thing
and it's got the day
and then it's just no, no, no.
And it just gets to rip to fucking shreds
by assault cannons.
Oh, oh, no.
I'm mortal now after seeing a bunch of bald women
walk in.
And then just gets turned into the opening of Robocop.
Yeah.
That one scene from Akira
where they got the spotlight on him
and he just gets unloaded on.
God.
Oh, no, I'm mortal now.
There's a bold woman in the room.
Me, me, when I met Jack from Mass Effect 2.
Oh, no, I'm mortal.
Fair.
I'll check that off on the bingo card, ladies and gentlemen.
We got a Mass Effect reference and an adric episode.
Hey, there we go.
Let's go.
So this encounter does have a big.
A bit of irony at the end of it, as the surviving wolves, including Fifth Godsmote, Bjorn and Horsa, would assess the situation.
Ego, D.K., just a little bit for you.
All right.
Drops of blood rain beaded bear's face.
I don't mind the arm, he grumbled.
Not when you consider.
Consider what, I asked.
It's supposed to be an honor, said Godsmote, nodding towards the dreadnought as it moved away.
but who wants to lose so much they end up like that.
There's, that's no way to live forever.
Bear nodded grimly.
Foreshadowing.
Foreshadowing is a literary device.
Post, post-implemented foreshadowing?
Is that a thing, given that the already knew who's an adrenaline?
I don't know.
Now, there is another version of how he lost his arm,
which is in the form of an older Horace heresy collective.
Vision's book.
And this one tells the story of how Bjorn was absolutely ripping through demons
like it was going out of style on Prospero.
His might and violence on the planet had earned in the title of The Fell Handed.
See, we got there.
And in the midst of all this carnage,
Bjorn would rip a sorcerer in half.
Ridiculous.
Well, both.
I mean, I was going to say, I can totally see it.
Yeah, he's a wolf.
If a bear thing.
Thanks.
Actually, I bet.
Yeah, sorry.
But yeah, if Bjorn got his hands on one of those sorcerers,
I could see him just snapping it like a twig.
He's definitely like the whole anti-demon thing going on, which is quite fun.
What's up with spacewalks and snapping things in half?
Demons, sorcerers, Magnus's back.
Yeah.
So true.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Is that too soon?
It's not feel like he might be too soon.
Nah, you know.
He was just trying to call that.
What's the Adrick meme?
Magnus did nothing wrong.
He was told to do nothing.
Did it wrong?
I started to turn on Magnus more so.
The more I read about Magnus, the more I feel like he's like a stupid person's idea of a smart person.
And he's starting to annoy me more.
Yeah.
I like the Thousand Suns too.
And even I'm like, God, Magnus was a prick.
So, yeah, Bjorn ripping through demons, tore a sorcerer in half, but as both parts of the body fell, psychic feedback was put through Bjorn, he hurled through the air and into a wall.
His ribs were splintered, his lungs were punctured, and he felt a screaming, burning pain in his arm.
I've just noticed there's a typo there.
He did not, in fact, feel a screaming burning pan in his arm.
That would be weird.
Purple fire would engulf him
and Constantine Valdor
stood shocked and disgusted
at the sight of it
so empathetic as we were just mentioning
Bricky here you go
Oh
Bjorn held out his arm and howled
Do it! Do it now!
Valdoer understood immediately
and with a sweep of his guardian spear
Choped Bjorn's arm from his body with one blow
The withered arm hissed in the rain as it dissolved
But even as Bjorned its loss
He knew Valdoor had sick
saved him.
Zombie bite looking a.
Yeah.
Boy, that hand sure did fell.
Fat fell.
Wait, is this the titular fell hand?
It's got to be right.
That's the point, right?
His hand has been felled.
I just realized that.
Is this the titular fell hand?
I mean, we've got two explanations for the titular fell hand now.
So you can take your pick as to which one you want.
Is it post horse a demon?
or is it post
Sorcerer doing some sort of weird feedback?
You can pick.
It's like you can't.
You can't.
But either way, he loses an arm,
which feels kind of mean.
Yeah, I guess I do think it would be as literal as I assumed.
Truly his hand fell.
So both of these stories account for the loss of his arm
and one has another branch about his title.
But what about the conflicting source of him joining Russie's.
ein highish or whatever
well we get a bit of an insight
into it in Wolfsbane but it's a bit more
ambiguous in that book it stated
that it was a bit of a mystery as to why
Bjorn was so often at the side of Russ
and honestly Russ was too sure either
but it states that this was because of a reading of the
runes after the battle of the
alexus nebula that Bjorn was
kind of a big deal in and thus
he was a member of the Bloodswan
What the hell did Russ
actually see in a bunch of rocks
though. The battle in question took place after the burning of Prospero in the midst of the
Space Wall's retreat. The Eam and his men had escaped to the Alaxus nebula but they were
tailed by the Alpha Legion. Russ had called out to the Khan for assistance but Horace beat him to the punch
stating that Russ just did a bit of treachery on Prospero and he needed to investigate it.
The conflict had been a difficult one due to the fact that Russ felt semi-defeated after the events
of Prospero. Russ had retreated to his private chambers to study his runes
while the rest of the wolves had to fight against the Alpha Legion.
And in the midst of this, Rus called for Bjorn to join him as he needed consultation over the runes.
As Russ studied the runes, three were face down and he picked them up to show Bjorn.
The first two were the serpent and the many-headed beast, which Bjorn assessed was a reference to the Alpha Legion.
The third was a run of the bear, or Bjorn.
Russ said it never fell face up.
Every time this run appeared, it would always be face down.
but why?
Have a quote.
There you go.
You are a part of it.
Every time I scry the path of the future,
I see you there on the edge,
and so I want you by my side when I remake this Legion.
I want you with me as we go deeper in.
Bjorn looked up at him,
and the vice around his heart did not ease.
This place hates us, he said.
It will crush us before the end.
The whole galaxy hates us,
said Russ, grinning with an edge of abandon,
always has.
If we wish to live, we must spite it a little further.
I hate that the internet has corrupted my mind
that when I saw the whole galaxy hates us,
always has, all I saw was the spaceman meme.
With the gun pointed to the back of his head.
Oh, that's a single,
off a single like two word, two words phrase.
Yep, galaxy hates us, always has.
You know what, that's fine.
Anytime anyone ever says something, something among us, I go, like, I whip my head around so quickly.
It gives me my pain.
Got a whiplash, brother.
My nine-year-old keeps drawing pictures of the characters from Among Us.
And when I asked what it was, she went, that's Amogas.
I was like, how do you know about that?
And she went, dude, everyone knows about that.
And I'm like, you're nine.
Do you know what it's from?
And she went, no.
I'm like, well, where did you get it?
Just like, my friends all say it.
I'm like, where did you?
Did they get it?
And she goes, I don't know.
I asked them, and they're not sure where it came from.
And now I'm just thinking that it's broken containment.
It's just become some sort of like, some sort of insane cultural reference that there's
spread to people that don't have any knowledge of where it originated.
Also, did you know that the cool S is still around?
That's still a thing.
It better be.
That's the greatest thing ever.
The Volcan S better still be around.
Yeah.
It's still around.
My seven-year-old draws it all the time.
And I'm like, that feels like it shouldn't be still be a thing.
That's, that's weirdly, how is that staying?
The staying power is insane off that.
Because it's the cool S, Keriath.
Also, uh, your nine year old shares a lot of similarities with myself.
I too randomly draw Mugus in places.
Yeah, that doesn't surprise me.
No, I really shouldn't.
That one is very on brand.
Nine year old doing it kind of.
Weird.
Bricky doing it.
Yeah, that tracks.
Listen, I'm an easily, I'm an easily entertained individual.
It's not a bad thing.
After the conclusion of the Battle of the Alexis Nebula,
Russ would bring Bjorn back with him to Fenris as Russ would journey to the
underverse through Surtr's door.
Which, I'll be honest, that bit spun me when I first read it.
And I haven't had chance to do a bit of research on this because I'm not familiar with that section.
But it's straight up just, here's some Norse mythology, I feel like.
It's not even 40K by that point.
It's just straight up like, yeah.
I hate that.
I'm like, oh, yeah, I know.
Sertr that's, isn't that like the Norse fire god or something?
And I was like, uh-oh.
Am I thinking of like, am I thinking of that Thor movie again and conflating that with actual
Norse mythology
Oh
Yeah, you absolutely are
Okay, just making sure
So I thought
It's not necessarily
Like a mythology thing
But the character
Serta is just a different spelling
of a Jotan
from like Norse mythology
So there's a whole lot of like
Cross contamination going on with it
I thought Surtur is the fire giant
Is he not?
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, he's the fire giant.
Yeah.
Oh, well, good for me.
I was right.
Let's go.
I'm pretty sure he's the one who brings upon Ragnarok, does he not?
Yep.
As Lehman Russ left Bjorn and the accompaniment of Rune Priest behind,
Russ would tell Bjorn to stand firm and to not turn around until he returned.
No matter the circumstance, he was not to turn around.
Bjorn stood and awaited the return of the Primark, and as he did,
the Rune Priest would be picked off one by one by demons.
Bjorn would not flinch and he would not move.
He stood firm even as the voice of Russ told him to turn around.
He would not be tempted and he would not move.
Even as the demon posing as Russ would rise up with a weapon to kill Bjorn, he stood still.
Before the demon could do so, Russ finally returned and destroyed the entity that attempted Bjorn with the spear of Russ.
After this, the battle of Trisoleon would take place and this would result in Russ finally.
facing Horus directly. The conflict was one that was knowingly hopeless. The ritual on Fenris
to get the truth of the spear would make it clear to Russ that the best he could do was hurt Horus.
His wolves would follow him no matter what, and the move would be made on the Trizoleon system.
It went just about as well as you probably remember. Russ managed to stab Horace and see him
as he was before corruption, but Horace was not swayed and dealt an incredible blow to Russ
nearly killing him.
While Russ was swatting off various walls that were now charging him,
Captain Grimeneer Blackblood called for a retreat,
and it was Bjorn that would personally drag the absolutely brutalized Lehman Rus
back to their stormbird so that they could escape the vengeful spirit.
God, that artwork goes so hard.
God, yeah, that's solid. That's good stuff.
I'm sure I've seen it before, but still, like, gosh, that's so dope.
I do like the fact that it was made clear to,
Rust and it was like, all you can do is hurt him. That's it. And he's still like,
sounds good, let's go. Yeah. Side by side with Russ very much became Bjorn's thing for the
duration of the heresy and even acting in his stead at times. Upon the wolf's arrival in
Yarrant 3, Russ was comatose and they were besieged by a combined slew of traitor legions
led by Abidon. At this time, Corvus Korax was convinced that the best thing the Ravenguard could do
after their many losses in the drop site massacre
would be to serve as a hit and run
force against Horus.
The pre-factor of the Therian cohort
Marcus Valerius had visions.
Visions of Lehman Rus dying.
He decided to tell Korax about these divine visions
and that set him off badly,
particularly due to the fact that Valerius was also
in the I Worship the Emperor as a God stage
of his military career
and also because visions have been a bit of a heel
for Korax for quite some time now.
Corax would debate about this in isolation
and would ultimately opt
to not himself
insert
Moe looking at the noose and saying
not today old friend
wow
I love that meme actually
Thank you thank you
a Simpsons meme I'm very happy about
And instead
Corse
Corrish
Corvus decided to
follow the visions of Valerius and assist
the wolves.
When the birds arrived in the system,
Corax would meet up with Bjorn as he was leading the forces of the space wolves
while Russ was Peter Griffin death posing.
Korax would see Ross,
and speak to his unconscious brother candidly about the state of the galaxy.
I'll be honest, I haven't read whichever book this is in,
but I'm assuming most of that conversation is really fucked up.
It's not going well.
Don't really know what to do.
Please wake up, because I'm feeling really sad.
I'm assuming that's how that conversation went.
verbatim, yeah, I'm sure it was.
Forbathom, that's exactly what it was.
It was all the normal heavy-hitting topics
that the emperor shouldn't have made them,
that this was really bad stuff,
and that the space walls were at the risk of going extinct.
So I wasn't far off then.
I was pretty close.
I said he started singing my immortal.
Jesus Christ.
All right.
Cool.
Corax would turn to face the space walls and state that it would likely be best for them to escape here and regroup on terror so that their lines could be saved.
The walls are like, are you joking?
And Bjorn made it clear that there was a debt to be paid, a wear geld, and that they were to fight until the very end.
ever one for the dramatic,
Russ would briefly wake up and ask if they were here to fight
or if they were here to die
before handing Bjorn the spear of Russ
telling him that he could keep it.
Bjorn would yell that the wolf time was upon them
and it was time for their last stand.
I'm sorry, did you say Bjorn said the wolf time is upon us?
Is it?
It's wolfen time is essentially what he did?
This is okay.
I was angrily yelled at by people
about not knowing what the wolf time was.
because no, it is not Ragnarok,
even though it is kind of Ragnarok,
but it's different than Ragnarok,
and that's very important.
Uggy.
Whatever you say.
The wolf time is like,
it's a whole thing.
It's like,
this is the end of the space wolves
because we're going to fight a glorious battle or whatever,
but it's also become this is when Lehman Rus comes back,
but then there's been multiple situations
where you'd think this was the wolf time,
but then he hasn't come back,
but then maybe he should have come back
because everything's going wrong.
It's very nebulous.
It's a very nebulous thing.
It's basically like,
here's an apocalyptic fight,
let's go.
Right, cool.
It's 40K, so there's a lot of them.
You know?
There's quite a lot of apocalyptic fights
when you look at it.
I mean, yeah, I guess in the history of 40K,
there's a lot of potential
apocalypses that happen.
Yeah, sure, sure.
But it's wolf in time.
It is not wolfen time.
It's wolf in OV.
I'm wolfen ov.
It's not a
it's not a morbid situation.
It's the wolf time.
It's fine.
It's been established for ages.
Okay.
Glad we got that cleared up.
And just as a final note for that section,
always sunny title card,
the gang survives another last stand.
As also
as also happens a lot
in 40K. It's the apocalypse.
Nah, we're good.
Or everyone dies except for the
important name character. Yeah, because
someone has to tell the story. Yeah.
So as the heresy wrapped up,
Bjorn would act as the emissary of
Russ, working to make Dawn's crusade
plan come to life. Eventually, in
211M31,
Ross would have his final great feast with his men before vanishing into the eye of terror.
He would take all the members of his Wolfguard except for one, our boy Bjorn.
Though overwhelmed with a sense of rejection and loss, it is believed by many skills that
Bjorn's prior experience with this grief is the very reason why Russ opted to leave him behind.
He was able to overcome the terrible loss of his men at the hands of Arvax,
who was able to unite his brothers whilst Russ was comatose.
If there was one man who could bear the brunt of his Jean-father's departure,
It was beyond the fell handed.
And because of this, he would become the first great wolf.
Honestly, he's earned it at this point.
What a life.
Yeah.
So Russ just left him behind because, ah, you've suffered tragedy before.
You get it.
You'll be fine.
Just, you know.
Pretty much.
Just like, don't be sad.
You know how to do that, right?
And it's like, oh, yeah, sure, dad.
Thanks.
Oh, the prime arcs being great dads for 10,000 years.
Unfortunately, Bjorn's stint as Great Wolf would be very short-lived.
Well, at least in 40K standards.
In 934M31, Bjorn would lead a successful raid during the Proxima Rebellion.
He would free-captured battle brothers that were trapped in the Dred Sun Fortress,
great name, but he suffered greatly.
His body was shattered, his injuries grave.
In order to survive, he had to be placed into a...
a dreadnought. There's that foreshadowing that we talked about earlier. He knew that this would
prevent him from fulfilling his great wolf duty. He would abdicate the position and he would enter
the dreadnought. But his will to fight for the chapter would stand strong regardless of his new
iron body. He would stay at the front of virtually every major conflict for the next 500 years.
I mean, that's fair, especially in a dreadnought. It's a lot easier to be at the front lines when you're
in turn in a
in dreadnought
but you also
supposed to
go to sleep for a bit
like dreadnoughts
are supposed to power down
and only be used
really when you don't
I say when you don't have
much of a choice
they're like
they're a resource
that you have to use
sparingly because the longer
you're in a dreadnought
the worst the effects
of being interred
and a dreadnort become
so
that details
fucking
Bjorn brother
it's wolfen time
Go over it, Bjorn, you've got this.
Wake up again.
What do you mean you haven't been to sleep for a century?
Get on with it, it's fine.
Hell yeah, let's go.
Shaias, is that even true?
I think there are chaptermasters who are dreadnots.
Are there?
I'm positive.
There's so many chapters.
That's true.
Yeah, so many chapters.
I'm sure one of them is.
I can't think of one right now off the top of my head.
Yeah.
I think, I think, uh, what's the name of the, the, the forge world, um, space marine chapter, uh, red scorpions.
I think they've got a, they've got a, uh, release they had a dreadful chapter.
Is that the, it's that the eugenics chapter?
Oh, no.
Deghan was a venerable dreadnought as well as the chapter master of the bloodsword space marines.
Oh, yeah.
Huh. I mean, yeah, yes, they are. Sorry, to answer the question. Yes, Red Scorpions are the Eugenics ones. I think it's like not, when I say it's not common. There's a slight issue with it because you're supposed to shut them down for a bit. They're supposed to be not awake the whole time when you're a Dreadnought because it can really, it can really mess you up.
like not following, and that happened with Bjorn,
so not following the general waking, sleeping cycles of the dreadnought
can mess up your sleeping patterns,
and it would result in his stasis periods becoming longer and longer.
So you can sort of, I mean, I guess for the first 500 years,
he was just raw dog in it, raw-bearing it?
I don't know.
Damn, Bjorn known for raw-dogging in his dreadnought, eh?
All right, all right.
It's raw dog in being a dreadnought.
But it's not healthy long,
term. So you kind of end up having negative side effects and stuff. I imagine that gets even
worse with Redemptors because those burn the space marine out. Leviathines and Redemptors are both
bad for burning out the people who are interred in them. So if you keep them wait for too long,
it's bad times for them. Pretty sure I remember the worst times using those batteries or
whatever. What exactly are the side effects of being in it too long? Like, do you lose your
mind more like death oh you just die okay what are we referring reddencher you just actually die
are we referring to the red not or the box not both i'm kind of curious what what the side
effects of both are like you just eventually just fizzle out and die and just or do you like go
crazy a little bit and then or you know so redemptor you get burnt out you're you kind of like a bit of
a battery for the for the dreadnought in some ways so you you get to die a second time in a way
and then that's that one's permanent like you don't if you're like once you've been awake in it
for a certain amount of time like it can vary from space marine to space marine I think but eventually
you've had it you just die in the sarcophagus then you're your your uh what's left
if you gets pulled out and then you get replaced with someone else um with so it's not like a
slow sort of spiral where you just like kind of go crazy, lose your mind and become like, you know,
um, inconsolable and crazy. You just, you literally just burn out like a fucking used battery.
For redemptors, yes, for box nauts, you start to lose lucidity and like your place in time to some extent.
I'm not, I, I'm going to regret saying this out loud. I am 99% sure that I've read at least one story where there's a dreadnought that is not entirely sure where,
he is because he's been a dreadnought for so long.
So, like, the lucidity isn't there.
Like, there's memories of previous battles or previous brothers and the space marines
interacting with it are not like, they're talking to it normally, but they're kind of
having to accept that the name is being used are wrong.
I wish I could remember where I read this.
That makes sense.
That would make it more credible, but I'm 99% sure that it's a,
case of, you know, if they're awake for a certain amount of time, if they're awake for too long
in certain cycles, if they don't get the stasis as often as they need it, they end up kind of
just losing their grip on reality to some extent. Yeah, because you've been alive and awake
for so long. It's just, yeah. Okay, cool. I think even space marines are not meant to be going
for, like, I mean, Dante being around for like 4,000 years is insane. I think most space marines,
they are not equipped for it.
Like mentally, there's just, it's too much weight of experience, right?
Too many memories.
Too much stuff has happened.
And so eventually they start to, too much trauma.
Yeah, they start to kind of lose their grip on when slash where they are.
They lose grip on reality, yeah.
Pretty much.
So, Bjorn being around for like 10,000 years.
And a good chunk of that isn't a dreadnought.
and he's still pretty with it,
that's impressive.
That's solid.
Well, he takes rest cycles, right?
He has him in raw-dogging it for 10,000 years.
No, no, just the first 500.
He was just raw-dogging it,
but he's been a lot more asleep for a lot more time.
So we're going to jump forward, right,
to the Battle of the Fang,
which is a conflict that's been discussed before
due to Bjorn's actions during it.
As we know, Magnus really likes to
whole grudges. That's his thing, really. The Burning of Prospero really rustled his jimmies,
and he decided what a way to phrase that. And he decided it was time to prevent the space
wolves from making any more of themselves. We did shit on Magnus for a while now, but I think I got
to sigh with him on that one with the whole Burning of Prospero thing. Oh yeah, you can understand,
you can understand him being annoyed about that. Didn't he sort of reside himself to that fate? Like,
he could have like contacted someone but he was like oh let me put up the barrier on prospero
because i deserve this shit there's a there's a lot of moving parts i yeah there's a lot of
moving parts i don't want to get into we should probably rebering a prospero yeah we probably
i wholeheartedly recommend it it's an excellent book you should absolutely read it it's very
good um so yeah magnus waited for fenris to be almost empty before launching a full attack he knew
that the only defence there would be one great company and a bunch of serfs. However,
he did not consider the gravity of one very angry robot also being on the planet.
Bjorn was awoken and he was immediately pissed off about the whole situation.
What do you mean no one's on Fenris? What do you mean you sent a whole bunch of men on one
mission? Why did nobody wake me up to tell me about this? After venting about this
verbally and physically, Bjorn assessed the situation and helped when it came to the defence.
Having a very angry dreadnought is very useful when a bunch of cataphractic bots arrive.
Magnus would attempt to fully aura farm and manifest himself on the fang.
The rune priest would sense this, but so would Bjorn.
And the audacity that Magnus had stepped foot on the planet was something that deeply enraged Bjorn.
He wasn't able to stop his initial arrival, but he wasn't going to let him move any further.
Now, we've learned before that the biggest weakness a spellcaster like Magnus,
has is just brute force.
If you're playing against someone in Magic the Gathering,
the fastest way to win is to bring a baseball bat.
Jesus.
There's a really good,
a small tangent,
but I'll make it quick.
There's a really good,
like,
I think day nine video,
which I think,
if I'm remembering it right,
yeah,
it's a little small rant,
which is a set called just fucking kill them.
and it's normally about StarCraft where it's a lot like hey well you're doing Starcraft you're doing this thing you're playing this thing you're like trying to go against this other build or whatever and like this is the most optimal build but this is the most optimal blah blah whatever and then sometimes the answer is like are they doing some weird shit okay swing you know I felt that way in magic a lot where I'm like you know this person is trying to build up for this fancy thing I'm like well you know what I don't know why I should let them do that and then I just like tap all my creatures and I'm like just
kill them.
Just die.
Take 30 damage,
Dick Wad,
like,
I don't care.
You can't set it up
that you're dead.
Yeah.
So,
like,
it's just one of those things
like,
you know,
sometimes you just,
you just gotta kill them.
True,
true.
Wow,
man,
the philosopher over here.
But yeah,
make sense.
Well,
funnily enough,
uh,
Bjorn had exactly the same attitude,
uh,
because before Magnus was
able to unleash his
witch fire, Bjorn would sidest wipe him with a plasma blast that would knock Magnus across the
anger and slam him through a Thunderhawk. Bjorn would yell, you know nothing of anger, traitor,
this is anger, this is hate, before unleashing absolute hell on the downed primark. The damage done
was quite literally tearing the Thunderhawk apart along with Magnus. The Prometheum
tanks would detonate around him and he would be knocked further back
But Bjorn did not stop.
When Magnus emerged, skin hung from the bone across his body.
His gold mantle was black.
His armor was scorched and destroyed.
His hair was burnt off.
And all that remained was a skull with tattered flesh.
His body was torn apart so much that you could see the magic coursing through his veins.
I mean, that is a...
Damn, Bjorn.
What an effort.
Jesus Christ.
He pushed him through a Thunderhawk, exploded the tides.
and just burned Magnus alive.
He is unrecognizable.
He's just, the skin is off his bones, brother.
Like, what the, that's a primark.
Isn't this not like the first time he's done this to?
What, to Magnus or a Primar?
No, no, not specifically Magnus.
Doesn't he like, doesn't he like shoulder check him off a cliff later as well?
Holy shit.
Does he really?
Funnily enough, that is coming up.
Yes.
All right.
Yeah, Bjorn goes absolutely, he just goes apes shit.
I love that who would win a boxnaut or Magnus the Red, Demon Primark.
It turns out the angry Box Knot wins.
Yeah, every time.
So Magnus would begin to club back at him with the last of his strength,
described as fighting like a bar room.
brawler, they would exchange blows back and forth, and Bjorn's systems would begin to fail.
It was in this moment that Magnus would recognise him as being on Prospero. He sensed Bjorn's
sole pattern. Bjorn couldn't reply to Magnus as his systems were destroyed, but overwhelmed
by both the hellish barrage and tearing of his armour by Magnus, he lost the use of his arms.
But he would continue to fight back, with Bjorn opting to fight back. With Bjorn opting to
physically ram him with his body in an attempt to knock him off the ledge.
Here's your shoulder tackle.
What a legend.
Before any further damage could be done,
the great wolf Harrick Iron Helm would intervene preventing his destruction.
His dreadnought suit was claimed and he was able to be placed in stasis yet again.
I love that for a moment there,
Bjorn became the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grah.
And the Holy Grail.
Yeah, no, the Holy Grail.
Yeah, Holy Grail.
Yeah.
Just.
Scratch.
No arms.
And he's just slamming into him with his face.
Get off the edge.
Get off.
Leave.
Go.
I'm actually kind of surprised Magnus put up that much of a fight after getting absolutely
obliterated.
Like that description of it, it was like he was just hanging on for dear life.
Like his skin on his fucking flesh.
It's just, I'm surprised he could fight back a dress.
not and rip his arms off and still like, that's crazy.
I think, I think Magnus was, was fueled by shame there.
I don't think he's even angry.
He was like, I cannot, I've already had my spine broken by one space wolf.
I am not getting bodied, like absolutely obliterated by a half dead thousand year old guy in a box
nor. It's not happening. I refuse. I'm going to
survive this because I will never live it down.
True. He is a demon prince shy, but like just that
description of it made it seem like he was just like,
he had one foot in the grave already. Because like all of
his skin was just burned off. His armor was ruined. His hair is burned off.
And he is just like, just this slobbering, like, burnt flesh
beast. It's just, God.
Deserved.
Yeah.
So another notable awakening occurred in the tail end of the months of shame,
specifically after the Inquisition decided to go out to Fenris itself.
Grimna was a bit hot-headed during this one, if you remember.
Jump cut to the thumbnail from the Grimnaw video.
But when Bjorn was awoken...
Sorry, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Murdering a fucking Greymaster, Grey Knights, yeah, don't worry about it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He was, look, he was a little bit annoyed, okay?
Sometimes it happens.
You just got to move on.
When Bjorn was awoken, he was a lot more level-headed.
When the Inquisitors, they kept saying, he's real, don't you see?
And Bjorn was very much like, of course I am.
He got irritated when they kept kneeling.
And Inquisitor Kaznoros stated that they were representative of the god emperor,
to which Bjorn said, calling him a god was how this mess started.
Yep.
Based.
I remember that part.
So good.
You know what?
I really love Bjorn.
I still love him.
I love him more now.
So he would help clean up the mess after, you know,
Grimnar killed said Inquisitor.
Bjorn would negotiate the end of it and tell Grimna to chill the fuck out while he did it.
His only request, besides telling the Inquisition to fuck off,
was to speak with a member of the Grey Knights on Fenris itself.
The wolves were never going to be skis.
scoured of this memory. There should be no more secrets and as the wolves would know of the
grey knights, it would be best to learn the truth of their order. So prior to his internment in the
Dreadnought, Bjorn was a large man. He had braided black hair, a big old beard and was very
irritable. But the irritability was mostly an out which, I don't know, it just sounds like
someone's uncle. I mean, when you think of a space wall, like angry uncle is right up
there.
Beyond the space, Uncle.
I don't know why, just the way
you said it, like very, like, you know,
braided black beard and was quick to
anger. I'm like, yeah, all right.
This is Uncle Bjorn.
But once you got to
know him, Bjorn was a very loyal and
dedicated man. His dreadnought
is a technical marvel and its movement
speed and abilities are shockingly spry
considering the sheer bulk of it.
It's a highly decorated
of Dreadnall armor, something that Bjorn doesn't actually like, which feels mean.
Let, if he wants playing, let him have played.
He's 10,000 years old.
For fuck's sake.
Like, you know.
He's making his dread not the way he wants it to look, for God's sake.
It's the least you could do for Bjorn the fucking fell handed.
He's in this eternal metal prison, at least having, have it decorated how he wants it.
God, damn.
I can't have shit on Fenris.
He has a plasma cannon, but he has also kept his fell hand even in death.
Worth pointing out as well that, like, he also assault cannon equipped, too.
So there's a bit of, like, weapon shifting here and there.
I believe the model had assault cannon rather than plasma cannon, but when he fought Magnus, it was all plasma all the time.
Yeah, I just always remember the sort of, like, I.
claw looking things on his
fell hand. Yeah.
It's solid.
That is known as true claw.
Hell yeah.
It's correct.
You would be correct.
You would be correct.
That is in fact a true claw.
Hell yeah, it is.
Of all the claws I've seen.
So it's stylized after the claw he had
before his entry into the dreadnought.
Due to the fact that Bjorn is over 10,000 years old,
it's believed that his personal kill count
is higher than the kill count of entire chapters.
I mean, 10,000 years worth a killing
as one of the fiercest space wolves.
Yeah, that tracks.
He's got the time advantage, right?
You know?
Yeah.
He's had hours to put into this,
and I would be shocked if it wasn't a case of,
Oh, how many people has he killed?
We, look, we lost count.
I like how you said he's got hours in that as if, oh, it's just a day at the park or something and not 10,000 years.
By playing Total Warhammer 3.
He's got hours in that game.
Golly.
Sorry, sorry, Total War Warhammer 3.
I do that a lot.
I still think they should have just rebranded their entire game series to call it Total Warhammer.
I agree.
I'm sorry.
Total War War War.
hammer is a mouthful to say you should have just called it total war hammer but anyway that's
neither here nor there go on carry out due to the nature of his stasis cycle bjorn is awoken in a less
frequent sense now mostly in situations of greatest need in a physical sense or in a wisdom sense
but at the dawn of each century biorne is woken up to celebrate with his fellow brothers at the great
feast the further they removed from the disappearance of russ the fewer connections the space
walls have to their heritage, and Bjorn exists as the firmest link to that past.
The saga of his own life is a living reminder of the real connection they all have to Russ,
and Bjorn is revered as much as their primark because of this.
But at his core, he still feels a great sense of loss and resentment.
He feels a bit abandoned by his prime mark, and as time goes on, the weight of this sensation
feels a bit heavier.
Bjorn knows the weight of his duty, though, and he knows that he needs to
to keep a strong face for the chapter.
Many times in his life, before his internment,
Bjorn thought that he was facing the wolf time,
but 10,000 years on,
his chapter still stands,
and he stands alongside it.
But even in his stasis,
Bjorn watches over the space wolves,
standing ever vigilant over the fang,
always with a desire to defend his brothers
and continue the fight.
And to finish the episode,
it's a little bit of a longer one,
but here's a quote that,
really sums up Bjorn as a character.
Is this, uh, me this time or?
It is.
Okay.
At war in the world beneath sleep above death, the struggle eternal.
10,000 years now fighting from plane to blame in unending march.
I tarry until you come again, father.
The loss of the body is no loss of self.
The agility of youth forgotten in the great Hulk that fights in the kingdom above sleep.
here in the land between there is speed again the fury of spirit matched to the echo of form the echo of a sarcophagus a coffin of false death and infinite war all echoes here shadows of form and thought cast by the weight of things in the other realm the one above sleep the roots run deep the war runs deeper so long without surcease but what need for
rest here in the kingdom beneath.
None. Only battle.
On the echo ramparts of the echo fortress,
fighting an enemy who are not echoes,
whose flesh is the stuff of echoes.
I must wake.
I must speak to my brothers.
Cool.
Cercest, ending.
Ending.
Ending.
An ending or cessation.
Okay.
Okay.
Hell yeah.
What a quote to end on.
Godly.
This is why reading like a fifth.
physical book is important because then you can you can look at all these cool words you don't
really know how to say or just see you're like oh neat yeah it's one of the nice things about
when I started reading 40K books on the Kindle if there was like a big long word I was like
what the fuck is that you can literally just press and hold the word and it brings up like a wiki
page for it that actually is cool I'm still a paper fan if I can but I get what you mean
those are neat well you know that's beyond
Guys are legend.
He really is.
I do enjoy his like, I'm old and tired of this shit kind of feeling he has.
It's very strong.
Yeah.
And owned, honestly.
Very earned as well.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I'd say that for the most part, just having that level of like, oh my God, I'm so
sipping this, you know, it's pretty fun.
Not only is he sick of it, he's got to worry about everybody bowing to him when he wakes
up to like, guys, we've been over this.
Stop doing that.
And then they're all like, oh, thank the God emperor
and he's just like, hmm.
It's like every time there's a party, he's like, can you pour another one of those
beers in my amniotic fluid so I can get over this shit?
And you know, I do wonder if Bjorn can get drunk.
I feel like they would just pour meat in his, uh, in his containment stuff
off against or something.
Yeah.
It feels harsh waking up for the great feast once a century.
if he has to just stand there and watch everyone else enjoy things that he no longer can.
Like, that feels more like torment than an actual nice thing to do.
But if he's got, if he's got like a beer hole, where it's just like,
a beer hole.
Unplug it.
I don't know.
Beer down there.
He can get wasted as well.
Then that's totally fine.
That's, that's good.
He's got a big old chicken legs swimming around him.
He's like, this tastes great.
It's just really marinating me in the, anyway.
it's pretty cool that he's like fucking hell it's been the end of the world like 50 times now
well it's not been the end of the world because he was awoken and he fights in it and
bjorn as we've figured out this episode pretty fucking cool he's pretty so cool
still really need a model update 100% please for the love of god he's such a cool
box though
yeah keep the box
just upscale it
yeah
give him like a chunky
like surely
look we've got
we've got call now
call can
produce grab out of his
ass and new versions
of bolt weapons
and all sorts of shit
just just give us
just give us
but with a box
naught that is the size
of a redemptor
and I will start
a space wars army
I was already tempted
anyway
I would do it
Oh yeah, I mean
Just
Oh God, make him the size of a saturnine
A box nought the size of a saturnine dreadnought
Hell yeah
That's just an actual brick
Yeah
I'd be okay with the
I like the Leviathan dreadnought
I don't like the contemptor
Or the redemptor
Saturnine is goofy, weird
And I do like that
You don't like the contemptor
Not really
Oh that's a take
I'm not a fan of
I'm sorry
Really?
He just, I don't know.
I love the egg.
I don't know.
I think I'm not a huge fan of the egg.
Maybe it's the paint job on it too, like the bright yellow and that picture is just like not doing it for me.
No, I prefer the other two.
This is an issue.
This is a problem.
Like my top three are Leviathan Contemptor and then admittedly, redemptor, but Box North is tied.
It's a bit of a cheat, but I love both, but for different reasons.
But Contemptor is a great.
The other two I really, really like, though.
Does that help?
You may have your opinion.
I guess maybe I'm a little salty that I bought myself a night lord's contemptor dreadnought,
which was then, which was then legends.
Well, here's the moral of the story.
Me not liking the contemptor has no impact on how much you like it.
Yeah, but it affects how I see you as a person.
Wow!
Thanks, Kira.
I couldn't even, I started laughing before you get into the sentence.
End the fucking episode.
Yeah, we're going to get out of here.
All right, D.K., get shoulder checked off a cliff by Bjorn.
See you.
