Welcome everyone to another episode of the Adeptist Ridiculous podcast.
My name is D.K. Diamante is accompanied as always by Bricky, but this time, oh, we've got a special guest.
It's Hal the Amber King.
Hello, Hal.
Hey, we're back, baby.
Back baby.
Hey, wait, you sound like you're smiling, Hal.
Knock that smile.
I'm in the depths of absolute delirium.
The Inquisition is at my door.
No, no, no, no.
We're talking about the dude who can't smile.
You've got to put that away.
Okay.
Okay.
Let's lock in.
Wait, he's the dude who can't smile?
A bit too serious.
How dare you smile?
I like Warham.
I'm always having a good time.
We get paid to.
It's a grim, dark setting.
Hal, no smiling.
It's great.
I love Warhammer.
It's great.
Are you getting any custodies?
I am not.
I'm a filthy Thousand Sun's player still, but now I've decided to.
Let's go, Hal.
We love to hear it
Thousands of us let's go
Yeah we got destroyed in the last slate
Thanks GW
Thank you
That's okay I don't play the tabletop
I just think they look neat
You kind of deserved it a little bit
Oh
True
True
But it still hurts
It does hurt
Yeah
Dude the news stodies
I feel so
I feel so vindicated
I'm like
I'm gonna buy these custodies
For our painting project
Because they look amazing and awesome
And then
and then I get them
and I'm like
oh they're like really good
and their rules are awesome
I'm such a winner
Hey it man
Yeah
it feels like
Wait sisters of battle
Got leaked for Dark Tide DLC
Did it?
Ooh
Wait hold on
That's more than just a sister of battle
That's a sister novitiate
That makes sense
Yeah
People are definitely guessed at this though
People are definitely
Guessed at this
Because it makes sense
I mean
Where else are you gonna go
As far as like
Dark Tide is concerned
Right like you got your Skittari
which I was happily surprised that we got that.
So yeah, sisters, yeah, you know.
I wasn't sure we were going to get sisters
because we're getting awful close to like,
oh, hey, look, we put in a minor space marine.
But I guess not really.
Like, sisters is fine, right?
For Dark Tide.
That will be awesome to play, I think.
Yeah.
That's so cool because they are awesome, so.
Looking forward to it.
Yeah.
If the Skittari are not off bounds,
then surely sisters are fine.
I mean, I guess my only thing is like,
we kind of had a sister already.
It was the zealot, you know?
Oh, yeah, kind of.
And so it was like, it was almost a little bit of like,
well, we sort of already had like there, you know,
because obviously a zealots different than a sister,
but like they clearly were like,
hey, we don't have a sister,
so the zealots as close as you're going to get, you know?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Which, but like, I don't know.
I'm okay with a sister being shy.
I know you're talking about like the boots on,
a ground trooper type thing.
But that looks like a novitiate.
And a sister novitiate is like a sister in training.
And so I'm kind of okay with that because they don't have normal power armor.
And also if you have a Scatari, that's already kind of like above the level of.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I'm all right with this.
Once this Katari became available, it was like, well, then yeah, like a sister in training is not completely unheard of.
Right.
Or even just like a sister period is kind of.
It is power.
creeping, you're not wrong.
It is power creeping.
I just still like it.
If we get a space marine, yes, if we get a space marine, yes, if we get a space marine scout, then I'll agree with you.
If we get a space marine scout, then I'll agree with you.
I mean, it's like four people versus like a thousand guys.
It's already like a delusional power fantasy anyway, surely.
It is a little goofy.
That these rejects are actually able to do what they're doing is kind of crazy.
Yeah, but yeah, but whatever.
Abelard and the Thunderhammer kills God in Rogue Traders.
So fucking whatever.
Yeah, true.
True enough, yeah.
My husband.
Abelard, cut off their air.
Abelard restricts their breathing with your penis.
Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Oh, my.
Gorse.
Well, well, speaking of my penis.
being erect.

One could say that if you're out there buying the merchandise at Orchidate.com, you could be just as bricked up.
Oh.
It's good merch.
Am I muted?
Am I muted?
No.
No, no.
Sorry, sorry, we're bricked up.
Yes, yes, Overlord.
Absolutely rock hard.
I can't stand out.
Yes, Overlord.
Yes, Overlord.
Actually, speaking of Overlord, how?
Did you end up doing the Wigin' In the Warp?
Did you finally read it?
You son of a bitch?
Yep.
Finished.
Consumed.
Loved it.
Big, big reveals there.
Huh?
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
I'm waiting for the episode.
Yeah, I think you guys are doing a,
maybe you'll talk about it at some point
but we're doing an episode yeah we're going to do
it episode okay which will be uh
I would argue better than the first one
I enjoyed the first one a lot
I enjoyed the second one just a little bit more
really good I'm I'm on the opposite
I think I enjoyed it a little less
how I think it's not quite as tight
the ending I also don't think is as good
as Infinite Divining because the Infinite Divide ending is
absolute well yeah it's hard to talk
but it is still very good
We're talking like 8.5 out of like instead of a nine type thing.
Like we're right there.
So great stuff, great stuff.
Uh, Robert Rath continues to be one of the best modern GW novelists.
Marry into my bloodline, Robert.
Please.
This is this talent cannot be wasted.
Oh, man.
Did you say marry into my bloodline brother?
That's a wild statement.
I marriage.
All right.
Well, speaking of boners, let's talk about Eisenhorn.
Hmm.
What the hell was that?
That was a hell of a segue, brother.
Sorry, I've been having a lot of zinc lately, my bad.
Let's continue.
Yes.
Today is episode three.
We're talking of, well, we're finishing up the trilogy, the main trilogy.
We're talking about Hereticus.
This is the end, well, I guess, kind of like,
the main arc of Eisenhorn's
story and then
he doesn't really like because all the
Eisenhorn novels are like
in his head they're like first person like
kind of POV whereas from this
point he is a typical
character in a novel which is like you don't
you're not necessarily in their mind but they're in
the story and it's good
I will say for this episode
it is titled
Prepare to Cry
shout out to me oh no
Barty I love you
VATI. Yeah. He's actually inspired me to make my, uh, my law channel. He's so, I won't be as good as you, brother, but, uh, thank you for just existing.
Actually, no, no, you should, you should attempt to surpass your, your masters, sir. You don't know that.
You could be better eventually.
Okay, go in your own, go in your own way is fine, but, you know, just saying, it's worth it.
Before we get any further, though, because for you, beautiful listeners, of course, we have done two episodes
on this, and don't worry, I'm not going to leave you hanging. We're going to do like a brief catch-up.
I can explain the events of the previous two episodes slash novels, but would either one of you two just want to give a very brief rundown of who Gregor Eisenhorn is? Like, what is he? Who are we talking about?
Yeah, Ricky. Why don't you do that? No, no, no, no. Sorry, my voice was louder. My voice was louder. You have to do it. And you're the expert. So, you know.
hmm he's an ordo zenos inquisitor and he's kind of a he's he's normally a good looking guy but he's
grumpy because he can't smile anymore because he was tortured and and now he's he's having this
big problem with this weird demon host guy who's being all churabale or however you say him and he's
being all grumpy and he's got a blank bond girl type thing named beckwin and and and he's got his
gun cutter and yeah
If a
The grumpy voice really sold it
Like I'm very grumpy
He's real mad
Because he got tortured and stuff
He can't smile
And he's got a demon host
And his grovels blank
What's up?
What's up with his male pattern baldness
In this cover?
Why is he looks so different?
Mail pattern baldness
brother, he is just bald
I see well it's
Yeah it's it's baldness
Yeah true
I guess I guess
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
For some reason, I was like, male pattern baldness, he's not balding, brother.
He is bald.
It is a passive, though.
Is that Beckwin on the right?
I can't, I can't give me any spoilers away, unfortunately, because there'll be stuff in the story.
Because it doesn't look like Beckwin, but he doesn't look like Eisenhorn, so I don't know what's happening here.
Yeah.
I'm just saying for the audio listeners, the way we're describing this is like, it's kind of a hunched, like, older version of Eisenhorn in his gear.
he's got like socket plugs into the back of his head.
He's bald.
He looks older, a bit more disheveled.
And he's kind of, I'll say he's got a limp, a bit of a limp.
That's a bit of a clue there.
I'll say, whoever's doing the thumbnail for this one, make the demon host big and absolutely like, terrifying.
This is, this is a, this is a, this is a good one.
Ted, can you draw the thumbnail and it's Cherubail?
But he looks like one of those bodybuilders sitting on the couch with the laptop.
And he's like typing something and he's just like, I think we should kill the Imperium.
I don't know.
He's always grinning, by the way.
He's always grinning.
He has a horrific smile, it says.
Hell yeah.
Just a brief recap for the previous two episodes we've done,
we follow Inquisitor Eisenhorn, Ordos Zenos.
and in the first events on the novel, or Zenos,
he basically was involved something called the Necrotuk affair,
which led him to encounter a Zenos race called the Sir Ruthi,
which like the weird kind of multi-limbed on like strange kind of,
I don't know what's the word, like long sticks and their dimensions were strange.
And it was all to do with this chaos corrupted tone called the Necrotuk.
He encountered a enemies who are working alongside the Empress Children, members of house claw,
Pontius Klau, being the infamous dead figure who was inside that sort of crystalline
object and we didn't re-see him since.
And eventually he led to a massive conflict on 56 Ezar with the planet and they were betrayed
by other members of the Imperium like Conrad Molitor, if you remember him.
iconic members of the crew of course
we had Midas Bettencourt
Beckwin
Fisig you know Mr.
Arbite's man
We had Amos
Most Pertibatari
I was always of course
You know like the original gang
They're all there
Book two
Eisenhorn begun that book
Poisoned
And then it essentially
ended with him
Following the massive devastation
attack on the
Helicon a subject
Helicon subsector's capital world, like a massive horrific disaster, like the planes, like crashing
into the crowds and stuff. Alpha level cycles were released and it ended up with Eisenhorn
going rogue and on the run. He found an old friend Magos Bure who helped him craft weapons to
kill basically a dark mirror to what Eisenhorn's fate could be, which is Inquisitor Quixos.
and eventually led to a confrontation.
Many of the Inquisitors who fought alongside him died,
but hey, Eisenhorn lives other than, I guess, he's like pupil Ravana.
Unfortunately, he was badly burnt and was forever just kind of a burnt husk of a creature
who kind of, you know, iconically is known to have his little speaking chair throne.
And after this, so now, that is like the very brief recap.
of course those episodes are available to go watch.
They were pretty good ones, if I say so myself, because I was there.
Thank you.
That's my humble brag.
I'm never going to be sick.
The British in me is now rebelling at saying something nice about myself.
So that is as far as we go.
This event, this is Hereticus.
This is the ending of the trilogy.
And the date is 386M41.
So this one is only a few short.
decades after the second novel.
And we're going to begin this one in part one, which is under the title, EGis Sturred,
The Flower of Blood.
That is Glossier, if you guys remember, like the informal language that we have.
So this one opens, like, kind of like a classic sense of like, like, the gang is all together.
And Eisenhorn, you know, he's a renowned inquisitor at this point.
he's kind of
he's not really gone behind the scenes
he's wanted to stay in the front
lines out there he's kind of
known as a not like a
I guess like a lot of people see him
as like a gunslinger-esque figure
he's like kind of not like a rogue
but like he goes his own way
and he's arrived on a planet called
Adura because there's currently
what happens rarely in O'Hammer but every
few decades is inquisitorial
trials so many of the different
inquisitors come together and they basically
had like a selection of many different people in the Imperium who have to go through an actual
trial rather than just, you know, immediate Emperor's Mercy shot the face on point.
That's no fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, speaking of fun, though, because Eisenhorn goes to sit next to an older inquisitor
called Rassie, who's a bit of a, a bit of a fun uncle kind of guy.
He's like an iconic cane, and him and Eisenhorn are just like, you know, like, they're just chuckling,
growing it up a bit, like talking about, you know, old victories and stuff.
And they're watching a bit of a Puritan inquisitor in this massive like arena trial area who is attempting to interrogate this noble who is shitting himself.
Absolutely like, like just just terrified.
Members of the ecclesiarchy are there.
There's like there's some fat bloke in the corner who falls asleep and he wakes up and slams his gavel being like,
It's just some bad bloke in the corner.
And he goes,
a shade of red apparently not seen before.
So that's fun.
A shade of red not seen before?
Yep.
Wow.
What a phrase.
This guy,
so Eisenhower at this point,
he has a new interrogator who's been asked to basically join him by Lord
Rorkan,
who if you remember from the previous episodes,
Lord Rorkin who's one of the main inquisitors,
he's a lord inquisitor of the Heatherkin subsector
and he's got a bit of a soft spot for Eisenhorn.
He's like the guy who in episode one he has like the silver zvihander
and, um, was it like the silver flamer?
And he was like bellowing chance to banish the chaos spawn.
And then in episode two,
he was the guy who like secretly helped give Eisenhorn some help in the final fight.
So he's, he's asked Eisenhorn to take him.
this new pupil who's, he looks very bright,
has got a very, very bright future.
This pupil's name is,
I think it's Sebastian Vavuk.
And to say things about Sebastian Vavuk
is to say,
this is the most keen motherfucker
who has ever existed.
This guy, the opening of the novel,
is him sending, like, a letter to Eisenhorn saying,
geez, I can't wait to be alongside Inquisitor Eisenhorn.
I'll do whatever you need.
I'm so ready.
All right.
All right.
Mark off your bingo cards.
So we got Conrad Werner in the house now.
The thing is, though, Vibouk is like, Eisenhol's not happy about it, but he's doing a favor.
And to say, like, when the gavel joke scene happens with the, so basically, when this like
gavel joke scene thing is happening, at one point, the inquisitor in the center who's doing
interrogation and Eisenhorn is like
admiring the work. Vavuk is
next to him and Rassy.
The thing is though, this inquisitor in the centre
makes a joke and
DK, I have a
just to give a vibe a bit more
about Vavuk, this is what happens when
the inquisitor makes that joke and I have a small
excerpt if you'd please read that.
Ooh, I absolutely will.
My fellow inquisitors
chuckled, except Vavuk who
barked out an over-loud winnie as if I had just made the finest jest this side of the golden throne.
By the throne, he was a sycophantic weasel.
If ever a windpipe cried out for a brisk half-hitch, his was it.
Wow.
He's so annoying.
Eisenhorn wants someone to throat punch this guy.
God.
Really funny.
It is really funny.
And you can tell even Rassie is getting a bit annoyed at him.
But something interesting happens during the middle of this trial.
Fisheg arrives.
Our boy, Fisig, he's tall, he's blonde, he's got a few bits of grey in that hair,
but he is Mr. I do what is right all the time,
and he is probably one of Eisenhorn's closest friends.
They work together for over a century at this point,
and he's like interrupted them because he's brought news.
An individual, a heretic, has been spotted on this.
world of Dura.
And his name is Fade Thuring.
And Eisenhorn steps up immediately because he knows Fade Thuring, because Fade Thuring
killed Midas Bettencourt.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
So are we doing like the wrong sulfuric acid type treatment on this one?
Let's play along.
You'll see what this is.
Okay, okay.
Okay. But, yeah, Faith Thuring was a bit of a nothing cultist a while ago, but he ended up killing Midas Betancourt.
If you guys remember from episode one, he is our dual needle pistol equipped kind of, he's a glavian.
So he had like the metal inlay in his hands. He is, he was pretty cool. And his daughter, Medea, is part of the crew since the second book.
And apparently he's been spotted on the world. So Eisenhower.
Horn is like, fuck it, I'm out of here. I won't, I wouldn't let this opportunity go, because
this guy's been hiding for decades. I don't know what kind of player he is now. He assembles all
of his group together. And in fact, Inquisitor Rassie says, I'm willing to join you. This sounds like
fun. They go outside. There's fishing. You've got extra members of the crew, because obviously
Eisenhorn's got a massive collection now of different staff.
There's a fish egg, Harlan Nail, who's like the, um, the kind of ex-bounty hunter who always says this in the book.
He's like, sure thing, boss.
He always gives that accent.
He's pretty cool.
Uh, he does look like a Neanderthal.
I won't lie.
Not blessed in the visual department.
So, so he's not a solid snake ass despite the fact that you're hit with the, you're pretty good.
Yeah.
Yeah, it sounds like that, though.
It literally is that accent, which is hilarious.
But he's a, coming out of Fred Flintstone.
Yeah.
There's a lovely image, uh, shy.
in the chat of what he looks like.
He literally looks like terrifyingly like,
oh,
like a big,
oh,
you say,
you say Neanderthal as in like,
he looks like some roided up junkie.
Yeah.
Oh,
okay.
Neanderthal,
I was just thinking some hunched over like big brow like,
you know,
I kind of was getting,
um,
I kind of was getting a more of like a,
um,
what's,
what's,
uh,
Dr.
Frankenstein's helper's name.
Okay,
that's the name.
Oh,
oh,
E-Cor.
Igor. I was kind of thinking Igor. I didn't realize you meant like your local muscle.
Your local bodybuilder dude is telling you to eat more way.
Yeah. His jaw shape is pretty crazy, I'm assuming.
His jaw shape is square.
He's not quite dragging his knuckles on the floor, but, you know, he's.
Right. So he's so big muscle-bound gorilla. This is just a silver back of a man.
Yes. There is other members. There's new members of the group. There's a member called Caraswe.
who's an ex kind of, I think is it, gymnast or a member of like a circus.
And there's also outside Elizabeth Beckwin, who, despite her age obviously being, you know,
north of probably 150 at this point, Eisenhorn says she still looks pretty good and she
hasn't really been in the front lines for a long time because she runs the distaff,
which is like their secret organisation of blanks, which he lends out to other inquisitors.
they all get together and Vavuk, and they get in the gun cutter, because Medea is raring to go.
She even goes up to Eisenhorn and says, like, he's here, the man who killed my father before I was even born.
She's ready for vengeance, but he makes a promise not to act too rashly.
This is where they make their way to this kind of remote island on the planet.
And it used to be like a station, like Garcation, but it's kind of been abandoned.
and they're trading through these kind of, what's the best way described this?
I guess like it's kind of almost like a post-apocalyptic look to it.
It's like really run down.
Everything's like kind of half broken, abandoned.
Everything, something seems out of place here.
You know, they can't seem to work out where, you know, fade thuring is.
This does actually lead to the event.
Like there's some investigations they do here.
They find like an old, like weird priest on the island.
who's been there for 20 years by himself,
eventually they kind of work out why Faith Thuring is here
because the ground begins to rumble.
A sound emanates from the island
that is so haunting and disgusting,
it puts the fear of the God Emperor in all of them,
the whole crew,
because not like an enemy force has arrived,
an enemy like weapon is here.
Bursting from some central location on the island,
a chaos titan emerges.
Oh, that's not good.
Yeah.
That is super nice.
His name is,
his name is Cruel vault.
And Faith Thuring is inside this corrupted machine,
like spitting mess.
and the crew realized they are fucked.
So they just run.
They start fighting between buildings.
Because they're obviously like an very intelligent group,
but they've been outplayed.
At some point at the island,
there are explosions in the distance,
and it's Harlan Nail,
who he is set off booby traps to like distract the Titan.
But like this is a cat and mouse game,
except the cats are building.
Like, it's not happening.
This is where they run.
into, and like, lasering fire is like, like, evaporating, like, buildings next to them.
It is terrifying.
And Eisenhorn's like, I don't know how to win here.
Eventually.
Yeah, yeah.
No, I'm sorry, but like, I'm not quite sure if looking at a chaos titan, but like, I don't
sure how I beat that is like, I, God bless him for, for having the gift of confidence,
truly.
Mm-hmm.
Except they come up with a plan.
they run into one of the abandoned churches because they think it's the strongest like building around
and they realize like they can come up with some kind of plan which is because in Eisenhorn and
Rassy they are both psychers they will try to enter into the mind of the machine spirit itself
and they grab Eisenhorn's run staff which is the one which has his like his um
recreation of his own skull it was made by Megalong
Biel from the previous episode, the Magos who used to serve alongside his old master,
and they will enter into the mind of the Titan, and then at the last moment, they'll have
Bekwin grab the Roonstaff to kind of deliver like a psychic blank aura into it with them
to hopefully either damage it or basically give by them time. It's the only thing they can
think of. So the two of the inquisitors stand within the church, they combine their minds and their
might together and they proceed to enter into the mind of the machine spirit.
And immediately Eisenhorn wakes up in like, he's like surrounded and drowning in these things.
Like he is actually swamped.
He almost loses control.
Flashes of Trubail enter his mind.
And Rassie, who is linked to him, screams being like, you know, hold on.
Rassie saves him from drowning in the own, like, psychic kind of waters.
And Bricky, I have a small excerpt here for what Eisenhorn sees when he enters in and he sees the vision of what cruel fault has witnessed.
Yeah, a small excerpt, literally a paragraph.
I saw such things.
May the God Emperor spare me.
I saw such things then.
I stood on the brink and peered into the other.
abyss of the Titans' memories. I saw cities die in flames. I saw legions of the Imperial Guard incinerate
him. I saw space marines die in the hundreds scurring around my feet like ants. I saw planets catch fire
and burn to ashes. I saw Imperial Titans, proud warlords burst apart and die under the onslaught of my
hands. I saw the gates of the Imperial Palace on Terra through a blizzard of fire. I saw down through
many thousands of years. I saw Horace vile and screaming out his wrath. I saw the whole heresy
played out in front of my eyes. I saw the age of strife and witnessed firsthand the dark age of
technology that preceded it. It goes hard this. Of course. Yeah. It's intense beyond imagining.
Rassie and Eisenhorn are screaming in pain as they asked Beckwin to grab the
run stuff. Bekwin
does. It delivers a
psychic blank kind of
spark towards the Titan
which sends it spiraling
for a moment. Except
this sends a backlash.
Rassie implies
fall to the floor.
They fall to the floor
like holding their heads.
Elizabeth Beckwin
goes flying back
and her body crunches
against the wall. And she does
not move or get up.
Fishing and nail
rush over to her and they
look at Eisenhorn and they just
there's nothing to say.
She's basically...
Oh, well, Jesus.
Like, there's the barest
etchings of life within her, but
no one recovers from something
like this.
Also, I didn't realize that was something that was
possible that a psycher could just be like, oh yeah,
I'm just going to enter the mind of this
machine.
Spirit, Chaos Titan, and we're just
going to dinky doodle around.
And I didn't, I didn't realize you could enter.
It's not really possible because it kills you.
It basically.
Well, true. Yeah.
It does, doesn't it?
Yeah. Yeah. But I didn't realize that was a plan that you could
enact, but it's kind of dope.
This is why this is called,
called Prepare to Cry, because
Eisenhorn just gets up and he runs outside
waving his,
uh, his like katana barbarous satyr in the air like,
like a madman,
screaming at the titan.
He's almost lost his mind.
The Titan itself is reeling from it, but it's back around.
They're going to die.
Rassie and some of the other agents of Eisenhorn get eviscerated in one shot.
Rassie dies in an instant.
Fischig is down, Karaswals down, Harlan Nail is basically like they're holding Beckwin's
like broken body.
Eisenhorn has nothing to do.
There's no way.
He's finally found an enemy he cannot beat
conventionally.
Eisenhorn remembers something.
He remembers a certain book he picked up
from a certain
foreign inquisitor.
He thinks of the being
that he had trapped within his own house,
his own Gudron estate,
and he begins to summon true.
Bael. In his desperation, a soaring comet blazes out into the arena and just starts to
gouge the chaos titan and fade thuring apart. And it is, it gets worse because at this point
also Medea at this point, just before this has happened, she rushed forward and tried to
use the gun cutter to
distract the Titan
she has inside it
is Vavuk and Amos
they're inside the cutter
and the cutter gets shot and it
falls to the ground and
explodes.
Dude this is like
why is this a Metroid Prime opening
where you just lose all of your powers
and everything instantaneously in the beginning
everything's going to shit.
This sucks. The problem is
the Titan is destroyed
except
in summoning Cherubail
he now
He summoned Cherubail
he lost his power over it
and the blazing comet
starts heading towards him
Eisenhorn rushes forward
towards to get away from the others
onto this like beach area
and he sees from the gun cutter
Vovuk survived
and
he is like
walking out stunned
but he's been very he's like on the edge of
Like, he's really injured.
He's not on the end of death, sorry, he's like very, very injured.
And Eisenhorn sees, funny enough, there's a weird part of, like, the priest earlier,
like, who'd been on the island for 20 years.
Like, he's delusional and starts thinking it's like an angel.
And I start saying stuff for the God Emperor and it, like, hurts true by hell temporarily.
He's like, ah, it buys Eisenhorn a few seconds.
And he asks for Vuk, are you loyal?
He says, yes, like, of course I am.
You know, Eisenhorn's his hero, of course he's loyal.
He asks Vuvuk, are you pure of soul?
He says, yes, but in a different kind of unsure tone.
He tells Vavuk that he is going to do the emperor's work.
And he begins to take some of his blood,
and it begins to bind Churubail into Vovuk as he screams dying as his soul is extinguished.
Oh!
Oh!
...contained.
Oh, brother.
Oh, that sucks.
Oh, my God.
Fisig arrives, and he is disgusted with what he sees,
because he sees Chirubail floating, which should not be there.
Churubail should have been defeated long ago when they fought Quixots.
How is this possible?
Eisenhorn tells him he's got it under control.
Which Fisig asks, was Vavuk even dead when you did it?
to which Eisenhorn does not respond.
Eisenhorn proceeds to then...
Jesus!
Yes, he also finds, luckily, emerging from the crash on the side, Medea and Amos are still alive.
They're very injured, but they did survive the crash, and they also see what happens to Vovuk.
Eisenhorn guards Chirubail as they make their journey away, as Bekwin is rushed towards immediate medical care,
and Fisig is asked to stay behind and sort of deal with the aftermath
and Eisenhorn gives him his rosette,
which Fisig almost takes a double meaning from this.
They arrived back at the estate on Gudrin,
which Gudron was the world where they actually had initially fought house glory,
and because Eisenhorn likes the world so much,
it's kind of like a weird mimicry of Earth, that one,
so there are lots of variety on that planet.
So it's a bit of a nobles planet, you know,
It's basically a holiday resort.
So he's also got a Gudran estate,
although he has many different assets and places around the Helican subsector.
He arrives in the estate, and he is obviously, of course,
dismayed at what he has done to Vovuk,
but he also feels like part of it was necessary.
Like, he needed to do this to win.
He has a regicide game with Amos,
and it's interesting,
here because he's speaking to Amos about, obviously Amos or Turubail.
And it kind of leads the conclusion of like Amos is maybe not as Puritan as Fischig.
And even though like all these people are good friends, he really does trust Amos.
And even though he's obviously again like, it is most perturbatory.
It says it quite a few times.
But Amos is like, again, he's older than Eisenhorn.
He once served alongside the previous inquisitor Eisenhorn's teacher.
He trusts Eisenhorn that he's done the right thing.
And he says you have to stick by your convictions.
Like, you know, maybe it's a horrible thing you've done,
but this work requires, you know, people who have the stomach for it.
In the Goodron Estate, the crew are kind of resting, healing up.
Nail is with Nail and Karaswal,
with Bekwin, who's getting medical treatment.
and Eisenhorn is just kind of feels a bit lost for a moment.
Yeah, I would too, honestly.
Like, I'm not going to lie, a bit lost feels a little, I don't know,
not the statement of the century.
Not selling it, yeah.
He goes into a training session and his trainer, like, Jubal Kircher,
he ends up losing like five out of five rounds or something,
to which Kircher, who's kind of too old to be in,
you know, ground serviced, but he's like old enough to teach the household guard.
He even mentions to him like, you're distracted.
Medea, who's recovered from the downed cutter, she ends up wanting to have a sparring session
with Eisenhorn.
I got like a buckler shield combo.
And it's obviously very clear, like the sparring session is not about the actual, like,
they need training because they're both well trained.
It's been in a sad way, like Medea actually lived longer than her father.
ever did because obviously he was kind of cut down by fade thuring probably in his like 40s or 50s or
something obviously they're for juvenile treatments and she's like nearly a hundred years old at this
point obviously doesn't look that though and she's you know she's been with eyes long time
she and tells him at some point like the the sparring is meant to kind of show like there's something
she really wants to talk about but it can't be said with words yeah he ends up winning the second
bout between them and she says like you were right before like before they left he mentioned
her like to not go overboard like this is not about revenge it's about capturing fade thuring or like
you know taking him out it's not about revenge and she she didn't listen because she swung in
with the gun cutter to try and attack the titan yeah and he's something a fucking demon yeah she's
she comes to realization like she was because she was angry at fade throughing for so long
and she was like, you were right, like, revenge is trash, like, is the comment they, like, joke to each other.
Revenge is trash, because what she really wanted was not fade-thuring dead, but she wanted to have her father, Midas, you know.
Basically, as Eisenhorn state, his only, his probably best friend who's ever lived, to which Eisenhorn says he could probably give her that, which she, like, questions.
I ironically, sorry,
Midas has like a kind of, like a red leather jacket
that's often like seen in some of his artworks.
And he asked her to bring it to one of his like psychers.
And this is because once again they want to enact a seance.
But this time they're not like interrogating a dead person.
They want to do it for Midas.
And this is where he sits down with her in his like,
the Goodron estate by the way is like enormous.
like a proper like, you know, cathedral isk area, like, because obviously Quistas are given
unlimited budget.
And she's holding her the jacket and they begin their seance.
And this is where, like, this is my favorite parts in the novel and probably in the series
is because you start to see the kind of highlight reel of their lives together.
So you see Midas as like a young guy and they're having like dinner parties and Bekwin and
Eisenhorn and Amos and Fisig and even.
Maxilla are there, like Tobias Maxilla from, you know, the rogue trader from before. They're all there
and he's telling jokes, he makes all of them laugh. His like silver inlay fingers are playing the
harp incredibly beautifully. They see Midas on the day of his wedding. And as they say, Eisenhorn says,
he has immaculate taste in women because his bride is very, very beautiful. And again, everyone's
there. Like, I, like, you know, other than Eisenhorn, everyone is like smiling and super happy because
it's like the wedding day, they're all celebrating.
You see Midas find out that he's going to be a father.
Like his wife tells him he's going to be a dad and he's like hugging her and he's overjoyed.
And Medea starts to like cry at this point because obviously it's, you know, it's what she really wanted.
And obviously he's rod from it because he's killed before she's ever born.
And it seems like I have a good question for you guys here, which is what do you think you're,
like seance item would be like if someone was to like bring the iconic thing that belonged to you
I wonder what your seance item would be so so what kind of like ritualistic item would they
need to use in order to bring me back to life or like summon my spirit or at least look back into
your past right yeah yeah yeah i literally don't have an answer for you i people listening
put in the comments below your uh your seance item so i would love to know what
people's thing is. I don't have anything like that, to be honest. I don't have anything that I feel
like is directly like, oh, that's that thing he always wore or that thing he always carried with him,
you know? I don't have that. You know, crazy, and this might seem weird because no one
would probably know this. Um, there's actually a black letterman or, uh, sorry, not letterman,
leatherman that I have around me all the goddamn time. Um, and I don't know if you know what a
is how it's like a like a Swiss Army knife kind of thing.
But the ones that contain pliers and stuff.
And it's got like a saw,
it's got a knife, it's got scissors,
it's got a Phillips and a flathead screwdriver.
And it's got like a little leather handle on it.
And it's really smooth.
And it's got some snippers and like,
it's one of those items that like I don't think,
I never think about,
but I need it like every day.
And so I don't know.
Probably probably this,
It probably be this is a good choice.
Honestly, it probably would be this little letterman.
I keep saying leatherman, motherfucker.
I have a letterman jacket.
I don't wear it all the time, but I have one.
Shire has a plushy, which is very, very key.
Like, at this point, it would probably be like my fucking phone.
And that's probably what most people's answer would be.
That sucks, right?
Yeah, that sucks.
That sucks.
I wish I had, like, a cool, like, oh, yeah, I have a Swiss Army knife that has fucking everything in it.
That's a cool answer.
I'm just like, er, my phone.
That's such a lame answer.
I hate it.
I need to find a trinket.
I need to buy a trinket now.
I need something that is like distinctly me.
Damn it.
Shai says what a sad existence.
Damn.
I know.
That's such a sad thing to say.
I hate it here.
I thought it was a good question.
It is a good question.
It's an existential crisis question now.
I got like a silver ring I bought as like a teenager from a,
like a,
like, what's it called, like an antique shop.
I've had that for ages.
I've probably that,
because I've been on my body,
on my person for,
like,
the longest amount of time.
But yeah,
I wish I had a pocket watch.
Touching scene.
You don't need a pocket watch, man.
You're fine.
I just for making you interesting.
They're cool, though.
I wouldn't even show it off.
They're just cool to have and click open, you know?
Anyway,
go ahead.
Tell us more about Eisenhower.
So it's a,
it's a beautiful scene.
And it suddenly gets interrupted.
Eisenhorn leaves the room because something is quite wrong.
He starts to smell smoke.
Then he sees two or three men enter in, like the room in front of him,
and they're carrying weapons.
They have sye blockers on their equipment,
so he can't use his psychic powers.
They are mercenaries, and they have donned iconic carnival masks
at the time of like Goodron's great carnival
and they just start blasting
Eisen's one has to dive to the side
he grabs like I mean like they just do
No I'm sorry I'm just I'm just
You say that and my first thought is Danny DeVito
It's just I'm looking at the
They start blasting because I don't see so good
It's good thing I have my pieces like I don't know
It's just tickled me I'm sorry
Also not not to not to interrupt
a backtrack I have a good answer
It's it's listen I I know the trinket
that you would use to summon me.
I got it.
It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a bottle of cologne.
That's what it is.
It's a bottle of fucking cologne.
You know, you know, as someone who has been around, D.K. in person, he is the best smelling
Warhammer adjacent person, I know.
It's not a high bar, brother.
It is not.
But you, but even to regular people, I mean, and fuck you, man, take the goddamn hell.
Is it the subtitle of this episode, uh, like Warhammer, D.
D.
cake doesn't smell like ass?
Yes, yes.
Hey, I'll give them credit.
It's true.
Yeah, I'm literally holding a bottle of my favorite fragrance right now.
It's from Mind Games.
It's called Ruiz Lopez.
It is not cheap.
Don't look up how much it is.
I did not pay retail, but that doesn't matter.
I have a good answer now, damn it.
It's not just my phone.
Anyway, sorry, I just need to clear the air that I'm not that pathetic.
Eisenhorn whips up Midas's.
iconic twin needle pistols
that they took outside the room
because it was not good to do a
seance with weapons apparently
because you'd space you see murder
he manages to shoot these initial
mercenaries
and he like the
comms the ors
the orspects everything is down
he asked Medea to stay
as he goes to investigate further
he eventually
sees members of his own staff
have been put up against the wall and shot
like there is fire in other parts of the estate is clear they are under attack.
He manages to meet up with Amos, who is actually holding his bolt pistol and manages to save him because he always gets shot himself.
They run to Eisenhorn's personal office.
They kill three guys in there, and they quickly grab us as much they can take.
He takes, obviously, the iconic Barbaris Sater, the weapon, he takes his runstaff.
he also grabs from his safe the malice codician
and they just start to make a run for it because the estate is under attack
and what's even weirder is no one on the planet
so none of the Arbitees or guard or anything are coming to help
it's complete silence
they start to run and they meet through
like the massive like forest estate area slash the
there's like apples trees and like fields around them
he meets up with one of the
staff who's like really new and in training
called Alina
and there's another member of the staff
who he's already like on death store
so he gives him his gun and they just like
buys time for them.
They kind of realised that
they've probably been betrayed from within
and it's maybe one of the newest staff
last week who
he's basically only been there a week
and is a nobody essentially
it was always planned to be this
Kircher the training guy
is definitely like I think one of the other characters say like he's probably killed at least like 10 guys coming off of them but he's definitely dead so that everyone is running they they go into the backup backup plan because all of like the gun cutter everything like the whole place is being hit and it looks like they've got the planned and everything like they know everything so Eisenhorn Alino and Amos they finally run into the back of the forest to the backup backup plan which is
like a small ship that they had placed there as an emergency,
which actually is only there because they were worried like all the young people
were going to like practice flying with it.
They didn't want them to use it that much.
So it's kind of like a stroke of luck.
Eisenhorn, really like he has to, like there's no radio anymore.
So, or like a Vox.
So he uses mine to try and find Medea.
She is with the other member who was like the psych who was doing the seance with.
He gets killed.
and he realized, like, Medea's going to die.
He's like, oh, my God, Midas's daughter is going to die as for me on my watch.
So they get in the ship, and he just, like, they fly really low back towards the estate.
Medea is surrounded by these mercenaries.
And eventually, like, because they have, like, a bit of, like, the mercenary ships are all, like, they're bought on world.
They're, like, they're kitted out with amazing gear.
but it's obviously like is it a hastier job it's like elite enough to do this thing but it's not like this is like their own stuff
and eventually eisenhorn like lands the ship within this like massive gathering of um like trees
they're meant to shoot some of the mercenaries around them medea was running towards eisenhorn
and she gets shot she goes down Eisenhorn just again has to distract as elina and amos like
wrencher into the ship
Eisenhorn gets into the pilot
controls and they
start flying but they start
flying below tree level
because they're being chased by
four other ships.
So Eisenhorn is yeah and it's like it's turned to night
now the estate is just one big fire
and Eisenhorn is like
almost like pissing himself
being like the warning signs
the warning on the ships of like incoming damage
like it's just going off the entire
a time that being chased.
You played, you played, you played Ace Combat, uh, Hal?
No familiar.
Oh, man.
Damn it.
Love Ace Combat ain't around here.
I just need a little bit of a rail gun warning.
Rail gun warning.
Oh, no, no.
Nope.
I can't.
I can't, man.
No, you're going to have to, D.K., you're going to have to.
No, I've, I've experienced it.
I've already experienced that.
I know.
Exactly.
Real gun warning, motherfuckers.
You're ready for it.
Oh, my God.
The whole time.
Damn you, land tank.
Well, land battleship, sir.
Right, sorry, land battleship.
The scene here is like incredibly intense.
And they eventually like,
the scene with the land battleship was also incredibly intense.
The fight with the ship, anyway, this is not an ace comment.
A few of the ships flash into trees, like one of them,
they manage to like shoot out.
They get tagged and they're going down to which they basically crash the ship into the trees in the forest.
As no one gets the others out and he literally jumps up into a tree as they're the ones like hovering down to like try and shoot for survivors.
He jumps into that ship, kills one of the guys and then holds a pistol to the pilot and says, you know, like take your sigh shielding off, which he does.
And then he's like out and he knocks the guy out with his mind.
They steal that shit and they make a run for it.
They've been hit.
And Eisenhorn doesn't know who has done this, but clearly they have Intel.
They have a lot of funding and it's clearly targeted to kill every part of his like assets.
So it's a big mystery as to who's behind this.
And obviously it's happened on Goodron, but none of the local forces have come to investigate
slash help. So they clearly maybe have inside like, you know, corruption helping them.
So he basically says they're on their own. And it may, so they can't get, they don't have any, like,
tell Astropath to get a message out. But Eisenhorn has a plan. He takes the stolen ship with their,
like, Medea's like dying. She's obviously, she's been hit pretty bad. This Elina,
who's obviously a psychic blank is with him and Amos. There's no one else.
he goes into the mountains
and he goes to this very like small village
it's like quite late
he rocks up he wears like his best uniform
and he knocks on the door
that of a certain woman named
Kretia Bertchard or Bechilde
and this person
Kretzia is a kind of
very beautiful woman's blonde hair
and she is really really
pissed to see Eisenhorn.
I'm sorry, I prefer
blondes, and then I shot her.
And then I shot her.
Eisenhorn,
he says, Kresia
says you've got a lot of nerve coming here
after 20 years of nothing.
They enter in,
and Kretzia
is a
widely regarded doctor
slash, you know, Medicaid,
and he asks her to
keep it on the down low and to save Medea,
which she reluctantly does. Medea undergoes surgery and she's put into one of the rooms in this
woman's house and she's okay. Cretzia comes back and she again is just pissed to see Eisenhorn.
He's a long nerve showing up here and he asked to basically keep them on the down low, you know, for a friend.
Remember that comment. And, you know, they need to hide and he's asking, can I,
have access to a private astropath and we need some funds and I just need to like lay low
for a moment. Also, in my ship, I've got a prisoner, oops, which she immediately is even more
pissed about because obviously she's a doctor. With her present, Eisenhorn begins an interrogation
slash kind of psychic torture. With the help of Kretia, she gives him some like drugs,
to make him woozy.
And this is where Eisenhorn realizes, like, who,
with Amos's help,
they start to discern who the mercenaries are.
They're a group called the Veserine Janissaries.
They come from a kind of, like, primitive-ish world,
and they have like a clan system,
and they just are used for mercenaries.
It said in the novel, like, you know,
they'll say for the God Emperor, for money.
Like, they'll do, they'll serve you one.
And they clearly got like...
For the God Emperor for Money is a very enjoyable phrase.
I like that one.
Yeah.
I kind of hope that that's their whole thing.
Not really, but like that's like, that's what Amos essentially.
They have, um, they have false, uh, identities implanted in their head by clearly someone who's
quite a powerful psycho, to which Eisenhorn, much too cretsy is, um, dismay really, really
pushes this guy.
The interrogation seems quite interesting because he asks him like,
what colours the sky?
Blue.
Well, you know, what, um, what, what's my name?
Gregor.
And then he's like, you know, who'd you work for?
He keeps repeating the pattern of the interrogation to make him keep continuously answer
questions.
Pushing this guy to the brink, like he's almost about like kind of going to spasm.
He gets the names Marla Taree and then the boss of Marla Torei, Kanjar, the Sharp.
Now, this means nothing to us at the moment.
This means absolutely nothing.
In the next scene, there's a few scenes that happen in this like cottage house.
They get access to some kind of communiquez.
This is where they kind of figure out and they learn from reports from other worlds and other stations that Eisenhorn has.
Every single organization slash part he touches has been hit.
There has been a massive bombing on Thracian Primaris.
There has been attacks on other sites on Goodron.
Everything throughout the Helicon subsector that Eisenhorn touches has been hit.
The distaff were killed.
They were attacked by a group pretending to be like a liberation group.
They've all been killed.
Inquisitor Inchabelle, the guy from the last episode,
the guy who like kind of tagged along with Eisenhorn throughout that story,
he has also been blown up in his own home.
Jesus.
Dude, everyone is just getting fucking slammed in this book.
Yes.
This is, Eisenhorn is in, like, he's already in, like, questioning devastation.
This is, like, pure agony at this point.
This is where we're going to get to part two.
Aegis repose by thrice ignited as a statue to the end of earth.
that is the Colossia.
And it is a very early morning.
Eisenhorn is kind of dealing with the aftermath of what he has learned.
Like everything he's built over a century is kind of gone.
And this is interesting because he's speaking to Cretzia very early in the morning together.
And DECO, have an excerpt if you would please read out for me.
This is kind of what they discussed together.
Sure.
How's Elizabeth?
She asked suddenly.
I had been sort of waiting for that.
I'd broken my long relationship with Kretia Bearchild in the end because of Beckwin.
Even though I knew Elizabeth and I could never be together in any way except friends,
I knew I would never get past my love for her.
It was too much in the way and that could never be fair in Kretia.
25 years before, in that very house, I had told her as much.
and walked away.
She's dying, I said, or already dead.
I told her what happened on Durrier.
He used to be.
Yeah.
Durrier.
Durrier.
Durr?
Yeah, that's what I said.
Eisenhorn met Kretzia quite a long time ago.
In one of the short stories, that's in between, I think, book one and two,
he actually, like, lost his hand.
and instead of getting like a metal augmentation, he had a vac groan replacement.
And one of the doctors who was in charge of his recovery was Krexia.
They end up talking and they kind of, he says he was affectionate for her.
They almost got married and nobody knew about him and Kretzia.
And as it says, 25 years ago, he realized he couldn't marry her because he loved Elizabeth.
And that was the last time he saw Krexia.
So Eisenhorn,
canonically,
was almost married,
which is interesting.
Yeah,
so this is like,
there's a bit of an extra dynamic to their relationship,
which is why Kretzia was not too pleased to see,
you know,
your ex-boyfriend show up being like,
I've got a half-dead person and a prisoner.
Can I commit?
Yes.
There's a bit of a complication here.
The Kresia is a good person,
though.
And at this point,
Islewan figures we're going to make a plan.
So he sends out codes to those he thinks are still alive.
He realizes in a secret communique that Harlan Nail is still alive.
He was supposed to be guarding Beckwin, so he's not sure what happened there.
But the fact that Nails a lie, because he nails the kind of guy who's like ex-Bounty Antony's got good instincts.
So he figured of all the people who would survive, Nails always a survivor.
fishing is of course to the life
so he sends news to fishing
and he says like we need to like
get off world and we need to like
meet up he stays
and communicate with Harlan Nail throughout this
entire time this is with their
private astropath slash communicates
there's not the slight problem
which is courtesy as such a nice person
she slightly loosened
the restraints on their
prisoner and the
merciless killer kills her
like house like
A servant slits as a throat in the front room and he's escaped
and he's obviously going to tell them where they are
So Krexia's just kind of fucked them a bit
So they have to leave
And she is like kicking and screaming and saying
I don't know this is my home
To which Eisenol has to like he
He says it regretfully has to be manipulated and say
We've got to leave and Medea if we move her too much
She'll die
But if you stay she'll die
So you have to come and help us keep her like
stable. She's like, you know, you bastard, but fine. It should be mentioned that she's at some
points flirting with Eisenhorn, despite, you know, all of this. She does still like him. She says
regretfully, she's just still like him. They make, they, regretfully. Yeah, yeah, regretfully.
Truly, truly, you can't help. When you regretfully still have feelings for your ex. Yeah, that's a bad
one. The inquister who's like, told you you couldn't leave your house. You're going about he murdered.
Thanks, bro.
they make their way out
and they basically
in a long story short
they grab like different modes of transport
and they slowly have to like kind of run
and they're trying to make their way towards
one of the largest cities on Goodrens
they can hopefully get off this planet
they at some point
they arrive and there's like a luxury train service
that goes through some of the mountains
and actually arriving at one of the main cities
so they say we can't use
gun cutter, we can't use any modes of transport that are easy to track. Being a nameless person
on a train is probably the best we can do. They arrive on this train. They pack Medea in,
who's obviously like still kind of in a coma, like out of it. And there's a few interesting
scenes where like they actually have like a moment of respite. Cretzia is kind of a bit over her
anger. And she asks Eisenhorn to dinner. They have a lovely dinner. He spends them
night. I'll say that. He spends the night. She knows he's in love with another woman, but
she still likes him. This is all, this is all fucked. It's all fucking weird. This is all strange.
Welcome to Warhammer, everyone. Oh, no, no. I want them to, like, murder each other. This is,
we're getting into awkward exes. This is awful. Well, it's about grim dark, man, grim dark.
they're on the train and the landscapes are on this like journey are like it's very beautiful
in this area and like it feels like quite a nice respite from all the craziness that just
happened he goes to speak to amos because amos has been doing his research of course he's
he's like i'm isnheon's top guy i'm most perturbatory about this and this is where i was like
amos has been doing his research like a lot and uh bricky i have an excerpt here
to kind of surmise what Amos is able to gather, if you would be so kind.
It starts with a Marlott...
Most perturbatory.
Most perubatory.
Mm, yes.
Marlateres reported claims to have been born on Goodrim have been discounted by Amos,
who had checked the census and found no sign of the name.
He hadn't gone back far enough.
He hadn't gone back three and a half hundred years.
I did.
And found that terror.
had been a peasant name on Goodrin until that time.
The family tree ended right there.
I knew who it was.
I knew who my enemy was.
Pontius Glaw.
That's son of a bitch is back.
Most middatory.
Canjar that's sharp is Pontius Glaw.
They put it together and Eisenhorn just reels from the fact that the person who's probably
organized the death of everything he's created is.
is someone who should be locked in a basement with Magos Bure on a lost like asteroid.
So Magos Bure is definitely being killed as well.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Yeah.
He's out.
Yeah.
And Pontius Gleur, who he's hidden from the Inquisition, he is alive.
And well, clearly, this is mad.
Womp, womp.
Yeah, that's a real bad.
This is again when Eisenhorn's having like a bit of a menty bee, I won't lie.
Amos again
A mentee
B did you say?
Yeah
Yeah
Ah yes
He's like his father figure
throughout a lot of the book
And he reassures him
And he's like comforting him here
In a like a bright spot
Medea wakes up
She's obviously like still injured
But she's alive
They've been a few weeks on the train
Until eventually
In the middle of the night
The train stops
The emergency stop has been
halt and it's like
it's a blizzard snow
outside. They go to
investigate what's happening
and someone, one of the
staff has been killed.
This is where Eisenhorn, who's
away from the group, starts to
see three
Veserine Janissaries in the
hallway. They found them.
So he's already got
Barbaric Sater in hand. And I had to write down some of these names
because Eisenhorn buffs will be very
on me about this.
He, if you remember from the last episode,
that there's a,
the Carthian way of fighting,
like the base of the Catana,
the Catana,
that was his, like, iconic thing he does.
So it pulls out a few moves here
to cut down these three guys.
He does the Uwiswa,
an Ulsaah,
and an Ul,
oh, God, it's a mouthful,
an aura,
Wilga, Bay.
I don't know what that really,
like, it does translate them in the novel,
but he basically pulls out these moves
and he kills the guys in front of him.
He then has to follow another group.
At one point he actually kicks the guy out of the window,
which is really funny because it just falls to his death.
He then makes his way towards the train roof
and sees more of the Janus area's arriving,
which he goes to kill.
He ends up fighting a duel with,
I think it might have been the guy who,
either he kicks off,
the guy he kicks off into like the snow,
such to fall to his death,
was the guy who they had as a prisoner.
or this is the guy who was their prisoner, he fights him in like a duel.
And these guys are like, you know, these guys are cutthroat, you know, primitive killers.
You know, it's like initially a primitive man been given like gun training.
He's got no qualms about killing people.
They engage in this duel and Eisenhorn's doing pretty well, but like they're on a slippery, like, blizzard roof.
He almost falls off the top himself, to which the other guy is like laughing,
just slowly walks out to like enjoy the kill, to which Eisenhorn says,
Oh, fuck, honor.
And just takes out his gun and shoots him.
So I don't know why he didn't do that immediately.
A little,
a little Indiana Jones moment.
We love those.
I think it would be fair.
He makes his way back into the train.
And again,
luckily,
everyone is still okay.
He says,
formerly,
I am an inquisitor.
I'm taking over the train.
You know,
don't you dare fucking question me.
And let's get this shit moving.
Uh,
Medea is,
fully awake now. And he has a conversation with her. He's like, he's glad. Like he literally
says to himself, like, Midas will have never forgiven me, rest his soul if I let his daughter die.
And Medea is obviously his close friend. And she's a bit of a hot head at times. But, you know,
she's a good member of the crew. She does say at one point, you're feeling better recently? He's like,
yeah. And she looks over at Kretzia. And I believe it says she does some hand signals and some pretty
graphic gestures.
So she's doing the finger in the whole thing.
It says, quote, she made a surprisingly coarse and graphic gesture.
Ah, the wanker hand sign, eh?
Yeah, so she's quite funny.
I like her sense of humor.
But he's like, yeah, yeah, all right.
Yeah, so they, at this point, he's talking more to nail.
And they're going to say they're going to arrive in the city of New
New Jeep
It sounds like Geneva
but there's no N in it
It's like Javier
Javier I think
New Javea
and he's been sending
more message to Nail
and he starts like
Hey remember that time
we did that thing
to which Nail responds
Oh yeah I remember it
This is all in Glossier
And then he kind of clocks on
being like
Because he's like
That's interesting
That's really interesting
Eisenhorn
wearing Amos's like
Long robes
They arrive in the city
and he goes to the meeting place he arranged.
He goes into this special lounge,
which I think it describes it as,
it's trying to look like a kind of,
you know,
like,
you know,
crazy bar,
but it's actually just full of like rich kids
who are pretending,
you know,
they're like putting on a show.
Ah,
yeah,
yeah,
yeah,
we call that,
we call that Joey's Newport Beach.
Two people,
but I believe.
Two,
no, no, no,
I don't need you to.
Two people will know what I'm talking about.
And only two people, and that's fine.
Fucking poser-ass restaurant.
That's all.
That's it.
That's it.
Joey's in Newport Beach or Joey's and Newport Beach?
It is a restaurant called Joey's in Fashion Island in Newport Beach.
And it showed up recently, and it's one of those places where, like, oh, it's the hit
place for all the financial people on the scene to go.
meat. And all the waitresses are like, like the waitresses
outfits are kind of like a little skimpier than they probably should be.
And it's like, oh, and then like people get served too many drinks.
And it's like no for having a lot of people like drive home drunk around there.
Like it's a whole fucking mess.
Yuck.
Probably like that.
Well, this is one's called Entipaw's Lounge.
That sounds better than showies.
Yeah.
He's in these robes.
And then guess who appears to sit right on his.
booth is good old Marla Teray, surrounded by the Janissaries. She's pretty braggie saying,
you know, it implies it they broke Glossier code. So Eisenhorn, his code, you know,
which is not that hard to understand. Eisen, you know, it's Eisenhorn, Thorne, you know,
like it's not too difficult, I'll be honest, but they've broken Glossier and they're like,
you fucked up, you know, too bad it ends like this.
Eisenhorn pulls back his hood.
It's not Eisenhorn.
It's one of the dead Janissaries.
He begins to convulse as he's been shot up.
And his body erupts in a warp vortex.
In the instant, the body explodes and kills everybody in the room.
Molotorov, the echo of her death,
her mind, Eisenhorn sees and thinks of the word gul, as in G-H-U with a umlaut on the top and an L,
not like, as in like, gul-gul.
Yeah, yeah.
And he also realizes something as she's dying as well.
Marla Torei is Pontius Claus' daughter, his bastard daughter, who's had rejuvimat treatment
slash, you know, heretic stuff to keep her alive, and he just killed her.
Just so I'm clear, when you say bastard, daughter, you mean the technical term of out of wednesday.
Yeah, of like not a noble.
Sure, sure.
Not like that bitch.
Like you mean like a bastard.
Like an actual bastard.
And in another room inside a new Jivey, Eisenhorn is like convulsing on the floor.
Amos knows break down the door as Eisenhorn stands there with the Malas codicium.
so he did something fucking foul to get that.
I got to be honest with you.
So far this episode, you know, last couple episodes I was like, oh yeah, I would absolutely be a radical inquisitor and use all that chaos warp stuff to my benefit.
Surely, surely.
This, this book and episode have made me be like, you know, maybe Pyrrion is the way to go because nothing good is.
happening to this man
after using all that stuff. Like Shai said,
it's like how much, how much of this
shit is coming back to bite him in the
ass? Like the demon,
the body, I'm like, maybe
you know what? I, I
think I just want to be Puritan and not
fuck with this stuff and just destroy it on site.
That's because you're
too weak will, decay.
That's because you're too weak-willed.
You just need to overpower the chaos
items. You need to overpower
the chaos items. And you
them for the power of humanity.
You don't understand.
If Eisenhorn can't do it, my ass ain't doing it.
That's for sure.
Eisenhorn can't smile.
He doesn't have any whimsy.
He lacks the whimsy for chaos.
As the, yeah, it's a pretty great, like, even the other, like, the others are disgusted
with what he's kind of like, how far he was willing to go.
He didn't let the others know he was going to do this.
at this point
it makes the point
that he worked out
that he wasn't actually
speaking to Harland Nail
because when he was saying earlier
like remember all those times
we did that thing
he made them up
so he was like
that wasn't Nail
I'm only even speaking
to Fisig and some Rando
who's obviously
when they broke Glossier
at this point the group
they
with obviously
the only pilot
they could ever trust
Tobias Macsilla
Mr.
you know
Mr. Bourbon
you know, fancy wig and white makeup and like a thousand rings and proper like, you know,
1800s gilded wear.
He shows up with his iconic ship, the SN.
He's introduced to Kretzia, who he's like, oh, darling, who are, you know, he's just over the top.
We love, we love Maxilla.
And they board the ship and they're going to make their way towards hubris, which is where
Fisig says they should meet up.
On the journey there, Eisenhorn sits down to talk to Max Siller, who he's known for like a hundred years at this point.
And he's like informally part of the crew.
And at this point he kind of treats Max Siller as like a confessional.
He tells him everything he's done.
Like everything, like even Pontius Glor, like explain like Pontius glory is like, it's my fault.
Like the reason, like, I needed his knowledge to defeat one's like, um, quick.
sauce, but yet I've kept him alive and like, I'm kind of skirted the line of being, you know,
a proper, you know, radical.
To which Maxilla, like, is really nice to him.
And he, uh, he does specifically say this.
I got an excerpt, uh, D.K.
If he would, uh, be so kind.
He's gives him a little bit more.
Man, there really are a lot of people enabling, uh, Eisenberg here.
I don't know.
There's a lot of people that are enabling his warp terrorism.
Oh, it's okay that you puppeteered a corpse to cause a terroristic warp explosion.
The ends justify the means, right?
Anyway, let me tell you something, Gregor.
I love you like a brother, but we're nothing alike.
I'm a rogue, a gambler, a liar, a reprobate.
My vices are many and unmentionable.
I never bend the rules.
I break them, snap them,
shatter them, however, and whenever I may. In that regard alone, I am a kindred spirit. You are bending
the rules of the Imperium of the Inquisition. You are undoubtedly what they call a radical. But that's
where the similarities end. I break the rules from my own gain to get what I want, to amplify my
wealth and status, to make things better for me, me, just me, but you're not doing it for yourself. You're
doing it for the system you believe in
and the God Emperor you worship
and by damn that means your
conscious can be clean
by damn
do you guys agree
with this sentiment do you get
the impression that Eisenhorn does this
for the Imperium
or is there some kind of
sense of this may be
a bit more within
this comes more from his own
his own mind rather than
his actual sanctified just
justifiement to do it.
I don't know who are doing this for the
Imperium. I'm not going to
No.
This is, this is for himself.
This is, this is to get payback.
This is, yeah, no, this is, this is, yeah.
He needs, he needs, he needs, he needs a stern calling out from one of his friends so that
he can, you know, not fall to chaos.
Speaking of that, Eisenhorn even says to Max Seller and like Amos and Medea,
others. Like, he's, he's worried about Fisig's reaction because he's always said, even the previous
novel, like, Godwin Fisich was always like his conscience. Throughout the stories, he's been,
you know, like, Godwin broke him out of prison in the last one because he believed, like, he was a good
man, and he's not broken the rules. And so he's kind of worried about how he's going to take a lot of the
events that have happened. Eisenhorn at this point, like, it almost been, like, at many points of
the story. He almost forgets to bring it with him, but he in some way interprets like,
maybe this is like, is it the book doing this or is this my own brain? He shows Max Silla
the malice codicium. The, of course, the toome, which is how he used earlier to summon
and even bind to Rubio, who again, throughout this whole episode, is just smiling and
rubbing his hands in doing this. And it was also one he got from Quixos, when he defeated Quixos
in the end of the last episode.
interesting like maxilla like kind of picks it up and maxilla's like known for collecting trinket so he's a rogue trader
which we uh lovingly lovingly explained in our first episode you know he's a trader he again like max
ill is kind of does what he wants always he's he always has the last laugh he's got servitors made of
gold and his own ship he's he's his own master but even he says i would destroy it
which eyes and horn thinks is interesting like even maxillers
says I would probably destroy this, which Eisenhower doesn't, but you know.
I was going to say, and yet, what does he not do?
The group arrive at hubris.
If you remember, hubris is where this whole story began.
This is where he was chasing Murdon Eichlone, who awakened all of the civilians and nobles
too early and loads of them died.
And there's the massive sun dome.
It's the massive sun dome area, because most of hubris is like frozen for like,
most of the year.
And Eisenhorn goes to meet with Fisig.
And they kind of like meets a few times.
They meet at one point like in a bar.
And he begins to tell Fisig everything.
So obviously he does trust him.
He tells him about Pontius Glaw,
who it already like makes him uncomfortable with like Troubaal.
This just pushes it over the edge.
He is like pleading with Isamon.
He's like, don't do this.
you're becoming a radical.
And they're like having
Becoming.
Okay.
Because he says like, you know, you'll damn your soul if you do this.
Like this is not the way.
That's the like, it's also one of the reasons what I just don't want to say it's in
the previous novels like what held him back from ever becoming like an inquisitor,
which is why fishing like respected Ravenna so much.
It was because I think he's too much of a play by the rules kind of guy.
And he, you know, he was, I would say.
like he's fishing is the kind of guy who he just has a internal wall he can't go past it where
others don't have that at this point uh i think one of the last few excerpts of the um episode here
i think we've got a few more to go but uh brokie this is like the last words they exchange
in their confrontation if he'd be so kind to read this out sure renounce it all all of it
Give over the malice codicium to me, the demon host, your rune staff.
Let me take you back to the Ordo's headquarters on Thracium.
You can do penance there.
I'll plead for you.
Plead for leniency.
They wouldn't be too hard on you.
You'd be active again before long.
You actually believe that you could take me back to the Ordo's.
Tell them what I've done and they'd let me practice again?
They'd understand.
Fishing.
You don't understand.
He looked at me, disappointed.
You won't then?
I think this is where I say goodbye.
I admire your efforts, but I can't be saved, Godwin.
Do you, well, you know, he needs saving.
I mean, he might need saving is a weird phrase, though.
It's how Godwin feels about it.
Do you think he's, like, is that perspective of,
is Eisenhorn technically
like should he be
you know is he using the demon book
as Shai says because he has to
is he doing all he can to fight the enemies
of the Imperium or
is he gone too far like
he's a radical but
is he like can he almost not see the bigger picture
of being a radical like does he not understand
where in his youth he was like a thought
not Thorian he was like an amalathian
puritan like has he
lost his perspective and do you think he yeah you think he i think not maybe that can be saved but do you think
Eisenhorn needs to be brought back from like a brink yeah he definitely does because like i i i kind of
agree with shy on this that like he really fucked up uh how many people close to him died how many
countless people died because oh i no i i i can stop using the demon book anytime i want oh yeah i
I summoned demons for fun to torture them.
He was way off the deep end, right?
Like, this is he, oh yeah, boy, there needs to be a huge save Eisenhorn intervention, right?
It's a toughie because it's like if someone is more like you were saying earlier, D.K.
in the other episodes, if you're more sympathetic towards a radical, someone would argue, well, it's not his fault.
It's the fault of the enemies or the Imperium.
You know, he's just doing what needs to be done.
That's the thing.
Like, if you're in that mindset, someone will say, like, he doesn't need saving.
He's just in some way, like, he has to be the one to take all of this pain and damage.
As Max Seller kind of points out, to, for the good of the Imperium, it not isn't like this is justified,
but because that's the way the grim, dark universe is, like, almost forcing someone to be.
Like, that's, like, it's the downfall is tragic because they're like, they have to fight such evil with evil and something.
way and it's like do us as the reader
do we agree with that
in our own like weird
you know like oh you know because we we judge it from the
safety of our own kind of
our own existence would you
you are certain circumstances make the same choices
I mean all I'm saying is that
he could put the book down whenever you want
yeah shy said don't blame the universe
for his dumb ass choices
that's the thing he could always do it
he could always give, like, he could always let it go.
But maybe there's part of him, which is, like, he actually, like, he really can't.
He doesn't see his own corruption in some way.
Mm-hmm.
This is, uh, this is where we see, like, Eisenhorn, he's pretty gutted about fishing because of, again, everyone, like, they've been to so many, like, through, so many things together.
I haven't, you know, you've been at his side for a hundred years.
They've had so many like friendships, weddings, dinner parties.
No, Fishig was there at Midas's, you know, wedding as well.
Like they've been together for such a long time.
And Medea and Amos, they're like gutted.
They tried to speak to him as well, but he kind of seems like he's made up his mind.
And Eisenhorn won't have someone in his party who doesn't want to be there.
Eisenhorn then receives a communique and it just says simply,
Kanyar must be stopped, which is very interesting.
because obviously he's not sure who this is coming from. But then he sees like in the kind of
coding of it that it's from a figure such a name he hasn't heard from for quite a while.
And he gets back aboard the SN on Max Seder's ship and they make their way to this jungle
world called Promody. They descend from their ramp and they see a figure in this floating chair.
It is Inquisitor
Gideon Ravanaugh, if you remember
from the previous episode.
He has been a full rank inquisitor
for a few decades now.
He's obviously incredibly burned
up as a figure. He can't really do much movement.
He's stuck on his chair.
But Ravanaugh is an incredibly powerful
Psycho, and he has his own series of novels,
which maybe we could do one day
on Deaths Ridiculous again.
I don't know if anyone else's got a particular
affinity for Ravana.
but Raveners...
I'll be honest, I don't.
I think his books are actually quite good, though.
Are they?
Are they?
It's a proper, like, inquisitor book.
Like, it's a full-on investigation and mystery.
I mean, I have no interest in originally reading them, but I didn't realize the books were, like, really good.
I would say they're as good as the Eisenhardt ones.
Maybe a little better in terms of their...
villains and there's like some interesting things.
You know, like there's the whole like one of the members is actually a unique
psycho who becomes one of the Grey Knights.
So he becomes Hyperion.
So there's actually like some cool stuff from there.
There's the recurring characters.
Kara Swole and Harlan Nail are also in the Ravenel books.
And in fact, Kara Swall and Harlan Nail stand beside Ravenna.
Because Ravanaugh got wind of something because he was speaking to some
individuals who were helping him, and they scry that they would be in danger.
So he saved Harlan Nail, Karaswal, and on board his ship in the medical station is Bekwin,
still basically in a coma.
This is where Eisenhorn, he's incredibly grateful.
He's obviously very proud of Ravanaugh, because he's his own inquisitor.
And he's come back from, obviously, like a crazy injury on, underneath the Spacian Gate.
I think it was like 99% burn on his whole body.
Yeah.
So he's a, he, yeah, like, he has to like talk with his chair or his mind because he's even, he's even more powerful with psycher than, um, uh, Eisenhorn.
And if we eventually get to the Beckwin books, there's a part where some people, he, like, he shows off how powerful he is.
And the others go like, holy fuck.
Like, this guy is strong.
He speaks to Rabina.
And they have a very, like, I don't, you can't.
do it justice because obviously it's like a podcast but in like the um the book there's such a good
conversation about there's almost in the universe of 40k ravenor like isleyn
like is wrong confesses some of the things obviously like there is fault and he speaks back to
Eisenhorn saying there's almost an inevitability of radicalism in the war like in the inquisition
like in some way you can't like fend against like eventually someone has to use something
thing to win or hold back the tide and that's what slowly like you know i mean like the puritan belief
can only get you so far and slash you know it doesn't defend against everything and like you can't
in some way everyone like not necessarily falls but becomes more aware of the truth of what
they have to do in order to survive it's a very interesting uh conversation this is where we're
going to get to uh the shortest section but this will be part three and
This is where we make our way towards the end of this series.
This episode is Thorne requires Aegis, the shades of eternity, multifarious changelings below.
Thorne requires Aegis all the goddamn time.
Can he, at some point not require.
It's actually the most common, like, phrase set up in, uh, he says it.
He says it all the goddamn time.
He's always acquiring each.
Thorne not require eages.
Can he not?
I believe
I think multifarious
changelings below
means there are enemies
such as chaos
is around
because multi-ferrous changelings
I think refers to chaos
Also,
changeling is a very,
you know,
classic,
very, yeah, yeah, yeah.
On this, like,
it's a cool scene
where there's like,
what they call it,
is it fire,
not fire bugs?
Fireflies.
They're like fireflies
and it's like jungle setting.
Eisenhorn is speaking again
to Ravenna
and he sees the help
that Ravanna
Ravenna has been receiving.
Because from the kind of like corner, like slightly hidden, he's a slightly slender figure.
It is an elder and he's like a false here.
And he sees Eisenhorn and he like whispers and hate because he senses the malacodysium in his pocket.
To which Eisenhorn states, you know, he understands like again in some way, Ravenna's his own radical because he's allying with, you know, Xenos.
they come to a conclusion
which Ravinor and the Eldar
have collaborated on
because they've both come to the same thing, which is
they can't scry the future anymore
because there seems to be no future.
Something's about to wipe out the future.
And it's related to the word
that Pontius Gaw's daughter
had imprinted on Eisenhorn's mind earlier.
there's going to be some kind of weapon
and it's related to the word gul.
This is where they,
the reason they're on Promody here
is because they understand
like Pontius Glor has been here before.
They begin to enact their own seance
where they have their own psychers
like Raveners and some of Eisenhorn's
group who are psychers, they gathered together
and with the Eldar's help
who they have like a whole bunch of humans
and just one Eldar
because he's something that powerful.
And they enact their own seance,
but not like as in in the mind.
They enact it physically within the space.
They create this bubble which shows what happened in history.
And some weeks before,
they see this creature.
It is slightly larger than a human,
quite like a very tall human,
tall than Eldar.
It is a like sculpted body of metal.
And it looks almost like,
like, you know,
kind of like that Greek statue personified.
This is Pontius Glor's new form, which Shias put a lovely image in.
Whoa.
I actually will have it on the screen as well.
I mean, that fucking rocks actually, though.
Yeah, that is really, really sick as hell.
Yeah, obviously Magos Bure's work added upon, you know,
because he was given a body as a reward for helping Eisenhower last episode.
and interestingly, he's surrounded by like, you know, the genoceros and the other figures
and his own psychas Pontius and they see him staring at something and they realize Pontius
is enacting his own seance and they start to see glimpses or like representations of this large
like kind of what's described like a glossy black city and it looks like he's obviously in search of
some massive weapon that's going to destroy all future possibilities.
And they managed to get some information and some inscriptions on this special tome and
like this star chart.
And it's leading them to what is clearly the location that Pontius has been looking for.
But it's an interesting, like, weird sort of hang up, which is this obviously happened
probably weeks or months ago.
Why is Pontius taking his time?
in what's happening.
So something to think about,
because obviously he could have,
why he's not gone there?
Immediately,
why is he tried to kill Eisenhorn?
Also,
I love Shai's commentary on,
on Eisenhorn so far.
She is no fan of Eisenhower.
What a load of shit on Eisenhorn side.
I use chaos,
artifacts, and demon.
He's friend with Eldar.
Wow, we're both such heretics.
Suck my ass,
Gregory.
Never changed,
Shai.
This is where, like, they sort of split into groups, and they decide,
we need to gather materials, equipment, people to help,
and we are going, you know, without the main inquisitions, like, sort of help.
And they're going to go follow this star chart to probably find whatever this weapon is that Pontius has been looking for.
They're about to leave, and Eisenhower, like, speaks to the few of, like, you know,
He speaks some of the crew, like nail and some of the other ones, Medea, of course.
But he finally goes to speak to Kretzia, who actually has gone into the ship of Ravner to go check in as a doctor on a very, very special patient.
And I'm not going to lie, this is like a thing where I read this initially.
And I wasn't that sad about it.
But the more I come back to these novels, the more I get like sadder about this sort of next scene, D.K.
would you be so kind to read this next excerpt for what is currently going on?
Sure.
Cretzia appeared at my side.
What are you going to do, Gregor?
She asked.
I won't turn the machines off.
Not yet.
My mind's too full of that bastard glaw.
I'll make a decision afterwards.
I turned to go.
She can probably hear you,
Krechia said suddenly.
Do you think so?
Kretia shrugged and smiled.
I don't know.
There's every chance she can.
and if she can't, does it matter? Does what matter? Tell her, Gregor, now before you go, tell her for goodness sakes. Do the right thing by one of us at least. She left me alone and I sat down beside Elizabeth Scott. And then, though I don't know to this day if she ever heard or understood, I told her all the things I should have told her years before.
Eisenhorn tells her that he loved her and he confesses all his feelings and obviously they could never really be together because it's never going to happen anymore.
I don't get like, it's not like everyone finds this moment super sad, but I kind of find it sadder if you like, because I've read all the books together in one go and it's that thing of like they never got a chance.
and obviously he can't really be with the woman that he loves
and he never will be anymore because
it's understood that she'll never recover
it's not going to happen
so he kind of says goodbye to her
and that's what again
another friend another ally is basically dead
this is
where they so they've done this
and they're getting geared up and they're ready to go
take on Pontius Glaw
they separate for a little bit so some of them like the elder interestingly like they agree to like fight alongside
ravenor goes to get his own like extra like men and gear it's interesting like because they and also isan
does the same thing they're going to gather some more people to help them assault whatever world this pontius glor is
looking for his weapon on in the seance they were trying to work out like more about the mystery
And this is where Amos asks Eisenhorn to, like, there's no choice.
There's writings and tome and like language written on the Pontius Glor's seance that they viewed that they can't understand.
So Amos asks Eisenhorn to use the malice codicium, to which Eisenhorn warns him about being safe with it.
You know, they've seen prohibitive materials before, but Amos says he's going to be careful.
Using the malice codicium, Amos decifers the language and discovers this kind of mythology about this.
On Gaul, there is a dead demon king and his mausoleum, a demon king called Yassiril, who you'll never see in Warhammer.
Like, it's a, it's a weird, it's written in a language that's not really understood by anyone, obviously, other than using the war.
It describes it as a war
That was billions of years in the making
An unending war
And buried in this tomb
Alongside the dead demon king Ysirial
Is his bark
A weapon which is best described as his ship
His chariot
And with this weapon
If Pontius Glor gets his hands upon it
All futures will end
Ah so his bark is worse than his plate eh
Shut off
As in B.A.R.
Q you. I'm sorry, that was a little strong.
That is the reaction I was absolutely looking for.
Okay, you're doing your own slot.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Hey, hey, wait a minute, that's stolen valor.
You have to make a joke from the British office.
I'd like the American one more, actually.
Yeah, because it's actually better in people who say otherwise are wrong.
I haven't seen either one.
Side note, Americans don't like it if someone's like a full on loser.
Whereas in the British one, the guy who's Michael Scott's character, like everyone thinks he's a loser, whereas like Michael Scott's character has some kind of thing where they feel sorry for him, they'll join in at the end or like, you know, they kind of love, you know, they love Michael Scott.
But the British one does not have that.
We really like it if someone's a fucking loser.
We just love it.
Is it Michael Scott, like, isn't it Rich, isn't it Ricky Jervase in that movie or in that show?
Yeah, is Ricky Jaze's character, yeah.
Well, that's easy then, because they already cast a loser.
Oh!
I liked so many of Ricky's projects before.
I don't know what.
Do idiot abroad.
I don't want to see an idiot abroad.
Do more idiot abroad.
I love Carl Pilkington.
No one knows what I'm talking about, but it's fine.
That's all right.
That's all right.
More people know what you're talking about than what I said earlier, so it's okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So at this point, Eisenhorn's like, good work, Amos.
where's the Mars codicium?
To which Amos kind of like
pretends he doesn't have it
and he's like Amos
like it's here
it's like oh my bad
Eisenhorn kind of
like he looks at Amos
and he looks like a bit dishevelled
like something's clearly wrong with him
he gets Amos to speak
and he realizes Amos got all this information
about the demon king and his chariot weapon
because he's been speaking to someone
who's been on
answering him, he's been speaking to Cherubaya.
Oh, shit.
Oh, great.
Oh, Christ.
Amos is a bit, like, feverish, but he's okay.
But Eisenhorn says, you're going to stay in the Medicaid for a while now, because you need to recover.
Like, you're, you've gone a bit too far.
And he's, he's like, okay, okay.
But, like, he's still, like, slightly rocking back and forward.
He's an old man as well.
Poor old guy.
but you know he's not saying most
perturbatory at this point
he's a bit he needs help and
I think it's um
not carraswall it's
Alina Koi who was the
blank earlier who was in the
Goodwin Estate when they fleed she was like
help and look after him
as the group is divided
one of the stations they're getting resources at
Eisenhorn enters
and Medea
confesses and like
and also Amos and the other they say
we gave you a location to Fishig
because Fishig sent a message saying he wanted to join in.
He said he wanted to talk and he's
like he's had a think on things.
So they, which Eisenon doesn't like,
but they, he agrees to like meet.
What's like, he's ambushed in some way.
Fishing is there and he's like,
I just want to talk and I just want to talk.
I'm sorry how it ended before.
And they notice they're like they're kind of being surrounded.
what appears to burst into the room with full-on inquisitorial guards
is good old Heldane, who used to be common as Vokes guy,
in a very strict Puritan,
and a certain inquisitor who maybe took Eisenhorn prisoner
and almost killed him on Cadia,
who is now his own master had died,
and now the grand master, Osmer, is here,
and he tells Eisenhorn he's once again under her he's got in and he's like I've got you
heretic osmar and Heldane storm the asen with Eisenhorn Medea and the others and they get them in chains
they begin their interrogations this is where fishig realizes he may be fucked up because
Is Heldane and Osma say something a bit strange?
They ask, where is the malas codicium?
Where is the demon host?
Which obviously, Fisich's told them everything.
And they don't mean, like, where is it so we can destroy it?
They mean, where is it we want it for us.
Fisig is like realizing maybe these Puritans aren't as Puritan as I thought.
And they tell him he's done, leave.
and then they start to drag out people.
They grab poor Maxilla and they start to like hurt him.
Maxilla plays along like in some way.
He like he renounces Eisenhorn says then he's nothing to them.
They're nothing.
Maxilla gets like injured.
Eisenhower gets like they're begging.
He,
Eisenhower is saying like if he don't release me something terrible,
you know,
we're trying to stop Pontius Glaw and you know of him.
Like if you don't release me,
something terrible is going to happen.
They don't care.
They want the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the
demon host for themselves.
Except they start to hear a ticking noise.
It gets a bit louder.
Suddenly the chamber's doors, like, crunch in, and cherubail has clearly been summoned.
Ha!
So, Terubail once again rockets in, and pandemonium explodes.
I love the idea that he's doing like the Black Adam thing where it's the rock and he's just like,
like Adam Warlock and he's just like flying in there, you know, in a sea of heat wave.
Essentially, yeah.
This is one of the things where Heldane and Osma, they had talked a lot of game about demon hosts.
Not many people, not many inquisters have actually seen demon hosts.
And this is where they realize they are like, oh, fuck.
Like, we are really outclass.
here.
It debilitates into a fight between,
it's like a three-way fight.
Maxilla,
at one point,
he uses his,
he on the floor,
he uses his digital ring,
and he just blast Osmer's,
like,
head off.
Like,
he did blast him apart.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
Okay.
He said,
fuck you.
In a, like,
I'm going to,
I'm going to,
I'm summarizing this quite quickly,
but, like,
Tribal starts,
like, killing loads of the inquisitorial age.
Heldane, I think at one point,
catches fire, so he starts
burning, he runs away.
Troy Bale
starts to taunt Eisenhorn saying,
which he often does in the novel as being like,
I've missed you, Gregor.
Like, he's always whispering to him delicately, being like,
you know, almost like lovers in
some way that are like whispered
creepy tones. And he says, like, you know,
fight with we have such fun together,
Eisenhorn. He's like,
and it's getting closer.
He gets,
he gets distracted against
engage in other fights
at this point
maxilla who's been injured
he gets taken out
and as he's dying
poor maxilla he gets killed
and it's his last words
he says to isnhorn
I didn't mean what I said before
when he like disown
like disown them
he said he didn't mean that
he like he truly loved all of the group
and he dies
poor maxilla once again is caught up in
Eisenhorn's
stuff I get gutted about Maxill's one
because he's, it's hard to do it justice in these episodes,
but he's such like a fun thing in the novels.
And it's just like,
he goes out in such an undignified, like, way.
Yeah.
Eisenhorn grabs his group and they try to flee as the SN is, like, burning up.
Following them outside the room,
a man holds a gun to Eisenhorn is Fisheg.
He tells him, like,
Oh, fischig.
He tells him, don't do this Eisenhorn.
renounce what you've done.
I can save you, to which Eisenhorn says he doesn't need saving. He's not going to do it.
Fisich proceeds to shoot Eisenhorn in both of his legs and Eisenhorn like in the thighs and crumples him to the floor.
He has his pistol over him and he says, I'm sorry, like I'm so sorry.
Fishing goes to pull the trigger, except he falls to the ground dead because Medea with her father's pistols
crying tears like streaming down her face killed fishing.
Oh man.
This sucks.
This sucks.
Yeah.
Do we have anyone left?
I mean,
we got Medea,
but like,
yippee,
we have like,
oh yeah,
what?
Speaking of that.
No,
no,
no,
no,
don't.
Alina's still alive.
And then another one of the group,
Kara Swole,
he was like the kind of person who was at the beginning of episode,
and then she was at Ravanaugh earlier.
she arrives with Amos,
she's grabbed him from the Mediqay.
We learned that Amos looks really ill
because it was Amos who summoned Chirubail to save them.
And then Churubail bursts into the corridor
and is like, starts rocketing towards them.
And Eisenhorn's on the floor, he can't move.
His legs are like, his legs are dead.
He can't move them.
Yeah.
He's bleeding out.
Amos takes Eisenhorn staff.
he steps forward and uses this like his knowledge gained from the malice codician
like sort of discombobulates the demon host temporarily
like it sends it into spasm as he's shaking violently he tells eisenhorn
use the malice codicium
Eisenhorn using his own blood i think starts to draw out the binding ritual
to the only fresh body in the vicinity
to Godwin Fiscik's body.
Oh no.
The group bind Chubail as a haunting, smiling face.
It's looking at them in one of their small cutters,
a horn growing on its temple now.
Eisenhorn is stabilized.
They are running away,
and this is where he turns to his closest friend.
Brickie, would you be so kind to read
his closest friend, Bricky.
He doesn't say his closest friend.
Bricky, of course.
Would you be so close to the last X?
I know.
I know.
Uber, as if I had disturbed him in his sleep.
He opened his eyes.
They were his eyes again.
Bloodshot, old, blinking to focus without his eyeglasses.
His breath sounds were getting worse.
You hold on, I said.
He surprised me by suddenly taking my bloodstained hand
and gripping it.
tightly. He turned his head slowly and squinted at the demon host we had made together.
It sat, strapped into its seat on the other side of the aisle, head bowed and dormant.
Most, he whispered, most perturbatory. I was going to reply, but his grip had slackened.
His breathing had stopped. My oldest friend had gone. I sat back, gazing at the cabin roof.
The sensations that I had been blocking swept in and over.
overwhelmed me.
I felt frail as if I was made of paper.
I knew I had lost a huge quantity of blood.
The pain in my legs was like fire,
but it was nothing compared to the pain in my heart.
You know,
it's really sad that Amos dies,
but like that,
that last line is such like a 14-year-old edgy moment.
I almost think,
every time I reread it,
I always think,
could he said something else?
But I guess, like,
it is his,
like,
he does say it a lot.
in the novels.
I think he was,
it's,
I don't know,
but I,
I'm sure it's fine.
It's,
it is,
but like,
like,
what is this?
This is the red wedding,
the book?
Jesus Christ.
Yeah,
everybody's dead,
man.
Fishing is a demon host.
Amos is dead.
Like,
there's no,
like,
I am,
I am not,
I,
look,
I don't know how this ends,
but I am not expecting
good things for Eisenhorn
at the end of this book.
I'm going to say,
guys,
what,
um,
A question to bounce of this is what character deaths do you, like, still think about?
I mean, I mean, you know, you know me.
I think about, I think about Zara all the time.
That one always gets to me.
Oh, yeah.
That one always gets me.
But, like, you know, I mean, that's such as one thing.
I find this series particularly gutting because most of them kind of survive, like most of the books until this one.
Yeah, I was about to say, this series, you mean this book, they all fucking dead, man.
Yeah, everybody's gone.
In a short grouping, we lose Beckwin, we lose Fisig, we lose Maxilla, we lose Amos.
Like, we lose so many people.
It's so horrible.
Also, Shai says, oh, look, once again, we are doing something for the good of mankind,
while loyalists dying left and right, summoning warporers, losing friends,
possessing loyal servants of the emperor with demons, all to fix the problem Eisenhorn
caused to begin with.
No way to prevent this, says the Inquisitor to whom.
this regularly happens.
Yeah, this one like,
yeah.
It always hurts to come to come back to this, though, but like, we're going to round
out towards the end right here because surprisingly in this novel, like, the ending is
almost feels quite abrupt because it, like, most, this is like most of the novel now.
So we next, like, kind of like this weird fast forward a few weeks.
We see Eisenhorn.
It's like, it's kind of like a back and forward scene.
we see that he is like slowly walking but like limping.
Like hydraulic sounds are emerging from his legs.
In his attempt to not have a long recovery time and be out of the action,
Eisenhorn with the help of Kretzia has crude biometrics placed onto his body.
You know the image where he's bald?
They have to shave his head to make sure the implants can go into the back of his neck and spine.
which attach to these leg braces that allow him to walk again.
So that way, that is forever now with like the image of Eisenhorn.
He kind of like almost like slowly trudges and limps everywhere.
He is forever basically wounded.
The different teams have arrived on the world of ghoul.
And there are several different kill teams.
Some of them are comprised entirely of the ALDA.
And they're working in tandem to.
attack the forces of Pontius Glor.
As should be said, the world of ghoul gives off a sort of strange feeling very, very similar,
if you remember to the first time Eisenhorn saw the Sir Ruthie how the angles of the
world don't make sense.
And there's almost like a fog of like green, like smog everywhere.
There are different kilts that we see like Harlan Nail, Medea and other characters.
They're in one of the kill teams and they,
start killing several groups of
Viserian Janissaries
who are obviously part of Pontius's
different groups.
They start to walking through
what is described as a cyclopean
city of glassy black rock.
They enter into this like a smaller,
underverse chamber area
where there is more civilization
built to a scale
way beyond the human size
that stretches far beyond the horizon.
It is truly like that thing of where you go,
the scale is like unfathomal to the human mind.
Eisenhorn, with some of the members around him,
so he started to chase and follow the trail of glor towards the tomb
that is within the center, the tomb of the demon king, Yiddris,
or so Yisis or something.
And within the like smaller chambered area,
not only chamber, but like, it's weird because there's like a ceiling,
but it's like a civilization under a ceiling,
which had another sing above it is a bit of a mind fuck.
They, finally, Eisenhorn, in his like crude biometrics,
like he's in pain at every moment,
that embittered look upon his faces,
you know, a face that cannot smile looks even more sour.
He is heartbroken and angry.
And in the middle, he sees what is described
as an almost literally undescribable black geometric shape
that repulses him just to look at.
And he's seen some pretty hefty, like, crazy stuff.
He, again, like, skipping some things out,
he makes it to where he gets to the weapons kind of anti-chamber or, like, entrance.
And he sees the metallic, kind of sculpted form of Pontius Glor.
And it's at this point when he, like, there's a small conversation between the two,
because they, like, Glor is not.
really like, you know, oh, my nemesis,
Gloria is more of a consequence of Eisenhorn's decisions.
He's not someone who's like, he's always been there in the background batting against me.
That is, Glor is a mistake for Eisenhorn.
And he makes a realization that in some way,
this wasn't really about Eisenhorn.
The weapon, like the only way to access it,
the reason Pontius was hunting and killing Eisenhorn's group,
was because he actually needed the malice codician.
And guess who's brought that with him?
Oh, Eisenhower.
Except.
It's just...
Behind him, Eisenhorn is not alone,
because the enslaved, fissig body of Trubail floats up.
Except Pontius Glor has his own demon host,
which declares it's even stronger than Trubail.
The two demon hosts slammed together in like a kind of,
scratching homelessman brawl
and they tumble off the edge
Eisenhorn
draws his staff and
Barbaris Sater and
moves to fight Glor
they actually engage in what I describe
as a relatively short duel
because Eisenhorn again
he can't beat this guy physically
so he uses his best weapon his mind
he takes out the
malad's codicium and does the thing
that he should have done
from the very beginning when he first
saw it. He proceeds to rip the pages of the malice codicium and toss the pages into the air.
Pontius Glor screams and tries to desperately grab the pages for the weapon he needs to activate,
to which Eisenhorn takes advantage and he stabs and just basically kills him.
That is kind of, at this point then, it just sort of derails into almost like a historical recounting,
which says Gregor Eisenhorn was at these events at this time and has not really been seen since.
All we know is there is this like man who has this cane who walks in like with a kind of strange gate in his step,
shaved head, and there was a floating figure beside him.
And he is basically rogue.
And that is the end of Eisenhorn Hereticus.
How did you guys feel about that?
That one's a...
That sucks.
man everyone's yeah that was awful what do you mean how do i feel that that feels very much also like
well you kind of reap what you sew buddy like oh man i sure do hate the sewing can we go back to the
reaping part or i like to the sewing part yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah i like the sewing part a lot
more yeah the reaping part not so much i don't like that i don't know it's strange like
what i enjoy about it is um a little people who kind of maybe reap
read the first and the second one, they get the impression of like, oh, they're just trying
to make this guy look super cool. You need the third book to understand, like, they brought
you in. Yeah. Then you can see the consequence of being the hash, you know, the quote,
cool guy. This is what happens to the cool guy who's like, you know, I know, I'm the, you know,
I can handle it. I'm doing it for that. This is not a cool guy story. No.
The story of Eisenhorn is a tragedy. It is a, what the war has.
a universe will do to you.
It is a story of brutality and lost love and just that you will lose everybody,
everybody that you care about.
It is, in the weird sense, though, like, it's that thing of, you know, like, some
media is, like, quite sad or, like, it's like the, I think in the movie, like,
saving private Ryan, like, spoilers for people listening, uh, lost people, most of the guys
die in saving private Ryan.
And it's, like, kind of sad the movie, but in some way, it was like, it was like,
was so good the journey along the way.
You kind of have to respect it.
Oh, well, I mean, like, I'm, I'm more than, like, I don't actually think it actually sucks.
Like, I'm sure it's very properly with the deaths and all that kind of stuff.
But, like, man, but like, also simultaneously, like, damn, maybe, you know what?
Maybe Shai was right.
Maybe he should have put a book down.
Yeah.
No, you definitely.
It is making the point that all of the deaths are his fault.
As in like, I don't think maybe people would disagree in that.
Obviously, that's up to interpretation.
Because technically it's, you know, it's not, it is the enemy's fault.
But in some way, the enemy is allowed to exist because of his mistakes.
Yeah.
A lot of it is the consequences of your actions.
But that's, guys, that is, that is book three of the Eisenhorn.
That's the last book of the trilogy.
And then there is another book called, well, I think it's a novella actually.
It's mercifully shorter.
And that is called Magos.
And that is a multi-character P.O.V.1 rather than just an Eisenhorn one.
Which I really like that one as well.
That one's even more like it's equally depressing, but in a different way.
But this, that is Eisenhorn, guys.
Has Eisenhorn?
Yeah, it doesn't sound like a bad book.
It's just like, like, shy said, it's just like, boy, this is, this is a very consequences of your action kind of book for old Eisenhorn.
because the first two books I was like, oh, yeah, I'd be a radical.
Like, look at all this cool stuff that Eisenhorn's do.
Oh, yeah, nothing could possibly go wrong.
And then everything proceeds to go wrong.
And it's like, oh, yeah, okay.
You know, I will admit, like, the everything goes wrong thing I wasn't so sure about.
But, like, wow, everything, like, went wrong.
Yeah.
Everything that could go wrong because of his actions in the first two books does go wrong.
Like, wow.
Yikes.
Like, like, everything went wrong.
Like, holy hell.
We really 180ed this thing.
Holy shit.
I think this is why a lot of people do enjoy this.
Like, a lot of people do recommend to what, to read the Eisenhorn.
Because it's just very Warhammer.
Like, it's very Warhammer.
Oh, yeah.
It just makes you feel kind of weirdly sound about it.
Yeah, yeah.
Love, now I'd love to see a series on like a Netflix adaptation or something of Eisenhorn.
And, yeah, because next time.
there'll be another episode
we start to get into
the king and yellow stuff
that's literally
what the next book is about
so
oh yes
and then that
next book leads directly
into the Beckwin series
so it's all
and it's all tied together
they're like they all
you don't have to read
all the Eisenhorn ones
to read Beckwin
but it makes it so much
more enjoyable
because he is like
featuring it parts in that
so
I feel like I remember
there being rumored
is that Netflix was working on an Eisenhorn TV show or something.
Like a mini series, like a special or something, right?
Didn't they joke about Kubrick directing it originally back when he was still alive?
Oh, man, that would be a trip.
There was an Eisenhorn series, like, not with Amazon in the works for a while, but that went away.
Because I think then it turned into this Amazon deal.
So that was going to be with another.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it's a pretty good choice for a start.
series.
Mm-hmm.
Like, as far as that introduced you to what the 40K series will do to you.
Like what that universe does?
Yeah.
Very quickly.
I mean, even just the first book, it has everything you need.
So it's a good one.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Dan, I'm gonna, you son of a bitch.
Yeah.
Yes.
Thank you guys for listening to that episode.
I hope everyone enjoyed it.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
We did.
Good times, fun times.
Two hours in.
Good things right there.
No, it's all good.
Um, Hal, I'll arrive at your house soon and I'll shoot you in both of your legs and then.
And then we know what'll happen then.
Prepare your kneecaps.
Repair your kneecaps and die and become a demon.
Yeah, exactly. Perfect.
All right. Thanks for watching everyone.
Hal, thanks for coming by.
And, um, I appreciate it.
I'm excited for the next episode.
Yeah.
That's the three hour long finale.
H-p-phing.
