We cover the massive orbital drop, the brutal mechanized slaughter, and the grueling four hours that culminated in a single blood-red flare illuminating the sky. When the "reinforcements" finally opened fire, the Iron Hands, Raven Guard, and Salamanders were locked in an inescapable crossfire that would leave over 90% of their deployed forces dead or captured. Welcome everyone to another episode of the Adeptus Ridiculous podcast.
It's me, D.K., with my far superior hosts, Kerioth and Bricky,
who are going to introduce themselves now because I don't have a fun little segue for you.
Yeah.
The self-deprecation straight off the bat is crazy.
I had to. I didn't have a fun little segue.
Self-defercame humor is unbecoming, D.K., it's unbecoming.
Oh, well.
You got to be better than me.
who sucks. Well, then, hey, here are my two loser co-hosts who are going to introduce themselves,
I guess. Better? There you go. That's more. I'll be honest, I think you've been hanging out
with me too much. We've been recording too much. You're letting the British is just seeping into
you. You go straight for the self-deprecation. That's not the American way in my experience.
Oi, Govna, welcome to the adeptist. Okay, just introduce yourself and get this thing started.
This is crazy. This is crazy. All right. Put this man in the Legion
of the damned.
That is exactly where I was going to go as well.
No head?
So no head.
Well,
well,
we're not,
that's fan,
mostly fan theories,
so we're not quite there.
But,
you know,
it's happening.
Yeah,
so,
oh yeah,
but hi,
I'm Bricky.
Hi,
Ricky.
Karioth.
I'm very excited about Legion of the Damned.
And I,
I said it was going to happen,
and it happened.
That's not how that works.
I guessed wildly.
And it turned out.
I was about to say,
I was about to say,
you,
you threw a dart and you just happened to hit it properly.
I don't,
I don't like,
I don't like this,
but, um,
no, uh,
autumn,
autumn,
autumn,
uh,
came, uh,
last week.
And, uh,
there were many,
many of things.
Shai will,
will be, uh,
annoying and be like,
there was their logo when it's literally a skull on fire,
like that isn't relatable to like,
half the factions in 40,
also bananas
bananas
Bannas
Custodias is getting a new
Codex and they got some new terminators
And the codex
The codex is just like
Fuck you use the 30K ones
We don't care anymore
No
We're not
We're done with like
Splitting everything
Just here take these
Be happy
Leave us alone
Also new Combat Patrol
for them is
I looked at that and went
so is that just is that literally just
a thousand points or is it not that far
off that it feels like
it feels like there's a good hefty
number of of lads in there
points wise it does
it does
uh
DK to explain
the custodies got buffed substantially
to make them more elite
and so they move faster
they're tougher they have more health
they hit
Oh, brother.
They shoot harder.
Were they already good?
They were, but they were good for like, maybe not the best reasons.
Like, you could take 18 Terminators and just murder people.
Now you could take them in squads of one to three because they're insane now.
Oh, they look so.
Also, there's the Terminators.
I think the Terminators are a monumental improvement in every capacity except they don't have cakes.
And that is a problem.
Oh, they would go really hard with like a nice flowy red cape, wouldn't they?
They still are really great, though.
That's really dope.
All of them are.
Also, what are the winged guys called again where I tried to make a detachment of just them
because I thought they looked so cool?
And it was a disaster.
That's the one.
I knew it started with a V, but they look great.
Yeah, it's actually rather fascinating.
You know, this is people who are like games workshop are,
making all the new minis points cheaper to sell more minis people are in shambles right now
because everything is going up in points.
Oh no.
You hate it when you're right.
You don't want to be right in this situation, do you?
No, I do because then you've got to buy less models.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's always a positive.
The less that you have to spend, the better, frankly.
Although that being said, there are so many people who,
are going to buy that kill team box purely for the Legion of the Damned without caring about
anything else that's in there, which is fair because they're pretty good.
That's the problem there, though.
I was thinking about that.
I mentioned it when I was doing the watch along.
I was like, damn, those new orc knobs look amazing.
These New Legion of Dam look incredible.
It's too bad.
They're tied to a $250 box because it also comes with Tuan and stuff.
And so if you're like, I just want Legion of the Damned, you either better find a friend or they done got your ass.
Yeah, it's too.
Oh, man.
Yeah, that's tough if you just want Legion of the Dam, but you got to buy a $250 box with terrain and other stuff in it that you might not want.
Oof.
But on the upside, if you do buy that box, the orcs are class and one of them is holding two custom shooters.
And he's got the sickest goggles ever.
Hell yeah he does
And his boss pole is also a gun
So let's face it
You're not
You're not losing out by getting all those orcs
Because the orcs also look excellent
It's just they're kind of overshadowed
By Legion of the Dam showing up
For the first time in
Is it like four editions?
Five editions?
I can't even remember that last time they were a thing
They were usable in seventh
And they were usable a bit
As like a neutered version in 8th
Before they were then legends
in eighth.
Okay.
Although shy is right, box splitting is
box splitting is
box splitting pretty common.
Even I have split boxes before and I have like
two friends.
Oh yeah.
This is like a $250 box.
Even if you're splitting the box, it's like $120.
Yeah, it's still.
Like $125 for in a sense
a squad of base marines.
Yeah, that's true.
That's fair.
That's fair.
And I mean, the terrain is cool.
And I don't get me wrong.
I don't get me wrong.
is that but I think I think this is definitely getting you I'll buy the boxes I want both the orcs and the Legion of the Damned but yeah hell yeah hell yeah hey did you like that banner maybe you want to support us head over to patreon dot com slash adeptist ridiculous where you get access to the discord bloopers if they happen $15 to get you access to all of our posters in crispy digital form oh hey what's that crispy digital posters shy what's the new poster that I don't even I haven't even seen it this is new to this is new to
me as it is to you two.
Okay, and we have
Oh, brother.
The skull throw my...
What is this?
Oh, man, that subtitle is tough, dude.
I don't, I don't like that
that subtitle at all.
I'm not a fan of that one.
I am a certified weeb,
and even I'm kind of pulling my shirt collar.
Man, is this what I get for starting
to watch an anime over the weekend?
Whoa, what?
You what?
Cornet, non-dare cultist wifu.
Shia, it just looks like you.
What are we doing here?
All right.
All right.
Let's get, let's get going.
Go buy the merch, do the things, stick that out of the poster.
Kiriath.
But, Lord, right.
I've got a quote for you, mostly because it's a very well-known quote.
And it perfectly encapsulates what we're talking about today.
So, unbeknownst to the emperor, the roots of corruption had already spread deeper and wider than he had imagined,
with fully half of the legions of Starte's secretly repleting their allegiance.
to Horace. This is the story
of the events that followed. It is
an account of death and S word
of war to overshadow
all wars and the dawn
of a new age. It is called
The Massacre.
Oh boy.
S word. I caught that.
Yeah, the S word.
On other channels
you might be confused, but here on Adrick,
you know what the S word is.
You can't be, you can't just be
throwing that word around whatever you like.
So, Rogal Dawn watches a video with nothing more than ghosts. They kill one another, explosive rounds tearing through Saramite effortlessly, covering the shooter in blood. He digs his foot into the already dead body and fires another shot to ensure that they're gone. In the window behind him, an explosion detonates on a world below, and the world is turned to ash. His brother's voice says defiantly, you rememberances say you want to see war? Well, here it is.
missiles fall like rain on this planet and the surface screams before it dies.
Now there is no way for the events of Isvan 3 to be kept a secret considering how the aftermath went.
A perfect plan from the perfect sun crumbled and the evidence of treachery would waste no time making its way to the Imperium.
The foundation would shake but there is a belief that the structure would still hold.
Unbeknownst to the tactical minds of Rogal Dawn and Ferris Manus, the walls had already been breached
and the loyalists weren't planning a retaliatory attack.
Instead, they were performers going through the motions
that the warmaster had set up long in advance
and the curtain was about to fall.
First, it was two loyalists brothers fighting one another,
then it was a cleansing of the ranks of those who'd already fallen,
and now the final act was about to play out.
One of open warfare.
So today, we are going to go over the events
on the world of Isvan 5 that have become known to the Imperium
as the drop site massacre.
So we're mostly going to be focusing on the event itself
and not necessarily the, frankly,
berygillion subplots in the various novels about it,
like Fulgim or the First Heretic.
We're going to be leaning into the Horace Heresy Black Books
and journal Tactica books.
There's a lot going on,
and there's also a lot of contradicting numbers and such.
So we're just going to try our best to keep it approachable
and like comprehensible.
Ah, yes, the 200 billion casualties
in the Warhammer fiction, eh?
Only, only 1% of the planet
died at 300 trillion dead.
We all understood what you meant, yep.
Alternatively, they were at war for three centuries
and the death toll had reached nearly 20,000.
What's he talking about?
what's happening.
So, before we go to Isfam 5, we've got to take a quick trip back in time to Isfant 3.
It feels like a long time ago, right?
Well, back then, at the height of everything, Horace was very confident for a few reasons.
He was confident he would be able to successfully take out those who are bound to defect in his own legion,
and his brother's legions, of course, but he was also confident in the one brother who could not make it to the festivities.
Now, as we mentioned before, Idleon was representing the
Emperor's children during the whole thing because
Fulgroom was busy.
Fulgrim had actually gone off to check in
on his brother Ferris Manus
and this check-in was supposed to go
a very specific way.
Horace knew that Fulgrim and Ferris were
exceptionally close and he was so
confident that the
I always, I can't pronounce, the
Phoenician, there we go, that was going to be able
to coax Ferris on their side.
Yeah, we got to go back to it. You got to
go back. You said that like you thought it was the right way to say it and it wasn't the right
way to say it. Chocolate rice cakes. I need to speak. Sorry, Kyrie. No, it's fine. I can't get that word.
Phoenician. Thank you. Okay. Phoenician. Okay, I've got it.
Come back to the rice cakes. That's one of those ones that I've only ever read because I don't
tend to do audiobooks. So, you know, when you read a word for the first time, you bring
goes, well, that's how that's pronounced.
And then that's, oh, yeah.
That's, that's, that's, that's, that's, we all have, one of those.
We all have a lexicon of words we mispronounce like that, you know.
I'm not looking to make fun of you or anything like that, because I've done that plenty
myself.
However, um, I'm doing my very best to, we're all teaching each other something new here, very, very
helpful.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
We've all been there, yeah.
Don't worry.
I mean, it happens with me a lot, frankly, but it would have less head on that the best to be
honest.
So the Phoenician was going to be able to coax Ferris over to their side, and he pretty much kept a seat warm for him.
All his plans going forward had been ironed out and considered as if the iron hands were fully on their side.
So Horace was a little bit surprised when Fulgrim returned at the height of everything going on on Isfant 3 to say that he had objectively failed his mission.
Instead of being all in on the ruinous powers, Ferris Manus was disgusted at Fulgrim's offer,
and was so enraged that he jewelled his brother.
The fighting did result in Ferris being knocked out,
his iron hands being devastated,
and Fulgrim retrieving forgebreaker,
which he had made for the Gorgon ages ago before escaping,
but it was at the cost of his own sword,
Fireblade, which is what Ferris gave to Fulgrim ages ago too.
More importantly, the biggest cost was the element of surprise.
Ferris was down, but not out,
and it wouldn't be long before word got out about the oncoming heresy.
And if we remember, a forgerald as bad as it possibly could.
It was, I mean, that's one of those things where that felt like a full groom doing the whole incredible arrogance thing, whilst definitely not fully engaging his brain.
Through, through all the books for the Horace Heresy, I don't remember ever once thinking, yeah, no, I'm pretty sure Ferris would go along with this.
You just never seen the type.
No, like, I feel like Ferris and Dorn have some.
some similarities.
But like for Dorn, it's much more like, oh, just like pure loyalty, you know,
like like on flinching lawfulness or whatever.
And for Ferris, I just feel like he's just like, he's just like a wall, which is
ironic because that's kind of what Dorn would be.
But like like he's just like like like, almost like bloodheaded.
He's like like, like, why would I do that?
That's stupid.
You're stupid.
That kind of vibe, you know?
Even though it's his best.
friend, it's like, no, dude, you got no chance.
And that you call you want a chance.
It's crazy.
It's a kind of best friend who like, hey, man, I'm going to go do this one thing later.
It's like, that's stupid.
Only idiots would do that.
And he's still like your best friend.
But he's just not going to sugar, he just won't sugarcoat it.
It's like, that's dumb.
Less like, less stoic and more just stubborn and with no filter, which is, you know,
why we like him or liked him.
Spoiler alert.
Oh, ruin the episode.
Now I'll never know.
For Horace, this was a bit of a numbers game and a confidence issue at this point with those siding with him.
I mean, he was pretty smitten with Mortarian, Angron and Fulgrim, but one of them was proving to be a bit more reckless than expected, and the other had failed in what he believed was an assured win.
The others at this point were also kind of on shaky ground.
Alfarious and Omagon weren't the most trustworthy.
Funnily enough,
understatement of the century.
Coors was in the enemy of my enemy camp
when it came to going against the emperor
and his night lords were a bit renegade at best.
Perciarabo was probably going to be fine
as he was busy purging some of his own ranks separately
while the atrocity was occurring,
but Ferris Manus was what would have given Horace the edge.
With his fall, raw numbers would have been on his side
as well as some pretty good weaponry.
Unfortunately, for now, Ferris has a good head on his shoulders and Horace needed to restructure his plans.
Now, instead of Fulgrim, like having Fulgrim joined the ranks on Isfan 3 after arriving so late,
a frustrated Horus would order him to take his contingent of Empress children
and begin the preparations on the world of Isfan 5.
So with the aid of forces from the Dark Mechanicum,
Fulgrim selected an ancient fortress located on the world and began for example.
fortification efforts. Unlike Isvan 3, which was heavily populated, Isvan 5 was lifeless. The ancient ruins on
this world had been long abandoned and just left to decay into the black sands of the world.
Though many of the names and regions on the world didn't matter anymore, historically it would
become very important to know that the region of the world selected by Fulgrim was the Ergel
sector, and specifically the lip of the Ergal Depression. They'd set up trenches,
reinforce the ancient walls, established an anti-aircraft network, and implement a
void shield. This location would be set in the shadow of a dormant volcano and would form a plateau
where oncoming forces could be routed without much effort. Before long, this ancient fortress would
become a fully fortified command center for the traitors and the plateau in the shadow of the
volcano was transformed into the perfect killing field. I mean,
shadowing, etc. A little bit in the shadow of the volcano and all that.
also excellent
album name again
in the shadow of the volcano
yeah that's that's pretty good
I don't think we're beating in broad daylight
with dull knives yet
oh man I forgot all about that one
that's an Alzheimer
that is an Alzheimer
that that one that one goes crazy
now remember that
that little ship that took flight
well it would succeed
in its duty. Spoiler alert.
Nathaniel Garrow's escape culminated
in a conversation and warning
delivered directly to Rogal Dawn.
The biggest problem with this report is
that it strictly had to do with the rebellion
itself. There was still quite a bit
unknown as to what was actually happening
and it was still a bit of a red flag
to accuse Horace of anything bad
understatement of the century there
Passome, thanks.
Also, did you call the Eisenstein a little ship?
I don't think it's a very little ship.
I was going to say something.
but I just kind of let him roll past it.
That's a, man, if that's little, boy, my confidence is shaken.
We're going for polite understatement, is what we're going.
So the reaction of Rogel Dawn to the news would be quite negative,
and he would just strike Garrow for even considering dragging Horace's name through the mud.
Fortunately for Garrow, a Remembrancer had some receipts.
Mercedes-Ollison gave Dawn hollow-picked recordings of the events on Isfant 3, and upon seeing the warmaster giving the order, Dawn was shaken to his core.
Though it pained him to believe it, Horace had actually fallen, and so had three of his other brothers.
This posed an existential risk to the Imperium as a whole, and something needed to be done.
Dawn would present the facts to the Council of Terror and say that a decision had to be made.
Constantin Valdor would say that a decision was clearly made a long time ago, and this isn't
up to them to make a decision, it's up to them to come to terms with the inevitable.
There's nothing else to say. Horace needed to be struck down, but there was a fair bit of fear
as to what they would be getting into. And I've got a quote for you here, D.K.
You are concerned that we do not understand him well enough, Ascdorn. No, I'm worried that he
understands us too well. Valdoer pauses, I'm not a soldier. He is not being false. He is not
being false or modest. Crowle knows that despite his title, Valdoor is closer to a prince than a general.
I guard. I protect. Reaction in the moment of threat is the basis of my craft. It is what concerns me above all.
And Horace knows we are going to react, says Dorn. Valdor nods. He would have known that he could not
keep his rebellion secret. He would have planned for it. He levels his gun barrel gaze at Dorn.
You would have. Valdoer leans back looking up at the
the hollow ghosts.
Horace has pulled the trigger.
The bullet is in flight and he knows us,
or rather knows you and your kin.
The instincts built into you are his instincts.
He knows that we are going to leap and how.
That's not great for them.
That's not.
And how?
It's like, hooray, we should react.
And it's like, no, you can't react because he knows you're going to react.
What the fuck am I supposed to do, man?
Just sit here and eat shit?
Like, what?
we can't like we can't just go after him because he'll be expecting that but also we can't just leave him alone so we're going to have to go after him oh cool so so no options are good options brilliant um dawn would muster his men immediately and act without much hesitation to organize an assault against horace the longer he was out there the bigger the risk to terror itself utilising the astronomericon a call to arms will be broadcast with the authority of the emperor of mankind himself it was
would condemn the actions of Horus and those who align themselves with him,
and would be appointed order to show no mercy bringing them all to justice.
The notice would be received and acknowledged by the following legions.
Brace yourselves, if you're not fully familiar with this scenario.
The iron warriors, the word bearers, the night lords, the iron hands, the salamanders,
the ravengard, and the Alpha Legion.
All of these legions were pretty damn close to Isfant 3, all things considered,
and they'd be able to redirect themselves there quickly.
Oh, really?
Bad.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank God's.
Yeah.
Thank the emperor indeed, Bricky.
So true.
Golly.
What a tragedy would have been, if not.
Sounds like a swift decisive blow is on the way and this whole mess should be cleared up in a matter of a few weeks.
Lovely.
I'm a very, I'm very, you know, I got to say, I'm,
I miss when we called him the emperor of mankind beloved by all.
I really liked that line.
I miss it.
You should start using it more then.
Well, you know, I can.
I have all the 30 Kastodys now.
You do.
You are the privileged.
You know, it feels so good to be vindicated for buying 30 Kastodies
because they look super awesome and I want to paint them up
and then them becoming part of the codex.
Now I can go in there and start saying, I save on twos, beloved by all.
You simply must.
Every tournament you go to, henceforth, you simply must.
God, I've just seen Schei's comment.
Well, he is white.
Let's carry on, shall we?
All right, shy.
God damn it.
Of course, the positioning of the positioning of
these legions was not a coincidence. And this was the culmination of a long play that Horace had
had for quite some time now. Let's take a quick moment to reiterate the play that he'd made just so we can
get the true scope of just how awfully bad this all is. It's believed with a heavy dose of
retrospect that Horace had been setting up these dominoes since the moment he was given the ability
to shuffle folks around in the galaxy, whether he knew it or not, especially those who were
the most loyal to the emperor. Horace knew that getting the role of war
master was something that Lionel Johnson wasn't a huge fan of and did everything he could to undermine
him every step of the way. Because of this, Horace ordered him and his dark angels to the shield
worlds, not only due to the distance, but also because it would be a quagmire that would keep them
occupied for months. Sanguineous presence was always a big boost to the morale of the Imperium,
and he would be an unacceptable variable for Horace's plans. So in order to combat that, he would
order him and the blood angels to the
Cygnus system to take care of some
quote unquote Zenos issues
when in actuality it was
a whole lot of demonic
warp bullshit
under the pretense of
have you read that by the way
the stuff with the blood angels in the
in the Cygnus system
I don't know that I've read
a single Blood Angels book actually
I can't read
that now this is going to be frustrating because I can't
remember the name of the novel but it's
that the way they used chaos for that and the way that it was all weird constructs,
like the ground itself and like monsters made out of like lamp posts and concrete,
was really cool.
And I don't think they've ever really done anything like that again,
which is a shame because it was,
it was different.
It was unique.
It was interesting.
That's,
I've been playing a lot of control resonant recently because I got,
I got an early code for it.
Um,
that sounds like that.
like occasionally there's just like
relax shy
like like the idea of like oh it's a resonant entity
and it's like taking the the
form of like a lamp post
it's a very like SCP-esque thing
and so it kind of has that same
that same vibe that's cool
I can't wait for the game here also don't worry shy
it's very good it's up I think it might be
one of my game of the years oh man I can't wait for that
I found I finished control this year anyway
continue kirioth
Control's great, right?
It's like not perfect.
Oh, it's phenomenal, dude.
It's really good.
I think this is better than control.
It's like, it's still got some jank, but it's really good.
Okay.
Oh, hell, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so before I forget, the novel I'm thinking of is fear to tread.
It's that one.
Ew, I've heard of that one.
I've been told that one's pretty good.
Yeah, that's on the, unfortunately, I have to, I have to go through like,
devastation of ball and all those other books first.
Yeah, it's a really good blood angel book.
but first get these four other ones, because these ones are better.
The never-ending list of reading recommendations.
So under the pretense of taking care of an ongoing or concursion,
Gilliman and the Ultramarines would be sent to Calh to sort that out,
preventing yet another exceptionally loyal prime arc from being around.
And of course, the Space Wolves and Lehman Rus had been rendered virtually inoperable
for the events that were about to transpire.
Outside of the more explicit movement of troops, Horace planning had made,
itself clear when it came to his favouritism. Plenty of cool new toys were not spread out properly
among all the legions, and plenty of those who were real close to Horus got some sick new Sakharin
tanks, sabre scout tanks and some armour patterns before others. But that was then. This is now, and
right now, Dawn is thinking about this and a bunch of other things. All the responses to the calls
to arms were viewed by the Council of Terror as proof of the loyalty of these legions in an unwavering manner.
Hmm, well...
About that.
Now, to be fair, at least that is what they said externally.
Dawn wasn't certain.
The fact that Horace had fallen cemented in his mind that everyone was potentially at risk
and he would seek out Regent Malcador himself to confide in him about his fears.
Dad was a bit busy at the moment, so it was up to Malcador and Dawn to act in his stead,
and both of them had a lot of doubts regarding the others.
Dawn knew he was a traitor, like not a traitor in a trust me bro,
I'm like Mr. Terra himself, bro manner,
but he couldn't be assured of anyone else.
He was suspicious that some had either already secretly pledged to Horace directly
or had decided to potentially form their own sort of rebellion.
Despite all that, though, something still has to be done.
So the retribution fleet that would be ordered from those legions would be
massive. Ferris Manors would be put in the position of de facto field commander,
while the other two arriving primarks, Vulcan and Corvus Corax, would act in a supporting role.
Number-wise, we'll get to that at the very end, but there's a lot of conflicting information
regarding who was and who wasn't there. The iron hands were mangled by Fulgrim and had about
10,000 men they could spare. The Salamanders would have roughly 83,000, and the Ravenguard
would have close to 80,000. As for the other four,
loyalists, their numbers aren't known for a fairly specific reason.
Dawn would pledge a whole lot of Imperial Fist to this retribution fleet to go out towards
the Isfan system. We're talking about half of their number. Originally, this was going to be led
by Sigismund, but he would be spooked because of the words of a remembrance who believed that
Doom was coming to terror, so instead the fleet would be led by Captain Yashin Yonad. However,
their trip would be marred by extreme and highly suspicious warp storms.
These storms would be so brutal, they would claim about a third of the fleet, including Yonat's own ship.
Oh, my God, that's tough. Jesus.
That's, uh, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, really, really bad.
A third, that's gotta be, like, at least, like, 10,000 of their forces?
So about like sort of 16 or so
If they've sent half their number
And the lesions were about 100,000 strong
If we assume like 50K
Yeah, a third of that
Actually I actually disagree
We assume about 40K
Very nice
That gets a plus two for me
That does it now, excellent, excellent
I think Shai is about to disagree
I'll give it a plus point
five. It was definitely a plus, but
two. I like a good pun.
Well, sometimes. I'll be honest, sometimes you've
come up with any good ones and have absolutely slapped you
for it, so maybe it's just favourites of them. I don't know.
Okay, so
there were attempts to, like,
astropathically reach terror, but this
was kind of impossible, and the volume of
warp nonsense killed about half of the
astropaths in the fleet.
God, this fleet's having a terrible...
Wow, this sucks, man.
Yeah, this is awful. Holy shit.
Trapped in the eye of the storm without a leader,
Captain Alexis Pollux, the best boy,
would take command of the survivors and navigate to foul,
where they faced yet another issue,
which was an ambush courtesy of the iron warriors.
Though the imperial fist were finally out of it.
Wow, what the fuck is this?
Though they would not suffer any losses directly on Isfant 5,
they would face quite a bit of terror where they were.
but the resolve of Captain Pollux would ensure their survival.
However, much like things that are about to happen, word back to terror regarding this betrayal
was very much delayed.
Though the Imperial Fists hit a bit of a hiccup, the other legions that had been dispatched
were more lucky.
At the forefront was the Ravenguard, whose vessel, the Ad Temperestra, would arrive in the
outer part of the Isvan system and serve in a kind of recon capacity.
It's pretty neat that this was the vessel to first arrive, since it was exceptionally skilled,
when it came to stealth reconnaissance, and that's exactly what Ferris hoped for.
The Ravenguard and their Primark were the perfect ones to verify whether or not the news brought
forth by Garrow was true, and them arriving roughly two weeks before the planned assault
was perfect to run scenarios and get as much information as possible transmitted back to terror.
Their arrival and their long-range scans confirmed indeed that Isfant 3 was incomplete and utter
ruin, but it also confirmed where the traitors were setting up shop.
Oh, shy said, oh no, I just forgot.
I have unrelated thing.
We got multiple comments calling DeCat for bringing up Inquisition and Ecclesiarchy in previous episodes,
even though it was set in 30K when such things haven't existed.
So I want to put his larping ass in place when it came out with shit puns.
Shy, okay, shy, we need to take the word back.
We're taking the word back, okay?
LARPers are the people who spend a ton of time really making sure they're getting their shit right to role play.
What you're thinking of is a poser, okay?
A poser is the word.
We got to take it back.
We got to take the word back.
I fully rejects the fairly recent use of LARPA as a thing of like, oh, you're just
pretending to, like, do you, do you have any idea how much effort people who LARP put into it?
It's, they don't just show up out the goddamn blue.
They're not just walking into a forest in jeans and a T-shirt, being like, yeah,
Aminorke. No. The amount of dedication is absolutely unreal for the vast majority of them.
What are you talking about? Also, I've never heard a person say, say, larping in a, in a proper
context. I only ever hear it from someone who gets way too into hell's reach. We got to, we got to
find the, we got to, we got to take it back. We got to take it back. We need to, we need to roll
it to the proper way. We're going to, we're going to hit poser instead.
Yeah. Yeah. Thank you very much.
Yeah, shy.
I don't even think that that quite works here either.
DK doesn't have any reservations on being a super fan of 40K.
That's true. I just like the lore.
It's fun to talk about and it's fun to listen to.
Yeah, shy.
These are the same kind of people where you say,
these are the kind of people when you say,
oh yeah, the Adeptus Mechanicus back in Horace Heresy
and then someone busts through your fucking door and says,
actually it was the cult mechanicum.
The adeptist mechanicus didn't arrive till after.
And then they take a shit on the floor and leave.
And then they come back and like, this doesn't smell.
Yeah.
Exactly.
That is one of those changes where I'm just like, why did they write that changing in the first place?
I know there's a reason for it.
but at the same time, it's whatever.
It's basically the same thing.
Be honest.
It just is.
It just is basically the same thing.
That's probably going to get more people riled up than the whole laughing discussion.
It is dumb, but anyway, moving along.
And I've got a quote for you here, Bricky.
Yay, okay.
Kill yourself.
Oh, that's from Shy.
Sorry.
Whoa, damn.
My bad.
I was reading my DMs.
Vox sifts are picking up signaled shatter,
ciphered but not shield him.
Cipher markers conform to third,
14th, 12th, and 16th Legion command patterns.
They do not hide their colors,
thinks of Cronus.
He moves to a bank of picked monitors
and keys the controls.
The images on the screen's Fizz, blink,
and then the gray-black curve of Istvon-Vive
is looking back at him from a field of stars.
Bum-Bum-Bahn.
Sounds almost like a good view.
Like that.
I mean, at this point, it probably is a good view.
Pretty for now or something.
Yeah, for now it probably is a great thing to look at.
If nothing disastrous happens, it can stay that way.
So the Urgal Depression seems to be the site of a pretty big fortress
that is exploiting the geography of the volcano on the world.
But there's something a bit off as well,
particularly in the void around this planet.
Despite the devastation on this van three, there's not really any other vessels in the area,
and it's almost as if the ad temperestra is alone out here.
I hate to say the name of this goddamn ship.
This information was sent back to terror, and things had to be decided on and quickly.
Normally, the administrative tendencies of terror means there's a good century or two before things get settled on,
but this is super of the essence, and Rogaldorn does not have time to think things out and must act instead.
him and his available brothers had been running through a whole lot of strategies and things aren't
looking great particularly in the eyes of ferris manis after running every possible outcome and factoring in the fact that any upper hand might be something that horace has manufactured himself
ferris finds that the traitors will win in virtually every single outcome except for one despite the others not being so sure about this plan and finding it to be reckless
Mr. Manus decides that there should be a single attack directly at the heart of Isvan 5,
and the overwhelming violence of said attack can swiftly deal with any form of recourse.
Get them the win.
The plans of the coordinated assault are transmitted to the forces arriving in the Isvan system,
but unfortunately are also transmitted to Horace himself,
courtesy of the whole not everyone is actually on your side thing.
Also, is that, I can't tell if that's from a game.
or if someone actually did like a widespread like mini canvas with all the terrain is what is that from that's a real life thing god damn a hardscape or a hard hard terrain board one of the coolest things you could ever do in war hammers play a game on one of those and they're yeah a nightmare because they're impossible to trans to to to move transport and yeah the impossible to transport and you can only have them often in like one table and one
spot. That's where you put in your man cave basement in the Midwest and then it never goes
anywhere. Never moved. Yeah, it's just a showpiece. God, for a second, I was like, I mean, that could
be like a dawn of warlike thing that they like zoomed out on or something. Oh, someone he actually
made, that's so sick. Jesus Christ. Yeah, it's a display piece at Wohama World, right? It should be.
It's got the Warhammer, it's got the Warhammer community thing. It looks familiar actually, so it might be.
It looks like an old heresy era, uh, board. Oh, whoever did it, is it imperialist or is it imperialist or is it
Is it like full scale?
I can't tell.
I think it's full scale.
Based on what I remember seeing there at the time.
Oh my God.
I don't know that.
I may have seen it, but I'm not 100%.
But it's just, there's just so, there's so much.
There's so much happening in that picture.
Holy shit.
So the plan of assault, honestly,
is something that Horace himself would have done
if he was in the same situation.
Based on all the information available,
this truly is the only viable option, and Horace readies himself and his forces for this assault.
But there's something interesting going on. There were reservations from loyalist primarks, right?
And they weren't really considered. Unfortunately, this kind of came down to Horace as well.
The concerns expressed by Vulcan, particularly, would not be transmitted properly due to some Alpha Legion sabotage,
resulting in the mission ultimately being rushed out of the door
as the only viable option, courtesy of an already frustrated and revenge-seeking Ferris.
The fortress they wait on in Isvan 5 is truly a thing to behold.
It has all the markings of something Percheraba would have done,
but the sheer volume of the Sons of Horace makes it look like it's covered in a sea of green.
The depression is heavily fortified with sentry guns and platforms,
and they'd like place strategically and precisely all over the area,
ensuring there is virtually no cover for any of the arriving loyalists.
Speaking of arrival, this would be staggered a bit.
The Ravenguard, Ein Hans and Salamanders were likely going to muster and arrive first,
and the remaining legions would be staggered, ensuring two waves of assault.
All according to plan, frankly, this would be the perfect trap for the loyalists.
one thing to note here that was heavily emphasised in the drop site massacre book which possum loved
and will not be spoiling some of the side things in it possum says check it out very impressed
one of the things that is emphasised in that book was that not all the traitors were actually
on board with this plan particularly angron because of course of course um he's just he's just
he's so contrary you just can't help him
can he?
He probably just wanted to run headfirst into everything and fuck all this planning shit.
Just let me loose.
Funnily enough, you're not far off.
Of course not.
It's Angron.
It's true.
Angron finds no glory in this plan and would come dangerously close to sabotaging the entire
thing for Horace from the get-go.
Because Angron, Angron would set up a Vox network in order to warn the loyalist of Horace's
betrayal, but Horace catches him in the act.
Oh my God.
All you had to do was teleport your friends with him.
Yeah, that's it.
You had to do.
Save his slave or friends and family with him.
It's all he had to do.
You know, I actually got to say, I kind of appreciate that a little bit, though.
Like, I, I, Engron is like, I don't know, he's like a directed force of will, but he's
kind of like, he kind of sticks to the.
that directed force, which is kind of interesting.
There's, there's, there's, for all that he's, you know, a raging lunatic who really just
wants to fight everything and also seems to actively despise literally everything that's
happening around him, there's still bits of him that are properly like, well, this isn't
honorable.
This is a proper fight.
What the hell is this?
He also does have that whole like, yeah, you know, I mean, shy makes the point where it's like,
like, yeah, the bombarding or the loyalists or whatever is a pussy shit.
Like, you're going to deal with them, kill them with your eyes facing them.
Yeah.
And he did.
Oof.
Seven thousand of his own sons he killed, right?
There's something like that.
Gorge.
Absolutely insane.
Also, I just love the idea that, like, Angron has, like, a phone in his hand.
And he's about to, like, push the receipt.
horse is like, hey, what's you doing there, Angron?
Nothing, dad.
I'll be in school on Monday.
For some reason I'm thinking like one of those, like, all-ass rotary phones.
Mm-hmm.
Me too.
He's dialed most of the numbers.
He gets just to the last one.
He's turning it and it's like, hey, what's doing there?
He goes to it.
He goes to it.
He starts pushing like a telegram.
Like, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.
Beep, be, beep, bo, beep.
Funnly enough, Horace and Angron would fight,
and Angron would even shatter Horace's pardron.
The fight between them was a stalemate,
and Angron would scream at Horace to kill him.
That's got real sad real quickly.
Horace would refuse and say that he needed him for his plan.
And I've got a quote for you here, D.K.
Your war does not end, brother, says Horace, his voice low.
Angron closes his eyes.
Why? he asks.
Because of what we were made for, because of him.
Because the only chain you wear is the one he placed on you.
And there is the only one way to sever it.
The teeth of the chain axe spin to stillness.
We should have fought this war with honor.
We should want to be everything he is not.
Horace nods.
We never had that choice.
He took it from us.
Aw.
A little heart-to-heart moment.
A heart to heart is a strong word, but, you know, close enough.
Yeah, well, they're trying to rip each other's hearts out.
So, like, you know.
I was going to say, I'm, I'm a, I'm a shy, gaslighting from forest.
I guess you could call it that too.
Come on, shy.
Everyone knows gas lighting isn't a real word.
It's like laughter.
It's not an actual thing.
Three new hosts next time on Adderick.
Though Horace would be able to calm his brother and refocus on the plan,
this obvious splintering internally between the traitors would only get worse during the events that were to follow,
and just the heresy as a whole that was to come.
When it comes to the way the assault on Isvan 5 was divided up by the loyalist,
it was mostly a headlong assault separated into three sectors.
The iron hands would be dead centre in what was called the Malias sector.
The salamanders would cut a bit more to the left in the Ignes sector,
and the Ravenguard would have a bit more flexibility.
Not only would they participate in the right side, the Umbrook sector,
but they'd also be landing troops above the canyons to move around the main action
in order to snuff out platforms and other top-down armaments.
Eventually, the bulk of the forces arrive,
and Ferris Manus doesn't make any sort of attempt to negotiate with his brothers.
The Fist of Ine was already in shambles thanks to Fulgrim,
and it's around here when he finally gets to speak to Vulcan,
but since the plan is already in motion,
Vulcan's hesitation feels less like consultation and more like obstruction.
And I've got a quote for you here, Bricky.
All right.
Tell me what you would have us do, says Ferris.
And Mon, Mon? Mound? Mound's bar?
Mon, morn.
Can hear the anger just under the iron layer of control.
Wait, says Vulcan.
Encircle, blockade.
Then what?
Offer terms?
Wait for surrender.
this is Horace and Mortarian and the rest. You think they will surrender? You think that they have not
prepared for a siege as well as an attack? Their ships are returning. You have seen the reports.
They gather forces either to break a blockade or to strike us in the back as we assault.
We must attack and attack now. Time allows for no other course of action.
Is that the only reason, brother? asks Korax. Ferris looks at him.
What do you mean?
Ferris looks between the other two Primarks.
There is a haunted look to his face now.
This is not just an act of war, says Korax.
It is personal.
At Fulgram, that bitch.
Fulgram that bitch.
To be fair to Ferris Manus,
I would argue that in a very real way,
like, yes, it is personal for him.
Surely it's kind of personal for all of them.
They have effectively spent the last however long,
being told their brothers and that they are all fighting on the same side.
To just be like, this is strictly business.
I've got no personal investment in this whatsoever.
I don't think that's an accurate statement to make for any of them,
except for maybe because,
because he's always been a wrongan.
He's always been a little bit of an issue.
Too late to truly do anything,
the Primark's watch as the ships in orbit begin to open fire onto the fortress,
but in a calculated manner.
They're not trying to shatter the shield.
They're just testing to see how strong it is.
Outside of the main volleys, other orbital strikes are done with pinpoint precision to take outposts.
The very long and extensive recon done by the Ad Tempestera has left no fortification to the imagination,
as the loyalists ensure that there's no surprise attack from behind or from anywhere else on the planet,
besides the primary fortress in the Depression.
But at least that's what they were aiming for.
That's the whole rest of...
Yeah. For the rest of the episode, keep this in mind. All the events that happen here take place over the course of four hours.
Gotcha. Everything from here on.
Wow, really? Yep. Four hours?
Yep. Yep.
I thought it was a lot longer than that.
Quite. Turns out to be quite a busy four hours.
Yeah.
Maybe a bit of an understatement.
An indescribable drop pot of salt that darkens the sky.
marks the arrival of the first wave onto the surface, in a show of force not seen since the
height of the crusade itself. Guided courtesy of beacons planted by the Ravenguard, these pods land
as Death Storm pods unleash warheads onto the automated systems placed in front of them.
Though the show of force is strong, it's not without casualties, as many of the pods
unfortunately are taken out by the exceptional defensive network that's been set up.
But, if nothing else, they serve their duty in protecting the vast majority of the loyalists in
landing so that they can exact vengeance on the war master. As for him and his men, they didn't
really initially act, because they kind of didn't need to. The automated guns and stuff were doing
a hell of a job for them, but as these lines of defensive guns fell, the sons of Horace
needed to step up and they did start to defend themselves, especially since Ferris Manus himself
had landed. Of course, him and his payload of iron hands were going to be the first ones to walk the
Sanz of Isfant 5 due to the planet-sized chip on his shoulder. His rage was made manifest by
by unleashing a terrifying onslaught that pinned down the forces of the traitors with such efficiency
that it allowed the loyalists to storm forward. Fighting by his side with a Morlocks, his Terminator
Elite, though he wouldn't have the biggest numbers by any stretch, Ferris would certainly have
some of the most violent. The fighting was not particularly tactical. It was more just an immediate
brawl, where combatants were within arms reach of one another, and the fighting was horrible.
The black armour of the iron hands was a visible pincer in a sea of green and white,
and chain blades were overheated by the pools of blood that were choking their motors.
There were no tactics, it was just violence, and even the traitors had to rely on fight-or-flight
instincts and nothing more.
Jeez, I didn't know Ferris went that hard. I didn't know the Iron Hands went that hard.
they were they were
I think
somewhat irritated
would be the British
curve
a small
a small ship Eisenstein
a wee bit of violence here
yeah
just a little
just a wee chip on their shoulder
they were thoroughly miffed
is the way I'll describe it
full of beans
thoroughly miffed
full of beans
We're so stupid
Though the fighting here was intense
It was not the entirety of the Loyalist forces
And the more rapid and stealthiest darts
Would view this carnage as a great distraction
As they attempted to blitz past it
The Ravenguard would make haste in the Umbrell sector
And utilize their jump packs to cross canyons
While being supported by jet bikes
in an attempt to get the upper hand.
However, this area was obviously heavily fortified.
The World Eaters and Sons of Horace Lane wait
with auto-canons and Volkite beams
and were able to knock ravens out of the sky one by one.
The impacts of these large cannon hits
and physical chunks of Ceramite armour
hitting the caverns violently would cause rockfalls,
crushing those who didn't have the luxury of jump packs
under piles of rubble.
Knocked out of the sky and with very few options,
the World Eaters would then engage
with the Ravenguard directly, forcing this front to grind to a halt. Absolutely horrible start
for the Ravenguard, really. All that work, and then immediately they're faced with that. But this isn't the
only place where the Ravenguard are busy, as Korax himself is leading his dark furies around and picking off
adversaries in high places. Elsewhere, Vulcan leads his men in the Ignis sector in a mass assault. However,
the primark of the Salamanders didn't account for the...
incredibly vast melt a minefields,
minefields, sorry, established by the Death Guard.
The Salamanders engage in a firefight with the forces of the Death Guard,
but the presence of Vulcan ensures that this assault is overwhelmingly in favour of the loyalists.
However, many of these defences begin to focus downward onto fairest manners
as the grueling conflict he finds himself in is kind of impossible to ignore.
The shift in focus is exactly what he hoped for,
and things are slightly shifting into the favour
of the loyalists at this point.
The salamanders are burying the deathguard left and right with their pyroclas
and the morale is surprisingly high, but the traitors would not break.
It was as if the death guard were throwing literally everything at them without much care.
Eventually the death guard would have a bit more support on their side,
courtesy of the famed Diaz-Ire Imperator Titan being supported by a few Warhound Titans,
but even this didn't stop the push of the loyalists.
Jesus ERA is back.
Yay.
Hell yeah.
Is it the best name Titan?
I think it is.
It's the most known, I'd say.
I was going to say, it's the one I hear of the most often in books is the D.S.E.
Yeah.
It's very, very big around that time.
Very prominent.
Now, as his tactical analysis assured,
Ferris Manus and his iron hands still able to maintain the speartip of the
assault that is driving directly into Horace's heart. But the purple armour that would slowly
appear on the battlefield would give him even more drive to press forward. The Emperor's
children were no longer the faultless bastion of perfection as their flesh-draped armour looked like
a stain on the surface of Isvan 5, and the twisted legion would be the next wall that the iron
hands would have to break through. They'd also be accompanied by some real fucked-up
fabius bile creations like the cacophony, and noise marines would cause devastation among the
ranks of the Morlocks. Though their presence was imposing and their weaponry, unlike anything the iron
hands had seen, their fury was no match for Ferris, and he would cut through their lines getting
closer and closer to the prize. The forces in the Depression are deeply intertwined during this
engagement, so much so that any request for Orbal support is denied. There is such a high risk
of friendly fire, and artillery strikes are becoming less and less frequent. The air is clear
above the Depression, which means that the loyalist Thunderhawks can run missions and deliver
troops without much obstruction. Now, you would think that at this point, that would kind of be
a big old concern for Horace, but he didn't really care. In fact, he relished the arrival
of messages confirming the deployment of more and more troops. But, you know, maybe they're moving
in a bit too fast, so it's time for the boys to hit the field. Without fanfare, all warning,
the primarchs of the traitor legions took to the battle. Angron moves across the umbral sector like a lawnmower
cutting down everything in his path. In the Ignis sector, a horrific creeping cloud of death covers the salamanders
and in its wake the cleaving of silence cuts down members of Vulcans Legion like blades of grass.
And at the front, Abadon leads the reinforcements from Horace's Legion to ensure that
defensive lines are retaken and reinforced, while Little Horace would rally the troops and encourage
them to put on a brave face.
The assault from the traitors and the ensuing pushback
resulted in the momentum of the loyalists being hindered.
Further hindrance came from the traitor interdiction cadders
springing from hiding places with chainswords
to cut down forces left and right.
Yeah, yeah, I'd call that a minor hindrance, for sure.
Just a slight speed bump.
Just a little bit.
Nothing to worry about.
Just to be a myth.
Korax and Vulcan's forces are in the unfortunate place where they have to dig their heels in to sustain as best they can as resources are running out and reinforcement is still a while away. Ferris, however, is still trucking. He is just refusing to give up any ground, especially considering how many of his sons had died, ensuring that this push was viable. The depression is already stained with the bodies of tens of thousands of Astartis, but the fighting was far from over. And I've got a quote for you here, D.K.
All right.
Now, even if Horace had somehow been convinced to cease his rebellion and immediately offer his capitulation,
the losses inflicted on the loyalist forces would render it a hollow victory for them.
There will, however, be no surrender and no cessation of the slaughter.
Now the massacre will truly begin.
I can't believe you said.
Yay.
I know, right?
Insane, ridiculous.
I am a bit of a rebel
Now finally, the loyalists would watch as reinforcements to their cause would begin to land
Ferris had high expectations of the Iron Warriors, Night Lords, word bearers and Alpha Legion during this
as their presence on the battlefield was beyond necessity.
God, it just...
Oh, man.
I'm doing a very good job of just hammering home how absolutely atrocious this all is.
Yeah.
At this point it had been roughly three hours and the momentum needed to pick up.
Victory was still on the table as far as he was concerned and the pulling back of the traitor Primarks was evidence to him and the others that they truly feared the reinforcements that were arriving.
Oh, Ferris.
Oh, no.
You poor, sweet boy.
On the bridge of the iron blood, Perchirabar watches and waits in silence.
On the triazagon, again, terrible name.
Just for the pronunciation saying.
Or 30K name, I suppose.
True.
I mean, there's no inquisition there.
Wouldn't want to be larping here, guys.
Sorry.
I wouldn't want to be larping, man.
Lorga is kneeling on his ship and whispering the names of lost gods while wearing his warplate.
Nothing changes.
All is set.
The bullet fired long ago has left the gun.
There is nothing to do but wait for it to.
reach its target. The first to land of these reinforcements would be the Iron Warriors who
touched down south of the original site where the loyalists had landed. They would deploy their
rapid building bunker nonsense and unfur their command posts like a character building something
in a Lego game. The modular nature of their bunkers would allow them to link up with pre-existing
command stations with ease. The Night Lords and Alpha Legion would divide themselves and land
on both sides of the Depression as close to Horace defensive lines as possible to provide both
Vulcan and Korax the support they needed. Of course, as you can imagine,
Korax and Vulcan were pretty hyped to see these reinforcements come, and they would work
to regroup their forces so they could rally again after the Night Lords and Alpha Legion
set up shop. The Ravenguard would be able to move back to a new line set up by the word
bearers. It's... Oh, it's just that the way all of it is set up is...
It's obviously, if you have knowledge of 40K, then as you're reading these books, you're like, oh, I know this is going to go bad because I already know what's happening.
Well, like, happened before this book was even written.
But it really, it really does hammer home just how much of a monstrous, horrific betrayal and just how much hope is snatched away.
Oh, yeah.
It's, uh, it's rough man.
It's rough manis, I suppose.
I'm taking away that plus two from earlier.
Yeah, we're going to remove that one.
Yeah, yeah, we got to rescind it.
Shy keeps kicking me from the Discord call.
Wow.
I guess deservedly so, but man, come on.
Rushing back to these lines, the Ravenguard will transmit greetings
and send tactical information.
Oddly, the word bearers would not respond,
and the only sound on the Vox channels was a static hum.
The night lords of the 77th company would watch
as the Salamanders would break from the lines against Mortarians' Legion,
and they would see them drag grievously wounded Astartes to safety.
This watching would be done through scopes,
as their fingers would hesitantly wait on the trigger of their weapons,
waiting for the inevitable.
At the front and against the urging of Korak himself,
Ferris would not order any form of retreat. In fact, the arrival of the reinforcements would
provide him the momentum he needed to push on, and he would rally the remnants of his Morlocks
to finish the job. Directly in front of him, Thulgrim would make his appearance at last,
and challenge Ferris with an awful laugh. He knew he wanted revenge, and he was going to let him
fight for it. Ferris would not respond with words, only actions, as he would push further
to claim this victory for himself. He almost didn't see the signal.
And I've got a quote for you here, Bricky.
A boy.
Ferris has not pulled back from the attack, says Malagurst, looking up from the glowing screen of his data slate.
It does not matter where he chooses to fall, says Horace.
We have range on them, comes the voice of Lorgar over the Vox.
There is a note of awe in the words, thinks Malagurst.
All firing solutions and fire commands ready, per Chrobbo, voice flat, detached.
No word from Alferius or curs.
But they are there waiting like the rest.
Out there on a stretch of ground,
no longer than one district of the Imperial Palace on Terra,
is over half of the Imperium's legions,
each loyal to a cause or an oath or an idea.
Each here because of choice or nature or chance.
Half the legions of the Imperium,
half of the strength that created it.
Horace lets out his slow breath,
turns, and strides up the assault ramp.
Illuminate them, he says.
Oh man
It'll loom
Oh what a piece of shit
Very
Very excited to
Uh
Very excited for the
The um
Uh
You're hitting our troops line
To eventually show up here
Yeah
Oh man
That's such a crazy
I mean obviously that is how the turnaround
Was planned
That's the whole
Spiel
But golly
The
How it started
And how it's going pictures
Are so insane
Yeah, that's crushing.
Like, that's the point.
That was the plan.
But still, just like seeing the before and after is crazy, dude.
Yeah, yeah, that's bad.
That's real bad.
From the battlements of Horace Stronghold,
a single flare would launch toward the sky like a rocket
before exploding and illuminating the sky in blood red.
Essentially, just shy of four hours into the battle,
the surface of Isvan 5 would be soaked in the blood of loyalists.
Reinforcements did arrive, but not for them,
and the full force of these four legions would be unleashed.
The balter shots came from seemingly out of nowhere on both sides of those retreating.
The crossfire was impossible to escape,
and those seeking shelter from the front lines were not even able to lift their arms to defend themselves.
Already damaged tanks would be violently hit with gunfire,
and the cascading explosions would cause any sense of shelter to be irradited.
There was no mercy and there was no escape.
Angron and Mortarian would return to the battlefield and the new traitor primarks would join
them because this was no longer a defensive measure, it was a purge.
One of the most overwhelming presences on the field were the Alpha Legion and their presence
was made doubly difficult to those on the surface due to the fact that they were wearing
unadorned armour.
In fact, the Alpha Legion's contributions to the massacre were monumental to the traitors.
their acts of sabotage both before and during the massacre
ensured that the traitors had the upper hand the whole time
and the establishment of operatives within the ranks of the loyalists
also ensured consistent sabotage going forward
but being the puppet masters that they are
they allowed for some big-name loyalist admirals and commanders to survive
in order to ensure that uncertainty and coercion
would remain consistent for the rest of the heresy
Oh man
When when Shai posted that picture of like the display
I was like man what's filled all the green rubble
Oh
Oh that's oh that's that's that's a starty's armor
Those are all just like dead bodies
Oh that's a whole lot of
Absolutely wrecked salamanders
Oh boy it sure is
Jesus Christ
I mean this took them out of the war
If I'm not mistaken
This was like, like the salamanders, as well as many of these people,
just barely took any part in the heresy final path because they just got more.
They couldn't.
Yeah.
Yeah.
This is where all like the shattered legion stuff came in from the Ravenguard, Ironhands,
and Salamanders that got absolutely obliterated.
Now, the final moments of this purge are subject to contradictions and confusion,
because honestly, so few people survived and those who did were driven in.
insane.
Honestly, fair.
Fair play.
Stories tell that
Ferris Manus
dueled Fulgrim and had the
upper hand most of the time while
intentionally holding back in the hopes that his
corrupted brother may see the error of his ways.
Some say that he intentionally held
back a killing blow and offered him
redemption. All these stories
end the same, however.
Fulgrim revealed his true self and instead of fighting
with honour, he struck a killing
blow with cowardice.
Insert so no head video here.
Thanks, Potter.
Horace would finally take the opportunity to emerge from the shadows to claim a prize at this point.
And I've got a quote for you here, D.K.
All right.
The war master looks down at Folgram.
Waits.
Volgram holds up both hands, cupped on the bloody palms, is Ferris Manus's head.
The vanquished enemy, says Fulgram.
Horace takes the head, fingers encircling the back of the skull.
A clotting snake of blood coils from the severed neck and runs onto his hand.
Horace looks into the dead chrome eyes.
Then he raises the skull of his brother to the sky.
The shouts rise.
Victory!
Lupercal victory!
Well, that sucks.
That is...
That pretty much sums it up.
That sucks.
You know, we make fun of this all the time,
They really didn't do much for Ferris Manus.
Like, they didn't do much.
No.
I mean, he looks like a real Chad up until that point.
Like, I didn't realize just how heavy he was pushing before all the, you know, betrayal.
So at least he went out kind of like a champ.
Like, he, he, I don't think he was doing some stuff, right?
I don't think he went out like a champ either.
You think he went on like a chump?
I mean, not a chump, he just kind of went out.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah.
It almost like, almost a, like, it's almost like too normal a death.
Yeah.
When you think about everything that's happening.
Yeah, like, in all the, like, all the fights, all the jewels, all the, you know, one-on-one action that has been going on on this planet for like four hours, there will be countless of Starzies who died because they missed a parry and lost their head.
for a son of the emperor,
for a primark to just have his head chopped off.
I know it's against another primar.
I was going to say,
it's not like a normal death for a warrior.
It's not like Joe Space Marine cut his head off.
He had an epic duel with fulrum.
Like the best duelist?
I mean, yeah.
Yeah, I feel like, I don't know,
it's so,
it's so relatively clean and not like a,
a brutal, awful chaos thing.
It feels like a normal death for just, you know, a practiced warrior.
If it was Marvel's Wolverine and you couldn't fail QTE's, Paris would still be alive.
So sure.
That's true.
That's true.
Shy, let me tell you something about control.
Got a lot of puzzles in that game.
They don't tell you shit.
They just let you do it.
they just
Dylan just sits there
and waits for you to
fucking finish the damn puzzle
I know it's great
so the
map the map kind of sucks
kind of like control one
it's awesome
you're telling me
that most people when they play games
want to actually play it
and not and not just
have things happen
whilst they're sitting there
is that what you're getting out
because I don't know man
I don't know man
I've seen
some of those tweets back in
2023 about like, why do people want to play
Balders Gate 3? Look at this awesome Spider-Man
sequence and it's just a cutscene.
I don't know, man.
Hey, but I am a cultured man
that can like Balders Gate and
Spider-Man, hey?
I know, because we actually play
video games around here.
Karioth, what happens
next?
Sorry, I got distracted.
I got, I got distracted by a, uh, by a typo and I, I, I had to quickly fix it.
What are you doing, Possum?
It was a, it was a, it was a single missing letter, but it stood out to me because it, it just.
No, no, you must shame him.
What was the type?
We'll get to it.
We'll get to it. And, uh, I'll just, you know, I didn't notice it when I read through this
earlier.
I got to fix it then, but I instead I got distracted just now.
So as Mr. Manus would fall, so would another Primark.
Corrox would...
Corrox would encounter Lorgar, and driven mad with range, would strike Lorgar down,
but would be fended off by Conrad Kurz before he could finalise this death.
Corax would then rally survivors and begin an almost three-month-long campaign of guerrilla sabotage
on the surface of the planet, well hidden from the traitors.
I just I can't
Jesus
It was more the
The gorilla based sabotage
Which it was more of the ape
Sort of spelling
Oh
The GOR
I don't believe it was intentional
Hmm
Okay maybe that's a
Maybe it's auto correct or something
Okay
I think the gif is not moving
I'm going to click on it
If it's like spinning really fast let me know
It is.
He's not spinning that fast.
He's spending a normal amount.
It's not like a hyper spin.
That's true. He's spinning at a decent speed at minimum.
I do like Corvuspe Lake.
That's not bad.
Vulcan was last seen surrounded by the salamanders in the ignis sector before being struck with firepower that was so powerful that it could tear them apart at a molecular level.
Don't worry though.
He'll be back.
and, you know, much later on would show up in a very specific series that is well loved by this channel, according to Parson.
The traitors were now able to operate freely without the shackles of secrecy and would take to the fields of Isvan 5 as victors.
Everyone except the Alpha Legion, as they would pack up and get the fuck out of there as fast as possible.
As they do.
And of course, now, you may well be asking yourself, Kiriath, you resplendent,
Duke. Wow. How many people died on Isfan 5? Well, the numbers...
27 billion. Literally everyone.
The numbers of loss are measured in percentages, for the most part. Of the deployed
iron hands, 92.66% of their assets were either completely destroyed or captured,
including Ferris Manors. For the Salamanders, about 97% of their assets,
and 94% of the Ravenguards asset.
Correction Vulcan's statuses are unverified and will remain a mystery for quite some time.
That's, oh boy.
Yeah, that is a Legion breaker.
That's rough.
That's rough.
Hey, hey, technically we only lost like 10% of fairest manners.
Let's just, let's just move on.
You know sometimes, like, you have someone who's just like really into a character that like, you know,
they're welcome to like that character plenty.
People have their thing.
But they just don't do a great job with it that like,
you just keep making fun of it.
And you know that one person's pissed off,
but you just, you can't stop.
It's like, it's like making fun of Ashley and Caden in,
in Mass Effect.
Like, if that's your favorite character,
like, there's something, like, you can do that,
but I'm still going to kind of shit on them a little bit.
I really don't like Ashley, though.
Boy.
Well, yeah, Ashley.
sucks more than Kaden, but like, even so
also, mark that off on your bingo cards.
A massive record for choice. Yes, sir.
We, we almost, we almost got through it
without one. Shit, my bad.
We are, we are literally,
there are two short paragraphs left.
It was so close. No, man, I love a good
Mass Effect reference. I love it when that gets
marked off on the bingo card.
Listen, I, I got so, I mean, all of the, and I mean, by all I
the only Ashley fans in the world came out of the woodworks after I made my video on it.
And I know this happens every time we discuss Ferris Manus.
All 10 of them are like, these head jokes are getting old Adrick.
I'm canceling my Patreon.
Oh, no.
Hey, I actually said I thought he came out kind of looking really cool this time.
I mean, he, whilst he, before, you know, the whole head removal incident, he was absolutely wrecking.
everyone's shit.
Yeah, he was going hard.
Like he was,
him and the Iron Hands
were like single-handedly
pushing back to traitors.
I was,
I was pretty impressed, actually.
Yeah,
I like post-heresy Iron Hands
more than pre-heresy Iron Hands,
though.
I like their self-loathing
is turned up.
Exactly.
I like their,
I like their,
God,
this is sucks and we're like super mean
and also we keep replacing ourselves.
I like that stuff.
That's a good,
I like that.
that character arc.
They're just like me for real or whatever.
Because you like everyone depressed.
Yeah, yeah.
I like the grim dark world universe, of course.
That's totally fair.
So for the traitors, these numbers are also woefully incomplete.
It's confirmed that about 25,000 death guard were killed,
while 35,000 world eaters were taken out.
At the top of the list,
about 50,000 Empress children were killed and 60,000 sons of Horus are unaccounted for.
The numbers of the other four legions are a complete unknown, and even these confirmed numbers for the known traitors are estimations at best.
Now we do have one last quote for you, Bricky, but I have just realised that earlier, I think I said like if we assume allegiance about 100,000, I said it at the time, and then I meant to follow up with
that's sort of true but also not really
because some of the lesions were just way bigger
and some of them were smaller
and some of them had all sorts of bullshit going on
that made their numbers were really tiny for a bit
but then they got more like a thousand sons
there was not many of them
but then they went back up
so not an entirely accurate statement
but you know for the sake of trying to work out
how many people died in a warp storm
it was something to go off which is more than we had previously
so there so here we go
last last quote
In fact, last part of the app.
Oh boy.
Okay.
Survival was no blessing for to live through the horrors of what transpired in the Urgal
depression was to be forever haunted.
And to live a life beyond this blackened place was to exist in a galaxy that would forever be Riven.
Editor note, not driven.
Riven means being divided apart.
Also, one of the best video games of all time, baby, by war.
this was the beginning of the age of darkness.
Can I say, I just love the fact that,
I was gonna say, I love the fact that Possum thinks we are so fucking stupid,
we don't know what the word Riven is.
And we would just be convinced you meant driven.
Thanks, Pasa.
People out there who haven't come across the word Riven before.
I guess.
Maybe.
I guess, I guess since most of us have played Warframe,
It also triggers a different kind of PTSD.
It's an at atatious walking simulator.
See, I hate the fact that I see the word Riven
and I just think of the character from League of Legends.
I see the word Riven.
I think of Riven of A Thousand Voices,
the raid that never got vaulted in Destiny,
Last Wish Best Raids, Still Here, Baby, Dragon.
I'm one of the few I actually did.
Let's go! That is a good one.
Didn't I do that with you for your first time?
Yes, you're the one that took me through it
I held my hand.
Yes!
It's great.
It's so good when we don't she is written.
It's very hard.
It's a lot of fun.
Yes.
Anyway.
Anyway, what were we talking about?
Let's go.
The dropside massacre.
Dropside massacre.
Also known as the bungee layoffs.
Wow.
Wow.
Okay.
Yeah, no, it was a very low blow, but like God, I don't even know anything anymore.
Everything's gone crazy with everything, everything happening there.
we were talking about bungee
re-unvoting all their stuff in a shocking move of clarity
earlier before this episode
we'll see
cautiously optimistic
we'll see
you gotta up the caution
I was just gonna I was just gonna say
if uh if Fulgroom had done a low blow
Ferris balance might still be alive
that's good
he would have removed a different head
oh man
Oh,
Oh, God.
Oh, God.
Everyone, everyone here is,
what?
Everyone,
everyone here is funnier than me.
Faw.
Oh, all right.
That's,
I was going to have to go back to my old content.
Making games with friends videos on chivalry deadliest warrior.
Wait.
Oh,
I think,
come on,
please someone know what that is.
Come on.
Sorry, man.
I got nothing.
I,
I'm sorry.
I just,
I just don't.
I've got no frame of reference for that.
This is a game where you play before I started streaming.
It's a chivalry game, but it's like knights and like Spartans and ninjas and pirates and samurai all together.
God.
What?
It was actually awesome.
It was actually amazing.
It actually does sound quite good.
This is before Foreron or existed
because I basically just described
Foron. Anyway, drop site massacre.
I'm sorry, I've been off today.
I've been thinking about all kinds of other things
that aren't Warhammer right now.
Probably because I've learned about the dropside massacre
on 19,000 times.
