The atmosphere would literally ignite, and 12 billion souls would evaporate in an instant. Clean, efficient, and devastating.Well, not quite. This week, Bricky, DK, and Kirioth dive headfirst into the blood-soaked tragedy of the Isstvan III Atrocity. We cover the desperate flight of Nathaniel Garro on the Eisenstein, Saul Tarvitz's heroic last-minute warning that allowed 2/3rds of the loyalists to seek shelter, and the agonizing final stands of legendary Astartes like Ancient Rylanor and Ullis Temeter.00:00 Intro08:00 The Isstvan III AtrocitySupport the show

Welcome everyone to another episode of the Adeptus Ridiculous podcast.
My name is D.K. Diamantis and what could possibly go wrong today?
We have Kiriath. We have Bricky.
I'll let them introduce themselves.
You first, Kiriath.
I'm here. I'm ready to go.
We've got horrible things to talk about.
And that is exciting to me.
I said nothing could go wrong today, Kiriath. What the hell?
Oh, geez. I'm just setting us off. I'm just setting us off.
for nothing but grief.
I'm actually quite happy because we have,
today we got a bunch of space marine data sheets
and this week we have a big reveal show again.
So we're going to have actual talk about next week.
Yeah, we did.
We've got hints as well.
We've got hints.
I've even got the image ready.
How's that for preparation?
Like, we've got, we've got, we've got,
it looks like a golden banana there.
So presumably,
Stodys action.
Constodies, yeah.
Can I interrupt for a second and just talk
about how much the internet has corrupted me and how when I saw that image, literally my brain said the big autism preview.
And I just, oh, man.
You've been hanging around Jacks too much, D.K.
That's very true.
She has been exposing your humor, by the way, sir.
Oh, yeah, I steal all of my good jokes from her.
I'm sorry, that's how it is.
Anyway, yeah, yeah, yeah, well, back to the big autumn preview.
Indeed.
So big banana custodies, we've got two Xs
which can assume Alpha Legion, the 20th Legion.
Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Corpstarch, as of explanatory on that one.
What's the top right one?
So that is for...
Doesn't it say Nehikara for life?
That's Nechron, right?
No, no, that is.
I think, I think it's Old World.
It's either Old World or...
age of Sigma, but I'm not sure of like one.
I think Old World.
I forget.
Okay.
I think it's Tomb Kings.
Oh, how'd I forget a Tomb King's name?
That was my fucking episode.
There's a number two ready.
I don't think they mean the Second Legion, because that's the expunged one.
But do you have any gleaming on that?
I have no idea what that one is.
At first I was like, is it some sort of like more news about Boltgun
too?
But then that's, um.
unlikely to be in the old street.
No, actually, no, I think you might be right.
That, because that ready looks like
an old school, almost like a street
fighter text. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
I was going to say, just a really stylized
inquisitor logo, hey?
No, there's only
one eye for that. Yeah, but it's
two inquisitors. There's two of them.
Boom!
He solved it.
He's done it. Squigs are obvious.
We know about squigs.
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Any glimpses on the flaming skull?
It kind of gives you word bearers vibes, but I'm not sure.
See, that for me.
I thought that was still orcs.
I reckon Legion of the Damned for that.
Oh.
Oh.
I think Leas of the Dam.
Because that would be like for a kill team especially.
And since Kill Team is on the roster.
So we've got 40K AOS, Horace Heresy, Old World, Kill Team Necrimander, Blood Bowl,
and Warhammer Quest, Darkwater.
so if it's Legion of the Damned,
it would make sense for them
to get their own kill team, right?
I'd be shocked if it's Legion of the Dam.
That's sort of like that's some old poles.
Could be a Ferris Manus reveal, huh?
Legion of the Dand, new Ferris Manus thing?
Huh?
Everybody wants it.
Headless, first manis.
Yeah.
The 20th Legion, the Alpha Legion stuff,
that's one thing, but like this seems like a bit of a pole.
Well, you know.
they've opted for the meme reveal for some reason
I don't want to I don't want to hark on it for too long
they also showed off a bunch of space marine data sheets today
everything looks like insanely powerful
however I do think this has to go along with the fact that
um space marines are getting more elite
because Gilman looks disgusting
Gilman has got some legs on him as well
he's as fast as photo box
armor, isn't he?
With 8-inch movement, that's mental.
But he's like, he is insane and his, is a feeling of a pain.
Like, he is disgustingly fast.
But also, like, the stern guard and the Terminators look really, really good.
I mean, bulk gun two's coming out.
You got to buff up the stern guard, right?
Yeah, I mean, Space Marines are notably getting huge buffs,
and I believe to increase their points and make them more elite and all that jazz.
But also, in addition to that, quick aside for myself, I finished The Wicked and the Wurped.
Oh!
Keriath, have you read The Wicked warped?
I have not even started it yet.
I need to.
Okay.
I would like to make a note that it is very good.
I don't think it's quite as good as Infinite Divine, but it's close.
It also has some really insane reveals at the end of the book.
Okay.
Like some wild lore implications and reveals.
So would recommend very good.
Some crazy things happening out there.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
Okay.
That is promising.
I genuinely forgot that it even was a thing until you mentioned it again.
It's good.
pretty good. The first half
is a lot more
humor and then the second half
is a lot more serious.
And there's some good character cameos
and some funny bits. I liked it a lot.
Hell yeah. Hell yeah.
Anyway, speaking of things
that we
do we like or don't like? Keriath, which one is it?
Well, actually, D.K.U. first.
I was going to say, you know what we
do like? When you head over to
patreon.com slash adeptist
ridiculous and support the podcast.
You can get access to the Discord, bloopers if they happen, $15 tier,
get you access to all of our posters in just the most wonderful digital form ever.
Check it out, patreon.com slash adeptus ridiculous.
We also love merch, Bricky.
We do. We do love merch.
We've got all kinds of fun merch going on down there.
Check out the shirts and the hoodies and all the things in between.
We're actually, we're getting really caught up, which I'm very happy about.
We had those tough times earlier this year.
year, but we're really catching up.
Production time's about three to four weeks now,
unless, you know, your stuff is, like, really easy,
like, dice that just kind of gets grabbed and ship, like,
really fast.
But, you know, we're moving along.
So it's good.
I'm glad that we've fully recovered from a very,
very tumultuous year with shipping and international politics and yada,
yada, yada.
So I'm glad we're back to that.
Yeah, glad we're back to that.
Yeah, well, I could always do it better, but live and learn.
Then get hugs.
Is that a reference?
Yeah, it's a,
it's a commercial for diapers.
It's always on TV for like,
I'll live and learn,
then actually buy the good stuff.
Oh,
as in you shit yourself and now it's time to buy a diaper.
Yeah, yeah, Bricks.
That's,
that's exactly how that commercial goes.
It's, yep, mm-hmm.
So, yep, yep.
Carrie-ath, what are we doing?
Please, please.
Save us, Kariath.
please.
With a quote, saved with a quote.
Is that what you're asking for?
Absolutely.
I can save you with a quote.
There's a schedule, brother.
Yeah, I mean, you don't have to guess because, well, people know it anyway because of the title,
but I'm still going to give you one.
I was like, brother, please.
I've seen a schedule.
It would be amazing if you got it wrong, though.
Can you imagine?
So these heroes and I do not use.
the term lightly, sold their lives dearly against an overwhelming foe, and did so largely unsung
and unremembered, and with this in mind, this account should be taken as exemplary rather than
exhaustive in its details. In the wake of the atrocity, the ash of Isvan 3 drunk deep of the blood
of loyalist and traitor alike, and we shall perhaps never know the full extent of the glory
and perfidy that was unleashed there.
You know, I'm going to go on a limb. I think I would have got that quote anyway, you know.
Yeah.
I believe you too.
I think you would have nailed that one.
I think I would have got that one.
Yeah, we're going to call that a dub for me.
We're just going to put that in the dub column because, yeah.
He's fondly.
Let's go.
Declare and get a tub when it wasn't even necessary to guess.
I'm loving that.
Shut up, Kiryov.
God.
Okay.
Look.
Introduction.
The.
Now, when reviewing this script for the first time, that is all the.
was there for the introduction because Possum was still finalising a few things. And so I sent
Possum a message saying, I just opened it up and the introduction currently says the. But of course,
this wasn't actually the real introduction that Possum wrote at the time. And frankly, I shouldn't
have suggested that it was the case. I just didn't give Possum a moment to stylise it. So in actuality,
it wasn't just a regular old the. The introduction was actually a lot more formal. And I have the
formal version of that initial introduction right here. That's what it should have been.
Okay.
Actually, is it right out for me.
Finally, a meme for me.
The great time.
I just want to point out that Parson in our chat literally wrote this as this is for Bricky.
So there go.
It's too far ahead too often.
I have a horrible feeling Parson knows us far too well at this point.
And we might actually be in danger should.
should they ever go off the rails. But for now, I think we're safe. So we do actually have an
introduction that is completely different and fully proper. The seeds of heresy had been planted
for a brief amount of time at this point, and Horace was starting to harvest the fruits of his
labour. Last week, we talked about a manufactured betrayal between two of his brothers, who,
despite misunderstood intentions, were actually fighting on the same side. The true open
warfare between his traitors and the Imperium of Man was looming, but something needed to be done
first. The biggest issue that Horace faced when it came to his next moves came from genetic perfection.
His sons and the sons of the other traitor primarks were made in their image, but that image had changed.
Some have proven to be a bit more malleable and have followed in the footsteps of their fathers,
but others stood as pillars of the Imperium that they once served. At one point in their lives,
to be that devoted to the emperor and his will, was something to be praised, but now it's something
that needs to be punished and sterilized. In order for his plans to go without any hitches,
any resistance would need to be pushed away, and Horace knew that the resistance within his own
genes' sons would be the most difficult to overcome. But the cards would fall perfectly into place,
and an opportunity on a world not so different from terror would allow him to launch the greatest
revolution in the history of the galaxy on the ashes and bodies of those sons that no longer
served his or his brother's plans.
The only thing those on Isvan 3 would be guilty of
is that they would just like their dads,
but by the end, being just like them would drive them mad.
Yay.
Yay!
I love Isvan!
Yay!
It's just good times.
It's a regular spa episode.
They're just going to get whined and dined on Isfant 3, right?
And nothing bad is going to happen.
I'm sure everything will work out just fine.
Before we talk about the disorder on Isfantre, we need to talk about how it was brought into order in the first place.
Located in the Ultima Segmentum, the planet was a rarity and that it was a near perfect analogue for terror,
making it a perfect place to go during the Dark Age of Technology.
It was settled and it sustained pretty well during Old Night as a pretty sturdy and bustling society.
It didn't deal with the traditional Zenos invas invasions or warp-nonsense,
during this time and the massive population thrived. Then, of course, the Great Crusade occurred,
meaning that the fun was over for all the worlds that were doing really well during this time.
By some degree of luck, the fleet that found this world was the 27th expeditionary fleet,
which was more or less the Ravenguard. I would say by some degree of luck,
because they didn't need to bomb the entire world to hell in order for it to be brought into
compliance. They would focus efforts on the then-capital hive world of Cryvanak,
and under the cover of darkness would systematically take out the defences and command bastions.
Peak Ravenguard there, lovely.
Those who are on the ruling councils of the world immediately surrendered,
meaning that the world was almost completely intact,
which is honestly great news, no need to rebuild or anything.
Sure, you've got to get the ad mech in there to start the whole brainwashing process and stuff,
and you need to shuffle in a new administration, but it was ultimately pretty painless.
The Ravenguard Records wouldn't mention anything strange or unusual during the shuffle into compliance.
Nothing bizarre with resistance or Zinoss or any of that jazz.
They'd only made a random passing reference to how some of the holdouts on the world were religiously motivated while offering up no other explanation.
The capital of Cryvanak would be renamed to Coral City due to the seemingly acoustic and magnificent architecture,
and things will be left to just go on happily ever after.
No happy ever after.
Yeah?
It was fine.
What a fascinating statement.
Yeah.
Now, as we all know in 40K, the phrase religiously motivated has some ominous connotations, regardless of the side.
Yeah.
What was like perceived as some weird religious cult was actually the, the,
makings of a Slaneshi cult, and as the time went on, the corruption would begin to seep up
into the newly established imperial governance. Planetary Governor Vardis Proul would experience
this head-on and would actually awaken as a psycher steeped in Slaneshi corruption.
Wow, I'd hate it. What a thing to suddenly have happened to you. Warpstorms would help
when it came to his overthrowing of order and establishing a firm chaos corrupted presence on the world.
iterators would be cast out, loyalists would be executed,
and the statutes that once stood proud in the history of the planet
would stand as corrupted altars.
He would successfully cut the world off
from the rest of the Imperium for six years,
which is quite a long time to suddenly go off-grid,
but I suppose there was quite a lot of stuff happening with the Great Crusade.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
Maybe it's just because of 40K numbers.
I was like, only six years?
like that's a drop in the bucket in 40K right it did kind of throw that yeah i did kind of feel like
it wasn't that much yeah i think i'm still hung up on the fact it was so easy to be brought into
compliance that someone would be like hang on this place was absolutely brilliant we had almost
no issues why is it going quiet but you are correct they're like just the scale of the scale of
the universe and also it being great crusade time where everything was just steadily pushing out
could definitely easily fly under the radar.
And also the ecclesiarchy and the administratum and mountains of paperwork.
And, you know, the usual.
The usual.
So this six-year secret would be broken thanks to a deathguard vessel
picking up suspiciously encrypted messages from the planet.
The heretical actions of parole would become known to the Council of Terror
and since he was a bit busy on terror,
thanks to the whole Magnus Broke-Shit thing, Biggie would task his truly, his trusty,
warmaster Horace Lupacol to bring the system back into compliance.
This was a golden opportunity for Horace to show his worth to the Emperor,
and Horus would seize it with both hands,
but not for the reasons his father would have hoped.
In fact, Isfan 3 was the perfect capstone to something he had been working on for quite some time.
It had, after all, been months since Horace fall to chaos,
on Davin and the sinister seduction of First Chaplain Erebus had set in motion a perfect set of
dominoes that Horace was now ready to knock over. The legions that Horace felt were truly the
most loyal, the Blood Angels, Ultramarines and Dark Angels had already been dispatched far across
the galaxy, so their influence and impact would be virtually non-existent. Others, the night lords,
Alpha Legion, Iron Warriors, Ravenguards, and Ironhands were already preoccupied and didn't need
new orders. Some, the white scars and imperial fists, were working on things close to terror,
so Horace didn't want to arouse suspicion by talking to them. The space walls and
thousand sons were preoccupied with something that was released last week on Adeptus ridiculous,
and the word bearers were already fully corrupted. But almost, almost fully corrupted. Shout out to
my boy Barthusa Nerick, a true legend, a loyalist, he died a hero. This, as Horace planned,
left the following partially corrupted legions outside his own, the Deathguard, the World Eaters,
and the Emperor's children. Horace would send orders to those legions to rendezvous with him at Isfarn
so that they could make plans to enact the compliance. All the trade of primarks were able to make it,
except for Fulgrim. He was a bit delayed, making his way to have a quick chat with Ferris Manus
about some cool new things he found, so in his place would stand Lord Commander Idalon.
Oh, Idalon. Every time I hear...
Idle on him.
Oh, it's that slimy fucker.
Yeah.
Now, good thing he's a zombie type dude now, but...
Yeah, I guess he is.
But yeah, God, ever since we read that book with him,
I was like, Idle one, brie.
He's weirdly, even by the standards of, you know,
traitor Marines that turned their back on everything and went a bit,
a bit off on one.
For some reason, he's like one of the grossest.
There's just something about his attitude.
He's just so, like you say, slimy.
and superior and...
Yeah.
One of those characters that within, like, the first few pages of reading about him,
I was like, I simply don't like this person.
And even if, you know, he ended up being loyalist,
I would still be like, I don't like this guy.
Yeah, he is very holier than that one.
I dislike him a lot.
Now, before anything proper could be done on Isvan 3,
the other parts of the system needed to be taken care of.
particularly Isvan extremist which sat at the furthest part of the system and acted as an early warning for Isfan 3.
Participating in the battle would be Idleon, Captain Saul Tarvitz and Nathaniel Garrow.
During the assault, the men would encounter a nightmarish Slaneshi war singer.
Leaving little to the imagination namewise, the war singer was capable of weaponising sonics and would brutally hurt Garrow.
Combined with its close quarters abilities, the war singer would crush his torso and sever his right leg.
A counter assault would be, it's such a rough way to end of fight that.
A counter assault would be unleashed by Tarvitz and Idalon, and it would be a bionically modified
Fuzradar from Adelon that would allow them to save Garrow and kill the war singer.
Say that, say that again, buddy.
A modified what?
That, the thing from Skyrim.
He knows what he's done.
He's hiding back now.
He's running back.
It's okay.
It says, don't worry, Kerry.
I won't press it.
I know what you're talking about.
It was bad.
It was a bad pronunciation, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
You're fine.
I mean, the last thing that sort of brought Skyrim back to my attention is the fact that
IKEA released a shelving unit for it.
And up until that point, I'd kind of forgotten that it was a thing, if I'm honest.
So the chances of getting any of that right, very slim.
The modifications done by Fabius Ball were deeply unsettling for Tarvitz
and the explicit usage of it was even more worrisome.
But ultimately, the job was completed and the four legions could move their way to Isvan 3
for the quote unquote compliance.
Now, it would be around this time that Horace would call together a group huddle with his brothers
and Idleon to discuss next steps, specifically his next steps.
By this point Horace had been pretty good at spotting those in his legion that weren't really shakeable when it came to committing to the ruinous powers,
and he would be pretty certain that his brothers also had a rough idea of the number for their respective legions.
Horace instilled it into them that these holdouts were a dangerous liability to their plans,
more dangerous than the loyalist legions even.
He'd struggled to think of a way to effectively remove them from their ranks,
and Isfan 3 was a blessing from the dark gods themselves.
reclaiming the planet would not be an easy feat
and some things could be simply pushed under the rug
under the guise of, well, they were lost in battle.
Now, good...
Lost in battle.
Just, you know, being certain.
How exactly were they lost in battle?
I'll get a report on the desk in like a week.
Don't worry about it.
Just standard combat stuff.
Yeah, some chaos.
stuff. There's a rebellion of some kind. Some Zenos bullshit that I can't talk about because the,
you know, Ordo Zenos is over there. You don't worry about it. It's not a problem. Honestly,
it's not a problem. Just stop asking questions. It's fine. A good portion of these loyalists would be
divided up to make landings in three major sectors of Coral City. Sector Alpha was in the northwest
bit where the capital's throne complex and central plaza were, and that would be full of
world eaters and Empress children, led by Lucius and Solomon Demeter.
Sector Beta would be in the southwest where the subterranean networks had entryways.
The Sons of Horus would be there with Garville Loken and Tarik Tutt.
Now this is one.
Torgadden is how I always say it, but I'm pretty sure I would...
How they say it in the audiobooks is Torgadden, yeah.
So that's how I always said it as well.
Yeah, same.
Yeah.
And a sector gamma would be the trenches in the west, and this would be Deathguard Territory
with Captain Erlen of the World Eases.
Now, only a good portion would be deployed
of the 100,000 presumed loyalists,
because logistics.
It's a bit hard to say,
all you very specific people need to go here specifically.
Kind of my aroused suspicion, if you went with that route.
Nah, it's Horace.
You got to listen to Horace.
He's a war master.
He speaks with the voice of the emperor.
Like, we can't say no to him.
We can't question him.
Last time Nathaniel Garrow did that
He got a dorn-sized handprint on his face
And he got you know
Shalacked through a wall
Like you know
It's beloved by all as they say
Yes sir
I think it is a bit weird
That he separated me from my entire squad
To send me down to fight basically by myself
With a bunch of
That don't normally fight together
But it is the war master
Are you questioning the war master
How dare you? I'll kill you myself
Immediate backhand
straight away.
Plus there's also the issue that some of the true loyalists
sustained some injuries on Isfam extremists,
so it would be doubly suspicious to redeploy them so soon.
Those who were deployed were sent down onto Coral City in drop pods.
This was presented as a tactical advantage to those being deployed,
but of course the real reason for this is because a drop pod
doesn't really have the ability to do a three-point turn and leave.
The drop pods would not be assisted by gunships or stormbirds,
or anything like that.
There would be ground support
in the form of Titans
but that would be about it.
That by itself, by the way,
I know, you know,
things have to happen
because of a plot,
but there has to have been
quite a few who would have been like
raised eyebrows a little bit.
The lack of their support is a real puzzler.
I'm not really sure.
Yeah, it's a little suspicious.
It's a little weird.
Like,
normally we have a little more protection
when we're getting dropped,
but,
um,
are you questioning?
in the war master. No, no, I would never.
How do I, uh, just, just, you know,
general logistical question.
Backhanded into the drop-pot,
just straight across the flight there.
In the palace, Captain Lucius was a particularly prideful man
and wanted to claim the ultimate prize of Prowl's head himself.
He would tear through his men and make his way directly to the throne room.
Meanwhile, in the Siren holds catacombs,
Garville Loken and Tarik would begin their purge of the cultists and shrines in the catacombs,
while engaging directly with war singers and other Suneshie nonsense.
Lucius would eventually come face to face with prol,
and despite his warp-fueled idiocy,
parole would be dismembered.
What a way to go.
That's Lucius.
I mean, he might be out of his goddamn mind,
but he has always been the sword duelist.
Yeah.
Was he out of his...
Was he out of his mind at that point,
or was he just a huge prick?
I think he was most of just a huge prick.
huge prick at that point.
Yeah. At this point he's just
dealing with feeling a little
inferior to
what's his face.
Yes, Logan. I don't know why I couldn't remember
to me. He was feeling very inferior.
He was headbutted in the face
in the dream cage.
Yep.
I think he was also like this
was all after he had that moment of
using a Zenos's
leg on murder as a
sword and getting told off for it, which
definitely didn't help with the whole pride thing.
No.
On the outskirts, the Death Guard and World Eaters would breach and claim the trenches
and would form a full defensive perimeter.
All of this was pretty damn quick, like only a few hours or so.
They would begin to establish their presence in order for the folks up above
to come down and reinforce them.
About that, there was a little bit of a problem.
Actually getting hold of the ships above was kind of tricky.
granted the forces that landed were told to keep Com silent on their end so as to keep the element of surprise up,
but now reaching the folks up there was seemingly impossible. It could have been atmospheric interference or something,
but the reality of it was a lot worse. Horace ensured that communications were severed
immediately after the drop pods were launched, and unbeknownst to the victors on the surface,
the true victors were arming weapons and aiming directly for them. And it's not just any weapons either.
These are the life-eater virus warheads, which were being prepared in orbit.
Yeah.
You hate to see it.
You hate to see it.
Knew it was coming, still hate to see it.
Yeah, yeah.
Now, the weapon payload would completely eradicate life on the service of the planet in a matter of minutes.
For those not aware, the life-eater virus has this neat little thing where it turns living matter into black goo.
That's pretty much what it does.
And it's very, very good at it.
The unfortunate Astarte's caught in the blast would melt from the inside out,
and the atmosphere would turn into a horrific miasma of rot and death.
Now, when something is destroyed by this virus, it releases methane.
So not only was it rot in the atmosphere.
What did I say?
Methane.
Methane.
Yeah, I love this part of the book, by the way.
I was horrified.
Tell them, Karioth.
What happened?
Yeah, yeah.
Explain exactly in gruesome.
detail. The worst detail possible. What happened after the life virus let off all this gas?
This ignitable, flammable gas, that gas. It was a perfect marker for the vengeful spirit,
which made ready for the next step. Horace would look to an assembled group of remembrances
and say that this is war, this is cruelty, and death. He would also say that this is what we do for
all of you, and yet you turn your faces from it. He'd say how they came to chronicle the Great
Crusade, and they did a great job with that, but the Crusade is now over. Now he was to bring it back
to its proper path and rescue the galaxy from the hands of the Emperor. Unfortunately, there's
no need for the likes of the Remembrance is in this new crusade, so Horrors would smile and say,
kill them, all of them, before all those present were turned into lovely red mist. Abidon would
tell him that the gunners awaited his orders while Horace watched the cloud swirl on the
world below. And we have our first quote for you, D.K. Almost all of them were killed, mind you.
Almost, almost, almost. He imagined the planet as the frayed end of a fuse, a fuse that would
ignite the galaxy in a searing conflagration and would lead to an inexorable conclusion on terror.
Order the guns to fire, said Horace, his voice cold. Let the
The galaxy burn.
Yeah.
It's one of those things that is still kind of cool,
while also being absolutely horrific.
Yeah.
Very.
A weird mix, but there you go.
So the vengeful spirit would fire an orbital lance
directly into the atmospheric gas,
resulting in the sky igniting so rapidly and violently
that the surface of the planet would catastrophically
explode. Not only would all life be wiped from the planet an instant, but any evidence of life
would essentially be glassed, killing the world entirely. In total, within virtually an instant,
12 billion souls will evaporate and be sent screaming into the imitarium. The sheer volume of
immediate death would blind navigators, burnout astropaths, and for a brief moment, the psychic energy
that emitted from Isvan 3 would shine brighter,
and louder than the Astronomicon itself,
all before fading into absolute nothingness.
And, you know, there you go.
You say flammable gas.
When you have a, when you have a bomb like that,
technically all gas can be flammable, you know?
Well, really, yeah.
You know, all things can be flammable.
If you just hit it hard.
If you try hard enough, I suppose.
That's not.
But yeah, I, before reading this,
I didn't know that that was a thing.
that happened with like life eater warheads.
I was just like, oh yeah, it just lets out a little disease.
Awful, awful disease, little disease, he said.
A little disease?
Yeah, just a little disease.
Put that on a shirt, just a little disease.
And the shirt is covered with the life eater virus.
Anyway, I just thought the disease came out and just ate everything.
I didn't know that you could also just set that bitch on fire and just do that.
It's crazy.
Also, like, wouldn't there be like a warp or a chaos god that gets like absolutely fucking supercharged by that burning and all that death and all that conflagration?
Surely.
You said 12 billion people, right?
Surely.
That's 12 billion people in an instant.
That's, it's got to be.
It's horrific.
What is that?
What is that shy in a moose bush for a, for a freaking chaos god?
It's 12 billion.
12 billion tie every minute in 40K.
I guess that's true.
Yeah, but no, you do, if you do kill 12 billion people,
you do get rewarded pretty heavily by the chaos gods.
They do like you for that.
True, true.
Now, granted, they already like Horace a lot,
so, you know, I think it's fine.
They're mostly just sat out of the going,
yeah, we picked the right one.
Yeah, that's, this was a good call.
nice work eribus
they're all there with their palm palms like
rah rah he's our guy if he can't do it
yeah
do you think uh
actually this is a genuine lore question here
um do you think
horace
because he got souped up on chaos juice right
do you think he got souped up on chaos juice
more and more because of acts like this
like do we know exactly when his juices
started getting souped
that is a that is a very good question
to which I don't know
the answer, but my gut feeling would be surely, surely this kind of mass slaughter, this kind of,
also kind of fulfilling a lot of different things.
Mass, what?
Oh, he said what?
Yeah, you would think that.
Or maybe it's like the chicken and the egg.
They souped him up, so he started doing these things
versus like the other way around.
I don't know.
I don't know.
How many peptides do you think he was taken?
You think they gave him a little chaos treat after doing this?
They're like, oh, good boy.
He was a good boy.
He was a treat.
And then he grows up on the other foot.
Yeah, exactly.
His biceps get just a little bigger.
Yeah.
A little relaxing whiff of chaos crack.
Is it shy?
Just take a fraction of the power from that and then just hand it over to him and go,
you can have some more if you do it again.
You can have some of it do it again.
We love our little chaos crackhead.
Horace, the chaos crackhead is a crazy description.
He is what it is, man.
It is what it is.
What do you want?
It's not wrong.
So we kind of had our blinders up there for a bit when it came to all the goings on in orbit,
much like Horace himself, which has meant that we've missed the same things that he did.
But we're going to go back to it because frankly, things in orbit were not as clean as he would have hoped,
and without realizing it, the effectiveness of his plan had been undone before the missiles had even launched.
Prior to the launching of the life-eat-leighty, oh my God, life-eater weaponry, wow, two individuals would discover the truth of the plot.
As we said before, not all the loyalists were on the surface, and Saul Tarvitz was on the Andronicus feeling a bit suspicious about everything going on.
The reclaiming of extremists didn't really sit well with him, and he was a bit uneasy about who was and who wasn't on the surface of Isvan 3, including Idleon.
Tarvitz would begin to notice munitions on the ship were being.
being transferred without much explanation, and upon further investigation, he would find that
the cyclonic torpedoes were being armed. He put two and two together and concluded that Horace
was ushering in an act of absolute betrayal, and decided that those on the surface would need
to be notified. He only had minutes to react, so under heavy fire, he stole a Thunderhawk
gunship and made a break for it. Now, Idleon would send ships to take him down, as they could not
let anyone escape. They just couldn't afford the warning to get out. The issue was that there was only
really one ship that could do anything meaningful against Tarvitz Thunderhawk, since he had quite a
head start, and that ship was the Eisenstein. Now, we mentioned the Eisenstein. Everything that
happens on the Eisenstein, we're not going to go into in this episode, because flight of the
Eisenstein is one of the densest Horacey books, and it's absolutely insane how much is packed
into that, and a good chunk of it isn't necessarily relevant to Isvan 3 specifically, but if you
haven't read it, you should go and read it. So much happens, it's unreal. But on the Eisenstein,
Nathaniel Garrow was recovering when he would be put into a fairly tough situation, because he got
an order from Idleon. Fugitive Thunderhawk is absolutely.
acting against the warmaster's commands and is to be considered a renegade.
All fleet elements are ordered to destroy the ship on site.
Now, that's quite a surprising thing to receive,
and it seemed a bit weird that one Thunderhawk had decided to turn traitor,
so Garrow demanded a ship-to-ship link with the escaping vessel.
He didn't want to shoot something down without knowing why.
Once the link was established, he found out that it was his good pal Saul Tarvitz,
and he would ask what was going on, and Tarvitz would have desperation in his voice when he would say that the fleet is going to bomb the surface with the Life Eater virus.
And I've got a quote for you here, Bricky.
Oh boy!
Their voices overlapped one another in loud profusion, and Sendek heard only snatches of Garo's conversation with Tarvitz.
On my life, I swear, I do not lie to you, cried the captain.
Sendek's commander sagged, as if the...
the weight of the man's claim was pressing down on him.
He caught Tarvitz's final frustrated words.
Every Astardis on Istvon 3 is going to die.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Yeah. He's not wrong.
Tarvitz, it turns out, almost entirely correct.
So Garrow would order weapons ready and would fire just not at Saul.
Instead, shooting those pursuing him, allowing Tarvitz to escape securely to the surface of
Isvan 3. Questions will begin to formulate on the deck regarding the betrayal of orders,
and Garrow would say that Tarvitz's word is worth a thousand of idyllons.
Hell yeah, it is.
All Tarvis is a badass. Love that guy.
Absolutely rules. And before long, they would uncover betrayal among his own ranks within
the Eisenstein, as the launch tubes on the ship were also being readied for exterminators.
Moving in a decisive and measured manner, Garrow would successfully secure the Eisenstein,
and send a warning to the death guard on the surface of the oncoming betrayal.
Now, Tarvitz would make it to the surface of the planet just in time to warn the others.
The loyalists barely had any time to react,
as they would force themselves into the catacombs
and attempt to seal the entryways against the impact they're about to face.
Some would stand defiantly and ensure that survivors would be secured
even if it meant sacrificing themselves.
Few moments encapsulate this better than the fourth great company deathguard captain Ullis Temeter,
who would usher in as many men as he could while actively putting himself at risk.
Venerable dreadnought Huron Fowl would urge him to return inside,
as he was not as secure as a dreadnought, would be in such an attack.
The explosions would go off and both of them would get surrounded by the dead,
while Huron Fowl would carry the grievously wounded Tameter to the bunker as best he could.
As this occurred, Tameter noticed that the dreadnought wasn't as secure as he said it was.
There's a crack in the carapace that meant he was,
exposed to the life eat of virus as well.
Fowl would say that the reason for lying was veterans prerogative
and he'd say that they should go together away from the bunker to protect the others
before carrying temeter into the miasma as they both begin to liquefy.
And I've got another quote for you, DK.
Great, after that part, I love a good liquefication quote.
I say I've got one for you. I have.
It would just help if I actually copy-pasted it successfully.
Wow, failure. There we go.
It took every last effort from temeter to nod.
Blinded now, he could feel the tissues of his eyes burning and shriveling in his head,
the soft meat of his lips and tongue dissolving.
Huron-Fal systems were on the verge of shutdown as he stumbled to a safe distance,
skidding to a halt.
This death, rasped the water, rasped the water, this death is ours.
We choose it.
We deny you your victory.
With a single burning nerve impulse, the mind of the warrior at the heart of the dreadnought,
uncoupled the governor controls of his compact fusion generator, and let it overload.
For a moment, there was a tiny star on the battered plains outside the Coral City,
marking two more lives lost within a maelstrom of murder.
Malesstrom of murder, nice.
Nice writing, eh?
liquefy is quite a phrase, mind you.
Yeah.
The soft meat of his lips and tongue, mind you.
Not just his tongue, that soft meat.
Discracts you from the fact that you can feel the tissue of your eyes burning and shriveling.
I mean, all of it is just absolutely horrific.
Yeah, don't like it.
Huron fell, though.
He went out like an absolute hero.
Oh, hell yeah.
What a way to go.
Great.
genuinely very good bit of writing. Very good part of it that book.
So the combined effort of Tarvitz and Garrow would ensure that two-thirds of the loyalists
would be able to seek airtight shelter in the catacombs of the world in order to protect themselves
and survive. Outside of those two major things in orbit, some other nonsense was happening up
there, both during and after the bombardment. Due to there being loyalists on the ships above,
the traitors on each of the ships had to do clean-up duty there to thin the ranks. The
stunning nature of the events on the surface made this easy on most ships, as many loyalists
were too shocked to react to the knives in their backs. Others, though, would immediately fight back,
like the torpedo monitoring ship, the decroy. The loyalists on board that ship would
successfully reclaim the gun batteries and would turn to fire on the rest of the fleet. Great, great work
off them. In fact, it would successfully take out a few escort ships and do some major damage to the
killing star. Unfortunately, the fun wouldn't last too long and it would be torn to shreds.
The fighting on another ship, the Sunstone, was so heavy between the Loyalists and the
traitors that it would face a reactor meltdown and explode. There was also an instance of a ship
kind of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Mechanicum Auto-Roducter Gaglias
Zertzzi's 977 was a bit late to the whole planning phase of this and the admec were not
privy to Horace's plans, so they just watched all these horace unfold,
while being confused as all hell.
They were told to surrender.
They said no.
And so they were shot down and landed on the surface of the now dead world.
Yeah, it seems a little confusing.
Sure.
Sure.
I wonder what the binaic chant for, what the fuck is happening?
What do we do?
Like, how long and confusing?
It's just that buffering sound of like old modems.
You know, any.
Yeah.
It's just the dial-up tone, and that's all you get out of them.
Yeah.
The most important split-second moment in orbit at this point, however, was the full reclaiming of the Eisenstein.
It was, as already established, pretty far out from the rest of the fleet.
The shooting around Saul's ship was a good enough smoke screen to buy them some time,
so they could mask as being traitors.
And they would report an issue with their fusion generator,
forcing them to move even further back from formation as a means to prevent a cascade effect
in the event of a core breach.
They knew that this would only buy them
enough time to fire up their engines and leave.
The Eisenstein lacked the speed
that the other ships had,
so a clean getaway wouldn't be easy.
Instead, they would need to follow an indirect course
to dodge gunfire and put other ships
into the firing arc so they could slip away.
One ship that they would need to pass by
would be the terminus est,
where a very suspicious typhan would be sitting.
That is some,
That is some bad look right there.
Yeah.
He would get word of the issues of ball the Eisenstein
and immediately send the Terminus Est on an intercept course.
The Eisenstein would take hits,
so much so that the Gellerfield would be unable to stabilize
as they prepared to jump to war.
In the process, they would snag other refugees from other ships,
but they would have to go soon.
And I've got another quote for you, Bricky.
Once again, oh boy.
From this forward consoles, Vot called out,
Captain, the ship Scalorfield will not stabilize.
Perhaps we should abort the warp jump.
If we enter the Imitarium, it may fail completely and the ship will be unprotected.
You have only one choice, Nathaniel, said Keeler softly.
There will be no abort, deck officer.
Gero watched the shock unfold on Descius' face as he spoke.
Take us in.
Yeah, that's really your only option.
It's stay or die and jump.
and pray. Which are you going to do?
Pretty much.
I mean, they're not praying much, don't yet.
You know, this is, we're not there.
We're not praying yet.
This is just being a baller about it.
Roll, roll the dice.
I know, there isn't really, there isn't really.
What just, even hope seems a bit weird for, for Marine in that instance.
Just, you know, do the duty.
Get in there.
Get in there and if things go wrong, they go wrong.
So the Eisenstein would take flight.
Possum has written down.
They should write a book about it or something.
Bambu-Bs.
Oh.
Anyway.
Just for you also, Possom, Shia said, ha-ha-ha, fuck you, minus two.
You need to make sure that first part gets in there.
Not just the minus two, but also, hey, go fuck yourself, Possum.
Continue, period.
I should always read the full quote.
No, I got a shot.
I know that there is a book called The Flight of the Eisenstein.
We almost read it for the rest in peace book club.
To be honest, it would make for a good app slash book club because so much happens, it's unreal.
Anyway, back to the surface of Visfan 3.
After the bombing, communications on the surface would crackle to life.
Some would be attempts to speak to other folks on the planet in order to see if there were other survivors,
while other signals shot to the stars demanding answers or just, you know, screaming in defiance.
There had never been such an event like this before, and even the mere concept of their prime
arcs betraying them drove many of the survivors mad.
Now, survivors on the surface was an unexpected issue, and the number of survivors being
around 70,000 greatly offended horrors.
Yeah, there were a shocking amount of survivors, yeah.
I like how's greatly offended.
he's mad about this
He's not just mad like I'm angry
He is like this is an offense to my personal bit
Mm-hmm
How dare you screw up my master plan
I was supposed to be getting rid of a hundred thousand of you
In one fell swoop
And the majority of you are still here
What the facial problem
They like hidden bunkers
And like the Titans had to really like shut down everything
And like put a seal on everything
Tons of people start
vibe. It's crazy.
Yeah.
So shy said, Horace response.
It was a misinput.
Miss input. Calm down.
Calm. Fuck down.
There was a rewrite of the Istfan 3 incident with Horace just desperately
gaslighting.
No, no, no. Don't worry.
No, no. I meant to hit the healing torpedo and the heat torpedo.
They both have H in it. They're right next to each other.
The buttons are right there.
H-E-A. I just.
The T looked like an L.
I just, you can't blame me for that, man.
So true.
Poor guy.
Poor guy.
Oh, yeah, poor guy.
Poor guy.
Porn out of Horus.
He was just doing.
Yeah.
The Warmaster's a lot of pressure, man.
It's easy to make mistakes in the heat of battle when you're not actually in the fight yourself.
Get the, the meme of the superhero with the rag on his head and he doesn't know which button to press.
That's Horace.
That's Horace.
Poor getting close to like hashtag Horace did nothing wrong territory here.
Nah.
Now the death of those on the surface was to be assured.
And defying this death was defying a direct directive from the warmaster of himself.
So at this point he would have to begin carefully planning some countermeasures
in order to do a second bombardment to ensure that no one was left alive.
The thing is Horace was actually.
angry. You know who else was angry? You can probably guess who else was angry.
The name is. Everybody?
Oh, Lucius, or do you mean Angron? Like, which, which joke are we making?
About angry.
Oh, yeah. He is very angry, isn't he?
He is. He was not, I think the phrase is not happy about what had happened. So he
did what he normally does, which is don't take any time to play.
plan anything out and just run at the problem face first.
So blinded by rage, thanks to the defiance on the surface,
Angron and 50 companies of World Eaters would rush down in drop pods to hunt them down.
As you can imagine, he did not run this by Horace or anyone else,
so all Horace could do is just watch as Angron Leroy Jenkins himself onto the surface.
Yep.
Angron thought he was doing the right thing, but obviously he wasn't.
And right, actually.
Let's be honest.
There was no other than you involved.
You say, yeah, you say the right thing like he was doing something noble when
in reality is being the thing that would kill the most people at the time.
Yeah.
He actually ended up buying the survivors a lot more time as Horace couldn't afford to just bomb the surface
and potentially cause massive amounts of infighting between those who defected to chaos,
which is pretty funny in hindsight, given.
Given what happens in 40K now, the Astartis on the surface were completely blindsided
and were struggling to come to terms with everything that was happening around them.
They'd been betrayed, not just by their brothers, but by their fathers.
The only thing they'd been guilty of was being genetically sound in their duty.
They'd served the emperor and their legions perfectly, and they were being punished for it.
Now, I've got another quote for you here, D.K.
All right.
Astartis, Loken shouted.
You all know what has happened and I share your pain and outrage,
but I need you to focus on what we must now do
and not let passion blind you to the cold facts of war.
Bonds of brotherhood have been shattered,
and we are no longer the sons of Horace.
That name has no meaning for us now.
We are once again the Luna Wolves, soldiers of the emperor.
Nice. Nice.
He does a good rallying speech, does Logan.
He does very good.
He does. Isn't Loken one of the people that convinced him to change the name to Sons of Horace?
Because he didn't want to do it.
Ooh.
Because he thought it was a little, a little, you know, a little too high brow.
I'm like, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, was it.
Was it, was it the lawn of all and Loken helped with the, yeah, I think so.
Do like, you know, that look, and gay. He's a cool cat.
He is.
It's so nice that.
everything works out for him and nothing horrible happens.
The unified command of the...
He just says these things.
He just says these things out loud.
Yep, he sure does.
The unified command of the loyalists would be as follows.
From the Empress Children, you've got Saul Tarvitz,
who would be the tactical coordinator and would work to establish chokepoint and barricade.
Similarly, ancient Rylinal would work to fortify the defensive lines.
Garviel, Loken, and Tarryll.
Torgadden of the Sons of Horus would be the frontline forces, sorry, the lunar wolves,
reclaiming themselves as lunar wolves and rejecting their name. Oh, and remember that Admec ship
that crashed? Well, they didn't all die. Majos Calab Decimer would operate from the ship
and would deploy ordnance servitors to allow for fortification. The landing of Angron marks the first
direct assault from the traitors against their own legions on the surface as he and his
berserkers would rush into the bunkers and begin to cull the survivors. The butcher's
nails on all his men would begin to scream, causing the battle to rapidly devolve into a bloody melee.
Shocking, absolutely no one.
Yeah.
And, Bricky, I've got a quote for you here.
All right.
Oh, big one.
The Primark smashed through the ruins like a juggernaut.
He bellowed insanely with one sweep of his chain axe, carved two loyal world eaters in two,
bringing his offhand axe down to bite through the torso of a thirm.
His traitor world eaters dived over the rubble, blasting with pistols or stabbing with chain blades.
Die, bellowed Captain Elrin as the loyalists countercharged, throwing themselves into the enemy as won.
Thousands of world eaters were locked in a terrible hurricane of carnage, scrambling to get one another.
At the center of the bloody hurricane was Angron, massive and terrible as he laid about him with his axes.
Captain Elrin crashed down a short distance from him
and the world eater's eyes flickered over Tarvitz before he rolled onto his back
and pulled himself to his feet.
A pack of world eaters descended upon him,
piling him to the ground and working at him as though they were carving up a side of meat.
God damn.
Real class acts, those world eaters.
Yeah.
More like class axe.
I don't like that I actually found that.
I'm not happy about that at all.
I don't think we can read what Shai told me to do.
People will know by this point if they can guess.
Well, we won't say the quiet part out loud, but you know what she said.
I really like the descriptor of as though they were carving up a side of meat.
I hope that, you know, a butcher isn't carving up a side of meat the way that world eaters carve up things.
Because you're not going to get a good cut out of that, are you?
No, you're going to get ground beef.
True.
I take it to ground pork, yeah.
Over 7,000 men would fall in this horrific incident.
And upon the conclusion, Angron would look upon the bodies of his dead sons before yelling,
it is well done before having his men fan out through the city and hunt.
down stragglers like vermin. The world eaters suffered catastrophic losses and they wouldn't be the
only ones. The loyalists, however, would have some degree of an upper hand thanks in part to the
destruction itself. The storms on the surface, thanks to the ordinances, made it so that the super
heavy weaponry couldn't land and nor could gun ships. And the assumption from the traitors that
they were the ones with the real upper hand would lead to a bit of the old arrogance on their part
as they'd send other numbers down in an attempt to quell the survivors. Idlon would lead the next
major assault and he would feel like he had quite a bit to prove to Horus. It was of course partially
Saul Tarvitz's fault that so many Astati survived, so he wanted to redeem the Empress children
in the eyes of Horus himself. He would lead an assault against the Precentaurs Palace and would not
expect the extreme resistance he would face courtesy of Tarvis and Loken. The hit-and-run ambushes
that they would unleash would force Idleon and his men to ping-pong around before tactically
pulling back.
One particularly big thorn in the side of Idleon was ancient Rylenor, because he's an absolute
fucking legend.
The Dreadnought was shockingly effective, not only in taking out traitors, but also serving
as a visual reminder of the past glory of the Empress children, causing some of the
traitors to buckle.
There are also many times where the traitors thought they'd successfully taken him out,
but then he would suddenly rise from the rubble an exact revenge.
Let's go.
In all of it.
Shit, idle on.
In orbit, the survivors would actually successfully draw blood directly under Horace's nose.
A storm eagle, piloted by a member of the sons of Horace, would return to the Minasaur,
and after displaying codes allowing its re-entry into the ship, would vox its intention to avenge the blood of terror
before going full speed into a row of gunships while unloading Las Canaan blasts.
What's called?
Oh, yeah.
So good.
it would, doing this, successfully kill a full company of legionaries.
Holy shit.
Of course.
Well done, gall.
What a manoeuvre.
I can't get over that.
That's ridiculous.
So the death toll was rising, but it was surprisingly in the favor of the loyalists in many respects.
Horace was wildly successful in the first part of this nightmare,
but it seemed that it was crumbling around him in the second half.
at least for those in the city.
The Death Guard, however, were not faring quite as well.
In the North West, the Death Guard were dug into the trench lines and bunkers
when they faced a nightmarish pincer.
From the city came Angron and his World Eaters,
who began to hammer the backlines of the Death Guard
and hatched them to the point where they left everyone within a red ruin of flesh
and shattered Ceremine.
Sounds about right for Angron.
But the true horror would be what approached them from beyond the city war.
Mortarian landed and would approach.
The trenches would be smashed with heavy gunfire
and the Reaper Primark would take the heads of his own men.
The overwhelming nature of this conflict, dubbed the veil of grief,
would cause some of the men who stood with Mortarian to buckle
and turn their guns on the others.
It devolved into chaos that resulted in Mortarian suffering an alleged injury,
but this wouldn't stop his onslaught as he would continue to bludgeon the survivors.
The nightmare was spreading across the planet,
as the forces of the traitors marched inward.
After two months, the storms on the surface would begin to fade sufficiently enough
for the traitors to fully reinforce and land more weaponry to devastating effect.
That early warning was, I mean, crazy.
What was supposed to be a one-and-done killing blow getting rid of 100,000 loyalists
turned into a two-month war that had a ton of forces committed.
Just to finish the job.
Crazy.
I was going to say, just like,
this is the same place that got bombed by many Lifesteeler warheads that got ignited, too.
And it's like to two more months?
God, dang.
You know, you know, I got to give Horace a little bit of credit here.
Like, he did do the Air on Fire bomb.
He sure did.
Kind of thought he would get him.
Yeah, I thought that'd be it.
You'd think there'd be a couple stragglers, but two months?
It's a devastating amount of failure for what was, let's face it, a very, very good plan.
Like, on paper, should have worked.
Absolutely should have worked.
But, you know, Saul Tarvitz is too much of a legend.
So they're single-handedly screwed everything up for him.
Lovely.
Now, at this moment, the Precenter's Palace was still.
held by the loyalists and Sirenhold was still successfully held by Loken's lunar wolves,
but catastrophic damage was soon to arrive, and not all incoming damage was done to these
survivors externally. In the ranks of the Emperor's children, Captain Lucius was not having
a good time in these categories. What piece of shit. He was seething with jealousy over Saul
Tarvitz and began to crave the favour of Idleon and his gene father. He would seize a communicator
and contact Idleon and would begin a plan to betray his fellow comrades
while also promising Idleon the glory of getting the head of Saul Tarvitz himself.
Lucius would kill Captain Solomon Demeter and 30 other men
allowing for the expansion of a breach in the palace gate.
Lucius would face Saul, but Saul had more reinforcements,
forcing Lucius to scurry back.
Though Tarvitz had won, the end was near as he looked among those who remained.
And I've got under the quote for you, D.K.
Oh, that son of a bitch.
A hundred of Tarvitz's loyalists remained.
They were the only survivors of their glorious last stand,
and he had gathered them in the remains of the war singer's temple,
sons of Horace, emperors, children,
and even a few lost-looking world eaters.
Oh, God.
Tarvitz noticed that there were no deathguard in their numbers,
thinking that perhaps a few had survived Mortarians' scouring of the trenches,
but knowing that they might as well have been on the other side of Ishton 3.
This was the end. They all knew it, but none of them gave voice to that fact. He knew all their names now. Before they had just been grime-streaked faces among the endless days and nights of battle, but now they were brothers. Men he would die with in honor. Gosh, also, can we just a few lost-looking world eaters? Yeah, I bet. Fucking A dude.
glassy-eyed completely out of their mind world eaters
that somehow survived Angron's hurricane of murder.
Facts.
They have had, even by the standards of Isvan 3, a terrible time.
Yes.
I like how you said as the standards of Isvon 3,
because I do think that's important to note.
That, like, this is all bad, but for them,
It's like particularly, it can get worse.
Yeah.
They're like, brother, I'm ready to check out.
Are we going?
Am I dead yet?
Because I'm ready to go, brother.
It's too much.
Take me home.
I know they said that if you yank the butcher's nails out, you'll die.
Is it worth trying it?
I mean, if it goes wrong, at least at least we're checking out of this fight early.
Give it a shot, brother.
It couldn't get any words, cut it, yeah.
The true terror from orbit would come when Horus would unleash the analogy for his wrath.
A task force of 30 companies of sons of Horus would be led by Abidon, and they would land in the southwest,
with heavy-armoured support and his elite justering.
Abazon and his men would be an unrelenting and unstoppable wrecking ball,
and would flatten any resistance they would encounter.
In his wake, fresh titans from Lidio Mortis and Lidio Ordax would land,
and reinforce those titans that were still on the surface from the initial
bombing. They would find themselves supported by a horrific force of dark Mechanicum, and their
warp corruption would hang around them like a shroud. And I've got another quote for you, Bricky.
All right. Isvon 3 was forced upon us by the inability of small minds to understand reality, said
Avedon. Do you think I have been a part of this and that I am here because I enjoy killing my
brothers? I believe, Locum, as surely as you do. There are powers.
in this galaxy, even the emperor does not understand.
If he leaves humanity to wither on the vine in his selfish quest for godhood,
then those powers will swamp us and every single human being in the galaxy will die.
Can you understand the enormity of that concept?
The whole human race, the war master does, and that is why he must take to the emperor's
place to deal with these threats.
It's such a weird
Like
Not weird
The whole thing of
Look there's all these horrendous threats out there
So we must stop the emperor
From doing this thing that we're not
We've just been told he's doing
And kill him and everyone else
To deal with all these threats
Whilst actively working alongside
One of the biggest of them
It's like wild to read again
The only way to stop the internet
coming threat is to kill the emperor.
What?
Are you sure?
Yeah, I'm positive.
Voices told me.
What?
Yeah.
I mean, isn't it like just overthrowing like an incompetent leader?
Isn't that kind of how they're phrasing it in order?
Yeah.
Basically.
Yeah.
It's still the doing it and planning it while you've got things like the dark mechanic
and walking alongside you.
Stuff that is just, you know, horrific in nature and created through.
pain and torture and all sorts,
it's, there's got to be a part that's like,
I mean, this is, this also seems quite bad.
What's happening right now with that lot over there,
the ones that seem to be, you know,
sacrificing people to make weird demon engines,
that seems like it could also be a problem.
Ah, don't worry about it.
Erebus, man, he's got that, he's got that silver tongue.
Fuck, Airbus, you got a,
persuaded everyone.
Mark that off on you.
your pingo cards everyone, fuck Airbus.
It's got to be done at least once
an episode. Now, eventually
Abadon's Justarian would encounter
the remnants of the lunar wolves and Abadon
himself, along with Little Horace, would
encounter Loken and Togadden
directly in the ruins of the Coral
City. The fall would engage
in combat. Loken knew
that this was fruitless as he was fundamentally
outmatched by the likes of Abidon and he
knew he needed Tarrick to help him take
down this threat. But unfortunately
Taruk would fall at the hands of
Little Horus.
Aberdon would deliver a near fatal blow to Loken, but before the final blow could be struck,
the ruins that they were fighting in were crushed by the Diaz-Ira, covering them in rubble.
Abadon successfully rescues Little Horus, and they leave the ruins behind, believing
Loken to be dead.
The work of the traitors have been done, and they were ready to finalise their assault
before moving onward.
And I've got one last quote for you, D.K.
All right.
flashes of explosions bloomed in the city's north,
shooting stars punched through the dark clouds overhead,
scorching holes through which the glimmering stars could be seen.
The stars shone down on the coral city in time to watch the city die.
Did we hurt them, Captain? asked Solothan.
Did this mean anything?
Tarvitz thought for a moment before replying.
Yes, he said, we hurt them here.
They'll remember this.
well that's not sad and awful and you know
yeah that's that's his fan three
yeah true true enough that is on brand for the episode
no you're right you're right you're right you're right you're right
the catacombs of the world would be filled with fosfex
in an attempt to kill all those who remained hidden
the traitors did succeed in the events of his fan three
but the victory was pyrrhic at best for them
virtually all 100,000 loyal space marines would fall
and over 12 billion human lives would be lost in general.
But the traitors were not immune to these losses.
An untold but major number of traitors would also die on Isfantri,
attempting to enact the will of Horace,
but the biggest loss would be in the form of the element of surprise.
The escape of the Eisenstein would help in spreading the word of the warmaster's betrayal.
But ultimately, the galactic fire lit by Horace was burning uncontrollably by this point,
and his eyes were set on another world.
He would pulverize the surface with conventional warheads one last time before leaving Isfant 3.
His next goal, when it came to the overthrowing of the emperor, wasn't in some random faraway system, nor was it on terror quite yet.
It was conveniently, just around the corner, on Istvan 5.
And then you play that little song that happens at the end of the audible books.
Yeah, that was Isvan 3, narrated by Kirste.
Kirov, written by strawberry possum.
Dude,
I was thinking the exact same thing.
I was thinking the same thing, dude.
I was about to go into that bit on my own.
I'm so glad that same brain cells just bouncing around everybody.
Nice.
I love that bit.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, that is true.
Like the real issue there is definitely the element of surprise being gone.
Go Gero.
I love the fact that.
Also, as, as Horace is leaving, he's like, drop a couple more bombs on those fucker, they?
Yeah.
Just in case, I don't know, they might, someone might have survived.
Like, just drop a couple more.
Fuck those cats.
God.
Ruin everything.
Two months I wasted.
Son of a bitch.
It's going to be like a 50-50 of making sure they're dead and just being really sulky about it.
Yeah.
Just be like, just hit it again, all right?
Just hit it again.
I'm sick of this fucking planet.
Hit it again.
Exactly.
Rylanor does survive.
So true.
So true.
And he still didn't kill Rhinanor.
Yeah.
Or Loken, for that matter.
Spoiler alert.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Damn.
How old are those books?
How old is the book where they find him again now at this point?
I mean, they certainly alluded to killing Loken in the, in the term book.
But yeah.
Yeah.
Obviously, no.
You know, there we go.
That was just Vand 3.
It was awful.
It sucked for everybody.
But it did also suck for the traitors.
So that's something.
Yeah, I mean, it really sucked for everybody.
Yeah, but I say really, really sucked for the loyalists, mind you.
But it also sucked for the traitors.
Except for maybe Angron, which everything sucks for him in general.
But like, I think he really, maybe he's the only person who had a somewhat okay time.
Yeah.
What did you say?
He killed 7,000 of his loyal sons or something.
Like, Jesus.
Man, man went to the all you can eat buffet and said, bet.
Like, yeah.
Angron chill.
Goofy, goofy times.
Goofy is goof.
All right, well, are we doing Isvon 5 next?
I don't remember that's it.
Surely we must, right?
Surely.
Can't just go Isvon 3 and then be like, oh yeah, we're talking about orcs next week, right?
You can't do that.
All right, play the sound effect.
Do-na-na-na-na-da-na-da-da.
