It's tempting to call it luck. But a dangerously lucky woman isn't simply blessed. She has trained herself to expect good things, interpret life in her favor, and stay regulated enough to actually receive more.In this episode, I'm breaking down luck as an identity — not a roll of the dice. We start with Oprah, fired from her first news anchor job before she became one of the most powerful voices in media, and the truth that what looks like rejection is so often redirection. Then we get into the science: how your brain filters reality based on what you expect, and how your nervous system quietly decides what you're allowed to hold. You'll walk away with the 8 core mindsets — and the 3 layers of mind, body, and action — that turn an ordinary woman into the woman everything works out for. You'll learn:- Why luck is a trained identity, a nervous system state, and a perception filter — not randomness- How to reframe closed doors as protection and redirection instead of proof you're not chosen- The expectation shift that makes your brain a search engine for possibility instead of disappointment- Why luck meets you in motion — and how staying hidden keeps you "unlucky"- How to build the capacity to actually hold the miracle when it arrives- The mindset of "this or something better" — holding the vision without choking the pathThis is the work of becoming the woman life loves to bless. Not by forcing it. By becoming available to it.✨ WORK WITH ME: Ready to effortlessly live your dream life? Hello and welcome to this episode of the Alignment with Jen Podcast. I am your host, Jen Detsasey,
and today we are going to be talking all about how to become a dangerously lucky woman and the
mindsets, the perspective, the energy of being really incredibly lucky. And I want to kind of
open this up with a story about Oprah, because Oprah is a wildly powerful manifester and also a really,
really lucky woman. And I think it's really interesting to recognize that her very first job in
television she was fired from because they said that she wasn't right for television, which is such
an interesting thing because at that point, she kind of had two paths that she could take.
She could either have been like, yeah, they're probably right. Like, I'm not right for television,
right? Or she could have done what she did and she just kept going, right? And then she built this massive
empire through television. She literally completely proved that.
wrong. And that is such a powerful teaching of the mindset of a lucky woman. Because a lucky woman
is not someone who looks for the outside to tell her what's possible for her. She decides
internally and that becomes reflected back to her. So I want to go in this episode and I really
want to talk about basically like how do you become really, really lucky, way more lucky.
I feel like one of the things that I've always felt is that I'm really, really lucky. My
entire life, even as a kid, I always believed I was really lucky. And I think that's one of the reasons that I have
always been lucky is simply because I believe it. Right. And so what are these mindsets? What are these
beliefs that we can teach our mind? So our mind begins to filter reality to prove that we are
exceptionally lucky. And that results in us creating more and more opportunities and experiences that we desire.
So buckle up because you're about to get way more lucky. Okay. So the first concept I want to kind of share is that a
lucky woman is not a passive woman. It's not a woman who just sits there and waits for things to come to her.
She's very engaged. She's very active in life. But it's her way of viewing situations that allows her to
create more and more and more luck. It's almost like you light a small little flame like this candle here,
right? And it continues to burn and to grow. And that's the idea of luck. You become luckier and
luckier, the more that you cultivate these mindsets. So the first mindset of the lucky girl is that
I am always being led. I am always guided. So the lucky girl recognizes that her life is a co-creation
between her and the universe. She is not doing it alone. She's not trying to struggle and figure it out
alone. I think most of our stress comes from this forgetting that we are always supported and
always guided. And it is our ability to see, to open up our mind to be able to see that guidance
that allows it to be present in our life. If we don't believe in it, we're not going to experience
it because we're going to filter it out. And so it is recognizing and it is operating from this
foundational principle that I'm not doing this alone. I am supported. I am guided. Every single
obstacle that I may face, I'm never facing it alone because life is a co-creation. If you think that
you are creating life by yourself, then you're missing so much. Because I guarantee, if you look
through the lens of your past, there's things that have worked out for you that you never expected.
There's things that you have no idea how they happened like that, but they happen like that.
Right. And you look at it through this lens of like, wow, I have been so lucky. I have been so guided.
Tony Robbins calls it grace. And he said that a big part of his success is, yes, the fact that he's a hard worker, right?
yes, that he is so dedicated.
But he said that the third piece is really, it's grace.
It's that he has had this support.
He has been open to this guidance.
And so many successful people, right?
There's the Albert Einstein quote that the more that he studied the universe,
the more that he believed in the presence of a higher power.
Because the more that you lean into the unknown and are met by that supportive force,
the more you recognize that you are led.
We have to release a little bit of control.
we have to be able to surrender into that being led, right?
We have to follow those nudges and those poles of our intuition of,
this makes no logical sense, but I'm going to try it and I'm going to go do it in order
to build and strengthen that belief in this force that is always guiding us.
And with this, there's some like mini sub mindsets I want to mention as well.
One is that delays are not necessarily a bad thing, right?
She recognizes this lucky girl recognizes that if,
if something isn't happening as fast as she wants it to, it's actually a really good thing because
she knows that exactly where she is is exactly where she needs to be in order to get to where
she wants to be, right? She's not like impatiently trying to push her way through life. She's appreciating
and recognizing and enjoying where she is so that way she can create that next level. She knows that if
she's single right now, right, for my single girlies, and she doesn't want to be single. And she's like,
God, why can't I just meet someone? Right? I think we've all probably been there.
Maybe not everyone, but a lot of people have been there in their lives. Recognizing that her
being single right now is actually a massive blessing. And it's preparing her for the caliber of
partner that she really, really, really wants. And so she's leaning into that. And she's making her
single girl era the best era she could make it. Right. She's enjoying herself. She's having fun.
She's filling her vessel now with joy and pleasure and fun. So that way,
when that aligned partner comes in, watch out because he's going to be amazing.
He's going to be amazing.
Mark my words, I promise you he's going to be amazing.
And she also recognizes that closed doors can be protection.
Right?
When I was applying for college, I really wanted to go to UCLA.
I was from the L.A.
I wanted to go.
I didn't get in.
Oh, no, I didn't want to go to UCLA.
I wanted to go to UCSD.
And I didn't get in.
And all my friends, a bunch of my friends got in and I was so jealous.
but I got into UC Santa Barbara.
And I was like, okay, I'll go there.
It's really pretty.
It's on the beach, right?
What was me?
And I met my best friend.
And my best friend is like one of my soulmates in my lifetime.
She's like, it's a deep, really amazing friendship.
I talked to her every single day.
And if that door hadn't been closed, I never would have met her.
I'm so glad that freaking door was closed because I never would have met her.
Right.
So looking at your life and things that don't work out as like, all right, cool.
like obviously something better is coming for me because I'm a lucky girl and lucky girls only good
things come to them so this closed door thank you I didn't want that if you don't want me to have that
I didn't want that number two everything is a blessing or a redirection okay everything is good right
I've talked about this this is a theme through basically every episode everything is good
even when you don't know why it's good it's going to be good for you okay every challenge there's
beauty within that, right? It's the golden lining and finding that in every circumstance. Because if we
are filtering our life for things that we don't want, right, and feeling bad for ourselves, that has a
compound effect that just gets worse and worse. When things don't go her way, when it doesn't go the
lucky girl's way, she recognizes that it's not anything about her. She doesn't take it to believe,
I'm not good enough, I'm not chosen, I didn't do enough, right? That's not where she goes.
Where she goes is, okay, well, this wasn't meant for me because something way better is meant for me.
There's something so much more powerful.
I had a client who she went through this really, really difficult divorce.
And our first call that we had, she was crying.
She was super upset.
And after the divorce, her whole life is so different in so many amazing and beautiful ways.
Because she really leaned in to this lucky girl energy.
Right.
Now she is working with the Guatemalan government to help them.
She's a lawyer and she's helping them with all these different projects.
She's grown a social media platform.
She's starting her own business.
She is doing all of these amazing things and she's so happy and she's so fulfilled in a way
that she never would if she had still been with this partner.
Right.
And so doors closing are not necessarily a loss even though they feel like a loss.
Right.
When one door closes, another door always opens.
And the lucky girl knows that.
And she focuses on that opening door rather than that closing door, right? Someone not wanting to be with you or a job not wanting to hire you, fine, right? If they don't see all of the gifts that you have, that's cool because someone else is going to so deeply value those that they're going to be so obsessed with hiring you or dating you. Mindset number three is I expect good things to happen. And the science behind this is really powerful because what we expect,
is what our mind is going to filter reality for. And so when we expect good things to happen,
rather than a lot of people have this mindset of, I need to be prepared for the worst case scenario.
I need to worry about all these things because that makes me feel safe. It makes me feel in
control. But what you don't recognize is that you are actually filtering your reality to find more
reasons to worry. And it's this snowball effect where that snowball keeps getting bigger.
But when you teach your mind and you keep redirecting and redirecting and redirecting your mind to focus on expecting the good things to happen, right? I expect that good things will happen to me every single day. And that's what I experience. And so you want to teach your mind to start filtering reality to find good things that you desire to happen. So instead of what if it doesn't work out? What if I'm rejected? What if I'm disappointed? Instead, it's what if it works?
out better than I could have imagined? What if this is easier than I thought? What if I am more
supported than I realize? These simple, simple shifts within your mind are going to completely
change your life. They will change your entire perspective. And they're so small and so easy to make.
Number four, this is going to be hard for some of you. I move before I feel ready.
So the lucky girl is not the one who is living in preparation mode. She's not constantly
trying to make things work, trying to figure things out, you know, planning A through Z. Because the thing is,
I've learned this. I never will map out something A to Z because I know when I get to C, I'm going to
know so much more than when I was at A. And so my whole path is going to change anyway. Right. And so
the faster that you can move and the more that you can move on those nudges and those poles, the more
powerful you will be. I was at this event this past weekend with a spiritual teacher that I really,
really love. And he was talking about people who are incredibly successful are able to move quickly.
They're not stuck in indecision. They are able to make choices and to make movements faster than other
people. And that comes from self-belief, right? Be trusting yourself, trusting that when you step off
the ledge, you'll figure it out, right? You'll be able to know what to do and trusting the universe,
right? And trusting that, you know, I feel this intuition, this intuitive,
nudge, and so I know when to move. Right. The most powerful place that you can get into is not needing
to logically explain everything, right? Even Steve Jobs, who created one of the most successful
companies in history, said that he trusted his intuition far over logic. Because the thing is,
if you look at the science behind intuition, intuition comes from our subconscious mind. And our subconscious
mind is able to synthesize way larger amounts of information than our conscious mind is. Your subconscious
mind is like a supercomputer, right? You know, in like the 70s, they had those rooms that were like
full of computer. It's kind of like that, but modern, right? A huge supercomputer. Your conscious mind
is much smaller. It processes a lot less information. And so if we are always needing to make
decisions from logic, we're always making decisions from a smaller data set. The most powerful
skill you can cultivate is when you have a knowing, right? You just know, and I know you've all felt
this, you just know something and your body is right for you.
though you can't logically explain it, the more that you know that, the more powerful you will be able
to make these decisions and move more quickly. Because you won't need to logic it out and make a pro and
con list. You'll be able to just move. That comes from learning to trust yourself, right? It also comes from
getting out of survival mode and being able to calm down your system. It comes from being able to
clear those limited beliefs, those doubts, those fears in the subconscious mind. So you're truly
making decisions from that deeper knowing versus your trauma and the negative experiences from your
past and your limited beliefs. Okay. And as always, if this is something that you want support on,
this is what I do with women in my program. I really help them step into that deeper knowing,
clearing out those limited beliefs, right, rewiring their mind to be an alignment. And so you can send
me the word podcast on Instagram. My Instagram is at alignment with Jen.
And I'll send you a short video about that.
Okay, and you can see if that feels right for you.
So that's four is moving before you feel ready.
And this is something that takes practice.
It takes practice in small ways, right?
And a small way could be, you know, I just feel like it feels right for me to go to this event in my city.
I don't know why, but I feel like I want to go, right?
And then you go and you see that you met someone amazing there.
So you start to trust yourself and your intuition more, right?
it's a practice. And then when bigger decisions come, you are better able and better equipped to
follow through with them. When I meet people, right, I talk to so many women every single week,
there's some women that I meet that is really hard for them to make decisions, right? They go back and
forth. The issue with that is you end up wasting your life in indecision. You spend all this time in the same
spot. Those are the people that feel the most stuck, right? But if you can just get yourself to start
trusting yourself through this inner work, then you will make decisions faster and your life will
change almost overnight. This is why it's like not hard to change your life. It's really not.
It's hard to get yourself to commit to changing your life, to making different decisions.
Because as I said in the last episode, every decision is a choice point that fractures into different
timelines, right? A yes or a no is a different timeline. And so when you begin to deeply trust yourself,
you start fracturing and creating new different timelines, and you choose those new timelines
because they're more in alignment with that version you want to be.
Number five, I let life surprise me.
So the lucky girl does not need to have it all figured out.
She's not mapping every single step along the way.
She trusts that life is supporting her.
Something Tony Robbins always says is life supports what supports life.
And it's so true.
if you are someone who is a good person, which I believe everyone listening to this is,
who supports life, right, who has positive intent.
Life wants to support you, right?
I think life wants to support everyone.
Just some people have kind of fallen a little off the path.
Life wants to support you.
And so your desires will be supported, but you have to show up for them, right?
I don't believe that life is ever not supporting anyone.
I believe that it's we're not showing up for our end of the equation.
we're not open to that end of the equation. And this allowing life to surprise you is also a bit about
surrender because when we are having like this chokehold on life where things have to work out a certain
way if they don't, oh my gosh, it's going to be awful. That's from a place of fear and that's from a
place of lack and that's a contracted energy. When we allow ourselves to kind of open up and allow
ourselves to release some of that control and surrender into the flow. One of my good friends was telling me
recently that she just started this new job. And at her last few jobs, she was like the number one
salesperson at these companies. At this new company, she's still building up her pipeline. And she was like,
it's really, really stressful. It's really difficult. And she's like, what I realize is I just have to let
it go. She's like, I cannot control the outcome. I can show up as my best self. But my best self is not the one who's
trying to control it and make it happen. That's a contracted version of me. Right? I'm paraphrasing.
But the most powerful version of you is the version of you who shows up fully and lets it go.
Isn't trying to control the outcome because you trust that it's going to be amazing,
no matter if it's exactly what you want or something even better. And then mindset number six
is I am the woman who can hold miracles. This is about the capacity. It's about being able to
hold the good things. Because oftentimes what I see in my work is that a lot of people will want a new
level, right? Maybe a really good promotion in their career. Maybe they want to go from a career
into a business. That's a lot of people that I work with or they want to grow their business.
And it's about trusting a huge block for people is trusting that when they get into this unknown,
they'll be able to hold it. Same with relationship, right? People will sabotage relationships because
they fear this unknown, right, that unknown level of intimacy. And so it's building and cultivating
that trust in yourself and knowing that I can hold this next level. I have the capacity,
the strength, the power, and I will figure it out. Right? So much of the lucky girl is literally
just trusting yourself and believing in your own power. This can show up as when good things
happen, contracting. I heard Bray Brown tell this story about
about when good things happen, she will immediately start fearing something, like something bad happening
to her family. And it's like this mindset of when is the other shoe going to drop? Right. And that's a
mindset we have to get out of in order to really step into this new level and create it with power
and joy and happiness. Because there's a difference between having the success and it being
really stressful and not feeling good and having the success and it feeling amazing. Right. And
if we're still carrying these fears around the discomfort, right, the struggle of that new space,
then it's going to be more difficult. Number seven, I think this is my favorite. It's I turn everything
into evidence of my power. So I had this business coach a few years ago, and she was amazing. She still
is amazing. She's such an amazing person. And she's grown a really successful business in the
coaching space. She coaches coaches. And something she told me is she's like anything that someone
says isn't a good enough piece about you. She's like, you flip it on its head and you say why it is a
really great aspect to you. And so an example she gave is like one of the women in the program was
saying she didn't feel like she had enough experience compared to other women in her industry.
And this coach was like, you know, actually, you not having the same experience as them is actually
a really, really great thing because you see things differently, right? You see it from a different
perspective. You have a different point of view that you can take to the equation. Right. And so it's thinking
about the things that you feel like are not quite good enough about you and turning them into,
why is this actually a really, really good thing? Right. A lot of people that I've talked to will say,
like, I feel like I could never be wealthy because like no one in my family was wealthy,
right? Like, because they didn't have that experience. But what if that is actually the thing that is
going to perfectly position you to be really wealthy because you have different insights,
different ideas, you have these different experiences, right? I believe that every single aspect of
ourselves, we can actually turn it into a gift if we really, really want to. So it's turning
everything into evidence of your power. So I want to encourage you to kind of think about this
as you go about your day. What are things that you think about you that are not good enough? Oh, I saw
this great reel the other day and it was this girl. People keep telling me I should get a nose job,
was the hook. And I was like, oh, interesting. And she was a really, really beautiful girl. And she had,
I guess, like, not a typical nose, if you want to call it that. She basically listed off all these
reasons why she's not going to get a nose job, even though people keep telling her she should get a
nose job. And she was like, one of them is she's like, I really like that I look unique.
She's like, I want to look different. I don't want to look like everyone else. I just think that's such a
powerful way to look at it, right? Because she's deciding that even though other people are saying that
she needs to change, that she loves who she is and she loves how she looks. And you get to decide that.
No one else gets to decide that. It gets to be evidence of your power. And this woman was so in her power.
It was so cool. And I was like, that is so magnetic to me. That's way more magnetic to me than someone
with a perfect nose. You know, so magnetic. It's about you owning it. You know, have you ever met
someone who had an attribute and they were really self-conscious about it? Right. And then you probably
knew someone else who had, I think of this with like bald men, right? I've known some bald men who
were really, really self-conscious about being bald. Then I've known bald men who like owned it, right?
It didn't matter that any of them were bald, but the ones that owned it had this sexiness,
had this confidence to them, right? And women were attracted to them. The other ones, it wasn't
because they were bald. It was because they didn't own it. They didn't have the confidence, right?
And so what about yourself that you may not like or society may say is not a good thing?
what can you turn into something that you own about yourself and love about yourself?
Right? It's a little bit edgy because society doesn't want us to love these things.
There's a lot of people making a lot of money off of people wanting to be different than they are.
So the last one, eight, is I act like the universe is conspiring in my favor.
This is essentially that life is always on my side.
And it's knowing that if I trust fall, the universe is going to catch me.
and it's knowing that everything is always working out for you because it always is working out for you.
It's not just saying it, right? There's a difference between saying something and actually moving from
that energy. And so the lucky girl, she takes aligned risks, right? She invests in herself in a lined way.
She follows those intuitive nudges even when they don't make sense. She lets herself be seen.
She allows herself to interact and play and enjoy life, right? She's in the arena. She's not
watching from the outside. When things don't go her way or she makes a mistake, that's okay.
She allows herself to do that because she knows that life is always conspiring in her favor.
And this is the last thing I want to leave you with is it's this upward spiral, right?
It's knowing that every single day your life is getting better and better and better.
And I think that mindset makes it really exciting to wake up in the morning when you're like,
dang, today gets to be even better than yesterday and even better than the day before.
and knowing that any challenges or obstacles are simply redirecting you to where you're meant to be.
It's like on Google Maps when it like reroutes.
That's all it is.
I hope that you have really, really enjoyed this.
And I hope that you can cultivate these energies of the lucky girl.
And if you are interested in having my support in my coaching programs, you can send me the word podcast on Instagram at alignment with Jen.
And I will send you a five minute video about my programs and you can decide if that's right for you.
thank you so much for being here and I hope you have a wonderful day.
