Spotify Rap 2023 is now here, and in similar fashion, a lot of people are posting the top five artists or songs on social media platforms that they currently use.
So with that being said, specifically for the notorious Mass Effect podcast, I wanted to do a giveaway, but also recap my 23 rap on Spotify.
Because, of course, there's a lot of platforms where I listen to music on, but primarily I listen to the
the music on Spotify and podcast, of course.
So like I was saying with the giveaway,
this is not going to be a huge list of requirements
to be able to be eligible for this giveaway,
kind of how Brooklyn GM did Carrie Irvin.
We're not going to do all that, right?
You ain't got to go to the moon and back
to be eligible for this giveaway.
You simply have to,
and this is important because I want my listeners,
my true listeners,
who's listened throughout this whole year
to know how to be eligible for this giveaway.
way. So basically, on my social medias or my email, which are all of my link tree and also
analytic dreams at gmail.com, if you don't know my email. But my link tree has all my information
you need. And you just need to send me your, I think you can share it. So you can share your list of
podcast listened to and the amount of minutes. And whoever has the highest total minutes,
of listening to my podcast for the year of 2023,
will get a cash prize of,
I'm not going to say the number.
Say I'm not going to say the number because in general,
I want people to know that I really do support the people who support me.
So just know, it is a nice prize, cash prize,
for the person who has the most amount of minutes to listen to my podcast.
And I wanted to do this simply for the fact to let y'all know that I really
appreciate your support.
over 2023 and in the past of course so with this is very simple click my link to my bio
messes me on one of my social medias i would prefer direct message because it'll be easier that way
in case i need to you know exchange um ways to get the cash prize to you so email or dm me or
or whatever social media platform that you follow me on.
With that being said, I think I'm going to choose two people.
Only if the first person, right,
if somebody has like total minutes of that's way above and beyond the second highest person on the list,
then that cash prize will go totally to that person.
But for the most part, I'm going to be fair.
I'm going to look at all the minutes and it's not going to be nothing crazy.
Like if somebody has like 20,000 listen to me and the next highest person has like 6,000,
okay, then it might just go to that person.
But for fair assessment, I am going to take an account everybody's total minutes,
total minutes listen to my podcast.
And I'll probably do this for a week.
So I'm going to wait for a week for this segment to get out, people to listen to it,
know that I'm doing a giveaway because it's not no huge,
Brad Godotius type thing is basically me wanting to support and show you how much I really
appreciate y'all support. So hopefully I got that across. I'm pretty sure I did. It really wasn't
anything to that. It's just I'm doing the giveaway and I don't like the giveaways where it seems
scammish like, oh, you got to follow me on this platform. You ain't got to do all that.
Just show me your total minutes listen as far as podcasts go and especially for mine.
and we're going to see who has the highest total minutes listen for the notorious mass effect.
And that person will get a cash prize of an undisclosed amount because when I do it,
I don't want to, I want people to be fixated on a prize and feel like,
I don't know why.
I don't know why I want to say the cash prize.
It's just one of those things where it's not really, it's for the person who deserves it.
That's basically what I'm saying.
So it's not a cash prize like, oh, I'm trying to scam somebody and get a bunch of followers.
which is like literally whoever's my top supporter,
I really want to show you how much I appreciate you
and in doing so, this cash prize should be able to satisfy that.
So anyways, that's basically it for Spotify, 2023 rap.
For the most part, I want it again to my 223 rap on Spotify.
It's going to be pretty, I'm not going to say short,
but it's going to be pretty straightforward.
Of course, I had to mute it, you know, for copyright reasons,
don't want music playing over and it get taken down.
So first, I wanted to talk about some of the new Spotify Rap 2023 features, which if you
don't know, there's a lot of new features for Spotify rap.
And one of the biggest features that a lot of people wasn't really happy with is the
exclusion, them excluding November and December.
Because what that tells to me is in October, it started to get shut down, right?
as far as them tracking your streams,
which, you know, for most people,
wasn't a big problem,
but for me,
who listened to a lot of Drake in October,
he was like,
hey, I know I've been listening to Drake more than anybody else,
and none of his songs on my top five.
Spoiler alert, but, yeah, now you know.
So, anyways, some of the new features
for Spotify Vap, 2023, we have Soundtown,
which basically, this new feature matches users
with a city based on their listening history
and shared artist affinity.
And then also they have integrated AI DJ,
which is a collaborative playlist,
and the AI DJ is integrated into the year-end review.
So that's a new feature as well as something.
There was something else, I forgot.
Wasn't a lot of new features, but,
oh, listening parties.
So I have some of the pictures up.
This is just basically Spotify.
Oh, also, if you want to see the audio,
with a video version along with the audio,
definitely follow my analytic dreams video platform on Spotify
to get the video along with the audio.
With that being said,
basically I have just a snapshot of what the Spotify rap
23 looks like for most people.
But now, let me switch to some of these other pictures.
Yeah, this is the one I was talking about.
Okay.
So basically this right here, as you see on the screen,
this is for listening parties.
And for this, is that it?
Is that the listening party?
Yeah.
There you go.
It's this picture.
Okay, so listening parties is basically audio-only listening parties with selected artists.
And the person who is the, I forget, the curator of the playlist gets to pick what's the next song.
So it's kind of like the new feature that came out not too long ago where it's basically the jam session, but except with Spotify rap.
So it mixes it both.
And with that, they said your favorite artists would be included in the Spotify rap for
23.
And you can have a whole jam session slash collaborative jam session with this feature.
So with that out the way, I got into AI DJ personality.
What else?
The city was a new feature as far as Soundtown matching users with the city based on their
listening history and shared artist affinity.
Uh-oh, what else?
That's basically it.
And Spotify rap engagement has grown from 30 million users in 2017 to over 120 million in
2023.
If you don't know, I believe Spotify has like 500 and some total 500 some million total.
That's not right.
I had a stat somewhere.
but I lost it.
Well,
anyways,
let's just get into my
2023 wrapped on Spotify
because that's basically
what I wanted to segment to be
and there's nothing super long
is just one of those things
where I know people,
you know,
people have already texted me like,
hey,
would you get for top five artists
or songs?
And I just want to do a segment over
to one, you know,
tell you to give away at the beginning,
which that was important to me
because I really want to showcase
to my top listeners,
how much I really appreciate them.
But I also want to just
get into my personal listening sessions
and to give you a glimpse
of what I'm listening to on the everyday basis.
So with that being said, let's get into it.
So here we go.
2023 rap on Spotify.
Also, Annalic Dreams video on Spotify
to watch the video along with the audio.
So with that being said,
by the click play, get into the Spotify rap.
It's going to be a little different
without music, but it's okay.
2023.
And it's like music playing throughout all of this.
So basically, so it says I listen to 29 genres.
How many genres are there in music?
I feel like that's interesting to know,
because I don't know how many genres.
I know there's a lot.
So 29 is a nice spectrum, but I don't know how it shapes up against the rest, you know?
And of course, you see my top genres.
Let me see if I can make this bigger.
I don't think I can skip.
So I'm going to make sure to hover over the pause button.
So basically, right here we have like a hamburger style kind of showcasing my different genres that I've listened to and the amount.
So as you see right here, we have rap is number one, of course, and these are my top genres, mind you.
So rap is a significant portion of my sandwich image that they use.
Pop is second, of course.
Trap is third, which that's very interesting because I'm a law-abiding citizen, but I do love to listen to some little dirt.
and 21 Savage talk about how they spin the block, like they ain't know where to park.
And even though Jeffrey, aka Young Thug, is locked up what, yeah, technically locked up right now,
going through a whole trial in Atlanta that seems like it's never going to end because of his murder, murder,
kill, kill lyrics, I still enjoy the type of boost it gives me while I'm in a gym.
So that's the reason I really like to listen to trap.
So with that being said, my fourth most popular genre that I've listened to,
is pop rap.
I don't even know what that is.
Is that Drake?
What is pop rap?
Basically, rap is the most popular genre in the world right now,
but it's definitely not pop.
But anyways, and then for the fifth,
we have Nigerian pop.
And I think that's solely because of Burnaboy.
I've listened to Burnaboy.
I sometimes listen to Wiz Kid.
And then I also listen to,
there was another one.
I mean, Tim's, but she's not.
She's not rap.
I wonder if she's Nigerian pop.
I think that's probably what they're talking about.
So yeah,
those are the top three artists.
So I can see why they're in my top genres.
But as far as my top genres of my everyday listening sessions is definitely rap.
So that's why I took up a significant portion of this hamburger image that they went with.
So anyways, so let's go to the next one.
And then also, not only do you have to show me your listens for podcasts,
but you know I'm interested to see what my listeners engage in as far as music in their day-to-day life so feel free to share on whatever platform um whatever social media platform feel free to share your top five songs and artists and and because I don't know I feel like that gives me a nice glimpse on what my audience is listening to so with that being said let's keep going I think this is the new feature when they're talking about oh the
city that you would be best in as far as like what you listen to.
So they chose for me Bridgeport USA.
I don't know what that means.
They said they're likely to be fans of Drake, Future, and Little Dirk.
Now, excuse my ignorance, but I've never been the greatest student and geography.
So what is Bridgeport USA?
And if it's something that's popular, I sincerely apologize because I have no idea what that is.
I've heard it before, but I can't really think of like an iconic landmark from Bridgeport, USA.
And I know somebody listening right now is like, man, you don't know this or that or you don't know this iconic location in Bridgeport?
No, I don't.
I'm sorry.
I'm just, I guess I'm ignorant.
Hey, I guess that's another thing as far as being on the ignorant scale.
My levels arising because Bridgeport, USA, I don't even know what that is.
So anyways, let's keep going.
But anyways, they chose that for me based off what I listened to because of Drake, Future, and Little Dirk.
So it says I played 2,256 songs in 2023, but there was one that really connected.
Y'all like the narration of the Spotify rap.
So anyways, Gunna, this was interesting because I totally believe that this is my top song.
Now, I'm not mad that my top song is in the Drake song because, like I said, I love
the for all the dogs album
I think is one of Drake's best
albums that he's ever put out
but what I like to
what I would like to say is
I believe
the streams as far as them
counting them for the users
stopped somewhere in October
I know they definitely put out a statement
saying they didn't track November or December
but I think they stopped early
October because there's no way that Drake
song wasn't at the top but it's whatever
it's okay you know I understand
that Gunna, the biggest gangster in the world, you know, mind you.
You know what I mean?
Not joking.
But anyways, Gunna, of course, was an artist that I played way more than anybody else.
And it makes sense because I really like that album.
It's still in my top five.
Of course, I'm going to do the top five albums and rappers like I usually do last year and
a year before that.
But I did want to speak on my Spotify rap because I know a lot of people was asking.
So I'm like, hey, why not just make a segment?
out of it. So my top song, as you can see, was F you mean by Gunna. That is a PG podcast, so I can't
say the full title. But also it said, I played it 78 times this year, starting on June 16th, and it
still sounds perfect. That's what they said. That was what they put. Personally, a gunna really ran
2023 when it came to rap
because on a quality scale
it's
I forget what the
it's like a
I don't know if it's a it's like a scale
of um
forget what they call it a scale
but basically they show you a little
rectangle box and to the right
is where everybody who had the highest scores are on
and then the lowest scores are to the left of it
it's like a certain scale I don't I forget what it's called
but for me
I will say that I
played Gunna way more than most people because of the whole snitching allegations and people
actually caring about that because me as the law and Biden citizen, I'm listening to any snitch.
I'll listen to the 6-9, the Kodak record.
Like, I don't have street laws that I have to abide by in my everyday life.
So I'll probably listen to Gunna more than the average human or the average street person
or the average hip-hop listener.
You know, for some reason, them street politics getting into hip-hop.
I say for some reason, like I don't know exactly.
exactly who they're talking about.
Anyways, uh, let's keep going.
So F you mean by Gunna was my top stream song of 2023, which I definitely agree with.
So then we get into, they calling me a romantic.
I don't know why.
Um, maybe because of my top songs.
I don't know what's romantic about listening to F you mean by Gunner, but a teacher's own, I guess.
Um, my top so, my top songs that you see right here,
top five songs, we have.
Gunna, if you mean, K-pop with Travis Scott Bad Bunny in The Weekend.
At number two.
At number three, we have Bread and Butter by Gunna.
Number four, we have Mad Max by Little Dirk in Future.
And at number five, you would swear that this was fan-made because there are three Gunna songs in my top five.
And the roundoff, my top five is Bottom by Gunna.
So we have F you mean, Bread, Bread and Butter, and Bottom by Gunna in my top five songs of 2023.
That doesn't just show you.
Oh, that's what I was getting to.
That doesn't show you how the quality for hip hop in 2023 has been below average when compared to 2022, 2021, and definitely 2020.
Because if you don't know, I think that's when Scorpion and Donda dropped in 2020.
Was it a Scorpion?
I think it was Certified Love a Boy.
Certified Love a Boy and Donda dropped in 2020, I believe.
I don't know.
Maybe I got my timelines mixed up.
But basically, this year for hip hop has not been the greatest.
If I'm looking at the quality level, I'm thinking to myself, the idol playlist by the weekend, Metro Boomin's albums, and Drake is probably to stand out for me in terms of quality.
Now, in terms of replayability, obviously you see right here, I like to get a nice little boost in the gym sometimes for my music.
And F you mean, bread and butter, definitely Mad Max.
I mean, that line to this day is still a classic.
I think we're going to look back at this after the young thug trial ends and be like, wow,
Little Dirk was wilding in the verse.
I mean, he literally said, I call y'all, I called Thugger and told him every person I shot.
I was like, hold up now.
Ain't he incarcerated?
But anyways, hey, hey, teach his own, I guess, because this man is just like, hey, I should have been part of that RICO.
Carl Thugger told him everybody I shot.
He was like, I'm trying to join you in jail.
I was like, what type of backwards activity is this?
as far as society and human civilization, we shouldn't be looking towards Mad Max as far as the upper echelon of wisdom, right?
So when we're listening to Mad Max for me, personally, it's just for when I'm working out, boosting my energy when I'm running or when I'm lifting.
You know, Mad Max come on and I get to it, you know?
Hey, not in the illegal way, of course.
I ain't gonna lie.
For somebody who does do illegal activities,
I'm pretty sure Mad Max is on the top of the list, too.
So to reiterate, number one,
top song for me in 2023 is F you mean my Gunna,
according to my Spotify rap,
because my own personal list when I make it,
it's gonna be totally different.
Number two is K-pop by Travis Scott Bad Bunny in the Weekend.
Number three is Bread and Butter by Gunner.
Number four is Mad Max by Little Durk in Future.
And number five,
is bottom by Gunna.
I don't know how Gunna ended up with three tracks
in my top five, but hey, I guess so.
You know, it's kind of like one of those scenes
where you can't be mad at your Spotify rap
because that's the music that you are listening to.
So it's like, hey, you only can be upset at yourself,
but when they did put out the statement like,
oh, we're not counting November and December,
and then they basically said they've stopped counting
like mid-October.
I'm like, dang, but they just cut all my Drake streams out then.
So whatever.
I guess we have to blame Taylor Swift for making him push his album back, but that's a whole other discussion.
So anyways, let's keep going.
So those are my top five songs in 2023.
And it says, well, I stopped there.
Here's a playlist of all the songs.
I've probably looked at that.
It's basically like three albums.
That's all in it.
That's all in my, uh, so I listen to 51,000 minutes.
That's 35 days nonstop.
That's crazy.
Uh, you peaked on May 24th at 56, 5.
Not 56.
Hold up. I can't read that fast.
You know, I'm saying, hey, me and Floyd Mayweather, we could give each other run for our money.
No, let's see.
What was that stat at?
You peaked at May 24th at 561 minutes.
What happened, May 24th?
May 24th holiday.
Let me see if there's a holiday.
Maybe I was driving or something?
Oh, Memorial Day.
Okay.
Maybe I went home or something.
I listened to a lot of music.
when I'm on the road. So that's probably what it was. Three-day weekend. I was probably listening
more music than usual. So anyways, yeah, let's see. So that's the most I've ever,
well, not ever, but you know, that's the most in 2023 that I stream on Spotify. So that was
interesting. You listen to 611 artists this year, but one came out on top. Pause. Anyways,
any guesses? You already noticed it go, like, come on now. Like, it wasn't really a question.
Even though I'm complaining that they cut a lot of my Drake streams out, he's still my number one.
And they say I'm in the top 0.5%, which I feel like they said that to everybody.
Because I saw some list, because, you know, everybody posts their Spotify rat.
Somebody put out their list, and they had like 30,000 minutes listening to Drake.
I'm like, dang, I'm slacking.
Am I really a Drake fan?
And it was like 0.1%.
I was like, dang.
No, no, no.
It literally said like 0.001.
It was like something crazy.
I was like, dang, he must have had the most minutes.
listen to Drake. So to
harking back, is that the way you say it? I know how to old people be talking.
To harken back on what I previously said at the beginning of the segment,
this is who I want you to send me basically for podcasts. So the top person who has the most
minutes spent listening to my podcast, it's definitely, there's a cash prize for you.
And depending on place number one, the place number two, if it's not that big of a difference,
it'll go to two people. But if one's like, you know, something crazy and the next one's
not even close to that, it may just all go to one.
So it should let you know the amount of cash, you know, I'm giving out right now.
So it's not one of those things when I'm doing it for clout or anything like that.
I just really want to appreciate the people who listen to me and support me.
And because without y'all, honestly, this won't be possible.
And I know people say that, but they be like, oh, you're just being nice.
Like, no, I'm being so serious.
Like any artists, any company that you support, if everybody stops supporting that company,
they would go under.
I mean, just, let me chill.
I was going to throw some shots
you know what I mean but let me you know
what what grandma say
they ain't got nothing nice to say
don't say it at all
something like that
she probably said it better with you know
correct grammar and stuff but anyways you get what I'm saying
like you don't want to end up here like blockbuster
see I didn't said it oh
you don't want to end up like red box all my fault
I keep going
let's keep going yeah I get what I'm saying right
you got to appreciate the people
who support you year after year
so anyways
so as you can
see my top artist of 23
as unsurprisingly,
the goat,
a.k.a. Aubrey Graham, aka.
Drake. So let's keep going.
Sometimes I talk to my friends about Drake, and they'd be
like, man, you really, like, listen to Drake.
Like, you, like a real fan. I'm like,
hey, it ain't just for the pod.
And then you said,
you couldn't get enough of meltdown.
Maybe they're trying to say that's my, like, favorite song from
Drake, which I think
that was the first real verse
from Drake.
Because Drake did put out a dud.
I do remember that.
Hold on.
Let me see if I can find it.
Drake's only dud in 2023 was when he collaborated with this Nigerian artist, I believe.
I don't know.
Him and Jermaine, they just take turns giving out whack verses to Afrobeat artists.
I don't even know how to get into my account.
Isn't that great?
Let me see.
Oh, here we go.
It's like, dang, am I not in my account?
Um,
so there was a specific track that I think was his only miss for 2023.
And it was, oh, it was who told you?
So it was Jay, Jay Hus?
J. Hus?
I don't know.
I'd say that.
Basically, the verse that Drake gave on that track was like the track meets when they blow the gun and everybody starts running.
It was like the beat just took off.
And then Drake was just trying to catch up the whole time.
It was like, it was pretty bad.
It was like, dang, my goat fall off.
Like, it was one of those type verses.
It was like, dang.
This man may not have it no more.
So Jay Huss is, I don't know if he's an Afrobeat artist.
They say he is, I don't find it.
He's a UK rapper.
Okay, because, you know, Drake has a lot of UK inspiration every now and then to his music
as, you know, more popular was the more life.
I think that had the first, like, UK slang on it.
Or, like, UK.
Was it KMT?
I don't know if it was KMT.
Because he was really getting to the UK slang.
I mean, he literally had a UK freestyle over, like, some radio
where he was just rapping in a way that I've never heard him rap before or since then.
I'm like, he literally chose a flow for that one UK freestyle
and then never wrapped that way again.
I'm like, what in the world?
type of a simulation is this this man drake is really an actor i'm like he pulled that out out of nowhere
and never used it again so i don't know that man's he's different so anyways this keep going so that's my top
drake track i guess is a meltdown as far as uh spotify rap not drag be he he'd be having a lot of
characters he'd be going into all right now's again to my top artist here's how you spend time
with them across the year and then of course you see the go in number one there's nobody need
that say that peak listening month october see this is what i'm talking about right here you see how it says
october but they cut off a lot of the streams or as far as counting the streams and october
like they said it definitely wasn't doing november or december so that was already gone so
they announced they officially stopped in october like let me see if i could actually find that tweet
and the only reason i'm i'm really pinning or highlighting that point is to let y'all know that
that is why a lot of people are kind of upset over Spotify rap.
I've seen a lot more people who are giving critique over Spotify rap,
even though it's solely based off your preferences.
But it's because they didn't actually track.
I mean, not even.
You don't even have to track 12 by the 12 months, right?
At least track up until December.
Like now is we're getting like a little snapshot.
Like does the year end in October?
I don't think so.
Like, from what I've been told in the music industry,
fourth quarter comes around and everybody's putting their best workout
because most working citizens in society have the most expendable income
because they're getting gifts, some cash, some other type of gifts.
Basically, the holidays, for some reason, people want to spend more or spend more frivolously.
So there's a reason why Drake announced this tour with Jay Cole
in the fourth quarter is the reason why you got a lot of these artists coming out putting some of the
content up on uh i forget what this call it's called patreon or something like that basically people
are way more active as far as content creators and artists simply because fourth quarter means that
the working class citizen so that's how you say it has more expendable income and there's like a
whole research deep dive on some article but i'm not bringing that
up right now basically um i wanted to bring up when they stopped tracking um see
spotify i stopped tracking before the release i think when they say they stopped tracking a lot of
people are saying they stopped tracking like 20 days ago they said early november late i think
spotify has stopped tracking early november yeah
So that's why I'm basically.
I think it wasn't early November because they came out and said it wasn't November or December.
So I think they stopped tracking some point in October.
Anyways, basically I'm saying this.
The past Spotify raps, they actually tracked all the way up until the Spotify rap came up or came out.
Now it's just like, are y'all, like, what are y'all doing to make y'all feel like y'all have to stop tracking earlier?
Like a lot of people are noticing this because it's not one of those things where it's just if you don't listen to music obviously you probably won't be able to tell
But I've listened to Drake and only Drake since four other dogs came out and that's not one of those things with like oh I'm mad he's now on my top five
I'm basically just pointing out how it stopped tracking because I know I played that album way more than any other album I played this year
But they stopped tracking what I like at this point is speculation because I can't find actual tweet
but basically
I think they stopped tracking
like mid to late October
probably late middle October
and that's basically when Drake's album came out
so I mean you didn't even see it
for all the dogs track
when they talked about my favorite artist
it chose meltdown
so that's why a lot of people upset
over this Spotify rap
because of its early
stoppage of tracking
and if you don't listen to a lot of music
you probably won't notice that
but for me
who listens to me
music on everyday basis.
I notice it more
distinctly kind of. And of course
with my favorite artists, I'm like, come on now.
Like, you're not going to tell him. He's my
number one artist, but none of my favorite tracks
from him are from for all the dogs.
Kind of weird. So anyways,
Drake's my number one streamed artist of
2023. Of course, my peak listening
month in October.
Then we have number two.
We have the one and only, the biggest
gangster. He'll
pop gonna wanna and my peak my peak listening month for him was in june i think a lot of my peak
listening months for these artists are when they dropped the album because gonna drop a gift and a curse
june 16th so a lot of my artists that i've listened to like i listen to a lot of up-to-day music so
when i listen to a artist the most is usually when they drop an album so it makes sense while my peak
listening month where Gunner was in June.
Number three was Travis Scott, and that's very interesting because you already know how I feel
about Travis Scott in this Astro World situation.
That man still ain't gave us a real apology, but, you know, besides that, him killing
multiple people.
My peak listening month for him was in July, and I think that's when Utopia came out.
Maybe it wasn't.
Let me see.
Yeah, July 28th is when Utopia came out.
So like I said, I listen to current up-to-date music.
So that makes sense.
Then we have track number four, Metro Boomin, peak listening month, March.
I only have to look at that.
I know that's when the Spider-Verse movie came out or the across the Spider-Verse movie,
which he made the soundtrack for it, which is why I listened to that mostly.
Then we have Quavians.
Number five on my list.
This may surprise some people, but wait.
who I give my actual recap of the top five songs for me, albums, and rappers.
You may be interesting to see where Quavel ends up on that list, and I kind of support
that he is going to be on the list.
But I think Quayvall had a classic year and a classic run as far as honoring takeoff,
which is why I think the reception of the opposite album was what it was, because Quayvill's
album was just so masterfully crafted in a way that was also.
a tribute to take off but it had tracks like wall to wall where he was just like oh quabo can make
a song by himself which sounds crazy to say about a legendary artist such as quabo but he's been
part of the amigos forever so it's like and the last time he tried to put out a solo album i'm not gonna lie
it was not good at all this man put out an album with all the biggest superstars in the world
and it still didn't sound like it should have yeah quabo huncho when that came out october 12th 2018
had everybody on it.
I mean, 21 Savage, Drake, Travis Scott.
I mean, he messed around and put
Offset's number one arch enemy on his album and Little Baby.
Do y'all not know that Little Baby and his crew allegedly,
you know you got to say allegedly,
stripped offset down after a dice game.
Look it up.
Hey, there's a reason why Offset and Little Baby
will never do a track together.
But Cuevo, obviously, they didn't care about none of that.
He was like, hey, I got to get a song with him.
And that was back in 2018 when people was comparing little baby to Drake.
I mean, we've seen how that played out.
But, you know, that little baby was just, he was that dude back then.
So Cravo just said, forget Offs his feelings and had little baby on this album.
So he had everybody and the mama on Quavo Hunter.
And I just don't think the quality was there.
I think he tried to pull a DJ Callet and didn't end up working out.
So Rocket Power is more of a cohesive body of work.
one being a tribute to take off and also being such a stamp on if quabo can make music by himself
and it sound good because if you don't know most of quavo's tracks are attached to something else
like congratulations is a post-blown track um bad and bougie is a migo's track featuring little
uzi vert uh what's some of his other biggest tracks i mean if you want to go back into the like rich
Exhibitive timeline because this is a PG podcast.
It's mostly Migos albums and work.
Like, Cuevo's never really had a solo track that was just like, dang, this is the one.
And this year, I feel like he finally did that.
So I think this was a classic, definitely a year to, I'm not going to say remember because, of course, you know,
he's still trying to get over takeoff, takeoffs passing.
But for me, I've really enjoyed Cuevo's album to the point where I was listening to it
nonstop.
And as you can see right here, he's, this is the first time I think Cueblo's ever.
made my top five artist list.
So he's definitely been putting out
solo music. He's been trying. Boy, has he been
trying. So it's the first time
it finally resonated with me with
the peak listing month coming in
August. So that's
my top five artists listen to
according to Spotify, Rapped in 20203.
And then they give you like a rendition
overview of all the different artists.
Number one, Drake, of course.
Number two, Gunna, number three,
Travis Scott. Number four.
Metro Booman, and then number five, Quavius.
So then, I don't know what he gets into next.
I don't know my Spotify rap by heart.
I've only looked at this like twice.
Somebody said, I'm a great listener.
You spent 16,000 minutes podcast this year.
And also, and this is no discredit to Spotify rap.
But, you know, just to fact check it,
it's definitely been way more
because I don't know if y'all know
but most podcasts are nowadays
are either putting a video
exclusively on YouTube
or they're going to Patreon
Spotify does have a feature
where you can put video on it
but for some reason
the biggest podcasts in the world
are not using that feature
I think there's a reason
but for me I'm gonna keep doing it
as you can see right now
Annalated Dreams video
I use video on Spotify
but a lot of the top podcasts
don't the only one who does
is like the exclusive ones
like Joe Rogan
Like, I think he's exclusive to Spotify.
So, yeah, there's a reason why the videos only, well, there's a reason why he's using
a video feature for Spotify is because he's exclusively signed to him.
But like for Joe Budden, for flagrant, like, all of their videos are like on YouTube or Patreon.
And going off of that, Patreon can literally come out with the rap version of their own
because I've been listening to Joe Budden's podcast so much on Patreon.
I think I would be like in a 1% of that.
you know uh statistic but of course here as far as listening to podcasts on spotify i don't do it
as often as i do patreon because joe button be putting out two to three hour long podcast like two
to three times a week i'm like dang that's a different type of work ethic like honestly
if i had a bunch of friends just to talk about random stuff in the industry it could probably
be that long as well but it's just me like i don't got the energy to be spending two to three hours
a week recording like that's i i do record a lot now yeah i do know i'll be dropping frequently but
the length pause is a little different from a segment to an episode because episodes can only
happen so often now because i'm covering so much as far as in music or gaming so um i don't even know
why i gave that caveat but hey now you know so anyways let's keep going i think it's going to show
me my top podcast now all you here it is all right so my top podcast we have
Number one, of course, Joe Button podcast, I just went on a rant about how I listened to it, how I watched it and things of that nature.
Like I am a Patreon subscriber.
Like I'm one of the homies, I think, which is like $5 a month.
But if you think about it, y'all may think I'm crazy for paying $5 a month for a podcast.
But think about this.
The amount of time, I don't watch like TV or movies, right?
What I basically do is I look at a podcast.
and that is my entertainment for the day.
So you can see where the Joe Button podcast comes into that equation.
Because this man puts out two to three hour long episodes frequently, three to four times a week.
So you think about that.
You're paying $5 for two to three hour podcasts every week.
And not even two to three hours.
Like it's one could be four hours.
Another one could be three hours and almost four hours.
It's rarely just two hours.
That's like, like three-hour pods is like the sweet spot for the Joe Budden podcast.
So paying $5 a month for that much content is logical to me because that's the people pay triple that for Disney or Netflix.
And for me, I gain more as far as societal views and how people view certain cultures and how cultures view us through podcasts.
and Joe Budden does a great job on covering a wide range of topics.
So that is why, to cut it short, that is why this is my top podcast of 2023.
Then at number two, of course, we have Mr. Academics himself and off the record with his Spotify.
I think it was exclusive at first.
Now it's not because the deal ended.
but his exclusive deal with Spotify with his podcast title off the record.
Of course, you can see it right there.
But for those who can't see.
I will say, academics has to step his podcast and game up
because the way that he formats off the record is very weird.
He started off in a late show type of setting where he was up at this huge.
huge, grandiose type of position.
And then his guest, there was like a guest,
it was like a bench for his guest, right?
Now it's just some room with him and another person.
So I'm not saying that the quality is bad,
but I find myself thinking that academics was forced to have,
guest-based podcast.
And I don't think that's where academics is the greatest at.
Like, I don't think he's the greatest interviewer of artists.
He doesn't really bring out what I'm searching.
Like, the best interview I think he did this year, because I've watched a lot of them,
was the Little Dirk interview, because of course, that's his realm.
Like, if it's his realm, it makes sense.
But for him personally, he could literally do what Joe Budden does.
just getting people who knew him in this past life.
But I think he has a lot of people, which is no shame with it.
But he has a lot of people on the podcast from when he was already academics.
If he has his friends from when they knew him as Livingston
and just deal what Joe Budden does, like get some grandiose type setting,
you know, of course he can afford it.
I mean, it's academics.
So that's what I'm saying, like, his podcasting game could use some,
upgrading if that makes sense. Obviously, I'm looking at academics' income and thinking that he can
spend more on a better set. That's basically all I'm saying. I'm not saying like his set is bad.
I'm not saying that he's one of those where I expected more. But as far as consistency and the type of
podcast that he does, I think he needs to change that and talking more personally about himself or just
about the music industry because nobody wants to hear some of these D-list, F-list artists that he's
talking to on his podcast.
I think that's where the biggest downfall came.
And frankly, I think that's why I'm not going to say he lost this deal with Spotify,
but I think that's the reason why it only lasted for like, what, a year or two?
So because if you don't know, off the record now, it's on every platform, not just Spotify.
So he even talked about it on stream.
He was like, yeah, the deal ended, you know, decided to go a different direction and stuff
like that. So those are just some of my constructive criticism. You know, I may be tweaking or I may be on
point. You never know. But one thing you can't say is I don't be watching academics because I literally
name myself analytic off of academics. But, you know, I always have to get my critique when it's due,
I feel like. So number three, of course, the brilliant idiots. I'm not giving a huge rundown
and review of everybody I listen to. But the reason I listen to brilliant idiots is simply for the fact
that Andrew Schultz has become one of the better orators, orators, I think does they say,
orators and the content space.
When Andrew Schultz talked about anything in the industry, you listen because he has so much
connections, so many connections as far as the higher-ups of Joe Rogan, or he was on set
for the Eddie Murphy movie.
I was called, but everybody hated that movie, but I liked it.
I thought it was good.
where um i think it was set rogan i'm probably getting a mixed up which is messed up but um
Lauren London was in it and Eddie Murphy was in it hopefully that clears it up for y'all the
movie i'm talking about and Andrew shows was actually in that movie so not only is he doing movies
he's talking to the top podcasts in the world um he has a successful podcast with flagrant
which is not in my top five because i like charlemagne's input because i still want a hip-hop head
you know, giving me information.
But as far as Andrew Shultz, he brings such a nice twist to the original dynamic of two
hip-hop heads talking.
It's like a comedian and a hip-hop head.
And I don't know why.
But when they cover the industry, it's the best entertainment.
And that's probably why it's in my top three.
So I really enjoy listening to The Brilliant Idiots with Andrew Shultz and Charlemagne.
So anyways, number four.
Number four, as far as my top podcast goes to, well, according to,
Spotify rap, gaming Illuminati.
This is exactly why I do hip hop and gaming, because I found that I really enjoy not only
gaming as far as the entertainment aspect, but I also enjoy the industry side of gaming.
And for my source of information, one of them primarily is a gaming Illuminati.
Because if you don't know, the Black Okaga is also one of my biggest inspiration.
for even starting content creation.
And I followed him to the point where I followed him into a gaming Illuminati.
I followed him into, well, not him, but basically I followed Gaming Aluminati to some of the
other members of GI, which is what they called themselves.
Like, I mean, Gaming Illuminati, but, you know, acronym.
So, from, like, Nomad, Chaos, from Ace, A-9, who's actually a rapper.
Like, I think I've covered him before.
But anyways, Gaming Aluminati.
is my source, one of my primary sources for gaming info, and that's how I know so much about
different things in the industry. I mean, along with a plethora of other things like articles
and just CEOs speaking out, things of that nature. But as far as an entertainment platform,
getting my news from the gaming side, like obviously the top three, Joe Button, off the record,
the brilliant idiots, you see why I get my hip-hop entertainment from when it comes
podcast and but for gaming because I am a gamer.
I listen to the gaming
Illuminati obviously. So that
is why during my top five
and
I don't know if I have any critiques for now.
I'm not giving like constructive criticism
to everyone. The off the record one
which is something I thought of because I feel like
academics, I don't know if he's doing too much
but it just feels like off the record
could be better and it's not, it shouldn't
be a guest based podcast, but
whatever.
What else was saying? Oh yeah.
So number four, gaming Illuminati, of course, one of the biggest things I like, well, I already said that.
So I'm not going to be redundant.
Number five for my top five podcast or top podcast is a podcast I'm not really familiar with, honestly.
It says, is that my number five, but it's one of those things where it's just like, I don't even know what this came from.
Like, that's what I'm saying with the whole Spotify wrapped and it tracking streams.
Like, I honestly feel like number five is just completely.
incorrect for me. Like, I've never even heard of this. I've never even seen this or any type of,
you know, social medias or whatever. Like, it really surprised me that this even popped up on my
list. Like, I'm surprised first take wasn't here or undisputed. You know what I mean? It's like one of those
things where it's like, what is this podcast even about? Like, obviously you look at the name
and you don't even know what's this bell, you know what I mean? It's not like it tells you in the
name what is solely talking about, you know what I mean? Or what's the categories that they're going
to cover. So I don't even know why this podcast is on my list. Honestly, it's probably trash. And the
person who runs it, he's probably trash too. Or she. I don't even know. So anyways, let's keep going.
So for my next list, um, oh, it showed me how many minutes. I listen to the Joe Budding. So I listen
to the Joe Putting podcast on Spotify. You got to keep that mind because Patreon is probably way more,
but and YouTube. But for Spotify, I listen to the Joe Budding podcast, 4,732 minutes. And it says I'm a
top 28% fan.
So that's nice.
I don't have nothing to say about that.
I've already said all I could say about the Joe Button podcast.
Such peak content when it comes to podcasting.
Let me see.
One moment we're turning off the lights.
All right, they turned off the lights.
I don't know what that was for.
The way you listen to this year makes you a hero.
or maybe we can say
is that a Taylor Swift?
Good in the world
They said my favorite genre
hip hop but they're still giving me Taylor Swift bars
Like how's the average hip hop fan
gonna be like what does they mean
Or no how's the average hip hop fan
Going to be like oh that's Taylor Swift
I know what that's I know what that's referencing to
I don't know
Some Swifties out there's probably like
It's because she's the biggest in the world
Which I understand but hey
I ain't trying to in my hip hop
Recap I don't want to see no Taylor
Swift Easter egg.
So yeah, let's keep going
with the Spotify wrap.
They turned off the lights.
I don't even know what that was for.
But anyways, they're back again.
Well, hold up.
It said tap the reveal.
Am I tripping?
I think I messed it up.
Because then it said tap to reveal,
did I not tap it?
Anyways, let me try again.
So anyways,
they're making a Taylor Swift Easter egg pun again
that, you know, as a hip-hop person,
it's like, all right, cool.
See, look, it says tap to reveal.
view. So I'm going to tap it. Oh, there we go. So it called me a hypnotist, hypnotist.
I think that's how you said. Um, basically Spotify rap has quantified my streams into basically
saying that I have a lot of concentration and there, they are saying, quote, concentration, your
concentration is absolute friend i don't know y'all like that now just plainly keep going you like to play
albums all the way through from the opening track to the final note okay that's cool is that like
the zodiac sign for for music we're in the world somebody fan look at this like i knew we was a match
he's also a hypnotist hypnotist in anyways i don't know i say all right let's keep going
So they gave me some type of astrology cards specifically for music.
They said that was fun, same time next year.
So that's what I'm saying.
Like as far as the Spotify rap, and you can see like my overview right here.
As far as my Spotify rap, like it wasn't, I feel like they really could have kept the tracking all the way up until December.
I don't know why they cut it short.
I think for next year, if they want people, if they want less people to complain, because I saw a lot of people complaining.
Like, it's not one of those things where it's like, oh, okay, Spotify rap, like, it's basically based off what you listen to.
But if they stop the tracking early, it makes sense that more people will come out being like, hey, this ain't it.
Like, this ain't even a perfect rendition of, or a perfect picture or capture of what I listened to this year.
So they sure just said, hey, for the first nine to ten months, this is what you listen to.
Because obviously, this ain't the whole year.
you know and a lot of people are saying oh my my uh spotify stop tracking before i listen to my
favorite artist album which i feel you i mean there's probably talking about drake so that's
probably why a lot of people are upset because if you think about drake is one of the biggest
artists in the world so a lot of other people probably ran into that problem as well because think
about it isn't it weird how my favorite i'm out of the year none of the songs are on my top five
and i've been listened to that religiously like i don't think i listen to for all the dogs for like
two to three weeks straight.
Like, I didn't listen to no other music.
Only time I listen to other music is when I was going to review it.
That was it.
So, yeah, I don't know.
That was a little off.
Hey, shout out to Gunner, man.
Somehow he ran 2023 being blackballed by producers and hip-hop artists.
So, hey, I guess niches are really winning out here.
And for a young thug, I guess, you know, free sexy red or the male version of sexy red.
I don't know, whatever.
They say they look alike.
So that's basically it for my Spotify rap 2023.
Of course, I want to reiterate what I said at the beginning of the segment,
basically saying that I'm doing a giveaway for my podcast.
Basically, you know how it says the share button right here?
Hit this share button either email me or take a screen, a capture, a screenshot,
and DM me on one of my social medias.
And whoever has the most, wait, not right here.
Obviously not right here.
How do I go back?
Oh, here we go.
All right.
So like this, right?
So basically, why am I zooming in is going farther away?
Who in the world?
All right?
All right, whatever.
Yeah, I see what I'm saying, right?
Send me this, and this will only happen if my podcast is at the top, I guess.
So that's another way to, you know, be able to deter who's the real, who's the number one or number two person.
So send me this and whoever has the highest amount of minutes to listen to my podcast.
You're going to get a cash prize, of course.
So I'm doing a giveaway, obviously to go back what I said in the beginning.
It's not one of those things where I'm going to post on social media is to be like, hey, got to follow me.
You know, I ain't going to give you a whole list of requirements, like I said, with the Brooklyn GM and Carrie situation.
Like you ain't got to do all this to be eligible, right?
You just got to show me this right here.
either screenshot it and send it to my email or a screenshot it, send it to one of my social media
platforms and DM me. Don't like put it because I want to be able to save it. And if you do win,
I want to like exchange information to how to get it to you. So yeah, I think that's a great way
personally, if I, you know, if I may pat myself on the back, I think that's a great way to
show y'all how much i said i appreciate my supporters and giving back to the people who give so much
time to me if that makes sense so so yeah that that's basically it i don't really have nothing else to
get into so yeah click my link true in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think
about my spotify rap 2023 hold up before we get into that let me just show my overview again
because i was just showing that for the giveaway but here we go all right
see i can look at that and you know judge me or whatever so anyways click my link to you in my
bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think about spotify rap you think it's trash
do you think it's fire is similar to yours definitely sin in my social media is like what y'all
listening to because i am interested to see what my what my listeners are listening to music wise
on the everyday basis and also let me know who is your top artist and top song for 2023
Spotify wrap
