The Tim Burton-designed cover art sets the tone for themes of braggadocio, restlessness, artistic independence, and multi-genre experimentation.Critics give it a Metacritic score of 71/100 for generally favorable reviews, praising sharp lyricism, charisma, inventive energy, and renewed confidence, though some note uneven sequencing and lack of cohesion. Rolling Stone called it "overstuffed but a lot of fun," while others highlight its curatorial vision.Commercially, Don't Be Dumb exploded with 35.43 million global Spotify streams on day one—Rocky's biggest album debut ever on the platform and the largest of 2026 so far. Vinyl pre-sales topped 130,000 units, fueling strong physical demand. First-week projections initially eyed 200K+ units and a No. 1 Billboard 200 debut, though updated estimates suggest around 119K units amid massive streaming and sales splits. It positions as potentially his biggest opening, surpassing prior #1s from Long.Live.A$AP and At.Long.Last.A$AP.The rollout includes standout visuals like "Punk Rocky" starring Winona Ryder and "Helicopter," plus a high-energy SNL performance on January 18 with Danny Elfman on drums. The upcoming Don’t Be Dumb World Tour, with UK/Ireland dates in August/September 2026, promises to extend momentum.Join Analytic Dreamz for unfiltered breakdowns of the tracks, cultural impact, and why Don't Be Dumb solidifies A$AP Rocky's status as a dominant force in 2026 hip-hop.Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

You know, of course, over here at notorious mass effect, we dive into the games and music IPs that notoriously affect the masses.
And safe to say, ladies and gentlemen, I may have to apologize to A. Sabraki.
You guys.
See, that's the problem.
As not only did I not look at his marketing strategy leading up to this album, because I was thinking to myself, I was like, hold up now.
When I first saw this album cover right here, well, I thought it was an album cover, whatever this is,
cover for his music video um analytic dreams video on spotify to see the video along with the audio i thought
this was just a one-off you know i thought he was just basically paying homage to actual uh hopefully
it wasn't too loud but i just thought he was paying homage actually let me mute that right quick
all right there we go so i thought he was paying homage once again to the playstation uh fandom out
there and i always held juice world in high regard because of the death race for love album
But safe to say, this was the album right here.
So as far as all these different gaming covers,
I was like, where in the world is he going with this?
And basically, you may be saying the same as far as my overall point.
Well, I'm glad that you're inquiring about the conclusion of my thought process.
Because guess what?
You guys.
All of this gaming promotion for random music videos
that don't be dumb tour that's set to come out of, well, the pre-sells up now,
But basically, to bring this full circle,
A'sa Raki is set to have his biggest,
and I mean his biggest debut ever,
as far as first week sales.
Now, I know that a lot of people are saying,
well, we're almost coming up on a decade since testing
that came out May 25th, 2018.
And technically, you would be incorrect
because we've got like eight years technically going on nine.
Anyway, you know we're almost that decade.
But as far as Cardi B,
She also had this type of hiatus, but guess what?
When she dropped invasion of privacy, it was a world-renowned classic, and of course,
objectively speaking, it was one of the biggest hip-hop albums, if not the biggest, of that year.
The reason why I'm talking all this, saying all this, as far as his marketing strategy,
is because Don't Be Dumb is following up an album testing that came out 2018, May 25th to be exact,
and it sold 75,000 first week.
Now, that may not seem like a big deal,
but it's the huges of deals because when asaph first came out i'm not going to say first but as far as ds
when he first came out long live long live love asap so 15,000 first week long live
live asap sold 139,000 first week at long last asep i mean these title names whatever
that was his best performing album so far 146 000 first week then of course you had testing
which, interestingly enough, back in 2018,
I could not put my finger on why it only sold $75,000,
especially when it was essentially the steroid error for hip hop.
And you have to stick with me on this,
because as far as what he's being accused of now,
it was running rampant back in that time period
where testing did $75,000 first week.
as if you don't know
Billboard literally in 2020
put certain rules in place
to adjust the first week sales
because of people out here
selling shirts and T-shirts
like the great Onika Mirage
the great Onika Tanya Marage
said herself
But then you know what I'm saying?
I was like, damn, look at the state of hip-hop
Like what's going on?
So as far as people out here selling shirts,
t-shirts,
hoodies,
safe to say,
A-SAP was like, you know what, this time, I'm not coming back for half.
I'm coming for everything.
And, you know, sort of like the track off of his album title player,
Luminant and Bill Boy was like, hey, player, how about you come over here?
Now, if you lost, let me break this down like a kilo, Amali Cyrus.
But then, you know what I'm saying?
I was like, Tim.
As Aesab Rocky is set to have a phenomenal first week outing, right?
But for some reason, a lot of reports came out, which was false, by the way.
but they was reporting that he was set to sell around like 200, 230 first week.
I was thinking to myself, that don't even make sense.
Just last year, the biggest releases, as far as hip hop, was in the two 90s.
Literally, that was the highest.
Playbick Cardi's music album sold the highest with 298,000.
I know y'all saying Kendrick, but guess what?
That came out late 2024, not 2025.
So when you look at, and then that album, specifically,
did 319,000 first week so when you're looking at the top outings in hip-hop we're not even
getting closer for let alone 500 like we're around 200 max and that's our super stars of the super
stardom so i was thinking to myself there's no raid that asaps doing 200 to 330 so then i looked a little
deeper and apparently there was a lot of vinyl being attached to the album sales and because of that
and it was an egregious amount
it was like over 100,000 it was crazy
um lumine it stepped in
and basically said these do not count
but like I said earlier
as far as billboard
tightening these rules in 2020
if he would have did the same thing for testing
in 2018 he could have
had the same if not more
than 250
290 if he did it back then
but because he took a huge hiatus
I don't know if he forgot I don't know if he wasn't
paying attention but the hip-hop field is not going for that bot energy malarkey anymore but then you
know what I'm saying I was like damn look at the state of hip-hop like what's going on as of course we have
to get into the great Sean Carter and I need to drop from Jay-Z I just haven't thought what I haven't
thought of like what would be the perfect Jay-Z drop for this podcast anyways I do need a Jay-Z drop
so anyways um when you look at billboards specifically and in them tightening the overall reins
I was trying to find where they had it.
Oh, here we go.
Okay, so the rules titan post-2020
because billboard had enough.
They said, hold up now.
I know 6-9 ain't out here
selling like D Taylor Swift
and also exposing us at the same time.
Really, 6-9, hey.
Woo-D-D-D.
6-9 ruined everything for everybody.
Woo-D-D-D.
6-9 was like, I'm fin of buy number one
and guess what?
He dropped the track with Oniqa Tanya Mirage.
But then, you know what?
And guess what?
It went number one, ladies and gentlemen.
You guys.
See, that's the problem
The billboard said enough was enough
And essentially tighten the rules post 2020
So when you look at other artists
Who also indulged in the same activity
As far as as of
Well, not recent, but you know
In the history of the most egregious attempts
Travis Scott with AstroWorld
Was out here selling socks, hoodies, t-shirts
But like I said, back in that day
Which if you remember, I think Astro World came out of 2018
That's not besides the point
But basically
Travis Scott got away
with it with Asher World, which is why Nikki was so mad.
2019, DJ Calais, yes, the late great, well, not late great,
the great, the legendary DJ Calid basically with his album,
the main thing for DJ Calut is that when he put out for Father of Aside in 2019,
and I don't know why he ain't have Drake Bill on it.
Like I feel like he would have skated on it.
Anyways, getting back to the point.
So DJ Calit basically had abundant.
with the album for awake energy shots via shop.com and guess what they was trying to sell it off
as an actual album unit and bellboard stepped in once again it was like you must think we playing
around here guess what we're taking all themselves buddy and he lost over a hundred thousand
i kid you not so because of that it disqualified over 100,000 sales and he threw a mammoth
of a fit and tyler the career they had the best of time clowning him because he was
was talking about oh i'm about to go number one we the best we the best limit pepper wings on me we
the best you know what i'm saying tyler the creator was number two behind him but then after the
deflation that billboard had to do because of disqualifying a lot of different bundles with the
energy dream tyler the creator ended up becoming number one and then uh dj callis album came
in number two behind tyler's album and he was very irate throwing grown man hissy-fist and
everything and Tyler the creator was celebrating.
So anyways, going back more into the past.
Now, I don't like to do this, but Sean Carter also got away with this.
Just like Travis Scott got away with it, you have to do it in a certain way to actually
be able to get away with it.
I don't know if it's the bike Rubin White Party or what it, you know, I don't know what
you have to do to get away with these certain things.
DJ Callow wasn't able to do it.
But Jack Quees Webster, aka Travis Scott and Sean Carter, aka JZ, was able to get away
with this trick.
2013 if y'all remember back then which you was probably a wee little lad or not even on this earth but samsung had a pre-purchased one million copies of magna carter holy grail yes ladies and gentlemen one million copies anyways um and it gave away those copies via a free um it gave away those free copies via app to galaxy users with uh 72 hour early access
but at the end of day he did get away with it and when you look at the actual first week sales
safe to say a lot of people was calling that out but how can you say bad things about jZ
without just getting straight up scrutinized just straight up lobotomized is that's the word
by the black community because they're not playing that i know that ain't who i think it is anyway
Sean Carter also got away with it but the biggest culprit was when Travis guy did it with
Asteroor. And then of course, when 6'9 came out, just basically exposed to the industry and doing the same thing that he said other people's profiting off of, they nipped that in the butt.
So bringing this back to ASEB Rocky. So he tried that overall attachment to a vinyl. But the thing about the vinyl is, you know, technically a vinyl's music, right?
But it was tied to a rent-free promo. I don't know what in the world was going on with his fan base. But they partnered with built rewards for exclusively.
limited edition vinals tied to their app rent-free promo for a chance to win free rent signed items
community donations etc etc initial projections um boosted the overall sales by 100 to 130 000 so then
guess what luminant billboard stepped in once again and it was like hey hey player
player boy you know me play a player we're going to need a couple of them thousands and i mean 100000
of themselves because we're not counting that for your first week sales so over a hundred
thousand was lost due to quote unquote um his his site and his partnership with built
rewards now this is not new and i don't fault rappers playing the game how the game needs to be
played you know you say don't hate the player hate the game i think as long as you have a certain
organic fan base, I think these games have to be played to reach the highest of heights.
If you don't believe that a lot of these people who notoriously affect the masses don't
have people behind the scenes helping them, especially once you get into the league of content
creation, then you'll just misguided.
You guys.
See, that's the problem.
So anyways, they took away those units, but to be fair, ASEF Rocky is still slated to have
a phenomenal outing as is expected to sell 119,000 first week. So just think about how phenomenal
those numbers would have looked if they would have counted the finals. It would have been in the
2019 to 240 range, right? So anyways, it would be his fourth top 10 album of his career.
I think it will debut at number one or may debut. I think it was slated when it was included
the finals to go number one. But I know nowadays, I think it's going to be.
going to be, I think it's going to debut at number two, 119,000 first week. But, you know, shout
to A. Sab Rocky. I think there's a lot of things you can get into, especially with him just being
a hip-hop icon from the fashion sense, him musically being so absent, but coming back with a six-figure
first week release, I mean, I have to do it. You know what I'm saying?
Shepard. No, I have to do it, but even Abraham himself, even Abraham Shia ben Joseph himself,
more commonly referred to as 21 Savage.
Basically, he couldn't even do a six-figure first week sales.
So I think this is a huge W for ASA Raki.
So now that I broke down the lead-up into how he got these sales,
like a kilo or Miley Cyrus,
let's talk about the most successful tracks off of the album right now.
