Triggered by BO7's mixed reviews (Metacritic 67, Steam "Mixed" 40-43% positive), Europe sales down 63% vs Battlefield 6 (7M+ copies in 3 days, Oct 2025) and 50%+ vs BO6, franchise fatigue from "slop" complaints, AI art backlash. BO7 gets unprecedented Season 1 support, free Multiplayer/Zombies trial next week + Double XP. Amid $35B+ franchise revenue since 2005, competition from Battlefield 6 (best-selling 2025 shooter) and Arc Raiders (4M+ sales), Activision vows to overdeliver, restore trust with polished content, flexible rotations (e.g., 2026 non-BO). It is time to get into one of the most notorious rivalries in gaming history.
Shepard, just look at the state of gaming.
Like, what is going on?
As when you look at the announcement of Call of Duty,
finally coming to its senses,
basically with Activision confirming that there would be no more back-to-back
modern warfare or blackoff releases.
But then you'd probably think it to yourself.
how do they come to this conclusion well ladies and gentlemen when i say time and time again that voting for your
wallet voting with your wallet is one of the best things you can do as a community safe to say
safe to save the nintendo audience as far as the drop the price movement could have easily had
this happen as far as nintendo lowering the price of mario car world because really the console
wasn't that overpriced but lowering the cost of mario car world due to the
due to them banning together and having consumer-friendly practices as far as not buying overpriced
mid-games.
And yes, I have to say that about the one and only Mario.
As Mario Kart World, we already know, was very underwhelming compared to the previous
cart installments.
So anyways, the reason why I say that and how I continuously say that the Nintendo dropped
the price movement is one of the worst movements of all time is because this could have happened
for Nintendo connoisseurs out there.
I just want to let y'all know.
Now when it comes to voting with your wallet,
it's a real thing,
as a lot of people were fed up with Activision's business practices,
and especially when you look at the landscape
of how people voted with their wallet,
you come to realize how Activision came to this conclusion.
As Call of Duty, ladies and gentlemen,
Blackop 7 specifically,
had a phenomenal year in 2025.
But guess what?
It wasn't a number of,
to call the duty standards you guys see that's the problem because as of right now call
duty black ops six is the sixth most play game in the year of 2025 but where is black up seven so safe
to say when you look at the high player counts of black op seven as far as it being the fourth most
play game on xbox currently it being the third most play game on xbox on on playstation currently
and then you look at battlefield as far as being the 10th most play
most play game on PlayStation currently and nowhere to be found in the top 10 on Xbox you know
that that's understandable but then you look at battlefield being the 15th most play game on steam
currently and uh black ops seven being nowhere to be found safe to say that black ops is still
highly successful it's just not up to snuff as far as the black ops it's black ops six counterpart
which which literally came last year so when it comes to that um
Black Ops 7 underperform exponentially, right?
Despite what we just talked about as far as the high player counts on console.
As when you look at it in totality, the Black Ops 7 game launched 63% below Black Ops,
below Battlefield 6.
So when you look at Black Ops 6 in general, it was 50% below.
so to reiterate black op seven was 63% below battlefield 6 and 50% below black op 6 now when you look at the actual
numbers as far as black ops specifically you come to realize that it is one of the better selling
games at the year but it's not in the top 10 because guess what that would be black op 6 ladies
and gentlemen and not only is black up 6 one of the better selling games of the year
But when you look at Battlefield in totality,
safe to say Battlefield 6 came out on number one
as far as estimated reports of the top selling games
in the year of 2025.
So now you look at the list, which, you know,
it does have Battlefield 6, Pokemon Legends, Z-8,
and then you have NBA 2K26, Monster Hunters.
That's the top 3 to 4,
and then you have Ghosts of Yote in the top 5.
But ultimately, when you look at the actual sales
of Black Op 6 it did tremendously as what they'd be in the best selling game of 2025 and then of course
you're looking at its record-breaking October month where it was the highest in three years even topping
call a duties modern warfare 2's 2022 peak and of course with that being said it basically surpassed
black ops 7 in every first month first month metric and hit 10 million copies overall
Well, not overall, but as far as in the month.
So now, the fatigue is a real thing when it comes to Activision's side,
as you would think after putting out Blackop Six that was doing phenomenal,
literally the bestselling game of 2024.
And then one year later, everybody in their mama seemingly has switched up on Activision.
So the point where they're playing Blackop Six even more than Blackop Seven as far as in totality.
So now with Battlefield 6 being number one, Activision,
looked at themselves and they basically had an honest reflection on their actions and said to themselves,
You guys.
We're sorry.
They basically said, you guys.
We are immensely sorry.
As when they came out and confirmed that there would be no back-to-back modern warfare or black ops releases,
they basically said that their ultimate goal is to, quote, absolutely deliver unique,
my fault quote deliver an absolutely unique experience each and every year and then of course they
literally came out and said this which is crazy because of course if you have investors and things that
nature in your company and you come out and say these type of things that can always be used against
you because now you technically said what investors never want to hear as when they come out
and talk about how black op six and black up seven were
too similar investors are thinking to themselves well where all uh where is all my money going and
basically Activision is saying we have no idea because even though black up six and black up seven
is so similar that nobody could tell the difference they basically say that overall people still
have mixed reviews and say as a disappointing launch to the point where tray arc senior director
production Yale Yale Miller came out and expressed concern that black out six and seven were also
similar so that was the nail in the coffin I mean you have the director coming out
saying they're too similar safe to say it's time to switch some things up as he
also gave a direct quote saying we will drive innovation that is meaningful
not incremental but then you know what I'm saying like team they're basically
saying all the right things but one of the main things we have to do as
consumers is continue to put that pressure on them because of course competition
is phenomenal because
you get these type of statements right but now when you look at the competition in the in the grand
scheme of things we still have to keep them accountable as far as that next call of duty
installment being a higher level of quality instead of just a re-scaned of the past or the previous
year right so now when activation talks about their future roadmap and how they're going to innovate
they basically say that they are building the next error of call of duty so they say that there's
meaningful innovation which I believe black up six with the Omni movement is one of the more meaningful
innovations that they've had in quite some time but of course they need to do more of that right
Activision also says that they are going to push the genre forward right and they have strong
confidence in the depth and talent of their development teams of course they didn't give any
specific details when it comes to the continued annual releases this is what Activision had to say
Activision will not end annualization, basically saying a new call of duty every year continues,
but not modern warfare or black ops back to back.
So safe to say, when you look at the landscape of things,
Activision definitely sees where they went wrong, but they still are not going to stop putting out a game every year
because they basically look at the overhead and they say to themselves, hold on now,
we have to make certain type of revenue every single year and that is via putting out a game
but let's promise them innovation because of course we just received the biggest obstacle as far as in
the year of 2025 but not only battlefield six but arc raiders doing phenomenal and then quiet is kept
ready or not is still the third most play game on xbox so now when you look at it and in the
landscape of competition some could say call of duty has received more competition than has ever had in
this previous years so and that goes along with black up six selling tremendously i mean seven
million plus copies in his first three days right best selling game of 2025 and then of course
when you look at that as far as what collar duty usually does as far as having the best
selling game safe to say um the only time they was ever beaten
by game was Hogwarts legacy and then what happened we got the Omni movement and Black
Optic so I do believe this is a great evolution as far as Activision looking at themselves
saying that okay we didn't come out on top this year what could we do for next year
because Quiet is kept as far as the competition call of duty has continuously been putting
BTA on the entire video game industry because when you look at their revenue as far as
Activision specifically they generate two billion plus annual
right because they've dominated
u.s. sales since 2006
and that's insane
and then you also
look at the way that they lost money
it's not only due to the
downfall black up seven
but they even had it with their phenomenal
reception of black op six
because once again the game has
reportedly
cannibalize
itself as far as them
giving such a consumer
friendly product that they ended
up reportedly losing around 300 million plus dollars which is why when you look at the game
pass and you look at the raising the prices um basically i'm on the the side of consumers always but let's
just say i could see how xbox came to that decision i just don't agree with it you guys see that's the
problem i mean if microsoft denying walmart and target is pulling xbox products that they have like a way
bigger fish to fry so when it comes to black ops losing it around 300 million dollars and
them trying to sweep it under the rug you know they're dealing with way bigger problems than that
and then of course when you come to EA as far as saudi right Saudi um investors and jarekishner
buying EA for 55 billion safe to say when you look at the landscape there's a lot of money being
thrown around because these companies are beyond profitable I mean you don't need me to tell
that tell you that but
obviously I don't know if you've heard the exact numbers like I'm laying it out because of course
once again Activision generates one billion right like with a B so you look at at not one billion
my fault um Activision as a as a company generates two two billion annually right and those are
estimated reports and of course when you look at the game pass losing it 300 million some would say
that's a loss but they make a lot of money so then you look at EA specifically right and how much of a
how much revenue that's that specific company makes as safe to say is also a lot but compared to
cod franchise it's not even close as the cod franchise dominates as far as lifetime sales but of course
when it comes to specific games battlefield six is one no black out a battle yeah i don't know why i
mixed it out battlefield six is one of its uh magnum opus as far as selling points right but in totality
activation have been putting on bta for on the music or on the gaming industry for quite some time so
getting back into the original point so now that you're looking at the industry shifting as far as
activision actually looking at itself and say hold on now what could we do better instead of blaming
the consumer safe to say i think they're actually going to give us one of the better innovative games as far as
in the call of duty franchise but we still have to hold them to that promise right because when you look at
historically infinity ward and tray arc alternated yearly so now what the new approach that means they're
going to have to bring somebody as far as a whole new development i don't know if it's going to be a
whole new development team but they're basically got to switch it up from the infinity ward and tray arc hot potato
right because now god forbid the next caller do
sells horrendously.
Maybe, just maybe,
we'll get a new IP from Activision,
which is a non-modern warfare or a non-Black Ops title,
which I believe is the best case scenario
if you really look at what they're trying to say.
So hopefully they keep innovating.
I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt
until I actually see it because now,
when you look at it, safe to say,
BlackOps 6, no, I mean, Battlefield 6 has laid out
an unprecedented run as far as sales and topping the charts in the year of 2025.
So now with Activision looking at itself saying, what can we do better?
With all the resources in the world, I can't wait to see how it plays out.
So with that being said, click my link to you in my bio.
Let me know on one of my social medias.
What do you think about the notorious rivalry as far as call of duty versus battlefield?
And at the end of the day, do you believe the next call of duty installment?
would be one of the best ever in franchise history.
