You're probably wondering to yourself, why in the world are we covering a game that came out in the summer of 2015?
Well, ladies and gentlemen, the resurgence of this video game came for the simple fact that Alien Romulus came to theaters August 16th, 2024.
Now, of course, this movie has grown more anticipation for the actual game that came out in the summer of 2015 because now,
A lot of people are going back to the game and recognizing the AI even, giving it even more flowers for the simple fact that it's one of the more innovative AI evolutions that we've seen in recent time.
Because if you don't know, the game basically employs a dual AI system where one part, known as the director AI, oversees the game's tension by deciding when to introduce the xenomorph into the players for,
without giving away the player's exact location.
And then this AI ensures the game remains challenging and unpredictable.
And of course, you have the other side of the dual AI system where the alien AI
controls the xenomorphs immediate actions based on its sensory perception,
making it react more realistically to players' actions.
So a lot of people came out to say that this is a very innovative feature and it's one of the
greatest AIs that they've ever went again.
against because when it is offered on a discount as far as PlayStation Xbox and Steam,
when it comes to an 80% discount because of the movie being launched,
driving more players to play the game,
that they basically highlight the AI factor in with the spiked sales and gameplay
retention as far as the consumer is considered,
you can only base it off of Alien Romulus that just came out to the movie theaters
because why else will everybody revisit this video game so when this game eventually uh well when the game
came out february 2015 it sold over one million copies worldwide and of course mid 2019 it surpassed
2.1 million copies across europe and u.s so it took a significant amount of time for this to catch steam but
a lot of people were waiting for the bundles the sales for uh to get this game so when it comes to overall
AI system, that's basically what's contributing to the biggest hype when it comes to the game.
Because the persistence tension and the fear of the fear created by the unpredictability of the encounters.
And of course, the mimicking the suspense of the original alien film, you get a lot of people
to get just engulfed into the game simply off of the environment created.
And coming off of the movie Romulus, you get to realize.
that a lot of people are humongous alien fans and there's no wonder why we keep receiving
these alien movies every other year. So alien isolation has seen a revival in player interest
and is definitely driven by the fact that the movie is out. So that's pretty simple in itself, right?
Some of the other things I was wanted to touch on was that not only did it take from 2015 to 2019
to surpass 2.1 million copies, but it seems to only be going up because the current player count
is at 1800 concurrent on Steam.
And of course, this was of me recording this,
so it may be lower, maybe higher.
But this is the highest since April 2020.
Previously, the highest was in summer 2015,
shortly after the game was released.
So you come to realize that people will come back to a game if it's good
and if you have supporting content to go around it.
The supporting content for this specific game
would probably be the movie Alien Romulus because people saw the movie.
People probably wonder to themselves, I wonder if there's an alien game I could play.
And then guess what?
Alien isolation pops up and the AI innovation is back once again to surprise fans
because they did not think a 2015-year-old game would have this type of AI because everybody
knows the evolution of AI nowadays.
So when you're looking at the dual AI system that was introduced in 2015, a lot of players
are just saying that the horror experience is just greatly enhanced because they don't know what's
going to happen i mean the whole environment feels alive and dangerous players often feel that they're
not just playing against a scripted AI but more of an enemy that's adapting to how they play the game
which is very rare if i might add like the way that you actually go at a video game you can probably
guess where AI is going to go as far as the patterns usually they go to one location they go to another
And then it's very predictable as far as as you play the game.
But with this one, you don't play the game.
The game is basically playing you because at the same,
at the entire time,
the entire time you're playing the game.
It's learning the way you move around and it's adapting and using intelligence
and unpredictability in the alien movements and tactics to throw you off.
So it's just so many different ways you can have this game impact you,
but it's basically off your gameplay.
So that's why it's just,
so innovative. That's why I keep saying that word because the 2015 game in 2024 being celebrated
for its AI system just seems backwards, right? Especially when almost a decade has passed since
the game has been released. So when it comes to its influence on other game developers, I mean,
exploring the AI systems may have led to the future evolution of AI because not only does the AI
control the enemies, but also dynamically alters the game environments and narratives based on the
players decisions pushing toward a more personalized game and experience.
If you know anything about the podcast, Notorious Mass Effect,
is named after one of my favorite games of all time for that simple,
but for the fact that it has a customizable,
narrative experience based on your decisions.
And it actually affects the outcome of the game.
So this is no different.
So when it comes to players playing this game and giving increased enthusiasm,
after revisiting or maybe even going back to a game that they've going back to this game when
they've already played it they come to realize that this AI enhances the horror and survival
elements to a place where they've rarely experienced and especially for a 2015 game to do that
I mean it's just the icing on the cake so when it comes to the actual um the actual movie I mean I don't
know if people like it or not I mean I think I've seen some reviews for the movie
but I'm not a movie reviewer.
I mean, if you want to see a reviewer for a movie,
I would go to like Grace Randolph,
which is beyond the trailer or Jeremy Johns
with their review of the alien movie,
if they reviewed it.
But as far as alien isolation
and the way that they've switched up
the overall sentiment
when it comes to these type of games,
as far as it being cookie cutter
and easy to figure out,
this game is far from that.
I mean, it adapts to your play styles,
it learns from your behavior,
and it will check,
hiding spots more frequently if you use them often. So as far as a random occurrence, I mean,
it's just so many that can happen in the midst of your playthrough of this game. But,
you know, overall, I mean, the AI system is just widely regarded as a benchmark for enemy intelligence.
And you'd be like, you hear that, Ubisoft. There's actually ways you can upgrade your AI system
to have your enemy intelligence higher. So with that being said, I mean,
the revival interest, the sales being driven back up to the highest peak since it originally came
out, like once again, like 1,800 concurrent players on Steam. And that's not even counting the
consoles like PlayStation and Xbox. And basically, the peak and player count is the highest since
summer 2015 when it was originally released. So these are some pretty significant numbers that
this is driving up. Obviously, it's not chart topping. But for the game, I mean, the game's
more alive than it was when it originally came out. So for the AI to be a highlight of the game
when it came out in 2015, I mean, I don't know what to say about that other than that's just
phenomenal. So I would definitely play that game if you have some spare time just to, you know,
maybe stream something that, especially getting into October, streaming something that adds
more of a horror element based on the way that you play. I mean, it's just very unpredictable.
and more importantly well most importantly organic so this game legacy would just
continue to live on as the AI innovation continues to inspire other gaming developers and as far as
a revival with the sequel I mean I you put out a sequel with multi-player mode or something like
that the sky is the limit for this franchise so I mean but this franchise has been going on for
so long that they obviously know what they're doing so with this game I would definitely play
it, especially getting into October, seems like one of the more horror genre game standouts
in 2024. And with that being said, you know, click my link, sure in my bio, let me know
one of my social media's. What do you think about the movie Alien Romulus? Like, what score do you give
that? And as far as alien isolation, a game that came out in 2015, but still to this day,
wowes people with their AI innovative features. Will you be giving it a try?
Thank you.
