Our Star has put out her second album titled The Year I Turned 21.
Now, this album came out today, of course, but it is 40 minutes and 31 seconds long.
And the reason I'm saying that is because her last album, which was 19 and Dangerous,
came out in August 6, 2021.
That was 11 songs and 33.
minutes and 14 seconds.
So with this uptick and production, I have to talk about the type of backing that has been
put behind this project because I do believe that R.R. Star is organically becoming
more known in certain households when it comes to music.
But I don't necessarily think that the public understands who R.R. Star is.
So I kind of wanted to break it down just a little bit.
and just talk about her album in general.
So starting with the album, like I already said,
15 tracks, 40 minutes and 31 seconds,
features a mix of local and international collaboration,
such as Givion, I believe that was on,
he's on the album,
Coco Jones and Brazilian artists like Anita,
RVSS-I-N.
Is that rush?
Is that supposed to,
am I just supposed to disregard the V?
Is that Russian?
I don't know.
in Raw Alejandro.
I do remember covering him
as well as Nigerian artist
Asake Asake and
Sayhi
I think it's Sayhi vibes.
Yeah so hopefully I ain't butcher those names too much.
But the album obviously has subgenres
within Afro beats while
incorporating contemporary
Afrobeats, Latin rhythms and
Yoruba
High Life. I think that's how you say it.
The year I turned 21 as far as the album will basically do well on the charts because of these following details.
Because after looking this up, I realize that Universal Music Group is slick with the way it helps out artists.
But at the end of the day, they're helping out artists or how bad can you really be?
Because I talk about the market sharing music all the time.
And Universal Music Group dominates the market share.
like 50%
60% would be like a low ball
and underperforming for universal music group
usually they're in the 60 to 70 to 80%
as far as market share and why
because they have all of these subdivisions
which makes you think it's not universal music group
but then you come to find out
these subdivisions are all under universal
music group because when you're so big
you start to delegate resources to minor teams to go to specific regions.
What do I mean about that?
Mavin Global is an iconic Afrobees record label based in Lagos, Nigeria, founded in 2012 by renowned,
artist, producer, and music executive Michael Collins, Agheri.
I don't know.
also known as Don Jazzy.
And the label has played a pioneering role
in breaking Afrobeat's artists within Africa and beyond.
Keep that in mind, right?
That's a whole other country.
And come to find out, Mavin Global is a Universal Music Group investment.
Universal Music Group made a major investment
into the African just Afrobees genre
and basically
took over Mavin Global
by making a majority investment
expected to be
expected to be closed in quarter three of
2024 because it was just recently announced
that RR Star
which is one of the biggest Afro Pop sensations
out of that area
just officially partnered
with Republic Records.
Who is Republic Records under?
Hmm.
Just so happen to be under Universal Music Group.
Comes for a circle, doesn't it?
So Universal Music Group is using its resources in very interesting ways.
And I'm telling you as a marketer, as a studier of the craft of gaining the masses as far as the attention, universal music group is putting on a master class in the music industry.
So that is why I bring that up.
But also just speaking towards or speaking to aria stars just creativity and artistry.
I like the track with Givion.
Obviously, I haven't listened to the whole album yet.
The track with Givion is just one of the ones they was promoting as far as new releases on Spotify.
So that's one of the biggest new music playlists out in the world.
And that's just the one they highlighted from my album.
them but one thing to note is that her whole entire body of work is out on all DSP so it's not just
that track would give you on even though that's the one that they seemingly are putting forth right
now as the as the unofficial single but i just wanted to give you all those details because
that's a pretty big deal as far as universal music group being able to tap into these different
countries solely by taking over certain niche labels like a Mavin global and just making a majority
investment to the point where now they own that label and now they could funnel their top
premier artists into their more established subdivisions like a republic records so it's like a
pipeline you can follow if you really you know deep dive into it but if you don't want to hey
That's what I'm here for.
You know what I'm saying?
And give you some jokes along the way.
Like, where's Givion been all these years?
Like, obviously, as a Drake fan, I want another Drake and Givion track because I'm not going to lie to you.
I'd be listening to Chicago freestyle to this day.
I mean, that chorus that Givion gave, it needs to be up next to the Mona Lisa or something.
Like, that's how great that sounds.
But, you know, as a Drake fan, I just wanted more Drake and Givion features and wanted to use this as a,
as a point to point that out because
yeah and then his
ending verse on in the Bible okay I'm sorry
enough Givion praise y'all know how I feel about Givion
if y'all heard me talk about him before but as far as
RR Star her album out her album
the year I turn 21 um is out now
on all DSPs which is a very interesting title
I might add I bet like Tygo Travis let me chill
so anyways um yeah click my link tree in my bio
Let me know one of my social media is, what do you think about Arrestar releasing her new album,
The Year I Turned 21?
And also, when it comes to quality in Arrestar, what is your favorite track from this Afrobeats artist?
