Now, of course, ladies and gentlemen, you already know that Baby Monster just came out with an EP titled Chum, May 4th.
You guys.
And then you come to realize, just one month after, they came out with a new single that is titled,
sugar honey ice tea now the reason why we're breaking this down is because of the particular fact
of overseas acts having a particular hard time getting on the billboard charts and that's a reason
for that as if you look at youtube right now baby monster with the sugar honey ice tea music
video is currently the most played video on youtube and of course when you look at the numbers
specifically i'm trying to see i'm bringing it up right now when you look at the number specifically it did 21
million views and one day so the question probably arises how in the world are they not charting on
billboard well that's why i am here to break it down in totality because of course we are going to get
into i just basically got into them releasing their new single sugar honey iced tea but i wanted to use
this specific segment to talk about baby monsters
in the light of YouTube and hauntio charts.
Hopefully I'm saying that right.
So as far as the hauntio charts,
they are going crazy numbers, numbers wise,
as they sold 600.
And let me see if I can find it.
So basically with the latest EP,
they ended up selling 677,000 first sweet copies.
And of course,
debuted on number one on,
the charts but then of course we look at billboard it was nowhere to be found as there's a particular
distinction between south korea's hantio charts and billboard the u.s billboard 200 charts as the
hantio charts tracks real-time physical point-of-sale album purchases and the u.s billboard 200
chart uses a weighted system called the equivalent album units now what is the difference we're about to get
to it right now. As the equivalent album units, this combines pure physical and digital album sales
with streaming data, which of course is currently being dominated by a particular individual.
Is it okay? I got my dope on me. But we don't need to get into that right now. As 1,500 streams
equals one album unit, but really just one physical unit because even if you put out a single,
you still need 1,500 streams for that to be one physical unit. So when it comes to,
of that this is a very different formula than the hantio charts has which basically tracks everything
as far as real time physical point of sale purchases of course youtube because if you didn't know
ladies and gentlemen youtube is currently beefing with billboard now i know what you're saying
how in the world is that even possible well for some reason youtube no longer even reports to
billboard as of january 16th 2026 and because of the dispute over the war
waiting as billboard weighted the youtube streams lower and youtube was like hold on now you guys it was
like you guys they walked into the billboard room and it was like hold on now why is our streams
not being counted as much as some of the other platforms even though we have a premium tier right
and youtube argued that this is outdated and undervalues massive free fan engagement on this platform
along with the premium so because of that
that YouTube demanded one to one equality for all streams.
So not only did you already need 1,500 streams
to equivalent one physical unit,
but now with YouTube being counted even less,
it was not one to one.
I think it was a roughly 1 to 2.5 ratio
as far as the updated Billboard YouTube crossover.
So now that they're not crossing over,
because of the demand for one-to-one equality for all streams,
they currently don't work together.
they don't report the numbers to each other and that's why you don't see artists like baby monster doing
phenomenal on the charts uh youtube charts i might add once again having the most viewed video as of
right now on youtube being counted for billboard which is probably why they completely missed out on the
billboard 200 when it came to their EP tune now that is why i wanted to break that down specifically
talking about overseas acts because i already know that the young boy fans out there we're
probably raised some type of issue whenever he puts out his next album because NBA Young
Boys fan base primarily is on YouTube and he has a mammoth of a fan base on YouTube.
I think he's one of the top YouTube artists of all time at this point in time.
So we're breaking us down for Baby Monster, Korea, basically a K-pop girl group, but it's still
going to cross over into other genres and where I think is going to shine the most, especially
when NBA Youngboy drops and his fans start to wonder why is Billboard not counting YouTube
streams? Because that's primarily with YouTube. Well, Young Boy gets most of his streams from.
So anyways, with that being said, Billboard is still doing, I mean, Baby Monster is still doing
immaculate. I mean, the album, the EP, Chume, which if you don't know, the reason why is
the EP is because I believe it's under 25 minutes. So let me see. Yeah, so it's 12 minutes.
It's four tracks, 12 minutes. There's Moon, Chume, I like it, and locked in.
Now, of course, when it comes to an EP is harder to stream big as far as first week numbers
because you don't have as much quantity to go along with the fan engagement.
That's why a lot of major acts, a major label acts, put out 15 plus tracks on the albums
to help out with their first week sales, or just sales in general, for the album.
So now with that being said, when it comes to the baby monster condesuers out there,
of course, you already know I got you covered.
as not only in 2025, as far as Baby Monsters debut tour,
did they have 32 shows, 300,000 attendance across Asia plus U.S.
Now with their updated fan base and them increasing their fan base time and time again,
their specific tour that's coming up now, which is titled the Chum World Tour,
starts June 2026 and analytic dreams video on Spotify to see the video along with the audio,
currently have the flyer up for the June 10th performance. So with that being said, they will be in a lot of
places for this upcoming tour as they'll be in Seo, Seo, Seoul, I think that's how they say it,
jam seal for three nights. And then Japan, then Asia, North America, Europe, South America,
and then Oshia, Oceania, I don't know how to say that. Excuse me if I butcher that.
I swear I ain't doing it on purpose. But basically, the reason why I say all those places is because
Just know this tour is way bigger than the last one.
And this is their second tour and are already going on the world tour.
So shout out to Baby Monster for having a phenomenal, notorious mass effect.
As of course, they are under YG, which I would be definitely remiss to not bring up how
YG Entertainment is one of the biggest music labels just in the world.
Obviously not bigger than UMG, Sony, and Warner.
But when it comes to the K-pop industry, they are definitely one of the big three
in that specific region as if you don't know their top revenue drivers is a particular artist that we've
well a particular group that we've covered many times i mean to the point where we've covered
individual acts from this particular group the group i'm talking about is black pink of course they
are the top revenue drivers for yg entertainment of course followed by treasure and then you have
baby monsters so yg is definitely not hurting when it comes to their bottom line uh as far as
everything they have consolidated as far as a company.
They have 545 billion KRW.
Excuse me, if I'm ignorant.
I don't know what that means.
But basically converting that into USB is about $400 million.
Safe to say if you run in a company and you have around $400 million and you still have
Black Pink and Baby Monster under your umbrella, safe to say you.
doing pretty well.
So that's why I wanted to shout them out as they are definitely one of the major
marketing drivers or one of the biggest funders for Baby Monsters Rise to Fame.
Not saying they couldn't do it on their own.
I'm just saying it definitely helps to have a YG entertainment in your corner.
So with Baby Monster having such a new rise to fame, because they haven't been around,
I mean, that long.
I think they started in November, 2023.
And of course, yeah, okay, so they started November, 2023.
they're the fastest rising fifth gen girl group whatever that means that's like a ESPN type step
they have a rookie year awards from golden disc circle chart might be i don't know what that is
those are just specific award shows and then of course it was the first to two billion spotify
streams the fastest debut music video to 200 million views with sheesh and 33 days and as you can
tell when it comes to Baby Monster, they do phenomenal on YouTube, which is why I brought up
the whole YouTube and Billboard Beef, because I believe that is probably why we're not seeing
any impact from Baby Monster on the U.S. Billboard charts as none of, let me see. Yeah, so Drip,
their first full album debuted 149th on Billboard 200, selling under 10 to 12,000 copies first
week. Now when it comes to
their latest EP, once again, it's only four tracks.
So I'm not counting it too hard, but I mean,
the specific singles could chart on the singles
billboard chart. But as far as the projects, it did not
enter the main top 200. Now,
they are breaking ground in Korea,
which once I said,
once again, they did top the charts as far as the
Hontio charts. But when it comes to U.S. Billboard charts,
there are nowhere to be found. And because of
what I just said earlier, as far as the
discreferency between the South Korea's
between South Korea's
Hantio charts and the U.S. Billboard 200.
It's very much a different playing
ground. Yeah, play
playing field for
overseas acts. So
I don't think it's like a
huge deal for Baby Monster, but if they did want
to transition and
start to impact the
U.S. Billboard charts more often,
which in turn will probably
have
will have
increased airplay for them.
the United States, I think YG Entertainment should focus on figuring that aspect out.
Because, of course, me as a fan, you know, I'm not going to figure it out for you.
You know what I'm saying?
So, hey, YG Entertainment, hey, y'all figure that out yourself, you know what I'm saying?
But that's definitely the next thing that Baby Monster can do as far as figuring out how to
even more notoriously affect the masses.
As right now, they are probably focused on the World Tour.
Once again, it starts June 10th, 2026, as you can see right here on the flyer.
and well this is the performance video spoiler but as far as the chum world tour it's starting june
26 once again since soul jamsill for three nights then japan then asia north america europe
south america and then o'shiania hopefully i pronounce that right so with that being said click
my link to my bio to follow me on my social medias and if you're on spotify make sure to comment
down below if you're a baby monster fan where you be going to watch them live when they come to the
states
