Thank you to every Big L fan who's kept his name alive all these years.
Over the past 20 years, there were over 100 million views in streams of his music out there.
Most of it released without his brother Big Dawn forever knowing how to find it, track it, or even monetize it.
But then, you know what I'm saying?
I was like, damn, look at the state of hip-hop.
Like what's going on?
There were labels set up artwork and videos created that he and Big El's half sister Tyreece had never seen.
Thanks to Nazir and the team at Mass Appeal, we were finally able to create a brand new master from those unauthorized songs.
that the estate of Lamont
Big L. Coleman
owns outright.
I know that's right.
I know that ain't who I think it is.
That's a miracle in the business.
And it wouldn't have happened
without mass appeal
in you, Big L fans.
You guys.
Before a nod stepped in,
it was y'all carrying the torch.
From the bottom of our hearts,
thank you for keeping.
even big l's legacy alive now ladies and gentlemen that was a media pro a post from big l's representatives
and of course mass appeal as if you don't know a whole album just came out if you don't from big l and
he unfortunately passed away and when it comes to big l and his post hummus release it is um
the fifth installment in the mass appeal's legend has it series which followed
projects by Rayquine ghost face killer slick Rick and mob deep and then the upcoming
installments is De La Sol Nause and DJ premiere entitled a joint album so this is a series
of events as far as over at Mass Appeals basically putting a lot of respect on our
hip-hop greats on our hip-hop icons so with this being the next installment or the
current installment Big El has a whole album out right now on DSPs and is 16
songs total in 39 minutes in length.
And if you would have looked at the track list,
I'm saying there's a 90% chance.
You would have been completely surprised by who's on here.
As not only do you have Nas,
not only do you have Method Man, Mac Miller,
Joey,
what is the PG podcast?
Who else?
Yeah, so Jay-Z, Nas,
Method Man, MacMiller.
And of course, hold up now.
Now strategically, I'm not going to say it strategic, but a lot of outlets did not have Joe Budden's name as far as the featuring list.
And you know, when I listened to the actual album, maybe it made sense because, you know, it was basically him just talking.
I was like, it should have said featuring the Joe Button podcast.
I mean, because that's essentially him too.
So anyways, the main thing I wanted to say about that is I thought that was hilarious.
But Jay-Z was the one I was leaving out as far as earlier talking about his contributions as he's on this album with a track title, Seven-Min and Freestyle.
Now, when it comes to the respect, the OGs put on Big L's name, that's the main thing that stood out to me, somebody who's just a wee little lag getting into the hip hop game, right, as far as the coverage.
Now, when you look at the overall influence of Big L, he is known for his wordplay and punchlines, and his debut album was Lifestyles Over the Poor and Dangerous, which came out in 1995.
And he was killed in a drive-by shooting in Harlem at age 20.
24. So his previous post hummus albums was the big picture back in the 2000s that went gold as far as certified in its first post hummus project.
2010 he put out 139 in Linux and obviously this is his estate putting out these future projects.
And in 2011 they put out the danger zone. So big L has had post post hummus releases before.
But I do believe it's the first time where you've had a lot of
eyes on a specific project as far as engagement because I haven't heard about Big
L as far as conversations who's the greatest in rap and in like ever and I've covered this for
quite some time like I think when you talk about hip hop legends sometimes because people
are so great such as a nod such as a JZ 50 cent a Drake things of that nature
Tupac Biggie you kind of leave out some of the other pioneers as far as this game right so big
L had a huge history with a long history with Nas and they both signed to Columbia in 1992 and
this was just a full circle moment as far as Nas coming back and helping him out so that's the
main thing I was wanting to get into I don't know too much about about Big L trans you know being
transparent because of course if I don't know about a certain rapper I'm not going to act like
like I said he was going crazy in the music field before I was even alive and then he he died
before I was even born so you know it's kind of hard to talk about oh yeah I remember this I remember
that so basically I'm just letting the old heads out there and you don't have to be old to listen to
big L I'm just letting the people out there know that Big L does have another post hummus project and
if you was wanting to hear it it is titled Harlem's finest return of the king um and it's 16
tracks total 39 minutes in length and the main thing for me is looking at that jZ feature the noz feature
and knowing the type of positive symptoms that they sent towards his way and of course when it
comes to the overall release there's a lot of um there was a lot of unreleased vocals i believe that was put
on this so uh combined because it combines big l's 1997 to him with freestyle vocals with a new
noz verse so that's the main thing you need to know so a lot of these um versus as far as people on
this album uh previously as far as the album it had unclear samples unpaid producers unmastered tracks
um as far no not not this album but many of the old releases of big l so mass appeal basically
made sure that they had all things all the ducks in the row putting out this album with proper
mixing a mastery mastering clearing the samples uh crediting collatering collaboration the samples uh crediting collaboration
elaborate things of that nature and re-release the best quality versions of rare freestyle so that's the main thing
just letting you know that big l does have a current album out titled harlem's violence uh the return of the king
so that being said click my link to you in my bio let me know one of my social medias what do you think
about big l's latest album harlem's finest return of the king and of course with the star studied cast
as far as features which in which verse and also whose appearance
was your favorite on the Big L album.
