clarity and really reestablishing your clarity.
It's something I had to go over myself,
but I realized we all probably dealing with time moving so fast
and trying to keep up with ourselves,
and I feel like that's when it really.
Now, I'm not going to lie to you.
You got to click Analytic Dreams video on Spotify
to get the video along with the audio version,
because I thought I was dreaming.
Pause.
Had to pinch myself and realize,
no, you are not dreaming and you are not just hallucinating.
Big Sean is actually back to give us new music.
Now, for long-time listeners, y'all already know.
Big Sean was my favorite rapper.
And the reason I say was is because in my pivotal high school years,
It's almost like the avatar mean.
When he needed him most, he vanished.
Because Big Sean stopped dropping music.
So guess he was there to pick me up when it came to musical creation.
Of course, the goat, Aubrey Graham, and I never looked back since.
But it's still a special place in the musical heart that I have.
As Big Sean to me is still my favorite rapper when it comes just to putting words together.
Now, of course, I always say Kendrick is the best, but it's because of output, but even he lately has been taking humongous hiatus to the point where it's like, don't nobody want to rap no more.
So it makes sense because now the melodic sonics is more coveted amongst the masses than actual lyricism.
So with Big Sean coming back, it's definitely inspiring.
because it seems like he is coming back with a passion that will make this album to me
one of the best albums of the year.
I may be a little biased,
but I am already stating that I think Big Sean is going to put out the best album of
2024.
And yes,
I say that wholeheartedly,
even if Kendrick drops,
because let me tell you something.
I don't think there's anybody out there on the face of the earth that can
rap better than Big Sean personally.
Because it's just a reason that
the only time this man
Kendrick tries to go all out
as far as lyrical warfare is with Big Sean.
I think there's a reason why he targeted Big Sean
as the most pivotal enemy
to being considered the top rapper amongst his peers.
I mean, there's a reason why the track...
I'm trying to see if I could find it.
Okay, I found it.
So there's a reason why the track Holy Key exists.
Go listen to that track and then come back.
There's a reason why the track.
There's another one.
There's two of them where they went back to back.
Let me see if I could find it.
Let me see if I can find it.
This holy key and then there's another one.
Why can I find it?
That's crazy.
No, okay, now I got to find it
because it's going to help prove my point.
and it had to be on a DJ Calla album you know Kendrick's team probably hit that because let me tell
you a lot of people be like oh yeah Kendrick watched uh kentrick watched big sean on holy key but then
i don't think people realize big shan don't have the name drop he could just give you straight bars
i feel like kendrick is more the name drop and get his point across obviously you know kendricks
by far and away, one of the best rappers in the game.
So not discrediting him.
It's almost like when you're talking about MJ and LeBron
when we're coming to the modern-day lyricists.
Obviously, Jermaine fans out there are probably screaming.
You know, they're a favorite artist's name,
but they're just delusional,
so we're just going to leave them in the little classroom.
So with that being said,
Holy Key by Big Sean and Kendrick
is one of the best lyrical hip-hop songs I've ever heard in life.
Maybe the best,
This is like the highest praise I could ever give a track.
Like I can't even like lyrics wise.
This is the highest praise I could ever give.
Holy key is the best lyrical spar I've ever heard as far as it actually being a song
and them still sparring bar for bar.
Obviously it wasn't back to back or back and forth.
It was just more like his verse and then Big Sean's verse and Kendrick's verse.
What Jay Cole and Drake did is why people are so upset at Drake.
Oh, no, what Big Sean and Kendrick did on Holy Key is why people were so upset at Drake for taking an easy route on the track with Germain when we're talking about straight shooters.
Because when two lyricists are on the track, you don't always have to just go for the head.
But the way that Big Sean and Kendrick did it, like just trying to just tear each other's head off and lyrically destroy one.
another that is how two top master class lyricists spar against each other and obviously you know
there's no bloodshed you know there's nothing had to be physical no shooting one another it's just
for the love of the sport i think i'm better than this man and i'm gonna show it to the umpteenth degree
and then we got another battle of uh kendrick and big shan i believe
Eve.
I think it was another battle.
Maybe I'm tripping.
I thought there was two battles.
Like, because I remember Big Sean picked up Kendrick one time.
And then they came again, pause, on another Cala album.
That's crazy because it just stopped the whole flow of what I was trying to do.
I thought it was on here.
I guess not.
Yeah, man, Kendrick's team does a great job on a,
I ain't going to lie to you.
I feel like they know Big Sean got them.
Yeah, it was holy key.
I guess I must be tripping.
I thought there was two tracks where they went back and forth on.
I guess not.
I guess I'm just, I guess I just forgot.
Actually, we're just going to go through this little rabbit hole together, right?
I know for the, I know for a fact there's two songs.
Oh, I'm tripping.
Oh, my God.
I literally said it throughout the segment.
It was controlled.
I thought he battled big,
I thought he battled Kendrick twice off of like two.
I thought he battled once on Holy Key.
And then there was another DJ Cala album.
But I think I'm just thinking of when he was on control.
So yeah,
that's basically it.
I'm tripping.
So yeah,
the two lyrical spars that I just,
to this day is just the bar when it comes.
to commercial
lyricists going back and forth and still
being an actual song
you will replay in like
a club or outdoor spot
like just the overall track is phenomenal
but not everything has to be just a melodic fest
of you talking about the different women
who you have problems with
like you could just lyrically go at somebody
and y'all could still have a replayable track
for the masses so that's why control one
and Holy Key is one of the most pivotal commercial lyrical battles that I've heard as far as in hip hop and holy key is still by far and away the best
lyrical track I've ever heard in hip hop I don't care who y'all bring up jZ none of them like I don't care if y'all bring up jc C and and and rickamwell's on the same track or big biggie and two pockets now it's big Sean
Kendrick, Holy Key, the best lyrical track I've ever heard in life.
Anyways, yeah, that's crazy.
I spent all that time looking for a track, though, right in my face, and I've already talked about.
So, I said why I think Big Sean had a better verse on control is simply for the fact that
Kendrick name dropped, and Big Sean just stuck the straight, just wordplay, triple entendre,
things of that nature.
Let's get into the reason why I'm even playing this.
So Big Sean hasn't dropped the album since Detroit, too, of course.
It came out in 2020.
It's 2024.
But to be fair, the pandemic gave grace to a lot of people, like two years, I would say,
because now we're seeing the ramifications of the pandemic.
A lot of things that was said to come out, got postponed because of the pandemic,
and a lot of people who don't have jobs right now is a direct reflection of the aftermath of the pandemic.
I know a lot of people think it's such a, you know, we have such an instant gratification culture
that now when it comes to cause and effect culture, not being as instant, they're all blindsided.
They're like, oh, I didn't know this would happen even though the pandemic shutting down the whole world.
People thought we wasn't going to have any ramifications for that.
So that's a whole other thing.
I don't want to get into my political bag.
But anyways, what else?
Big Sean announced his album with a short video, which we're going to watch this in this
entirety because that's how much of a Big Sean fan I am.
And the announcement comes with the release of a short video and shows him with hip boy Timbalin,
Tyler, Creator, and Little Yadi.
Not going to lie to you.
Little Yaddy getting all of this praise right now as far as like people wanted to use his mind
to contribute to their individual projects
to increase the quality
is 100% deserve
because I think what Luriyadi did
in writing Act Up for the City Girls
is like when LeBron and his rookie year
took the Cavaliers to the finals.
Like look at the state of the City Girls currently,
no disrespect, even though they're probably going to feel like
it's total disrespect.
But no disrespect.
Lodiadi pulled a little, pulled a rookie year LeBron when he brought the Cavaliers to the finals when he wrote active for the city girls and did irreversible damage to the women subject genre.
Like it was already getting to a point where people talked about things as far as the three trinity, the trinity of topics in hip hop, which is money, drugs, girls.
Right. Well, money and then the drugs part could be like fashion or whatever.
But anyways, the money, lifestyle, and then the girls.
But with Yadi, he single-handedly took act up, gave it to the city girls.
And now all they talk about is their body, their body, and their body.
That's it.
Ain't no Trinity of topics.
That's all they talk about.
So Yadi also, on the other.
other hand helped out my goat drake and creating some great melodic but also combining that lyrical
aspect with um back outside track i think it was called back outside something but um yeah so
yadi is is deservedly getting his uh consultant be paid for by these high tier artists i'm not saying to
paying Yadi for his influence of course but it is definitely deserved well deserved from the mind
of Lill Yadi and people who a long time listening to the podcast know that I always talk about how
Lid Yadi is just the worst artist sonically I've ever heard in life so for me to give that praise
when it comes to his pen and just his ear for others because obviously he don't have it for himself
So his ear for others and how they should go about things is just superior amongst his peer group.
So yeah, let's get into this video.
Big Sean opened up about his struggles with mental health,
how he sought therapy to deal with his anxiety and depression,
and his classic body of work because I'm biased set to come out this year
will be the follow up of 2020's Detroit 2.
So let's get into the video.
And of course, if you want to watch,
this for yourself um let me see big Sean Clarity on Big Sean's YouTube account so let's
get into it right now really helps the most and since there's no music I can just play this
in this entirety that attention on your intention that's the quickest way to get to where you are now
to where you desire to be at also I'm gonna be stopping this throughout because I just want
you all know I'm a huge Big Sean fan and to this
Janae Aiko fans out there I need y'all to stay far away right I only no 2080 720 360 I
only none of that big Sean alone no generico contributions to your project I know that may
seem like hey because that's a significant other that's his baby mom but respectfully I just
want a big Sean album I feel like when Janaia Aiko came into his life she positively affected it
Of course, from a long-term perspective, but as far as the short-term, when I needed Big Sean
on that I don't mess with you type vibe, it took that away from me.
So selfishly, I need Juna Iaco to just not attribute to this project, and that is all.
Thank you. Let's keep going.
And I feel like clarity is that bridge to that.
And I'm just speaking from experience, I feel.
they could really turn years in the months, you know?
And life changes.
Man, that's what we like to see right there.
This is what we like to see.
For all my big Sean fans out there, y'all know the pain we've been through for a little bit.
Like, it was just people just playing with this man named.
He's going to show him.
The way he put words together second to none.
All the time.
And it's all right to change with it.
You know, I feel like we get caught up in like, oh, I made a commitment or I made a promise to this.
and you know you want to stick through it but when you do something because you feel like you're
supposed to do it as opposed to because your heart's still in it or because you know because you love it
it's always going to show in the results every time it sounds complete it sounds like yeah who is this white man
i don't know i just like i don't know who this man is i ain't go lie and this is probably somebody
like this is probably somebody legendary i ain't going to lie i'm probably just being completely
disrespectful right now. I don't know who this is.
It sounds cinematic. It sounds
it sounds like timeless.
Thank you, man. And honestly, the
commitment to yourself is just first and foremost.
Especially if it's
a job or a hobby or
your passion. It's just
life is too short to
play around with that.
Speaking to playing around,
playing around
just playing music around
people you admire
in a studio has to be hard
because aren't those like the best speakers
it's like possible like the sound quality is just immaculate it's like being in a movie theater
and watching a movie like you know it has to go out on people's phone so it's like the quality
maybe i don't know just i don't know if you'd be able to hear everything that he's doing
as far as being able to sonically let him know if it's a hit or not but you know at the end of day
i think you i think you can i just i've heard from established musicians that that's a
real thing like studio ears is a real thing you be in the studio big speakers is playing every synthesizer
you can hear every note every key every level and then you get into the car and then it's drowned out
and then what you're saying may not be as intelligent as you thought when you was in a studio so now
it just comes out to be in the watch so i've heard studio ears is a real thing obviously i'm not saying
that's about big shot i'm just bringing that fact up just so y'all know how sometimes
musicians listen to the music in the studio that's why the car test is a real thing you drive around
and listen to your music and then you get back into the studio because sometimes the studio gets you
um acclimated to such a immersive sound that you realize not mostly nobody's going to experience
your music like that they're going to listen to it on their phone then they're just going to play it on
a speaker blasting in at a club like nobody's going to have the isolated um basically the phone padded
room where they're just listening to studio speakers and that atmosphere.
So anyways, let's keep going.
I just want to add that.
That one.
Shit, I love that.
And also the perspective of being a new parent, you know, being a father, that's
giving me a lot of clarity.
I remember one of our son's first doctor's appointments when he was still in mom's belly.
You know, it was when you see the baby's heartbeat.
and we saw his heartbeat and that was it.
That was the very first thing present was his heart
and it just put in perspective like,
okay, wow, your heart is wise.
You know, it's the wisest part about you.
It knows.
So you always got to be real with yourself.
You got to, you know, listen to your heart.
It's too easy for you, man.
I'll be doing it for a minute.
Was he at Drake Show?
Question mark?
No, just playing.
I don't know if that's Drake show or not.
You know, listen to your heart.
It's too easy.
It's too easy for you, man.
for you, man. I'll be doing it for a minute, I see, man.
Oh, is that Bernie Mac in the background? What is that?
You've been doing it for a while, home.
Yeah, you've been doing it for a minute, man, I see.
It's too easy.
A lot of times the ego to mind, a lot of things get in the way,
but your heart knows, you know, so
it's all right to check in with yourself, and ask,
is this what you still desire? Is this where
my heart still is? Is this where my past?
Yo, pause.
Hey, yo.
Yo, okay, for the people, I think I forgot to say this.
Well, no, I think I did say this at the beginning.
Analytic Dreams video to see the video along with the audio.
But, hey, yo.
Anyways, we're going to keep going.
That's why I flagrant.
Yo, that's crazy.
I ain't never seen them.
Yo, what type of sound quality you get with that?
Imagine, imagine he was just like, all right, so we need some ad libs.
Y'all doing ad libs with that mic?
food for thought
is this where my heart still is
is this where my passion is and
that's why I fly reestablishing
their clarity
really comes into
comes into play
all right they're playing
music hold up when you skip past this
with your results
whatever it is you're doing
you're the one that has to look back on it
hold up who is big Sean signed to
I think that's another big deal
because
he took a
I mean a four years
or hiatus, you know, it's not too long.
I mean, if you think about how long Kendrick was gone.
Let me see.
I mean, technically, he's been pretty active throughout the years.
But, you know, when I was in high school, I selfishly wanted music.
And, you know, that was, let me see.
He is under, this man is under getting out our dreams.
Oh, he's under Universal.
Oh, yeah, you definitely can't play no music.
Hey, Universal, they do not play.
If y'all don't know my little beat, it's not even a beef.
I think Universal just does this to everybody.
But especially me.
Man, yeah.
Let's just say Big Shahn's in good hands being under Universal.
Let's keep going.
And feel those feelings.
It's this metaphor that applies to, you know, clarity.
It's like, I forgot where I heard it from,
but it's like you're on this journey of life.
and you in this car and you got this clean windshield
and you with your family or your team or whoever.
That car is nice, but wait till y'all see his Tesla truck.
I wonder if that's in this video.
If now I pull up his IG.
Everything, you know, it kind of dirties your windshield up.
And you can still make it through, you can still see it,
but it might just take a little longer.
You know, you might not see all the beauty and magic.
Life has to offer you.
You still gonna make it, but we're not just here to make it.
We're here to thrive in it, you know?
You coming in and giving me that, that, I guess that eagle eye perspective is like just super helpful because, yeah, like, it's just like I need it.
That's why I hit you up.
I was on here, man.
And I'm like, it's some things on here that I'm like, oh, this is great.
This is great.
Like, again, I think your superpower is rapping.
But, like, on a different, different level, like, words, the way you put words together is your superpower.
Thank you.
Got let that marinate.
Then it's your biggest flaw.
So if you are feeling stuck...
You just say biggest flaw.
Hold up now.
Thank you.
And then it's your biggest flaw.
So if you are feeling stuck
or you're just feeling like you're not in alignment with
who you know you are,
which that leads to anxiety.
Wait, hold on. What did that lead to?
Nah, they can't just cut that out.
Why didn't cut that out?
He said it's your biggest flaw.
It's your superpower.
Thank you.
And then it's your biggest flaw.
fall.
Look at that.
Look at his face.
Hold up.
This is my documentary.
You can't be, it's like, it's like when any MJ teammates said something bad about him
in the last dance.
Like, hold up now.
Nah, cut that out.
Cut that out.
He's, mm-mm.
It's my documentary.
He was like, what?
Hold on now.
Biggest flaw.
Look at his face.
Oh, whatever.
If you are feeling stuck or you're just feeling like you're not in alignment with who
you know you are, you know, which that leads to anxiety, depressed.
and all of these things that can just turn out to be a big waste of your time.
I'm trying to know what Tyler the creator said after that.
Just ask yourself, how clear am I on this?
You know, it's okay to change your mind.
It's okay to make mistakes.
It's okay to learn your lessons.
It's okay to be human.
I wish you the clarity that sparks the blueprint to create the life you love,
no matter what.
I wonder if these are the singles for his album,
like clarity, happiness, focus, and pressure, that'd be kind of dope.
But obviously, you know, if one takes off, I think that'll probably just lead up into the album.
Because usually what ends up happening is somebody puts out a track.
And if it doesn't blow up, then, you know, a couple weeks after they put out another track, you know, this is like album rollout.
And if a track catches, then they make a, they stop the release dates for all the other.
the singles make a music video for the one they blew up and now that's the figurehead pushing the
marketing promotion for the album usually that's how it goes anyways i do feel like clarity may be the first
single or maybe it's just actually a video that he just wanted to give to the masses which if that's the case
then you know he did a great job you know congrats to big sean you know i mean i don't do this
for every artist but you know since i actually mean it i ain't gonna lie to you got to clap it up
This man is actually making music again.
What they say?
Make rap great again?
Something I got to make rap great again, man.
I'm glad it's Big Sean.
Because even though I am a huge Drake fan,
I'm never going to switch up on the goat.
I would like to see a more mature perspective from a lyricist.
Because obviously, Drake gives us bars about his life,
but then he also gives us bars about certain things
that's unfathomable for a person his age as far as
romantic life. Let's just leave it at that. So for Big Sean,
lyrically, I think he's superior than Drake.
But then Drake's the goat for a reason. He's just great at everything. So Big Sean
rapping, I think that's why Tyler the creator said it like he did. It's your biggest
attribute and your biggest flaw because you're probably going to get into like how
sometimes being the lyricist can get in the, um, get in the way of you making a good song.
Because if rap was judged by how lyrics was portrayed, rap, no, battle rappers would be Drake.
But since making a good song is still as important, if not more, than the lyrics.
And even now, in the current space of hip-hop, lyrics is at a completely low level.
Like the bar is in, you know what.
I mean, technically isn't a place.
It is a place.
So it technically isn't a cuss word, right?
Anyways, the bar isn't in, in, um, it's still a PG podcast.
We can't do that.
Basically, Ice Spice with the, you think you the expert of charting in the top 100 should let
you know that the bars and you know what.
No disrespect.
The Ice Spice is a plethora of other rappers I could have targeted out like little pump.
I just had to choose a current one.
So for the lyricist to also make a good song,
it's, I'm not going to say harder,
but the thinking that you have to put words together
in a superior fashion can sometimes get in the way
of the replayability of the song.
As flows and Germain does this all the time.
Great rappers.
are cognizant of the beat and how to flow amongst the beat and then when the beat changes they want to
change the flow and so whenever you change your flow somebody may have been in love with your
old flow but because you're such a lyricist that pocket you was in that maybe everybody loved
you got bored of it because you are lyricism and you want to challenge yourself and show them
that you can get into a whole other pocket,
but maybe people just want you to stay in that one pocket that you was in for the entire
verse.
Hopefully that makes sense.
For people who don't even make music, you're probably like, what does this man
talking about?
So anyways, yeah, that was just something that I want to talk about because this album's
going to be fantastic.
Like, my most anticipated album of 2024 by far.
Like, Drake could drop and it would still be my most anticipated album.
Like hopefully I'll know how much of a Big Sean fan I am after this segment.
So that being said, click my link to your in my bio.
Let me know one of my social medias.
What do you think about Big Sean coming back to save lyricism and rap?
And also do you believe or do you also believe like me that this will end up being album of the year?
