Starting point is 00:00:03 Big Sean is back again with this album, Better Me Than You, Out Now on all DSPs. Now, it warrants my heart to say this because it used to be my favorite rapper until he left me in my high school years. And then of course, no did he, but I found another guy named Drake. So that being said, getting into this man's music is very pivotal that I say that because I've been a big Sean fan for the longest. Now, one of the things I wanted to get into was this track Fighter, Fighting Fires, because this was basically an unreleased track from Kanye West album that was supposed to, it was originally supposed to be on vultures, I believe. No, Votures 2.
Starting point is 00:00:53 It was supposed to be on Voters 2. And of course, Kanye being the way he is, completely left Big Sean off of it, which I told you, the reason why, you know, Kanye be messing with Big Sean and I'm not saying that Big Sean should just fire off on him because of course Kanye basically gave him a whole career. So as far as the disc track, I mean, that's enough material in itself. But as far as the disrespect, I mean, it's been immense. I don't know how Big Sean handles all that. It's probably why he went on IJ live crying because, one, the album,
Starting point is 00:01:31 from listening to it first impressions seems to me that he's in a rut I'm not saying that he's lost it but I think overall the music that he puts out has been mediocre at best I think sometimes he gets into his flow where he's just really going
Starting point is 00:01:53 and then other times which is 80% of the other that I'm talking about it's just straight mundane just very, very lackadaisical as far as delivery. It's like NyQuil. You know, I never thought I'd get to the day while I compare my boy Big Sean to Jermaine Cole, but the audio NyQuil is just through the roof on this album. I mean, talk about bedtime stories.
Starting point is 00:02:21 This album is perfect for that. I mean, if you want to go to sleep, I mean, just press play, my brother. So anyways, fighting fires was supposed to be on Kanye's vote. Ultras 2. Of course, Kanye continuously messing with Big Sean left him off of the album. And it came out interestingly enough around the same time that this album, better me than you, was originally supposed to come out. Because if you don't know, this was actually pushed back. And it was a very personal album for Big Sean. So that's why he felt like Fighting Fire, was just like a more of a Lucy than an actual addition to the album. So as far as the overall
Starting point is 00:02:57 topic of fighting fires. I mean, it's just a lot of Kanye production with Big Sean rapping so that should be a match made in heaven. So as far as the track being left off, I mean, come on now. Like, you already know why. So as far as fan engagement
Starting point is 00:03:12 and everything of that source, you know, they're really enjoying the emotional journey that Big Sean takes people on because if you don't know, Big Sean's one of the best lyrical rappers ever. So whenever he's rapping and it's connecting in a way that you can relate to,
Starting point is 00:03:30 it's on a deeper level. So the songmaking ability does not come with the high level of lyricism. Sometimes you can wrap yourself into a rap-ty-rap type album, but then the songs aren't really formulated to be replayable. Hopefully that makes sense. It's like listening to an audiobook. You listen to an audiobook, but it's a... There's an audio book, the first thing you run to when it's like a workout type vibe or a party type vibe.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Probably not. It's probably specific scenarios where you're like, let me throw on that audiobook. And that's basically how Big Sean's better me than you album is sounding currently. So, of course, it just came out. But of course, me being an avid Big Sean fan, I've already listened to it like three or four times. And yes, like three or four times. So with that being said, one of the biggest things I want to get at, is the Fighting Fires track and just how it showcasing Big Sean's versatility
Starting point is 00:04:30 as far as him being able to rap on anybody's production and just be one of the best artists as far as putting words together that we've ever seen in life. So I never want that to be misconstrued. This man, lyrical ability is second to none. Well, second to Kendrick, but everybody knows that. So that being said, I click my link to you in my bio. Let me know one of my social media is. What do you think about Big Sean and his track Fighting Fires?
Starting point is 00:04:59 And at the end of the day, what do you feel? And how are you receiving Big Sean's current album, Better Me Than You?
