Starting point is 00:00:03 Now, of course, I have to start off by saying, and you already should know this if you're a long time listener or watcher the podcast. But basically, Big Sean is one of my favorite rappers of all time. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip-hop. Like, what's going on? And the reason why I'm starting off like that is because, no, we're not covering his music, ladies and gentlemen, which you may say. You guys. See, that's the problem.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Because I do claim that I only cover musicians when they put out music. But safe to say, I am bending and breaking the rules for one. on my favorite rappers pulse as when you look at his contributions in 2025 no he did not put out an album because of course better me than you came out august 30 of 2024 but then you look at it as far as his singles and he's been beyond active to the point where i think his whole strategy for the year of 2025 was just killing every single feature he's been on and i mean every single one my favorite feature from him surprisingly if he's listening to this um is a lot of a little Eladio Carion, the track Brandzino, featuring Big Sean, as I believe the whole Latin,
Starting point is 00:01:10 and I may be biased because you already know how, if you don't know, if you're a new time listener, just know one of my top markets is Mexico, because I cover a lot of Latin musicians outside from me covering the entire music industry. So when it comes to that, specifically, people really enjoy my Latin music coverage. So when I heard the track Brandzino, featuring Big Shine, safe to say, I was in heaven. But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:01:35 Pause on that, if needed. So, Brandino is my favorite feature from Big Sean. But of course, the track shut me up as a whole, and its totality is my favorite as Russ and Big Sean are some of my favorite rappers of all time. So if I was to get my list, it'd probably be Drake, Aubrey Graham, the boy from Canada. Shepard.
Starting point is 00:01:53 All, my fault. Drake, you'll see my favorite rappers. Drake, Big Sean, Russ, JZ, and probably NF. and I know what y'all saying why are you listening to jZ in 2025 when jZ said he literally gave us the gems and his music that man was not lying you guys so anyways um yeah back to big Sean the reason why we're talking about him is because guess what this man just had a whole venture with the Detroit pistons I know before y'all make y'all jokes I know y'all probably think it to yourself who in the world cares about the Detroit pistons and of course I just made that up because this is a one-way conversation and I just had to throw that out for pettiness you guys see that's the problem because you know as a basketball fan you know i had to talk about the detroit pistons because they actually doing pretty good but that's besides the point so big sean is officially named the creative director of global experiences for the detroit pistons and as you can see right here analytic dreams video on spotify he also posted this as far as capture as far as um
Starting point is 00:02:53 along with wardroom and two others basically they put up the the photo of detroit pistons uh big sean and basically the caption is detroit Pistons bringing Big Sean into front office as creative director of global experience. So shout out to Big Sean for that. But some more details about that particular collaboration. It basically expands Big Sean's role from local and regional initiatives to global fan engagement and cultural strategy. Some would say he's pulling a Jay-Z move as far as getting more involved.
Starting point is 00:03:31 getting more heavily involved, I should say, because he was already involved, as it says, it expands the role, as he already had the role, but not really like the main role, but he already had a role, but now it expands the role, and now he is officially the creative director of innovation for the Detroit Pistons. So you probably think it's itself. What way in the world does that mean? Well, I'm glad you asked, as basically Big Sean's key contributions will be team merchandise design, end-game experiences,
Starting point is 00:04:02 co-branded practice jerseys, and the 2022 and 23, St.C's Nike NBA City Edition uniforms. Now, of course, like I keep saying, I don't really watch sports like that. I don't know. What in the world? Saint C. is. Maybe I'm ignorant. Obviously, I'm ignorant because I don't know what in the world that is. I do know what the
Starting point is 00:04:21 city edition uniforms are. But basically, that's what Big Sean's doing. And, of course, to kick it all off, the final thing of his contributions is big Sean night at little Caesar's arena so that being said big Sean as far as a musical aspect I think he's been very active from a feature standpoint I know his fans are probably wanting an album even though he did give us an album in 2024 and of course side seven I mean white tank top you know he can take whole sabbaticals between albums but even me
Starting point is 00:04:53 I had to learn this you know from a wee little lad you know going on with you know growing until what I am now as far as 25 going on 80, I came to realize that when you look at it in totality, he really hasn't taken that big of a break from releasing albums. You know, in high school, two years, sound like eternity. But of course, once you grow up, you realize that that man was literally taking time to make his album a little better. So when you look at his feature list, safe to say his singles are non-existent because he basically for the year of 2025 just wanted to precisely focus on killing everything. every single feature, which I think he did.
Starting point is 00:05:29 But then, you know what I'm saying? I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop. Like, what's going on? And of course, I would like to, you know, get into the numbers. Because, of course, Big Sean from a numbers aspect is no longer a superstar, um, effect as far as compared to a lot of superstars and hip hop. But I like to say a lot, because I cover the charts specifically. Just because you just sell a lot does not mean that you're making the highest quality.
Starting point is 00:05:53 And just because you don't sell a lot does not mean you're making the most egregious, the most abysmal. Shepard. All right. It doesn't mean you're making bad music. Basically, the two don't correlate. So again, the Big Shine, I think his quality is through the roof for the year of 2025 via his features.
Starting point is 00:06:06 But when it comes to chart topping dominance, it's just not there anymore. I'm not saying he's washed up. He can always heat it back up with, you know, you always want away. That's what a lot of people say in the music industry. You always want to wait. And for Big Sean, I think his percentage of getting that hit is higher than a lot of other people that's under him. So I'm not saying Big Sean's washed up.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I'm just saying he's no longer a superstar figure. when it comes to objective analytics but of course that is not um that is not basically an indicator of his quality so anyways um you already know that big sean's from detroit so you know with this whole joint venture it makes all this sense in the world and then of course usher raymond ladies and gentlemen i know what y'all saying what in the world does he have to do with detroit well big sean and usher had a whole one million dollar investment into the detroit entertainment innovation incubator now what is what the world does that mean the world may never know you guys so when it comes to what it actually means basically is to target the age group from 14 to 24 and the facility features virtual
Starting point is 00:07:11 production studio special effects lab and then a creator's lounge and then the mission is to keep detroit's next generation of creatives building locally with access and mentorship And then to expound upon that, Detroit is basically uplifting one of its hometown legends, such as a Big Sean, because of course, with Big Sean being from Detroit, this is a monumental move on showcasing love to your local hometown, which I think is one of the best things you could do as somebody who gets to a certain stature, and then comes back to where it all started to give back. I think this is a phenomenal full circle moment. And then of course the great white hope of hip hop, aka Eminem, he signed a multi-year deal through 2027 with the Detroit Lions. So the Detroit teams and organizations are always showing love to the superstar hometown legends, right? As Eminem, executive produces Thanksgiving halftime shows and the 2025 kicked off featured Jack White and Post Malone. And with the
Starting point is 00:08:21 Eminem and Detroit Lions collab, it's basically, uh, Um, to, uh, oh, well, I basically said what it was. But as far as Eminem and Big Sean, the collaborative efforts between the sports teams, it overall globalizes the team, uh, brands. It helps out with the authenticity. Could you have somebody who's a superstar that grew up in Detroit, making these big type of business moves? And of course, at the end of the day, it merges sports and music.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Could you already know the ballplayers want to be rappers and the rappers want to be ballplayers. So this is one of the greatest collaborations that I've seen in quite, some time i know y'all may think i'm exaggerating but there's a reason why people talk about jz the way they talk about them it's moves like this similar to j z with the brooklyn nets it's moves like this they end up getting you more acclimated into the business world so all kudos the big shan not only is he one of the best rappers i've ever heard in life but he's also one of the best businessmen as far as just another this being another example of his uh of him being promoted to creative of global experience for the Detroit Pistons.
Starting point is 00:09:29 So that be it said, click my link to you on my bio. Let me know on one of my social medias. What do you think about Big Sean and the Detroit Pistons coming together to make him the creative director of global experience? And of course, on the music side, do you think that Big Sean will drop an album in the year of 2026?
