The sport of hip hop is back and I can't be more excited.
The excitement level for me, particularly, is through the roof.
As of course over here at notorious mass effect, we get into the gaming and music industry,
but we also talk about things that have a pun intended, notorious mass effect, right?
So when getting back into the sport of hip hop, there's a lot of things that may not be
for commercial success. And when it comes to lyrical content, even though I really enjoy when people
take it serious as far as putting effort and the word process, as far as the verses, as far as
the way you go about different flows, the vocal inflection, the tonality. There's a lot of things
in rap that's taken for granted because of people wanted to sell and put numbers up on
billboard one of the things I've noticed throughout my time of listening to music is that
lyrical tracks are often not replayable because the masses would rather hear something sonically
that's more pleasing than hard-hitting top-tier bars so when it comes to that red bull coming out
with this freestyle featuring joey big shan and abso warms my heart because there's an immense
respect just put on lyricists and letting them showcase why hip hop is such a great art as far as
expressing yourself so when we get into this video as if you don't know this is a reaction so definitely
make sure to follow me on my live platforms whether it's kick whether it's twitch youtube facebook or
twitter yes i do go live on facebook i just started to go live people be supporting over there it's kind
crazy so with that being said um we're going to get into this video as far as joey big
shan and absouled and the main thing i want to talk about is just the lyrical content and how
effortless they deliver their respective verses now hopefully they don't copyright me getting into
this freestyle because of course this i believe is intended to have people react to it and if not
Let's just say this is not an ad for Red Bull, but I will be making it an ad if there's a problem with the copyright issue because of course I believe this is for people to react to. So if something happens after the fact with the copyright, just know, just know. It was Red Bull who did it. So anyways, let's get let's get into these three masterful top tier lyricies right now. Big Sean currently has a book out title Go Higher. I've read it. It's phenomenal. As far as books.
I do enjoy listening to people's life story and books because I think top tier people as far as lyricists,
as far as people being able to elevate in life and then giving those same tools on how they did it in a book is phenomenal.
So I read Will Smith's book. I've read Big Sean's book.
I just say both of the, I don't know why I just threw Will Smith in there, but I'm just basically saying that both of those books are great as far as showcasing the evolution and the ups and downs, even when you seemingly have it all.
So anyways, it's my fault.
I just had to give that little plug right there.
So Big Sean does have a bookout title go higher.
Let's get back into it.
No, I feel like I'm in a battle rap scene right now.
This man said, hold on, man.
That's crazy.
That's running back.
I know y'all heard that, man.
That's what six cents is for.
Like when you add two, going off of when he said peace,
I have to, man, come on now.
Let's keep going.
Let's keep going.
I think he's talking about my Kanye right there.
Think about all the stuff you don't see because he made the ghost cheese.
Hold on now.
he may be talking about Kanye but you know let's just uh and also that double time flow that he does at the end
i know a lot of people are gonna kill him for it like oh he rapping like uh uh uh macy's again you know what
i'm saying the whole macy's thing with big sean started that whole uh oh i'm shopping macy's that type of flow
i know people's people always clown in that flow but uh it's really a patented uh big sean type of
approach to putting words together so i'm i'm glad he included that because it's definitely a throwback to
how he definitely influenced a lot of rappers when it comes to the way they emphasize certain words.
Let's just put it like that.
I feel like he had the weakest verse out of the three of them.
Now, you know, that's just me.
That's just my opinion.
You know, he can still, you know, to the West Coast people out there, they're going to be like,
oh, here comes the West Coast bias.
Like, everybody behaving on the West Coast.
But I just feel like out of the three, I feel like his was not as great as the other two.
But, you know, we're not here to compare it, right?
even though I just did.
So anyways, let's get back into his verse.
I think another thing I have as far as critique, it's like the last word not rhyming,
I think works in the lyrical aspect, but it's definitely something that I feel like made
his verse not as good as Big Sean and Joey.
As far as the last part of the overall verse that he had, the last words not matching up
or even sonically rhyming is um it's an interesting approach i'm just going to put it like that
let's keep going that's my favorite part my favorite part is when uh joey starts he's like uh
that's cute and then he gets into his bars like this man does not care he he is uh looking for blood
and as you tell throughout this verse he may have had the best one simply because of the way he was
going about who he was attacking let's just put it like that i'm not going to get messy but
There's a reason why Abso said you put me in the sticky predicament.
If you know, you know.
Oh my goodness, bro.
These daylight flips is insane, bro.
But then, you know what I'm saying?
I was like, damn, look at the state of hip hop.
Like, what's going on?
I don't think y'all understand.
The way he flipping daylight is insanity right now.
It's insanity, which goes back to my point I always have throughout the podcast.
Just because you sell the most does not mean you have the highest quality,
but just because you don't sell as much as majority of your period,
doesn't mean that you're making below or does not mean you're making trash right the two don't
correlate and this is a prime example lyric lyrical miracle spiritual is always like made fun of and at the end of
the day people respect the art but the replayable factor of it is not at the the heights i think it should
be because if we were to talk about the best rappers not the best commercial rappers the best
rappers it will probably be an underground battle rapper that nobody heard of so that's why i always
say that throughout the podcast as far as the the uh quality level not always meeting the billboard
or uh consumption levels because of course a lot of people just want to hear something that doesn't
make them think as hard right so this right here is just a testament to hip hop as far as what it
looks like when people really get into their bag as far as the lyrical expression and what rap is really
about this is this is crazy especially in the year of 2025 rap has been you know not as consumed as
other years not that not consumed as much as other years is this is refreshing to hear right
ain't going to lie to you and these daylight flips once again it's insanity yo yo you got to stop
bro he'd be going for like a minute straight of just daylight bars just a minute straight why why
hold of y'all don't know daylight is an actual rapper from l a let me type this in right quick
what this man's talking about which is why you know absolute in the middle of his verse was like
he put me in the sticky predicament this man uh is going at daylight pretty insane right now
as daylight uh is a rapper right from watts california and essentially rose through the grind time now
and king of the dot which is k-o-td and then notable battles up against people like rom-nitty
Rone and Shottie.
So he's a battle rapper.
So for Joey, who's more commercialized, objectively speaking, than daylight, to get into
that battle rap bag and have that daylight just arsenal to go at him verbally, it's a spooky
sight when a commercial rapper gets into his battle rap bag.
I ain't going to lie to you.
I ain't going to lie to you.
Not going to lie to you.
I feel like Big Sean had a solid outing.
I feel like Daylight was definitely the lesser of the two.
But Joey, this man took the show.
And ultimately, he had help with, you know, him being able to battle certain rappers as far as daylight.
And that helped out a lot as far as the quality level.
But still, to have that arsenal of daylight bars in the tuck, especially when you didn't even have to mention him and this Red Bull.
sponsored interview or not interview um freestyle is insane because uh this is top tier this is why
people criticize i'm not even going to bring them up but let's just say there's another article
another uh conglomerate that has a lot of different freestyles and and that is what we compare it to
this is what we compare that to all the time which is why people don't have the greatest sentiments
towards certain freestyles when it comes to putting random freshmen together hopefully i get what i'm
saying so when it comes to that um that's my review of big Sean Joey and ab sole
freestyle as far as the Red Bull freestyle uh click my link to my bio let me know one of my
social media is who do you think had the better verse and at the end of the day do you
think daylight should respond to Joey
