Starting point is 00:00:03 Now at first I was listening to this particular artist and I said to myself is that DJ academics rapping But then you know what I'm saying? I was like damn look at the state of hip hop like what's going on but you know at the end of the day of course all jokes aside and music video set to the side big extra plug is back again with the new track titled hell of a night featuring Ella Langley now when it comes to that particular track I want to let y'all know When it comes to the newer crop of artists in the year of 2025, Big X the Plug, Playbricardi, Little Teca, there's certain artists that have been putting up phenomenal analytics as far as engagement. But obviously, you know, when it comes to quality, that does not automatically mean you're going to have people tuning into your music. And the reason why I say that is because Big X2 Plug had a particular track with Shibuzi titled Home.
Starting point is 00:01:01 And that is currently nowhere on the charts. That is my favorite song from Big X to Plug in the year of 2025. But, you know, I'm a little biased because, of course, y'all already know that my favorite artist is Aubrey Drake Graham. So with that being said, when it comes to that, titling an album Take Care as in hip-hop artists is the same as somebody going on the 96-97 bulls and asking to wear a number 23. You know what I'm saying? So as far as the disrespect being blatant from Big X to Plug, I had to see exactly who this man was under as far as putting out this album title, Take Care.
Starting point is 00:01:41 And he's under, well, as far as that, actually, let's not, not the single, because the single that we're talking about today is under United Masters. But as far as the actual album, take care of that originally came out October 11th, 2024, that was also under United Masters. Okay, so this man's just under United Masters. That works. So, um, I don't know who. who is advising this man, I know y'all probably just gonna say I'm glazing Drake, but ultimately
Starting point is 00:02:08 graduation, take care, blueprint are names that should never be taken by any hip hop artists. I mean, in the foreseeable future. I mean, these artists are still alive that put out those classic bodies of work, right, in the genre of hip hop. So with that being said, ultimately the main thing I wanted to say with big, big extra plug is I do like his music. I feel like his music is high quality and especially when it comes to that, he's definitely one of the more, consumed artists in the game when it comes to hip hop as his track with Bailey Zimmerman is currently the 27th most played track in the world. So of course, you're probably wondering to yourself how why how and why is he going in this direction of country artists. He has Shibuzi, Bailey Zimmerman,
Starting point is 00:02:51 and then now he has Ella Langley. Well, if you don't know, as far as the Texas rapper, and then of course Ella Langley, who is an ACM award-winning country artist for her track, for the win and then them teaming up seems very unorthodox until you realize that he has a track with shibuzi and he has a track with bailey zimmerman so i don't know if he's going for some type of country album but as far as these crossover these country crossovers they've seen to be working as the bailey zimmerman track being the 27th most play track in the world showcases to big ex and his team that this type of collab can and will work with the right pieces in play so me that right after that putting out that home track with Shibuzia did not perform as well as
Starting point is 00:03:38 either of them would have hoped right so when it comes to big extra plug you already know with take care and that album that i didn't cover at all um and debuted at number eight on billboard 200 and earned 48 000 uh units uh first week so with that being said there was 1500 in pure sales most of his uh sales came from streams if you don't know you need approximately like 14 to 1500 streams to be equivalent to one album unit. So that's a lot of streams, right? And it's because it's for free. I mean, you pay $15, you get access to everybody's discography.
Starting point is 00:04:13 So of course, RI.A. The people who certified these platinum diamond records, they had it go in it and set some ground rules. So it's not the same as far as purchasing something and streaming something. So as far as Big X to play, in the land of Flopposaurus Rex with a lot of rappers, out here just straight up putting up abysmal numbers, which is not correlated to quality.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I'm just putting it in perspective. All of these rappers putting up abysmal numbers as far as consumption, Big Ex-Dug being up there with a Drake, we're not up there. But as far as him putting up numbers for hip-hop, he's definitely in their top five, maybe even top three,
Starting point is 00:04:54 because especially at the beginning of the year, as far as in the first four to five months, he was one of the main artists who was putting up numbers in the hip hop genre now we have a title of the creator now we have um who else uh yeet just put up well he put up 34 000 i think that was his debut for his album uh dangerous summer but um ultimately there's not a lot of hip hop artists in the top five and top three that we used to as far as in the totality of the year y'all have to remember that last year um kendrick lamar's genx put up great numbers to the point where people thought it was a new age in hip hop, right?
Starting point is 00:05:35 And then now you come to see that there's there's really like a vacancy in the next hip hop superstar. There's a lot of older acts that are still putting up numbers. And of course they put in the groundwork. So that explains itself. But as far as newer acts, usually you see more top of the charts. I mean, even with young boy, I think he put up like 27,000 his first week, which is insane. I mean, we're talking about NBA young boy, one of the. most influential artists to the younger generation. But like I said, a lot of people say that his
Starting point is 00:06:06 artists prefer the streaming aspect instead of purchasing things. So as far as the 27th first week, I would be interested to see how many of those were actual physical purchases versus the entire first week sales being streaming. That's what I would assume. So anyways, getting back into a big extra plug, I do believe when it comes to his music is very high quality. These, this trend of country rap crossover collabs seems to be working um shout out to morgan wallen even though he did say the n-word in 4k but you know that's okay i mean we just forget by everything right you guys see that's the problem morgan wallen i think kicked this off with his collab with little dirk all the way back in what was it 2023 2022 when i think it was broadway girls to this day one of my favorite
Starting point is 00:06:55 country and rap crossover collabs of all time but um yeah that came out 2021 December 17. So I think Morgan Wallen popularized the rap country crossover because you do need somebody of a Morgan Wallen stature to give credence to a country rap collab. Because Quabo had a country collab that I thought was phenomenal. Obviously it didn't do as well on the charts. But when it comes, but like bringing this full circle, I believe with Big X to plug, to put it plainly, it's putting up some of, if not the best numbers when it comes to newcomers in the genre of hip hop. So with that being said, click my link to your my bio. Let me know in one of my social medias.
Starting point is 00:07:41 What do you think about Big Ex-a-Plug and Ella Langley's latest track, hell of a night? And ultimately, do you think that this country rap crossover trend is a facade or you think is here to stay for the foreseeable future?
