So of course, I've covered Black Pink before because as far as the K-pop genre and just the world of Korean music, I do believe that as a very interesting culture in the overall music landscape.
I mean, of course, you have people like BTS and then you have your other groups and K-pop.
You have Black Pink and then you have your solo people who jump out of the music.
BTS because of the whole mandatory military service that they're having to do right now.
As far as you have Jamin and then you have what's his name V.
You basically have a lot of people in the K-pop space putting up numbers on the charts.
And Black Pink is definitely one of those groups as for people who don't know, the South Korean
Girl Pop Group formed by YG Entertainment back in 2016 that consists of four members.
I may mispronounce these names, a bush of the names, but basically is Jisu, Jenny, Rose, and Lisa.
And then what else?
They've won multiple awards, of course, from MTV.
Well, not MTV.
Yeah, the best K-pop video.
So the videos are pretty serious.
And they're known for the hip-hop-centric type of style with the catchy melodies.
And the reason I say that is, and the reason I'm even reviewing them, is because the one of the biggest groups in K-pop, and also, they really do have a lot of hip-hop elements in the track.
I mean, if you listen to the track that I'm specifically covering today in the track titled The Girls, which is the Girls, Black Pink, the game, OST, which is very interesting.
Are they coming out with a game?
I don't think so.
But anyways, yeah, you get rid of the same.
So the track is called The Girls from Black Pink.
it's very hip-hop heavy.
Like I literally heard some rapping at the beginning of the track.
And when I say heard, because I actually listen to the track, and guess what?
I actually liked it.
Like, it's one of those things where if you're a guy, it's hard to rap or sing along sometimes
when girls are saying certain things because that's not something you do as a man.
You know, like there's certain activities that they may be talking about as far as explicitly
that you can't do as a guy.
But for this track, it's very PG as far as the catchy melody.
but the biggest thing is they're saying it in English so you're understanding what
they're actually saying and you ask you also are enjoying the track because the
the chorus is very catchy the overall sound the overall track is something that if
you're listening to you won't be like what is this is trash you would just
probably say to yourself wow I can't believe the obvious hip-hop influence on a
K-pop track and for
me that makes it even more enjoyable because with this being such an energetic track and chorus
and lyrics that are in a language i understand being from a korean pop group i don't think people
give credit enough to that type of uh delivery because imagine if you was an american artist
that had to make a track for um the people in korea and you have to have to
to start speaking their language like you know that would be a little difficult to translate that to an
actual track now obviously i'm not saying they don't have writers and i'm not saying they do have writers
all i'm saying is that process of going from even performing the lyrics from your native tongue to a tongue
that a whole other demographic don't even uh can understand so they can embrace your music i feel
like that's something that to be um highlighted as that's not easy to do and because of this versus
in the music.
I mean, Black Pink was,
they haven't put out
music this whole year. So for this
to be their first single, I think
it's just a testament to the artistry
because
Born Pink
was the second studio album.
And when they put that out,
that spent about 13 weeks
at number one on the Billboard 200
charts. Think about that.
With singles like Pink Venom
and shut down reaching
also charting on Billboard Hot 100.
So I'm thinking with this album, well, with this single, along with the rollout leading up to the album,
they're going to spend even longer on the charts because the under endoscope, which if you don't know,
is owned by the biggest music label in the world.
But you're probably like, well, how are they under, you, how are they under endoscope when you just said they were founded by why
G basically
YG Entertainment
is what put the group together
so if you're looking at
Black Pink basically
just know
YG
I'm trying to figure out where to break this down
for y'all
YG Entertainment
formed the K-pop group
Black Pink
they became popular
then Anoscope Records
came in which is under
Universal Records.
Music Group. Universal Music Group is the biggest label in the world, in my opinion. Obviously,
it's, can be debated, I guess. But Universal Music Group, I feel like it's the biggest
music label in the world. So with Black Pink's popularity, Anoscope came in, which is a subsidiary of
Universal Music Group, took Black Pink under the wing, basically for U.S. distribution, because if you
don't know if you go from YG Entertainment who's well versed in a Korean space music
landscape and they come to the come to America music landscape is a little
different so partnering with the Anoscope with the Universal Music Group leads to
your second studio album spending 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 charts so
obviously I'm not saying it the most popular group in the world but they do have
some help out they do have some help in the american department with andoscopes slash universal
music group so that's all i'm saying and another testament to the artistry is their their music videos
the way they would a choreograph uh and express they're just very animated the way they um
dance basically it's uh i don't want to compare them to uh let's just say
all right i'm gonna do it so like biance um chris brown usher like the core the choreography is another thing
the dance choreography is another thing that makes the track even better not saying they're on the
level of those artists i just named just saying that that's what their fans look forward to
along with the track because these groups definitely put a lot of attention to detail and to the music
videos so also they announced that the animated visual required more time due to commit to commitment
with the music video the simultaneous release of the music video in the game so they want to release
music video along with the game because of course it's animated and they had to delay it to make that happen
And what else? So yeah, that's basically it. So when I say they put a lot of attention to detail in the music videos, I mean, just look at Black Pink the girl's music video and then you'll understand exactly what I'm saying. And you'll realize why they're even being picked up like a subsidiary, like an underscote to promote their music in the U.S. But anyways, click my link to your bio. Let me know in one of my social medias. What do you think about Black Pink their group? And will you be giving their latest single, the first single? The first.
